Thie section below was taken from user/member Owadkelly Blog/post 04/1708 on this site.... "There's McAfee FreeScan, Symantec Security Check, and Trend Micro's HouseCall. If one doesn't find anything, try two. In fact, running a free online virus scan is a good way to double-check the work of your own local antivirus program. When you're done, buy or download a real antivirus program"
Hijackthis is another one that is free and very, very good. It scans areas of your registry and hard drive and returns a log of items which it detects. It is recommended for advanced users only and users should scan and then post your log file on a support forum, where someone will be able to suggest which entries to remove.
Advanced Windows Care V2 Personal is also free. Thsi one noticably increased by internet browsing after I was cussing out C&W for poor service.
