Rene Simoes, the man who led the Jamaica to the 1998 World Cup, is confident that the Reggae Boyz could repeat and qualify for the 2010 finals in South Africa.
Simoes, returned as Saturday as technical director in time for the start of CONCACAF World Cup qualifying, after a 7 year absence.
He said Jamaica has the potential to do it get to the World Cup finals again, but it will be more difficult this time.
The 54-year-old Brazilian, who also coached Trinidad & Tobago, led the Brazil women's national team to the gold medal match at the 2004 Olympics.
He also spent the past two seasons helping in the promotion of Cortiba FC to the premier league in Brazil.
He said local based players need not worry as his principles will be the same as before.
Goal keeper Coach, Chico Santos also arrived Saturday, while assistant coach, Alfredo Montesso is set to arrive on Monday.
Jose Aleyandre Monteiro will be the new physical trainer.
Simoes, who plans to play at least 25 games per year, will begin his first competitive assignment on February 6, when the Reggae Boyz oppose Costa Rica.
