Black Ryno Bruised..via Bike

Black Ryno is again in the news..this time its on the pitiful side of things. The artiste who was formerly part of the Gaza Portmore Empire group and who's house was burnt down, alleged to have beaten up Boom Boom and Cory Todd a few weeks go, was said to have been involved in a motor cycle accident over the weekend.
Like Mavado, Gyptian Nitchie Kutchie and even Tiger.. entertainers and Motor Bikes don't mix... they cant ride bikes! or is it a case they ride them when they are drunk.. its not the best way to get some publicity, you could loose your life, therefore it cant be a case of them deliberately jumping off the bikes. We know that such motor vehicles are not complete.. they a short of two or more wheels,..
The incident however with Ryno accident was a little bizarre in that a man of unsound mind walked in the path of a car, the car had to swerve and swerved into Ryno who was the pillion on the bike.
Ryno was thankful to god for spearing himself and all others... he received a gash to the head according to the report and was ordered to stay home ..and stay away from the stCopyudios.

As tributes pour in for the late Gregory Isaacs, the captain of the Big Ship, veteran singer Freddy McGregor, has sent condolences to the family of the late reggae superstar.

In an interview with Irie FMs Ron Muschette this morning, Freddy said he was sad to hear about the passing of Gregory.

I saw Gregory two weeks ago in London and he was in high spirits. He made us laugh and despite him being sick we shared a good time. The Big Ship family regrets his passing, he said.

Gregory Isaacs reportedly passed away this morning in England from cancer which had spread over his entire body.

Gregory is best known for the song Night Nurse and has a rich, extensive catalogue of reggae hits. Reports are that his body will be flown back to Jamaica by the end of this week and a committee has been established by the government and the family to handle funeral arrangements for the reggae legend.

Despite Bail, Buju still behind bars

TheHypeLife.com-x-Buju-Banton.jpg

More than a week after international reggae star, Buju Banton was granted bail in a Florida court in the United States, the artiste remains behind bars.

Buju, whose given name is Mark Myrie, has been in custody since December charged with conspiracy to traffic narcotics.

It has been over a week since the dreadlocked artiste was granted US$250,000 bail, nearly three weeks after a jury failed to reach a unanimous verdict in his trial.

The Judge also ordered, at Buju's expense, that he be placed under house arrest, employ 24-hour security and wear a monitoring device.

Bujus lead attorney David Markus explained in a radio interview that the defence has been ensuring that he is in a position to satisfy the bail conditions.

He will then appear in Immigration Court to see if he will be allowed bond.

As a non citizen of the United States, the Immigration Court will have to decide if he can remain in the US as an undocumented resident since his visa was revoked at the time of his arrest.

If Buju fails to secure bond, he will be deported.

Mr. Markus says the team is hopeful that he will be able to meet all the criteria to secure bail next week.

The four time Grammy nominee was arrested at his Tamarac home in December and slapped with charges of conspiracy to possess and distribute five kilograms of cocaine and possession of a firearm.

A new trial is to take place in December.

Businessman and Peoples National Party activist, Kenneth 'Skeng Don' Black has reportedly been awarded $200 million in a default judgement by the Supreme Court against the Housing Agency of Jamaica (HAJ). However, the matter will be appealed by the agency.

Blacks company, Black Brothers Ltd, took the agency to court in May 2009 to recover money that he said was owed to him for construction work done under the PNP administration.

Black, in a rare interview, said the case came out of a "personal thing" against him

"It's some sort of victimisation," he said.

Black sued the Housing Agency in a bid to recover over $200 million, which he said was owed to him for work done on construction projects.

He undertook several projects for the Government during the administrations of P J Patterson and Portia Simpson Miller, stretching from the 1990s. They have worked with several Provident Societies under the Operation Pride programme, most of which the then NHDC managed and financed.

The main job for which he is owed is the Whitehall housing project near Negril in Westmoreland.

Both parties will return to court in December to present arguments.

Vybz Kartel is No Dancehall Hero..

