Rodney King, the videotaped victim of a beating by LAPD officers, whose acquittal sparked the Los Angeles riots in 1992, was shot late last night, according to San Bernardino police.
While there is still speculation as to what King was shot with, the 42-year-old was shot in the face and arm with either a pellet gun or a shotgun while riding his bike back to his home in Rialto.
Sgt. Don Lewis said, He had been struck in the face and arm with a shotgun. King reported that the shooting occurred at 5th Street and Meridian Avenue in San Bernardino, just east of the Rialto city line.
Once police arrived at Kings home, others inside appeared intoxicated and according to Lewis, a few were cooperative in providing information. As Rialto officers contacted San Bernardino police to take over the investigation, King was taken to a local hospital, where his condition is still unknown although the wounds were not believed to be life-threatening.
With injuries minor King, 42, completed his ride home before calling police. At this current time, not much is known at this point.
