Vybz Kartel is insisting that his latest single, Broad Daylight on the new Stephen McGregor joint, Daybreak is not a counteraction of Mavado's Nuh Bleach. LISTEN TRACKS
"It is not a counteraction, it is just concept that I built from the name of the rhythm. Stephen usually comes with dark rhythms hence the name Shadow and Dark Again, and then this rhythm Daybreak has a different kinda name but it sound gangster same way, so I used that same concept, hence the punchline, daylight," This song is neither a counteraction or a correction, a paradox or a parody, it's just a song, and people need to stop reading all sort of things into the music."
Regardless of its interpretation, the Daybreak rhythm is awfully popular earning major forwards at both Passa Passa and Weddy Weddy last week. Kartel dubbed the rhythm 'the fastest riddim ever buss" to represent the spooky speed with which the rhythm has gained acceptance in the dancehall.
Deejay Vybz Kartel is putting the finishing touches on his latest album with Stephen McGregor.
"It ah go be so sick," he vowed.