October 25, 2010

His name is called everyday in the dancehall fraternity in some way shape or form. He cant travel to the lurative markets due to his visa ban from the United Kingdom and North America some years ago. He is not very fond of by a lot of the dancehall members, some rather say nothing about him. He is accused of assaulting members of his group, he has more fued and confrontations with fellow artiste and producers more than any other artiste in the history of dancehall and reggae music. He goes far and beyond with his lyrics and what he does. He is dysfunctional.. and still have a presence in the dancehall that some will envy, a consistency with hit songs and the production of new *la*hd in the business that seem to do well over a short period of time.
Vybz Kartel requires dysfunction to function ..this according to one blogger and I agree. He will be able to produce the hit songs he has consistenly done so far with the crazy and bizarre things happening around him.
In his latest project Dancehall Hero.. he complains about being robbed of his style and watched by players in the business. I suppose its the Oh..and the Ahwoa he so often usees these days that is now being rinsed by Beenie man ZJ Liquid etc. These kind of expressions were taken from the Jamaican colloquial dialect, so is a lot of his and other artiste tracks. No he is not a dancehall hero at the moment--and his current dysfunctional attitude is the reason for that.. and perhaps why he is not on the Arthur Guinness celebration.
anyway check out Vybz Kartel latest --- Dancehall Hero

The Hottest MC's In The Game list, voted on by MTV is completed. Was there ever any doubt as to who would be number one?

Coming in at # 1 is Eminem

Eminem has dominated hip hop this year. His 'Recovery' album shot out the gate, selling 741,000 copies it's first week out, and is almost at 3 million copies sold in the U.S. alone.

At one point the album had an incredible 7 songs on Billboards Hot 100 Singles chart. With "25 To Life" # 92, "Talkin To Myself" # 88, "Cold Wind Blows" # 71, "Won't Back Down" # 62, "No Love" # 23, "Not Afraid" # 11 and "Love The Way You Lie" at # 2.

The Rihanna assisted "Love The Way You Lie" has dominated pop radio, spending four weeks in Billboards top slot.

Eminem also participated in what some have called the greatest hip hop concerts in history when he andJay-Z paired up for the Home and Home shows at Detroit's Comerica Park and New York's Yankee Stadium.

The concerts featured guests 50 Cent, Dr Dre, D12, Trick Trick, Young Jeezy, Drake, Memphis Bleekas well as B.o.B., Kanye West and Beyonce. Proving that rap artists cauld sell out stadiums.

Coming in at # 2 is Jay-Z

Jigga simply shows no signs of slowing down.

The Brooklyn rapper didn't have an album out in 2010, but he rode the success of 2009's 'Blueprint 3', selling out concerts worldwide. He is regularly headlining shows that have traditionally been the sole territory of rock acts.

In November Hov is slated to open for U2 for the Australia and New Zealand legs on their 360 tour.

Add to that the success of the Home and Home concerts with Eminem, and it's easy to see why Jigga got the # 2 slot.

Coming in at # 3 is Kanye West.

West has really enjoyed a stellar 2010. In what has been a big comeback year for the Chicago rapper, following a 2009 that saw a lot of the media and some fans turn their backs on him after the Taylor Swift VMA incident.

While he doesn't have a chart topping song at the moment, Kanye has put out a number of fantastic joints via his G.O.O.D Friday campaign. He's also released two groundbreaking videos with "Power" and the short film "Runaway."

Add to that his great live performances at the BET Awards and Saturday Night Live.

West has proven why he is amongst the elite the game has to offer.

With a new album, 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy' about to drop next month, 2010 will only get better for the Louis Vuitton Don.

Coming in at # 4 is Drake

Young Money has been very well represented on the Hottest MC's list this time around.

Drake is the third emcee from the camp to make the list, following Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj.

His debut album 'Thank Me Later' debuted at # 1 with 447,000 copies sold, and is closing in on platinum status.

Three songs from the disc, "Over", "Miss Me" and "Find Your Love" have achieved top 15 recognition on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.

The sky seems to be the limit for Drake as an artist. He is able to pull off the rare feat of making both R&B and Hip Hop joints, while keeping both audiences satisfied.

Coming in at # 5 is Officer Rick Ross.

Congrats to all the artists who made the list.

Black Ryno... Di Stinger is out of jail where he has been for the last couple of days due to the altercation with Cory Todd  business partner of  Vybz Kartel at a supermarket in Kingston. The DJ was also recently implicated in an incident involving alliance selector Boom Boom.
What Ryno needs to do is to buckle down and work hard to get some tracks on the street that can get some rotation--stop going around and sting people.. it only make matters worst for himself.

