Judge Sings Chris Brown’s Praises

November 29, 2010

At a hearing Thursday, an L.A. judge praised singer Chris Brown for his progress in completing the terms of his probation for the 2009 assault on ex-girlfriend Rihanna. "Out of thousands of probationers, no one has done a better or more consistent job than you have," the judge told Brown. The singer has had perfect attendance at his domestic violence counseling and has completed about 72 of 180 days of community service.

Thousands of persons took to the streets here on Sunday night, burning down voting bureaus and supporting calls from 12 presidential elections that the presidential and legislative council polls be declared null and void.

The protestors took to the streets to rally against what they believed was widespread fraud including pre-stuffed ballots and their names missing from the voters list.

The 12 presidential candidates on Sunday called for the elections to be declared null and void following allegations of ballot tampering.

The disgruntled candidates met behind closed doors following allegations of fraud.

Presidential front runner Mirlande Manigat joined her colleagues in asking the Provisional Electoral Council to scrap the poll due to widespread irregularities.

The formal announcement came from Josette Bijoux during a press conference shortly after 2:00pm local time.

The candidates were met with rousing applause and shouts of "arreta Preval" or "arrest Preval."
Bijoux was flanked by 11 of her opponents.

The candidates have charged that the alleged ballot tampering was orchestrated to favour Jude Celistin of the ruling Inite party.

Fearing that they may be disenfranchised, annoyed voters voiced their protest at a polling station in Petionville on Sunday.

The mob of voters was held off at the entrance to the polling station as they shouted we want to vote, let us vote.

Voters became increasingly anxious as several polling stations failed to open at 6:00am as scheduled. Some remained closed for more than two hours. The law does not allow for an extension of the voting time.

In the southern city of Jacmel there were violent clashes after voters attempted to leave the polling station with their ballots.

In the early hours Sunday, the Caribbean Media Corporation (CMC) visited three polling centres in the Petionville area of Port-au-Prince but none was open to voters at that time. Instead, election staff were seen counting ballots and verifying the voters list. In one instance, a clerk was still awaiting the arrival of the register of voters.

But even with the prospect of a long wait, many Haitians stayed in line.

Im just coming just for my country. Im voting for my country, one voter said.

Gaillot Dorsinvil, president of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) was touring some of the polling centres experiencing difficulties when he was questioned on why some voters could not find their names on the register.

The election officials shot down any suggestions of error on CEPs part and instead said that voters needed to review the list more carefully.

Meanwhile, outgoing President, Rene Preval expressed confidence in the CEP. After emerging from a polling station at Lycee Marie Jeanne, he told reporters that it was not unusual to have difficulties on Election Day.

We have good elections. We usually have election problems in other countries. There were two candidates in the United States, President Preval told reporters.

I believe that the process is going to be good, he said. I just came to vote and Im sure that were going to have another round and I will come back to vote.

Kelly Rowland is the latest celebrity to be hit with a tax lien by the IRS! The Detroit News is reporting the IRS filed a $98,634 lien against the ex-Destinys Child singer on Nov. 8 with the New York City Register.

Rowland, 29, rose to fame in the girl group, which broke through with the 1999 hit tune Bills, Bills, Bills. After the group broke up, she released a few solo albums and maintains an acting career that included portraying Motown legend (and ex-Detroit Councilwoman/tax delinquent) Martha Reeves in a 2003 episode of the TV show American Dreams.

FLORIDA, United States--A Boxing Day concert in Miami will have to go on without drug-accused reggae singer Buju Banton, even though he's been out on bail for the last two weeks.

That's because a judge has turned down the Jamaican's request to perform at the December 26th show.

His attorneys has argued that the reggae artiste is under financial strain, having to pay US$20,000 a month to a 24-hour security detail that was a part of his bail conditions, as well as the cost of preparing for his retrial next February.

However, US Magistrate Judge Anthony Porcelli said the singer's financial pressures do not outweigh the risk that he might flee, and refused the request.

Buju, whose real name is Mark Myrie, was released on bail on November 10th, almost a year after being arrested on charges of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine and aiding and abetting two others in possessing a firearm during the course of distribution.

The 37-year-old faces life imprisonment and a fine of up to US$4 million if found guilty convicted.

His first trial, which lasted a week, ended with a hung jury in September.

The three men, including a policeman, who were arrested on Monday following the kidnapping attempt of a 17-year-old boy in St Elizabeth, have not yet been charged.

When THE WEEKEND STAR made checks with the St Elizabeth police yesterday, sources said the men are to face identification parades and are to be quizzed in the presence on their attorneys by the end of the week.

This, in connection to police reports that about 7:30 a.m. on Monday, five armed men went to a house in Kempsham in the parish, and demanded money from the occupants there. They reportedly took a 17-year-old boy from the house and put him in an awaiting car when their demands were not met.

The police were alerted and while searching the area, a white Toyota Corolla motor car with five men aboard was reportedly intercepted.

It was allegedly being driven by the policeman who was subsequently taken into custody along with two of his accomplices. The teenager was also rescued.

The other two men are said to have escaped the police.

A man who stole three green breadfruit from a tree was sentenced to three months in prison in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

The accused, Rohan Brown, pleaded guilty to praedial larceny.

The court heard that on November 18 of this year, Brown jumped the fence of the complainant's yard before climbing the breadfruit tree and picking three breadfruit.

The complainant told the court that she was at work at the time of the incident when she received a telephone call from her helper who informed her that an intruder was in her yard.

The complainant then instructed her helper to alert KingAlarm security company, which responded to the call and found the intruder at the back of the yard.

The police were then contacted and the accused taken into custody at the Matilda's Corner Police Station.

When the complainant left work, she went to the police station to make a formal report when she saw and recognised Brown.

The complainant then explained that the accused was the same man who had frequently been visiting her premises and climbing her fruit trees and her roof.

At the same time, the complainant explained that she had caught Brown in her breadfruit tree three times before and spoke to him about it, but he still continued to come into her yard and climb her trees without permission.

Tony Parker has been a naughty naughty boy! Not only was he getting down and dirty with his ex teammates wife, Eric Barry, he was reportedly sending half naked sexts to British model Sophia Egeler.

Eva Longoria is definitely going to be pissed about this one. Not only was Tony sending Sophia flirty sexts, he sent her half naked photos of himself begging her to meet up with him. He pulled a Brett Favre before Brett Favre pulled a Brett Favre.

Sophia told The UK Sun newspaper: "From the minute he met me he was trying it on. I had no idea he was Eva Longoria's husband. He would not take no for an answer and was telling me how much he liked me."

So how did these two meet? Tony met Sophia at an Ultimate Fighting show in London and afterwards persuaded her to join him at London nightspot Whisky Mist with Arsenal soccer player Bacary Sagna.
She added: "I decided at 1am I wanted to leave but Tony followed me into the street. He begged me to come back to a house he claimed was his. I said no."

