Deejay Mad Cobra is an unhappy man today after thieves broke the rear glass of his BMW X5 at a party in Portmore, St Catherine, yesterday and stole cash as well as thousands of dollars worth of equipment. According to Cobra who is christened Ewart Brown, the incident occurred sometime yesterday morning while his SUV was parked along Port Henderson Road. "Di event ('Full White') a gwaan a La Roose in a Portmore yesterday. Wi go deh go show we respects to di promoter and di light go weh. We neva leave still, cause as we seh, we a sho di promoter respect. When mi come out, mi si di whole a di back glass lick out," Mad Cobra said. Cobra added that the thieves made off with a digital camera, documents, and equipment valued at several hundred thousand dollars. In addition, they stole $215,000 in cash from his vehicle. "All some new projects wha mi did have in deh di man dem gone wid," he added. What has made Cobra even more distressed is the cost of the rear glass which Cobra said is very expensive. "A waan tell yuh seh, di glass value more dan all a di tings dem wha di man dem tief. Right now mi not even badda clean it out. All a di glass deh pon di seat in a di car same way. Mi not even badda trouble it," he said. The deejay said he has not given a written statement to the police but said he told officers who were on the location about the incident. "Di police dem know bout it but mi nuh mek no report yet, but dem know seh it gwaan an' seh mi fi try get it out to the public in case nobody try sell di tings dem," he said. Cobra is known for hits such as Flex, Legacy and Press Trigger and was one of the first dancehall artistes to make the transition to the international market in the early 1990s.
