Dancer Keiva 'the Diva' recently ventured into unfamiliar waters when she recorded her first official song called 'Problem'.

According to Keiva, it was not planned, but as circumstances would have it, producer Mr. G has a studio in the same plaza where she recently opened her store, called 'Keiva's Kloset'.

"I'm a dancer, mi nuh really waan fi be an artiste, but tru me have a store inna di same plaza weh Goofy have him studio, he came to my store to see how it was and I decided to go over an visit him. But Goofy wasn't at the studio when I went, but the engineer dem a seh a full time mi do a song.

"Now my assistant in the store (Nerrisa Miller, aka Borderline) was a song writer an mi not even did know. Mi shock mi si shi back out ar note book an a seh wah di riddim name, an dem seh 'Problem' an immediately dem start write di song an Mr. G come in an hear di hook an love it," Keiva said.

She also added, "Wi voice di tune the next day and Big A off di radio was there an ting a encourage mi."

hard work

Keiva says "The song is about me, my store, my success, yuh know, the hard work weh mi guh through to have something in life. It just happen like dat, boom bam."

Although Keiva says it's not something that she really wants to do, because of her extreme shyness to take up a microphone, she says, "Ding Dong, Bogle, everybody (dancers) do it, suh might as well mi just do it to, but it's just for fun, because my thing is about being a dancer and a businesswoman. I don't really have the guts to go out before people an take a mic, I'm too shy for that - but when it come on to dance, a could a million people, mi a guh out deh."

Keiva, who has not been in the public domain recently, says, "Don't think that I stop dance, but because my store just open and I'm the manager, mi jus a tek some time, but I will be returning to the streets soon - Bembe Thursdays mi a mek mi return, because I haven't been on the streets in a while."

Keiva recently featured in a number of music videos, including, Tek Weh Yuh Self, by Vegas, Killa Swing by Ding Dong, a new video with RBX featuring her new dance called 'Earthquake' and Vegas' cricket song, Glory Days, with Overmars.
