Firefox 3.0 is out

Firefox 3.0 is out, first mirrors & dead servers

After several beta releases and a planned bid for the Guinness Book of World Records, Firefox 3.0 has arrived. As of 1pm EDT Tuesday, users can download the latest version of the open-source browser, which includes an improved book marking system and drop-down search returns in the URL bar, among other features. Aesthetically, the browser is not drastically different from its predecessor. The forward and back buttons have been altered, while the browser buttons and window frames have also been redesigned to conform to the look of a users operating system, but not much else has changed. On the features front, the drop-down URL bardubbed the Awesome Baroffers suggestions of possible Web sites as you type your search query.

ffdownloadday.jpg

Version three offers a three-tier bookmarking system: bookmark stars allow for one-click favorites; bookmark tags allow you to add details to your favorites; and bookmark folders are saved searches that update when you add new items matching that search to your bookmarks, according to Mozilla. Download manager has also been revamped and now includes the ability to pause and resume downloads, search through downloaded files, obtain more detailed file information, and revisit the original download page. Firefox 3.0 also boasts improved color profiles, font and text rendering, and zooming capabilities, as well as malware and phishing protection, Mozilla said.

Version 3.0 is three years in the making. Mozilla released the first beta version of Firefox 3.0 in November 2007, with version two debuting a month later. Beta 3.0 version 3 arrived in February with major code rewrites of the page layout, graphics, and font engines and over 350 plugged memory leaks. Most recently, Mozilla on June 5 unveiled the second release candidate for Firefox 3 with several localization updates. That came a little over two weeks after RC1 was made available. When the download goes live on Tuesday, the clock will start ticking on Mozillas bid to break a Guinness world record for most downloads in a single day. Mozilla said last week on its blog that it has already received at least one million pledges from users who say they will download Firefox 3 on release day.

Here is a tutorial on how to hide files in Jpg's. Please note it isn't the most secure method but it's still cool to play with. A simple solution to make this more secure, is to use encryption on the RAR file when your create it, but thats not the point of this tutorial :) The idea is to show how files can be 'slammed' together, to stop the average PC user from finding them.

Step by Step Instructions

You will need the following..
  • Windows 2000 / XP (probably Vista, too!)
  • Basic Knowledge of the Command Prompt
  • Winrar
1. Gather your image and the files you wish to lodge into it. Here I have a meeting.txt which which I will slap inside my picture secret.jpg . put the files inside folder hidden (eg.) as shown below

2-23.png

2. Add the files you want to hide into a new RAR archive eg. meeting.rar

3-19.png

3. Open Command Prompt by typing cmd in RUN and type the following command (this is just example . comand depends on where you create the file)
>cd..
>cd..
>cd hidden
>copy /b secret.jpg + meeting.rar lizard.jpg where secret.jpg is the original picture, meeting.rar is the file to be hidden, and lizard.jpg is the file which contains both.
as shown below

4-20.png

4 . so the new picture lizard.jpg which contained the hidden file is created

6-18.png

When you view the picture you will see only the picture (not the hidden file). To see the the hidden file inside the picture change the file extension from .jpg to .rar and extract it.

You can use this method to hide some files from average user.

Darcia Baker, 21, an exotic dancer at the Silver Spoon Nightclub on Manchester Avenue, May Pen, Clarendon, was stabbed to death during a dispute with another dancer at the club, police said.

Baker, of Reagent Street, Kingston 14, was killed about 3:30 a.m. Saturday morning. Police have since charged a 16-year-old girl with the murder.

Reports are that Baker and the teen had an argument during which a piece of glass was used to stab Baker in the neck. She was taken to May Pen Hospital where she died.

Bad min'

When the STAR visited the nightclub one exotic dancer told us, "if dem did take her up and carry her a hospital same time after she get de stab she would not die but instead everybody just a look pan de gal pan de ground". She added, "Me caan believe seh dem have argument over who look better than who till one a dem dead."

Another dancer said, "That a nuh di first time dancer a stab dancer a May Pen, it happen almost every month because some gal bad min' and when them see some a we client dem want tek dem weh."

Police said the club's proprietor has been previously charged with employing underage girls at the establishment.
The saucy song by a female artiste D'Angel which suggests that 'Minute man fi get bun'. The song is voiced on a 80s one-drop song and in the introduction, the artiste uses D'Angel's signature introduction, 'Anso' and declares 'this is Angel'.

DAngel2.jpgIf some bwoy nah gimme the wok right, him haffi get some bun around here, ANSO

Some bwoy fi get bun, bun-bun-bun
"Beenie man" lmmaofi get bun, bun-bun-bun
Some bwoy fi get bun-bun-de-bun-bun
Minute man fi get bun-bun-bun

Bwoy gwaan like him waan come hate me body
Just through him hear say me a par wid Teddy
Through him know say dem man de big and heavy
And di man plan fi buy me a brand new Chevy
Mi dun tell the bwoy mi waan a strong man fi come hackle mi body
From wah day ya, mi notice say the bwoy nuh ready

Is this really D'Angel? And who is Teddy? Is this short hard for 'teddy bear'? And is he really big and heavy physically? Or does the 'big and heavy' dispensation refer to his deep pockets, and fat bankroll?

If this is really the female artiste known as D'Angel, it could be a startling revelation of infidelity, or maybe it is just a fictional narrative penned by D'Angel.  While this song does not have the same emotional currency of Rihanna's Unfaithful, it is striking in its - to use the local parlance -- 'barefacedness' and its impish mean-spiritedness.

In an  interview two weeks ago, Beenie Man told reporter that Angel had done a song saying 'Beenie Man fi get bun'.

"How she fi even do a song like that?" he had said, shaking his head. "Me fi get bun?"rorororo(beenie fi get bun, yah)ro

A DERANGED dad who gassed himself and his two kids on Fathers Day sent a last chilling message to his estranged wife, saying: "Ive left you a present."

Brian Philcox killed himself and his two kids after taking them on a fun trip to a steam train railway.

The black belt karate fanatic flipped as a bitter custody and property battle with his estranged wife Lyn approached its climax.

After giving children Amy, seven, and three-year-old Owen their railway treat, he drove them to a remote beauty spot in Snowdonia.

He ran a hosepipe from the exhaust of his Land Rover Freelander, started the engine, then climbed into the back seat with the kids as poisonous fumes engulfed them.

A passer-by found their bodies on a road between Maenan and Tal-y-Cafn on Fathers Day.

Rigged

Last night it emerged Philcox phoned Lyn, who had filed for divorce, before the outrage.

He hinted he had rigged up a B**** at the home they once shared.

Tragedy ... police at death scene

And he told her: Ive left you a present. Ill make the paper just you watch.

He also called controversial dads rights group Fathers 4 Justice to ask for advice.

Balding Philcox and Lyn split up 18 months ago.

But he refused to leave their four-bed home in Runcorn, Cheshire forcing the wife to move into her mums with Amy, Owen and her 18-year-old son from a previous relationship, Ryan.

The warring couple were due at a family court yesterday. Judges were expected to boot Philcox out so Lyn could move back in.

