Thursday, 14 February 2008 Jamaican jockey Shaun Bridgmohan is in a good position to secure the first ever Caribbean success in the Kentucky Derby on May 3rd at Churchill Downs, home of the Kentucky Derby.
Bridgemohan's prospective mount Pyro was the early 5 to 1 favourite for the US$2 million Kentucky Derby purse, ahead of the undefeated War Pass, who was next at 6 to 1 odds.
Pyro, an impressive winner of last weekend Risen Star Stakes, finished second to War Pass in both the Breeders' Cup Juvenile and Champagne Stakes last year.
However, Bridgmohan, 28, expects the trend to change in the current season.