Cholera in Haiti: People receive serum at the St Nicholas hospital in Saint Marc, Haiti

Cholera outbreak showed signs of easing Monday after killing more than 250 people in a sweep through rural Haiti, but experts warned that the earthquake-devastated country's first bout with the disease in decades is far from over.

Aid groups were joining the government in a race to purify water and warn people throughout the countryside and the capital, Port-au-Prince, where the Jan. 12 earthquake left more than a million survivors in squalid stick-and-tarp camps that are ripe for the waterborne disease.

"The worst part is over, but you can always have a new spike of cholera," said Health Ministry Director Gabriel Timothee. He said the situation is beginning to stabilize with only six new deaths reported since Sunday.

Cholera in Haiti: Close to 210 dead and 2,679 hospitalized due to Cholera in Haiti

People are given medical care in the streets in Drouin (Grande Saline), in the Artibonite province as hospitals struggle to cope with the number of patients
Haiti, which had not suffered a cholera outbreak in at least 50 years, is the latest developing country to be afflicted by the disease that sickens an estimated 3 million to 5 million people a year and kills 100,000.

It is common in regions such as the Indian subcontinent and sub-Saharan Africa an outbreak in Nigeria this year killed at least 1,500 people, according to the United Nations but it has been rare in industrialized nations for the past 100 years.

The disease, spread through feces-contaminated drinking water or food, leads to vomiting and watery diarrhea which, if not treated, can kill a person within hours. It is preventable with clean water and sanitation, but both can be hard to find in corners of the Western Hemisphere's poorest country.

Some of the 1.3 million people living in the capital's tent camps already fear the worst.

"I'm afraid because the water we're drinking here is not treated properly. Any time I drink the water it makes my stomach sick," said Joseph Sidsen Guerry, 20, who lives in the small Jeremie camp in central Port-au-Prince.

Health groups working to keep the disease from spreading beyond the central valley where it emerged last week are focusing on treating the ill, strengthening medical centers with isolation wards and educating the public about the disease.

"The biggest challenge for us is the amount of misinformation," said Julie Schindall of Oxfam, which trained the host of a radio call-in program to promote good hygiene practices in rural Petit Riviere near the outbreak's epicenter in the Arbitonite region. "We have to make sure they know what is true and what is not true."

Schindall said some Haitians were still drinking from the contaminated Artibonite river because others did so without getting sick.

Cholera in Haiti: US missionary doctor confirms the man lying in the bed died of cholera

People watch a US missionary doctor confirm a man's death from cholera outside a hospital before being transported home in the town of Drouin

Water purification tablets and oral rehydration salts used to counteract potentially lethal dehydration caused by diarrhea have been widely distributed in the region where the river or rainwater remain the only water source for many, said Louise Ivers, an official with the aid group Partners in Health.

For now, officials say their efforts have been making gains.

Timothee said at least 259 people have died since early last week and more than 3,300 have fallen ill, but he emphasized that no cases had been confirmed as originating in the crowded capital. Five patients were diagnosed with cholera in Port-au-Prince over the weekend, but officials said they got sick elsewhere.

Michel Thieren, a program management officer for the Pan-American Health Organization, said the outbreak has been largely confined to the Aribitonite. But he warned: "We are expecting a gradual spreading of cholera in the country, and the way it will do that is still unpredictable."

Aid groups stress that community outreach is a key part of their prevention efforts.

The California-based International Medical Corps has enlisted Haiti's Boy Scouts to distribute fliers educating people about proper hygiene, spokeswoman Margaret Aguirre said. Her group also was dispatching mobile teams of doctors and nurses equipped with IV fluids, "cholera cots" with a hole for human waste, and disinfectant.

Experts said the disease is likely to spread eventually to the Dominican Republic, which is on the same Caribbean island as Haiti.

Cholera in Haiti: Children receive medical treatment at the hospital of Marchand-Desaline

"Now that cholera has established itself with a strong foothold in Haiti, it probably will not go away for several years," said Dr. Jon K. Andrus, PAHO's deputy director.

Cholera is not a major threat in countries such as the United States because of advanced water and sanitation systems. On average, only about seven cases a year are reported in the U.S., and they almost always involve a traveler infected in another country.

