Ninja Allegedly Assaulted in Jail?

January 14, 2011

There are reports alleging that the Great Dancehall Star Ninja Man was assaulted while in jail. The front teeth gold teeth don gorgon was making repeated efforts to get out of jail late last year so that he could take part in Sting 2010, this never materialised. His lawyer should have made representation today, bringing the matter before the courts as well as making additional efforts to have the DJ released on bail.

Forget all the talk about Wiz Khalifa and Amber Rose... we're off that.

Amber looks like she's got her eyes on the oh so sexy video vixen Rosa Acosta.

The two arrived at Beso Restaurant in West Hollywood last night in separate vehicles, but left together only after locking lips in front of the cameras.

Now listen all you doubters, don't ruin my fantasy. If I choose to believe these two beautiful women are getting it on between the sheets, then let me enjoy that fantasy.

Yeah I know Amber Rose is filming a new reality show called 'Behind Her Shades', and of course this is great publicity.

But dammit that was real, wasn't it?

Make a sex tape ladies so we know it's official.

Aidonia challenged his former mentor in an interview that was posted on Youtube among other websites on Saturday. In the interview, the deejay challenges Kartel to respond to his statements via a song in three days or be seen as a coward.

Aidonia, who is surrounded by his fellow JOP members said, Kartel nuh have no lyrics, yuh turn singer. If yuh seh yuh a di baddest artiste just defend dis. When da interview ya drop mi a give him three days fi ansa and mi nah talk ansa pon no interview, ansa inna song.

He added, If three days pass and yuh nuh seh nutten, di world know seh Kartel a coward. Put it inna music and come sort it out and show di people dem seh yuh a nuh fool. Yuh only a gwaan like yuh bad and yuh a di biggest informer bout ya.

When contacted by THE STAR yesterday, however, Kartel didnt have much to say about the interview. He quickly said, sorry dont discuss artistes. Im too busy making millions.

The two deejays have severed links for quite some time now. Aidonia once noted Kartel to be an influence in his career calling him daddy in a song. However, the two parted ways after they left the Bounty Killer-led Alliance. Since then, Aidonia has seemingly thrown words at his former mentor in various songs but failed to admit that the lyrics were directed at Kartel.

In the interview, however, Aidonia confirmed that his songs Nuh Par Wid on Table Fi Table rhythm and Nuh Tek Chat on Dancehall EFX rhythm are challenges to Kartel.

When asked in the interview if he would participate in a lyrical face-off with Kartel, he said, long time.

Mi a di baddest thing musically. Mi will mek him sing 10 song and use one and kill him, Aidonia said.

This video with Aidonia comes after Vybz Kartels recent interview with an MTV radio station. In it, he said Aidonia is broke, hungry, a confused child and a drowning man grabbing at straws.

But Aidonia refuted these claims.

Kartel a coward. Him fi tell di people dem seh him fraid a Aidonia. From mi buss mi seh JOP. Him neva confused when him seh Bounty a him fada? Yuh come back and diss Bounty Killer. Yuh neva confused or yuh nuh memba? Mi nuh confused, mi know weh mi a do, a JOP mi seh , Aidonia said.

Aidonia also said Vybz Kartel should stop telling lies about the things he owns.

A Corey (Todd) things dem yuh a call your own? he said laughing.

He also mocked Vybz Kartels reference to himself as dancehall hero.

Bout yuh a dancehall hero. Super hero wear brief and tights and dem thing deh Wi a bad people. You a follow. Yuh a di biggest pirate, tek people things and turn it your way and try mek it look original. When wi a beat Clarks inna di ghetto, a some big Jordan and some jersey and some big hat yuh a wear. Weh unuh know bout grabba? A unuh a follower, wi a di leader, Aidonia said.

The self proclaimed Michael Cake Soap Jackson of dancehall music also known as Vybz Kartel was endorsed with the look. Someone had take it upon themselves, speculations are that it was generated by Kartel's team it self, to draft a picture that appear to represent a look similar to that of the now deceased Michael Jackson the king of Pop. Ok.. lets see how far Kartel is goint to take this..
is he going to do the nose job... to adjust his tone to sing songs?
grow some locks/hair to reduce the sun impact on his melenin?
overall reconstruction of himself to really take on the MJ challenge.... 12 months is a long time

Earlier this week the deejay known for his hard hitting lyrics extended the olive branch to former Gaza lieutenant Blak Ryno putting an end to the longstanding tension that existed between them. The peace initiative was orchestrated by a mutual friend who has been in dialog with both parties for some time now.

According to Aidonia, Me and Ryno never really have anything but you know how it go more time, a man haffi just hold him own and do weh him haffi do. Ah positivity and upliftment me seh, so if me see a way how me can help some yutes then me ago do that. Ryno concurred as he works assiduously to transform his career.

With this renewed friendship, members of both management team have hinted at the possibility of some collaborative projects in the future.

Meanwhile, Ryno fresh from his Bahamian stint and Aidonia from his European tour are expected to release a cluster of new singles in the weeks ahead.

3867698540_8e7c03bff4_z.jpgUsain Bolt continued to give shape to his running schedule when he confirmed another date for the international season.
Organisers announced yesterday that the 100 and 200 metres world-record holder will run at the Golden Gala meet in Rome on May 26.
No details were disclosed about what events he would contest and a spokesman for the Italian athletics federation said they were still working things out.

Earlier this week, Bolt announced that he would run at the Bislett Games in Oslo in June. It was the first date for this year that the 23-year-old sprint megastar had confirmed.
The Jamaican sprinter also disclosed that his recovery from a season-ending injury last year has gone well and he would be looking to be razor-sharp for this season, which also includes the World Championships in South Korea.
Bolt is the reigning World 100 and 200 metres champion, having set world records to win the events at the last World Championships in Berlin, Germany.

If you're the type of person who relies on mysterious-sounding locations of stars to determine your personality and outcome in life, get ready to be shocked.

The field of astrology, which is concerned with horoscopes and the like, felt a major disruption from astronomers, who are concerned with actual stars and planets. The astronomers from the Minnesota Planetarium Society found that because of the moon's gravitational pull on Earth, the alignment of the stars was pushed by about a month.