Apparently Tony doesn't take no for an answer, he got her phone number from a friend and started sending her the naked photos and telling her he was coming to Brighton to see her.

Apparently the sexts stopped last week when news of the divorce broke. Sophia is probably just one of a dozen other girls that will most likely come forward in the next few weeks.

What was Eva thinking marrying a 25 year old athlete? Of course he's going to cheat! He's 25 and he's an athlete!

Seems as if Sunday Herald has touched Vaz's corn once again. The information Minister is breathing legal actions down at the cash strapped newspaper.

All this is stemming from a story that was carried in the Herald on Sunday which reported that he had negotiated a generous agreement with the tax department over an outstanding $74-million GCT bill owed by Ultimate Exotics Limited, a company of which he is a principal shareholder.
The article also said that Vaz's car dealership company owed over $400 million in taxes up to November 2010.

Vaz has dismissed the claims as erroneous and spurious, and said that the Sunday Herald has endeavoured over the last few weeks to sully his reputation and scupper his chances of being victorious at the upcoming internal elections of the ruling Jamaica Labour Party (JLP).
"The tax department cannot and does not divulge people's tax records, and so to make this despicable claim which has no foundation requires me to take legal action," Vaz said yesterday.

Vaz, who appears to be a strong favourite to win next Sunday's election for the post of JLP general secretary, gave what he said was an example of the Sunday Herald's unremitting efforts to besmirch his name and reputation. He pointed to a recent article about his ex-business partner which, he said, tried to marry him to the incident reported although it had nothing whatsoever to do with him.

"Nowhere in the article in question is it mentioned that my ex-partner is married to Deputy Prime Minister Ken Baugh's daughter, yet it chooses to focus on me," he said.

"This tabloid heaps abuses on me week in, week out, and it has got to stop', he said. "It is beginning to look like if I don't feature in some headline, the Sunday Herald cannot sell, which says a lot about that media house.

"I have been through a lot in my 47 years and I am a fighter. As old-time Jamaican folk say: "People don't throw stone at fluxy mango."

Vybz Kartel and the Portmore Empire flattened Cling Cling Oval over the weekend with a high-powered performance in the Olympic Gardens community. The performers included Shawn Storm, Popcaan and the Gaza dads himself, Vybz Kartel.
The deejay is booked for several shows this Christmas season, including shows in The Bahamas, St. Maarten and Antigua. He may also perform on a Christmas Day show in Guyana.

The eleventh staging of Jagra GT Taylor Christmas Reggae Extravaganza will feature a line-up of established artistes including Italian reggae star Brusco. Brusco, born Giovanni Miraldi originates from Rome in Italy and is one of the hottest reggae/dancehall artistes in Europe.

Brusco is also a disc jockey having worked with Italian sound system Gramigna owned by his friend and music producer, Marco Marco. In June, the artiste released for Macro Beats Records his first international CD Take Off Vol 1. The volume includes songs such as Just Another Day, Smoke a lot, Nuh Care featuring I-Octane, Land pon Me, and She wants me featuring Konshens.

Brusco, has been active in the music industry since 1992. He incorporates a unique blend of reggae and hip hop influences into his music and has released several singles and albums including the Italian underground hits Amore Vero and l herba de la Giovenezza.

GT Taylor, organiser of the event is pleased with his addition to the line-up. He said, "A lot of tourists visit St Elizabeth at this time of year and it is important that the show has an international flavour. Brusco is bringing a unique combination of reggae and Italian sounds, something I believe both locals and visitors will absolutely enjoy" he said.

Local stars for the night include Beenie Man, Bounty Killer, Cham, Romain Virgo, Mavado, Gyptian, I-Octane, Chuck Fender, Anthony Cruz, Charley Blacks, Chago, George Nooks and D'angel.

Late reggae crooner Dennis Brown was earlier this month featured in the New York Times as part of promotions to release a box set entitled Dennis Brown: The Crown Prince of Reggae: Singles 1972-1985. The story appeared in the music section of the New York Times on November 16.

The story which was written by Ben Ratliff describes Brown "as one of the greatest singers of the last half century". The article adds: "his voice improvisationally resourceful, graceful, resonant, optimistic: maybe Jamaica's Sam Cooke. His reggae records - made with the best Jamaican producers and rhythm sections, full of Rasta rhetoric while covering the American soul and pop he had his ear to maintained a high level through the '70s and '80s."

The article adds that there was a similar box set out which was released with a very similar title released by Trojan Records with many of Brown's popular songs. However, Ratliff noted that this latest box set went deeper in the late crooner's catalogue and featured songs produced by Phil Pratt, Joe Gibbs and Niney the Observer.

Songs appearing on the box set include What About the Half, So Long Rastafari Calling; a cover of Black Magic Woman; and Rocking Time. The box set also features a DVD which contains a charismatic show from the Montreux Jazz Festival in 1979, which Ratliff said "Brown beams through some of the hits not included elsewhere in the set, like Wolves and Leopards and Money in My Pocket.

pagans_riddim_medley_video.jpg

Cash Flow Records who's responsible for several of the latest dancehall anthems has release another international banger titled the Pagans Riddim which introduces five of Jamaica's freshest and baddest set of artistes to watch for the rest of 2010 and beyond.

The Pagans Riddim which was recently released is already in high rotation and several overseas radio stations, especially in the US (Miami) and the UK. The Pagans Riddim highlights fast rising stars such as T'Nez with "Cant Stop Mi", Tiana with "Dont Trust Dem", Versatile with "More Money", Chan Dizzy with "Same Thing" and Caldhino with "Try Survive".

With the overwhelming requests by several youtubers demanding that the artistes should shoot videos immediately for their songs or unite and shoot a medley had their prayers answered over the weekend. However unity is strength so all the artistes held a meeting to discuss the future of the Pagans Riddim and within a few days they were all geared up to shoot a medley video.

Directing skills were displayed by the CEO of Outaroad.com Carlington Wilmot and Cashflow's beat-maker DJ X who also displays his inborn skills on camera.

The Pagans Riddim medley video is set to be premiered on CVM's Hitlist Video Countdown Chart within a week.

ACTOR LESLIE NIELSEN DIED AT 84 TODAY

leslie-nielsen.jpg

Leslie Nielsen has died.

Surely, you can't be serious. Yes, the comedy great and "Airplane!" star passed away on Sunday in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, at the age of 84 after being treated for pneumonia. And don't call me Shirley.

It was lines like the above, delivered in Nielsen's patented deadpan that gave the dramatic stage and screen actor an unlikely comedic revival later in life.