Cholera has played a central role in the development of the field of public health: A cholera outbreak in London in 1854 was successfully battled by a London physician, Dr. John Snow, who helped lay to rest the long-held theory that the disease is caused by miasma, or foul-smelling air.

Snow deduced that polluted water coming from a Broad Street pump was the source of illness. He is considered the father of the disease investigation field known as epidemiology.

Heavy flooding in Haiti has killed at least 11 persons after rivers burst their banks in the capital, Port-Au-Prince, following torrential rains.
Several residents were reported missing.

Displaced people living at a tent city for the victims of the January earthquake were strengthening their makeshift homes to cope with the bad weather.

GREGORY ISAACS....

Toot, Lonely Lover or simply Cool Ruler are just some of the nick names of the rude boy of reggae. Born in Fletchers land Kingston Jamaica on the 15th July 1950, Gregory Anthony Isaacs was the first son of Lester Isaacs and Enid Murrary.

Gregory started out as an electrician and cabinet maker. His career in music remained his ambition. He was inspired by singers such as Sam Cooke, Percy Sledge, Delroy Wilson, Alton Ellis and Ken Boothe. Gregory began his recording career in the late sixties with "Another Heartache" for singer/producer Winston Sinclair. Although the record was not successful he was not discouraged and in 1969 he formed a group called The Concords with Penro Bramwell. They recorded a few 45s "Buttoo", "I Need Your Loving" and "Don't Let Me Suffer" for producer Rupie Edwards. Success did not follow so Gregory Isaacs decided to move on his career as a solo artist. He went on to record for Prince Buster entitled "Dancing Floor". Still not content he decided to start his own label, assisted by his friend Errol Dunkley, around 1973 and that was the beginning of the legendary African Museum record label, until this day producing classics. in 1974 Gregory recorded "Love Is Overdue" for Alvin "GG" Ranglin at Duke Reid's Treasure Isle Studio which was a major success. In 1975 he sold over 42,000 copies of the album "In Person". Gregory continued to record for a number of producers as well as maintaining his own African Museum label. He produced Mr. Isaacs in 1976-77 and "Extra Classic" in 1977.

In the following year he signed a deal with Virgin and recorded two albums for their "Frontline" label, "Cool Ruler" in 1978 and "Soon Forward" in 1979. When his contract wih Virgin expired, UK-based label Charisma wasted no time in signing him up. For this record company he produced the classic albums "Lonely Lover" in 1980 and "More Gregory" in 1980. In 1982 Island Records made an undiclosed offer that Gregory Isaacs could not refuse. Gregory opted for a short term contract. He then demonstrated his unique talent and produced the album "Night Nurse", which was a huge international success. In 1984 by mutual agreement he left Island Records and recorded for a friend and producer Tads "Green Back" Dawkins and produced two fine albums, "Easy" around September 1984 and "All I Have Is Love, Love, Love" in May 1986. In those mid-eighties he was beset by personal and legal problems and was even jailed in Kingston's General Penitentiary. After being released from prison he served his fans with a new album entitled "Out Deh". Due to these problems - including financial problems - Gregory was willing to record for anyone and everyone who was prepared to pay him.

In the second half of the eighties he was the most high prolific reggae artist recording for produces like King Jammy, Bobby Digital, Steely & Clevie, Redman, Sly & Robbie, Gussie Clarke, King Tubby, among others. Despite rumours about Gregory Isaacs' rude boy lifestyle and the near destruction of his unique talents with the help of cocaine he is still recording and still creating hit tracks to this day. With a musical career spans over three decades by now and having delivered a trailer load of reggae classics - singles as well as albums - his legendary status and reputation in the reggae business are truly second to none.

Ladies,

If you or yours where 'natural hair' weave / extensions .....read on if you dare!!!!!!!!!!! =-O
Unbelievable!
I am speechless, a must read for all ladies.
My friend Laimi, is a PA working in a Laywer's office in Windhoek .
Two months ago she went to an upmarket hair salon on Independence avenue and spent well over $1500 for a Brazilian weave. She looked good in her new hair style!.

