This movie is a must see. Without spoiling it too much I would call it a cross between Blair Witch Witch and Godzilla. It was like somebody reached into my nightmares and made a movie. I have not seen a movie like this since Pulse and the Japanese film The Host. Awesome Fx. I like the way it was shot from a viewers perspective so that the audience would experience things along with the characters. The audience only knew what the characters knew. People who are used to everything being explained to them might not appreciate this movie, hence the Blair Witch reference. I love it like Pulse I can't wait for the sequel.
Attention SPOILER do not read. The very last scene hinted at the creatures origins in the background something large can be seen coming out of the sky and going into the sea. Rumor has it at the end of the credits (which I stayed for) I heard a radio message but could not make out the words. Apparently the message when played in reverse said,"It's still alive." Earning over 17million on Friday alone will solidify the making of a sequel.
It is not the traditional movie and the viewer would have appreciate the context in which the story was told. It is not for the general audience that has everything explained in a neat package. The sequel should have all that. Blair Witch project was the first film that I saw that employed this technique of story telling. Raw footage like this made it seem more real, kinda of like Gonzo style of porn. First person experience. Some will like it some will hate it.