After beginning his career in the 1950s as a matinee idol, taking on the roles of dashing heroes in films such as the sci-fi classic "Forbidden Planet" and the stalwart captain in 1972's "The Poseidon Adventure," the Canadian-born actor switched gears in 1980 and took a chance with a slapstick disaster-movie spoof that would forever change his life.

Nielsen was at first reluctant to take on the role of the clueless Dr. Alan Rumack, but the white-haired, hilariously dopey MD became the comedic find of a lifetime, as the actor managed to steal the show in a movie packed with dozens of classic one-liners thanks to his impeccable timing and serious delivery.

It was an unlikely, but ultimately lucrative left turn in a long career that spanned more than 100 movies and 1,500 television appearances.

Born Leslie William Nielsen in Regina, Saskatchewan, on February 11, 1926, Nielsen signed up with the Royal Canadian Air Force before turning 18 and trained as an aerial gunner during World War II, but never saw action. He tried his hand at radio and studied acting, landing his television debut in 1950 as part of the "Actor's Studio" TV series. He spent the next several years bouncing around different TV shows, including "Lights Out" and "Tales of Tomorrow" and working in a Broadway play before landing his film debut in 1956 in "Ransom!"

Even as his movie career blossomed, Nielsen kept returning to TV to play earnest heroes in shows like "Rawhide" and "Alfred Hitch**** Presents." He continued bouncing back and forth between the big and small screens throughout the 1960s and '70s, appearing in hit shows like "M*A*S*H" and "Barnaby Jones" while taking small roles in little-seen films such as "Project: Kill" and "Day of the Animals."

By the late 1970s, he was on the "Fantasy Island" and "The Love Boat" celebrity-cameo circuit when producers/directors/writers Jim Abrahams, David Zucker and Jerry Zucker came knocking with "Airplane!" The slapstick film was not only a box-office success, but it recast Nielsen in a whole new light that the actor clearly relished. Following "Airplane!" he again stuck with the Zuckers for their six-episode 1982 "Police Squad!" TV series, in which he again spoofed a popular genre he had once played it straight in, police procedurals, giving the world the bumbling detective Frank Drebin.

He spent the rest of the 1980s mostly doing comedic cameos in films and spot appearances on series such as "227" and "Highway to Heaven." Mining the "Police Squad!" vein once more, he hit paydirt again in 1988 with the movie spoof "The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad!," in which he revived the Drebin character. A series of sequels followed in 1991 and 1994, but Nielsen would never again capture the comedic imagination as he did at his second career peak.

By the 2000s he was mostly seen in cameos in the "Scary Movie" franchise including a spot in the upcoming fifth installment and other spoofs such as "2001: A Space Travesty."

President Barack Obama needed 12 stitches in his upper lip after taking an errant elbow during a pickup basketball game Friday morning with family and friends visiting for the Thanksgiving holiday, the White House said.

First word of the injury came in a statement from press secretary Robert Gibbs nearly three hours after the incident.

The White House did not initially name the person who caused the injury, but identified him later Friday as Rey Decerega, director of programs for the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute.

Obama received the stitches under local anesthesia in the doctor's office on the ground floor of the White House after returning home. Doctors used a smaller filament than typically used, which increases the number of stitches but makes a tighter stitch and leaves a smaller scar.

The president had gone to nearby Fort McNair to indulge in a game of basketball, one of his favorite athletic pursuits. It was a five-on-five contest involving family and friends. Among the players were Obama's nephew, Avery Robinson, Education Secretary Arne Duncan and Reggie Love, Obama's personal assistant, who played at Duke University.

The White House said the injury happened during their fifth and final game when Decerega turned to take a shot and hit Obama, who was playing defense, in the mouth with his elbow.

Obama emerged from the building after about 90 minutes of play, wearing a short-sleeve T-shirt and gym pants, and was seen dabbing at his mouth with what appeared to be a wad of gauze. A few hours later, reporters who had gathered on the White House driveway for the arrival of the Christmas tree saw the president in an upstairs window, pressing an ice pack against his mouth before he stood and walked away.

"After being inadvertently hit with an opposing player's elbow in the lip while playing basketball with friends and family, the president received 12 stitches today administered by the White House Medical Unit," Gibbs said.

Decerega issued a statement through the White House late Friday. He did not immediately respond to an e-mail request from The Associated Press for independent comment.
"I learned today the president is both a tough competitor and a good sport," the statement said. "I enjoyed playing basketball with him this morning. I'm sure he'll be back out on the court again soon."

Judge blanks Buju's request to perform at concert. Meanwhile, his lawyers filed a motion to have the gun charge against Banton dropped.

A Boxing Day concert in Miami will have to go on without drug-accused reggae singer Buju Banton, even though hes been out on bail for the last two weeks.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Meanwhile, the lawyers representing Banton have filed a motion in court to have the gun charge against him dropped.

Buju is set to be retried on charges of drug conspiracy and possession of a firearm during the course of a drug-trafficking crime. But in documents filed in the US District Court in the Middle District of Florida last Monday, Bujus lawyers urged the judge to free him of the gun charge. As the court is well aware, the jury in this cause could not reach a verdict, and a mistrial was ordered. The government has indicated that it intends to retry the case. In the light most favorable to the government, the evidence was insufficient to convict Mr Myrie on Count 2, the 924(c) charge and, accordingly, Mr Myrie should only be retried on Count 1, Bujus attorney, David Oscar Markus, argued.

Amending the indictment

First, there is no evidence Mark Myrie knew that James Mack (a co-accused) had a gun in his car. The undisputed facts at trial established that Mr Myrie had never even spoken to or met James Mack before being arrested in this case. As for the second element, there is nothing that links Mr Myrie to this gun, added Markus. The lawyer charged that having realized that it could not prove that Buju aided or abetted the possession of the gun, the prosecution attempted to amend the indictment after the close of the first trial. There is simply no evidence that it was reasonably foreseeable to Mr Myrie that Mr Mack would be present at this drug deal and that he would be in possession of a gun, said Markus.

The court is expected to rule on the matter shortly.

Buju and his co-accused, Mack and Ian Thomas, were arrested last December after US law-enforcement agents allegedly recorded them planning a drug deal.

Mack and Thomas, who were held when he went to purchase the coke, subsequently pleaded guilty and are awaiting sentencing.

But Buju, who has repeatedly claimed he was not guilty, faced the court in a trial which ended in a hung jury.

He is now out on bail and scheduled to return to court for a second trial early next year.

gl.jpgAfter being married for 17 years, George Lopez and his wife are getting a divorce! According to TMZ, Ann Lopez filed legal documents yesterday in L.A. County Superior Court.