"When [astrologers] say that the sun is in Pisces, it's really not in Pisces," noted Parke Kunkle, a member of the group's board. Your astrological sign is determined by the position of the sun on the day you were born, so that means everything you thought you knew about your horoscope is wrong.

It turns out that astrology has had issues from its inception. (Aside from the fact that it tries to link personality traits with positions of the stars.) Ancient Babylonians had 13 constellations, but wanted only 12, so threw out Ophuchicus, the snake holder. Libra didn't even enter the picture until the era of Julius Caesar.

According to the Minnesota Planetarium Society, here is where the real signs of the Zodiac should fall. Get ready for your world to change forever.

Capricorn: Jan. 20-Feb. 16.
Aquarius:
Feb. 16-March 11.
Pisces:
March 11-April 18.
Aries:
April 18-May 13.
Taurus:
May 13-June 21.
Gemini:
June 21-July 20.
Cancer:
July 20-Aug. 10.
Leo:
Aug. 10-Sept. 16.
Virgo: Sept. 16-Oct. 30.
Libra:
Oct. 30-Nov. 23.
Scorpio: Nov. 23-29.
Ophiuchus:
Nov. 29-Dec. 17.  (Yep, this one is new )
Sagittarius: Dec. 17-Jan. 20.

Read all about Ophiuchus

The constellation Ophiuchus represents a man wrestling a serpent, dividing the snake's body in two parts.  It is the only sign of the zodiac linked to real men, sharing traits with Imhotep, a 27th century BCE Egyptian doctor, and biblical Joseph.

Like Imhotep, Ophiuchus is considered a healer of men and a doctor of medicine or science. He seeks higher education and enlightenment. He is expected to achieve a high position in life.

Like Joseph, he is an interpreter of dreams and vivid premonitions. He is envied by his peers and favored by his father and authority figures.

The Asclepius and the Caduceus, the medical staff, are based on the constellation.

Now all you new Ophiciuchi can move beyond your identity crises.

GanjaSeizureB20101107RM.jpgCops in the UK have launched a manhunt for international drug lord in connection with the seizure of £7 million-worth of ganja, shipped via Jamaica from Cuba last year, reports the Northampton Chronicle & Echo.
The drugs were individually parcelled and labelled, leading Northamptonshire police to believe that they were intended to be distributed throughout the UK. Police said their investigation had now centred on one individual.
Enquiries were made internationally with other law enforcement agencies and these are continuing, said Detective Chief Inspector Tom Davies. We are looking to arrest a man in connection with this seizure and we maintain an open mind as to the eventual destination of this drugs consignment, but we dont believe, at this time, it was intended for Northamptonshire.
The haul, believed to one of the biggest ever seized in the UK, weighed a total of 1.3 tonnes and was found on a lorry travelling between Daventry and Corby in April last year.

13th ZODIAC SIGN

January 14, 2011
Started By dark_law0 Comments
.New Zodiac Sign: Ophiuchus. Many are tuning into today as the news this week is that the standard zodiac signs may be out of date. Ophiuchus is a rarely used astrological sign, not included in most versions of the Zodiac. It is also known as Serpentarius. Astronomer Parke Kunkle told NBC News this week that the Earth's changing alignment in the last 3,000 years has prompted new consideration of the sign into standard zodiacs. In fact, the sign you are born into now are different than what you've been led to believe your entire life. Kunkle said: "This is not something that happened today. This has gone on for thousands of years," says Kunkle. "Because of this change of tilt, the Earth is really over here in effect and Sun is in a different constellation than it was 3,000 years ago." About the Zodiac In astronomy, the zodiac (Greek: , zdiakos) is the ring of constellations that lines the ecliptic, which is the apparent path of the Sun across the celestial sphere over the course of the year. The paths of the Moon and planets also lie roughly within the ecliptic, and so are also within the constellations of the zodiac. In astrology, the zodiac denotes those signs that divide the ecliptic into twelve equal zones of celestial longitude. As such, the zodiac is a celestial coordinate system, or more specifically an ecliptic coordinate system, taking the ecliptic as the origin of latitude, and the position of the sun at vernal equinox as the origin of longitude. It is known to have been in use by the Roman era, based on concepts inherited by Hellenistic astronomy from Babylonian astronomy of the Chaldean period (mid-1st millennium BC), which, in turn, derived from an earlier system of lists of stars along the ecliptic. The construction of the zodiac is described in Ptolemy's Almagest (2nd century AD). The term zodiac derives from Latin zdiacus, which in its turn comes from the Greek (zdiakos kuklos), meaning "circle of animals", derived from (zdion), the diminutive of (zon) "animal". The name is motivated by the fact that half of the signs of the classical Greek zodiac are represented as animals (besides two mythological hybrids). Although the zodiac remains the basis of the ecliptic coordinate system in use in astronomy besides the equatorial one, the term and the names of the twelve signs are today mostly associated with horoscopic astrology. The New 13 Sign Zodiac Dates Under the revised zodiac, the following dates would apply: Capricorn: Jan. 20 - Feb. 16 Aquarius: Feb. 16 - March 11 Pisces: March 11- April 18 Aries: April 18- May 13 Taurus: May 13- June 21 Gemini: June 21- July 20 Cancer: July 20- Aug. 10 Leo: Aug. 10- Sept. 16 Virgo: Sept. 16- Oct. 30 Libra: Oct. 30- Nov. 23 Scorpio: Nov. 23- Nov. 29 Ophiuchus: Nov. 29- Dec. 17 Sagittarius: Dec. 17- Jan. 20 Astrologers and Astronomers Weigh In When astronomers in 2006 declared that Pluto was no longer a planet, the world gasped -- and then obeyed. School textbooks were re-written, and scientific discovery ruled the day. Then this week, a Minnesota astronomy professor took on something even more sacred -- our horoscopes. The astrological calendar was all wrong, he said in public comments that set the Internet aflame. People might think they're a Pisces (compassionate, imaginative), but often they're really an Aquarius (witty, clever) -- at least based on an exact reading of the earth's orbit. Or maybe, if you were born between Nov. 29 and Dec. 17, you're actually a strange new zodiac sign: Ophiuchus, the serpent holder. 86481386.jpgZodiac signs could be changing.