But the husband told a horrified neighbour: Id rather burn it down than let that bitch have it.

Clues ... evidence
carried from home

Philcox, a karate instructor involved with several martial arts organisations, picked up Amy and Owen on Friday night for the pre-arranged trip to the steam railway.

Lyn reported the kids missing 24 hours later when Philcox failed to return them.

She also told police about her husbands b**** threat and cops threw a 200m cordon around the disputed property.

B**** disposal experts moved in and found a crude hoax device.

Philcox sent a similar contraption to Ryan, who he often battered when they lived together.

It was found yesterday and detonated in a field as a precaution.

Teddies and flowers were pinned outside the family home last night.

One tearful neighbour claimed Lyn had told cops Philcox was violent and would harm their kids.

But police insisted they had received no reports.

Another neighbour, Tommy Tieray, 44, said: What kind of man would do this just to spite his wife?

Philcox wed Lyn in 2000 after his first wife Janet died of cancer.

He was subsequently named Man of the Year locally over his fund-raising for cancer victims.

HAPLESS Haywood Rosales is suing a DIY store after he got stuck to a TOILET seat as he used the loo while shopping.

Rosales, 31, claims he did not notice a prankster had covered the seat with colourless superglue.

He has filed legal papers saying he had to phone his wife on his mobile to alert shop staff.

And he suffered cuts and bruises to his buttocks when he finally stood up, leaving him unable to work for weeks.

Rosales is seeking more than £12,500 damages from the store in Florissant, Missouri.

More and more, it has become clear that Jamaican artistes are being treated unfairly by record labels and management alike, there is little opportunity for them to be exposed in the US and Global markets, and that limited exposure generally rewards the record Labels and Management to a far greater extent than the artists who do the hard work. Urban Music Alliance is addressing that disparity, giving artistes an opportunity to sell their product internationally at royalty rates generally reserved for record companies, and with complete transparency.

Urban Music Alliance is a digital media distribution company that provides various distribution and marketing services for its Artists/Labels. Our network of digital retail partners includes all the major distributors such as iTunes, Amazon, eMusic, Rhapsody, Napster, Sprint, Verizon and T Mobile, as well as dozens of newly emerging outlets. We distribute to retailers around the world and are tapped into the most efficient delivery and content management systems in the business. Our Console allows our clients complete access to view the status of their sales and releases. Clients can view where their releases have been delivered, where they are in the distribution process and most importantly, see a very detailed sales history. Urban Music Alliance is the only digital distributor catering to the needs of the urban market.

Fan Issues Challenge to Bounty

findImg.php?pic_size=200&table_name=news_img_tab&table_field=img_id&img_id=1575 After 876radio.com carried the story about the ongoing feud between Bounty Killer and his latest nemesis the Monster Empire the article seems to have stuck a nerve with an avid supporter of the site.

In so doing they've written a piece to try and add some clarity to the very cloudy situation that now exist between the members of the Alliance and other artistes in the music business, and the article read. (The views express in this article are not necessarily those of 876radio.com)

I would like to take the opportunity to ask one question "Rodney Price, Who The F*ck Do You Think You Are?"

Your constant bickering with other artiste have riddled your career with nothing but childish arguments that a man with such international reach should have never found himself in. Cut out the f*ckery and sit down with the alliance (a bunch of f*cking spineless lackies) and do music, good f*cking music.

So what if you gave Roundhead some rims, so what if now he's saying sh*t about you. Climb above the negativity and realize your potential. As for the members of your crew called Alliance, come on guys get a life of your own. Fine, we all get it that your all so-called friends but it seems to me that its a parasitic relationship.

Once in the alliance if one man a shine the rest latch on to that ray of sunlight. Our music, yes I dared to say "OUR", that is Jamaican music is the most far reaching music genre in the f*cking world. this means that your audience is so wide your current net worth would increase exponentially if you guys just focus on your careers in stead of arguing with every artist who is not among the alliance.

Rodney Price, you have risen from the inner slums of Jamaica and yes you have helped to breathe life into the careers of other artistes, but now you need to be responsible and do positive things. I put forward a challenge to you all, stop singing anti-gay music, for a year , not because we like "b*ttyman" but because we refuse to give them any publicity. get them off your asses just for a year no bans and see how much money you'll make.

Take Sean Paul and Shaggy for example, the man them just sing about the girls and a few gansta tunes and you tell me, do you have half the money they have? Is it that they sold out to the homos? No the man them in this thing for the money, leave b*ttymen to father GOD him light them up before so him we light up them again. ever heard of AIDS , that slow burning fire!

Think money, continue to give youths an opportunity to make it big, and my once favourite artiste, "GAL CLOWN" formerly known as Beenie man won't have sh*t on you. Who the f*ck fights with the Marley Family ? Respect to all level headed artist. P.S. Wayne Marshall you have sense use it
MediaTakeOut.com's caught wind that yesterday on Wendy Williams' top rated radio show The Wendy Williams Experience - Wendy got former Destiny's Child member Michelle Williams to talk openly about smoking marijuana, having sex, and falling on 106 & Park.

For this first time ever, Michelle actually sounded like a real girl - not the manufactured bourgeois singer that she's been playing for the past few years.

The best part of the interview though is where Michelle claimed that Mathew Knowles forced her to change name - from her real name Tenitra - to Michelle. LMAO at a man who names his daughters Beyonce and Solange forcing her to call herself "Michelle."

And if you listen carefully, you'll wonder - what's up with Michelle and Charlamagne. Don't it sound like something's gonna pop off between those two....

Seven men were charged with betting on dogfights Monday - including an accused ringleader who claimed he didn't know his Bronx apartment was being used to stage the cruel battles.

Alexander Estephane, 44, told investigators he thought the group of 40 to 50 men were simply using his basement apartment "for a party" late Saturday.

Police said 16 dogs and two roosters were recovered in the raid on the E. 179th St. flat in Tremont.

One of the *lo**ied dogs later died.

Lauritz Acoy, 41, and Eric Boyce, 33, both of the Bronx, and Israel Cuevas, 34; Juan Toledo, 38; Alterik Mason, 29, and Darnell Walker, 34, all of New Jersey, were arraigned on animal fighting charges and could face up to a year in prison.

Estephane faces a stiffer penalty for hosting the *lo** sport, sources said.

When the clock strikes midnight on June 18th, Dell will discontinue its sales of XP systems. The move allows Dell to meet the imposed June 30th deadline which requires the industry to cease shipment of XP machines. That is, unless you're in the market for a netbook or nettop in which case Microsoft is happy for vendors to continue shipping XP in order to stifle Linux's penetration into consumer computing give consumers a consistent user experience. After June 18th, certain Dell products will still be offered with a factory installed, XP Professional "downgrade" at the cost to you or your business of an unused Windows Vista Business or Vista Ultimate license and presumably, a small fee as we heard earlier. However, according to TGDaily, the downgrade will only be offered on XPS 630 and XPS 720 H2C desktops or the M1730 laptop -- not the 11 laptops and 10 desktops Dell currently ships with an XP option.

