WHEN THE CLOCKS GO BACK IN 2010....

October 14, 2010
Started By TBDGlamma4 Comments

As we are now into September the nights are drawing in and we know that soon we will be putting our clocks back an hour and we'll be heading into Winter. Where has the summer gone?

So when do the clocks go back this year?

It will be on Sunday October 31st at 2am which is the last Sunday in October, meaning it will be dark early on for Halloween. This is for the UK...in the USA the clocks go back a week later on the first Sunday of November.

So don't forget to put your clocks back and enjoy your extra hour in bed :)

No good deed goes unpunished. Despite being a good Samaritan and helping prevent an attempted suicide yesterday, T.I. is now being faced with critics who question his motives.

The Got Your Back hitmaker rushed to the scene upon hearing that a man was threatening to leap to his death from the top of a 22-story building in downtown Atlanta on Wednesday (Oct. 13). He made a detour on the way to a video shoot and offered to help the cops, persuading the man to come down using a heartfelt video message.

Tip, who has a court hearing scheduled Friday for his recent arrest on drug possession, said he was not motivated by his personal interests. For one, Im not taking any credit, he told V103s Ryan Cameron. I didnt do it I couldve just as well came down there and it could have been resolved in another way. The fact of the matter is that God put me in a position to help, and I cant take any credit for that.

I didnt wake up this morning with the intentions of going down and helping hostage negotiators talk someone down off of a ledge. I dont think that could be in anyones plan of action. If not me, then who? If not now, then when? Sometimes life happens certain ways.

Atlanta officer James Polite vouched for Tip. He didnt have to stop. He couldve kept on going about his business, he told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Were happy it ended the way it did, and we thank him.

The rapper also delivered a message to his supporters who have been disappointed by his repeat run-ins with the law. All of those who have been let down by these circumstances, I want to give you my sincerest apologies and let you know that I will make it up to you and make you proud in the future.

T.I. played a key role in talking a suicidal man off the ledge of a 22-story building in Atlanta today ... TMZ has learned.

It all went down earlier this afternoon -- when cops responded to a 911 call about a man who was threatening to jump off a building in downtown Atlanta ... the same building where Ryan Cameron's Radio Show on V103 is based.

We're told T.I. heard about the jumper on the radio -- and called Ryan Cameron to see if there was anything he could do to help out with the situation.

Ryan Cameron tells us ... he told T.I. to roll over to the building, where the rapper met with police and recorded a heartfelt video message which cops then played for the man on the roof.

We're told after the man saw T.I.'s video he agreed to step off the ledge ... and met T.I. in the lobby, where the two were able to talk things out.

Ryan Cameron also tells us that cops informed the radio station that they will not be pressing charges against the man.

Calls to T.I.'s reps have not been returned.

Whats up 4 Sting 2010

Whats up 4 Sting 2010
Sting 2010..is coming up and it has been lacklustre in terms rivals going at it throughout the year to the extent that it would have been worth mentioning for the big show Sting coming up on Boxing Day 2010. So far the Gulliance and JOP people have been dissing Kartel, Popcaan and even Notnice. Whilst Kartel has been focusing more on his bleaching and recruiting new artist... though word out is that he has penned a response to new artiste from out of the Gulliance camp 3-Star with the Track "Nuh Bad Like We"' which has been getting attention....It would be surprising that he would respond to 3-star when the likes of Deva Bratt, Roach and Aidonia had dissed him several times and there was no reponse. As for last year he didnt want to clash the crazy Bounty Killa..
We are not too sure if Ninja will be released in time for the show, but it would be worth seeing him again with his ole time antics. Up to this day all have come and not have had an impact like Ninja --most of the time dont even have any good lyrics or new to offer..
Perhaps it will be low keyed Sting 2010, it is still early days yet though...

International recording artiste Chaka Demus - one half of the most successful deejay-singer recording duo in reggae history, Chaka Demus and Pliers - is recovering in hospital after a major life-saving surgical operation.

The deejay had gone to the Andrews Memorial Hospital last Tuesday for a routine check-up to prepare for an upcoming European tour. However, the attending physician immediately realised that the deejay was bleeding internally and arranged to have a team of specialists perform emergency surgery.

"I was rushed into surgery, and I looked up and a team of specialists surrounded me and then I was out," said Chaka, whose real name is John Taylor.

DJ thankful

He is now recuperating after the gruelling four and a half hour operation that successfully stopped the bleeding. It is not clear when the deejay will be released to recuperate at home, but he is thankful to members of the reggae industryand his fans for lending their support in his time of need.

