In the midst of all the controversy that shrouds her career in Jamaica Barbee has risen triumphantly above it all to walk away with not one, but two awards at the recently held Excellence in Music and Entertainment Awards.
The Statuesque diva copped the awards for Best New Artiste of the Year (Female) going up against such talents as Natalee, Miss Triniti, Irie Love and Timber-Lee. Her second award came in the Best Collaboration of the Year Dancehall where she edged out the rest of the pack with her Beenie Man combination single Give It Up. Her clinching the award meant besting Vybz Kartel and D'Angel with Baby Father, Mavado/Sereni with Dying and Gun Rise with Teflon/I-Octane.
Barbee made her presence felt on the scene as a singer with her first single Missing You done in combination done with Junior Kelly. The single received tremendous airplay throughout the Caribbean, the North Eastern United States, South Florida, Canada as well as Nigeria and West Africa.
Now with the EME out of the way Barbee will now be turning her attention to the IRIE FM Awards which is scheduled to be held on Wednesday, February 13.
The sexy singer is nominated in the category Best Collaboration of the Year for Give It Up with Beenie Man. In this category she will be up against Junior Reid, Mims and Baby Cham for the single 'This I Why I'm Hot' Remix'; Beenie Man and Alaine for No One; Bugle and Sereni for Doh and Junior Reid and Alicia Keys for No One Remix.
With the vibes the red-hot single is creating one can only assume that her chance of repeating the victory at Irie FM Awards on Wednesday is in the high percentile?