Self-proclaimed King of the Dancehall, Moses Beenie Man Davis, has voiced his obvious dislike for members of the prestigious reggae clan, the Marleys.

In a taped interview with radio personality Chris Goldfinger on the British-based radio station BBC Radio 1 (97-99 FM), Beenie Man spoke about an alleged run-in with Stephen Marley. The video of the interview is available on the Youtube website entitled Beenie Man Interview Exclusive Part 2.

The feud between Beenie Man and the Marleys is reported to have gone public during a concert in The Bahamas in April this year. According to one popular entertainment website, Beenie, while performing, said that his time was cut short.

He is said to have proceeded to describe Stephen and Damian in a derogatory manner.

In the interview with Goldfinger which was posted on www.you-tube.com on May 24, the deejay gave his side to what happened at that concert. After boasting about having 1,562 hits, more than any other dancehall artiste, he went on to say, Dem invite mi to dem show in di Bahamas. When mi go a di show, dem gimme 25 minutes to work. . (name deleted) Marley go pon stage and seh yeah, mi love Beenie Man, yes, but di people dem need more Elephant Man, when di people dem nuh want no more Elephant. Di people dem waan hear more Beenie Man, no disrespect to Elephant Man cause a mi artiste, no disrespect. Mi love him to death.

He continued, di fact is, yuh caan go pon stage and seh dat when yuh is a Marley, weh yuh a pay mi fi come do your show. Wah yuh do? Pay mi fi disrespect mi? Carry me come a di place fi disrespect mi fi mek yuh know seh yuh nuh rate me? So mi mek a strong statement, mi seh mi know di whole a unnu nuh rate me because yuh neva put me on a show in Jamaica yet, yuh put Bounty Killer and a bag of man and yet it neva work out

Getting used

Mi definitely see seh mi a get used, the people dem a seh Beenie Man, Beenie Man and yuh a call up a bag of different artistes. When di time done is 20 minutes left, how yuh can give a big man like me 20 minutes weh have over a 1,000 hit songs? Dat nuh mek no sense. A disrespect, so mi feel offended, so mi go pon stage and talk mi mind.

Who should close

Beenie Man then goes on to discuss a separate incident that occurred at a concert in Germany where he and the Marleys were booked to perform. He said When mi deh at Germany now and di promoter go and tell them seh alrite yuh have 80,000 people inna di venue weh every year when yuh come ya is 40,000 people, now yuh have 80,000 people inna di show cause a Beenie Man, mek Beenie Man close di show. Dem look pon me and tell me seh dem a royal family of reggae music dem nuh work before no deejay. So nobody shouldnt find dat offensive?

He continued, Dem nuh show mi no respect so why should I show dem di respect? I show Bob Marley di respect, I show Ky-Mani Marley respect cause him show mi respect. Stephen Marley go on like him too tough, and dem nuh tough like mi, cause dem nuh know nutten bout gangsta-ism nor ghetto life. A deh so mi grow, deh so my music come from and dem nuh tougher than mi, a so my ting stay.

Efforts to get a comment from the Marleys proved futile at press time.

TURLOCK, Calif. - Police killed a 27-year-old man as he kicked, punched and stomped a toddler to death despite other people's attempts to stop him on a dark, country road, authorities said.

Investigators on Sunday were trying to establish the relationship between the suspect and the child they say he killed Saturday night. The Stanislaus County coroner said the boy appeared to be between 1 and 2 years old based on his size, according to county sheriff's deputy Royjindar Singh.

"It's been a long night of wondering, 'Why?' not only for the officers and the passers-by who stopped and tried to help out, but for anyone. Why would somebody do this?" Singh said.

Singh said the coroner does not plan to confirm the identities of the suspect and victim until Monday. Because his injuries were so severe, the child will have to be identified through a *lo** or DNA test, he said.

The suspect had a child's car seat in the back of his four-door pickup truck. The truck caught the attention of an elderly couple at 10:13 p.m. Saturday because it was stopped in the two-lane road facing the wrong direction, Singh said.

As they got closer, the couple saw the man brutally beating the toddler behind his truck and throwing the child on the ground, according to Singh. Two or three other cars stopped, an unusual number to be passing through the remote area surrounded by a dairy, a cow pasture, a cornfield and a farmhouse, he said.

"What we got from witnesses is he was punching, slapping, kicking, stomping, shaking," Singh said. "They tried to intervene and get involved, but their efforts really didn't have an effect. The suspect was engaged in what he was doing. He just pushed them off and went back to it."

A sheriff's helicopter responding to emergency calls from the area landed in a cow pasture at 10:19 p.m. carrying a Modesto police officer who shot the man to death after he refused an order to stop beating the child, Singh said.

Paramedics tried to resuscitate the toddler, who was not breathing when they arrived. The boy was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

No children within the dead boy's age range have been reported kidnapped or missing in Stanislaus County, Singh said.

The incident happened on Bradbury Road about 10 miles west of Turlock, a city located about halfway between Sacramento and Fresno.

50 and Ciara may be married!! We don't have any concrete evidence yet - but there's plenty of circumstantial proof. First - As the above photo shows 50 Cent is wearing a wedding band - and has been secretly for a few weeks.

Second, while we don't have any photos, MediaTakeOut.com has been told that R&B singer Ciara is also wearing a ring on her left ring finger.

Finally - We reached out to it's usual G-Unit insiders and asked for their take on it. And the usually chatty insiders have yet to return any of our emails or phone calls.

'm a young adult with a very serious problem. About four years ago I was molested by my aunt's boyfriend. I was young and when I told my aunt about the incident she was about four months pregnant for him. She sort of believed me, but made no effort to report the matter. My father knew about the incident as he was the first person I contacted. My mother and her sisters later heard about the incident, but no one reported the matter. I have had to live with these same people for years with them knowing what had taken place. I'm still living in the house, but my aunt left a year after the incident. It's really hard for me as it is causing problems for me and my boyfriend. It's like no matter how hard I try, I keep thinking that all men are the same. I've not seen a psychologist and I don't know if I want to. I'm really private so I don't know what to do. Pastor, please, I need your fatherly advice on this matter. K.J., St Catherine Jamaica Dear K.J., You claim that you are a private person, but you knew that what your aunt's boyfriend did to you was wrong and at least you told your father, your aunts and your mother. Unfortunately, they did not seek professional help for you and the incident has affected you. distrust You are old enough to know that not every man is a rapist. Nevertheless, the relationship with your boyfriend is not what it ought to be because you consider men to be untrustworthy. You will never be able to relate well with your boyfriend if you do not receive professional help. So, please, stop thinking that you are a private person. You need to talk to a family counsellor or a psychologist as soon as possible. And after you have done some sessions, you need to take your boyfriend to see the psychologist too. Pastor

Gunmen in *lo**-stained August Town have agreed to a five-year peace pact under which an intermediary board will be established to work with residents and the police.

President of the August Town Community Sports Development Foundation, Kenneth Wilson, confirmed the agreement but told the Sunday Observer that finer details are being hammered out.

"The central part of this agreement is a commitment to no gunfire in the community," Wilson explained. "The first phase is to last for five years with a rider, if necessary, for annual reviews and renewal."

