Aidonia diss Skatta and others on 'December Deadline'

IPB Image
Aidonia, recently named People’s Choice artiste of the year 2006, continues to remain a controversial figure at the heart of the friction between The Alliance and deejay Vybz Kartel. Things are further complicated by the fact that he has cultivated a personal dislike for fellow Alliance member Busy Signal. This combination of circumstances merely adds to the broiling tensions in dancehall’s most powerful group.

Aidonia’s latest single, ‘December Deadline’ on the Black Chiney label will not remove those tensions anytime soon.

“Nobody nuh have nothing fi lose, Aidonia is just talking the truth about things in Jamaica, people just don’t want to see him reach a level in dancehall., Skatta ah mek remarks and going around, yuh cannot bring police to people’s house under false, him done say him ah go stop the man career already,” Kirk Roberts, the artiste’s manager told One876Entertainment.com.

The words of ‘December Deadline’ read like a clear challenge to Aidonia’s detractors and doubters. He straight up disses Billboard-topping producer Cordel ‘Skatta’ Burrell with the lines:

Buss mi gun blood run like when
Girl come pon Skatta tongue…

He also makes references to a pre-Sting incident where the producer and the deejay faced off in front of cops at the deejay’s home.

Ah the eight batty bwoy weh Skatta line up
Ah dem the glock a bind up

Then he gives it to Busy Signal, documenting his career doldrums with the line ‘Him future look cloudy like bad weather. He also issues a sort-of apology for the ‘suck yuh madda’ comment at Sting 2006.

INTERVIEWER: Who is Aidonia loyal to, Kartel or the Alliance?

“It is not a matter of being loyal, he is loyal to himself, that’s the main thing. He is doing what is best for himself and his career, his career comes first, is just all about music, me and others around him are going ensure that his career goes to the highest level, nobody is going to stop him,” Kirk said.

Kirk also denied that Aidonia exited the Spectrum stage last weekend to a rain of bottles.

“He never got bottled offstage, he did six songs before him do ‘December Deadline’ on the Drumline riddim. Him get a forward, and him affi pull up all over again, when him reach the part ah talk about a specific artiste, mi see a one bottle throw, Aidonia stop and tell some man say nobody move , the one man who fling the bottle ah coward. We apologise to the UWI again but it was the heat of the moment…after the bottle throwing thing, him do ‘Bushkash’ and leave the stage, he wasn’t bottled offstage,” he said.
