A Police Corporal was on Saturday morning among a group of persons, who were picked up at a dance on St. John's Road on the outskirts of Spanish Town, St. Catherine.
RJR News understands that the policeman is attached to the Caribbean Search Centre, which is based at the Jamaica Police Academy in Twickenham Park in the parish.
It is reported that about 12:30, the police went to a dance in the community after receiving information that gunshots were being fired.
The police searched the premises and found a Taurus .38 revolver on the ground.
It is alleged that the policeman was among a group of persons who were firing shots inside the dance.
He was spotted by his colleagues while trying to conceal his licensed firearm and was accosted along with 27 other men.