Last month, Chaka reunited with his long-time friend and musical partner Pliers to record a new single called California One Night Stand on the Free People Entertainment label. He apologised for "scaring" his fans and promised that he would be completing his album once he regains his strength.

Chaka admitted the health scare has strengthened his belief in a higher power.

"I knew there was a God from ever since, but now God ah show me some signs fi take care of myself," he said. "Over the years, I have not taken the best care of myself or done regular check-ups but now I have learnt my lesson, I am going to change my lifestyle."

Top hits in uk

The duo was the first Jamaican act to have three consecutive top-five hits on the United Kingdom (UK) Singles Chart. The duo's first hit, Tease Me, stayed in the top-five of the UK Singles Chart for three months in 1993, reaching number three in July of that year. They followed that up with the number one hit, Twist and Shout, a cover of the Isley Brothers' single that topped the UK Singles Chart in early 1994. The duo also scored major hits on the UK top 20 charts with She Don't Let Nobody (UK number four), I Wanna Be Your Man(UK number 19), and Gal Wine (UK number 20).

Earlier this year, the duo filed a US$10-million lawsuit

against Universal Music for trademark infringement and unpaid royalties.

"I remain strong in faith that God will bring me through," were the only words theReverend

Dr Paul Lewis, the globetrotting Jamaican evangelist embattled by a sex scandal, uttered as he exited the Savanna-la-Mar Resident Magistrate's Court on Monday.

Neatly attired in a three-piece black and grey suit, the pastor seemed calm and composed as he spoke with The Gleaner.

Lewis is accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl. He is scheduled to return to the Savanna-la-Mar Resident Magistrate's Court on October 19. He is on a $300,000 bail bond.

Prosecutors are alleging that, last June, the evangelist met the 15-year-old at a church convention in Little London, Westmoreland, where he was a guest preacher.

He reportedly exchanged telephone numbers with the girl and, in a subsequent meeting, took her and a 14-year-old female companion with him on a trip to Clarendon.

Questionable hotel stay

On their return to Westmoreland, the girls stayed with him at a Negril hotel. It was during that night that the alleged sexual encounter took place while her companion watched.

Attorney-at-law Keith Bishop said Lewis remains optimistic that he will be absolved of wrongdoing.

"Pastor Lewis is a Christian who believes that his faith will take him through this difficult period and, as his defence counsel, we intend to see this one through and declare his innocence," the lawyer said.

Bishop reiterated the weakness of the case, based on the evidence that was previously presented, and that the matter should have been dismissed long ago.

According to Bishop, it is now in the hands of Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Dirk Harrison, who will review the file and make a decision on the future of Lewis' case.

The accused pastor holds a doctorate in divinity and is an ordained minister. He is the founder and president of The Messengers For Christ Ministries World Healing Center, based in New York.

Lewis has authored several books, with his most recent being Walking In The Spirit.

PRIME Minister Bruce Golding has dismissed allegations by United States-based media entity Caribbean Voice that he is the holder of a US Alien Registration Card, more popularly known as a Green Card.

In a press release yesterday, Caribbean Voice which said it is based in Brooklyn alleged that Golding did not apply "to revoke his permanent residence before nomination day by filing form I-407, with his green card, at a US Embassy".

But yesterday Golding denied the claims, admitting "that he had applied for and obtained a green card as far back as 1978", but that the visa was surrendered "when he deferred his plans to do postgraduate studies in the US and to return to Jamaica to support the JLP (Jamaica Labour Party) in its preparations for the elections that were held in 1980".

"In bringing clarity to his visa status, Mr Golding explained that in 1977 he had decided to pursue postgraduate studies abroad and was accepted (by) Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. At that time, he applied for permanent residence to enable him to work part-time in the United States in order to meet the cost of living and studying there. The application was approved in August 1978," a release from the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) stated last night.

"However, he subsequently decided to defer these plans in order to assist the JLP in its preparations for the elections that were eventually held in 1980."

The prime minister said before he was sworn in as minister in November 1980, he went to the US Embassy and surrendered his alien registration card "and was granted a non-immigrant visa which has consistently been renewed since then".

Latest Jamaican film opens today

LOCAL audiences should be drawn to Storm Saulter's feature film debut, Better Mus Come for quite a few reasons.