Leaders of warring 'corners' in the community will meet again this Wednesday to finalise the agreement, which is expected to be signed at an official ceremony scheduled for June 29 at the UWI Bowl.

Wilson said the agreement has the support of the Peace Management Initiative, his organisation, the police, the August Town chapter of Youth Crime Watch, and the University of the West Indies (UWI), which has committed to further development in the area.

Signatories to the agreement will be corner leaders from sections of the community named Vietnam, Goldsmith Villa, River, Judgment Yard, Jungle 12 and Colour Red.

"These leaders will be signing on behalf of their corners, and from this body will emerge a Corner Leaders' Peace Council, which will meet on a monthly basis to keep the discussions ongoing, and whatever issues they cannot handle they will refer to the police," Wilson disclosed.

The cease-fire comes after months of *lo**letting and several rounds of meetings to stem the intermittent violence that has claimed dozens of lives over the past five years.

In April, heavily armed gangs fought a more than five-hour street battle in the community, killing two men and injuring three people. Police were eventually able to end the fierce skirmish after they entered the community in armoured trucks at minutes after 4:00 pm through a section near a quarry at Goldsmith Villa.

Early last month, four persons, including a one-year-old child, were shot dead in the continuing violence that has made life unbearable for the residents.

Sources inside the community suggested that those killings, particularly that of the one-year-old child, was the straw that broke the camel's back, as residents, otherwise not prone to violence, killed three members of the gang that committed the murders.

One man claiming intimate knowledge of the reprisal said it was a message to the gang that the residents would no longer stand by and be murdered. However, he was clear that he wanted the peace agreement to work.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Mark Shields, who has worked with the community, attending meetings with the leaders, welcomed the pact.

"August Town, I believe, presents us with a perfect example to get the anti-crime efforts right," Shields told the Sunday Observer. "It is a university town surrounded by two premier universities in the Caribbean, plus the major teaching hospital. There is a high degree of education, and educational reserves within and hovering around the community. There are good, good people here, home owners, so we have a chance to get it right, develop a model and help them make it right."

Nearly a month ago, at the height of the *lo**letting, Shields pleaded at a meeting with the community to realise its potential and urged the community to choose one of two directions - right or left.

"To choose left is to be left behind, but you can choose right and be a part of what's right in August Town. And I am afraid if you don't go right, you will be left." he said to loud applause from the residents.

The community sits in the St Andrew Eastern constituency represented in Parliament by the ruling Jamaica Labour Party's Dr St Aubyn Bartlett. But Bartlett, who won the seat for the second time in last September's general elections, has not managed to win kudos from some residents who accuse him of not attending meetings aimed at brokering a peace deal.

A few residents were more forgiving of Professor Trevor Munroe, who sought to represent the constituency on a People's National Party ticket in the last general elections, saying he was new to the area.
However, they claimed that he, too, was absent from at least two planned meetings.

Efforts to get comments from both politicians were unsuccessful. In the meantime, Shields said his wish was for total disarmament over time, but he was happy to work with the current arrangement.

He said he was aware that the peace deal could leave the community open to attack from gunmen from other communities, but said he hoped that the residents would begin to trust the police and report suspicious activities.

"Three specially trained police officials who have been working with the residents will be assigned to the community," said Shields. "I have spoken with residents and heard their concerns about abuses from cops. That must not happen, not in August Town, not anywhere across Jamaica, but the citizens also have a responsibility to work together for what is right."

Professor Barry Chevannes of the UWI agreed, and added that the university had gone past promises and was waiting to put its commitment into operation.

He disclosed that the homework supervision programme offered to students of the community by UWI and University of Technology students will be revived once the violence ceases. The UWI would also be undertaking a scholarship programme to students of the community, guaranteeing them places at the UWI. The programme is aimed at children from the basic school level right through preparation for university.

Kartel Campaigns For Peace

Looking at the spiraling crime rate in Jamaica many citizens have lost hope while others have migrated to foreign lands in an effort to escape the reality of our crime problems, so now it's up to us who are left in the homeland to tame this beast.

For many years our local entertainers have been the scape goats used by Government and certain sectors of society to blame for the uncontrollable monster now wreaking havoc throughout our society.

However with the dawning of the new year 876radio.com has observed many of our entertainers stepping to the fore to give some hope to the youths of this country, in recent times heading the list is reggae icons Buju Banton who recently made a public declaration to all his fellow entertainers to clean up their lyrics and public personas, this was met with mixed criticism but more positive than negative.

Surprisingly the call has been answered by one of Dancehall's most notorious bad boy, the leader of the Portmore Empire, Vybz Kartel who has vowed to join the campaign to bring peace and lyrics that are more edifying to the youths.

Kartel said that entertainers are very powerful people and also the voice of a nation but they can only do so much and no more as the media and disc jocks have to do their part.

According to Kartel "Mi sing a song name 'Broad Day Light' and it get play fifty (50) million times a day, but di song weh seh 'Everybody Wanna Tun A Badman' if you hear it three (3) times that nuff, so yuh see di media haffi do their part to dem also have a responsibility fi educate the nation".

In another Interview Kartel was quoted as saying that himself rival bad boy Mavado among other prominent entertainers will be joining forces to campaign for peace in the coming months as that is what the industry needs right now for all of us to operate as a united front and do away with the confrontation.

Kartel who just months ago was freed along with fellow deejay Aidonia of gun-related charges is enjoying some steady success with the launch of his Vybz Rum and a cadre of new singles saturating the local airwaves.

Delroy_Howell_edit.jpgThe Hilton Kingston Hotel has reportedly been sold for about US$50 million to Delroy Howell of First Financial Caribbean parent company of the local Quick Cash Sun Money Transfer.

Hilton Hotel has been in the news lately as the embattled Cash Plus' Carlos Hill claimed to have bought it. The closing cost is above that claimed to have been paid by hill which was an unconfirmed US$42 million. But Cash Plus part in that is now history as First Financial bought the property from the previous owners Ron Kelly and Tobias Rowe. Interesting days are ahead for the hotel and the new owners.

VALUES: Is dancehall culture a good role model?

A media watchdog group has blasted dancehall music, claiming that its explicit lyrics and sexually suggestive dance moves are sending wrong messages about relationships to children.

Hilary Nicholson of Womens Media Watch said: Most of these songs are messages which relate to male-female relationships and are not messages of respect, care and consideration, she said.

They dont promote values. Instead, what is being pushed is aggressive sexuality. And most times, its not them (the artistes) singing about what they are doing, but it seems like they are telling you what to do and how to treat women, Nicholson told the Jamaican Gleaner newspaper.

She argued that some dancehall songs normalise violent sexual behaviour, which affects both men and women. There are some women who believe that when a man is not applying force, he is not doing something properly. It is like they have come to believe that sex should be something forceful, involving even the bruising of genitals, said Nicholson.