The Minnesota Planetarium Society says the astrological signs we follow today are not what the Babylonians intended.

The ancient Babylonians based zodiac signs on the constellation where the sun was present on a persons birthday.  However, since the original signs were created,  the moon's gravitational pull has changed the Earths position. This created about a month-long bump in the star alignment and our current signs may be off by several days.

"When [astrologers] say that the sun is in Pisces, it's really not in Pisces," said Parke Kunkle, a board member of the Minnesota Planetarium Society.

So, whats your real sign?

Astrology buffs should be using these dates, reflecting where the stars currently are aligned:
    Capricorn: Jan. 20-Feb. 16
    Aquarius: Feb. 16-March 11
    Pisces: March 11-April 18
    Aries: April 18-May 13
    Taurus: May 13-June 21
    Gemini: June 21-July 20
    Cancer: July 20-Aug. 10
    Leo: Aug. 10-Sept. 16
    Virgo: Sept. 16-Oct. 30
    Libra: Oct. 30-Nov. 23
    Scorpio: Nov. 23-29
Ophiuchus: Nov. 29-Dec. 17 *Discarded by the Babylonians because they wanted 12 signs per year
    Sagittarius: Dec. 17-Jan. 20.

WHITE GIRL DISSES SPICE-*-*-

zerby_spice.jpgLyrics dissing Spice spew from the mouth of Zerby, on the Gladiator Rhythm. The white female dancehall artist, who is quite seasoned on stage and in studio; also as a musician, blurts out on her track titled, "Veteran:"

"Eh - when u see Spice tell har dis whappen now - gyal a come outa diaper an a gwaan like she hot - a fe ave respect u know...How dem a diss veteran artist when - not even platinum record she sell..."

As one of a few new tunes available on Zerby's Myspace, and representing a preview of her upcoming album, the song "Veteran," seems unpopular.

According to an AP freelancer, "Why diss Spice?" Or is it a publicity ploy by a virtually unknown artist who bills herself as dancehalls first white DJ.

Christina Macon came to New York with her sisters after the earthquake. She faces an uncertain future now that her tourist visa is running out.

Christina Macon came to New York with her sisters after the earthquake. She faces

an uncertain future now that her tourist visa is running out.

In the days and weeks after the 2010 quake, thousands of Haitians fled their homeland for New York - and now face an uncertain future because their tourist visas have run out.

They've found homes and work, enrolled in school and made new friends - only to be told they must return to a country gripped by disease and despair.

Stephanie Macon, 16, and her three siblings are living with their grandfather in East Flatbush, Brooklyn, and cannot imagine returning to Port-au-Prince, where their home was leveled.

"I feel safe," said Stephanie, a 10th-grader at John Dewey High School. "At first, it was crazy. Every time I was crying because I didn't know where to go. But now I love it."

She and her sisters applied for a visa extension and were turned down. A letter from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services said they should not be in school and are "required to depart the United States."

Haitian community groups say the plight of the Macons is not unique. Many survivors who rushed to relatives here will end up living in the shadows or forced to return to the disaster zone.

"They're trapped," said Yves Vilus, executive director of the Erasmus Neighborhood Federation. "This is going to be a huge problem."

Ninaj Raoul of Haitian Women for Haitian Refugees said her group's English classes are packed with quake victims whose legal status has expired.

"Too many people are being left out in the cold," Raoul said. "Obviously, these folks are not going to opt to go home to tents in Haiti right now."

Haitians who were here before the quake have until Tuesday to apply for a special legal status allowing them to work, but those who came after don't qualify.

"These are the folks that are direct victims," Raoul said. "They're not eligible for immigration relief, they're not eligible for work authorization, so they can't support themselves."

A spokeswoman for U.S. Citizen and Immigration Services said those here on expired tourist visas can return home and reapply or apply to stay for humanitarian reasons. The latter is given out on a case-by-case basis, and it's unclear whether the Macons would qualify.

Everyone in the family survived the quake, but the family's house was flattened.

"I didn't have any school to go to, and it was scary - outside, but inside, too, because it could shake again," said middle sister Christina, 12.

Their mother sent all of the kids - who already had tourist visas - to Brooklyn in March.

Their grandfather, livery driver Andre St. Louis, 64, welcomed Stephanie; Christina; Wilkinson, 18, and Woodlyne, 10, into his two-bedroom apartment.

"I thought they all were dead," St. Louis said. "And then I knew the only thing to do was bring them here. They love it here because they love the schools they're going to."

Teachers at John Dewey High School say Wilkinson, a senior who is fluent in English, should go to college here. The other children also are thriving.

"I'm scared and worried," Stephanie said of the prospect she might have to return to Haiti.

"I would be scared because I don't know if the earthquake could happen again. I would be worried because of my school - it's very different here. I would forget everything. I would not be able to study the same."

Haitians face a host of immediate immigration issues:

  • Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials say they will begin deportations to Haiti, suspended immediately after the quake, by month's end - and advocates are outraged.

"The idea that the U.S. would send Haitian nationals back to Haiti in the middle of a cholera epidemic and in the midst of postelection violence is unbelievable," said Sunita Patel of the Center for Constitutional Rights.

Homeland Security Department officials say they must lift the moratorium on deportations because they can't keep people in detention indefinitely and don't want to release them.

They plan to send back 700 people this year - only convicted criminals at this point.

  • The deadline to apply for Temporary Protected Status, which allows Haitians who were in the U.S. before the quake to work, is Tuesday.

Just over 7,000 people in New York have been approved. The deadline was extended after fewer Haitians than expected applied - in part because of fears they could be deported, advocates say.

  • Immigration quotas mean tens of thousands in Haiti who already have qualified to come here face a lengthy wait that can take years.

The delay is routine, but the U.S. makes an exception for Cubans. And community groups say Haitians deserve a similar exception.

"Given everything that's happening in Haiti, making them wait there means some of them won't survive," said Steve Forester of the Institute for Justice and Democracy in Haiti. "It's an outrage."

teddy-1294867005.jpgIt was only a week ago when America fell in love overnight with a homeless man with a "golden voice" on the streets of Columbus, Ohio. It was less than a week ago when we all watched Ted Williams life miraculously turn around after reuniting with his mother and finding work -- high profile work with Kraft and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Unfortunately for Williams, 53, old habits always die hard. According to a confirmed report by Gossip Cop, Dr. Phil convinced Williams to go to rehab after he got into a fiery exchange with his daughter Janey on Monday.