Firstly, Jamaicans enjoy seeing themselves on screen. There are stories of a near riot on opening for the classic, The Harder They Come, back in 1972, as eager fans tried to catch a glimpse of Jimmy Cliff and his fellow castmates on screen. Other local flicks including Cool Runnings, Dancehall Queen and Third World Cop have drawn similar reactions from audiences here. There is something about being able to relate to the characters on screen. For this reason only, there shouldn't be any empty seats at the cinemas in the coming days.

better-open1_w370.jpg

Better Mus' Come is a gritty tale set against the backdrop of 1970's Jamaica and the circumstances which could have possibly led to the infamous Green Bay Massacre.

Saulter's cinematic interpretation of this period in Jamaica's history will offer Jamaicans too young to know an insight into the politics, lifestyle and everyday existence of residents of a Kingston inner-city community. For those around at the time, Better Mus' Come is that graphic reminder of what was.

The story centres around Ricky (Sheldon Shepherd), a young 'leader' in his community who is fighting against forces, both external and within, as he seeks to eek out a better life for himself and those around him, including his young son.

Throw into the mix a lethal combination of party politics, poverty, drugs, the battle for turf, a spiralling crime rate, food shortages, and what you have is a high-octane concoction that is certain to explode. And explode it does.

At another level, part of the film's appeal will come from Saulter's multi-tiered delivery. Better Mus' Come is drama, action, comedy, has romantic elements and can also be viewed as a documentary -- set against the 1978 incident in which five young men were reportedly killed by the armed forces after being lured to the Green Bay area in St Catherine in search of jobs.

Director Saulter, who is also the scriptwriter, chose a young fresh cast to breathe life into his first feature length film. Lead actor Shepherd, is most known for his work as a poet and stage actor. He brings an intensity to his character, undoubtedly gained from his work in theatre. His ability to morph from the fearless gun-toting leader, into the firm yet doting dad and the passionate lover, all in one film, is testament to his range and depth.

Mention must also be made of the oft comedic efforts of Everaldo Creary as shortman. His moments of screen are sure to elicit laughter from audiences. Newcomer Ricardo Orgill who plays Flames, must be the find of this film. Raw and edgy, he brings a sensibility to the character that may have been contrived had a seasoned actor been used for the role.

The film offers an international flair in Hollywood actor Roger Guenever Smith's moments as the Jamaican prime minister. Model Nicole Grey gets her feet wet on screen giving a credible as Ricky's love interest, Kemala.

Better Mus' Come is well worth the long wait for a good Jamaican film. Though not perfect, it will hold its own when pitted against and compared to other local flicks, either those made in Jamaica or made by Jamaicans.

Young director Storm Saulter notes that he hopes Jamaicans well accept his work, giving it the push not just to become a great Jamaican film, but a great independent film.

50 Cent has just completed a deal for his film company that will give it $200 million dollars to fund a 10-picture deal.

Cheetah Vision Films, Randall Emmet and George Furla's Hedge Fund Partners
have signed off on a deal that will allow 50 to expand his ever growing film resume.

Healthcare magnate
Richard Jackson, real estate developer Gary Sakwa and Daniel Ret will provide the equity remainder of the fund. Grindstone/Lionsgate will distribute the films.

The first movie out of the gate will be
'Set Up', an action heist movie that starts shooting next month. Paul Walker is in talks to star alongside 50 in the movie.

Fif recently linked up with Paul of the set of
'The Fast and Furious 5'. You know business was at the top of the agenda.

50centpaulwalker.jpg

'Set Up' revolves around a group of friends involved in a diamond heist that takes a deadly turn.

"
The thing about '50 Cent' is that, just like in his music career, he isn't someone who sits around and waits for things to get done. He came to me and said, 'How do we move quicker on projects?' With this new fund, we are able to do that. It's very hard to raise equity today and we are lucky to have such great partners, including the amazing team of Barry Brooker and Stan Wertlieb of Grindstone and Joe Drake and Helen Kim at Lionsgate," Emmett told Variety.

Under the deal, the films will have a budget of around
$20 million dollars each.

Fif and Richard Jackson have also teamed with Emmet and Furla's,
Emmet/Furla films, for the movie 'Catch 44', which stars Bruce Willis, Forest Whitaker and Malin Ackerman,

50's taking over the big screen, keep it locked here for more news as it becomes available.

The Pic Bubbler app for iPhone transforms photos of swimsuit-clad people into titillating, NSFW-seeming images.

