International reggae star Wayne Wonder officially launched his new album, "Foreva" in New York City this week. Hundreds of media houses, industry heavyweights, and fans packed the exclusive Manhattan venue, The Manor, to join the celebration. Wonder unveiled tracks from the new album, and was joined by Shaggy, Mr. Vegas, Assassin, Red Fox, and Rayvon for some impromptu freestyles, much to the crowd's delight.
"This is how an album release should be," commented veteran New York disc jockey DJ Roy, of Irie Jam Radio 93.5 FM. With a huge projection screen looping Wayne Wonder images and videos, and the bevy of media, the venue was rammed as patrons vied to catch a glimpse of the action.
"The last album went gold so I'm going for platinum this time," stated an obviously exuberant Wonder, surrounded by friends and colleagues, including his official DJ Lion Face of King Addies, "Foreva" producers Snow Cone and Riddim Fingaz, "No Letting Go" video director, Little X and Jay Will, who directed his latest video "Again."
Wonder answered critics who've been lamenting the late follow up to his Grammy-nominated "No Holding Back" (2003). "I make music day and night, so even though it's been a while since the last album, this one didn't take long to make because I've still been recording and putting music out every day."
"Foreva" features vocal and production collaborations with hip-hop diva Trina, Don Corleon and Sly & Robbie, and sees Wonder as its executive producer. Released by VP Records and Singso Records (Wonder's label), "Foreva" is now available worldwide in stores and online.