Gossip Cop spoke with a representative for Dr. Phil, whom Williams taped two segments with over the weekend. On the program, Williams admits to still drinking; his daughter accused him of sticking to the bottle on Monday.

While shooting the two segments, Williams and his family were reportedly kept separate in two hotels. The first episode was an introduction to Dr. Phil and the second episode, which aired on Wednesday, featured the family reunion.

In an interview with 'Entertainment Tonight,' Williams described a family gathering that devolved into a shouting match between him and daughter Janey.

"I wanted to bring it to a close by just saying 'shut the hell up and let me talk to your mother,'" Williams said. "When that was said out of my mouth, my daughter exploded ... fists started flying, none of which were mine, none of which were mine, but it could have escalated to the point where it could have gotten really ugly. So in the process of doing that, I got scratched on my face."

But Janey had a different story to tell, claiming the argument began because her estranged father, a recovering alcoholic and drug addict, had been drinking heavily since being plucked from obscurity.

"He has consumed at least a bottle of Grey Goose a night. That's not including the Coronas he ordered, that's not including the Budweisers he ordered, the other alcohol, the wines. He drinks heavily," she said.

Ted Williams denied he's been drinking, but admitted to CBS News on Friday that his sudden rise to fame has been a challenge. "I wanted a nerve pill yesterday, to be honest with you."

Life coach and radio host Mel Robbins tells PopEater that Williams' feel-good story was doomed from the moment it became clear the media was going to latch onto him and not let go.

"The media created a reality show right in front of our eyes," she says. "Ted Williams may have a golden voice, but he's also got a rap sheet, a drug addiction, nine children he abandoned and a mother he has been estranged from for 20 years. Does everyone deserve a second chance, sure. But don't kid yourself -- you can't overcome a lifetime of bad decisions and mental health issues with a few morning show appearances."

"If Ted is ever going to get better, he's got to be honest with himself and admit he's addicted to drugs and alcohol," Dr. Phil said. "I've told him it's not going to be easy and it's going to take a lot of hard work. It might be a long journey for him, but this is a big step in the right direction."

Brazilian forward Ronaldinho has joined Rio de Janeiro-based club Flamengo - ending any hope Blackburn had of signing the playmaker from AC Milan.

The 30-year-old, who joined Milan from Barcelona in 2008, had also been linked to Brazilian teams Gremio and Palmeiras but has signed a deal until 2014.

Blackburn boss Steve Kean conceded on Saturday the club's hopes of signing Ronaldinho were "dead in the water".

Rovers, who have new owners, had offered him a £20m three-year contract.

Flamengo president Patricia Amorim told the club's official website: "We are pleased to announce the hiring of Ronaldinho for the next four years.

"I thank the board for the discretion and wisdom throughout the negotiations. This project started from the first day I got the presidency.

"I thank the legal department to head coach Wanderley Luxemburgo and especially the fans of Flamengo."

Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri was never in any doubt that Ronaldinho would return to his homeland rather than opt for a Premier League switch, and he leaves the Italian club with six months left on his contract.

The two-time world footballer of the year began his career with Gremio at the age of 18 before moving to Paris St Germain in 2001.

After two years in France, he joined Barcelona as they aimed to match the glamour of the Galacticos at fierce rivals Real Madrid.

His arrival inspired Barcelona's renaissance as they won La Liga in 2005 and a league and Champions League double in 2006, with the Brazilian producing some of the best form of his life.

In the summer of 2008 he turned down a move to Manchester City in favour of move to the San Siro but he failed to reproduce his Barca form for Milan.

He lost his place in the Milan starting XI when Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Robinho arrived last summer and, with Antonio Cassano having signed from Sampdoria this week, there is no space for him in Allegri's line-up.

Rat On Subway

We've all probably done it. After a long day at work or a rough night at the bars, plenty of straphangers doze off on the subway.

But the next time you feel your eyelids getting heavy as you ride the rails, keep in mind that you may wake up with a rat on your face.

Yes. That's what happened to one unsuspecting man who was catching some zzz's on the 4 train near the Franklin stop in Brooklyn. A rat crawls up the outside of the man's pant leg and goes right up to his mug before the rat's victim wakes up in horror.

After the rat scurries away, the man tries to play it cool and assures the camera man, "I'm fine."

But what about us? Are we fine after watching this? No. And what's worse is that we just pledged our salary to cab fare. Or maybe this is nothing more than a viral campaign that will eventually urge us to buy rat protection? Whatever it is, we will buy it.

cake+soap.jpg

Dr Dhiru Tanna, chairman of Blue Power Group limited, soap manufacturer and building retailer, has rubbished claims that the popular 'blue soap' or 'cake soap' made by his company, has any skin lightening effect, or that the controversy surrounding the product has increased sales.

"Blue soap does not bleach. It has no ingredients in it that damages the skin," Tanna said. "If anybody is saying that it will discolour the skin or take off pigmentation that is absolutely not true," he told the Business Observer.

Tanna also denied claims that as a result of the popularity of the song the price of the soap or the sales of his products have increased.

On the other hand, he told the Business Observer that "one of Vybz Kartel's producers called us to use one of the machines we use to make the soap appear in his video."

He said he agreed to the use of the machine but with the caveat that "they must tell people that the blue soap that we make will have no effect on bleaching the skin". Tanna said he was assured that this would be done. Vybz Kartel has since released a follow up song, 'Cake Soap' for which the video was shot, but in neither of the songs has he explicitly claimed that the soap causes bleaching.

Tanna said his product is a laundry detergent and even though there are varieties, which can be used for personal care, none of the soaps that Blue Power produces has the effect of lightening the skin.

"No, our company would not have the technology. We make laundry and bathing soaps. I don't know how to make anything else," Tanna said, explaining that his company is now focused on extending into the bathing soap market, which he "has not even begun to touch".

