One of the years most anticipated events, the New Years Eve party 11:59 last night almost had it's tag line changed from 'one minute to midnite' to 'one minute to fight night'.
The event held at the Estate aka Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre, was almost marred by incidents of violence, there were two alleged cases but only one was confirmed. The first incident allegedly was between Biggy from the Bembe Squad and one of the promoters of the event.
876radio.com was not in the venue at the time of the alleged altercation, but when we got there we overheard a lot of chatter that something had just ensued between the Bembe selector and the promoter.
In an exclusive interview with 876radio.com, Biggy said that there was no altercation between him and anyone it was just simple a case that Police came to the venue and asked that the sound system be turned down, and the mere presence of the lawmen caused a crowd to gather, so people looking on thought it was a fight or something of the sort.
"After di man dem seh the sound fi turn down, everybody just move to the next section of the party where the other sound system was playing and continued to party". he added.
This account of the incident was confirmed by famed selector Ghetto Bomb and another promoter of the event.
But the nights proceedings never ended there as upon adjournment another fight broke out. This time it was between Shaggy (not the entertainer) from Bembe fame and a young man. This incident we did witness as the young man was walking out of the venue with his colleagues his foot got ran over by Shaggy who was driving a silver Honda Torneo motorcar.
A bit upset about what had just ensued the young man proceeded to kick the car and that's when Shaggy rushed out, during the melee he was hit in the head by an accomplice of the young man and *lo** could be seen sprewing from his head. The young man was draped and roughed up by Shaggy, But thanks to the pleas of the crowd and the quick action of our journalist turn referee the incident was quickly quelled.
This years' staging of the event was very successful as all promises were delivered including the nine champagne bars, fireworks and great music.
