All that glitters ...
Movie title: Fool's Gold
Genre: Romantic comedic intrigue
Run time: 112 minutes
If you're into buried treasure, exotic locations and romantic intrigue, then Fool's Gold is for you.
Set in Key West, The Bahamas, the movie is about a recently divorced couple who fight their way through an adventure-packed deep sea treasure hunt.
still in love
The story tells the tale of Ben 'Finn' Finnegan (Matthew McConaughey) who is still in love with ex-wife Tess (Kate Hudson), while they scour the ocean floor for the legendary Queen's Dowry - 40 chests of exotic treasure - lost at sea in 1715.
After eight years of searching, Finn finally discovers a vital clue as to the whereabouts of the treasure. But it is not that easy. Finn is deeply indebted to a gangster - Bigg Bunny - who wants his money and who is also searching for the treasure. This makes the treasure hunt all the more intriguing.
deception
Finn, with a little deception, 'encourages' billionaire Nigel Honeycutt (Donald Sutherland) and his daughter to help with his quest. This unlikely bunch is thrown together for the ride of their lives.
However, all that glitters is not gold and that aptly describes Fool's Gold.
The movie takes awhile to grab you and suddenly after, the plot quickly unravels.
There is also the nuisance of unnecessary characters and scenes. All in all, not a bad effort on the part of the film-makers.
I'd give this moviestars based on its healthy dose of laughter and the crazy things people do for love.
876radio.com understands that a statue of late great Jamaican reggae legend Bob Marley will be erected in the tiny Serbian hamlet of Banatski Sokolac, organisers of a rock music festival there said yesterday. It will be the first monument in Europe of Marley according to the Internet site of the "Rock Village" festival. "Our village thus enters into history and supporters and all those who respect this 'liberty fighter armed with a guitar' can take part in the unveiling ceremony" on August 23, it added. Last year, two other Serbian villages put up statues of Johnny Weissmuller, the late actor famed for his role as "Tarzan", and Sylvester Stallone's famous film character "Rocky Balboa". The rock festival, first held in the northeastern village in 2005, will be opened by Del Arno Band, one of the most influential reggae groups in the Balkans, and Jamaican act Ras Abraham & the Irie Vibes. |

Be careful if you have saggy pants in the south Chicago suburb of Lynwood. Village leaders have passed an ordinance that would levy $25 fines against anyone showing three inches or more of their underwear in public.
The desperate 12-year-old begged depressed Veronica Bell to think of his two little sisters after she jumped down on to the track at a station.
He had raced to find her on his bike after discovering a suicide note at home.
It is believed the lad talked her into changing her mind.
Veronica, 41, dodged one train, but did not realise another was coming the other way.
As the mum of seven tried to return to the platform she was killed instantly by the 9.14am Sheffield to Manchester train.
The driver blew his horn and slammed on the brakes 100 yards away, but was still doing 50mph at Belle Vue station, Manchester.
He was treated for shock.
The unnamed boys older brother Chris Clark, 19, said: One train came but she couldnt do it. He was talking to her.
"She told him she was scared and it seemed she was going to get on the platform. She had put her bag back up.
Then another train came. She looked round and screamed.
"My brother is traumatised.
The lads father Alan Bell said: This tragedy has had a devastating effect on the family.

Her note told her children she loved them and added: I am going soon.
