As tributes pour in for the late Gregory Isaacs, the captain of the Big Ship, veteran singer Freddy McGregor, has sent condolences to the family of the late reggae superstar.
In an interview with Irie FMs Ron Muschette this morning, Freddy said he was sad to hear about the passing of Gregory.
I saw Gregory two weeks ago in London and he was in high spirits. He made us laugh and despite him being sick we shared a good time. The Big Ship family regrets his passing, he said.
Gregory Isaacs reportedly passed away this morning in England from cancer which had spread over his entire body.
Gregory is best known for the song Night Nurse and has a rich, extensive catalogue of reggae hits. Reports are that his body will be flown back to Jamaica by the end of this week and a committee has been established by the government and the family to handle funeral arrangements for the reggae legend.
More than a week after international reggae star, Buju Banton was granted bail in a Florida court in the United States, the artiste remains behind bars.
Buju, whose given name is Mark Myrie, has been in custody since December charged with conspiracy to traffic narcotics.
It has been over a week since the dreadlocked artiste was granted US$250,000 bail, nearly three weeks after a jury failed to reach a unanimous verdict in his trial.
The Judge also ordered, at Buju's expense, that he be placed under house arrest, employ 24-hour security and wear a monitoring device.
Bujus lead attorney David Markus explained in a radio interview that the defence has been ensuring that he is in a position to satisfy the bail conditions.
He will then appear in Immigration Court to see if he will be allowed bond.
As a non citizen of the United States, the Immigration Court will have to decide if he can remain in the US as an undocumented resident since his visa was revoked at the time of his arrest.
If Buju fails to secure bond, he will be deported.
Mr. Markus says the team is hopeful that he will be able to meet all the criteria to secure bail next week.
The four time Grammy nominee was arrested at his Tamarac home in December and slapped with charges of conspiracy to possess and distribute five kilograms of cocaine and possession of a firearm.
A new trial is to take place in December.
Businessman and Peoples National Party activist, Kenneth 'Skeng Don' Black has reportedly been awarded $200 million in a default judgement by the Supreme Court against the Housing Agency of Jamaica (HAJ). However, the matter will be appealed by the agency.
Blacks company, Black Brothers Ltd, took the agency to court in May 2009 to recover money that he said was owed to him for construction work done under the PNP administration.
Black, in a rare interview, said the case came out of a "personal thing" against him
"It's some sort of victimisation," he said.
Black sued the Housing Agency in a bid to recover over $200 million, which he said was owed to him for work done on construction projects.
He undertook several projects for the Government during the administrations of P J Patterson and Portia Simpson Miller, stretching from the 1990s. They have worked with several Provident Societies under the Operation Pride programme, most of which the then NHDC managed and financed.
The main job for which he is owed is the Whitehall housing project near Negril in Westmoreland.
Both parties will return to court in December to present arguments.
The Hottest MC's In The Game list, voted on by MTV is completed. Was there ever any doubt as to who would be number one?
Coming in at # 1 is Eminem
Eminem has dominated hip hop this year. His 'Recovery' album shot out the gate, selling 741,000 copies it's first week out, and is almost at 3 million copies sold in the U.S. alone.
At one point the album had an incredible 7 songs on Billboards Hot 100 Singles chart. With "25 To Life" # 92, "Talkin To Myself" # 88, "Cold Wind Blows" # 71, "Won't Back Down" # 62, "No Love" # 23, "Not Afraid" # 11 and "Love The Way You Lie" at # 2.
The Rihanna assisted "Love The Way You Lie" has dominated pop radio, spending four weeks in Billboards top slot.
Eminem also participated in what some have called the greatest hip hop concerts in history when he andJay-Z paired up for the Home and Home shows at Detroit's Comerica Park and New York's Yankee Stadium.
The concerts featured guests 50 Cent, Dr Dre, D12, Trick Trick, Young Jeezy, Drake, Memphis Bleekas well as B.o.B., Kanye West and Beyonce. Proving that rap artists cauld sell out stadiums.
Coming in at # 2 is Jay-Z
Jigga simply shows no signs of slowing down.
