Dancehall newcomer and Beenie Man's protégé Barbee, walked away with two awards at the recently concluded Excellence in Music and Entertainment (EME) awards shows held in the Gardens of the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in New Kingston.
The show which is the brainchild of radio broadcaster Richard Burgess more popularly knows as "Richie B" saw the young singer taking home the coveted awards for Best New Artiste (female) and also Best Collaboration which she shared with Beenie Man for the song 'Give It Up" on Mario C's Revenge riddim.
Some of the other recipients were, Buju Banton for Album of the Year, Dancehall's Bad Boy Mavado, Sinjay of the Year, Tarrus Riley copped two EMEs for Vocalist of the Year and Song of the Year for 'She's Royal'. While Munga was handed the Best New Artiste (male) and the king of the dancehall, Beenie Man took away, Song of the Year (dancehall) and Deejay of the Year.
This was the fourth staging of the EME awards and also the first time the event has been held outside of the Studios of Hot 102 FM.