Police are investigating
Since early this morning the streets have been buzzing with one big question on the minds of many Dancehall followers. Who took Sumfest Dancehall Night, who Shot and who Flopped? Firstly let's look at the main contenders we have the Dancehall Doctor Beenie Man, the Warlord Bounty Killer, Dancehalls' fastest rising Bad Boy Mavado, the Portmore Emperor Vybz Kartel with Assassin, Anthony B, Bugle and Serani completing the list. Fear not 876radio.com was in the house and here's how it all unfolded. Who took Dancehall Night?, Well it was a close race between the the Dancehall doctor Beenie and the Gully god Mavado who both got thirty minutes (30 mins) sets and delivered arguably the two best performances of the night. From the get go Mavado accompanied by a choir had the gun-totting fingers of the gangstas and the girls in the air as he reeled off hit after hit from this growing catalogue accompanied by his signature evil laugh and his favourite slang "Different Ting", it was indeed a performance of mammoth proportion. However when the Doctor Beenie Man took the stage it was a different story as the ladies were in a frenzy and could not get enough of the 'Girls dem Sugar' as they wined and gyrated to the infectious beats, persons were actually witness begging for more, when he asked "Can I go home now". The biggest surprise of the night though came from the Five Star General aka Grung Gad, Bounty Killer who delivered a fiery set that could almost rival that of his protege, Mavado, but almost tarnished it all when he provoked a few boos with some unwelcomed commentary. According to one patrons "Bwoy Killa performance remind me of Sting 93.. but him need fi stop the tracing now". Kartel the musical connoisseur and girls anthem king started out well but fizzled in the end. Assassin and Serani also delivered a good set asking the patrons "a coulda wha do dem guy deh" and explained why he's gonna be "stinkin rich", while Ninjaman with his usual comical self was bearly up to par as patrons expected more from the one time Dancehall ruler. Honourary mention must be given to the upcoming Dancehall diva D'Angel who stood her ground a delievered on her promise to entertain and surprisingly she was not booed, guess this goes to show she is really growing as an artiste. |
When she heard that Hurricane Dean was coming, Reena Faley, who lived alone on Beach Road in Prospect, St Thomas, knew she had to leave her board house which was at risk of collapsing.
Her neighbours provided shelter as Dean swept relentlessly across the island in 2007, taking the security of her humble dwelling with it.
It is a memory that Reena will not soon forget. For a while, she bunked with neighbours and friends. But today, she lives in a newly constructed one-bedroom structure, a gift from the Construction Resource Development Centre (CRDC).
Reena's assistance came through the Prospect Disaster Committee (PDC). The committee is a 15-member group, comprising mostly women. Their objective is to educate the community on safety measures, before and during man-made or natural disasters.
further strengthened
The group was set up by the Social Development Commission and was further strengthened with the help of other entities, such as the Red Cross, the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM), the CRDC and other non-governmental organisations.
"The committee's first major disaster experience was during the passage of Hurricane Dean," recalled Joy Powell, chairperson of the PDC.
"It was eye-opening for me and others. You live in the community, but you do not know all the persons and you do not know the conditions in which they are living ... . It was quite an experience," she said.
Even with those thoughts in their heads, group members were prepared to deal with the situation.
They took the time to map the communities in order to identify at-risk areas and homes and point out suitable places for shelters.
The fact that not all shelters were equipped with adequate first-aid supplies proved quite challenging. First-aid equipment was usually provided by ODPEM and the Ministry of Labour and Social Security, but sometimes was inadequate. Insufficient food supplies were also a major stumbling block.
Apart from replacing hurricane-destroyed homes, Powell said the CRDC had also been offering free training seminars on various aspects of disaster.
assistance
Director of the CRDC, Carmen Griffiths, said that long before the disaster group was formed, her organisation had been offering assistance in the areas of water and sanitation to community groups in the parish.
She said that about three training sessions on building-construction techniques against natural disasters were held with community members from approximately 27 communities. The Prospect team was one of the many groups that attended these sessions.
"We wanted a group of women who, even if they couldn't do it, would actually have a good understanding of how it is done. We got into the whole thing of mapping, of looking at what areas would be vulnerable should a natural disaster happen, to produce maps showing the women what their vulnerabilities were," she said.
The CRDC was also instrumental in arranging an exchange programme for Powell to attend a two-week disaster course in Guatemala, which brought together women from a number of Latin American countries. The programme was part of activities to celebrate the International Day of Disaster Reduction in collaboration with Gra** Root Women Operating Together in Sisterhood International.