Two weeks later she started suffering severe headaches that would not go away with compral. frequently she'd wake up at night with the constant headache. she went to a private doctor who gave her myprodols that would work for only a few hours and then the headaches will be back worse than before.
desperate she went to see a specialist who did *la*hd tests and even a scan of the brain and all the tests were normal.

Because of the headaches she could not concentrate at work and was sleeping very poorly.
She went back to her doctor who decided to examine her scalp and under the beautiful weave he found worms! the worms were burrowing into her skull and after sending the samples to the lab they found that the hair had eggs from which the worms had hatched!

The doctor told her that the hair was probably from a corpse because the kind of worms are usually found on dead bodies!

The hairdresser who supplied the hair was shocked and told her that they fitted 10 weaves already and that batch of hair had gone very fast!

If you have a weave and getting constant headaches, this is something you may consider checking out. Poor Laimi had to shave her head after this ordeal and take antibiotics for a full 2 weeks!

Ladies we should be careful with what we put on our heads, it is better to appreciate our natural beauty and be content with what God has blessed us with than to chase artificial beauty.

If you know a sister you care about who may benefit from this message please forward ASAP before it's too late!

The collaboration is of high tempo hip hop beat brought down by Busta, Vybz Kartel did his part with lines which includes "she a hope and pray but anno Mavado", we are not sure if this is a complement or a jab at the Gullygod.
Kartel was not invited to the Guiness Celebration, a 'free' kept over the weekend that included the stalwarts, giants of Dancehall Music...This is perhaps saying that Kartel is recognized but not fully endorsed.

You can perhaps call him the five star general for the mere fact that
his potentially fifth child and the other four (4) can become stars if
they are blessed with the talent that he has. There are reports that top
the dancehall artiste David Brooks aka Mavado is expecting his fifth
child. We would also like to send our congratulation to the gullygod,
the ole STULLA
and he certainly has to be a Stulla because this potential fifth baby is
being expected from a fifth babymother..aint that a stulla and long
distance one at that.

Can you imaging if there were no STD's around ..he would have perhaps
surpassed the likes of Elephantman and Ninja man with their estimated
forty children or more combined. They are not much of an example here to
the impressionable minds.. But they should be mindful that even a
steady headed stalwart like Tony Rebel gets himself into 'trouble'  at times with matters in relation.

Reggae star Gregory Isaacs has died at the age of 59 at his London home following a long illness, his manager has confirmed.
Gregory IsaacsIsaacs' hit album Night Nurse was recorded at Tuff Gong studio in Kingston, Jamaica

The Jamaican singer died on Monday morning surrounded by his family.

His 1982 album Night Nurse, recorded at Bob Marley's Tuff Gong studio, reached number 32 in the UK.

A cover version of the album's title track, by Sly and Robbie featuring Simply Red, reached number 13 in the UK in September 1997.

Isaacs, who was diagnosed with lung cancer a year ago, had been travelling around Jamaica before returning home to London this summer to spend time with his wife, Linda, and his family.

"Gregory was well-loved by everyone, his fans and his family, and he worked really hard to make sure he delivered the music they loved and enjoyed," his wife said.

"He will be greatly missed by his family and friends."

A Jamaican woman is in police custody in St Maarten, accused of stabbing her Guyanese lover to death on Monday, the Star newspaper has reported.

Sandra Hall, who is employed by a security firm, Sherriff Security, is being accused of the brutal murder of 45-year-old Radford Seaford, who was also known as 'Skinny'. He was a Dutch citizen and had been living on the island for several years.

The St Maarten police said detectives were called to Christiansted Drive in Dutch Quarter at about 1:20 a.m. When they arrived, they found Skinny lying on the ground bleeding profusely from several stab wounds. Hall, who was in a relationship with the victim, was arrested on the spot.

Police reports said Hall claimed that she was in an abusive relationship with Skinny, who beat her frequently. She further stated that Skinny threatened her with a knife and she responded by taking up a knife and swinging it in his direction, wounding him several times.

However, neighbours of the man claimed that he was a peaceful man who was quite jovial. "Skinny was no trouble to anyone, he lived here for years and we never had problems with him," said his landlord, Angela Paul.

"We did not even know he was killed until the police and the doctor arrived here. As for the woman, I don't know her. The first time I saw her was when the police brought her down to go with her."

