DEVA BRATT ON THE RISE AGAIN

Deva new6 225x300 Deva Bratt: international producers more interested in my career than local ones
Stage Name:
Deva Bratt

Real Name: Sheldon Smith

Birthday: July 23

How did you get started in the business?

First of all, I used todance in a group called Cool Kids, and then there were two deejays, Lazarus and Nicotine, weh did inna my scheme over Westchester. Dem use to do dem thing underneath the lightpost and mi used to put in a one and two line inna dem songs, and from there I learnt how to manipulate words and experiment with different flows.

What has been your greatest challenge in the business yet?

The whole promotional aspect. I dont know what it is that you have to do to make all the disc jocks play your songs. Another thing is that I wish I hadnt missed all the big rhythms that I missed and didnt get to record on.

What have you been up to lately?

Me and the producers in my circle who are mostly young producers, are putting out some juggling rhythms and a lot of singles without the big name artistes on them. Im also voicing for a lot of big overseas producers like GQ Beats, Upsetter Records, Jahmari Records and Major Leagues Records because they seem to be more interested in my career than the local producers.

Do you look up to any specific artiste and why?

Well, I look up to Beenie Man and Fambo at the moment. These two have the same outlook on life that I have. Dem clean, jovial and dem nuh hype pon people and such.

Are you happy with the way things are going for your musical career right now?

Yes, Im happy. I know that things can be better, though. Im just waiting on the time or the thing to make it better.

Do you have any advice for young artistes coming up?

Have respect for the producers and your management team. Without having a team around you, its hard. Listen to their advice and, whatever you do, always think originally.

Where do you see yourself in the future?

I see myself making most of the artistes who say that theyre running the place look like fools where lyrics are concerned. You know, the so- called hype lyricists.

The Old Testament will have a new look in the next edition of the New American Bible, one of the most popular English-language Bibles. And it'll also have some big changes in many cases, words like "booty" and "virgin" are removed in the new translation.

Scholars translating from ancient Hebrew and Greek for the new Bible decided that the meaning of those words had shifted in the 40 years since the Old Testament was last updated in the New American Bible.

Here are some of the swaps included in the new Bible:

  • "booty" is now "spoils of war" for presumably obvious reasons.
  • "virgin" becomes "young woman" especially where the original uses the Hebrew word "almah."
  • "holocaust" will become "burnt offerings" - scholars say that was closer to the original meaning, before "holocaust" came to be identified with the genocide of World War II.
  • "cereal" now co-opted by General Mills and Post, becomes "grain."

Scholars sometimes clashed as they sought to refine the Bible's language. An article from the Catholic News Service quotes Kathleen Nash, a professor who translated the book of Joel:

There were disagreements, to be sure, such as over whether the pronoun "he" should be used in all references to God, she said. Another effort was made to substitute "it" for references to the church as "she."

"That didn't fly," Nash said.

And according to Reuters, one case where "almah" will now be rendered as "young woman" instead of "virgin" in the new Bible occurs in Isiah 7:14, where the birth of Jesus Christ to a virgin mother is foretold.

"The bishops and the Bible are not signaling any sort of change in the doctrine of the virgin birth of Jesus. None whatsoever," Mary Sperry, who oversees Bible licensing for the bishops, told Reuters.

Before publication, the changes were approved by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. The new volume, called the New American Bible Revised Edition, will come out in a variety of paper and digital formats, including as a cellphone app.

Jose-Mourinho-Real-Madrid-cropped

Jose Mourinho has been attacked by a knife-wielding man, according to reports.

A man armed with a dagger is reported to have tried to stabbed Mourinho while he signed autographs at the airport in the northern Spanish city of La Coruna, where his Real Madrid side played last weekend.

Ex-Chelsea boss Mourinho was unharmed, but a bodyguard was reportedly left with a 4cm (1.5in) stab wound under his arm.

Spanish media said the security guard, called Eduardo, only realised he had been stabbed when he boarded the team bus with the Real Madrid coach.

He thought he had been punched until he saw the B l o o d pouring from the wound.

Real Madrid security chiefs believe the attacker meant to harm Mourinho.

The bodyguard was treated for a 4cm wound.

Mourinho was only told about the incident on Thursday, Spanish media said.

Newspaper El Periodico said: "Mourinho stopped to sign autographs in arrivals, where a large number of Madrid fans were waiting for the team.

"The bodyguard was near the manager and noticed he had been stabbed in the armpit.

"The security guard realised he had a 4cm wound caused by a sharp object.

"Mourinho was very worried by the incident."

Security cameras recorded the drama and the attacker, said to be a tall man, has been identified.

The incident happened last Friday but has only just been reported by the Cadena Sur news channel.

It is not clear if Mr Mourinho was aware of the attack at the time.

The consumption of weed brownies by a group of boys from a Corporate Area high school created quite a stir recently, after they were reportedly observed behaving strangely after eating the pastry.

" Dem did a act unusual ... dem did a walk up and down like dem lose dem shadow," a fourth-form student from the school told THE WEEKEND STAR.

Information reaching THE WEEKEND STAR is that the brownies were baked and brought to the school by a student who then distributed them to his schoolmates who ate them.

behaving strangely

Moments later, at least one fifth-form student, who was said to have eaten one of the brownies, was described as behaving strangely and had to visit the school nurse to seek treatment.

"The man f**** off a the brownie them ... when him eat it and ting, him go a nurse," another student emphasised to THE WEEKEND STAR.

THE WEEKEND STAR was also told that it had become the popular topic of discussion among students from the upper school as they are the ones who knew about the incident.

It was also said that the baking and distribution of such pastries with weed as their main ingredient is a popular practice at the institution.

However, the school principal told THE WEEKEND STAR that the authorities at the institution were unaware of the incident. The principal said there was some talk and some investigations were conducted but nothing was unearthed by the probe. "I know nothing about that. My dean of disciplines knows nothing about that ... if it's going on I know nothing about it," the principal said.

The Big Ship family in association with Tru-Juice will be invading St Catherine with their event Tunn Up St Catherine during next week's holiday interval. The seafood day festival and concert will be staged at the Dinthill Technical High School next Friday, March 11 and will host a sweeping variety of activities for children and families.

The Dinthill Technical High which is nestled near communities like Bog Walk, Ewarton, Spanish Town, Guy's Hill and Linstead, will open its gates for the day's festivities at 10 a.m. Patrons will be able to gain free entry to the seafood festival and get to purchase the excellent assortment of meals ranging from fried fish, steamed fish, shrimp, lobster, crab, conch and more. Additionally, patrons will be given a free offering of fish soup and Tru-Juice with every meal purchase.

Also, parents won't need to worry about finding activities for the kids. Children will have a medley of activities including bounceabouts, and rides to choose from throughout the course of the day. Others can also enjoy football, cricket and domino tournaments.

'Captain of The Ship' Freddie McGregor says, "It's definitely a fun day with lots of fun activities for everyone to come out and enjoy at a minimal cost. During the day, everyone will be able to come in for free and enjoy the seafood festival and the extensive meals, which will be extremely affordable. We just wanted to do something for the people of St Catherine and we thought a family-fun day with every activity and food choice was a fitting thing to do and a great way to spend the holiday week."

Later on that evening, the venue will be cleared for the night's grand concert which begins at 9:30 p.m. There, students from all schools will be able to gain access for only $500 with their IDs while others will pay $1,000.

Kingston: 'Diamond Princess' Trina, who will be honored as an "International Friend of Reggae" at the 2011 Excellence in Music and Entertainment (EME) Awards in Kingston, Jamaica on March 12, 2011 is looking to add some Jamaican flavor on her 6th studio album which drops later this summer.

"Yes, I am working on a new song currently that I'm looking to get a reggae/dancehall artist on as we speak. More details will come soon, hopefully prior to my visit" she noted.

"I love Lady Saw, Gyptian, Movado, Sean Paul, Buju Banton and Sean Kingston. I am a fan of island music period. I love these artist for many different reasons, as well as, their talent and energy they give with the music they release" she said.

It was just a few weeks ago that Trina got the news that she would be honored in Jamaica.

"My first reaction was exactly these words...Really! No really!" she exclaimed. "I just kept saying that to my publicist. She laughed but I was really in shock and very happy for the honor and admiration. I am really excited and very grateful for this honor."

This is not Trina's first visit to the reggae capital of the world, as she delivered a phenomenal performance, that was "full of energy and excitement" at Reggae Sumfest in Montego Bay a few years ago. She is hoping to replicate that excitement when she hits the stage at the EME Awards at Devon House in Kingston on March 12.

