Dancehall deejay Danielle a.k.a DI has issued a statement through her publicity team seeking to clear up a misconception that a line in her Beat It remix with Vybz Kartel is an overt reference to Michelle Downer-Davis, who is also known as DAngel. CLICK HERE TO LISTEN TRACK

This remix with Kartel is just that, a simple remix with myself and Vybz Kartel on a song that is quite popular in the dancehall. It has nothing to do with any other female artiste, and certainly nothing to do with Michelle Downer a.k.a DAngel, I spoke my mind on a prior rhythm, Ole Axle on the Truckback label and this remix has nothing to do with her or any other female artiste, the statement said.

The line which the dancehall fans believe is directed at Michelle Downer is: Mi no bow inna devotion, Michelle go do it/No apple for the teacher, Kartel no eat

Last year, Danielle openly courted controversy when she recorded Man Weh Mi No Waan  which vented her none-too-pleasant feelings towards D'Angel. The song got a lot of airplay in December. The song got her a big forward at Sting 2007, and established her as a talent to watch for in the 2008.

The release also added: "I am not a one-dimensional artiste, I have been working hard with a number of other producers to do songs of substance, and the public can look out for songs such as 'I'm Sorry' done for No Doubt Records and a wicked one-drop called One More Try for producer Casper."

She has also worked with Sly and Robbie for whom she scored the 'Brown Girl in the Ring' hit with Beenie Man.
