This is Matisyahu (pronounced Mattis-Yahoo), the "#1" Reggae artiste. The song and video is actually good. It raises my concern for our local artistes. What do you think is our problem or issue. Is it that our artistes can't carry on the reggae tradition, lack of exposure or is racism still prevalent today and "white" people want the music for themselves?
it's not a bad song and it's nothing to be worried about. this guy is lucky because he has some talent, is very marketable in places like NY and he is from the u.s. where the rating of #1 dj probably came from.
Not bad, although i really cant understand what hes saying. I need more captions.
Maybe its links, maybe its the video production. But seriously though, u notice he aint talking about skettels, sex, blings and batty man, guns etc. so maybe thats the whole concept... i dont know. Jamaicans are getting too one note. People want songs they can relate to personally. Jamaicans are mostly relating to jamaicans, the rest of the world dont care too much about skettels and bun this and that and buss up people face etc
my thoughts on that are too much to even type. in a nutshell ill say this man is an orthodox jew and he has figured out that our music is a powerful vessel that can be used to forward his philosophies of peace (somethnig he learned from bob marley, no doubt) and has used it to garner international success. if im not mistaken, he won a grammy last year. we need fi cool wid di gun ting and forward some positivity, else we ago lose everyting weh we great reggae pioneers work fah.
lol, yea i need more, some words were there flying around that gave me an idea of what he was singing about. lol I dont know what jewish people believe the world is moving from traditional practices these days, cant tell at all.
ok ok i hear what you ppl saying but it kinda souns like u guys mixin dance hall an reggae. I'm talking about singers like I wayne Gyptian, Sizzla. They are positive and conscious especially I wayne who is my reggae artiste lol
