paddy cake video launched at clarlos cafe

'Paddy Cake' video launched at Clarlos Cafe
04-Dec-07 |

There was a late start at the launch of Bar-Bee's new singles Paddy Cake featuring Beenie Man and Diva in My Sneakers at the Carlos Café last night and One876Entertainment.com was 'in da building'. At a few minutes after 9 p.m., the emcee Milk from the CVM Communications Group kicked off things by reading excerpts from Barbee's biography.

Beenie_Barbee.jpgShe then called on Beenie Man to say a few words about Barbee.

Beenie Man spoke cursorily about how the hit single, Give It Up as well as Paddy Cake were recorded saying that Barbee, after weeks of trying, made contact with him and she came to the studio "straight from the airport".

"I was doing Give It Up, and she added her voice to it otherwise I would be singing to myself, and she gave me a solid, so me give her back a solid and drop a few lines on her song in the studio," he said.

Beenie Man closed by telling the audience "to look out for more work with Beenie and Barbee".

At Milk's request, Beenie Man also explained her role in making the links which gave him the opportunity to perform with Alicia Keys at the American Music Awards, and even chose the song he was supposed to sing.

During her brief address, Barbee, looking poised and almost glowing with confidence, implored the audience to "ignore the gossip and pay attention to the music". She described the New York set of the video shoot, and gave a bit of insight into the rigorous casting for key characters in the video, especially the boy featured on the playground at the start of the video. The video was shot in a playground, at a diner, and on the streets of New York where Bar-bee literally stops traffic as she rolls her seductive thighs and bumper down the street.

The video was then premiered for the audience, and played on the TV screens set up all over the venue, while Fire and Ice from the Ihata Dancers danced seductively in white steel cages set up for that purpose. Artistes such as Cecile, Empress and Daville were also present.
