Inquiry ... Murphy

T
OPLESS photos of a woman prison officer have been found on an inmates smuggled mobile phone.

Saucy Sarah Murphy and lag David Pearce are alleged to have romped while he was serving five years for causing death by dangerous driving.

Pearce is believed to have taken the snaps and forwarded them to other phones used by prisoners.

The officer, in her 30s, has been suspended pending an inquiry at Ford Open Prison, West Sussex.

Pearce has been moved to the closed Lewes Prison nearby.

Jail governors were shocked when they examined Pearces handset and recognised one of their officers.

An insider said: Weve had problems with phones which are officially banned.

Inmates were locked in their cells and several mobiles were recovered.

The photos show the officer showing off her breasts. When the governors looked more closely they were stunned to see it was one the warders.

It seems she was having a bit of hows your father with the con.

A fortnight ago The Sun revealed Viagra was found in the jail.

Pearce, 24, was jailed in 2005 following the death of a passenger.

Left Hand Apparently Got Caught In Rope

FERGUS FALLS, Minn. -- An 8-year-old champion dirt-bike racer severed four fingers during a tug-of-war game at a charity benefit and is recovering from surgery to reconstruct her lost digits.
Alyssa Martin was at the I-94 BMX track in Fergus Falls on June 20 for a fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Her father, Cameron Martin, is the track's director.
During an intermission, Alyssa Martin was participating in a kids' tug-of-war game. Her left hand apparently got caught in the rope, and the four fingers were severed.

Alyssa has had operations to reconstruct her fingers. Probes in her fingertips are being used to track temperature changes in the damaged limbs.
Cameron Martin said that his daughter, who is right-handed, was moved from intensive care to a pediatric ward Thursday and that she's feeling much better.
"Even though she's going through the pain, as a parent it's almost harder to see her have to go through this. It's really tough," Cameron Martin said.
Brent Schiefert, a family friend, said doctors are optimistic that Alyssa will get a full range of motion back in her fingers but won't know for sure for another six weeks.
The Martins are BMX racers, and Alyssa is ranked eighth in the nation for her age division. Cameron Martin said her goal is to be back racing within two years.
"After they start with the rehab, I don't think it will take that long for her," Cameron Martin said. "The strength and outlook she has is unbelievable for an 8-year-old, and we knew she'd be the same fun, incredible girl no matter what happened."
A group - or maybe even an individual - named Anonymous claimed responsibility for attacks this week that shut down urban music Web sites AllHipHop.com and SOHH.com. When readers logged on to the sites Friday they found fake headlines with racial slurs, doctored photos and foul language. According to the SOHH management, the hackers even made off with some users personal info. Some fear Felicia Palmer, SOHH CEO, said It appears that hackers are specifically targeting Black, Hispanic, Asian and Jewish youth who ascribe to hip hop culture. Other websites, including AllHipHop and Da Piff forums, have also been compromised or threatened this week. The FBI has been called in to investigate the security breaches but insiders in the blogosphere are passing another version of the story around. They claim SOHH and AllHipHop.com users logged on to a hacker Web site and provoked the counter-attack. Stay tuned for more developments in the story.

Dale - Guilty Plea

A man accused of hiding a 6-year-old Brunswick boy's body in a trash bag pleaded guilty Thursday to one count of making a false statement to police.

Donald Dale will be remanded to a psychiatric facility for five years, followed by probation for his part in the slaying of Christopher Barrios in March 2007.

Police said Dale's friend, George Edenfield, and Edenfield's parents sexually assaulted and killed the boy. They said Dale was only involved only after the boy was already dead.

For six days, searchers scoured the woods of South Georgia for any sign of Barrios. His body was finally found in a black bag among some trees and brush just 15 feet from a roadside behind the Glynn County Airport.

"This is one of the most horrific crimes that I have seen in 21 years of prosecutions," Brunswick Circuit District Attorney Stephen Kelly said at the time.

George Edenfield, a convicted sex offender, lived in the same mobile home park as Barrios and across the street from his grandparents. Prosecutors said Edenfield and his father, David, sexually abused the boy while the mother watched.

Peggy Edenfield has since pleaded guilty to murder.

Attorneys for Dale, who originally was charged with concealing a death and tampering with evidence, withdrew from a plea agreement two weeks ago, and a trial was scheduled for next month.

At a motions hearing Thursday, a new indictment was unsealed, and the plea agreement to lying to police was finalized.

Trials for George and David Edenfield have not been scheduled.

Venus Williams at Wimbledon (AP)

WIMBLEDON, England (AP)No slow start for Venus Williams this time.

After struggling in tight first sets in her opening two matches, the defending champion moved quickly to defeat Spanish qualifier Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez 6-1, 7-5 Saturday and advance to the fourth round at Wimbledon.

Williams served out the match at love, finishing with a 127-mph delivery the fastest recorded by a woman at Wimbledonfor her 11th ace.

Yeah, 127 is a good way to end it, said Williams, who holds the WTA Tour record at 129 mph.

The four-time champion was barely tested in the first set by the 101st-ranked player. But Williams was pushed to the limit in the second when Martinez Sanchez switched to an effective serve-and-volley game.

I was very pleased with the performance, the seventh-seeded Williams said. Things got close in the second set. She was really playing well, and I had to come up with something more than she was giving.