In the divorce petition, she cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the break-up. Ann, who donated her Kidney to Lopez in 2005, is also asking for spousal support and primary physical custody of their 14-year old daughter.

kanye-quincy1.jpgMusic legend Quincy Jones is clearing the air after making an off-the-cuff remark about rapper Kanye West. QJ, who has produced several hits including Michael JacksonThriller, labeled Kanye West just a rapper in an interview withUS Magazine, insisting that theres no comparison between the two

Did he write for a symphony orchestra? Does he write for a jazz orchestra? Come on, man. Hes just a rapper. Theres no comparison, Jones told Us Magazine. Im not putting him down or making a judgement or anything, but we come from two different sides of the planet. I spent 28 years learning my first skill. I dont rap. Its a whole different mindset. No comparison. None. I dont think about him much. Hes a great rapper, but there are a lot of good rappers.

In return, Jones received quite a bit of backlash from Wests fanbase, and now the legendary producer says his words were taken out of context and he has nothing but respect and love for his little brother Kanye West. Jones posted to his official website QuincyJones.com:

Id appreciate it if people didnt take my comments about Kanye West ( @KanyeWest ) or anyone else for that matter out of context to contrive a story. I have nothing but respect for my little brother Kanye and what he has achieved in his young career and I look forward to watching his evolution as an artist. There is a reason why we put him on the new We Are The World 25 for Haiti hes a great rapper. But having been in the music business for more than 60 years and having been fortunate to accomplish what I have over that time, its not unreasonable to put a comparison of Kanye at this time in his career and myself into the proper perspective. This is not dissing Kanye, this is simply trying to express that Im not a rapper! I dont need to take anyone elses props away from them. Lets all just try and keep the record straight.

Uncle Luke, the man whose booty-shaking madness once made the U.S. Supreme Court stand up for free speech, gets as nasty as he wants to be for Miami New Times. This week, Luke debunks rumors spread on blogs and YouTube that Jay-Z is down with the illuminati.

jay_z_devil_worshipper_photos.jpgPeople who depict Jay-Z as a devil-worshipping member of a secret society known as the illuminati are whack. Hov - as they call him - has constantly battled rumors he rose to the top by making a deal with Satan. Recently, he told website Hip-Hop Wired: "When people have a certain amount of success, it needs to be explained in a way other than hard work and talent and being blessed." He is absolutely on point.

All Jay-Z has done is work his ass off. Back in the day, he was on my pay-per-view program Luke's Freakshow. At that time, he was hanging with Biggie Smalls and observing how the late rapper dealt with fame. He learned from other rappers' mistakes, and that's why he has lasted so long in the business.

Jay-Z is a loyal guy who is way ahead of the game - you don't see him starting beef with other rappers or going to jail for stupid %&%*. But because he is so successful, and married to a very successful and famous woman (Beyoncé), people search for something screwed-up to say about him.

I don't know any devil worshippers. And who knows, maybe Jay-Z and other rappers have some devil worshippers as fans. But that doesn't mean entertainers are sacrificing virgins for Beelzebub. I didn't even know who the illuminati were until the Internet started buzzing that Jay-Z was one of them. It's ridiculous. Jay-Z is a cool cat. He ain't Hollywood. He is a regular guy. He is so f@#king grounded. It is a shame people want to link him to these lunatics.

Just because someone claims to see satanic symbolism in Jay-Z's videos doesn't mean it's real. Anybody with a deranged mind can conjure up images not really there. Two people can read the Bible or the Koran and come away with different interpretations.

But American society thrives on building people up and then tearing them down. Look at Tom Cruise. The tabloids go after him because he is a member of the Church of Scientology. If a man believes he is a spiritual, immortal being or a demon from Hell, it is his own motherf-ing business.

What people need to do is stop their obsession with the supernatural. Too many folks are into vampire and devil %&%*. They watch so many Twilight movies and True *la*hd reruns that they believe monsters actually exist.

I think it's more than appropriate to state "blind nomore".

Educated Americans with private insurance plans are becoming increasingly less prone to vaccinate their children, according to this years annual State of Health Care Quality report released by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). The report states that there was a four percentage point drop in vaccination rates among middle- and upper-class families between 2008 and 2009.

This was the first time wed seen a drop and it was a pretty big drop, Sarah Thomas, vice president of public policy and communication at NCQA, is quoted as saying to HealthDay. We didnt really explore the reasons [for the trend], but one leading hypothesis is that parents have decided not to get their children vaccinated because of concerns about the potential for side effects and even autism.

Meanwhile, vaccination rates among poorer individuals on government welfare programs like Medicaid have been on the rise. Programs like Vaccines for Children (VFC) that provide free (taxpayer-funded) vaccines to doctors who serve eligible children are among those that have spurred the increase within this socioeconomic group.

Many experts insist that vaccines are one of the greatest public health achievements in the world, but numerous studies point not only to their ineffectiveness, but also to the harm they cause to both children and adults (http://vactruth.com/).

Of course, there are other studies out there that insist vaccines are safe and effective, but most, if not all, of these studies are funded by the very drug companies producing the vaccines (http://www.naturalnews.com/030025_v). In fact, a former editor of The New England Journal of Medicine, commented on the extent of industry corruption by revealing that t is simply no longer possible to believe much of the clinical research that is published, or to rely on the judgment of trusted physicians or authoritative medical guidelines.

Even though many will criticize families who choose not to get vaccinated as being irresponsible and misinformed, avoiding vaccinations because of safety concerns actually makes a lot more logical sense than simply trusting the tainted studies used to quell fears and increase vaccine sales.

Now beginning to wonder if Malaria is genetically modified too.

Experts in the safety of genetically modified (GM) organisms have expressed concern over the release of GM mosquitoes into the wild on the Cayman Islands, which was publicised internationally only last month a year after their initial release.

The trial of the OX513A strain of the dengue-carrying Aedes aegypti mosquito, developed by UK biotechnology company Oxitec, was carried out on Grand Cayman island by the Cayman Islands Mosquito Research and Control Unit (MRCU) in 2009, followed by a bigger release between May and October this year. Together they represent the first known release of GM mosquitoes anywhere in the world.

Unpublished results of the trials, showing that the GM male mosquitoes competed with wild males, were presented at the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene annual meeting in the United States, last week (4 November).

The male GM mosquitoes mate with normal females to produce larvae that die unless the antibiotic tetracycline is present. In tetracyclines absence an enzyme accumulates to a toxic level, killing the larvae. The developers hope the strategy could be combined with other mosquito control methods to reduce transmission in dengue-prone areas.

Ricarda Steinbrecher, a geneticist and co-director of EcoNexus a UK-based non-profit research organisation expressed surprise that the trials had occurred, saying that they had not been mentioned at the fifth meeting of the Parties to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety which addresses international safety issues relating to GM organisms in Nagoya, Japan, last month.