"Women would be able to share their ideas and to see what practices were happening elsewhere in the world that were either relevant to them or that they could adapt or learn from," explained Griffiths.
Powell said the most important aspects of the programme that she hoped to introduce to the community was "education and getting the community interested in preparedness" .
"We could have an earthquake, we could have fire and flooding and, of course, Jamaica is inside the hurricane belt, so we need to be prepared. I plan to have assimilation programmes. I'll start with the smaller children in the basic schools and hope they will take the information home to their parents," added Powell.
pleased
Luther Cummings, parish manager of the Social Development Commission, said he was extremely pleased with the work of the PDC. One of their major activities, he said, was to do an assessment of the community within 24 hours and have a report ready for agencies, such as the SDC and the Ministry of Labour and Social Security.
"When the agencies are ready to send their representatives to assess the communities, this has already been done and all they need to do is to verify the information," he explained.
Bar owners near the Workers' Stadium in central Beijing say they have been forced by Public Security Bureau officials to sign pledges agreeing not to let black people enter their premises.
"Uniformed Public Security Bureau officers came into the bar recently and told me not to serve black people or Mongolians," said the co-owner of a western-style bar, who asked not to be named.

Remember that stuff about hiding under a table or standing in a doorway?? Well, this guy has a completely reverse opinion. This is very interesting, different from what we were all taught. Boy! Is this ever aneye opener. Directly opposite of what we've been taught over the years! I can remember in school being told to, 'duck and cover' or stand in a doorway during an earthquake. This guy's findings are absolutely amazing. I hope we all remember his survival method if we are ever in an earthquake!!!
Please read this and pass the info along to your family members; it could save their lives someday!
EXTRACT FROM DOUG COPP'S ARTICLEON THE: 'TRIANGLE OF LIFE'
I am the Rescue Chief and Disaster Manager of the American Rescue Team International (ARTI), the world's most experienced Rescue team. The information in this article will save lives in an earthquake.
I have crawled inside 875 collapsed buildings, worked with rescue teams from 60 countries, founded rescue teams in several countries, and I am a Member of many rescue teams from many countries.
I was the United Nations expert in Disaster Mitigation for two years. I have worked at every major disaster in the world since 1985, except for simultaneous disasters.
The first building I ever crawled inside of was a school in Mexico City during the 1985 earthquake. Every child was under its desk. Every child was crushed to the thickness of their bones. They could have survived by lying down next to their desks in the aisles. It was obscene, unnecessary and I wondered why the children were not in the aisles. I didn't at the time know that the children were told to hide under something.
Simply stated, when buildings collapse, the weight of the ceilings falling upon the objects or furniture inside crushes these objects, leaving a space or void next to them. This space is what I call the 'triangle of life'. The larger the object, the stronger, the less it will compact. The less the object compacts, the larger the void, the greater the probability that the person who is using this void for safety will not be injured.
The next time you watch collapsed buildings, on television, count the 'triangles' you see formed. They are everywhere. It is the most common shape, you will see, in a collapsed building.
TIPS FOR EARTHQUAKE SAFETY
1) Most everyone who simply 'ducks and covers' WHEN BUILDINGS COLLAPSE are crushed to death. People who get under objects, like desks or cars, are crushed.
2) Cats, dogs and babies often naturally curl up in the fetal position. You should too in an earthquake. It is a natural safety/survival instinct. You can survive in a smaller void. Get next to an object, next to a sofa, next to a large bulky object that will compress slightly but leave a void next to it.
3) Wooden buildings are the safest type of construction to be in during an earthquake. Wood is flexible and moves with the force of the earthquake. If the wooden building does collapse, large survival voids are created. Also, the wooden building has less concentrated, crushing weight. Brick Buildings will break into individual bricks. Bricks will cause many injuries but less squashed bodies than concrete slabs.