"My fans can expect a very tantalizing show that is full of fun and energy at the EME Awards this year!" she said.

Since being introduced to the hip hop world in 1998 by Trick Daddy on the hit anthem "NANN," Trina has maintained a vibrant threat of a successful business woman with over a decade of success. With such an experienced career, Trina continues to deliver a diverse spectrum of lyrical keen and talent while remaining a force of beauty and strength for women of today, tomorrow, and the future. Her growth as a female lyricist has been consistent as she seeks to take her career to the next level.

For 2011, she plans to expand her brand beyond the musical talent that the world is familiar with. She plans to pursue an acting career, as well as embark on a multitude of business endeavors.

"My whole career has been a journey filled with obstacles, growth, passion, pain and success," Trina expresses. "I am happy to continue to evolve and allow the world to see this same evolution as a business woman, an entrepreneur and just as a woman who can make accomplishments or mistakes just as any other human being.

The EME Awards is sponsored by Energy Beat Ltd, CVM TV, Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB), Zojak Worldwide, HOT 102 FM, Starlight Productions, www.IMAGESnewsletter.com, Grafton Music and Entertainment Konnections.

Walmart Weed

A retail store billing itself as "the Wal-Mart of weed" will open its doors in Sacramento tomorrow, the Sacramento Bee reports.

The 10,000-square-foot weGrow outlet, advertised as a one-stop shop for legal growers seeking supplies and training, claims the honor of being the industry's first-ever national franchise. Look for outposts of the self-proclaimed "first honest hydro store," which started as a solo warehouse operation in Oakland last year, to sprout up in Arizona, Colorado, Oregon, and even New Jersey in the coming months.

The Ganja Galleria doesn't sell any actual pot--it just sells supplies, provides classes, and offers an on-site doctor to help customers choose their favorite strain.

According to the Bee, the store's founder chose its opening location strategically. And he has no qualms being forthcoming about its purpose:

"I just thought it was a statement to have something close to the state Capitol," said Dhar Mann, who founded the original iGrow in January 2010. "It's a statement of how progressive the industry has become. We're all about coming out of the shadows."

With California, 14 other states and the District of Columbia legalizing marijuana for medical use, the hydroponics industry is exploding. But, unlike weGrow, most hydroponics outlets avoid any mention of marijuana, billing themselves only as generic suppliers for people growing anything from peppers to rosemary.

"Please don't kill me, don't kill me," the five-year-old of a slain young woman repeated over and over yesterday.

The youngster seemed quite unaware of his mom's brutal murder at her home in Queen Hill, St Andrew, yesterday morning. He, however, remembered her last words before she was killed.

Hours earlier the same words, "Please don't kill me", were not enough to save the life of 28-year-old Latoya Murdock.

Reports are that about 7 a.m., she was at her home preparing breakfast for her family when three masked, armed men entered the home.

When THE WEEKEND STAR visited the house after the crime, her grandfather said; "Dem tied me up and my grandson too and put us to lay face down for about 15-20 minutes while they carried out their job."

Murdock's body was later found in the dining hall area with her throat slashed. A torn blouse was evidence that Murdock was in a struggle with the vicious men.

THE WEEKEND STAR also understands that the men allegedly stole a playstation game and two car keys.

The gate to the premises was also chained by the men.

"I first got a call from the nanny that the men had tied up my grandfather and brother downstairs and so I called the police but when I got to the house with the police I couldn't get in because they had chained the gate. I also broke down when I saw my grandfather and my brother crying," Murdock's sister said.

The pain that Murdock's family was feeling was etched across their faces. However, her one-year-old daughter was seen playing, totally unaware that her mother is no longer around while her five-year-old son repeated what could have been her last words.

Murdock, who was studying law, was described as a jovial and outgoing person.

The St Andrew South police are conducting investigations into the crime.

Deejay Vybz Kartel and producer NotNice are remaining quiet as to whether there is a rift between them. Rumours were circulating that the two had stopped working together musically since mid-February. According to several sources, NotNice was assaulted and his studio equipment removed from his house where he was working. It is alleged that Kartel was behind the removal of the equipment. However, it is unclear as to the reasons behind the move. When The STAR spoke to Ainsley 'NotNice' Morris yesterday, he was silent on whether there is an existing rift between himself and Kartel. When asked about the musical projects he is currently working on, the producer said, "No comment towards nothing at all." taught himself The normally talkative Kartel was also silent on the matter giving no comment at all except to say that he recently released Empire Universe the Second Chapter on iTunes. The album was released on the Adidjahiem and NotNice Records. NotNice shot to fame as a producer through his work with Kartel in 2008. In a previous interview with The STAR, the producer explained that having taught himself to build rhythms, he started to work at Ruckus Records, where he recorded artistes on his Charity rhythm. However, it was after leaving Ruckus and linking with fellow Waterford members Blak Ryno, Shaun Storm and Dosa Medicine that NotNice started to make a name for himself in Portmore. He later linked with Kartel producing the Cool Shade rhythm, which features Kartel's Seh Weh Yuh Feel Fi Seh as well as the Fight Fi War rhythm which features a song of the same name from Blak Ryno and Jah Vinci. Hits followed for the producer with Kartel including Last Man Standing, Rampin' Shop, Get Wild and countless more

gangsinparadise.jpgThere could be retribution attacks if 67 gang members, now in custody, are released due to lack of evidence from the now disbanded Special Anti-Crime Unit of Trinidad and Tobago (Sautt), PNM MP Donna Cox warned yesterday. Speaking during the Lower Houses debate on death penalty implementation legislation, Cox said the PNM could not support the bill in its current form.

She also said she hoped Government knew what it was doing with Sautts dismantling. Cox said Government should reconsider dismantling Sautt, since its removal would have a detrimental effect on crime detection and the local murder rate. Noting that Sautt was a key crime-fighting agency, she questioned if Government was serious about fighting crime.

Cox said there were many gang leaders in prison because of Sautts efficient work. She added: By disbanding Sautt, I hope all the investigators return to give evidence against the 67 gang members who are in custody. If they are released there may be retribution attacks. Cox voiced concern about the several pieces of sensitive information in Sautts database. She said: We need to be careful this information does not get into the hands of criminal elements.

What will  happen to all the highly-trained Sautt members? There will be a significant loss of investment in  manpower and human resources and low morale for those who will now have to work with a reduced income. Cox said in the past three years Sautt prevented over 200 homicides and in one night alone ten potential homicides were prevented. She suggested that part of the legislation (clause 61) under debate apply to employees of the new National Intelligence Agencywhich replaces Sauttand other law enforcement officers.

She said the same protection offered in another clause for family members of witnesses and jurors also should apply to the immediate family member of the security forces. Cox dismissed Government claims she misled the police with regard to the police compensation package.

ONE of the minor gods in Greek mythology was called Proteus, who was known for his power of prophecy. He is better known for his ability to assume different shapes in order to avoid answering questions. This latter description can easily be applied to a national leader prominently in the news these days. Right from the beginning more than 41 years ago when he overthrew the monarchy that ruled his country for 17 years, Muammar Gaddafi has eluded any firm definition of his character outsiders apply to him. All except one ruthless, despotic ruler of Libya.

52d487c22aee9bd05cad81990bcd-grande.jpg

Even the spelling of his name gives outsiders trouble a few years ago a British newspaper, the London Evening Standard, counted 27 spellings while the US Library of Congress is reported to list 32. The problem is that many letters in the Arabic and Roman alphabets do not have a direct equivalent sound, and the picture is complicated by differing regional accents of Arabic. Most English-language broadcasters and publications have settled on a few variations of Muammar Gaddafi, but the closest rendering I have come across is one from a Libyan publication of the 1970s Muammar Qathafy, in which the Q is indistinct and the TH is stressed as in the English this, that or the other.

dead-africa-mercenaries1.jpg

This modern Proteus has been variously described as mercurial, flamboyant, a mad dog, eccentric, megalomaniacal, murderous and a terrorist. He was born of a Bedouin family in a tent and affected that style during his public career. Gaddafi nurtured notions of overthrowing the old order from his days as a cadet at officer school, and when King Idris (the only king Libya ever had) left for medical treatment in Europe he and a few like-minded junior officers took advantage of the opportunity. Since September 1, 1969, Gaddafi has been sole ruler of his oil-rich North African country smack in the middle of the Sahara desert.