Kartel has himself expressed the desire to manufacture his own brand of 'cake soaps', but Tanna said Blue Power, which is the largest manufacturer of laundry detergent in Jamaica, was not approached to make it, and that despite Blue Power's expertise in making soaps, it would not be a business line he would consider going into at this point.

He said he was told by Kartel's camp that the proposed soap would be a medicated soap for acne.

Tanna explained that a medicated soap would most likely be made overseas and imported into Jamaica with a higher cost base than currently obtains for the soaps that Blue Power manufactures.

"If he is importing medicated soap then it would be coming from abroad and with the duty structure it would be in a different market from us," Tanna said. "Making soap is quite a complex business, you need an extensive distribution network and a manufacturing establishment."

Kartel ignited a fire storm of controversy, and multiple musical counteractions, when he claimed in an interview that the reason for his noticeably lighter complexion was as a result of the use of 'cake soap' combined with the effect of air conditioning. The use of 'cake soap' to enhance the complexion was initially referenced in his song 'Straight Jeans and Fitted' in which the most popular line was "cool like mi wash mi face wid the cake soap".

Blue Power Group became the first manufacturing company to be listed on the Junior Stock Exchange in April last year. The soap and hardware conglomerate, founded over a decade ago, currently enjoys a 40 per cent market share in the soap manufacturing and distribution business in Jamaica. With the soap manufacturing operations on Victoria Avenue off Windward Road, the hardware operations is located in Papine and books revenue of over $40 million per month. For the second quarter ended October 31, 2010, Blue Power Limited posted a 77.3 per cent increase in net profit resulting in a gain of $3.7 million over the corresponding second quarter of 2009.

One of the hottest songs for 2011 Carnival season may be pulled from rotation on radio stations over a copyright issue.

The Copyright Organisation of Trinidad and Tobago (COTT) is seeking to contact Benjai (Rodney Le Blanc) since the rhythm used in the song, Trini, is the same one used in Singing Dianes 1979 song You Gotta Give Away.

According to COTT Mechanical Lisencing Officer Enrico Camejo, Ed Watson, who wrote the original song, is looking to collect royalties from the use of the rhythm which was allegedly produced at the New York-based Art and Life Studios.

Upon investigations, COTT has found that the Art and Life Studios took the recording, manipulated it, added pieces and made the rhythm without the clearance of the band leader and he has left it to us to take care of it, he said.

The studio will have to pay damages totaling over US$6,000. If they are unable to do so, Benjai may have to pay these damages.

Camejo said the studio said Benjai is not signed with them, he did not pay them for anything and the rhythm was not made for him specifically. He said however if the composer is not compensated, radio stations will have to take the song off rotation.

It is a beautiful song but the rights must be cleared so all could enjoy its benefits. COTT is of the stance that if samples of the original recording were used to make the rhythm, rights have to be cleared, Camejo said.

He said the organisation is expected to attempt to contact Benjai by today. Newsday made attempts to contact the artiste but was told he is out of the country and not expected to return until Tuesday.

Police Chief Wants Jones & His 4 Crime Fighting Homies To Kick Rocks "Does Superman Get His Ass Kicked?"

superhero.jpg

In a scene right out of the movie "Defendor". a Seattle crime fighting "super hero" Phoenix Jones saw a fight over the weekend and went to break it up. And just like Woody Harrelson's character in 'Defendor', Phoenix Jones got his ass mopped and dropped, ending up with a broken nose.

But the caped crusader has no intention of ending his mission of crime fighting. Oh no, as a matter of fact he has a crew of crime fighters with him.

There's Buster, Dee, No Name, Troop and Phoenix.

"I don't go around and look for people who park their car wrong," Phoenix tells KOMO "I do acts of violence -- I physically saw you assault another person and I intervened."

That's just how he ended up getting his nose broken. The police want these amateurs to hang up their capes for good, before one of them gets seriously injured.

"Does Superman get his ass kicked?" one detective said. "These people should not be called superheroes."

"They insert themselves into potentially volotile situations. And they themselves end up in trouble." says Detective Mark Jamieson

prison-5.jpg

A massive search of the Georgetown Prison yesterday to help clamp down on the illegality unearthed a number of prohibited items being possessed by prisoners.
Sources at the prison yesterday told this publication that over 20 cell phones were taken away from prisoners. Ranks also seized over 45 improvised weapons from inmates.

A small quantity of marijuana was found in certain cells also.
One senior officer at the prison said that prison officers and soldiers joined forces to search the maximum security jail.

Up to late Sunday afternoon, soldiers were on guard but eventually they retreated, leaving behind police and prison officers. No guns or ammunition were found during yesterdays search.

Officials rejected the suggestion that the search had anything to do with intelligence that persons were trying to free two of the three treason accused who are being housed at the Camp Street jail.
Yesterdays search according to officials is the second within the last three weeks.

1.4 Million Pigs Buried Alive!

January 12, 2011
Started By GA6 Comments

South Korea's decision to bury 1.4 million pigs alive in an effort to curb the spread of the highly contagious foot and mouth disease (FMD) has sparked the ire of international animal activists.

According to reports, the first case of FMD -- which affects all cloven hoofed animals including pigs, goats and cattle -- was confirmed in November in Andong city of North Gyeongsang province, and has since spread quickly. Officials began embarking on a mass cull of roughly 12 percent of its swine population to combat the disease, primarily because it affects the nation's ability to export meat, Food Safety News is reporting.

Cake soap company lightens Kartel's claim

January 13, 2011
Started By SVG3 Comments

Former Jamaica basketball senior representative and former US Collegiate star Rumeal James Robinson was last week sentenced to six-and-half years in prison for financial fraud.

Robinson, who helped the University of Michigan to the 1989 NCAA Division One title, beating Seton Hall in over time in the final played in the Seattle Kingdome, was found guilty in September last year to 11 charges, including bank bribery, wire fraud, conspiracy to commit bank fraud and making a false statement to a financial institution, reports carried in several American newspapers and websites, reported.

The Mandeville-born and Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA raised Robinson who was a lottery pick by the Atlanta Hawks, selected 10th in the 1990 draft, played for six teams, including the New Jersey Nets, Portland Trailblazers and the Los Angeles Lakers in six plus seasons in the NBA.