She described the lack of publicity surrounding the trials as worrying, both from the scientific perspective as well as public participation perspective.

Steinbrecher said that until a full, long-term environmental assessment of the Cayman trials has been carried out, the recently announced Malaysian trials of the same strain should not go ahead.

Just over three million male mosquitoes were released in the Cayman Islands this year. Oxitec sent the GM eggs to the islands, which are a British overseas territory, and they were hatched and grown at the MRCU.

Angela Harris, senior researcher at MRCU, told SciDev.Net that her unit consulted with several Cayman Islands government departments beforehand.

Currently there is a draft biosafety bill, and despite the fact that this bill has not yet been implemented we carried out a risk analysis and review of the trial as if this bill was already in place.

She said that there had been a newspaper article and public consultation within the Cayman Islands.

Luke Alphey, research director at Oxitec, said an extensive risk analysis was carried out and we did lots of engagement work in Cayman, but no special effort either to spread the word internationally or not to [do so]. On the sidelines of a press conference in London today he said that he had not wanted to publicise the trial until the results were known. He did not know what the Nagoya meeting was, he said. An environmental assessment of the trial site is now being carried out.

Alphey said that the experiment complied with the Cartagena Protocol because prior informed consent was obtained from the Cayman government.

John Marshall, of Imperial College London, who has argued that the Cartagena Protocol needs overhauling to deal with the special demands of GM insects, said: Because the mosquitoes arent going to spread to other countries, its a national issue. I think Oxitec has done everything they needed to do.

The wild mosquito population in a 16-hectare urban area is believed to have been reduced by about 80 per cent. The next step for Oxitec, said Alphey, is to test the strategy in conjunction with other mosquito control methods.

Kathy Jo Wetter, a researcher with the ETC Group (Action Group on Erosion, Technology and Cooperation), a Canada-based organisation that promotes the socially responsible development of technologies, said ETC was unaware of the release.

Oxitec considers its trial successful just days after the experiment has ended, she said. But unintended impacts on the environment cannot be known, and Oxitecs unproven technology could make things worse in the long term. There is no possibility of recall if something goes wrong who takes responsibility in that case?

Extreme techno-fixes require extreme precaution, she added.

Alphey said they are waiting for approval for the release of GM mosquitoes in Brazil, Panama and the United States.

Realest Meds: Konshens (Cashflow) - This is a song about someone who knows his real friends. Konshens confirms that he knows about his friends so he doesn't need influence from the outside telling him about them and attempting to destroy friendship. He points out that he chose his friends and knows why he wants them around him. It is fresh to death as even though many songs bearing this topic have been done, the angle in which Konshens has taken has never really been explored.

Love Is: Courtney John (Fi Wi Music) This is not a typical reggae song. This track is fresh as Courtney has chosen a studio one authentic rock steady vibe and delivers this lovers rock perfectly with his voice. He sings in falsetto and delivers similarly to a Maxwell. This is totally different from other current reggae tracks. Courtney John has a huge fan base internationally and this song should definitely make a huge mark on the international scene. This track is really Fresh!!

Christmas Money: TOK (Romiech Records) - This is a Christmas dancehall track. This song has an original melody which is not typical of artistes as the usually sample typical Christmas jingles. It really speaks to the ladies and urges them to collect their money in preparation for the spending season. This is a fun track.

How you do it like that: Bugle (Black Street Records) - Bugle sings about a girl that he is watching at a party. He admires her swag and sings about what he is fantasises doing with her. This is a lustful song which Bugle attempts to deliver in a flirty way.

The girls dem love mi: Erup (Breadback Records) - This song is on an original dancehall from in the late 80s. The beat sampled was used by Major Mackerel to voice Don Man which was a huge number-one hit in the 80s. Erup flows in a Supercat type style. This is a different sound from Erup and it gives you that authentic 'rudebwoy' dancehall vibe. Erup always attempts to come on the scene in a different way and that makes this project Fresh to death.

Baghdad, Iraq (CNN) -- U.S. troops shot and killed an Iraqi man at Baghdad International Airport on Sunday morning, a U.S. military spokesman said.

A military convoy attempted to stop the man, who they spotted driving a vehicle at high speed on an airport road, Col. Barry Johnson said.

"The vehicle was perceived as a threat and a decision was made to engage it with small-arms fire in order to stop it and to protect the convoy from a possible attack," Johnson said.

The driver did not respond to U.S. hand signals before troops opened fire, he said.

Baghdad police said the man was an engineer working at the airport. They did not name him.

Authorities are investigating the incident, Johnson said.

CNN's Mohammed Tawfeeq in Baghdad contributed to this report.

Warning on Car Airconditioning

November 25, 2010
Started By Raja Pedz11 Comments
No wonder more folks are dying from cancer than ever before.  We wonder where this stuff comes from but here is an example that explains a lot of the cancer causing incidents.  Many people are in their cars first thing in the morning and the last thing at night, 7 days a week. As I read this, it makes me feel guilty and ill.Guess it's not too late to make some changes!!!

Car A/C (Air Conditioning)
MUST READ!!!

Please do NOT turn on A/C as soon as you enter the car
.

Open the windows after you enter your car and turn ON the AC after a couple of minutes.

Here's why
:

According to a research, the dashboard, sofa and air freshener emit Benzene, a cancer-causing toxin (carcinogen - take time to observe the smell of heated plastic in your car).

In addition to causing cancer, Benzene poisons your bones, causes anemia and reduces white *la*hd cells.

Prolonged exposure will cause Leukemia, increasing the risk of cancer.

Can also cause miscarriage. .

Acceptable Benzene level indoors is 50 mg per sq. ft.
A car parked indoors with windows closed will contain 400-800 mg of Benzene.

If parked outdoors under the sun at a temperature above 60 degrees F, the Benzene level goes up to 2000-4000 mg, 40 times the acceptable level.

People who get into the car, keeping windows closed will inevitably inhale, in quick succession, excessive amounts of the toxin.

Benzene is a toxin that affects your kidney and liver. What's worse, it is extremely difficult for your body to expel this toxic stuff.

So friends, please open the windows and doors of your car and give time for the deadly interior air to clear out before you enter.

Giving detail on his action to his 55-year-old mother Yannick Brea, Michael Brea says, 'I didn't want to kill her right away. I wanted to give her time to get right with God. I was slashing my mom.'

"Ugly Betty" actor Michael Brea has been willing to share specific details on the day he cut off his own mother Yannick Brea's head with samurai sword, insisting that he killed the demon inside her. Talking to New York Daily News in the prison ward at Bellevue Hospital, Michael calmly said, "I didn't kill her. I killed the demon inside her."