4) If you are in bed during the night and an earthquake occurs, simply roll off the bed. A safe void will exist around the bed. Hotels can achieve a much greater survival rate in earthquakes, simply by posting a sign on The back of the door of every room telling occupants to lie down on the floor, next to the bottom of the bed during an earthquake.
5) If an earthquake happens and you cannot easily escape by getting out the door or window, then lie down and curl up in the fetal position next to a sofa, or large chair.
6) Most everyone who gets under a doorway when buildings collapse is killed. How? If you stand under a doorway and the doorjamb falls forward or backward you will be crushed by the ceiling above. If the door jam falls sideways you will be cut in half by the doorway. In either case, you will be killed!
7) Never go to the stairs. The stairs have a different 'moment of frequency (they swing separately from the main part of the building). The stairs and remainder of the building continuously bump into each other until structural failure of the stairs takes place. The people who get on stairs before they fail are chopped up by the stair treads - horribly mutilated. Even if the building doesn't collapse, stay away from the stairs. Thestairs are a likely part of the building to be damaged. Even if the stairs are not collapsed by the earthquake, they may collapse later when overloaded by fleeing people. They should always be checked for safety, even when the rest of the building is not damaged.
8) Get Near the Outer Walls Of Buildings Or Outside Of Them if Possible - It is much better to be near the outside of the building rather than the interior. The farther inside you are from the outside perimeter of the building the greater the probability that your escape route will be blocked.
9) People inside of their vehicles are crushed when the road above falls in an earthquake and crushes their vehicles; which is exactly what happened with the slabs between the decks of the Nimitz Freeway. The victims of the San Francisco earthquake all stayed inside of their vehicles. They were all killed. They could have easily survived by getting out and sitting or lying next to their vehicles. Everyone killed would have survived if they had been able to get out of their cars and sit or lie next to them. All the crushed cars had voids 3 feet high next to them, except for the cars that had columns fall directly across them.
10) I discovered, while crawling inside of collapsed newspaper offices and other offices with a lot of paper, that paper does not compact. Large voids are found surrounding stacks of paper.
KNOXVILLE A man says he was so consumed by the spirit of God that he fell and hit his head while at a Knoxville church.
Now he wants Lakewind Church to pay $2.5 million for medical bills, lost income, and pain and suffering he says he's endured from his injuries.
Matt Lincoln, who is 57, says he decided to sue the church after its insurance company denied his claim for medical bills.
Lincoln has had two surgeries since the June 2007 incident but says he still feels pain in his back and his legs.
The Sevier County man says he was asking God to have "a real experience" while praying at church.
He says he has fallen from the force of the spirit before but has always been caught by someone.
Lawyers for the church say other congregants saw him on the floor laughing after his fall. They say he failed to look out for his own safety.
When LucasArts releases Star Wars: The Force Unleashed on September 16, the video game will serve as George Lucas' official medium between 2005's Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith and 1977's Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope. In the game, players become Darth Vader's secret apprentice and use The Force to hunt the remaining Jedi.
Force Unleashed allows gamers to use supercharged Force powers to bust through objects, wield a lightsabre, blast lighting bolts and fling around foes. The game will also change the way fans view Episode IV through Episode VI - Return of the Jedi, LucasArts project lead Haden Blackman told The Associated Press at the E3 Business and Media Summit.
"There's a couple of big twists and turns in the story," said Blackman. "One revelation in particular really impacts the rest of the saga as a whole. It goes way beyond filling in gaps. We try to make a bridge on every level. The story has a real implications on Episode IV. In some ways, without the apprentice, Episode IV couldn't happen."
Versions of The Force Unleashed will be available on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, PlayStation Portable, Nintendo DS and PlayStation 2. Blackman and his team worked with Lucas to craft the original saga, which mixes both pre-established elements from the Star Wars universe as well as new characters, locales and details from game developers.
story ideas
"We pitched a number of different story ideas and concepts to him," said Blackman. "With him, we picked and chose the strongest elements. As we worked on The Force Unleashed, he encouraged us to create new characters as well as use existing characters. He told us, 'If you're going to use Vader, that's fine, but here's how you can use him'."