The Brooklyn rapper didn't have an album out in 2010, but he rode the success of 2009's 'Blueprint 3', selling out concerts worldwide. He is regularly headlining shows that have traditionally been the sole territory of rock acts.
In November Hov is slated to open for U2 for the Australia and New Zealand legs on their 360 tour.
Add to that the success of the Home and Home concerts with Eminem, and it's easy to see why Jigga got the # 2 slot.
Coming in at # 3 is Kanye West.
West has really enjoyed a stellar 2010. In what has been a big comeback year for the Chicago rapper, following a 2009 that saw a lot of the media and some fans turn their backs on him after the Taylor Swift VMA incident.
While he doesn't have a chart topping song at the moment, Kanye has put out a number of fantastic joints via his G.O.O.D Friday campaign. He's also released two groundbreaking videos with "Power" and the short film "Runaway."
Add to that his great live performances at the BET Awards and Saturday Night Live.
West has proven why he is amongst the elite the game has to offer.
With a new album, 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy' about to drop next month, 2010 will only get better for the Louis Vuitton Don.
Coming in at # 4 is Drake
Young Money has been very well represented on the Hottest MC's list this time around.
Drake is the third emcee from the camp to make the list, following Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj.
His debut album 'Thank Me Later' debuted at # 1 with 447,000 copies sold, and is closing in on platinum status.
Three songs from the disc, "Over", "Miss Me" and "Find Your Love" have achieved top 15 recognition on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.
The sky seems to be the limit for Drake as an artist. He is able to pull off the rare feat of making both R&B and Hip Hop joints, while keeping both audiences satisfied.
Coming in at # 5 is Officer Rick Ross.
Congrats to all the artists who made the list.

Cholera outbreak showed signs of easing Monday after killing more than 250 people in a sweep through rural Haiti, but experts warned that the earthquake-devastated country's first bout with the disease in decades is far from over.
Aid groups were joining the government in a race to purify water and warn people throughout the countryside and the capital, Port-au-Prince, where the Jan. 12 earthquake left more than a million survivors in squalid stick-and-tarp camps that are ripe for the waterborne disease.
"The worst part is over, but you can always have a new spike of cholera," said Health Ministry Director Gabriel Timothee. He said the situation is beginning to stabilize with only six new deaths reported since Sunday.
It is common in regions such as the Indian subcontinent and sub-Saharan Africa an outbreak in Nigeria this year killed at least 1,500 people, according to the United Nations but it has been rare in industrialized nations for the past 100 years.
The disease, spread through feces-contaminated drinking water or food, leads to vomiting and watery diarrhea which, if not treated, can kill a person within hours. It is preventable with clean water and sanitation, but both can be hard to find in corners of the Western Hemisphere's poorest country.
Some of the 1.3 million people living in the capital's tent camps already fear the worst.
"I'm afraid because the water we're drinking here is not treated properly. Any time I drink the water it makes my stomach sick," said Joseph Sidsen Guerry, 20, who lives in the small Jeremie camp in central Port-au-Prince.
Health groups working to keep the disease from spreading beyond the central valley where it emerged last week are focusing on treating the ill, strengthening medical centers with isolation wards and educating the public about the disease.
"The biggest challenge for us is the amount of misinformation," said Julie Schindall of Oxfam, which trained the host of a radio call-in program to promote good hygiene practices in rural Petit Riviere near the outbreak's epicenter in the Arbitonite region. "We have to make sure they know what is true and what is not true."
Schindall said some Haitians were still drinking from the contaminated Artibonite river because others did so without getting sick.
Water purification tablets and oral rehydration salts used to counteract potentially lethal dehydration caused by diarrhea have been widely distributed in the region where the river or rainwater remain the only water source for many, said Louise Ivers, an official with the aid group Partners in Health.
For now, officials say their efforts have been making gains.
Timothee said at least 259 people have died since early last week and more than 3,300 have fallen ill, but he emphasized that no cases had been confirmed as originating in the crowded capital. Five patients were diagnosed with cholera in Port-au-Prince over the weekend, but officials said they got sick elsewhere.
Michel Thieren, a program management officer for the Pan-American Health Organization, said the outbreak has been largely confined to the Aribitonite. But he warned: "We are expecting a gradual spreading of cholera in the country, and the way it will do that is still unpredictable."