When the site informed him that Yannick died over his assault, Michael didn't show any remorse, saying with white-hot intensity and unflinching confidence, "So be it. It was the work of God." The "Step Up 3-D" actor sliced Yannick's head with a 3-foot long samurai sword in their Brooklyn, New York home on Tuesday morning, November 23.

Of the incident, Michael explained, "I was sleeping in my bedroom. God came above my bed and reached his arm to me. I said, 'God, is my time on earth over?' I heard a voice say, 'Yes Michael, today is your last day.' I asked if I could say goodbye to my family." Michael, who donned a light-blue prison jumpsuit and slippers, said that he told no one about his dream.

The following morning, Michael said that he received another sign while at the Prince Hall Masonic Temple in Harlem where he was approached by a man trying to put curse on him. "(He) kept trying to put something in my hand but wouldn't show it to me. I kept opening my hand. It was a Freemason pin. I wouldn't touch it," Michael claimed, adding that he began feeling ill and left.

After the encounter, Michael stated that strangers began speaking to him about his mother. "I felt like Neo from 'The Matrix.' I began hearing voices and feeling powerful. They were asking about the difference between mom and mother. It was a sign," he went on. And once he arrived at the apartment, he recalled, "I knew I would never see my mother again. I gave her lots of love."

After giving his mother a hug, Michel went to his room, lit candles and placed a dagger and a 3-foot ceremonial Freemason sword by his side. Yannick then called him and asked him to go to the kitchen and pour water from a pot in which she was cooking three chickens. "I looked at these chickens lying dead in the pot and a voice told me it was a sacrifice. It was black magic," Michael said.

Instead of doing what his mother told him to, Michael went back to his room, saying that his mother asked him with a different voice. "She had the voice of the demon. I opened the door with the dagger at my side and the sword. I asked, 'Do you believe in God?' She said, 'No, Michael no,' and began screaming. I began slashing her like this," he said, bringing his right hand down.

"I didn't want to kill her right away. I wanted to give her time to get right with God,"
Michael said. And although police had asked to open the door by that time, Michael didn't even worry. "I was slashing my mom and I heard the police knocking on the door yelling, 'Michael, open up, Michael, open up,' but I knew they wouldn't open the door and stop me because the spirits were protecting me. I just kept cutting her. No one could stop me," he added.

"I was doing the work of God. I'm named after a saint myself - Saint Michael. He was protecting the house from the police. They weren't allowed to enter the apartment," Michael said. "I heard voices telling me how powerful I was, saying 'Oh he's good'."

More than 300 die in stampede

The bodies and belongings of Cambodians, who died in a stampede, lie on a

bridge in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, tonight. (AP Picture)

PHNOM PENH, Cambodia - Thousands of people stampeded during a festival in the Cambodian capital, leaving at least 349 dead and hundreds injured in what the prime minister called the country's biggest tragedy since the 1970s reign of terror by the Khmer Rouge.

A panic-stricken crowd - celebrating the end of the rainy season on an island in a river - tried to flee over a bridge and many people were crushed underfoot or fell over its sides into the water. Disoriented victims struggled to find an escape hatch through the human mass, pushing their way in every direction. After the stampede, bodies were stacked upon bodies on the bridge as rescuers swarmed the area.

The prime minister's special adviser, Om Yentieng, denied some reports that the victims were electrocuted by lighting cables and that the panic was sparked by a mass food poisoning.

Ambulances raced back and forth between the river and the hospitals for several hours after the stampede. Calmette Hospital, the capital's main medical facility, was filled to capacity with bodies as well as patients, some of whom had to be treated in hallways. Relatives, some crying, searched for the missing Tuesday morning.

"I was taken by shock. I thought I would die on the spot. Those who were strong enough escaped, but women and children died ," said Chea Srey Lak, a 27-year-old woman who was knocked over by the panicked crowd on the bridge.

She managed to escape but described a woman, about 60 years old, lying next to her who was trampled to death by hundreds of fleeing feet.

"There were cries and calls for help from everywhere, but nobody could help each other. Everyone just ran," she said at Calmette Hospital, where she was being treated for leg and hand injuries.

Hours after the chaos, the dead and injured were still being taken away from the scene, while searchers looked for bodies of anyone who might have drowned. Hundreds of shoes were left behind on and around the bridge. An Associated Press reporter saw one body floating in the river.

The government television station said 349 people had been killed and 500 injured. (AP)

Trinidadian's NOT saying much on their phones: President George Maxwell Richards, among a list of prominent people, including politicians, trade unionists, journalists and even sports personalities phones had been illegally tapped

2573672246_82f8e64e01-e1284026544591.jpg

Prime Minister Kamla Persad Bissessar said Friday that President George Maxwell Richards was among a list of prominent people, including politicians, trade unionists, journalists and even sports personalities whose phones had been illegally tapped by a unit formed in 2005 by the then Patrick Manning administration.

In an immediate move aimed at preventing a re-occurrence of such an activity, the Prime Minister said her administration would introduced the Interception of Communication Bill 2010 that she said would provide that lawful interception of communication can only be done by means of a judicial warrant, applied for in writing by an authorised officer and issued by a Judge after he has taken a number of factors into consideration.

An effort by Manning to respond to the statement by the Prime Minister was denied by the Speaker, who pointed out that the rules do not allow for any debate on statements by ministers.

Persad Bissessar told legislators that the issue of wiretapping or interception of communications is a troubling and vexing one because it is a surreptitious invasion of your right to privacy and that while in opposition she had indicated to the country that the Manning administration was engaged in intercepting private conversations of citizens, including hers.

I now know this to be true, she said, naming a number of public officials including the present Speaker of Parliament Wade Mark, Opposition Leader Dr. Keith Rowley, members of the judiciary including former Chief Justice Sat Sharma, trade union movement, the media, former Olympian Ato Bolden and comedienne Rachel Price.

She said that the information about the operations of the Secret Intelligence Agency (SIA) came following a police raid late last month and that the government had earlier thought it had dealt with the issue of wire tapping when it disbanded the Special Anti-Crime Unit of Trinidad and Tobago (SAUTT) soon after it won the May 24 general election.

She said SAUTT, like SIA had been operating illegally and without any Parliamentary approval and that she was made aware of SIA as Chairman of the National Security Council.

At no time however, did my brief on this agency inform me that the agency was involved in illegal wiretapping and interception of communications of private citizens. Had I been briefed about this secret aspect of the agencys functions, I would have taken immediate steps to address an act which I am advised to be unconstitutional and illegal.

I was therefore shocked when I received a report, less than two weeks ago, which suggested that one of our security agencies, the Security Intelligence Agency (SIA) may also be involved in political wire tapping.

The Prime Minister said that the information suggested that sensitive information obtained via illegal wire tapping of government ministers phones was being supplied to a certain Opposition legislator who sits in this honourable House and served the highest level in government under the previous administration.