The app, available from iTunes for 99 cents, uses an optical illusion called "bubbling," which strategically covers people's naughty parts (and their clothing), but gives the viewer the impression that the figure is naked.

When you upload a photo of a swimsuit-clad figure, the program applies a transparent layer that you can manipulate using the iPhone's touch screen. You can poke holes--bubbles--in the surface of the transparent layer, opening up patches of skin while keeping clothed areas hidden.

It seems that there is trouble in Hollywood, as Will Smith's upcoming flick Men In Black 3 has been brought to a standstill with a rumored clashing between Will and the producers.

According to The New York Post, the movie had been in pre-production around various locations in New York, but due to clashes between Smith and director Barry Sonnenfeld, shooting on Men in Black 3 has come to halt.

Although it's a rumor most speculate that will and the director were butting heads together and arguing over the script of the third installment.

Sony Pictures denied the allegations in The New York Post and stated the delays were because of recent changes to New York state movie incentives.

"The only reason production will begin in mid-November as opposed to late October is to take advantage of recent changes affecting New York State film incentives," a rep for Sony said in a statement. Suggesting that a disagreement triggered the shift is complete fiction."

Will Smith and Barry Sonnenfeld have successfully worked together with many other movies including the first two movies of the 3 movie series.

JAMAICA will have the seventh slowest growth rate in the world up to 2015, according to a new International Monetary Fund (IMF) report analysed by the Business Observer, indicating missed opportunities for the debt-ridden country.

No cranes dot the capital city's business centre, its roads are filled with holes similar to the tattered clothes of beggars at the stoplights, and oftentimes youth recite an expression that reflects a lack of opportunity -- nothin' nah gwan'. Jamaica, however, can expect more of the same as it is projected to trail some 143 nations in the world in growth statistics, which is a barometer of prosperity. With projections of about 1.3 per cent annually over the next five years, the island will grow three times slower than the world economy, according to charts within the World Economic Outlook (WEO) published this month by the IMF. Unfortunately, the country's output or gross domestic product (GDP) could dip even further due to Tropical Storm Nicole which killed about 13 persons and destroyed infrastructure last month.

"The rains will affect GDP performance because it resulted in loss of productive time. Further, it will widen the fiscal deficit, which has the potential to derail other economic variables and can result in serious problems for the macro-economy, if not managed properly,"said Densil Williams, a Mona School of Business lecturer, in response to Business Observer queries.

The only territories -- amongst 150 -- projected to grow at a slower pace on average than Jamaica over five years are St Kitts & Nevis at 0.3 per cent, oil-rich Venezuela at 0.33 per cent, Brunei Darussalam at 1.03 per cent, Croatia at 1.03 per cent, Antigua at 1.13 per cent and Equatorial Guinea at 1.23 per cent. Interestingly, three of the six territories trailing Jamaica are in the Latin America and Caribbean region. However, generally, the region is projected to outperform the world economy at 4.5 per cent on average over the period, due to stellar performances expected from Brazil, Argentina, the Dominican Republic, Peru, Chile and Colombia.

Jamaica's future reflects its past, having attained only one per cent annual growth over 30 years whilst neighbours have grown at five per cent.

Dancehall & Hip-Hop pioneers

We are HEROES

Sound Systems pioneered the evolution of the Jamaican music industry. In pre-independent Jamaica, 'dance-goers' craved for Calypso, Meringue, and American R&B and Jazz imports especially.

Once the American music industry began to shift its focus from these genres to Rock & Roll, R&B and Jazz, records became scarce in the marketplace. Jamaican sound systems responded to this by recording local imitations of these imports by local singers and bands to be played in dances.

uroy_w370.jpg

In the 1950s, Winston 'Count Machuki' Cooper was the first sound system selector to speak on the sound system's microphone. He was a sound system selector for Clement Dodd's sound system called Sir Coxsone Downbeat.

Count Machuki verbalised phrases and wisecracks wittingly over the parts of songs he deemed to be uninteresting, much to the patrons' delight. His act of 'toasting' became a staple performance for sound system selectors islandwide.

As the popularity of toasting increased, record producers Lee 'Scratch' Perry, Osbourne 'King Tubby' Ruddock and Errol 'Errol T' Thompson began to manipulate recordings and remove audio portions to provide more talking time for selectors over the instrumentation. This was called 'dub.'

Winston 'King Stitt' Sparks and Ewart 'U-Roy' Beckford, were two respective sound system selectors also for Sir Coxsone Downbeat, and were the first to transition Count Macuki's toasting to the recording studio.

