Portmore Empire first lieutenant Deva Bratt explained to One876Entertainment.com the run-up of incidents that led to an onstage brawl with dancehall top deejay Munga the Honorebel a.k.a the Gangsta Ras at the Stone Love anniversary dance at the Mas Camp in New Kingston.
"Munga was up there talking about 'some p*^%y a call up mi name', and then him mention autotune, so mi realize say ah me him a call up, so mi go onstage fi deal with lyrics but mi never expect fi engage inna physical battle with Munga. As me go onstage, one of Munga friend dem step to me, so mi dispose of him, and as mi do that, and step up to the front, Munga gimme an unexpected kunk with the microphone," he said.
"Him say him bad from him born wid lyrics, so why him haffi lick me? When him lick me, mi fling two punch inna him eye, and dem him back out him ratchet and ah shape. So mi just say Stone Love, don't get it twisted, ah music same way, we just ah do this fi mek some money because music is life, although the way some bwoy a pree the ting, it can mean death as well," he said.
Deva Brat also critical of Stone Love selector Billy Slaughter who pushed him offstage in a bid to end the onstage fracas that raged for more than a minute.
"Billy Slaughter say a bag a tings, but him shouldân get involved inna it da way deh. Me and Munga have a standoff to finalise, but him go intervene, ah Stone Love event still and we apologise fi the excitement that we cause, especially to Wee Pow, but I was not the aggressor in this," he told One876Entertainment.com.
Deva Bratt said that he wasn't physically hurting by Munga's punches.
"We used to physical punch up, and fighting, is a joy differentlyâ¦" he said, laughing.
"Him gimme a solid lick and mi give him couple punch inna him face, but we nah retaliate further, that would be bad for the music. But why Munga try this? Me see him the other day at the studio and him neva approach me, but now when it reach the public, him ah try humiliate me when him know say me ah deal wid mi ting lyrics. Muinga, if it was a war, I wouldn't be on stage with you, me woulda bring a page to you," he said.

althoug mi nuh hear too much from deva brat weh mi rate.. mi rate him fi dat response... a big mon ting!mi feel seh munga neva know seh a lyrics deva did waan deal wit.. and he was the aggresssor since him push di bwoy offa di stage SEE A MAN'S FACE.. YUH NUH SEE 'IM 'ART!!!!
deva brat is sensible still he's responded to this in a way which i didnt expect but knowing addi , him nuh easy needa an i dnt think that devra is gona tek dis so light needa his response is jus 4 the public he's playing the beenie man role rite now (victim)
as said sensible people cant really associate with dark non-sensical people, wat kind of response munga road manager come wit, him sound like a dunce. deva u a di boss. jus gwan do ur ting and go through mi bredda
Deva's response sounds good and well thought up. Deva deserved what he got though. He approached Munga and pushed off Munga's "battyfollower" with no mic in his hand. If he wanted a lyrical clash he should have gone to the dj area and asked for a mic. Everyone knows Munga nah hol' no meds and will attack if given a reason to. Plus it was Munga's set time to perform. Overall, Deva's approach to Munga on the stage wasn't the correct way of starting a lyrical clash.

true still but wat was he to do if the follower a push him off first lol, the whole situation jus messed up n twisted and the man dem fi learn from this
Dat me a defend too @ Honorebel. Deva Bratt needs to start producing hit tunes that reach number 1 on the charts and stop look a hype off the clashing thing. I'm tired with the clash thing cause these clashes lame compared to past clashes, such as Ninjaman vs the entire industry and Bounty vs. Beenie be4 Angel did drop in.
Dats why me rate Busy Signal over most of the dancehall artists. Him no inna di clash ting too much. A chart toppers him defend.
