Hmm... For me, he shouldnt have any reasons to cheat. I know long distance can break or make any person but even though u have cravings for an act (not necessarily for another) the strong concrete relationship should give u enough flair to overcome it. If that doesnt work, then its a matter of understanding what actually happen and trying to find the logics on if it can continue to work out without it being thrown back in the person's face whenever a disagreement occur or due to the lack of trust because of the event.

I know i may seem like i'm mad, but sometimes its not worth throwing away a good relationship over a little misguided judgement, at least without a good discussion on the reason behind it.
