Four-month-old stolen

It is now more than a week since a stranger disappeared with Kerry-Ann Pusey's four-month-old baby but she is still as puzzled as the day the incident occurred.

Pusey has been a worried mother since November 12, when her baby, Annabelle Taylor, was taken away. The mother of Salt Pond Road in Spanish Town, said that on the morning in question, at about 11 a.m., an unknown female entered her yard and told her that one of her neighbours wanted to take the child to the supermarket with her. She gave the child to the stranger.

Sometime in the afternoon however, the neighbour came back home and Pusey made enquiries as to the whereabouts of the child. The neighbour told her at that time that she had no knowledge of the child's whereabouts and that she did not send for the baby.

The four-month-old was Pusey's fourth child and she told THE STAR that she was tricked into handing over her child because her neighbour had taken out the baby on several occasions. She said she had no reason to doubt the woman's story. The stranger, she said, was of clear complexion and medium build and height.

Pusey now says she doesn't know how she will survive and live without Annabelle. "Right now I am stressed out and don't know how I will cope," she said. She revealed that since Annabelle's disappearance, she has hardly slept or eaten and said she is having difficulties thinking straight because of the pressure. "I am feeling very sad and also deeply depressed as I don't know what they are doing to my child or her whereabouts. I can't believe people can be so wicked."

The Spanish Town Police say that they are taking a special interest in the case and have started their investigation to find the missing infant.

At least 10 children under 10 years old have gone missing since the start of the year in the St. Catherine North police division.