Aid groups stress that community outreach is a key part of their prevention efforts.
The California-based International Medical Corps has enlisted Haiti's Boy Scouts to distribute fliers educating people about proper hygiene, spokeswoman Margaret Aguirre said. Her group also was dispatching mobile teams of doctors and nurses equipped with IV fluids, "cholera cots" with a hole for human waste, and disinfectant.
Experts said the disease is likely to spread eventually to the Dominican Republic, which is on the same Caribbean island as Haiti.
"Now that cholera has established itself with a strong foothold in Haiti, it probably will not go away for several years," said Dr. Jon K. Andrus, PAHO's deputy director.
Cholera is not a major threat in countries such as the United States because of advanced water and sanitation systems. On average, only about seven cases a year are reported in the U.S., and they almost always involve a traveler infected in another country.
Cholera has played a central role in the development of the field of public health: A cholera outbreak in London in 1854 was successfully battled by a London physician, Dr. John Snow, who helped lay to rest the long-held theory that the disease is caused by miasma, or foul-smelling air.
Snow deduced that polluted water coming from a Broad Street pump was the source of illness. He is considered the father of the disease investigation field known as epidemiology.
Heavy flooding in Haiti has killed at least 11 persons after rivers burst their banks in the capital, Port-Au-Prince, following torrential rains.Several residents were reported missing.
Displaced people living at a tent city for the victims of the January earthquake were strengthening their makeshift homes to cope with the bad weather.
Unbelievable!I am speechless, a must read for all ladies. My friend Laimi, is a PA working in a Laywer's office in Windhoek .
Two months ago she went to an upmarket hair salon on Independence avenue and spent well over $1500 for a Brazilian weave. She looked good in her new hair style!.
Two weeks later she started suffering severe headaches that would not go away with compral. frequently she'd wake up at night with the constant headache. she went to a private doctor who gave her myprodols that would work for only a few hours and then the headaches will be back worse than before.
desperate she went to see a specialist who did *la*hd tests and even a scan of the brain and all the tests were normal.
Because of the headaches she could not concentrate at work and was sleeping very poorly.
She went back to her doctor who decided to examine her scalp and under the beautiful weave he found worms! the worms were burrowing into her skull and after sending the samples to the lab they found that the hair had eggs from which the worms had hatched!
The doctor told her that the hair was probably from a corpse because the kind of worms are usually found on dead bodies!
The hairdresser who supplied the hair was shocked and told her that they fitted 10 weaves already and that batch of hair had gone very fast!
If you have a weave and getting constant headaches, this is something you may consider checking out. Poor Laimi had to shave her head after this ordeal and take antibiotics for a full 2 weeks!
Ladies we should be careful with what we put on our heads, it is better to appreciate our natural beauty and be content with what God has blessed us with than to chase artificial beauty.
If you know a sister you care about who may benefit from this message please forward ASAP before it's too late!

The Jamaican singer died on Monday morning surrounded by his family.
His 1982 album Night Nurse, recorded at Bob Marley's Tuff Gong studio, reached number 32 in the UK.
A cover version of the album's title track, by Sly and Robbie featuring Simply Red, reached number 13 in the UK in September 1997.
Isaacs, who was diagnosed with lung cancer a year ago, had been travelling around Jamaica before returning home to London this summer to spend time with his wife, Linda, and his family.
"Gregory was well-loved by everyone, his fans and his family, and he worked really hard to make sure he delivered the music they loved and enjoyed," his wife said.
"He will be greatly missed by his family and friends."
A Jamaican woman is in police custody in St Maarten, accused of stabbing her Guyanese lover to death on Monday, the Star newspaper has reported.
Sandra Hall, who is employed by a security firm, Sherriff Security, is being accused of the brutal murder of 45-year-old Radford Seaford, who was also known as 'Skinny'. He was a Dutch citizen and had been living on the island for several years.
The St Maarten police said detectives were called to Christiansted Drive in Dutch Quarter at about 1:20 a.m. When they arrived, they found Skinny lying on the ground bleeding profusely from several stab wounds. Hall, who was in a relationship with the victim, was arrested on the spot.