246654311.jpg

He had long admired the coup in neighbouring Egypt by a cabal of army officers led by Colonel Gamal Abdel Nasser. Nasser introduced an amalgam of traditional Arab traditions and socialist tenets in a new ideology he dubbed Arab Socialism, and Gaddafi used that template to bring in his own version of Islamic Socialism with a blend of the welfare state and Arab nationalism. He also admired the powerful revolutionary despots of the day and took his cue from the publication in China of Mao Zedong's Little Red Book setting out how Chinese revolutionaries should behave. Gaddafi's Little Green Book, which appeared in three volumes, covered the gamut from religious observance to the proper way to perform one's bodily functions.

alg_moammar.jpg

He renamed his country the Great Socialist People's Libyan Jamahiriya. Jamahiriya is a combination of two Arabic words which mean "state of the masses" and which Gaddafi coined to signify that his country was a republic ruled by the masses or, to use a term popular in the old Soviet Bloc, "people's republic". That might have been the intention, but in practice Libya became one of the biggest kleptocracies in the world. Its major source of income by far is petroleum. With fewer than 6.5 million people, Libya obtains about the same per capita earning from oil as does Saudi Arabia. But instead of spending the money on building up infrastructure and diversifying the economy, Gaddafi preferred to look beyond his borders.

At first he entertained the notion of a grand Pan-Arabism with him in the forefront, but after he caused all manner of trouble in places like Lebanon, Yemen, Sudan, Saudi Arabia and Palestine, the other Arab countries regard Libya practically as a pariah.

qaddafi.jpg

Gaddafi engendered the wrath of the United States and several other countries by fostering terrorism. He maintained a steady supply of weapons to the IRA in Northern Ireland, the Basque separatist group ETA in Spain, as well as fringe groups in several other parts of Europe. He was implicated in the bombing of a night-club in Germany which killed American servicemen, and engineered the bombing of a Pan American airliner over Scotland in 1988. He even embarked on a programme to develop nuclear weapons.

After the world slapped sanctions on Libya, he changed tactics, made reparations, allowed accused people to be tried in foreign courts, and discontinued the nuclear efforts. Foreign diplomats and business people beat a path back to Tripoli not because they thought he was taking the path of righteousness, but because of what lay beneath Libya's parched sands.

amin20110222113422373.jpg

He turned to Pan Africanism and used Libya's oil wealth to curry favour among leaders throughout the continent, savoury or unsavoury. Some of it has been beneficial - his support of Nelson Mandela's African National Congress earned him the undying gratitude and affection of the respected statesman, and he has helped needy states like Mali, Chad, Liberia, Niger, the Central African Republic, Somalia and Ethiopia. Right now he bankrolls a 20,000-strong peace-keeping mission in Darfur, sponsored by the African Union and the United Nations. The mission could be in serious jeopardy if that support were to disappear.

109262453.jpg

Gaddafi is among just a few people who still maintain a dream of a united states of Africa, and Libya provides 15 per cent of the dues of the African Union. While his fellow Libyans see themselves as Arabs or desert tribespeople, he has tried to portray Libya as an African nation and in his usual flamboyant fashion appears in public wearing tunics bearing the portraits of prominent African leaders. He once proclaimed himself "king of kings" on the African continent and has welcomed hordes of people from neighbouring countries to work in Libya.

But for all the money Libya has earned from its oilfields, Libyans are much worse off than their counterparts in other oil states. Gaddafi has not built anything like a "people's republic", but rather has devoted his efforts to maintaining himself, his family and associates in power. They have made themselves fabulously rich through a network of state enterprises and have salted away much of the money in financial havens like Dubai and other Persian Gulf states as well as south-east Asia.

0224_libyan-protest-500x354.jpg

Using a combination of playing off one tribal group against the other and outright brutality, Gaddafi has retained power for more than four decades. His days now appear to be numbered. Libya is sandwiched between Egypt to the east and Tunisia and Algeria to the west. Unlike the despots in Cairo and Tunis who left to avoid *la*hdbaths in their countries, Gaddafi is in no mood to be conciliatory. He went on the air to describe his opponents as rats and ****roaches, the young demonstrators as being drugged with hallucinatory pills "in their drinks, their milk, their coffee, their Nescafé" and even claimed that al Qaeda is behind the protests.

The worst thing that could happen is a full-scale civil war, with its attendant cost in *la*hd. The Protean, Gaddafi, seems to have run out of disguises, and we see him only as the violent despot. He could still prevail, although with each passing day the forces against him seem to gain strength. One thing is certain - like Mubarak in Egypt, Gaddafi is determined to remain in Libya and to die there. The only question is ... how?

A Florida couple who allegedly tasered a 13-year-old boy in their care to discipline him have been charged with child abuse, Tampa police said. Christopher Lewis, 22, and Deonijhane "Amy" Menifield, 19, were arrested earlier this week, Tampa police spokeswoman Janelle McGregor said. She said Lewis was a relative of the victim, a 13-year-old boy whose name is not being released for confidentiality reasons, and was taking care of him.

Lewis had bought the stun gun about a week before the arrest, police said. "Since that time, both suspects have been using the stun gun as a form of discipline against the victim," according to a police statement.

"The 13-year-old boy told one of the employees at his school what was going on, and the employee called the police," McGregor said."We noticed visible marks on the boy that were consistent with his story." The teenager had been tasered on his upper thigh, cops said.

Lewis and Menifield were arrested at their Tampa home on Tuesday and were both charged with child abuse. Lewis also faces charges of carrying a concealed weapon. Police said that when they arrested him, he was carrying a 12-inch hunting knife in his jacket.

A neighbor, Frances Helms, told ABC affiliate WFTS-TV that she watches the victim and saw the marks on the boy's arms this week. "It looked like a burn mark," said Helms.

The management of artiste Khago say they are completely against his recent recording of a song that is alleged to be a counteraction for a song previously recorded by I-Octane.

In a release sent to THE WEEKEND STAR yesterday, the artiste's manager, Bankey, said that his organisation, Bankylous Production, was not in support of any lyrical confrontation with any other artiste.

"We ah try to put out wholesome and cultural messages. Even if the songs are fun, it must not be seen as an attack on another artiste as we are not into lyrical warfare. We really hope that I-Octane does not take it personal," Banky stated in the release.

He further stated that the song, *la*hd A Boil, which surfaced on the Internet on Sunday, was recorded without the management team giving the necessary go-ahead. He said that such songs are not in accordance with the policies of Bankylous Productions.

In the song, which was released recently on TJ Records' Bottle Party rhythm, Khago deejays, Nuh bwoy cyaan hug mi up afta mi nuh catty/Nuh bwoy cyaan bad mi up mongrel nor ratty/ Mi sure seh woman alone wash dem hair and flash it/ Mi nuh sissy man no mi nuh act ****y.

The song is said to be a direct counteraction of I-Octane's song Nuh Ramp Wid Wi done on Cashflow Production's Bus Stop rhythm. In that song I-Octane had deejayed; "Nuh bwoy pon Earth can put dem hand inna mi natty/Nuh bwoy caan draw mi locks when mi wash it and a flash it."

In a story published in THE WEEKEND STAR on Tuesday, Khago had dismissed the talks of a controversy between him and Octane as mere rumours. I-Octane's manager, Ray Alexander, had also said that he was not sure if the song was directly aimed at his artiste.

Now that the song has already been released, Banky yesterday said that his team will be making amends as he believes that both artistes should be looking to unite rather than to have any form of lyrical confrontation.

Efforts by THE WEEKEND STAR to talk to Khago yesterday were unsuccessful.

A Jamaica Labour Party politician has been charged with buggery.
Police report that the politician and another man held down a man at his St Andrew residence and sodomised him. The injured man reportedly made a report to the Centre for the Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA) and was examined by a medical doctor.
The doctor reportedly found that the male victim had signs of sexual trauma and filed a report with the police.
The politician was questioned by CISOCA detectives and is still in custody along with the other accused man.

BRUCE HOW DID THIS HAPPEN IN URE CABINET????

**************UPDATED***************

Yesterday, the police listed Garnett Reid of a Chancery Hall, Kingston 19 address as a wanted person who must immediately report to any police station. They say Reid is wanted by the Police for questioning in connection with a sexual offence, which is alleged to have been committed last Thursday. Contacted this morning, Reid said he would be complying with the police.
Meanwhile, the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) General Secretary, Senator Aundre Franklin says the Party is deeply disturbed by the allegations against Reid.

Wise Intelligent from the legendary Poor Righteous Teachers breaks down the lyrics to his new song "Illuminati" and defends Jay-Z and Kanye West from allegations that they are members of the shadowy secret society. Song and editorial are below.

