Sorry to already shatter your expectations. An exception to the mostly mainstream camera gear we're scoping today is this working prototype of Leica's super-high-end S2 DSLR, a spartan tank of a 37-megapixel camera.

 

 

 

What I love about it is the interface and designthe back is absolutely barren compared to most cameras, with just a dial, a switch and four buttons for its quadrant-style menu system. Each button dives into a single section, where you adjust the relevant settings. Another neat touch is the focusing setup. Hold the shutter down halfway as usual to auto-focus, but if you want to switch manual, you don't have to slide a togglejust turn the focus ring.

It's coming out later this summer for a pro photographer or super-rich guy near you. But it's always nice to window shop, yeah?

But wait! Thats not the end of the story. Those are the biggest diamonds on earth, but their size is pitiful compared to the biggest diamond in the universe: BPM37093, aka the diamond star, at 10 billion trillion trillion carats! Dubbed Lucy (from the Beatles song Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds), its the compressed heart of an old star that was as bright as our sun but is now faded and miniscule. But the chunk of crystallised carbon is still a mind-boggling 4,000 kilometers in diameter.

If you think youd like to get some of it to bring back home, theres a small problem: its 50 light-years away from here. That means light takes 50 years to reach it. And another 50 get back here. Hence, travelling at the speed of light, youll still never make it - the round trip alone takes 100 years.

Equipment is another problem. Astronomer Travis Metcalfe, who led the team of researchers that discovered Lucy said that youd need a jewellers loupe the size of the sun to grade this diamond. So how lah?

Perhaps the sun is a better choice. It will become a white dwarf too, and light only takes 8 minutes to reach it.

However, the wait is a little bit too long for most of us. Astronomers said that it will only become a giant diamond 7 billion years from now, when its ember core crystallises.

German Tuner Ruf has been modifying Porsches for years, and the CTR3 (it debuted in 2007) is the third iteration of it acclaimed CTR-series car, the first of which was known as "Yellowbird." This Ruf has a wicked bite thanks to its massively massaged 3.8L Porsche flat six, with supercar 0 to 62 mph time of just 3.2 sec. The CTR3 blasts on to a hair-raising top speed of 235 mph, which places it very high up the terminal velocity food chain.

The Mercedes-Benz G-Class is the definition of a rolling brick, but that doesn't mean it can't go fast, as Benz's AMG division has already proven with the G55 AMG. Apparently, German tuning house Brabus -- who specializes in making already stupid fast Benz cars and SUVs even faster and more exclusive - decided the G55 wasn't fast enough. So Brabus shoehorned its most powerful M-B derived engine -- the 700-hp 6.3L V-12 biturbo -- into the G-Class. Who are we to disagree?  If owners can keep the tires from melting (literally), 62 mph comes in a scant 4.3 sec before hitting a limited 150 mph top speed. Forget about entering the corners, because despite the tuned running gear, the G V12 is still a top-heavy behemoth, but a stupid fast one. Oh, and it costs about $480,000 if you were wondering.

If the ultra-exclusivity of the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 just isn't enough, Masonry offers the LINEA Vincerò, a new individualization program for the automotive marvel. It includes a reshaped and carbon-fiber-wrapped exterior, with LED daytime running lights and forged wheels. The interior feature ambient LED lighting as well, illuminating the seats, door linings and dashboard. The bucket seats sport an embroidered Vincerò logo. Revised intake and exhaust systems raise the already-stout output to 1109 hp and 966 lb-ft of torque. It's safe to assume the Veyron's 253 mph top speed is in jeopardy.