In the recording studio, both King Stitt and U-Roy recorded their toasting over dubs, which in turn were sold as 'dub versions' in record shops. The pioneering work of King Stitt and U-Roy's recordings would overtime become classified as a genre of its own called dancehall, from the large hall space that people would gather to dance and hear sound system selectors perform dubs. Classic recordings by King Stitt include Fire Nation and I for I, while U-Roy's catologue includes Rule The Nation and Wake The Town.

In the 1970s another sound system selector known as Dj Kool Herc, migrated from Jamaica to Bronx, New York and introduced toasting to the United States of America. Soon after Dj Kool Herc's introduction, American disc jockeys followed suit and began to toast also.

Eventually American toasting would also gain a genre classification and it was called HipHhop. Dj Kool Herc is regarded as the originator of Hip-Hop and rap music.

JOHANNESBURG (AFP) A South African community group wants US rap star 50 Cent to become the godfather to a rhino who survived a poaching attack after being shot nine times, just like the platinum-selling artiste.

The black rhino, named Phila, survived two poaching attacks this year, despite being shot a total of nine times, community policing group eBlockwatch told South Africas The Sunday Times. 50 Cent, most famous for hits In Da Club and Candy Shop, was also shot nine times as he left drug dealing on the streets of New York to begin his music career.

50-Cent_w370.jpg

We want to ask him if he wants to become the godfather of our rhino so that he can create awareness worldwide about rhino poaching, said Andre Snyman of eBlockwatch, which wants to tackle poaching in addition to its efforts to stop general crime.

Phila was shot twice in July but survived, he told the paper. Her owner on a private farm then cut off her horn to try to protect her, but three weeks later poachers returned, shot her seven times, and tried to hack out the stub.

Rhino poaching has doubled this year in South Africa, with 227 slaughtered so far compared to 122 in all of last year. Experts blame the increase on demand for rhino horns in China and Vietnam, where it is used in traditional medicine.

If the rapper agrees to take on the project, Snyman said Phila could be renamed One Pound, because shes bigger than 50 Cent.

The Office of Utilities Regulations (OUR) contends that Jamaica will not only miss out on savings on fuel imports by switching to natural gas, but would have to spend over US$2.4 billion more to build new plants over the next 20 years if it wants to continue as "business-as-usual".

In its Generation Expansion Plan drafted in August, the OUR examined three main expansion strategies natural gas only, a mix of coal and natural gas and the "business-as-usual"casse over a 20-year planning horizon.

The regulator determined that "the total capacity that will be required by 2029 to both meet the increasing demand for electricity and displace aged existing plants" was 1,360 megawatts (MW) and estimated the cost of building natural gas-fired plants to generate that amount of electricity at approximately US$5.77 billion.

However, the OUR estimates that using a hybrid natural gas and coal strategy the total cost would be approximately US$5.85 billion while business as usual would cost US$8.18 billion.

What's more the natural gas plant build out would require 14 plants commissioned in 12 installations versus the 21 diesel and oil-fired plants that would have to be built in 15 instalments should expansion be undertaken in much the manner it has been done for decades gone.

"The business-as-usual strategy demonstrates that the continued proliferation of petroleum based fuels is not sustainable and unresponsive to the national energy policy objectives," said the report.

"New baseload capacity is urgently required in the system, but given the expected constraints regarding construction time and/or fuel availability, it is unlikely that any such plant can be in place before 2014," it continued. "This study recommends the commissioning 360 MW (3x120MW) of natural gas-fired combined cycle capacity in 2014. Of this amount, 292 MW will be for displacement of aged, inefficient capacity and the remainder for demand growth requirements."

Partygoers did not care to figure out what 'Stulla' meant, or was, but instead busied themselves drinking and dancing at the jam-packed second instalment of Guinness Stulla Wednesdays, held at The New Quad, in New Kingston, last week.

An elated Gary Dixon, brand manager for Guinness, said the response has been amazing.

"We knew that people wanted a dancehall night. But, we didn't know that the people really wanted it this badly," Dixon said.

"The combination between Guinness, Quad and Mavado has been amazing," he added.

He also encouraged patrons to continue coming out to the weekly series, as there will be ticket giveaways for the Arthur Guinness Celebration to be held at the National Stadium on October 23.

"After that we will have the crazy vibe going into Christmas," he added.