Also advancing to the round of 16 was No. 2-seeded Jelena Jankovic, who rallied after dropping the first set and overcame a knee injury to down 17-year-old Danish player Caroline Wozniacki 2-6, 6-4, 6-2 on Centre Court.

Jankovic appeared to hyperextend her left knee while lunging for a shot in the first set and later took an injury timeout to get her knee heavily wrapped. Jankovic plans to have an MRI before facing Tamarine Tanasugarn in the fourth round on Monday.

Its very sore now, she said. I hope for the best so that I will be able to play my next match.

The 25-year-old Martinez Sanchez had never won a Grand Slam singles match until this tournament and looked out of her depth in the first set against the six-time major winner. But the left-hander scored repeatedly with serve-and-volley winners and angled drop shots and drop volleys in the second set.

It was a great strategy, Williams said. In the first set it wasnt working for her from the baseline. I was impressed with the way she changed strategy and made it really competitive in the second.

The Spaniard rallied from 3-1 down to go ahead 5-4 on serve. But she double-faulted on break point to give Williams a 6-5 lead. Williams finished with 33 winners, as well as 10 unforced errors and six double-faults.

She had played erratically in her first two matches against modest British opponents on Centre Court, winning the first set in a tiebreaker against Naomi Cavaday and pressed to 7-5 in the first set against Anne Keothavong.

Williams will next face 18-year-old Russian Alisa Kleybanova, who is into the second week in her Wimbledon debut after defeating Ai Sugiyama 6-4, 6-4.

Jankovic is the highest-ranked player left in the womens draw after the upsets of No. 1 Ana Ivanovic and No. 3 Maria Sharapova. For a while Saturday, she looked in danger of joining them to make it the first time in the Open era that the top three seeded women failed to make the fourth round at a Grand Slam.

I was thinking maybe Im the next one, Jankovic said.

Jankovic limped through the third set, but still dropped only two games to close out the match as Wozniacki committed unforced errors on key points. Jankovic complained that the leg wrap was too tight and had the trainer remove it after the fifth game.

AP - Jun 28, 2:05 pm EDT

The physio said I probably strained it, Jankovic said. She taped it but I couldnt move itIm not used to it. I took a risk to play without the tape, which the physio was not happy about, but I had to do what I had to do.

French Open runnerup Dinara Safina struggled with a thigh injury and lost to Shahar Peer of Israel 7-5, 6-7 (4), 8-6 in a 3 hour, 25-minute match. Safina was up a break in the final set but, after receiving treatment, lost the lead and failed to serve out for the match. She was in tears during the final game and could only serve at half speed.

Other women advancing to the round of 16 Saturday were fifth-seeded Elena Dementieva, No. 21 Nadia Petrova and 154th-ranked Alla Kudryavtseva, who followed her upset of former champion Marion Sharapova by beating Chinas Peng Shuai 6-3, 1-6, 6-4.

Mens winners included No. 8 Richard Gasquet, No. 12 Andy Murray, Janko Tipsarevic, Arnaud Clement and Rainer Schuettler, the oldest player left in the draw at 32. Murray, carrying Britains perennial hopes for a first homegrown male champion since 1936, had 15 aces in a 6-4, 6-7 (4), 6-3, 6-2 win over Tommy Haas.

The tournament has been jolted by a series of early upsets that have decimated the seeding lists.

Six of the top-10 seeded men have been knocked out so far before the fourth round: No. 3 Novak Djokovic, No. 4 Nikolay Davydenko, No. 5 Ferrer, No. 6 Andy Roddick, No. 7 David Nalbandian and No. 9 James Blake.

Nadal, who lost to Federer in the last two finals, was paired against Nicolas Kiefer.

Roger Federers next opponent is 2002 champion Lleyton Hewittthe last man to win the title before the Swiss star began his run of five straight championships.

AUSTELL, Ga. (June 28) - A teenager was killed at the Six Flags Over Georgia on Saturday when he hopped a pair of fences into a restricted area and was struck by the theme park's popular Batman roller coaster, authorities said.

Local NBC affiliate WXIA reported on it's Web site 11Alive.com that the boy was decapitated around 2:30 p.m. The coaster can travel as fast as 50 miles per hour.

Park spokeswoman Hela Sheth said in a news release the 17-year-old scaled two six-foot fences that were clearly marked with signs that read "Danger" and "Do Not Enter."

"We do not know why this person was intent on gaining access to this restricted area," Sheth said. She did not identify the teenager.

"Some witnesses have stated that the individual was trying to retrieve something he had lost. Others reported that he was trying to touch the ride. This is merely speculation at this point, and we are working with park visitors and local police to learn more."

She said no guests on the ride were injured.

Cobb County police were investigating the incident on Saturday. They did not immediately return a phone call seeking comment.

Three security guards were keeping visitors away from the coaster ride on Saturday.

A teenager's legs were severed when cables snapped on the Superman Tower of Power ride at Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom in Louisville in June 2007. Doctors were able to reattach Kaitlyn Lasitter's right foot, but she had to have some of her left leg amputated and subsequent surgeries.

State officials blame a faulty cable and slow response by an amusement park ride operator in the accident. Her family is suing Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom, claiming the park failed to maintain the ride and equipment and ensure riders' safety. The amusement park has denied liability in court filings.

