In St. James an internal gang feud has been identified as the motive behind yesterday's killing of two women in the parish, who were gunned down less than 12 hours apart.
The dead women have been identified as 39-year-old Mauric Davis and Jenice Gordon, 21, both of Bottom Pen in Glendevon, St. James.
They are among four persons who were killed in the parish between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. Eighteen-year-old Devon Gardener was shot to death by gunmen in Somerton on Tuesday. To date, 173 persons have been killed in St. James since January, five fewer than the total recorded in 2006.
The women are said to be mother and sister for two of St. James' prime crime figures - Anthony 'Bollo' Christie and former Stone Crusher leader, Rohan 'Don' Gordon.
Gordon was fatally shot in a confrontation with the police in the Hendon, Norwood, community back in May.
"This young lady killed here is the sister of Rohan Gordon, who was also a leader of one of the main gangs that operate here in St. James," said Supt. Steve McGregor, head of the St. James Police Division, who was at Jenice Gordon's murder scene.