While I'm aware of the many informative literary works being published by some great men and giants in our community on the subject of Hip Hop and the Illuminati this song, its lyrics, nor this blog are intended to prove or disprove any of what has been written, published and or lectured about concerning this subject. Rather, to interpret the lyrics to my work and direct our attention to the root cause(ers) of current world dilemmas. Below are the lyrics and a verse by verse overview of the works aim.

VS 1

Lucifer Son of the morning, shalom, good day good morning
All of the livin are mourning, he affixes sixes on them
But didnt the scripture warn them? delivered the revelations?
Still they debatin Satan's use of major corporations

I didn't intend on putting a song that addressed the subject of the Illuminati on this latest album. However, the producer Masada submitted the track right when we had just wrapped up the record. I mean we were about to master the project. I heard the track, and completed the song the day I heard it. I laid it and we mixed it. As, anyone familiar with Poor Righteous Teachers should know, the groups 1996 album was called The New World Order and the inside cover album art displayed several books pertaining to the Illuminati and the lore surrounding it. The intent of this recording was to simply take the Illuminati out of the boogieman realm and demonstrate how its apparatus functions in our daily lives in plain view. I often say that the illuminati, like the freemasons ARE NOT necessarily secret societies rather they are a society of secrets.

Remember the plantation, remember the black enslavement
Remember the soul debasin, globe defacin, hidden persuaders
Remember your colonization, colonial education
Ignorance and ni**er sh*t, we get from the radio station

The rhyme points out well known historical events that effected and in many ways changed the world like the enslavement of Africans and the colonization of the continent. The point being that the Illuminati represents the wealthy globe holders who were and still are responsible for initiating and financing some of historys  most notable experiences. The rhyme goes on to express how mainstream media is very well managed and controlled with the function of controlling public opinion and mobilizing the poor and laboring masses to behave as the wealthy less than one percent of the populace would have them do.

Performers are getting younger, the dresses are getting shorter
Its funny how these pedophiles market your sons and daughters
Target and breech your borders, kidnap your seeds deport them
Transport them over overseas where devils fiend auction and bought them

The above four measures of the song deal with the international trafficking of children as sex slaves to the wealthy and in many cases involving United Nations soldiers, as well as politicians from all over the world. A couple of years ago we learned that a United Nations ship was used to transport young girls from India to islands where they were then sold as prostitutes. These are not isolated instances of child kidnapping and abuse. This happens by design and is linked to major politicians, kings and sultans. Remember the Lincoln, NE. child prostitution ring that was traced all the way to the Reagan/Bush White House?

In ayiti someone caught them, if these are the seeds we lost them
Tossed them to hell they fell for what his system taught them
Gimme a minute to prove this, call it conspiracy theory
You never knew what the truth is, be sure that my enemy hear me

VS 2
All of this talk about Jay Z, being Illuminati
Or whether they got to Kanye, or whether or not they both gay?
This is irrelevant subtext call it celebrity gossip
Your taking it out of the context of Lucifer's pertinent subjects

The point here is to say that if our focus is on Jay Z and Kanye West as Illuminati we do not understand and have missed the most fundamental function of the machine world domination. The capping stone on the pyramid on the back of the dollar bill was set in place nearly one hundred years ago in 1913 with the establishing of the Federal Reserve Bank, thus centralizing the countrys economy. These corporation founders/owners enslaved Africans, killed off Native Americans, bankrolled pirate ships, insured slave ships, created eugenics programs, designed, staged marketed and promoted World Wars I, II, and the Vietnam War before Kool Herc said it was Hip and we started to Hop.

What is the criteria for a rapper being Illuminati? He sold a lot of records? P.E. did that! So did the Fugees and Lauryn Hill and Tribe Called Quest and Arrested Development? What would be the rappers purpose as a card-carrying member of the Illuminati to mislead his fans? If so, we can include every well intended grammar school teacher,  pastor, minster, etc. for disseminating misleading information to their students daily to make their daily bread some unaware and some well aware. Cant be the subject matter of the records or we would have to include rappers like Kool G. Rap, Too Short, Ice Cube, NWA, Tupac, Biggie, and a plethora of others who in my humble opinion are simply poor kids from some ghetto attempting to play the best hand of spades they can with the cards they were dealt! How they interpret the struggle in which theyre embedded notwithstanding.

We live in the projects, we descend from slaves
A lot of us dont even got %&%*, and do anything to get paid
Who Jigga that ni**a aint Satan, and West just hood at best
And If they homo, I do not know and I could care less

Nahh they aint theBilderbergers, nahh they aint the Rothschilds?
Thats right they da Rockefellers, nahh thats just dem ni**as style
Illuminati sellin' your mind soul and body
and they aint ever need no rappers to accomplish that

Rappers, be they mainstream, underground, conscious or gangster, are not responsible for engineering much other than music. However, the wealthy members of this body we call the Illuminati are publicly known to the world as social engineers. They have masked their dirty doings in the vision impairing art of philanthropy. They are the subjects of Proverbs 17:23 which says A wicked [man] taketh a gift out of the bosom to pervert the ways of judgment. Again, the rapper by my assessment is at best, guilty of accepting the gift of misfortune and fame to not use his platform to confront this beast at least sometimes.

rhythm I ride on top of that, given you the truth so copy that
soon the e-conomy collapse, great tribulation after that
skull and cross bone pirate hats, British west indies company cats
we call that Steve Cokely raps, illuminati coming but Ill be back

Jay Z, West nor any other rapper will be responsible for the collapsing of Americas economy or any other economy in the world. These grapes of wrath had been sown before Hip Hop was pushed out of the womb of black musics blues.

VS 3
Before they collapse the market, theyre criminalizing farming
they're silencing you for talking, while turnin us all into peasants
Agricultural patents ConAgra created the famines
Monsantos seeds that terminate the natural birthing action

The above four measures are intended to address the Orwellian type reality in which we now find ourselves. Wherein, scientists of all fields are being bankrolled by major corporations, philanthropic foundations, and so-called social engineers like the real Rockefellers to use their talents NOT to sustain and preserve human life. Rather to reduce it via man-made famine, weapons of mass destruction, global sterilization initiatives, etc.

Controlling the food supply, choosing who should live or die
Confusion rules you choose the lie, illusion illuminates your mind
These are the last times, spend them getting organized
Victory be with the strongest tribe, the ones that forge the tightest ties

The light is ours, theyre the sons of darkness in disguise
Edoms fall is Jacobs rise, so the prophets prophesied
Cecil Rhodes mining more than just De-beers
Were rewinding through the years but you would rather drink da beers

John Cecil Rhodes in his Confessions of Faith laid out his life, and after death, mission and goal when he said why not have a secret society with one purpose but to see that his race rules forever. He discussed taking over Africa, enslaving and exterminating the population on the continent (what part of that has not been done or isnt progress? And how much of it was done by or because of rappers?). He spoke of Africa without Africans, meaning more land to produce more of what he called the most superior race the Anglo-Saxon.

While your peers disappear, off the corner every year
Prison population risin abortion clinics everywhere
Truth is they dont want us here, theres no cotton left to pick
Physical labor is redundant, secret shifts in politics

In the event, Jay Z, Kanye West, the Illuminati Princess Rihanna (LOL), or any other financially well-to-do rapper, athlete, talk show host (Oprah included) is caught going across the border with kilos of illegal drugs, weapons, or underage children smuggled out of some Third World country their asses are going directly to jail and will not be collecting $200 for passing go! They do not control, have membership in, or find favor from this monopolizing oligarchy. They are used by it at best!!!

Listen, rappers who promote and or perpetuate racist and or offensive stereotypes should be held responsible. However, they are not on the same level as the people and the system that funds apartheid schooling, controls, regulates, and collapses economies, concentrates poverty into hyper-segregated ghettos, discriminates against black farmers, starts eugenics programs, denies you and destroys the health care system, lies to start wars, let us drown in Katrina, started blockbusting, redlining, and white flight, closes down libraries (in urban areas), stopped after school programs, environmental racism: high levels of manganese and lead in predominantly black communities, monopolizes the media, started global warming, imports and exports drugs, imports and exports children in sex rings, maintains Guantanamo Bay and Abu Ghraib, funds the prison industrial complex, let pedophiles priests run rampant in and out of the Vatican, and uses the IMF and World Bank to destroy and destabilize countries through debt manipulation. Rappers, are for the most part symptoms of the aforementioned problems and by no means represent the causative factors in this reality.