Police reports said Hall claimed that she was in an abusive relationship with Skinny, who beat her frequently. She further stated that Skinny threatened her with a knife and she responded by taking up a knife and swinging it in his direction, wounding him several times.
However, neighbours of the man claimed that he was a peaceful man who was quite jovial. "Skinny was no trouble to anyone, he lived here for years and we never had problems with him," said his landlord, Angela Paul.
"We did not even know he was killed until the police and the doctor arrived here. As for the woman, I don't know her. The first time I saw her was when the police brought her down to go with her."
Other neighbours who live nearby said they did not hear any sounds of arguing or fighting. "We don't know the woman, it's only about a week now she moved in with him. Skinny was a hard-working and very jovial person," another neighbour said.
Prosecutor Rienk Mud confirmed that there was a stabbing incident and the alleged killer had been arrested.
A taxi driver who bought a fraudulent driver's licence and was issued 60 traffic tickets was on Friday ordered to pay $40,000 after he pleaded guilty to several forgery related charges in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court.
Errol Williams, whose fake licence was discovered when he went to the Traffic Court in July, appeared before Senior Magistrate Judith Pusey.
Williams was fined $10,000 or six months each for false declaration, forgery and uttering forged documents and $5,000 or six months each for two counts of possession of forged documents.
A no order ruling was made on charges of conspiracy to deceive, seven counts of possession of false documents and seven counts of uttering forged documents.
The facts in the case are that Williams went to the Traffic Court and presented documents, along with a driver's licence, in order to collect his vehicle that had been previously seized by the police. But it was found out that the licence was fake and he was arrested.
The investigator had also told the court that Williams presented the licence, which he bought for $15,000, to the police on several occasions.
It was also discovered that he could not read, the police said.

Back in 2007, a Vermont man claimed he found an unwrapped condom in his Burger King Meal.
Three years later, a lawyer for the man has announced that the matter has been settled out of court.
The case was supposed to head into jury selection next month, but the Rutland Herald in Vermont reports that on Oct. 6, lawyers for both sides told the court they had reached a settlement and asked for the case to be dismissed.
Details of the settlement are sealed.
In the original suit, the plaintiff said he had ordered a Southwestern Whopper from a Burger King in Fair Haven, VT, and when he returned home to eat his food with his family, he discovered the discarded condom. He says that when he complained to the manager, the matter was laughed off.
At the time, both BK and the company that owns that particular franchise issued denials of any wrongdoing.

One image shows a nude Kanye from the chest up, wearing sunglasses and a gold chain, while the second photo shows the singers genitals provocatively exposed from his boxer briefs.

"We want that the investigation is not limited to this person that has been identified here," he said.
"The responsibility of his superiors will also be evaluated."
Authorities are due to take a statement from the officer involved in the leaked police camera footage

Jeremy Wade reeled in the pre-historic looking monster on a fishing expedition to the Congo River.
The goliath tigerfish is one of the most fearsome freshwater fish in the world and are said to be much bigger and deadlier versions of the piranha.
It has only ever been caught by a handful of fishermen due to the danger it poses and the fact its habitat is notoriously hard to reach.
Mr Wade, from Bath, Somerset, took extra care when reeling in this specimen which weighed more than 100lbs and was 5ft long.
Luckily he is an experienced angler and caught the fish for the TV show River Monsters, which is due to be screened on ITV next month.
The show looks into mythical reports from around the world of humans being attacked by unknown monsters from the deep before Mr Wade sets out to find and catch the suspect.
"This fish is no tench," said Mr Wade.
"It is, for all intents and purposes, a giant piranha. It is quite a beast.
"The teeth on it are incredibly sharp and are about the same length as a great white shark.
"It also has an extremely powerful bite and has been known to consume prey the same size as itself, attack people and take pieces out of crocodiles.
"It is thought that these fish attack in a reflex response to a sudden movement or splash.
"It is very rare to catch one, especially by an outsider because they are found in such a remote and difficult location to get to. There are no guides or lodges on that part of the Congo River."
Mr Wade used a sizable catfish as bait for the tigerfish - Hydrocynus goliath in Latin - and a 200lbs rod and line.