Cops warn go-go club owners

June 28, 2008
Started By linko11 Comments

The St Catherine police are issuing a stern warning to all exotic club operators in the parish to ensure that all their employees have reached the legal age of employment or be prepared to face the con-sequence.

Speaking with The Star yesterday, Superintendent Ter-rence Bent, head of the St Catherine North police, said the police have already had meetings with various night/ exotic club operators about the illegality of employing underage girls, and any operator found in breach will be prosecuted.

birth certificates needed

"We have had public education sessions with the club operators and we informed them that anyone seeking employment at their clubs must present them with a authentic birth certificate showing that they have reached the legal age of employment," the officer said. "The law prohibits children from being employed, more so in industries that will negatively affect their morals or otherwise harm them."

Superintendent Bent said the move by the police to sensitise the club owners about the law surrounding the employment of persons under 18 years was fuelled by reports they received earlier this month that a certain club operator in Portmore, St Catherine had employed an underage teen to dance at his exotic club. He said visits to the location turned up nothing.

In 2004 police raided the Las Giddy exotic club on Port Henderson Road and took two 16-year-old exotic dancers into their custody.

police on the ball

Deputy Superintendent Deu-tress Foster-Gardener, head of the Old Harbour police, said while there have not been any cases of that sort in Old Harbour, the police have 'been on the ball', hoping to keep things that way. She noted that any breach of the law in this regard would be dealt with to the fullest extent of the law.

A story published in The Star earlier this month, reported that a 16-year-old teenager, working as an exotic dancer, was arrested following the stabbing death of her 21-year-old co-worker at the establishment in Clarendon. The May Pen police said the owner of that club was also implicated in a previous matter where another underage girl was employed at the same club.

A club owner found guilty of employing a juvenile can be fined as much as $1 million and/or at least a year's imprisonment.
Miss Jones

Hot 97 announced the cancellation of its long-running and often controversial show "Miss Jones in the Morning." As early as July 21st, the show's "AM Drive" time slot will now be split between two shows with a national following.
In a statement issued by the station's parent company Emmis Communications, listeners in the New York Tri-State area tuning in at 5am will catch Cipha Sounds and Rosenberg, which currently airs on Saturday and Sunday mornings. With co-host Peter Rosenberg having gained his popularity conducting interviews on YouTube, the show continues to enjoy a strong online presence. That popularity is boosted by Cipha Sounds' history in New York and status as an MTV personality.

At 7am, Rosenberg will sign off, leaving Cipha Sounds to pair up with the nationally syndicated "Big Boy's Neighborhood. The Los Angeles-based show, which once aired in New York on rival station Power 105.1 FM, signed a multi-year syndication deal with ABC Radio Networks.

"This provides a very special AM show with both local and national talent with less edge, a little more celebrity, and a whole lot of entertainment," the statement proclaims.

The move comes as Emmis prepares to test Aribtron's newest radio research: the Portable People Meter. The PPM system will track the listening behavior and history of each person studied by having each of them where a small device that will record the information. The data created is used as the currency stations use to buy and sell radio advertising.

How closely do you follow the rules at work? Some officials are outraged by the actions of a bus driver in Corsicana, Texas, who may have taken the phrase "by the book" a bit too far. Or in this case, not quite far enough.

It happened Thursday when a driver was ferrying released and paroled prisoners onboard a chartered Greyhound bus to a terminal in Dallas. As the clock struck 4pm, the woman behind the wheel checked her watch, pulled over to a convenience store about 100 kilometres from her destination and promptly told her 40 passengers that her shift was over and someone else would be coming to take them the rest of the way.

She then got off the giant vehicle and walked away. A stunned clerk inside the store saw what was happening and called police. They couldn't quite believe it, either. "In 31 years in law enforcement I've never seen anything like this," concurs Corsicana Police Sgt. Lamoin Lawhon.

Authorities called Greyhound and the prison and two officers were immediately dispatched to watch the former captives on board. When they arrived they found the prisoners, some wearing ankle monitoring bracelets, milling around the vehicle, trying to figure out what to do.

Four hours later, another bus finally rolled up to the small outpost in the middle of nowhere, carrying three bus drivers. To add insult to injury, the woman who originally left her post was among them.

Greyhound officials note their drivers do have strict guidelines about work and rest periods to ensure safety, and they're probing what happened in this case. A spokesman calls it a 'very serious matter.'

And as for the prisoners? Cops say they acted more responsibly than the driver who abandoned them. "Their behavior was exemplary," assess Officer Travis Wallace.

This release was sent to the offices of 876radio.com by D'Angel and members of the management team and it read, "D'Angel wishes to advise the public that her office has no record of any booking for Saturday June 28. Neither herself nor anyone associated with her camp have had any conversations agreeing to a performance. D'Angel apologizes to all her loyal fans who may have been misled by advertising that she was to perform at 'Spiritual Togetherness' in St Ann on Saturday June 28. However, she assures her fans that this situation is no fault of hers and can look forward to seeing her this summer at various events both locally and overseas".

Who killed JUTC boss?

June 29, 2008

Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) chairman Douglas Chambers' murder was supposedly ordered and carried out by members of Spanish Town's notorious Klansman gang, highly reliable sources in that violence-plagued town have told the Sunday Observer.

According to our sources, whom we will not name, one of the two gunmen who fired at least 15 shots at Chambers on Friday afternoon is a member of the Klansman gang whose name was on a list of JUTC workers to be made redundant.