He also played in the Continental Basketball Association and had one season in Europe playing for KK Zadar in the 2001-2002 season.

He is also accused of selling the house owned by Helen Ford the Boston woman who took him off the streets at age 10 and raised him without her knowledge. She subsequently lost her home as a result in April last year.

Robinson, who made two free throws with three seconds to go in over time for Michigan in a tumultuous season, was catapulted into cult hero status and parlayed it into an early draft pick.

According to an article on the Sports Illustrated website carried on Saturday, prosecutors say Robinson schemed between 2004-05 to borrow more than US$700,000 from a bank in Ankeny, Iowa, with the help of a loan officer. They say he claimed the money was for a business, but that he actually bought a condominium, cars, furniture and invested in an energy company.

Robinson, who had relocated to South Florida, was also ordered to pay nearly US$1.2 million in restitution.

He could have been sentenced to up to 30 years in prison and fined US$1 million on each count according to the NewsOne website.

The site also reported the 6' 2" Robinson had the help of Brian Williams, a loan officer at the bank who pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit bank fraud before Robinson's trial began.

Williams is said to have signed off on an initial US$377,000 loan to Robinson for his business, Megaladon Development Inc, which was supposedly pursuing a development deal in Jamaica. Instead, Robinson bought a condo, plasma TVs and designer furniture, prosecutors said.

Prosecutors said Robinson put the condo in the name of his girlfriend, listing her as his company's marketing director though she actually worked in a strip club.

The Miami New Times website reported that in 2007, Robinson who made over US$5 million while playing in the NBA, was broke and living in small motels, far from the exclusive neighbourhoods he used to frequent.

According to a story carried in the Cambridge Chronicle in October 2009, in 2003 Robinson tricked his adoptive mother into thinking she was signing a mortgage on her home of over 30 years, that he would help pay.

The article said Robinson had told her of a real estate opportunity in Jamaica and asked for her support to build a luxury vacation resort.

A well known person, whose charitable work had seen her win many community awards, Ford is reported to have said she never heard anything from the bank for years and had no idea the mortgage was not being paid by Robinson.

The Cambridge paper said: "In December 2007, she received a notice from Cambridge District Court telling her that she had to vacate her home by February 2008. Apparently Robinson had deeded the property to numerous other business associates, and in 2006, one of those individuals defaulted on a loan which forced the bank to take ownership."

Ford was able to extend her stay for an additional year, but as of April she has been living in a two-bedroom apartment in Somerville. The grandchildren, who were living with her, have been displaced to the homes of other family members.

SAN FRANCISCO Former Harvard University classmates of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg want to throw out a $65 million settlement of their lawsuit that alleged the social network was their idea.

Lawyers for twins Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss argued their case before the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Tuesday. They claim they were duped into agreeing to the 2008 settlement after Facebook lawyers and executives misrepresented the value of the company.

But the three-judge appeals panel appeared reluctant to reopen the case. According to the San Jose Mercury News, the judges noted that the Winklevosses were well-educated and had good legal advisers at the time, so they should have known what they were getting into.

PALO ALTO, CA Mark Zuckerberg announced that Facebook will be shut down in March. Managing the site has become too stressful.

Facebook has gotten out of control, said Zuckerberg in a press conference outside his Palo Alto office, and the stress of managing this company has ruined my life. I need to put an end to all the madness.

Zuckerberg went on to explain that starting March 15th, users will no longer be able to access their Facebook accounts.

After March 15th the whole website shuts down, said Avrat Humarthi, Vice President of Technical Affairs at Facebook. So if you ever want to see your pictures again, I recommend you take them off the internet. You wont be able to get them back once Facebook goes out of business.

Zuckerberg said that the decision to shut down Facebook was difficult, but that he does not think people will be upset.

I personally dont think its a big deal, he said in a private phone interview. And to be honest, I think its for the better. Without Facebook, people will have to go outside and make real friends. Thats always a good thing.

Some Facebook users were furious upon hearing the shocking news.

What am I going to do without Facebook? said Denise Bradshaw, a high school student from Indiana. My life revolves around it. Im on Facebook at least 10 hours a day. Now what am I going to do with all that free time?

However, parents across the country have been experiencing a long anticipated sense of relief.

Im glad the Facebook nightmare is over, said Jon Guttari, a single parent from Detroit. Now my teenagers face wont be glued to a computer screen all day. Maybe I can even have a conversation with her.

Those in the financial circuit are criticizing Zuckerberg for walking away from a multibillion dollar franchise. Facebook is currently ranked as one of the wealthiest businesses in the world, with economists estimating its value at around 7.9 billion.

But Zuckerberg remains unruffled by these accusations. He says he will stand by his decision to give Facebook the axe.

I dont care about the money, said Zuckerberg. I just want my old life back.

The Facebook Corporation suggests that users remove all of their personal information from the website before March 15th. After that date, all photos, notes, links, and videos will be permanently erased.

The St Catherine North police are searching for a male teacher from a high school in the parish who is alleged to have forcefully performed oral sex on a male student.

The indecent assault is said to have taken place in a classroom at the school.

Reports are that about noon, on the last day of the school term in December, the complainant who is 15 years old was in a classroom at the school. He was about to leave when the teacher approached him.

It is alleged that the teacher asked to see the student's penis. The Star learnt that the teenager complied and the suspect then held on to him.

The teacher is said to have further gone ahead and placed the student's penis in his mouth.

After the ordeal, the emotionally shattered teenager related the act to a family member. A subsequent report was made at the Spanish Town police station and an investigation launched.

Meanwhile, persons close to the boy expressed concern about the teacher not being caught.

THE STAR made checks in the St Catherine North division and a senior officer said the matter is being given their full attention.

weird wtf this story messed up--i think both the student n teacher are @#$gots hmm

Now a mass fish die-off in Chicago...

January 11, 2011
Started By Jollyjo1 Comments

In another in a bizarre series of international animal die-offs, thousands of gizzard shad have been turning up dead along the Chicago lakefront in recent days.

The three- to five-inch fish, members of the herring family, were dying in droves, frozen in chunks of ice or simply going belly-up in open water.

The fish die-off has turned the local ecosystem somewhat topsy-turvy, as Canada geese and mallards have been swooping in to the cold Lake Michigan waters to prey on the dead shad.