In the first level, players will plough through the Wookie homeworld of Kashyyyk as Darth Vader. Subsequent levels find players serving as Vader's apprentice and travelling to such locales as a TIE Fighter construction facility, the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, the overgrown planet of Felucia and back to an Empire ravaged Kashyyyk.
"Story-wise, we left some openings for a sequel," said Blackman. "The concept of The Force Unleashed could be taken in any direction.
weekly series
We could potentially do a Force Unleashed game set in a different Star Wars time period with a new storyline. We were definitely cognisant to leave some doors open at the end."
Lucas will premiere the new computer-animated film Star Wars: The Clone Wars, which takes place between Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones and Episode III on August 10. The film will be pegged to a new weekly animated TV series as well as new Clone Wars video games for both the Nintendo DS and the Wii.
I am 16 years old and I have a dilemma. Three years ago, I met a guy who is three years my senior and was infatuated with him. At that time, I was immature and giddy-headed. His cousin lived downstairs from me and he was visiting him. That's how we met. My best friend, who lived upstairs from me was dating the guy I liked. Anyway, as adolescents usually do when they're paired up and bored, we played truth or dare. My dare was to go into a room with him. When we went in I was shy, but felt like this was my only chance to impress him and I didn't want to blow my chance by seeming immature. I only wanted to kiss him, but he kept on saying: "This is whack". I didn't want him to not like me so when he started to have foreplay with me, I just let him. Then he wanted to have sex. I told him I wasn't a virgin, to please him, when really I was a virgin at the time. I allowed him to insert his penis in me halfway but not enough to break my barrier until he climaxed. When he was finished, we got dressed and left the room as if nothing happened. Later on, he left and I didn't hear anything from him, unless it was through his cousin. His cousin said the guy thought I was too immature for him.
Three years later, I started attending a high school, which I heard he was also at. I was paranoid. I wondered what he would say if he saw me? Would he embarra** me or ignore me? The possibilities ran through my head like crazy? The first hour of school we bumped into each other and he seemed shocked and happy to see me. We greeted each other and everything seemed cool. It was a load off of my shoulders.
Later during the year, he realised how I had matured mentally, and physically. He asked me if we could finish off what we started and I told him that I'm no longer the foolish girl I once was and that cannot happen. He would ask me over and over and try to charm me like the average guy does, saying how he can't believe that I hate him and how I was young and didn't know what I was doing and to get over it.
Since I haven't been responding to him and accepting any of his offers, whenever he sees me he mocks me, taunts me, and even makes up little songs about me. He does this in public, in school and outside school. He doesn't care who I'm with and it's so disgusting. He does it in Patois so mostly only the Jamaican students will understand. It can be embarra**ing and I laugh sometimes because he has a sense of humour. But it's very irritating. Every single time he glances at me when he does it. He even goes around looking for me to do it.
I reported him to teachers many times and he would apologise and then go back and do it again. He doesn't care. I ignore him and it doesn't work. I strike him and it doesn't work. I curse him and tell him bout his mother, but that doesn't work either. I have confronted him face to face, I even pray for him and nothing works. And my friends just laugh with him because it's impossible not to laugh at the stuff he says sometimes though it can be shameful.
What should I do, pastor? It's been two years since I've been dealing with this clown.

To millions of US wrestling fans, Kofi Kingston is the first Jamaican wrestler in World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). But his real identity is very different - because to his family and friends, he is Kofi Sarkodie-Mensah from Ghana.
Most wrestling fans have never heard of the West African country, so the wrestling body decided fight fans would be more likely to embrace a wrestler from the land of Bob Marley and reggae music.
And so desperate is Sarkodie-Mensah to become wrestling's next superstar, he is willing to deny who he is.
"I was actually born in Jamaica - to be honest with a name like Kofi a lot of people assume I was born in Ghana," he says with a bad Jamaican accent, but doing his best to stay in character.