"He found out that his name was on the list and went and got approval to kill Mr Chambers," said the source.

Yesterday, when the Sunday Observer contacted the police, they were unable to confirm the source's claim, offering only that they were looking into all the leads they have received.

"There are a number of leads and we are ensuring that all leads are checked before a formal announcement is made," said Karl Angell, the constabulary's director of communication. "A number of statements have been taken and we are encouraged by the information received so far."

He appealed to anyone with information to tell the police what they know by calling Operation Kingfish at 811; Crime Stop at 311; or police control at 119.

Yesterday, as well, National Security Minister Colonel Trevor MacMillan said he had been informed by Police Commissioner Rear Admiral Hardley Lewin that people in the town have been helping police investigators.

"The police commissioner has told me that people in the area have been very co-operative and the matter should come to finality very shortly." MacMillan said in the opening remarks of his address to the Lay Magistrates Association at the Medallion Hall Hotel in St Andrew.

"Douglas Chambers was serving his country for the love of his country. He gave his life for the love of his country." MacMillan said.

Chambers, whom a JUTC worker had threatened to shoot three weeks ago, had taken a break from a meeting at the state-owned bus company's head office at Twickenham Park, just outside Spanish Town, when he was shot.

He was meeting with trade union representatives to discuss the cutting of over 400 jobs at the debt-ridden bus company and, sources say, had gone outside the compound to smoke a cigarette.

According to our sources, the killers, aided by a third man who served as a look-out, were waiting across the street when Douglas exited the JUTC compound.

Police said Douglas, who was sent to the JUTC to clean up corruption and make the company profitable, was shot repeatedly in the head by the two gunmen, one of whom was armed with a high-powered rifle. The other had a .45 handgun.

After committing the murder, the killers escaped in bushes on the outskirts of a community known as 'Fish Ground', a volatile informal settlement which is fiercely loyal to the Klansman gang, a criminal outfit that supports the Opposition People's National Party (PNP).

Police detectives said they found eight .45 spent shells and seven .30 Carbine S & D spent shells on the scene.

Since the early 1990s when it was formed, the Klansman gang has unleashed terror on Spanish Town and has fought deadly street battles with its arch rival, the One Order gang, which supports the ruling Jamaica Labour Party.

Both gangs have benefitted from a lucrative extortion racket in the town and have fought for control of the bus park where they force bus and taxi operators to pay them a fee.

Police blame both gangs for a number of murders and other violent crimes in Spanish Town and had charged Klansman leader Tesha Miller with four counts of murder and three counts of shooting in 2005.

However, Miller absconded bail and fled to the United States, but was deported last year. He was convicted for absconding bail and served nine months.

Miller has been before the courts since then for the original charges, but has been granted bail for the murder charges with specific conditions attached to the bail.

He is said to be at bitter odds with Donald Brown, also known as Negush and Handsome, whom the police have listed as "a Major Person of Interest".

Police have linked Brown to several murders and shootings in the Waterloo, Waterloo Villa, Tredegar Park, Gravel Hill, and Lauriston areas off the Sligoville Road, near to Spanish Town. Brown, who the police say is considered armed and dangerous, is approximately 23 years old, about 5 feet 9 inches tall, is of slim build, weighs about 160 lbs and is of dark complexion.

Brown is the brother of Wayne Dawson, also known as Waynie Bones, who escaped from prison while serving a sentence for murder. Dawson was shot dead by the police in what the cops said was a firefight at Queen Hill in St Andrew recently.

Brown is also the brother of Steve Creary, who was killed recently by unknown assailants in the Spanish Town bus park.

All three brothers were members of the Klansman gang, but following the incarceration of Dawson they switched allegiance to the One Order gang because of a dispute involving former Klansman leader Donovan 'Bulbie' Bennett and Dawson.

Bennett was killed by the police in 2005.

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- A group of bikers were critically injured Saturday when they were hit head-on by a motorist as they traveled to a funeral.
Florida troopers said the group was traveling on Orange Blossom Trail and Old Tampa Highway near Intercession City when they were hit by the vehicle.
The injured bikers were members of the Outlaw motorcycle group, a family member said.

Witnesses described the scene as something like a demolition derby.
Nine of the bikers were injured, four critically, police said.
The driver of a Hyundai sedan, Tom Romeo, apparently suffered a seizure and veered into oncoming traffic.
Romeo suffered minor injuries.
An investigation into the crash continues.
Cuban health authorities have approved the use of what is believed to be the world's first registered therapeutic lung cancer vaccine.

Unlike chemotherapy, the prevalent treatment for cancer, the new vaccine CimaVax EGF has no side effects. Though the vaccine does not prevent lung cancer, it has been shown to boost survival rates by an average of four to five months, and in some cases much longer.

Dr. Gisela Gonzalez, head of the team that researched and developed the drug through testing with hundreds of patients over 16 years, said the proteins in the vaccine work by selectively attacking cancer cells, slowing the growth rate of tumors. It also builds patients' immune systems and reduces symptoms such as shortness of breath and appetite loss.

The drug is in various clinical trials, some in Canada and Britain, and is expected to be approved next in Peru. Patients from all over the world will be able to travel to Cuba for CimaVax EGF treatment. While testing has been approved by the U.S. government, clinical studies may not begin for at least two years.