Jay Z might have been on and owned Rocafella records but he didn't write and enforce the racist Rockefeller Drug Laws. It's time to take our focus off the puppets and redirect it onto the puppet masters. This approach will serve us well in our effort to raise the peoples awareness of this system of oppression that is so subtle it provokes neither rebellion or escape. Then maybe, some upcoming rappers of tomorrow will be able to see the big picture that many of their peers fail to see (and some pretend not to see) for poverty and want of all things.

Gyptian is certainly not amused at the report that his song was the most complained about item in the broadcasting industry in Jamaica for 2010. There have been word about that Gyptian is getting a fight and it has become clear with this publication from the Broadcasting Commission that due to the popular song "Hold Yuh"...he is very much a target.
Gyptian in his defence indicated that the song has nothing to do with what people think, the song is not sexually suggestive. Gyptian further indicated that he dont want the wrong interpretation to be out there and to be misleading the people. The word is H O L D ..not hole.. he dint say tightest hole... its Tightest Hold...in my life.

allen_stanford2450x350.jpgHOUSTON, Texas Texas billionaire banker Allen Stanford, accused of masterminding a US$7.2 billion Ponzi scheme, involving his Antigua-owned Stanford International Bank (SIB), is suing United States government agents who built the case against him for a similar amount.

The suit, filed in federal district court here says the agents including federal prosecutors, FBI agents and regional officials of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) conspired to deprive Stanford of his constitutional rights.

The lawsuit says the agents violated Stanford's rights to due process and effective counsel, as well as constitutional prohibitions against unreasonable search and seizure and excessive fines.

Mr. Stanford alleges that agents of the United States, known and unknown, combined, agreed and conspired to deprive Mr. Stanford of his civil rights by and through tactics taken under the color of law, but which violate basic constitutional principles, the complaint said.

The SEC sued Stanford on February 16, 2009, and won a court order freezing his assets and placing his companies in receivership.

The Justice Department followed in June with a 21-count criminal indictment. As a result, Stanford turned himself in to authorities. He has been held without bail ever since, with a judge ruling he is a flight risk.

In September, 2009, Stanford was severely beaten by another inmate at the privately run federal detention center where he was being held.

He underwent surgery, but the lawsuit says authorities ignored a hospital physician's recommendation that he be given an MRI.

The lawsuit claims Stanford was rendered incompetent due to untreated traumatic brain injuries, as well as being overmedicated by government doctors over a 13-month period.

Stanford alleges in the lawsuit that the government's misconduct did not begin with his treatment behind bars.

It says the SEC and the court-appointed receiver effectively began prosecuting Stanford long before he was ever charged criminally, working in concert with Justice Department officials.

The suit claims Stanford was unable to defend himself because his assets were already frozen, and the government had taken ownership of a liability insurance policy that could have paid for his defense.

In addition, the suit says the agents used Stanford's own assets to fund the case, rather than preserving the assets for investors.

The Securities and Exchange Commission declined to comment on the suit, and a Justice Department spokeswoman had no immediate comment, citing a gag order in Stanford's criminal case.

The jailed financier is accusing federal agents of using more than US$51 million of his own seized money to pay for their investigation.

By subjecting Mr. Stanford to multiple prosecutions for the same offense, defendants have deprived him of his liberty and property, the lawsuit claimed. (CMC)

Who is Spoogy?

Who the hell is Spoogy and Jah Blaze?

A male student from a high school in Manchester was reportedly beaten by his male friends at the school after he and a female schoolmate were reportedly caught having oral sex inside a classroom.

THE STAR was informed that the incident took place last Wednesday and has since become the talk of the town.

"Me get a likkle news that dem ketch two likkle pickney inna the classroom a sex ... dem seh a all the while dem do it," a resident from the parish told THE STAR.

Another resident who claimed to have heard about the incident explained to THE STAR that, "him and the girl did a do it ... but you know seh man bun dem thing deh," which resulted in the boy being assaulted.

When contacted, the vice-principal of the school in question was tight-lipped about the matter and offered only a brief statement. "From time to time, the students say things but I don't want to comment sir," she remarked.

The Area Three police confirmed that they were aware of an incident at the school but emphasised that an investigation would have to be conducted.

christina-aguilera-matt-rutler.jpg

Christina Aguilera's public woes continued early Tuesday morning (March 1), when the singer was arrested in Los Angeles on a misdemeanor charge of public intoxication after police pulled over her boyfriend on suspicion of driving under the influence.

A spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's department confirmed that officers observed Aguilera's 25-year-old boyfriend Matthew Rutler driving in a manner that made them believe he was under the influence at around 2:45 a.m. on Tuesday. Aguilera was a passenger in the vehicle, and sheriff's department spokesperson Nicole Nishida said that the 30-year-old singer was "so intoxicated she couldn't take care of herself" and was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of suspicion of public drunkenness.

Aguilera was booked into the West Hollywood sheriff's station and released on $250 bail. A spokesperson for the singer could not be reached for comment at press time. An arrest report stated that Rutler was also booked on a misdemeanor charge of suspicion of driving under the influence at the West Hollywood station just before 3 a.m., with bail set at $30,000. It was not known at press time if Rutler had been released on bail.

An anonymous source told TMZ that if "the driver had NOT been arrested for DUI, [Christina] would have never been in trouble." Another unnamed source allegedly close to the singer told the site that her confidants have been trying to get the performer into a rehab facility for several weeks.

Aguilera's personal life and career have been on a slide over the past year, beginning with the flop of her Bionic album, which has sold only 250,000 copies in the U.S. to date. That was followed by a hastily canceled U.S. tour, the disappointing returns for her big-screen debut in "Burlesque" and her divorce from husband Jordan Bratman.

Those incidents were followed by her infamous flubbing of the national anthem at February's Super Bowl and a stumble on the Grammys stage a week later, amid tabloid reports that her partying had gotten out of hand.

noose.jpg?width=295A Jamaican-born man, whod reportedly tried to commit suicide twice before, took his life in a cell at a police station in Antigua over the weekend as officers stood a stones throw away unaware of what was taking place.

Dwayne Davis, a 26-year-old father of one, was found hanging on Saturday morning. He had turned himself in at the Grays Farm Police Station that day after an in-law reported to police that he had threatened her.

In a statement outlining the circumstances surrounding his death, police said when the man arrived at the station he saw his wife in the waiting area and became angry, speaking to officers in a loud and aggressive manner.

The lawmen and his wife tried to calm him down, according to the police account, but he only got more agitated and disorderly.

Hence, he was subsequently arrested on suspicion of the report that was made against him and placed in the cell, until he was calmed down. While inside the cell, Mr. Davis continued to shout intermittently. His voice could be heard at the guard desk and the waiting area, the statement said.

But when Davis got quiet, the officers on duty went to check on him and found him hanging from the cell door with a pair of shoe laces tied around his neck. He had no pulse and didnt appear to be breathing.

The statement said that Police Commissioner Vere Brown, Deputy Commissioner Henry Christian, Superintendent Ivor David and other senior officers then rushed to the scene and a doctor was summoned.

However, by the time they arrived, Davis was already dead.

Police said investigations into the matter are ongoing.

According to reports in The Daily Observer, Davis was despondent and started to abuse alcohol after being unable to find a job.

His wife Nickey, with whom he had a five-year-old daughter, told the newspaper that he had tried to take his life, by overdosing on pills, on two previous occasions.

She said, though, that he was scheduled to start a job at a security firm today.

Dudus.jpg?width=360

According to Jamaicas Deputy Solicitor General, Lackston Robinson, alleged Jamaican crime lord Christopher 'Dudus' Cokes constitutional rights were breached during the extradition process.

Robinson made this statement during the Manatt-Dudus commission of enquiry. The point man in the Solictor Generalss Office on the Dudus matter alos asserted that the information from the intercepted communication involving Coke was unlawfully obtained.

He says Section 22 of the Constitution addresses the right of Jamaicans to private conversation.

According to Robinson, that right is not absolute, but the Interception of Communication Act sets out how conversations may be tapped.

He says only the Police Commissioner; the police officer in charge of internal security or the national firearms unit; the army chief and the Head of Military Intelligence Unit are empowered to apply for intercepted communication.

Robinson also says the order can only be issued by a Supreme Court judge citing that the law also stipulates who the data can be disclosed to and that any disclosure to any other person would be unlawful.

As a result Robinson says the policeman who intercepted the call and shared it with the US authorities was in breach of the law.

Robinson also told the enquiry that he had expressed concern about the quality of the evidence contained in the extradition request.

He says he was not satisfied that the affidavits from the US authorities enabled the justice minister Dorothy Lightbourne to execute her professional responsibilities.

