Busta Rhymes Gets 3 Years Probation For 2006 Assault Case rraaasssss

A judge sentenced Busta Rhymes to three years probation on Tuesday (March 18) for assaulting his former driver and a fan back in late 2006.

According to the Associated Press, the 35-year-old rapper (real name: Trevor Smith) was also ordered to perform 10 days of community service; pay a $1,250 fine, plus court costs; and enroll in a drunken driving program.

Judge Larry Stephen sentenced Busta after he pleaded guilty to assault, two driving infractions and weapons possession, as a part of a plea deal to keep him out of jail.

As of Tuesday, he began serving his sentence.

The judge told Busta that he either abides by the conditions of his probation or go to jail.

"I have no problem being a good dude because that's what I am," the rapper told reporters outside the courtroom.

The charges stemmed from three different incidents. In August 2006, he allegedly assaulted a fan who reportedly spat on his car, then for assaulting his driver, Larry Hackett, that December.

The $1,250 fine was for driving with a suspended license in 2006 and driving while intoxicated in 2007. He also will serve 10 days of community service and participate in an anti-drunk driving program.