The New Quad-exclusive event was attended by Mavado, who was responsible for the name of the series, inspired by one of his popular songs of the same name. Beenie Man also came out to party, so did Future Fambo, Nikki Z, Flexxx, Kibaki, Singing Sweet and other members from the entertainment fraternity.

At minutes after 11 p.m., the event was packed numerous women who came out early to take advantage of the ladies-free-before-midnight deal, and they were numerous!

"Stulla represents a part of the dancehall culture, you know the whole gyalist mentality. So, it's genuinely a good vibe, both the ladies and the men will love the vibe," said Ibrahim 'Ib' Konteh, PR and marketing officer for The New Quad.

"The September-to-October period is normally a slow period for clubs everywhere but, as you can see right now, we are at full capacity, really," he added.

He continued: "The club scene has been missing an authentic dancehall night for years now, and that is what we are bringing back with this series."

Music for the night was provided by resident selectors Boom Boom, Arif Cooper and the Fresh Team.

Songs were played from a diverse group of deejays and both 'Gully' and 'Gaza' camps were aptly represented on the turntables. Judging by the reaction of the patrons, they enjoyed the mix.

"Mi naa lie, it shot! A di first mi a come an mi a tell yuh mi affi come back 'cause is a cool, nice vibe," one patron told THE STAR.

Guinness bucket deals were also a feature of the party.

"Keep coming out every Wed- nesday, as every week we will be keeping it fresh, with different selectors, but still maintaining a strong and enjoyable party vibe," Ib said.

The party came to an end at 4:30 a.m.

The man charged with stabbing entertainer Junior 'Tanto Blacks' Henry, pleaded guilty to unlawful wounding in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

Dwayne Miller, 24, told the court that he stabbed the Magnum Kings and Queen top-10 finisher, after he was attacked.

"Your Honour I am guilty with explanation. A him move to me wid the machete afta him ask fi money and mi sey when mi reach home him wi get it. Him come at mi wid di machete and when mi a wrestle it cut him inna him back," Miller told the court.

Resident Magistrate Marcia Dunbar-Green told the accused that she did not believe his explanation. He was subsequently granted $80,000 bail with surety to return on December 14, for sentencing.

The colourfully dressed entertainer looked on while the Clerk of Courts read the case file outlining the charges against the accused.

Allegations before the court are that on October 1, the complainant, Henry, went to the accused and asked him to move out of the house in Golden Acres, St Catherine.

He turned his back and was attacked by Miller who used a knife to stab him three times.

A report was made to the Spanish Town police and the accused was charged.

Forty-eight Hondurans are now in the custody of the Marine police after they were held just off the coast of the Pedro Banks while allegedly fishing illegally.

According to reports, the group of Hondurans which includes at least three teenagers, between the ages of 13 and 15, were rescued during two days of search and rescue operation which began on Sunday night.

Reports are that personnel from the Jamaica Defence Force saw two suspicious vessels in the waters and went to investigate.

The vessels reportedly fled as coast guards approached, leaving the 48 persons behind.

They were taken into custody and handed over to the Marine police who will process them.

A Westmoreland resident who died tragically recently is now the subject of a police investigation, after it was revealed that he was being buried with a false name.

The Bethel Town police had to halt funeral proceedings in Belvedere district, on October 8, after the fraud was unravelled by a minister of religion.

THE STAR learnt that the pastor stopped the proceedings after realising that he was going to be performing the final rites on the remains of a man who was going in the grave using a false name.

He went to the police and reported the matter and an investigation was launched.

The funeral was for Mike Eulette, a 51-year-old watchman of Belvedere. However, the undertakers had the body of Mike Whyte, the man's new assumed identity.

investigations continued

The body was taken back to a Westmoreland-based funeral home while investigations continued, as efforts were made to secure the right birth certificate of the deceased.

When THE STAR contacted the police a senior personnel said the funeral proceedings had to be stopped until the true identity is sorted out. "Yes, we are very much aware of the incident to which you speak, the pastor came and reported the matter. The man's surname was Eulette. However, he decided he wanted a different name and changed it to Whyte," a police personnel said.

It was revealed that the body had to be returned to the funeral home for storage while new arrangements are made for a proper burial to be conducted.

Reports from the police are that the man was reportedly killed in a vehicular accident.

Humpback whale fluke
Humpback whales typically travel up to 5,000km between breeding grounds

In a record-breaking journey, a female humpback whale has travelled across a quarter of the globe, a distance of at least 10,000km.