Under cross examination from PNP attorney Leonard Green, Robinson said he gave that opinion to the solicitor general but not an advice.

Green later asked Robinson whether Christopher Coke was wrongfully extradited.

Robinson refused to answer but maintained that the wiretapping data should not have been shared with the United States.

A Jamaican law student called for a Revolution in Jamaica of the likes of what is currently sweeping countries in Northern Africa and the Middle East.

Ramsay posted his open letter on Facebook and as you can imagine this has caused quite a stir.

The letter entitled, Our Revolution is Coming received over 100 comments.

Social media was used and widely credited for mobilizing and organizing citizens in Tunisia, Egypt and other middle eastern and African countries. Ramsay is obviously hoping for this kind of movement and uprising in Jamaica.

Clearly Ramsay is no fan of either of the two parties: the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) and the opposition Peoples National Party (PNP). Calling both parties, the JLPNP, he bashes them both while using what can be described as strong language to describe them as scandal ridden and as entities, which treat the Jamaican people with contempt.

Ramsay starts the letter by recounting the 1958 city council elections in Sao Paola where a rhinoceros named Cacareco received 100,000 votes because local residents were upset with the political system, which existed.

Using Minister of National Security Dwight Nelsons now famous line of I do not recall at the Manatt-Dudus inquiry he launched a broadside against the two parties, who he says, have forgotten the scandals, which they have been involved in from the 1970s to today.

He says that Jamaicans across all social and socio-economic levels should have a stake in the revolution, and like the citizens in Sao Paola take a stand.

Ramsay, who says he is a Christian says he has never voted, said that most of the persons in political positions now are not prepared for the leadership positions that they take up.

He believes that Jamaicans have always been ready for revolution.

We were fooled into thinking that the JLPNP offered choice when all they did was reshuffle candidates, he said.

Ramsay has not ruled out any path to instituting revolution in Jamaica.

There are many routes to achieving this revolution, and general elections is one of them. None of them will be easy though. True change can be achieved when we realise our potential and rally together. It will happen.

Ramsay also said he was not afraid of what could happen to him following his call for fundamental and structural change in Jamaicas political system.

People will be surprised because they expect I will be killed. However, I believe if you die for a cause it was your purpose to die. They cannot kill all of us, he said.

Jamaica which gained independence from the British in 1962 is a parliamentary democracy and constitutional monarchy. The Parliament of Jamaica is bicameral, consisting of the House of Representatives and the Senate. Members of the House who are known as Members of Parliament are directly elected. Senators are jointly nominated by the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition.

The Jamaica Labour Party is currently in power after winning the general elections in 2007. The opposition Peoples National Party was in power for 18 years. The next general elections are constitutionally due in 2012. , he said.

Ramsay has not ruled out any path to instituting revolution in Jamaica.

Shawn Storm Wanted ..re Robbery!!

There are reports indicating that Portmore Empire right hand man.. Shawn Storm is wanted by the authorities as a person of interest in an alleged robbery over the weekend. Details are sketchy but its alleged that a group of men which included storm were on their way to Follow the arrow show in St. Mary on sunday morning, took time out to execute what is being described as a robbery in St Andrew. The cops are asking Shawn Storm to turn himself in asap.
Bounty Killer doing his set at follow the arrow..when the no-good suckers started throwing bottles at him on stage ..it starts at about 4:20.. Bounty going into one of his regular lectures about 'righteousness' and indicating that the news paper should have never diss him by saying that he will be having a showdown with Vybz Kartel.."Mi and Kartel can have show down?..how big big giant fi have show down with kartel"... and thats when the bottles started raining in...
Already it has been alleged that it was Kartel's fanatics or Kartel himself was behind this.. there is no proof of this at this point..
check out the video ..that action starts @ 4:20...the slowed it down for better viewing at the end... smfh

A church in a St Andrew community was the scene of a confrontation recently between several church members and a deaconess who accused them of using obeah to kill her child.

"I heard that she box di deacon and beat up anybody else who she could reach. She was acting mad, so they had to call the police," a church sister said.

THE STAR understands that the death of the child reportedly had a serious effect on the deaconess. It is said that she was convinced of the use of obeah because her baby, who died during a miscarriage, was reported to have had some weird features.

So during morning service sometime after her loss, the deaconess decided to express her anger.

"She wasn't afraid to talk about her miscarriage because I heard she had put it on the Internet. She had several miscarriages and when she lost the baby, I heard she was about eight months pregnant," the church sister further reasoned.

cursing expletives

Another woman from the community told THE STAR that on the day of the incident the deaconess lost her cool in the service and began cursing expletives. "She said a people kill her baby because dem jealous of her husband because him look good and rumours have been circulating that somebody gave her obeah ackee to eat," the source said.

The woman further stated that; "I heard that people from the church put obeah oil at her door front with parchment paper with some names on it and the mother burn it and from that incident she has been acting a little kinky."

It is said that the church members had to hold her and calm her down. "... Di police did come because she was out of control. Mi hear seh she box one of the deacons of the church in his face and tell him some bad words. She was a deaconess in the church and she used to read the Bible every Sunday, if she nuh read the Bible, Bible nuh read; but she nuh go there anymore."

In the meantime, efforts made by THE STAR to confirm the incident with the police in the community proved futile

Police last night confirmed that deejay Shawn Storm is a person of interest and is wanted in connection with a robbery incident in St Andrew.

Police said the deejay is being asked to turn himself over to the St Andrew North police or any police station as soon as possible.

Contacted last night, Crime Chief for the St Andrew North Division, Deputy Superintendent Altemorth 'Para' Campbell, was tightlipped about the allegations.

Pressed further Campbell would only reveal that the incident reportedly occurred while Storm and a group of men were allegedly en route from the Follow Di Arrow stage show on Sunday morning.

"He is being asked to turn himself in," he said. "We need to speak with him as soon as possible."

US builds undersea highway from Florida to Haiti

Did the construction of an undersea highway from Florida to Haiti, which started construction mid 2009, trigger off the devastating magnitude 7. earthquake that hit Haiti on January 12, 2010?

"a devastating 7M earthquake struck on January 12 at 1653 local time (2153 GMT). The massive tremor's epicenter was approximately 10 miles southwest from the capital, Port-au-Prince, and at a depth of 6.2 miles˛ and is the most powerful to hit in 200 years.

Chaos and fear on this island nation is tangible. Haiti's President has appealed for international aid after dozens of aftershocks have ensued, stating that: "Parliament has collapsed. The tax office has collapsed. Schools have collapsed. Hospitals have collapsed."

The Florida Haiti Interstate Tunnel, I-95U or Caribbean International Highway Route 1 is an under construction underwater highway tunnel spanning from southern Florida, outside of Miami to northern Haiti, the city of Cap-Haitien.

The tunnel began construction in mid 2009, so far spanning 100 miles in length at the sea floor. The tunnel itself is expected completion by early 2011 with addition work completing by late 2011, spanning a total of 600 miles. The Caribbean International Highway construction was featured on Discovery ChannelsExtreme Engineering documentary series.

I-95U

The Union of Everett interstate route number assigned to the tunnel is I-95U standing for Interstate 95 Underwater.

I-95U will feature a rest stop every 50 miles containing fuel stations, food, restrooms and fire/medical/police centers.

Everetti police stations will be located every hundred miles which would be used to respond to car accidents and other incidents. Fire/rescue and EMS stations will be located every 50 miles at each rest stop.

I-95U will have a speed limit of 75 miles per hour, which will be enforced electronically rather than have police patrols. The tunnel will have three lanes of traffic for both the west bound and east bound sides, totalling six lanes.

In addition to the road for cars, there will be three railroad lines, two of which are regular train lines and one will be part of the Maglev system as the Caribbean International Highway Line also called the I-95 Line.

I-95U is a concept tunnel as part of a global architecture test for a plan for a global highway that spans the Earth, originally conceived in the 1990s. If the 600 miles tunnel succeeds, it may lead to the planning stages of the global highway system.

Construction

Currently, 110 miles of the CIH-1 tunnel have been completed, spanning from Miami, Florida to the CIH-1/CIH-2 Interchange point. Construction involves the use of a massive crane barge which carries each of the 660 foot long sections of tunnel and lowers them into the water where they will be locked and sealed in place.

Each tunnel section is 660 feet long, 140 feet wide and 25 feet tall, totalling 4,800 tunnel sections to be placed under the water. There are currently four barges working, each carrying two tunnel sections. A total of eight sections are laid a day, totalling one mile in distance added to the tunnel every 24 hours. Tunnel sections are produced and constructed on land in large warehouses.