In the Phase II trials, those given the vaccine lived on average 11.47 months compared to 5.33 months for terminal patients treated with only chemotherapy and/or radiation. Some of the patients also lived for up to 18.53 months while taking the new vaccine, compared to other patients who lived for just 7.55 months while undergoing conventional treatment.

Lung cancer generally affects people over 50 who have a history of smoking, although other risk factors include exposure to second hand tobacco smoke or pollutant emissions from cars or factories. The disease claims over 1.3 million deaths worldwide annually, with the highest rates in the United States, Canada and Europe.

Newsweek is set to publish a highly embarra**ing report on Sen. John McCain, revealing that the McCains have failed to pay taxes on their beach-front condo in La Jolla, California, for the last four years and are currently in default, The Huffington Post has learned. Under California law, once a residential property is in default for five years, it can be sold at a tax sale to recover the unpaid taxes for the taxpayers. The McCains own at least seven homes through a variety of trusts and corporations controlled by Cindy McCain. UPDATE: Newsweek's story is now online. The report notes that the McCains paid the bulk of their back taxes yesterday, but continue to owe additional taxes: When you're poor, it can be hard to pay the bills. When you're rich, it's hard to keep track of all the bills that need paying. It's a lesson Cindy McCain learned the hard way when NEWSWEEK raised questions about an overdue property-tax bill on a La Jolla, Calif., property owned by a trust that she oversees. Mrs. McCain is a beer heiress with an estimated $100 million fortune and, along with her husband, she owns at least seven properties, including condos in California and Arizona. [...] Shortly after NEWSWEEK inquired about the matter, the McCain aide e-mailed a receipt dated Friday, June 27, confirming payment by the trust to San Diego County in the amount of $6,744.42. County officials say the trust still owes an additional $1,742 for this year, an amount that is overdue and will go into default July 1. Told of the outstanding $1,742, the aide said: "The trust has paid all bills shown owing as of today and will pay all other bills due."

McCain Gambles with Awkward Joke June 27, 2008 7:38 AM In an interview with the Las Vegas Sun, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., was asked by columnist Jon Ralston why he didn't choose Gov. Jim Gibbons to chair his Nevada campaign. "I appreciate his support," McCain said. "As you know, the lieutenant governor is our chairman." Why snub the governor? Ralston asked. "I didnt mean to snub him,. I've known the lieutenant governor for 15 years and we've been good friends," McCain said. "I didn't intend to snub him. There are other states where the governor is not the chairman." Maybe it's the governor's approval rating and you are running from him like you are from the president? Asked Ralston in a question McCain clearly found loaded. Said McCain, chuckling, "And I stopped beating my wife just a couple of weeks ago." Some have found the subject of McCain's joke -- wife-beating -- inappropriate. To be clear, McCain was alluding to the fictitious leading question "When did you stop beating your wife, senator?" It's a bit of distasteful DC yuckery so commonly quoted it's hackneyed. But considering the subject McCain was discussing at the time, to allude to that joke was, well, .....awkward! Gov. Gibbons last month filed for divorce from his wife Dawn citing incompatiblity. It's pretty scandalous. The Reno Gazette-Journal recently reported that one month Gibbons sent 860 text messages to a woman with whome Mrs. Gibbons suspects her husband of stepping out. Gibbons you may recall started his governorship amidst accusations that he assaulted a cocktail waitress named Chrissy Mazzeo three weeks before Election Day. Mazzeo said Gibbons grabbed her in a parking garage and threatened to sexually assault her. Charges were never filed. Might want to scratch that joke from the schtick, senator, especially in Nevada.

Which look good..?

Cant quit your ex? How to say goodbye for good

Youre better off alone! Dont get stuck in a make up/break up pattern

The beginning of summer is always ripe with barbecues, graduations and weddings. Although these get-togethers often happily reunite us with family and friends, they also tend to unhappily reunite us with our exes of yesteryear. Indeed, even with all we have learned from painful breakups, some of us simply cannot resist the temptation of reconnecting with an old flame. And when that old flame is front row and center at a mutual friends wedding, the temptation becomes even more irresistible.

If this pattern of making up and breaking up sounds familiar to you, you might be part of a revolving-door relationship. Much like a revolving door, your relationship with your ex is never stagnant he is always on the way into your heart or on the way out.

Your family and friends have heard the many dramas of your relationship with your ex more times than they would like to count, and although you know you sound like a broken record, something always pulls you back into the relationship. The revolving door whooshes again, and you are back in the middle of the broken (and breaking) relationship.

How can you stop this pattern once and for all, especially in the middle of summer social activities?

Change your pattern. When relationships get stuck in a revolving rut, it is generally because our lives are stuck in a revolving rut. By changing your routine, you can change your point of view and end a make-up and break-up cycle. How can you do this? Explore different activities, go to new restaurants, spend time with old friends, or even go on a much-needed vacation. Figure out what is keeping your life in stalemate (chances are that it isnt just your relationship) and then make a change.

Figure out why you are relying on a broken relationship. You know that your ex isnt good for you, and you know that you arent good for your ex. So why do you keep returning to each other? Dont fool yourself into thinking that love alone is driving your revolving door, as there are generally a myriad of different emotions driving your decision process. Figuring out these emotions and deciphering what is truly driving you to be in a broken relationship will help you stop the destructive pattern.