Hours after popular soca artiste Blazer Dan was killed, his girlfriend said he was a good man who met his demise because of bad company. Troydon Cruickshank, 31, was shot dead at his home in Enterprise, Chaguanas, yesterday by three masked gunmen dressed in military outfits. At about 10 am, the artiste was reportedly talking to three neighbours in his yard when the gunmen, said to be armed with machine guns, opened fire.
Cruickshank, known for hits Be Mine Tonight and Jumpy, was shot several times and died at the Chaguanas Health Clinic. A neighbour who was also shot was taken to hospital where he remains warded. In a telephone interview, the artistes girlfriend, who asked to be identified as Mrs Cruickshank, said she believed Blazer was killed because of the company he kept. I was in the yard when he get shoot. I just started to scream. He used to lime with a lot of people who did stupidness but he is a good man. He used to help out the boys in the community. His love for his friends have him dead now. He paid for their sins.
The woman, who said she had been in a relationship with the Wrong Timing singer for the past six years, denied claims the artiste, who had several run-ins with the law, was a gang leader. He was real quiet. He never went anywhere. He was a simple man who used to stay home. He only left the house to go to the studio and perform, she said. Im sorry he had to pay for things that his friends did, but justice will be done. We are a spiritual family.
The controversial artiste was charged with the murder of his brother, Dillon Cruickshank who was killed during a domestic dispute in 2006. However, he was freed of all charges ten months later. In January, he was arrested in connection with an attempted robbery in Chagaunas. Cruickshank, who admitted that his vehicle was used in the attempted robbery, was subsequently cleared of any wrongdoing in relation to that offence.

David John Howard Thompson, MP (born 25 December 1961) has been the sixth Prime Minister of Barbados since January 2008.
Thompson was born in London to his father, Charles Thompson, a porter and painter and his mother, Margaret Knight, a secretary and nurse. Both parents remain strong influences in Thompson's life. Thompson was brought up with his six siblings at Fitts Village, Saint James.
He came to politics in a by-election after the death of National Hero Prime Minister Errol Barrow, gaining his parliamentary seat for Saint John in 1987. Whilst Erskine Sandiford was in office as Prime Minister, Thompson served as Minister of Community Development and Culture from 1991 to 1993. He was subsequently appointed Minister of Finance from 1993 to 1994. Thompson became leader of the DLP after Sandiford resigned after losing a parliamentary no confidence motion and unsuccessfully led the Democratic Labour Party in elections in 1994 and 1999. He resigned as party leader in September 2000 following his third electoral defeat as party leader in the St. Thomas by-election. However, when party leader Clyde Mascoll switched allegiance to the Barbados Labour Party, Thompson once again became opposition leader in January 2006.
The DLP won the general election held on January 15, 2008 with 20 seats against 10 for theBarbados Labour Party, which was led by former Prime Minister Owen Arthur. Thompson was sworn in as Prime Minister on January 16,
becoming Barbados' sixth prime minister and the third to serve under the DLP.citation neededThompson was also re-elected to his own seat from St. John constituency with 84% of the vote. He announced his Cabinet on January 19, including himself as Minister of Finance, Economic Affairs and Development, Labour, Civil Service and Energy; it was sworn in on January 20.
At a media briefing at his official Ilaro Court residence on May 14th, 2010, Prime Minister David Thompson, accompanied by his personal physician Dr Richard Ishmael, said that he had been suffering with stomach pains since early March. He also revealed he had undergone tests in Barbados, which were inconclusive, and had also travelled with Ishmael to New York where additional tests were carried out. The process of testing would be ongoing and, because of this, Attorney General and Deputy Prime Minister Freundel Stuart would assume his office in his absence.
On August 30th, Mr. Thompson re-assumed his post of Prime Minister, having returned to Barbados the day before. On Tuesday September 7th, 2010 Mr. Thompson left Barbados for New York on a trip of unknown nature. A short time later Mr. Thompson's personal physician, Dr. Richard Ishmael, informed the general public that the Prime Minister is suffering frompancreatic cancer.
Mr. Thompson died at around 2:10 on the morning of October 23rd 2010 at his home in Mapps, St. Philip, Barbados.