The event, reported in the Royal Society journal Biology Letters, is the longest documented movement by a mammal.

Its voyage was also twice the distance that the whales typically migrate each season to new breeding grounds.

Scientists say the extreme behaviour shows how "flexible" these animals are.

Explore and adapt

The female whale was spotted and photographed twice - once at its regular breeding ground in Brazil, then later off the coast of Madagascar.

The shortest distance between these two locations is 9,800km.

Humpback whale fluke
The whales are identified by markings on their tails or flukes

The research team, led by Dr Peter Stevick from the College of the Atlantic in Maine, US, thinks the whale may have travelled this far in two distinct journeys.

"If I had to guess, I'd say this animal did a normal migration to the Antarctic [to feed] and went to Madagascar from there," Dr Stevick told BBC News.

"If I were to draw a track for it, it would be from Brazil to the Southern Ocean and from there into the Indian Ocean."

The scientists were able to identify the animal from photographs that were taken of its tail, or fluke.

Each humpback whale has unique markings on the pale underside of its fluke.

The team is involved in a long-term study, collecting and examining the pictures of the whale flukes in an effort to develop a "big picture" of humpback behaviour and their migration patterns.

Such a long-distance movement between different breeding grounds is very rare.

And the fact that this was a female whale made the event even more unusual, as males are more commonly known to explore in order to find mates.

"Some exploration helps them to remain adaptable," explained Dr Stevick.

"If animals always returned to exactly the same place to breed, if anything happened to change that environment, they might not be able to adapt, so very occasional exploration could be beneficial for them."

The journey would have taken the animal at least several weeks and so far the scientists only have records of these two sightings.

"But we gather these research photographs from all over the globe," said Dr Stevick.

"So we're hopeful we will see this animal again, or see other animals doing related things."

From Yahoo.com & Forbes - The Facebook phenomenon strikes again, this time helping catapult two new 20-somethings into the ranks of America's richest for the first time and bringing down the average age of America's richest ever so slightly to 65.7. Only eight American billionaires are under the age of 40, and three of them co-founded Facebook.
The youngest? It isn't who you think it is. The world's youngest billionaire is now 26-year-old Dustin Moskovitz, who is eight days younger than his former Harvard roommate and Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg. The social-networking site's first chief technology officer, Moskovitz left in 2008 and started Asana, a software company that allows individuals and small companies to better collaborate. The company has attracted several of the same early backers as Facebook and may one day be worth something. For now, though, Forbes estimates Moskovitz's entire $1.4 billion fortune comes from his 6 percent stake in Facebook.

Zuckerberg may no longer reign as the youngest member of the Forbes 400, but he has bragging rights as the year's biggest percentage gainer -- his net worth jumped to $6.9 billion, up from $2 billion, making him worth nearly five times as much as Moskovitz and more than even Apple's (Nasdaq: AAPL - News) Steve Jobs.
The third Facebook co-founder among the ranks is 28-year-old Eduardo Saverin, who once owned a one-third stake in Facebook. When Zuckerberg and Moskovitz quit school to relocate to California, Saverin stayed behind to graduate. A year later Facebook sued him; he countersued. The parties settled with Saverin apparently getting a 5 percent stake and a co-founder bio on Facebook's site. Don't feel bad. We estimate that share makes him worth $1.15 billion.

Technology, and in particular the Internet, has long been the best bet for getting rich at a young age. Bill Gates made his debut on the list in 1986 at age 30 with a net worth of $315 million. Michael Dell debuted at age 26; 19 years later, he is still among the list's 20 youngest. So too for Yahoo's (Nasdaq: YHOO - News) David Filo and Jerry Yang, who first made the ranks a dozen years ago. Indeed half of the 20 youngest America billionaires have made their fortunes in the tech industry, most via the Internet.

Outside the world of the Internet, young rich-list members have been able to cash in from a few other industries such as finance and sports. Hedge fund manager John Arnold, 36, got his start as an oil trader for Enron in 1995. He is said to have earned $750 million for the company in 2001. When Enron collapsed a year later, he went into business for himself, founding Centaurus, a hedge fund focusing mostly on natural gas, energy trading.

Five of the 20 youngest inherited their fortunes, including Scott Duncan, the only billionaire in his 20s who didn't strike it rich with Facebook. He and his siblings assumed control of the family's $12.4 billion pipeline empire after their father Dan Duncan's death last March.