Caribbean International Highway

The Caribbean International Highway is a proposed CARICOM plan to create an underwater tunnel highway connecting several Caribbean nations with road routes. CIH-1 is already under construction, the I-95U tunnel stretching from Florida to Haiti. Additional tunnels will connect between nations such as CIH-2, connecting Cuba to I-95U and CIH-3, connecting the Bahamas main island and capitol, Nassau, to the I-95U tunnel. Other routes, CIH-4 will connect Puerto Rico to the Dominican Republic and CIH-5 connecting Haiti to Jamaica with a stop at the U.S. Navassa Islands.

Venezeula

A part of the CIH proposal is in agreement with Everett's peace treaty with Venezuela. To aid in trade between all Caribbean nations, Venezuela wants a connection to the tunnel system.

Everett though did not want to disturb all of the smaller islands along the way, which may damage their ecosystems and clear waters and beaches.

A proposed tunnel addition, named CIH-6 would run from Puerto Rico, passing through the Virgin Islands and follow south through all of the smaller Caribbean nations, passing through St. Kitts & Nevis, Montserrat, Guadeloupe, Dominica, Martinique, St. Lucia, St. Vincent & The Grenadines and Grenada into Venezuela.

This remains in discussion but would open up trade and tourism for all the affected islands and nations along the tunnel route.

AS she heads slowly towards her brightly decorated, all-pink bedroom, Ashanti Smith turns and smiles at her mum with every step.

Just like any eight-year-old, getting her to stick to her bedtime is a huge struggle.

But for mum Phoebe, it is harder than most.

Frail ... brave Ashanti weighs just 1st 13lb
Frail ... brave Ashanti weighs just 1st 13lb

Ashanti is trapped inside a body "aged" like that of an 80-year-old woman, so every step takes its toll on her wellbeing - and every second spent with Mum is precious.

The brave little girl has an extraordinarily rare ageing disease.

The condition - Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria Syndrome (HGP) - was diagnosed just weeks before her first birthday.

Lively Ashanti has the mind of a typical primary school pupil.

She loves listening to JLS and playing with her friends in the playground.

But she weighs just 1st 13lb and is dwarfed by her five-year-old sister Brandilouise.

And the disease has ravaged her limbs and joints so she finds walking long distances extremely painful.

Despite this, her local NHS care trust refused to fund a new Ł6,000 adapted electric wheelchair because she "was not disabled enough".

But last night The Sun stepped in to buy Ashanti the latest model - just like the one she is seen sitting in on the right.

Ashanti often finds herself short of breath because of her weak limbs and other effects of the condition, which eventually causes severe hardening of the arteries and poor circulation.

Fortunately, a pioneering twice-yearly treatment in Marseilles, France - administered as part of an ongoing drug trial - has prevented artery damage for the moment.

But doctors admit they do not know how the disease will affect Ashanti's circulatory system in the future.

When the youngster was around a year old, her hair fell out.

Now she plaits little sister Brandilouise's locks every day to help out at the family home in Burgess Hill, West Sussex.

Full-time mum Phoebe, 25, had asked health bosses to pay for a new wheelchair but they refused.

Recently, she has been moving Ashanti around in a child's buggy when she gets exhausted.

Fun-loving ... Ashanti's an 'incredible, loving person' says mum Phoebe
Fun-loving ... Ashanti's an 'incredible, loving person' says mum Phoebe

She also tried to raise funds locally with the help of friend Rebecca Senger, 23, to buy a wheelchair privately before The Sun came to the rescue.

HGP is an incredibly rare, incurable genetic condition.

There are only a handful of sufferers worldwide and Ashanti is one of two in the UK. It occurs in just one out of four million newborns globally.

HGP does not affect brain development but rapid ageing of the arteries leads to early death.

Most sufferers do not reach their 15th birthday because of the damaging impact the disease has on arteries and heart health.

It took doctors a year to diagnose the disease after Ashanti's birth because it is so rare.

Ashanti attends Manor Field School, a mainstream primary.

She has just one annual health check at London's Great Ormond Street Hospital For Children.

Twice a year she visits the Marseilles clinic for the drug therapy, given via a drip, which is intended to slow the disease's effect on her arteries.

Phoebe said: "Ashanti looks frail and, while she may be on the inside, she is a powerful and determined young lady who won't let anything get in her way.

"When she was born she looked absolutely perfect. She had big, beautiful blue eyes and a little button nose.

"The midwife handed her to me and called her 'Precious' and that's how she got her middle name.

"I thought she was absolutely perfect and didn't have an idea that anything was wrong until she was around three weeks old and went for some checks.

"Suddenly, she started jerking. I thought something must have just startled her but the midwife advised me to take her to hospital for checks. They came back clear.

"Then, at six months old, she stopped feeding. No doctor could find out what the matter was. She was tiny, and so scrawny. She wouldn't put any weight on. Then she started losing her hair.

"Eventually, just a few weeks before her first birthday, she was under the care of a consultant at Great Ormond Street Hospital called Professor Harper.

"He was puzzled at first, then he came to me one day and said, 'I'm 90 per cent certain that Ashanti has a condition called Progeria.'

"I was torn in two when I discovered what it meant.

"I had never heard of it and, on one hand, I was glad the doctors seemed to have finally got to the bottom of her problems.

"But when I found what it was doing to the inside of her body, I couldn't come to terms with it.

"The pain she would suffer, the fact that inside her organs were ageing so rapidly... I couldn't believe it.

"To me she was my perfect little girl, perfect in every way."

But Ashanti refused to give up.

Phoebe continued: "As she has grown up, she has never let anything get her down or stop her in any way.

"She is very frail and her hands are very weak. Her veins show all through her body, she has arthritis in her knees and she is very thin, no matter how much she eats.

"Her legs are extremely skinny and her feet too are very bony.

"She tires very easily too - just after climbing 12 stairs or walking down the street. I often have to pick her up and carry her.

"Her limbs and joints ache but she doesn't complain - she just gets on with life and does her best."

Ashanti also has just one layer of skin for every eight on a child without the condition.

Phoebe said: "This makes it very sensitive and prone to cuts and bruises. But she is forever climbing over things and playing with her sister and friends at school.

"Her teeth are also very delicate and she has to be careful when she is eating. But she has fantastic eyesight and is very sharp and alert. She does not miss a thing and keeps us all on our toes.

"She calls Brandilouise her 'big little sister'. Brandilouise is five, but three times her size.

"Ashanti is just like any other little girl of her age. She adores pop groups, especially JLS. She is feisty and just wants to get on with her life."

Sadly, passers-by often stare at her in the street.

Phoebe added: "A lot of people think she has leukaemia, and has undergone chemotherapy treatment, because of her hair loss.

"If they ask, I tell them about her condition but for much of the time people in the street just stare or say things under their breath.

"That kind of behaviour really gives me the hump, because she is my daughter and has feelings like anyone else.

"My daughter may look different but she is an incredible, loving person.

"We face life together and take each day at a time, and I know I am blessed to have such a wonderful little girl."

When asked about Ashanti's wheelchair application, Sussex Community NHS Trust executive director of operations Andrew Harrington said: "We supplied Ashanti with a buggy last year after we assessed this as being best for her needs.

"We advised her parents that they could contact us at any time for a review."

The divas duked it out on Friday night as Ciara and Rihanna got into a feisty Twitter exchange that had the Internet buzzing.

CiCi appeared as a guest judge on E!s Fashion Police earlier in the evening. When a photo of Rihanna at the BRIT Awards was shown on screen, she commented, I ran into her recently at a party and she wasnt the nicest and its crazy because Ive always loved and respected what shes done with fashion. Ive ran into her before, but this time it wasnt the most pleasant run-in.

Host Joan Rivers chimed in by saying, A b****! before Ciara told her with a laugh, You crazy.

Rihanna was tuned in to the television because she responded on Twitter shortly after the episode aired. My bad ci, did I 4get to tip u? #howrudeofme, she wrote before Ciara shot back, Trust me Rhianna u dont want to see me on or off the stage.

U gangsta huh? Haaa, laughed the S&M singer. Good luck with bookin that stage u speak of.

But the ladies settled their differences soon after. Ciara baby, I love u girl! U hurt my feelings real bad on TV! Im heartbroken! Thats y I retaliated this way! So sorry! #letsmakeup, said RiRi.

Ciara agreed to put it behind them, telling her peer, Rhi u know its always been love since day 1! Doing shows/everything. you threw me off in that party! Apology accepted. Lets chat in person.