Other neighbours who live nearby said they did not hear any sounds of arguing or fighting. "We don't know the woman, it's only about a week now she moved in with him. Skinny was a hard-working and very jovial person," another neighbour said.

Prosecutor Rienk Mud confirmed that there was a stabbing incident and the alleged killer had been arrested.

A taxi driver who bought a fraudulent driver's licence and was issued 60 traffic tickets was on Friday ordered to pay $40,000 after he pleaded guilty to several forgery related charges in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court.

Errol Williams, whose fake licence was discovered when he went to the Traffic Court in July, appeared before Senior Magistrate Judith Pusey.

Williams was fined $10,000 or six months each for false declaration, forgery and uttering forged documents and $5,000 or six months each for two counts of possession of forged documents.

A no order ruling was made on charges of conspiracy to deceive, seven counts of possession of false documents and seven counts of uttering forged documents.

The facts in the case are that Williams went to the Traffic Court and presented documents, along with a driver's licence, in order to collect his vehicle that had been previously seized by the police. But it was found out that the licence was fake and he was arrested.

The investigator had also told the court that Williams presented the licence, which he bought for $15,000, to the police on several occasions.

It was also discovered that he could not read, the police said.

Artiste said to have been hit in the head with pipe

Michael Davey, more popularly known in music circles as Powerman, recently found himself nursing head injuries after he was allegedly beaten by his landlord after the two had an altercation.

Allegations are that on September 2, around 9:30 p.m., the artiste and his landlord were in an altercation over rent monies. It is alleged that the accused, Nicholas Henry, used a piece of iron pipe to inflict wounds on the artiste causing injuries to his forehead.

It is alleged that the accused told the deejay; "Yuh deh a foreign a call man crackhead. Dont mi tell yuh seh when you come Jamaica mi a go crack yuh head."

charged

It is further alleged that after the incident, the artiste drove himself to the Constant Spring Police Station where he made a report and he was then taken to the hospital.

It is reported that the artiste, who was overseas, had just returned to the Kingston 8 premises only to find out that his gas stove and his water were disconnected.

Henry, 47, was charged for unlawful wounding and is to return to the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on December 1, when the matter will be mentioned as there is an outstanding medical report.

Powerman is known for several dancehall hits in the 90s including Serious Things Ago Happen and Gal A Call Wi. He has, however, been somewhat out of the limelight in recent years.

Nothing like a disgusting story to start the morning off,, pretty much the specialty around these parts lol.

Back in 2007, a Vermont man claimed he found an unwrapped condom in his Burger King Meal.

Three years later, a lawyer for the man has announced that the matter has been settled out of court.

The case was supposed to head into jury selection next month, but the Rutland Herald in Vermont reports that on Oct. 6, lawyers for both sides told the court they had reached a settlement and asked for the case to be dismissed.

Details of the settlement are sealed.

In the original suit, the plaintiff said he had ordered a Southwestern Whopper from a Burger King in Fair Haven, VT, and when he returned home to eat his food with his family, he discovered the discarded condom. He says that when he complained to the manager, the matter was laughed off.

At the time, both BK and the company that owns that particular franchise issued denials of any wrongdoing.

One image shows a nude Kanye from the chest up, wearing sunglasses and a gold chain, while the second photo shows the singers genitals provocatively exposed from his boxer briefs.

These pics have been floating around since he hit so many girls up on MySpace, according to the source of the images.

Shocking footage has emerged showing a Paraguayan police officer violently attacking a handcuffed 13-year-old boy.

The policeman is seen punching and kicking the boy in the corner of a squalid police cell.

First the officer punches him in the stomach and head.

Then he puts a bucket on his head to and proceeds to kick him several times around the body.

The boy, who had been picked up on a petty theft charge, appears to be in agony and shock after the assault.

Paraguay's interior minister Rafael Filizzola said the incident was being investigated.

"We want that the investigation is not limited to this person that has been identified here," he said.

"The responsibility of his superiors will also be evaluated."

Authorities are due to take a statement from the officer involved in the leaked police camera footage

Jeremy Wade reeled in the pre-historic looking monster on a fishing expedition to the Congo River.

The goliath tigerfish is one of the most fearsome freshwater fish in the world and are said to be much bigger and deadlier versions of the piranha.