But not everyone agreed. At dancehall events on some streets where the music is played, residents told local reporters they saw nothing wrong with children learning the lyrics and even doing the dance moves. In fact at one dance, held on the outskirts of the parish of St Catherine, explicit lyrics filled the air and patrons, many of them women, got busy gyrating, despite the presence of more than a dozen children under 10 years old.

They even held a dance competition which saw three women in their mid-20s and four young girls compete with suggestive dance moves on a makeshift stage. The crowd cheered as one girl balanced on her head, legs shooting into the air. One man told the Gleaner that such competitions happened all the time and children often came with their mums.

A ghetto this, you know. Is just the ghetto culture. Nothing wrong with it, he said.

Lorain Henry, a mum of five children under age 13, agreed.

Nothing nuh wrong wid dancehall music. My pickney dem know di whole ah the song dem. Dem go a dance and nothing nuh do dem. Is just because is poor people music why dem a try fight it. Nothing nuh wrong wid it! she insisted. The West Kingston mum got support from her neighbours as she said:

My big daughter go dance and know di song dem from she start go school, Lorain said, calling her daughter so she could dance and perform her favourite song, called Wine pon di edge.

Dr. Donna Hope, lecturer in reggae studies at the University of the West Indies in Kingston said much depended on a childs home life and values taught. She said children may not fully understand what they are saying. She said while there has been no formal research done to assess the impact of dancehall on children, social factors perhaps play a greater role in shaping values.

But at least one DJ, Jeffrey Campbell, who goes by the moniker Assassin, said parents have to be more responsible and censor what their children see or hear.

What do you think, is dancehall culture a negative influence on young children?

Realized that some ppl on here was wondering so here's some info.

Buju and Junior...time to bury the hatchetbuju_juniorREID.jpg

The Buju Banton and Junior Reid drama seem to have no end. Junior Reid was quoted publicly as saying that he has forgiven Buju for the disrespect he showed him at the Best of the Best show in Miami. Reid was annoyed and upset because he claimed that Buju referred to him as 'Junior Greed' in front of his daughter Destiny who wanted to meet Buju whom she really admired. That was the real reason Junior got all upset and called Banton a fish.

A lot of people feel as if Buju should have apologized to Reid for his behaviour but a report in a weekend paper claimed that Buju had disparaging words for Junior Reid at Weddy Weddy. So...where will this end? All we at YardFlex can say is let good sense prevail we don't endorse insult or any kind of verbal abuse....if Reid's daughter looks up to you and wanted to meet you, show some professional courtesy.

Honestly we are getting sick and tired of all these dancehall feuds, just when you think you have put it all behind you another one crops up. But what makes it worse is that these two artistes are well respected in the dancehall circles, not just locally but on the internationally. They are admired and respected all over the world, and that it should involve two of the top artistes who are waving the reggae flag across the globe, it's really sad.

On that note, we hope that both go back to making beautiful music and living as one. It's time to bury the hatchet, but not in each other! Who knows you can both use this opportunity to do a c****ination and present a united front.

Sizzlas visa was rejected in Germany while sizzla made a break on his European tour, to play on Best of the Best in Miami.
o this happened when he fly back to Europe, in Madrid-Spain, supposedly Sizzla knew nothing about his visa being canceled. So police arrested him at the airport.. he passed the night on the police station .. and today he was deported to the states, I think to Seattle.. , an email from Sissi Ameur, a concerned member of the European reggae community, said. The fire house band played a free show yesterday in Madrid but without the man. I got these information and for sure now all Sizzla shows are cancelled.., the email concluded.

A sister of Lance Corporal Oral Pinnock, the soldier killed last month in a police/military operation in Westmore Gardens in St Catherine, yesterday urged members of the security forces to ensure that he did no die in vain.

Sergeant Pamella Millen, herself a Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) soldier, was resolute in her stance as she urged her colleagues to commit to ridding Jamaica of crime.

(Photo: Lionel Rookwood)

"Continue to rid our blessed land of the scourge of crime and unlawful persons who have made it their mission to have law-abiding citizens cowering in fear as they loot, plunder and kill at will," she told an overflowing congregation of mourners at Pinnock's funeral service inside the Point Hill Baptist Church in St Catherine.

Having been the one to encourage her brother to join the army 10 years ago, Millen said they often talked about what they would do if faced with death in the line of duty.

"On numerous occasions over the years, we discussed the possibility of dying while carrying out our duties, and we also said that if we are faced with death then we would take out as many criminals as was humanly possible," Millen said.

On May 26, in the wee hours of the morning, she said Pinnock took the life of the gunman who had killed two policemen and whose bullet eventually killed him.

As members of the security forces, she said, they can take comfort in the fact that they have one less criminal to deal with, and that Pinnock died doing what he loved, as he had a passion for the army.

Millen said her brother died like a true soldier, and that it was his valiant effort which saved the lives of his comrades, some of whom would have been killed had it not been for his courageous battle with the criminals.

"Do not let my brother's death be in vain; carry on the mantle as courageous soldiers you are," she said.

Prime Minister Bruce Golding, who read the scripture lesson, reaffirmed the Government's support for the security forces in the challenging job they do.

"We have to continue to support them in all the work they do so those with no respect for life can be put where they belong," he said.
Golding said while it was the calling of a soldier to be prepared to give up his life for his country, this is on the assumption that it will be in conflicts with foreign forces.

With each tribute delivered for Pinnock, the sentiments were the same. He was an unselfish man who gave too much of himself.

Many sought to comfort his young widow, Andrea, who was expecting the couple's very first child and who punctuated each tribute with screams of "Hallelujah, Jesus".

It was as if the entire community of Point Hill, where Pinnock grew up, along with well-wishers from other sections of the island and a large contingent of security personnel, came to pay respect to him as he was laid to rest at his childhood home with full military honours.

Royal Wright, president of the citizens' association in Kennedy Grove, St Catherine, where Pinnock lived, told how the soldier had always wanted to see a change in that community and dreamt of transforming it into a place like Hope Gardens.

"Kennedy Grove will never be the same without you, and our nation has lost a son because of brutal men who were not born criminals but chose to become one," she said.

Pinnock's superior, Major R A DaCosta, who gave the eulogy, choked as he remembered "a committed soldier" who on the day he was killed was not rostered to work.

He said "time will not dull the excellence of his service", even as he assured Pinnock's widow that their unborn child will have many hands to raise him/her.

The sermon, which left many in a reflective mood, was delivered by Reverend Devon Daley, who also urged the security forces and Jamaicans to stand firm in the face of violence and let nothing move them.

Stephen "Lenky" Marsden is home. The founding member of Buju Banton's much lauded Shiloh Band, has returned to his key position after a five year absence. "I never left the band," Lenky insists. "I never stopped rehearsing. I stayed in touch with everyone and everything."

Lenky.jpgAn accomplished producer, Lenky made history in 2002 when three singles on his smash Diwali riddim catapulted to the top of the Billboard charts (Sean Paul - "Get Busy" #1; Lumi Dee - "Uh- Oh" #2; Wayne Wonder - "No Holding Back #11)." He would spend the next several years happily cranking out signature remixes for such diverse artists as Smashmouth, the Isley Brothers, Christina Aguilera, Baha Men and Timbaland, but still something was missing.