Unruly show goers pelted the stage with bottles Sunday morning, bringing a premature end to the Follow The Arrow stage show at James Bond Beach in Oracabessa, St Mary, about three minutes after Bounty Killer took the stage.

The melee prevented two of the nights top acts, Vybz Kartel and Mavado from performing, but not before rising reggae star I-Octane delivered a scintillating performance. The chain of events actually started backstage when it is alleged Bounty Killer got involved in an altercation, forcing MC Ragashanti to urge him (over the microphone) to cool it.

When Killer eventually took the stage at 5:25 a.m. he proceeded to recognise Black History month by paying tribute to some prominent black persons, including National Heroes Nanny and Marcus Garvey and his dancehall protégé Mavado.

He then referred to what he said was news being circulated that he was going to clash with Kartel by questioning: How mi an Kartel fi have showdown? Mi a giant.!

But that apparently incensed supporters of Kartel who started hurling bottles, forcing patrons to scamper for cover, with hundreds of them heading for the exit and others for the beach area.

After a few minutes the crowd reassembled, hoping to have a restart. But, after a few seconds of activity on stage, bottles again rained and the crowd again dispersed.

A third attempt was made to restart the show, this time by Kartel and some members of his Portmore Empire crew who appeared on stage in an attempt to calm the crowd. But, it was not to be as this time, patrons who appeared to be supporters of Bounty Killer, took matters into their own hands and pelted the stage with bottles. This forced Kartel and his crew to make a hasty retreat.
That effectively ended the show, minutes before six.

However, among those acts which stood out at the event prior to its demise were: Coco T, Josie Wales, Louie Culture, Twin of Twins, Hero and P-Zed, Gyptian, Assassin and Anthony B, who used his limited time very wisely.

There is some EXTREMELY serious friction between Young Money superstar rapper Drake and Lil Wayne.

Here's the info we got, from a MEMBER OF YOUNG MONEY. There's been growing FRICTION between Drake and Lil Wayne, and last Saturday night - it BLEW UP!!!

The insider explains, [Mack Maine and Baby] set it up so that Saturday would be Wayne's coming out party. But he didn't want to do it. . . Wayne has some bad feelings with Drake, he feels that Drake left him out there while we was [locked up]. So Wayne didn't want to do the concert."

But Bryan "Birdman" Williams managed to convince Weezy to fly to Vegas for the concert. And while things looked OK on stage, they were TERRIBLE off. Our insider explained, "Wayne didn't even say a word to Drake until that point . . . but after the concert, he disciplined him." What does that mean. Well, allegedly [cause we aint trying to get him violated] Wayne walked over to Drake and punched him in his face. Security reportedly BROKE IT UP and escorted Wayne off the property.

Later on that night, Lil Wayne supposedly tried to meet up with Drake again, at the concert afterparty at the nearby Wynn. But security for the Wynn were told NOT to allow Wayne into the premises.

He later tweeted, "yes I bussed my ass tonight."

Soulchild is filling the slot left vacant by El Debarge on Kem's 'Intimacy Tour' which stops tonight in Atlantic City, New Jersey, then Richmond, Virginia tomorrow.

Despite having Vybz Kartel and his former mentor and rival Bounty Killer on the same event, promoter for Follow Di Arrow, Dexton Ennis, says it will not hinder the event's positive theme.

The buzz has begun around the event which will see its 11th staging this Saturday at James Bond Beach in Oracabessa, St Mary. Deejays Bounty Killer and Vybz Kartel will both be on the show, Bounty having been a long time staple at the event, while this will mark Kartel's second performance on the show since his split from the Bounty Killer-led Alliance in 2006.

The two deejays have long had unresolved issues between them and a recent performance at Club Ville at Margaritaville, Montego Bay, saw 'The Warlord' taking lyrical swipes at Kartel's 'skin bleaching' practices, leaving many believing that Follow Di Arrow will be seeing the two throwing a few lyrical shots.

However, as explained at the event's recent launch, Ennis is looking to keep his event on a positive note this year. The promoter explained that 'Follow Di Arrow' will be the first dancehall stage show for 2011 and hopes to set the trend for other shows through the 'Be Positive' theme under which the event is to be held.

lyrical blows

Ennis also told  that he has no fears that the two (artistes) would be throwing any lyrical blows, adamant that this will not be the case and that the two artistes will play by the rules. He said, "They're working at different times, like one or two hours apart. I will expect them to work with and adhere to the theme of 'Be Positive'. I have spoken to them and they're both big people so there's nothing else that I can do."

Under the theme, Ennis hopes to also tackle the lateness issue that has been plaguing events for quite some time. "We have set it up that the entertainers come out early, not the usual late thing. Everybody has their allotted time for their performance, not 10 minutes into someone else's. Keep it clean and positive and set the trend for the rest of the shows for the year," he said.

Ennis says he is asking dancehall fans to come out and support the show as they have put together 'recession friendly' prices of $1,200 presold, $1,500 at the gate and $2,000 for VIP tickets specifically with patrons in mind.

Part of being a fan of music is how good it feels when you discover a new band, singer or rapper that has potential talent.

23-year old Cait McMahan could be one to keep an eye on.

Cait is unique for a couple of reasons. One is she won two NCAA titles playing basketball for the University of Tennessee where she also made the Dean's list. If not for knee injuries, the 5'4 guard might be dropping 3 pointers right now instead of 16's.

Number 2 is the fact that Cait, who goes by Babi Mac is a white female rapper.

Aside from UK import Lady Sovereign several years ago we haven't seen one make much noise yet, so that lane is wide open.

Check her out and see what you think.

Halle Berrys estranged half-sister Renee is reaching out to the actress to let bygones be bygones after reading about Halles recent child custody battle. Halle Berrys 51 year-old sister is accusing the actress of disowning her family and claims to have last spoken to her famous sister five years ago. According to thedailymall.com, Renee, who is a food service worker from Alabama, is desperate to reconnect with her now famous sister, especially when she is going through such a difficult time in the courts with her babys father Gabriel Aubry. Renee is the daughter of Halles late African-American father Jerome and Edwina Taylor who broke up with him shortly before he started dating the actress mother Judith Hawkins.

Halle-Berry-Renee.jpg

Renee says that she remained very close to the future Hollywood star while they were growing up, despite cutting herself off from her father after the divorce.

Renee says: Im sad to say it seems like she does not want anything to do with us. I have not spoken to her in about five years.

I tried to contact her through her website, to congratulate her on her Oscar, but no one got back to me. We would love to meet Nahla. We are desperate to understand why Halle is so upset, why she feels she cannot be with us.

In interviews over the years, Halle has alleged her father was a violent alcoholic who beat her mother Judith in front of her and sister Heidi.

If taking away your kid's cellphone or other privileges doesn't work as punishment, a Tampa Bay, Fla. mom recommends public embar****ment.

Ronda Holder is forcing her 15-year-old son, James Mond III, to stand on a street corner with a sign around his neck that says: "I did four questions on my FCAT and said I wasn't going to do it...GPA 1.22...honk if I need education."

Holder says her son will appreciate it some day.

"He don't like it, and I'm probably the baddest parent in the world right now. But he'll be OK. In the long run, he'll thank me for it."

Holder said she wants other parents and kids to pay attention. So far, it's working; she says one man honked all the way around the corner.

You've just won a (possibly rigged) election what's next? How about cutting a rap album?

As he campaigned around Uganda the past few months, Yoweri Museveni showed he was in touch with the youth by performing folk chants behind the podium. These young people taught me about this 'rap', he told reporters. Well, I can even give you some rap myself. He rattled off ancient poems including "Naatema akati" (I cut a stick) and "Mp'enkoni" (Give me the stick). Such interesting lyrics, NewsFeed presumes.

But that was all it took. Local music producers spun the recordings of his performances and set them to hip-hop and dance beats. Before long, the svelte baritone voice of Museveni was blasting through speakers in clubs and heard on radio stations around the country.

The rhyme-spitting ruler is now considering dropping a full rap album. "I was very happy with the reaction of the youth because that means they are very thirsty for the music of their ancestors," he said. Though if the 67-year-old prez is looking for more smash hits, he might want to branch out on his subject matter. Folk tales aren't exactly what the kids want to hear these days.

If he does release a record, it's possible that Museveni will soon go from top of the polls to the top of the pops. And secretly NewsFeed is hoping this trend of politician-turned-musician will catch on. Can you even imagine Obama taking the stage at Lollapalooza?