The Prime Minister said that the SIA had highly sophisticated equipment and at a time when the nation was under siege from criminal activities it grieves my heart to say whilst our children were being kidnapped and the Anti-Kidnapping Squad (AKS) seemed powerless and unable to trace the several telephone calls demanding a ransom, the SIA was busy listening to our conversations.

How many men women and children who were kidnapped or abducted could have been saved well never know, she said, adding let us not forget that some of those children have never been found and the stories from grieving parents about the archaic equipment that was used by the Anti-Kidnapping Squad in its failed attempt to trace the calls from the kidnappers as they demanded their pound of flesh.

The Prime Minister said that the illegal wire tapping net was cast far and wide and that such activity cannot be condoned as it represents a clear and present danger to our democracy.

Words cannot express the deep sense of personal outrage and hurt I feel about this matter. Such an unwarranted and unjustified invasion of citizens privacy is a cause for alarm. Why on earth would a government wish to engage in such unproductive illegal activity when the country was under siege as a result of criminal activity?

The Prime Minister said that apart from illegally intercepting phone calls, the SIA was also engaged in monitoring of peoples email,

One list provided by the Commissioner of Police contains the name of every single government Minister in the Peoples Partnership. Sadly, Mr. Speaker the names of our children are also included on this list, she told legislators, adding that it was with a heavy heart she disclosed the names of prominent public officials whose lives had been monitored illegally by the SIA.

I regret the further intrusion into the private lives by virtue of this disclosure but I felt it necessary to do so to demonstrate by reference to hard evidence the depth and extent of the dictatorial operations of the former administrations.

Under the former Government, Big Brother seems to have taken a very keen interest in ordinary citizens private lives and affairs. I want to reassure you that I do not intend to move from Big Brother tom Big Sister.

The Prime Minister said that the Special Branch indicated that the SIA was a virtual law unto itself that reported directly to the Minister of National Security and the Prime Minister.

She said there were also serious concerns about accountability and transparency after Special branch officers found TT$5.9 million dollars (US$983,000) in cash and an undisclosed quantity of firearm and ammunition were seized. TT $15 million (US$2.5 million) cannot be accounted for, the Prime Minister said, adding that there was also evidence to suggest that a massive sanitization operation took place after the general elections.

Empty folders carrying the name of the individuals who were the subject of interception were found.

Other records of taped conversations and tran scri ption of conversations have been removed and/or destroyed. We may never know all of the persons whose right to privacy was compromised by the unlawful intrusion of wiretapping.

The Prime Minister said that the appointment of the SIA director, Nigel Clements has since been revoked and that the lack of co-ordination among the security agencies cannot be allowed to continue.

Hence, we are in the process of reviewing the various intelligence agencies with a view to streamlining their activities so as to obtain the best value for money and a more effective system for gathering criminal intelligence.

The Prime Minister said that the Interception of Communications Bill will strike a balance between the need for regulated wiretapping in limited circumstances as a weapon in the fight against crime and the need to prevent the abuse and misuse of the power to intercept private communications.

let me make it clear: it is our view that wiretapping is an important tool that can greatly assist the police in the fight against crime and protect national security. It must however be carefully regulated and justified on the basis of necessary criminal intelligence or a potential threat to national security.

She said that gang activity, organized crime, violent crime and drug trafficking continue seemingly unabated and that detection rates are low and conviction rates are declining as eyewitnesses refuse to testify because of the very real fear of reprisal.

Governments worldwide have found it necessary to embrace the use of communications interception to collect the vital intelligence needed to gain the advantage to fight domestic and international crime and terrorism, she said, particularly in an era where there is an influx of telecommunications providers on the local market and Internet communications and transactions have grown dramatically.

But she maintained that the right of the individual must be balanced, however, against the interests of national security, the public interest and the economic well-being of the country. When these interests conflict the public interest must prevail where reasonably justifiable.

It is often necessary that individual rights are abrogated to some measure where there is a threat to the public good. In determining the rules to govern any society, priority must be given, inter alia, to the maintenance of public order, the security of the State and the prevention, investigation, detection and prosecution of crime.

As such, the State recognizes that in certain circumstances the rights of the individual may be suspended to allow the State to combat the threat. This is true whether the threat manifests itself as serious organized crime, terrorism or a threat to national security, the Prime Minister added.

www.reuters.com_.jpegPresident of the Republic of Colombia, His Excellency Dr. Juan Manuel Santos Calderón, has said that his country is willing to share its expertise with Caribbean countries, particularly Jamaica, in the fight against drug trafficking.

We are aware that only by working together, Jamaica, Colombia and the rest of the world that are increasingly being affected by the drug cartels, that we can jointly overcome this problem, he said.

He was speaking at a public lecture at the University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona campus in Kingston on Friday November 19.

President Santos said that his nation continues to fight the phenomenon with more and more success, with a professional and trained police force that has been learning from over 40 years of fighting the drug cartels, adding that it has been a successful war to dismantle the big cartels.

The subject of security and the effective fight against transnational crimes, such as drug trafficking, is a matter crucial to our nations future. Many countries in the Caribbean and Central America are going through tremendous difficulties similar to those Colombia faced in the past because of drug trafficking and its terrible effects on society, he said.

He pointed out that, in its fight against drug trafficking, Colombia has lost some of its best politicians, police, judges and leaders, but has managed to preserve its principles and democracy, noting that it is from the lessons learnt that the country can help other nations.

President Santos said that Colombia wanted to help Jamaica become effective in the fight against drug trafficking, before it is too late.

We in Colombia committed a big mistake thinking that that problem is not such a big problem. When we discovered it was a big problem, it was too late and we had to fight very hard to overcome it. But, we are telling our Central American and our Caribbean friends, dont go into what drug and alcohol addicts usually go into, (that is) the state of denial, he said.

President Santos stated that Jamaica and Colombia share many common goals, and that his countrys relationship with Jamaica and the wider Caribbean is important in tackling the problem of drug trafficking.

WHEN U PUT ASIDE ALL RELIGIOUS OBJECTIVES.....WHATS REALLY OUR PUPOSE FOR LIVING

I personally don't think that we have a purpose to be on this earth. We are just organisms that live atop some magnificent ball of dirt and water............. We are just going to keep going forward forever until the end.

All we are as humans are just a tiny speck of mass in an infinite universe full of questions. We mean nothing to the universe. We have our problems... war, crime, money, sex, but the inevitable truth is that the fighting on earth and the destruction of our land means nothing to the universe.

The universe will continue going and even though one small planet has run itself into the ground, it would be just like a freckle on the back of some fat guy... never noticed, never acknowledged, and it won't effect ANYTHING.