"My first passion is playing keyboard... I can't stray far from that. Mi is a keyboard player... That is what mi do," explains Lenky, who began touching around with the instrument at age 13. "There's nothing like playing live, showcasing my talent and just real musicianship. That must be expressed through a band."

Catch Lenky with Shiloh Band, backing Buju Banton of course, at the following upcoming dates:

A street-sweeping truck has sucked a dog up through its bristles on a New York street, leaving its horrified owner holding nothing but the lead.

Robert Machin, 57, had just finished walking his two Boston terriers in the Bronx and was about to load them into his car when the truck appeared.

He recalls being whipped around, only to glimpse Ginger meeting her end in the sweeper's round brushes.

City sanitation officers described the dog's death as "rare and unfortunate".

But Mr Machin, a retired public transport worker, questioned whether the driver had been observing proper procedures.

The truck, he said, seemed to have been barrelling through the street at an unsafe speed.

Truck chase

"It happened so fast," he told the New York Daily News.

"It spun me around, and as it spun me around, I caught a last glimpse of her.

"I was devastated. I was completely dumbfounded and shocked. I mean, I just witnessed my dog sucked up into a street sweeper."

He said he had chased the truck for about two and a half blocks, shouting for the operator to stop.

The driver eventually came back but refused to turn off the whirring brushes that had crushed Ginger, until he arrived, the paper adds.

The Department of Sanitation offered its condolences to Mr Machin and his family but added: "It is important for all New Yorkers to remember to maintain the safety of their animals while walking city streets."

Ginger's master who, according to the New York Daily News, plans to contact the Humane Society and hire a lawyer, said his lost dog had been like family to him.

"My children are all grown up," he said.

"These two dogs, they're my life," he added, choking back tears.

hostage stand-off

An armed man has taken at least four people hostage in the city hall in the Dutch city of Almelo, about 150km (100 miles) east of Amsterdam, reports say.

A city council member and three others were reported to be among those being held by the owner of a restaurant.

The man had recently lost his restaurant licence, the national broadcaster NOS said.

According to one report, he set his car on fire in front of the city hall, then slipped in as it created a diversion.

His restaurant was also rephostaorted to have been burned down - TV pictures showed firefighters battling the flames in a cafe building.

Dutch media said about 50 employees were escorted from the city hall by police at about 1200 GMT, about three hours after the stand-off began.

Police have sealed off the area and said they were trying to contact the man.

Usher is starting to really talk crazy now. MediaTakeOut.com caught wind of some recent statements that the R&B singer gave to Vibe magazine. During an interview, the following words slipped out of Usher's mouth:
It can never be bad to have a foundation as a man - a black man - in a time when women are dying for men. Women have started to become lovers of each other as a result of not having enough men.

Are you not studying the stories? Wake up! Black love is a good thing.

findImg.php?pic_size=200&table_name=news_img_tab&table_field=img_id&img_id=1539 Almost two weeks ago when 876radio.com broke the story about the heated exchange between reggae icons Junior Reid and the Gargamel Buju Banton at the recently concluded 'Best of The Best 2008' concert held in downtown Miami, a lot of questions have risen as to what was the real reason behind the melee.
Initially Reid who was very tight lipped about the situation denied rumours that there was a physical altercation between himself and Buju but took the opportunity to add some clarity to the now looming feud.

According to Reid, Destiny (his daughter) who is an avid fan of Buju went over to greet him backstage and upon introducing herself, Buju referred to me as "oh...Junior Greed", my daughter found it rather embarra**ing and offensive and asked me if there was some ongoing feud between myself and Gargamel, however I was about to embark the stage so I paid it no mind.

After my performance I was being interviewed by members of the media in the press area, when Banton came over to greet me and that's when the exchange ensued. I asked him why he had disrespected my daughter and referred to me as "Junior Greed" then I told him I will not shake the hand of a hypocrite. He responded with some expletives and that's when I called him "Batty Banton".

Reid a certified legend in the business is on the verge of releasing his latest project titled "Junior Reid: The Living Legend" after blazing a trail for over thirty (30) years. He kick started his career in the late 70's with the group Black Uhuru before going solo and has never looked back since.

The much-anticipated Strategic Review of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) has snubbed calls for police commissioners to be empowered to hire and fire members of the force. Chairman of the six-member Strategic Review Panel, Dr. Herbert Thompson, said the review team did not see the necessity for the police chief to be given increased powers to hire and fire.

While the review panel did not single out for close examination the powers of the police chief and calls for increased powers as chief executive officer to hire and fire, it opted to go the route of examining the disciplinary structures within the force and giving greater powers and charge to the senior officers around the commissioner.  These include deputy commissioners, assistant commissioners, senior superintendents and superintendents.

Dr. Thompson stressed that throughout the report, the review team was cautious about putting too much powers in the hands of any one individual. The Police Commissioner himself also needs to be scrutinised regarding the powers exercised.  You might now have a laudable commissioner, but you can never tell the type of commissioner you might have in the future, therefore the powers given to him have to be curtailed, Dr Thompson stated.

When questioned about the claim by past commissioners that their hands were tied by the bureaucratic structures in the force regarding disciplining members, Dr. Thompson took issue with this claim, pointing to the evidence which suggested that past commissioners have not been using the laid down procedures to enforce discipline in the JCF.

How can you complain about your hands being tied when you have over 500 cases against members of the police force at all levels sitting at the desk of the Police High Command and not turn them over to the Police Services Commission or the Director of Public Prosecutions for action to be taken, asked Dr. Thompson, who is also president of Northern Caribbean University.

He referred to the Strategic Review Report titled, A New Era of Policing in Jamaica: Transforming the JCF, which stated, Despite the assembly of evidence and presentation of information to incriminate staff, the JCF has been less than diligent in submitting files to the Commissioner of Police, the PSC and DPP. In fact, the PSC reported that despite the hundreds of cases of police breaches over the last four years, only four files have been received from the Commissioner of Police requesting the PSC to advance disciplinary sanctions. The reported noted that this raised serious concerns about the internal accountability within the police force.

The Strategic Review Panel chairman stated that these findings informed the decision to strengthen the disciplinary structures and the senior personnel around the commissioner, rather than giving the police boss the power to hire and fire.

According to the strategic review, the disciplinary system in the police force was ineffectually managed, and frequently and visibly circumvented by the JCF and is of little value. The review observed that the lack of discipline in the force was not as a result of inadequate regulations but rather the lack of proper management and enforcement.

Shares in Yahoo fell up to 7.5% on Friday, after some investors doubted the financial benefits of a tie-up with search engine giant Google._44698125_yahooap226.jpg

Yahoo said the agreement to allow Google ads to appear alongside Yahoo search results could be worth up to $800m (£410m) in additional revenue.

Some analysts suggest a deal with Microsoft may have been better for Yahoo shareholders.

Yahoo shares later recovered to finish broadly flat, while Google shares rose.

This week Yahoo spurned a Microsoft offer for its online search business.

The internet giant said it did not want to sell just that part of the business and had hoped to persuade Microsoft to revive its $47.5bn offer for the whole of the company, that Yahoo had earlier rejected.