Sit down and write down the emotions that come to your mind when you think about breaking up with your ex for good. Whether you are jealous at the thought of seeing your ex with someone new, nostalgic at the thought of losing a close friend, or terrified at the thought of being alone and dating again, you might be surprised to discover that your list isnt built upon love alone. Of course, all of the above emotions are valid and sincere emotions but that doesnt mean that you can build a loving, lasting relationship upon them.

Talk about it with a professional. Breakups are often seen as something most people can make it through on their own. However, most people tend to assuage their broken hearts through self-medicating with destructive behaviors like drinking, one-night stands, angry late-night phone calls to their ex, etc. Losing someone you love through a breakup or a divorce is heartbreaking, and trying to go it alone can be overwhelming. This is why so many people get stuck in a revolving-door cycle, as being alone can be so painful that people would rather be in a bad relationship. A counselor can help you make smarter choices, and give you what you need the most: an unbiased listener.

Finally, it might be helpful to keep two lists on hand with you at all times one list to remind you why the relationship cant work (he doesnt want kids, you dont share similar life goals, etc.), and one list to remind you why you are content and complete as you are (you love the freedom to meet new people, you have a wonderful network of friends and family, etc.).

Rely on this network as you go through this difficult time, and allow yourself the freedom to be sad, mad, lonely and so on. As the emotions move through you, they will slowly lose their potency, and you will be ready to say goodbye to your ex and move on to a happy, healthy new relationship.

Time travel could be possible in months

Russian scientists have claimed that time travel could take place this year as an inadvertent by-product of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) run by Cern.

Mathematicians Irina Aref'eva and Igor Volovich said that when the LHC begins to smash atoms into each other the conditions will be perfect to open a wormhole into the distant future.

"Proton-proton collisions at the LHC could lead to the formation of time machines (space-time regions with closed time-like curves) which violate causality," said the scientists in a research paper.

"One model for the time machine is a traversable wormhole. We argue that the traversable wormhole production cross section at the LHC is of the same order as the cross section for black hole production."

The other possibility, according to the mathematicians, is that miniature black holes will be formed under the French and Swiss countryside.

However, if the time machine hypothesis is correct we will not be seeing visitors from the future because the wormholes will be barely larger than atoms.

The LHC is the world's largest scientific instrument, consisting of a 27km loop 100 metres under the French and Swiss countryside. It is due to go live later this year.

BET Loses Sponsorship Over Content

June 29, 2008

Anthony Springer JrBET suffered another setback this week when several advertisers pulled spots from popular network programs due to images of violence and profanity.
According to Paul Porter of media watchdog group, Industry Ears and CNN, Proctor and Gamble, Pepsi and General Motors pulled their ads from Rap City and 106 & Park after the companies viewed The Rap on Rap, a content analysis of BET and MTV programming.
The study found that children were exposed to violence, profanity or obscenity once every 38 seconds.
According to a CNN report, BET Chairman and CEO, Debra Lee dismissed the study, saying the network pays attention to the content it airs and edits videos.
Its geared for kids but the content is for adults, Porter told HipHopDX. Thats what the study shows.
Porter also asserts that responsibility for monitoring content should not solely rest on parents of minors. The standard excuse is about parents, but theres supposed to be corporate responsibility too.
He goes on to add that the images of black people on networks like BET effect more than just the young people exposed to the content. Were the only ones presented like this in the world. It effects you globally, on your job, with the police.
While Portera former media executive himselfis a harsh critic of the network, he is not without solutions for the Viacom network.
Balance, he says of the solution, adding that every video shown does not have to be about violence, sex, or materialism.
Weve been stuck on this fake gangster stuff. Black people have so many different shades and nobody is talking about lifting each other up.
From talking to Porter, its clear that his agenda is not geared toward outright censorship, but more about common sense.
I listen to the same crazy shit in my car, he says before adding, but Im not going to play it for a nine-year-old.

Fi all a di tugz dem who don't feel comfortable bending and picking up the soap while showering (tubs only).

All you av to do is, go as far as possible to the end with the pipes facing the back of the shower. The back end of the tub should av a slight 100 to 120 degree slant. This allows it to act as ramp instead of a 90 degee vertical wall. What u want to do is ,kick the soap almost as hard as possible (with your foot already close to the soap and not  enough room to swing, it should be safe to kick real hard). The soap shoud slide up the back end of the tub, ricochet off the wall and BAM!! you can catch it standing at ur full height, no bending required.

How To Make The Adaptation

To be used as CD player, the CD-ROM drive doesn't need to be connected to the computer. This way, it is possible to easily transform a CD-ROM drive into a Car CD player. Sounds crazy? Not so. With this tutorial you will be able to have a CD player in your car without spending almost anything.

The CD-ROM drive to be use may be of any type, from the first models ("1x") until the most modern ones ("60x"). The only prerequisite is that the drive needs to have is an earphone plug and volume control. And practically all CD-ROM drives have that.

There are two great advantages in transforming a CD-ROM drive into a Car CD player. First, who will want to break your car window to take CD-ROM drive? And, secondly, since any type of CD-ROM drive can be used, you may take an old drive that is just dusting away in your house (for instance, a 2x drive from an old 386 computer), which brings the cost down to almost nothing.