South African survey in province of Gauteng finds 37.4% of men confessing to rape, while 25.3% of women say they are victims in South Africa's wealthy province of Gauteng, a survey has found one in three men admitting to rape. Photograph: Ocean/Corbis

More than one in three South African men questioned in a survey admitted to rape, the latest evidence in the country of a violent culture of patriarchy.

Researchers found that more than three in four men said they had perpetrated violence against women.

Nearly nine in 10 men believe that a woman should obey her husband and almost six in 10 women also agreed with the statement.

South Africa has one of the highest rates of rape in the world. Last year a survey by the Medical Research Council (MRC) found that 28% of men in Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal provinces said they had raped a woman or girl.

A new MRC study in Gauteng, the country's wealthiest province, found that 37.4% of men admitted having committed a rape, while 25.3% of women said they had been raped.

The survey questioned 511 women and 487 men, of whom 90% were black and 10% white.

Rachel Jewkes of the MRC said: "We see a situation where the use of violence is so widespread that not only is it seen as being legitimate but I think quite often women forget it. They just see it as a normal effect."

Jewkes cited her survey's findings on gender attitudes. Although both largely agreed that "people should be treated the same whether they are male or female", 86.7% of men and 57.9% of women also endorsed the statement that "a woman should obey her husband".

Some 53.9% of men and 29.8% of women agreed that "a man should have the final say in all family matters", while 37.3% of men and 23.2% of women supported the view that "a woman needs her husband's permission to do paid work".

Asked about sexual entitlement in marriage, only 55% of both men and women said they thought "it is possible for a woman to be raped by her husband". Some 38.7% of men and 29.3% of women thought that "a woman cannot refuse to have sex with her husband" and 22.3% of men and 8.8% of women felt that "if a wife does something wrong, her husband has the right to punish her".

The survey also found that 32% of men and women agreed that "in any rape case, one would have to question whether the victim is promiscuous", while 20.1% of men and 15.6% of women said that "in some rape cases, women want it to happen".

Jewkes said: "What we see here is a set of attitudes reflecting men's views that they are legitimate in the use of violence against women, and women in many respects acquiescing to this."

2009 Digicel Rising Stars winner Mitzy Campbell aka Brown Shuga has changed her stage moniker to Shuga and has undergone a few changes since her shot to stardom last year. The blond duchess from Montego Bay has been holding her own in the male dominated local music industry by creating waves with new material that she believes is destined to propel her career to the next level.

Campbell, who recently changed her stage name to Shuga, has been working feverishly in the studio and the effort has borne fruit with three new singles including Commander in Chief and *la*hdy Hands produced by Keely B. Her third single that has been out is Money Talk produced by Annex Records.

Shuga is proud of her work. I have been out there doing my thing still recording and my latest work has been getting crazy reviews from fellow artiste and disc jockeys, she says.

Shuga emphasized that the name change completely differentiates her from another personality that already uses a similar name.
Campbell is not perturbed by the recent scenario. The name change for me is not a big issue, all I did was just to drop the brown from the Shuga, besides most of my friends and family call me Shuga anyway so nothing else has changed, I will still continue to put out the good quality music that my fans come to expect of me, and I believe it is a good move for my career.

The 24 year singer has had her fair share of challenges since she won the Digicel Rising stars competition, as for the latter part of 2010 she has been without a manager. Shuga has nevertheless remained current in the business.

I have done a couple of gigs locally working on the Hitz 92 Road show as well as some private events, but the work is still coming in and I know when I release the videos for my new singles things will definitely get even better.

As part of the prize for winning the Digicel Rising Stars completion, Shuga will soon begin work on a medley video for her two recent singles Commander in Chief and *la*hdy Hands. The video, to be funded by telecommunications company Digicel, will be directed by acclaimed music video director Kevin Lee.

Digicel Rising Stars producer Sharon Schroeter says the video, for the motivational song Commander in Chief, will showcase positivity and to encourage children to strive twards their life goals. Part of the video will be shot in studio utilizing green screen technology. The video will begin production sometime next week.

A pastor in Spanish Town, St Catherine, recently felt the wrath of an out-of-control exotic dancer who claimed that he had broken her heart.

Things are said to have got even more heated after the heart-broken dancer realised that the clergy man had one of her friends inside the house. She reportedly demanded that he came outside but he did not.

The irate female is said to have then grabbed up a piece of wood and started to smash the windows of his car.

As a result, the Man of God, rushed out of the house in an effort to stop her attack. The woman is reported to have continued behaving boisterously.

Eventually the police were called to the scene, however, the distraught pastor did not press any criminal charges.

Checks at the Spanish Town Police Station revealed that they received a report on the matter.

Meanwhile, the man of the cloth is maintaining a very low profile since the incident.

rooney.jpgLondon, England (CNN) England striker Wayne Rooney apologized to fans Friday for the way his contract dispute with Manchester United played out in October.

Weve seen many players leave the club and not do so well, so I am delighted I have stayed, he said on the teams website. I apologize (to the fans) for my side of things.

Rooney said in October he wanted to leave the English Premier League team after complaining it lacked ambition, something manager Alex Ferguson said left him shocked and disappointed.

The stars original deal was due to run out at the end of next season, and his agent had told United in the summer that Rooney wanted to leave the club he joined from Everton in 2004. He was linked with a January transfer window move to arch-rivals Manchester City.

Rooney changed his mind a day later, however, after talks with Ferguson, club chief executive David Gill, and Rooneys representatives. He signed a deal keeping at Manchester United until at least June 2015.

Everyone is saying I was definitely going to join Manchester City, Rooney said Friday. Believe me, if Id have gone, it wouldnt have been to another club in England.

Wednesday night, Rooney celebrated his first start in two months by scoring the only goal of the game against Glasgow Rangers in the European Champions League.

Rooney said it was such a great feeling, after a hard couple of months, but that criticism of his performances has been a bit overboard.

The girl, from the southern town of Knin, had only just started studying German at school and had been reading German books and watching German TV to become better, but was by no means fluent, according to her parents.

Since waking up from her 24 hourcoma however, she has been unable to speak Croatian, but is able to communicate perfectly in German.

Doctors at Split's KB Hospital claim that the case is so unusual, various experts have examined the girl as they try to find out what triggered the change.

Hospital director Dujomir Marasovic said: "You never know when recovering from such a trauma how the brain will react. Obviously we have some theories although at the moment we are limited in what we can say because we have to respect the privacy of the patient."

Psychiatric expert Dr Mijo Milas added: "In earlier times this would have been referred to as a miracle, we prefer to think that there must be a logical explanation its just that we haven't found it yet.

"There are references to cases where people who have been seriously ill and perhaps in a coma have woken up being able to speak other languages sometimes even the Biblical languages such as that spoken in old Babylon or Egypt at the moment though any speculation would remain just that speculation so it's better to continue tests until we actually know something."