Microsoft said in a statement on Thursday that it was no longer interested in buying Yahoo outright.

Instead, according to the Reuters news agency, it offered $1bn in cash to take control of the search business and a further $8bn for a 16% stake in Yahoo.

Citing sources familiar with the deal, Reuters suggested the Microsoft deal would have delivered $1bn in additional revenue for Yahoo every year from improved advertising rates.

Analysts suggest that Yahoo may face further legal action from shareholders unhappy at their handling of the Microsoft negotiations.

"We think at a minimum that the current deal will result in further lawsuits, which Yahoo will ultimately have to settle, further impacting the economics of the deal," said Jeffrey Lindsay, an analyst at Sanford C Bernstein.

'Review'

Yahoo's shares recovered towards the end of trading on Friday to close down five cents at $23.47.

Google shares however rose 3.4% to close at $571.51.

The agreement between Google and Yahoo will see Yahoo use the search engine giant's advertising technology.

It is expected to further bolster Google's position as the market leader, but the additional revenue will also be important for Yahoo.

"Microsoft walking from Yahoo should allow Google to continue to extend its lead in online advertising in the near-term," said RBS Capital Markets' analyst Ross Sandler.

"[And] at the same time, fortify Yahoo's position as the clear number two player," he said.

Google said it believes that the deal does not need regulatory approval, but that it would delay its start by up to three and a half months to give the US Department of Justice a chance to review it.

The Chairman of the Senate subcommittee on anti-trust, competition policy and consumer rights said it would be looking at the agreement.

"The consequences for advertisers and consumers could be far-reaching and warrant careful review, and we plan to investigate the competitive and privacy implications of this deal further," said Senator Herb Kohl.

Split over detention

June 15, 2008
Started By Garrick3 Comments

Indications are that there is a split between the Bruce Golding-led Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) administration and the opposition Peoples National Party (PNP) over proposals that would give the police powers to detain suspects without charge for up to six weeks, as part of its efforts to curb the islands crime wave.

Professor Don Robotham has been a leading exponent of the proposal, which is one of the primary anti-crime measures in the British governments fight against rising crime and the threat of terrorism in that country.

Last week the Gordon Brown-led administration secured a narrow victory in the British Parliament, increasing the number of days suspects can be held without being charge from 28 to 42.

Sources close to last weeks Vale Royal talks between the government and opposition, said the detention matter was among a menu of issues raised, but it was not agreed on.  Tougher gun laws and the tightening of the Bail Act to make it more difficult for suspected gun offenders and persons charged for murder to get bail, are also being considered.

It is understood that opposition members, Dr. Peter Phillips and A.J. Nicholson, along with National Security Minister, Colonel Trevor MacMillan, are members of a committee that has been mandated to examine the proposals.

Gang rivalry, which authorities said was among the main drivers of the homicide rate and which accounted for 80 per cent of the 200 murders in May, has been characterised as terrorism, hence the idea to introduce counter-terrorism legislation among the menu of anti-crime measures.  The number of established gangs nationally has reportedly increased from 12 in 1994, to 120 today, despite tough police actions, which have smashed several of the gangs in recent years.

While admitting that longer detention periods would help their cause, homicide detectives believe longer sentences for gun-related crimes and making it harder for offenders on murder and gun charges to get bail, should be prioritised.

But the proposal could run into howls of protests from local lawyers, who recently cried foul and accused the police of holding suspects beyond the 24-hour limit now on the local law books.

How it works in Britain
British critics say the plan to extend detention of suspects before charge to 42 days lacks proper safeguards and would prove to be counter-productive.  The key element of the bill is the extension of pre-charge detention to 42 days, meaning the period the police can detain a suspect without charging him/her for having committed a crime.

Before Wednesday, the British police could only hold suspects for 28 days.  The Home Office in that country gave four examples - a major operation, complex individual cases, the foiling of a major plot, and an operation involving many countries - as reasons for the extension of the detention period.

In explaining how the new measures would work, the Home Office said a chief constable and the director of public prosecutions would ask the Home Secretary to authorise the extension, which would remain in force for up to 60 days.  A judge has to approve the holding of each suspect for more than 28 days.  Parliament gets a vote within 30 days of the law being activated and if they object, the 42-day power is quashed. If they approve it, the power remains in force for the full 60 days.

Currently there is nothing in British law that prevents police from questioning someone after they have been charged, but police codes and practice prevent it happening at present.  The new law would explicitly allow officers to further question someone on the same terrorism-related offence with which they are already charged.

The limited expansion of the power means an officer cannot charge a suspect with a minor offence and hope to use post-charge questioning to introduce more severe matters.

Under the proposals, judges may impose longer sentences where terrorism connections are considered an aggravating factor.  In practice, the Home Office said this is aimed at suspects who are charged with a standard criminal offence such as murder, but the police allege the action can be associated with terrorist intentions.

Torrential downpours have affected some nine provinces with more heavy rain expected in the coming days, the official Xinhua News Agency reports.

Among those provinces badly hit is Sichuan, which is still reeling from last month's massive earthquake.

Some 87,000 people were killed or missing after the 12 May earthquake.

A GRANNY accused of hiring a hitman to kill her hubby 22 years ago is suspected of foul play over the deaths of her other four husbands. Betty Neumar, 76, was arrested after detectives uncovered new evidence on the 1986 gun murder of Harold Gentry. They found she was tens of thousands of pounds in debt with 36 credit cards at the time and had asked several people to kill the 48-year-old. After he died Neumar, dubbed the Black Widow, collected his £10,000 life insurance and moved away. Now the deaths of her first four husbands dating back to the 1950s have been reopened. Two others were similarly shot dead and cops say the first death was also suspicious. They seized the urn of fifth hubby John Neumar at the grans home in Richmond County, Georgia, US, and are carrying out tests on his ashes. He was believed to have died of infection sepsis last October. But police now fear she poisoned him with arsenic which causes similar symptoms. The widow cremated the 79-year-olds body so quickly his son John Jnr was not even aware of the funeral. He said: She never called me and told me he was sick or nothing. I found out he was dead when I read about it in the paper. Before I could go see him, he was cremated. Neumar is being held on a charge of the solicitation of Harolds murder. His brother Al, who persuaded detectives to reinvestigate his death, said she acted shadily when he died, blurting out an alibi. Neumar also showed little emotion over his death. Al revealed: If she had tears in her eyes or asked why anybody would kill him, Id never have suspected. Thats where she slipped up. He also said Neumar lied about her background, claiming at one stage to be a beautician, at other times a nurse. Al revealed he had now visited Harolds grave and told him: Brother, we got her

Rick Ross Dissing Plies?