Brian Lara statue unveiled

A US$30,000 bronze statue of cricket icon, Brian Charles Lara, was unveiled yesterday at the western end of the promenade named after him, in Port-of-Spain.

It was a low-key affair, sans any Government officials or Lara himself, who is in India for the Indian Premier League (IPL) Twenty-20 player auction.

Unfortunately for Lara, who had entered the auction with a reserve price of US$400,000, he was not selected by any of the teams.

Back home in TT, Laras statue, which can easily be seen by motorists on Wrightson Road, shows the batsman and former West Indies captain in his signature pull shot, standing on top of the world, facing east.

Planning consultant, landscape architect and managing director of Down South Design Limited, David Smith, told Newsday the idea for a statue of Lara was conceived by the Promenade Management Association and Eye Scream Animation in 2006 but it was shelved due to lack of funding.

We brought it back to life as part of a project, just prior to the Fifth Summit of the Americas in 2009, to beautify downtown PoS. The statue and the Childrens Art Exhibit just down the promenade, were funded in 2009 by the Ministry of Local Government, under the (Manning) administration.

The statue, inclusive of the cricket stump base and the globe upon which Lara stands on one leg, is 14 feet high, making it, Smith said, tall enough to be seen from Wrightson Road and low enough to be appreciated from within the Promenade.

When asked why it took so long to erect, Smith explained this was partially due to funding and then the hand-crafted fabrication process used to create the sculpture.

Florida-based company, Bronze Depot Incorporated, created it at its foundry in Bangkok, Thailand, using a process known as Lost Wax Casting.

Laras statue is just the beginning of refurbishment plans for the western end of the promenade.

Smith expressed hope that corporate and Government sponsors would be inspired by the effect of the bronze sculpture on the existing landscape, to approve funding for the a new entrance plaza to the Brian Lara Promenade.

He said the redundant stretch of Richmond Street would be replaced by an extension of the Promenade while a low-level berm would run parallel to Wrightson Road, providing some privacy to people as they sat on new, more comfortable, benches.

Brian Lara holds the record for the highest individual score in first-class cricket, 501 not out. He is the only batsman to have ever scored a hundred, a double century, a triple century, a quadruple century and a quintuple century in first class or test cricket.

Classroom Lesbian Romp? Oh No She Was Giving Me An Insulin Shot, Claims Teacher Caught With Colleague Kneeling Between Her Legs In Darkened Classroom After Hours!!

alg_mauro_britosplit.jpg

What looked like a scene from a porn flick was really a medical emergency, the naughty teachers at Brooklyn's "Horndog High" told investigators.

James Madison High Schoolteacher Alini Brito said she was getting an insulin shotfrom co-worker Cindy Mauro whena janitor saw her naked from the waist up with another nude teacher kneeling between her legs.

Brito's excuse was part of testimony released Friday from a state arbitrator's report on the scandal. The 30-year-old Spanish teacher was fired after city officials received the report on Dec. 27.

The "Horndog High" sagabegan Nov. 20, 2009, while students were attending a sing-and-dance competitionin the auditorium. While witnesses said they saw a romantic tryst, the teacherstried to explain all the evidence away as a misunderstanding.

Brito, a diabetic, told investigators she started feeling ill and asked her French teacher colleague to "check her *la*hd sugar," according to the report.

"Let's go upstairs," Maurosaid, according to the report. "I have sugar and candy in my room."

By the time they got to Mauro's classroom on the third floor, Brito said her "knees got weak," so she lay down on the floor.

Brito took off her sweater and Mauro placed it under her colleague's head, Brito said in the report, then Mauro puta chair under Brito's legs "to aid her circulation."

Brito said Mauro was kneeling next toher with the lights off when the janitor popped in. Mauro was fully clothed,Brito told investigators.

The janitor, who said he saw two topless women rolling around on the floor, summoned school safety officer Ruth Reyes.

She described what she saw in Room 337 quite differently.

"[Brito] was naked on thefloor... and I saw the blond between her legs, and when I opened the door, she looked up and told me to shut the door," Reyes told investigators.

By the time Assistant Principal Jodie Cohen got to the room minutes later, she sawBrito "leaning against the teacher's desk... and she seemed to be, like, zippering her boot and finishing buttoning her shirt."

The testimony was enough for state arbitrator Mary Crangle to rule it was "more likely thannot" the teachers were in the middle of "a sexual encounter."

Both teachers were reassigned afterthe 2009 scandal. Mauro is still awaiting disciplinary action.

Brett Reese, member of the Greely-Evans School District 6 Board of Education in Colorado, is throwing major shade at a man who has been nationally recognized as one of the most revolutionary civil rights activists of our time.

Reese is actively broadcasting an attack against King  on his private 104.7 FM radio show that was submitted by one of his listeners. The broadcast claims that King is a just a sexual degenerate, an America-hating communist and a criminal betrayer of even the interest of his own people.

martin-luther-king-jr.jpg

Reese also stated that His name isnt really Martin Luther King Jr.

When Reese was asked whether or not his broadcast was an appropriate one to be made by a school board member he responded, Its you know what? Thats a good question.

His colleagues dont agree. According to the Denver Post, Tobias Guzman, chairman of the Human Relations Commission for Greeley, believe its inappropriate and unfortunate that Reese is using the letter to perpetuate hate into the American community.

Hes continually putting anger in the minds of people and hate in the minds of people, and its unfortunate that that is his method of operation, Guzman said.

Yet Reese defends his stance on the pubic broadcast. I guess, personally, I believe in the message, the general message of what this letter is about, Reese said.

He has been on air for three years and recently began broadcasting twice a day. Although there have been several calls for his resignation from the school board, he plans to continue broadcasting the commentary every day up until the national observance holiday for Martin Luther King, Jr. on January 17th.

FANS of Buju Banton who cannot reach Miami to attend his 'Before the Dawn' concert this weekend, can catch watch it in Jamaica on LIME Mobile TV.

There is tremendous anticipation around the event this Sunday, given that Banton is awaiting a trial date in Tampa, Florida on charges of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute five or more kilogrammes of cocaine and aiding and abetting the possession of a firearm during a drug-trafficking offence.