But though he denies it, his mother Elizabeth - the head of a Ghanaian-American organisation in the US - confirms that he was indeed born in Ghana, and not in Jamaica. The family only moved to the US in 1982.
"I told him: 'Kofi, your cousins watch you on TV in Ghana and want to know why you don't say you're from Ghana,'" she says.
"He said: 'Tell them it is business.'"
Suit swapped
It certainly is business.
After he discovered his mother had revealed his secret identity to the press, Sarkodie-Mensah banned her and the rest of his family from speaking to the media, for fear of compromising his career.
"She's very happy I am doing what I want to do," he says of his mother. "But I don't think she knows how big wrestling really is."
Spinning people around by their necks and slamming their heads into the ground is not how Sarkodie-Mensah, who is the only African in big-time wrestling in the United States, thought he would earn his living.
A member of a family of intellectuals from near Kumasi in Ghana, he was expected to become a revered teacher like his grandfather.
But he first went into the corporate world - and almost immediately regretted it.
"My first day at work I sat in my cubicle and looked at the empty walls and it was very depressing," he recalls.
The 26-year-old soon decided to swap his business suit for bright yellow wrestler's trunks.
"The first day I walked into the wrestling school, I knew I was in the right place," he says.
So far, Sarkodie-Mensah has made all the right moves.
Since his debut in January, he has "won" all but one of his 100 matches on the Extreme Championship Wrestling circuit, an offshoot of WWE which launched the careers of the likes of Hulk Hogan and The Rock.
WWE is convinced Sarkodie-Mensah has what it takes to make it to the top in the scripted world of US professional wrestling - dismissed by some as more soap opera than sport.
'Concussion in the face'
But although professional wrestling has its detractors, Sarkodie-Mensah's father, Kwasi, is not one of them.
Mr Sarkodie-Mensah, a lecturer at Boston College in the US, says though many of his friends in Ghana were disappointed that his son became a wrestler rather than an academic like his parents, he is happy his son has found contentment in his career.
"I know it is a very anti-intellectual thing, but I think everybody should get up in the morning and be excited about what they do," he says.
But Mr Sarkodie-Mensah's friends in Ghanaian academia, like Raymond Osei-Boadu of the University of Science and Technology in Kumasi, are horrified.
"I cannot bring myself to understand," says a disconsolate Mr Osei-Boadu.
"Why would a person who is very capable of going to graduate school decide to jettison all that for concussion in the face?"
There are plenty of reasons to give your tires a little bit of attention now, before you find yourself on the side of the road at midnight."

I am a 25-year-old Christian woman, who has been saved for many years. Last year I went to Jamaica and met a nice guy, who is also a Christian. We spent a lot of time together and we began liking each other. When I returned home we talked alot on the phone, but as time went on, my mind started to drift away from the relationship. We were still talking on the phone, but I was still keeping my options open, because with long distance relationships one minute you're saying that you love each other and the next minute you never hear from that person again.
Last year, two new brothers came to the church. After about three months one of the brothers started to show interest in me, but I wasn't very interested in him mainly because he wasn't a Jamaican. That went on for a few months until I felt forced into dating him because of his nice words and he seemed caring. Once we started to date, he kept talking about marriage and wanting to have sex. I don't believe in sex before marriage. I started to get scared because I knew that he didn't have his documents to remain in England, so I started to think that maybe he wanted to be with me because of that. When he started to come to church, he used to come with a woman who was also African, but then she stopped coming. When I asked him about her, he told me that he didn't want her to come and that she stopped talking to him because he was talking to me. We didn't go out much unless it was for one of his church programmes. We used to argue about everything and stopped talking for days. At that time I didn't know what to do, but I felt that I was tied to him. I don't have many friends, so to me I felt that maybe this was the person God sent for me, but I was just being 'choosy'.
