The holiday season is upon us and the security forces are in anything but a festive mood. Recently there has been a series of raids carried out by the army and police personnel at several prominent stage show and parties, to weed out criminal elements that has been plaguing the society for some time now. Last weekend was no different, as patrons partied on the Hip Strip in New Kingston they got a very unpleasant surprised.
According to our sources two of the cities most prominent night clubs Asylum and Quad were almost turned into a concentration camps when heavily armed police and soldiers stormed into the club shutting them down simultaneously and proceeded to search everyone.
It's alleged the reason for the invasion was a shooting had taken place earlier somewhere in the city and the security forces were tipped that the culprits were seen heading into one of the clubs.
During the melee no one was arrested but checks by 876radio.com revelaed that some men were taken away for questioning , and we are not sure it they were later released or arrested.
Many are attributing this new method of crime fighting to the newly appointed Commissioner of Police the former Army Officer Rear Admiral Hardley Lewin, who since his swearing in to office has vowed to rid the streets of the country of the plague of crime and violence.