This will be his first concert in more than a year following his arrest in December 2009 and subsequent mistrial.

Right now the buzz is all about the Buju Banton concert but we know that realistically a lot of Bujus most loyal local fans cannot make it to Miami for the show so LIME is bringing Buju to them, said LIME spokesman, Stephen Price.

The concert will also feature reggae stars including Stephen Marley, Gramps Morgan, Wayne Wonder, Tarrus Riley & Dean Fraser, Shaggy, Nadine Sutherland, Freddie McGregor and Everton Blender.

kissing.jpgThe first question you'd likely ask a young adult if you were screening him or her for sexually transmitted disease (STD) would be whether he or she had been sexually active.

But new research suggests that his or her answer might not always comport with lab results.

Of 14,000 people (whose mean age was about 22 years) included in astudy published this morning in the journal Pediatrics, fully 10 percent of those who tested positive for one of three common STDs (Chlamydia, gonorrhea trichomoniasis) reported they hadn't had sex during the previous 12 months.

And 60 percent of that 10 percent said they'd never had sex at all.

The numbers held even after researchers controlled for such variables as gender, race, age and education. The authors acknowledge some room for error: for instance, study participants were only asked about penile/vaginal penetration, not about oral or anal sex. The timing was such that a person could have had sex during the study period but not within the 12 months before the question was asked. And there's some small possibility of false positive readings on the urine tests used to detect STDs.

Still, the authors say, the findings suggest that physicians treating teens and young adults should perhaps use lab tests to screen all those patients for STDs, as screening only those who report they've been sexually active may lead to many cases going undiagnosed and untreated -- and ready to spread to others.

Such routine screening could of course prove controversial in some circles.

Would you want your teenage or young-adult offspring screened for STDs as a matter of course? Or do you think such screening should be reserved for young people who report they've been sexually active?

Kartel to start own shoe brand

January 7, 2011
Started By Pesadilla22 Comments

After making Clarks the popular shoe to be worn in 2010, deejay Vybz Kartel is looking to run 2011 with 'Addi's', his own brand of shoes that will be distributed in Jamaica.

Speaking with THE WEEKEND STAR yesterday, Kartel who is known as a businessman with products such as Vybz rum and Daggerin condoms, spoke about some of his new ventures for the new year. One of which is his own brand of shoes called 'Addi's'.

Kartel explained, "because I gave Clarks such a big hype (with the song Clarkes) and received nothing in return - although truth be told I wasn't looking for anything from them I was just keeping it real to my art form because that's what I wear. But seeing how powerful I was in terms of branding products, I decided to capitalise on my penchant for setting trends."

made in Vietnam

According to Kartel, the shoe, which includes sneakers and casuals for both men and women, will be launched before spring and is being made in Vietnam. He further added that he has not found a distributor for the shoe, which will be sold only in Jamaica, and he is currently in negotiations with a few retail outlets. As well as shoes, Kartel will be distributing T-shirts, belt buckles and dog tags.

"The designs on the T-shirts and the shoes are obviously the brainchild of the Teacha. The idea for the belt buckles and dog tag came from my business partner," he said.

As to whether he thinks his fans and others will react to his shoe line positively he said, " Does the sun shine?"

Addi's isn't the only product to be released from the deejay in 2011 with his much talked about cake soap to be released as well. The soap is called 'Vybz cake soap' and as Kartel says, "It shape like viagra because it's just as potent."

The deejay celebrates his birthday today and will be hosting two birthday parties called 'Vybz Kartel's Birthday Gaza Gala'. The first edition will be held tonight at The Building in New Kingston and the second on Saturday at Club Jamaica Jamaica in St Ann.

The deejay in recent weeks has been pressured by the local police who raided The Building three times in two weeks. Kartel, as well as his partner Corey Todd have both spoken out about what they believe is unfair treatment by the police in raiding the club.

When asked if he was worried about police raiding his birthday party he commented, "either way the party sell off. When cops are around, only criminals worry. I welcome the police to act as they see fit in serving and protecting the public."

Oprah Winfrey wants to make instant internet sensation Ted Williams her OWN.

The multi-millionaire entrepreneur says there's a spot for the once-homeless recovering alcoholic with the golden voice on her newly launched Oprah Winfrey Network.

"I would like to see him be part of OWN," Winfrey told Inside Edition in an interview airing Friday. "It would be fantastic to hear him say, 'The Oprah Winfrey Network.'"

Winfrey said she was among the millions captivated by Williams' tale of redemption.

Oprah Winfrey this week in California talking about her new network, OWN.

"The reason we're all so fascinated, I think, is because it means you can be homeless on the street, carrying a sign like we've all seen, and this can happen to you," she said.

It's just the latest job offer for Williams, who earlier this week was panhandling for change on the streets of Columbus, Ohio.

In a sitdown with his mother, Williams heard some tough advice about taking advantage of his unlikely second chance at success.

"Don't disappoint me," begged 90-year-old Julia Williams on Friday's "The Today Show," just one day after their tearful reunion.

"Hold your life together. Just don't let things fall apart and you fall in with the wrong people. That's the part that upsets me about him. He's a good person, and he's easily pulled into things," she added.

The duo embraced for the first time in 20 years on Thursday.

"Hi, Mommy," Williams said over and over, running into his mother's arms as cameras clicked away.

Since the 53-year-old and his velvet voice became an overnight sensation, Williams has received a flurry of job offers. He signed a contract with Kraft, voiced an MSNBC promo and is even being pursued by the Cleveland Cavaliers for work.

Williams acknowledged that he, too, is concerned about heading down the wrong road again. But the new star said he wants to pick one job to focus on - and plans to see a therapist.

"I feel like I'm going to need it," he said.

Williams said he avoided his mother for two decades because he was ashamed of his unfulfilled promises to turn his life around.

"I felt like I brought so much disgrace to this world," he said.

"It was like a broken record," his mother said of the times her son vowed his voice would make him a star someday. "All I got was promises."

Williams described the reunion as a prayer that had finally been answered.

"We just bawled up, teared up both of us, and when mommy cries, that makes me cry," Williams said. "We didn't even say anything. We just hugged ... It was like a dream come true."
