What does the ‘Beenie boo’ at Striptease 3: Jungle Extasy really mean? Is Beenie losing his touch or are the fans finally fed up of the ongoing Beenie-Bounty conflict? Last week Saturday, Beenie was roundly booed by fans where he was the major headliner alongside Lady Saw and Mavado. The size of the audience was nothing to write home about either as fewer than 1,000 people showed up at the Students Activity Centre at UTech.
Some media personnel are actually dubbing it “the boo heard around the world”.
But how did it all go wrong so fast?
The stage was set for Beenie Man. He hit the stage singing ‘Dun Know Di P---y Dem No Like Me’ before he eased into ‘Come Again’, and the crowd was eating up every word he said.
Then things took a turn for the worse.
“He was performing well until him draw ‘Bulleta’, and then started talking ‘bout Angel and then the crowd start boo. Is one man start it and it spread, is like Beenie Man is not the same commanding artiste him used to be,” one patron said later to a One876Entertainment.com reporter.
Beenie Man invited out his wife, Michelle ‘D’Angel’ Downer to perform. D’Angel did her top ten hit, ‘Downtown Girl’ before another round of boos drowned out her attempt at doing ‘Baby Daddy’.
Unperturbed, the Doctor then did ‘Hump Inna Yu’ and they exited the stage
Earlier, introduced onstage by his musical son, Mavado, Bounty Killer had performed ‘50 Calliba’, and had left the stage with the terse warning, ‘Alliance Yu Diss, Yu Get Bullet’.
Beenie Man's withdrawal Beenie’s fans will have to wait a few weeks to see him again as he is not on this weekend’s ‘Follow Di Arrow’ show. In the meantime, the ‘Beenie backlash’ continues full force.
A press release from Dexton Ennis, promoter of the show, advised the public that Moses Davis a.k.a Beenie Man has removed himself along with Michelle Davis, a.k.a. D’Angel, from show.
The release said: “At an advance stage of advertising & promotion, Beenie Man has decided that he would not perform with Grace Hamilton a.k.a. Spice.”
“As the promoter of the show, promoting “uniting the music” I was not willing to remove any Artiste to suite another, from the line up. As a result, Beenie Man has decided that he will not perform at the event,” Mr. Ennis said.
‘Magnum Follow Di Arrow’ will go on as planned on Saturday, February 24th, at James Bond Beach, Oracabessa St. Mary and promises to deliver first class performance as evident from the line up below.
The line up features heavyweight names such as Buju Banton Sizzla, Capleton, Ninja Man, Mr. Vegas, Elephant Man and Anthony B. Don Mafia and Spice, two of Beenie's most vocal adversaries, are also billed for the show.