It has only ever been caught by a handful of fishermen due to the danger it poses and the fact its habitat is notoriously hard to reach.

untitled10.bmp

Mr Wade, from Bath, Somerset, took extra care when reeling in this specimen which weighed more than 100lbs and was 5ft long.

Luckily he is an experienced angler and caught the fish for the TV show River Monsters, which is due to be screened on ITV next month.

The show looks into mythical reports from around the world of humans being attacked by unknown monsters from the deep before Mr Wade sets out to find and catch the suspect.

"This fish is no tench," said Mr Wade.

"It is, for all intents and purposes, a giant piranha. It is quite a beast.

"The teeth on it are incredibly sharp and are about the same length as a great white shark.

"It also has an extremely powerful bite and has been known to consume prey the same size as itself, attack people and take pieces out of crocodiles.

"It is thought that these fish attack in a reflex response to a sudden movement or splash.

"It is very rare to catch one, especially by an outsider because they are found in such a remote and difficult location to get to. There are no guides or lodges on that part of the Congo River."

Mr Wade used a sizable catfish as bait for the tigerfish - Hydrocynus goliath in Latin - and a 200lbs rod and line.

Hours after popular soca artiste Blazer Dan was killed, his girlfriend said he was a good man who met his demise because of bad company. Troydon Cruickshank, 31, was shot dead at his home in Enterprise, Chaguanas, yesterday by three masked gunmen dressed in military outfits. At about 10 am, the artiste was reportedly talking to three neighbours in his yard when the gunmen, said to be armed with machine guns, opened fire.

Cruickshank, known for hits Be Mine Tonight and Jumpy, was shot several times and died at the Chaguanas Health Clinic. A neighbour who was also shot was taken to hospital where he remains warded. In a telephone interview, the artistes girlfriend, who asked to be identified as Mrs Cruickshank, said she believed Blazer was killed because of the company he kept. I was in the yard when he get shoot. I just started to scream. He used to lime with a lot of people who did stupidness but he is a good man. He used to help out the boys in the community. His love for his friends have him dead now. He paid for their sins.

The woman, who said she had been in a relationship with the Wrong Timing singer for the past six years, denied claims the artiste, who had several run-ins with the law, was a gang leader. He was real quiet. He never went anywhere. He was a simple man who used to stay home. He only left the house to go to the studio and perform, she said. Im sorry he had to pay for things that his friends did, but justice will be done. We are a spiritual family.

The controversial artiste was charged with the murder of his brother, Dillon Cruickshank who was killed during a domestic dispute in 2006. However, he was freed of all charges ten months later. In January, he was arrested in connection with an attempted robbery in Chagaunas. Cruickshank, who admitted that his vehicle was used in the attempted robbery, was subsequently cleared of any wrongdoing in relation to that offence.

Red Bull surely has wings. Just ask dancehall artiste Future Fambo.

The deejay, who is currently enjoying a resurgence in his career, is having repeated drinks of rum and Red Bull, toasting the success of his single of the same name. The song is soaring its way to the pinnacle of charts locally and overseas, and for Fambo, life is just a dream.

A combination with the Doctor Beenie Man, Rum & Red Bull easily charmed its way into the psyche of the dancehall massive and quickly secured the number one slot in Jamaica. It has now taken on the proverbial wings, as it flies overseas to dominate new markets and make the year 2010 one of the most memorable so far in Future Fambo's 16-year career.

The Seanizzle-produced single made its way to Toronto, Canada, where it had fans blaring it from their car radios, so it was no surprise when it topped the chart there. Currently Rum & Red Bull is excitingEngland, where, by all accounts, it has been an instant hit, muscling its way onto the BBC 1Xtra chart and settling comfortably at its favourite position, the peak.

"I couldn't believe it when I heard that the tune was number one on BBC 1 Xtra Reggae chart. All I could do was give thanks and more thanks," Future Fambo declared in his usual swagaholic style.

Hosted by popular jock, Robbo Ranx, the programme Dancehall with Robbo Ranx is tagged as "the essential guide to everything dancehall". The top five songs currently on the chart there are: Future Fambo and Beenie Man, Rum & Red Bull; Vybz Kartel and Russian, Jeans & Fitted Mavado, When You Feel Lonely; Khago, Nah Sell Out and Mavado, Stulla.