[The Richest People in America]

Worth noting about this bunch is not simply how quickly they've made their money, but how they are choosing to spend it, not so much on luxury homes or expensive toys but on causes about which they are passionate. Google's (Nasdaq: GOOG - News) Larry Page is buying up chunks of residential Palo Alto for a network of houses that use new types of fuel cells, geothermal energy and rainwater capture. He also rides a Zero X electric dirt bike and an electric sports car from Tesla Motors, in which he and Sergey Brin are investors. EBay's (Nasdaq: EBAY - News) Pierre Omidyar has donated to everything from a company that designs solar powered lanters to a political satire show in Kenya. Moskovitz gave $70,000 in support of Proposition 19, which is seeking to legalize marijuana in California in November. John Arnold has agreed to take the Giving Pledge, making the commitment to give the majority of his wealth to charity.

As for Zuckerberg, he still lives in a relatively modest rental home in Palo Alto, Calif. So what's he doing with his wealth? Not much so far, given that most of it is tied up in non-public shares of Facebook. Still, the 26-year-old announced on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" in September that he is giving away $100 million to Newark's schools. The gift is the largest philanthropic act by a person his age in American history.

Kim doesn't have a record to promote, but she still went "butt a**" in the November issue of W magazine.

The "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" star can be seen wearing nothing but silver body paint, in the pics that have leaked onto the internet.

I'm guessing she's feeling more comfortable posing nude this time around. According to Kim, she felt uncomfortable shooting forPlayboy in 2007.

"I'm sorry I did Playboy. I was uncomfortable," she told Harper's Bazaar her mom pushed her into doing it.

"Go for it. They might never ask you again. Our show isn't on the air yet. No one knows who you are. Do it and you'll have these beautiful pictures to look at when you're my age," Kim's mom supposedly told her.

Whatever the reason, we were grateful then and now.

The new issue of W hits stands October 13.

Dancehall prodigy Vybz Kartel reported ink a deal with a gay rights Organization to stop performing anti-gay music.

According to the Afro-Caribbean association for the struggle against all forms of racism, homophobia and aids in France, are that deejay Vybz Kartel has signed the Reggae Compassionate Act which calls for the artiste to halt all anti-homophobic lyrics or statements.

Kartel who recently completed a successful tour of Europe, allegedly signed the deal with the gay rights group to stop them from pressuring promoters to cancel his shows in some sections of Europe.

Representatives from the group said they will be watching the Portmore Empire artist if he will deny signing the deal and continue preaching anti-gay lyrics.

The below image is the evidence the group put forward to show that Vybz Kartel himself signed the deal. In both signatures of Vybz Kartel and Adidja Palmer.

Do you think the evidence is authentic?..                                                                                                 Vybz-Kartel-Signs-Reggae-Compassionate-Act-TheHypeLife.com-2010.jpg

Kartel performed at the Elysée-Montmartre in France in late September and according to the release on www.tjenbered.fr, attempts to stop the concert were being made by Ian Brossat, chair of the group of communist and Left Party elected representatives on Paris city council, counsellor for the 18th district, who had moved for a formal request to be sent to the capitals Prefect of Police asking him to consider the risks to public order which might be provoked by the singers concert in the district.

It is alleged that after Kartel signed the Reggae Compassionate Act, the request was withdrawn in relation to this concert.

In 2007, gay groups in the US and Europe drafted the Reggae Compassionate Act, which called on dancehall acts to be more tolerant to homosexuals.

For years, protests from gay activists have dogged the careers of Jamaican artistes internationally. Deejay Shabba Ranks experienced the backlash after responding to a question about Buju Bantons Boom Bye Bye. Buju himself has been plagued across the globe with banned concerts since doing that song, while others such as Beenie Man, TOK., Capleton, Sizzla and Elephant Man have experienced similar pressure.

Deadspin: Brett Farve Sexting Penis Pics To Jenn Sterger

Another Bret Farve Scandal
Bret Favre is not having a good start to thr 2010-11 NFL season. His Vikings are 1-2, and Favres play can be described as medicore at best.

Now some more disturbing news has come out. The site

Deadspin.com gave us some clues earlier in the year that news involving Bret Favre and model/former Jets employee Jenn Sterger would come to light. Now it has and what it is are voice mails with a man sounding like Favre that were sent to Sterger, and even more incriminating are possible pictures of Favres genetalia that are now setting the internet on fire.

Favre sent the pictures via his cell phone to Sterger. Favre now has these problems to worry about, and they arent football related. The NFL office is looking into these matters.