I went to Jamaica and even though I was talking to the guy in England, I was still keeping in contact with the person I met in Jamaica. Before I left for Jamaica, the guy and I in England had a really big fight about me not wanting to sleep with him. While I was out there the Jamaican guy treated me so nicely. He drove me around and took me to meet his family, we went out for meals, etc. and I felt so happy with him. The guy in England never called. Even when I got back home, he didn't call until he saw me in church. At that point he started to say that I had put on a lot of weight, so I decided that enough was enough and left him after telling him that I was seeing someone while I was in Jamaica.
Pastor, I feel very close to the guy in Jamaica, but I am home again and I am feeling very lonely again and the brother from my church keeps telling me how much he loves me and how much he misses me. Last week I felt so alone even though I am receiving phone calls from the guy in Jamaica. After church on Sunday my mother said that she saw the brother from my church arm-in-arm with another sister, even though on that same Sunday he was telling me that he still loved me. So I called him up and asked him what was going on and he told me that he was dating the same African church sister but he didn't say anything about the church sister that my mom saw him with. He still claimed that he wanted to be with me. The problem is that I feel that he is fooling me.
Pastor, my only trouble is that my mom waited for my dad for 20 years and he ended up marrying someone else and she is alone. I don't want to wait on that Jamaican guy and end up being alone too but I really do like him and we even talk about marriage. He has never asked me for money nor does he want to come to England. Even if we do talk about England, he has relatives up here and says that he wants to stay with them, until he is stable and we can be together. Should I believe that the African guy really loves me? Have I been blinded by the fact that he is educated and can provide for me once he finishes his masters?
Help me pastor, please.

Yesterday was Renato Adams's final day in the force as a policeman. After more than 30 years he has now officially retired. The controversial cop says he has no regrets...well...except one...that marauding gunmen in Tivoli Gardens confronted the security forces in July 2001.
The senior cop added that criminal elements causing chaos in the society are getting too much press. The crime fighter, who has been hailed by many communities in Jamaica as a hero, is featured in the popular Jamaican soap, Royal Palm Estate.

Bruce Golding to get tough
Prime Minister Bruce Golding announced that in two weeks time the country will see his strategy for fighting the spiraling crime rate. He said that certain bodies might be offended with the actions that will be taken, but he refuses to leave the country ransom to criminals. Of course, it goes without saying that the entire country is waiting to see what this unveiling will be and more importantly...will it be effective.
Dear Pastor,
I have been married to a woman for nine years and it has been a bitter pill for me. I had known her for four years before we got married and all this was her idea. I am now in my mid 30s and she is in her late 20s. For sometime now she fas wanted to dominate me in such a way that I felt bad. If I am to take a flight she objects and stuff like that. She is a controlling woman. I hate that because it was not how she was.
We have a child together and built a home together and we were in love but over the years things have got so bad that even when I have compromised she goes away and treats me badly.
Pastor, she has stopped washing my clothes, cooking my meals, and all that, it really bothers me a lot. I am taking care of all the bills and food and she saves her money and disrespects me in front of our daughter. We were Christians before we got married, but she walked away from the church and is now living a promiscuous life. She always boasts about her sexual lifestyle outside the marriage, and has men calling the house all times of night.
My pastor called her but she did not show up. I am tired of it now and I really need a divorce. She has bought some stuff and is willing to move out and I will help her out because it's unbearable for me. I need a life now with a strong woman of God. It's making me feel sad all the time. I work too hard. She had two abortions behind my back and has boasted about it. I think she is mad. Once, she tried to set the house on fire.
We went to counselling and she said she wanted a divorce and then she said 'no' to it, so I am in limbo. I need to get on with my life. Because of how she treats me, I refuse to give her money or anything. Now, I just spend it on my daughter. As for sex, that's out of the picture. I don't even have any 'nature' for her again.
Pastor, I need your help and all the Christians out there to pray for me. She has even burnt me up with boiling water when I spoke to her about her infidelity and I had reported her to the police. Tell me what else to do.