To install a CD-ROM drive in the car, you will need a female power plug, to be used to fit into CD-ROM drive power plug (that plug can be cut from an old power supply) and a voltage regulating integrated circuit called 7805, that may be easily found at electronic parts stores. You will also have to buy a heat dissipator for the 7805 (sold at the same store).

The car battery is a 12 V one, but the CD-ROM drive needs two voltages to work: 12 V and 5 V. The 7805 circuit is able to convert a 12 V voltage into 5 V (its pin 1 is for the input, its pin 2 is the grounding, and its pin 3 is the 5 V exit). Figure 1 shows the plan for the connection. The grounding pin should be connected to the wires of the plug grounding and the negative pole of the car battery, what is done by simply connecting that pin to the metallic body of the car.

03.jpg
Figure 1: CD-ROM adaptor schematics.

All you have to do is to make the connections shown in the above schematics (don't forget to isolate all connections with insulating tape) and you are set: you will have a CD-ROM drive working as CD player in your car.

The audio output will be made using the earphone plug. To listen to a CD, you will have to use earphones. To have the sound come through the speakers of the car, you will have to buy an amplifier with RCA inputs and a stereo P2 (mini jack) x stereo RCA cable (the same type of cable used to connect Discman units to amplifiers). The stereo P2 plug (also known as mini jack), which is the one used for the earphones, should be fit at the earphone output of the CD-ROM drive, while the RCA plugs should be fit at the input of the amplifier. The volume control will be made using the volume control in the CD-ROM drive.

A last warning: in most CD-ROM drives, the reproduction button (play) and the advance button (skip) are on the same key. In other words, to skip a track, all you have to do is to press the play button.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the CD-ROM drive in use as a car CD player reproduce MP3 files?
No. If not connected to a computer, the CD-ROM drive will only work to play audio CDs. Music CDs in the MP3 format are recorded in the CD-ROM format. To read it, the unit forcibly needs to be connected to a computer. MP3 songs are not played by the CD-ROM drive, but rather by the sound card of the computer, and the machine processor is responsible for transforming the MP3 format into an audio format.

Car CD players that play MP3 have a dedicated processor capable of reading the CD-ROM format and of converting MP3 files into audio ones. Since the common CD-ROM drive doesn't have such processor, it can not play MP3 files.

the same adaptation be made so CDs may be played in a domestic sound system?

Yes. To do so, the sound system must have an auxiliary input channel. However, to prevent the sound from getting distorted, you will have to use the audio output at the back of the CD-ROM drive and nor the earphone output, as mentioned last week.

To do this, you will have to take the audio output cable from the CD-ROM drive and solder two RCA plugs - a black or white one (left channel) and a red or yellow one (right channel) at the end that should be connected to the sound card of the computer.

If you don't know how to do that, contact an electronics technician. To feed the CD-ROM drive you may use a power source from an old PC. One important detail: AT power sources have an on-off switch, but the ATX ones don't.

If you will use an ATX power source, you will have to make a pin-14 connection (green wire), from the main plug of the source to any black wire to turn it on.
Won't the CD oscillate too much?

That will depend on the unit used (its manufacturer and model). Of course you cannot expect a CD-ROM drive to have the same stability of a car CD player. Remember that our tip is to assemble a car CD player spending nothing (or almost nothing). If you used our tip it is because you are possibly not willing to buy a car CD player.

Why should the connection between the CD-ROM unit and the amplifier be made using the ear phone output and not the one at the back of the unit?

That is because car amplifiers don't usually have volume control. If you use the output at the back of the CD-ROM drive which doesn't have volume control either the sound from the amplifier will always be at its loudest. We believe that this is not convenient.

If you should use the output at the back of the CD-ROM drive only if you are to connect it to a pre-amplifier, equalizer, mixer, or home sound system, since they have volume control.

876radio.com has just learnt that Dancehall selector, Foota Hype whose real nane is Oneil Thomas, today walked free from the confines of the Gun Court after he was cleared of gun related charges. Last year the popular selector was charged by members of the Constant Spring Police division after a he was seen acting suspicious in the Cassava Piece community. A search was conducted and revealed a 9mm pistol which lead to his arrest. According to Hypes' legal team the lawmen who arrested him on the day in question are now before the courts facing murder charges and hence they could not be placed on the stand as credible witnesses. This was concurred by Government Prosecutors and was sited as grounds for the dismissal of the charges. The selector who continues to plea his innocence said that the pistol in question was planted in his vehicle and does not belong to him.

Talk about opening up old woundsJ Lo is being forced to testify in the infamous night club shooting case against Diddy:

Jennifer Lopez has been subpoenaed to testify in a lawsuit filed against hip-hop mogul Sean C****s over his involvement in a 1999 New York club shooting. The Latina was dating C****s at the time of the incident, and was present at the now-defunct Club New York when shots were fired in the venue on 27 December 1999, injuring two people.
C****s rap protege Shyne, real name Jamal Barrow, is currently serving a 10-year jail term after he was found guilty of assault, reckless endangerment and gun possession in the trial following the shooting. The rap heavyweight was arrested for various charges including weapons violations, but was acquitted of all counts.