My goodness! There sure is a lot of beef going on in the game and there apparently is a new one. This one comes all the way from NORWAY. Over the weekend. Rick Ross aka The Boss visited Oslo, Norway for a concert, from what I heard. It was crazy! Something shocked the fans over there in Oslo! After Ross performed "The Boss," he called out Plies! Specifically, I am being told that he called him the B-word aka a female dog! On top of that, Ross apparently stated that hes already done smacked the s**t outta him a couple years ago and Plies should thank Trick Daddy and Ross for his career. Where is this coming from? I know Trick Daddy recently lashed out on Plies for what, is still dont know. Anyway, after he dissed Plies. Ross spit a freestyle over the "I'm so hood" beat. Once again, its on!

findImg.php?pic_size=200&table_name=news_img_tab&table_field=img_id&img_id=1575 After 876radio.com carried the story about the ongoing feud between Bounty Killer and his latest nemesis the Monster Empire the article seems to have stuck a nerve with an avid supporter of the site.

'Snowman' Rapper Unsurprisingly Implicated In Cocaine Ring

jeezy.jpegMight as well go for a music star crime news two-fer this afternoon: Atlanta rap star Young Jeezy has been implicated in a major cocaine-dealing trial. A witness testifying in a case against members of Black Mafia Familya massive Atlanta drug gang that moved hundreds of millions of dollars' worth of coke across the countrysaid that Jeezy bought several kilos of coke from BMF. Well, duh. Jeezy's nickname is "Snowman":

Simms testified that his job was to unload BMF's cocaine from limos outfitted with secret compartments. He said he piled as many as 100 "bricks" of cocaine at a time inside the basement of one of BMF's stash houses, an ultra-modern Buckhead mansion nicknamed "Space Mountain." And he said that on one occasion, in the fall of 2004, he was ordered by high-ranking BMF members Chad "J-Bo" Brown and Martez "Tito" Byrth to set aside multi-kilo cocaine "shipments" for two customers. Simms said the customers picked up the coke from him at Space Mountain.

When asked by assistant U.S. Attorney Robert McBurney who the customers were, Simms gave two names: William "Doc" Marshall, a high-level BMF co-conspirator who testified earlier in the trial, and "Jeezy."

"Young Jeezy the rapper?" McBurney asked.

"Yes," Simms answered.

Less than surprising. But this could really put a cramp in Jeezy's brand new social networking site. On the site right now:

MySpace is preparing a major redesign next week as it tries to attract more casual users and increase the amount of time its members spend online.

Most of the changes will go live on 18 June and cover the site's home page, navigation, editing, search and video functions.

Managing director of MySpace UK, Antony Lukom, said designers have been working on the project for more than a year.

"We wanted to make it easier and more intuitive to use," he said.

"I remember when early mobile phones came out and gradually became simpler and easier to use.

"Social networks are part of our lives now and we're going through the same process. Lots of users don't know how to cut and paste code so we want to make that easier."

Fierce competition

The move comes as MySpace is facing increased competition in the UK from direct rivals Facebook and Bebo as well as up-and-coming sites like Twitter.

4.7 million users visited MySpace in April, down more than 30% on last year, according to data from Nielsen Online.

Its rivals experienced a big increase in numbers over that period with Facebook now dominating the market with 10.2 million users.

Facebook is also planning a major redesign of its site over the summer.

Designers there are planning some widespread changes to the way core profile pages are organised, aimed at making the site "simpler, cleaner and more relevant".

MySpace screen grab
It will be easier for users to embed their own video in their pages

Cutting the cl**tter

The MySpace redesign is the first complete overhaul of the site since it launched in January 2004.

Sections from the home - or "splash" - page down will be stripped of some of its more complicated features. Those 15 navigation links at the top of the screen will be cut to five tabs.

The US home page will be sponsored by one, as-yet unnamed advertiser.

Anthony Lukom has no plans for the same kind of thing in the UK but does expect advertisers to support the changes.

He said: "This is really about the user experience. But if the users are happy, advertisers are normally happy too."

The site recently let users split their online friends into different categories for the first time.

In the future users will be able to let certain groups of friends access different pieces of user generated content like videos and photos.

Search is being simplified with results split into categories like people, music, video and the general web.

Members should also find it easier to play around with the look of their profile pages.

A new editor has launched this week with a point-and-click theme library offering colours, borders and images to choose from.

MySpace claims users with more advanced skills will still be able to get their hands dirty with HTML code if they want to.

Multimedia options

The site's MySpaceTV video player is getting a facelift with support for high definition formats, an improved full-screen mode and simpler controls.

Developers reckon it will be easier for members to embed video in their pages and share it with friends.

"We're now the second biggest video site globally after YouTube," said Anthony Lukom. "So we've just got a responsibility to update our player with the latest technology and that's what we are doing."

Cocaine Jesus

A drug dealer named The Spider is wondering why his Jesus Christ still hasn't appeared in Dallas.

Thanks to an unusual bust by federal agents in Laredo, they're not going to connect.

Drug traffickers mixed as much as six pounds of the illicit white powder into a paste and used it to make a regal statue of the Christian savior, complete with painted-on flowing hair and a gold cape.

Smugglers were likely hoping the statue, which could be worth as much as $30,000 on the streets, would be dismissed by border guards as just another of the hundreds of plaster representations hawked to borderland tourists.

But a dog trained to sniff out drugs confirmed it was anything but another religious memento.

"This seizure shows what extreme measures people will go through to smuggle drugs," Janice Ayala, second-in-command of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement's investigative office in Laredo, said Wednesday.

Earlier this week in the Rio Grande Valley, border inspectors found $10,000 stuffed into a child's bulging diaper.

"These people will use anything, including religious icons to smuggle their drugs," said Steven Robertson, a spokesman for the Drug Enforcement Administration, in Washington. "It is sacrilegious."

Robertson said if the statue had been successfully smuggled, it would likely have been broken apart with water, sifted through a strainer and dried before being bagged and sold to users.

Investigators will likely now run chemical tests to determine what percentage of the statue is cocaine as well as the drug's purity.

There's no way to know if smugglers routinely use the Jesus statue technique, though Robertson said big-time drug dealers would likely consider it too much work for too little profit.

The plot quietly began to unfold last week when the woman who was a passenger in a car driving into the United States said a man told her he had too many things to carry, and would pay her $80 if she'd drop the statue at the Laredo bus station, according to a court document filed Wednesday.

While trying to enter the United States, Customs and Border Patrol inspectors grew suspicious and checked her out.

The woman later said she was unaware the statue was cocaine and took federal agents along for her rendezvous.

After being arrested, the man, 61-year-old Bernardino Garcia-Cordova, admitted the statue was his property, authorities said. Garcia-Cordova, who now faces cocaine importation and possession charges, told investigators a man he knows only by a Spanish nickname, La Araña, or The Spider, told him to take it to Dallas.

In the public hospital of Itaguaí Brasil (RJ) last weekend was born a girl with hands joined together, like one who's praying.

The doctors told the parents that they would operate on the hands of that girl. The operation was easy because they were just one membrane (skin) layer apart.

When they opened up the hands of that child, you can't imagine what was written...

JESUS IS COMING BACK SOON...

The doctors started weeping and all that were in the hospital.

The suburb of Itaguaí is undergoing a movement now,
People that had withdrawn from church are going back and others are receiving Jesus Christ as the only Savior.
God sent that child simply to convey that message.

After a few hours she died.
