Beleaguered deejay Beenie Man is enroute to the English-speaking Caribbean island of Dominica for a festival, and will not return to Jamaica until the weekend to tackle his legal problems with the government regarding his unpaid taxes.

Beenie Mans road manager Kevin said that he left from New York to go to Dominica because it wouldnt make sense for him to come here because he would have to jump back on a plane to head to Dominica, so he went straight there to help promote the festival. Beenies lawyers have been able to broker some sort of agreement with the cops for him to go in with his lawyer,  said a member of Beenie Mans

The case continues to generate international attention and media outlets in New York have picked up the story. Last year, Isley Brothers lead singer Ronald Isley was sentenced to three years and one month in prison for tax evasion. Isley was also ordered to pay $3.1 million in back taxes to the Internal Revenue Service.

Popular entertainers like James Brown in the United States has served time for tax evasion, while actor Wesley Snipes failed to file taxes for six years and is facing a maximum of 16 years behind bars.