However, both C****s and Shyne are currently fighting a $130 million (GBP65 million) civil suit filed by victim Natania Reuben, who was shot in the face during the incident.
C****s completed his deposition in the case in March (08), but now Lopez must reveal all she knows at an upcoming deposition after being served by Reubens lawyers last week (ends20Jun08). She was not called as a witness in the 2001 criminal trial and split from C****s shortly afterwards.
A judge will soon be required to decide whether Shyne acted alone or as part of C****s Bad Boy collective - the record label the hip-hop giant founded in 1993 - before the case goes to trial.
If both C****s and Shyne are required to stand trial, it will be up to a jury to decide who should take responsibility for the shooting.
Shyne, who did not testify during the criminal trial, may be required to take the stand and testify about the incident. He is currently incarcerated at the Clinton Correctional Facility in New York State, and could be released as early as next year (09).

Police say a New York man cut a hole in a woman's couch and hid in the carved-out space until she came home. Newburgh police said the woman sat on the couch Wednesday evening and felt a bump in the cushions move.

She jumped up and David Joe Limones emerged from his hiding place, knocking a cell phone out of her hand.

The woman was on the phone with a friend when she entered her apartment because she had filed an earlier complaint against Limones and was worried he might be there. Police said she had asked the friend to stay on the line and call police if something went wrong.

When officers arrived, they found Limones and the 22-year-old woman arguing on the apartment's balcony.

Limones, 27, faces burglary and other charges. He is being held on $20,000 bail.

County officials, including those at the public defenders office and the sheriff's department, were unable to provide the name of Limones' lawyer.

I don't know let me know please

The movie is called Wanted and the star is Angelina Jolie. No, it is not a documentary.

It is, in fact, a super-stylised, wildly outlandish action flick that will pick you up, throw you around, drop you back down on the ground and leave you begging for more. It's the ideal, mindless summer thrill ride - one you can never take too seriously, even when it starts to take itself too seriously.

Based on the graphic novels by Mark Millar and J.G. Jones, Wanted follows the unlikely transformation of Wesley Gibson (the increasingly versatile James McAvoy) from miserable cubicle dweller to master assassin. When we first meet him, he's being berated yet again by his obnoxious hag of a boss. If you know anything about anything, you know that in a fantasy world like this, she will surely get hers in the end.

Introduction to fraternity

Jolie, as the appropriately named Fox, yanks Wesley from his dreary life and introduces him to The Fraternity, a secret society of freakishly skilled, highly trained killers, of whom his recently murdered father, the man he never knew, was the best of the best. They've been around for 1,000 years and, as their cover, they work in a textile mill. Because no one would ever suspect that.

Kazakhstan-born director Timur Bekmambetov clearly had a blast emptying his own clip of film-making tricks - sped-up sequences, slo-mo, curving bullets that defy the laws of physics. And he serves up one tremendous car chase that will make you apprehensive about driving through Chicago anytime soon.

Butt-kicking mode

When things finally reach their breathless conclusion, not a hair is out of place in Jolie's perfect, sexy twist. She's back in butt-kicking Mrs Smith mode, lethal but cheeky. The diminutive McAvoy, meanwhile, maintains much of the underdog likability we saw from him in the underappreciated coming-of-age comedy Starter for 10, but it's obvious he's had a few visits with a personal trainer. (It seems the Scottish actor has also seen a dialect coach, and has come back with a solid American accent.)

Sure, you've seen plenty of this type of amped-up nonsense before - in the Matrix series, or in last summer's ultraviolent Shoot 'Em Up, which was just as elaborately cho-reographed and edited but felt like more of an onslaught. That doesn't make Wanted any less enjoyable.

And, certainly, you could have a philosophical debate about the merits of The Fraternity's purpose - to kill people who were fated to do evil deeds anyway. But that would needlessly tax your brain, and there's no room for that now. Just sit down, shut up and hold on.

Wanted, a Universal Pictures release, runs 110 minutes. Three stars out of four.

AN UNFIT mother was jailed for 18 months yesterday for abandoning her toddler son like a dog for a weekend as she went partying.

Callous Kelly Tollerton, 22, left the two-year-old to scavenge for food in a filthy kitchen while she was out with a man almost twice her age.

She showed no emotion as a judge told her she was not a fit and proper mother.

Mr Recorder William Harbage QC said: It defies belief anyone could treat a child in that way. Your treatment of your son was despicable and disgraceful.

Squalor

The judge said she was not stupid but selfish, lazy and more concerned with her social life.

Tollerton had wept at an earlier Lincoln Crown Court hearing when she was convicted of cruelty and perverting justice.

Shocked cops found her son shaking, sobbing and surrounded by squalor in her Lincoln flat after neighbours spotted flooding from an overflowing sink.

The judge said it was a great pity social services, who saw the child as a baby, had ended their involvement with him.

An inquiry into that decision has begun.

A TEENAGE mugger punched a man unconscious to steal his gold chain then left him to die in the street.

Talos Miller, 19, boasted to pals he would get the necklace after seeing Dave Stimpson, 39, wearing it in a pub.

He followed the carpenter on his way home, hit him, rifled his pockets then put the chain around his own neck.

Dave was left in a pool of *lo** in freezing weather.

Passing an indefinite sentence at Leicester Crown Court, Mr Justice Treacy branded Miller, of Nottingham, a violent young predator.

He told the thug, who admitted manslaughter, to serve 3˝ years before his term is reviewed.

Daves aunt Cheryl Stimpson later said: He died because of greed.
