Deejay Deva Brat, who has been incarcerated for over five months, was granted bail when he appeared in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's court today.

According to Portmore Empire insiders, Deva Brat is not a member of the Portmore Empire as he is not signed to that organisation.

"Only artistes who are signed like Blak Ryno, CP Inc., Lisa Hype, Earthworm and Jah Vinchi are considered members of the Portmore Empire," the source said.

A person close to LeBron James said Tuesday that he would strongly consider playing overseas if he was offered a salary of "around $50 million a year."

The Russian team CSKA Moscow and the Greek team Olympiacos, which recently gave Josh Childress a contract approaching $30 million over three years, have already contacted James, according to the person close to him. The person added, however, that no monetary or contractual discussions have taken place.

Singer/actor Jennifer Lopez will not be testifying about a 1999 nightclub shooting which involved incarcerated rapper Shyne and her ex-boyfriend Sean 'Diddy' C****s.

Lopez was served with a subpoena in June to testify about the incident in a deposition yesterday (August 6) but according to TMZ, the deposition did not occur because Lopez had nothing to contribute to the case.

On December 27th 1999, Diddy and Lopez accompanied by Shyne and their entourages partied at the now-defunct Club New York. During the night, a gang member would throw a wad of cash at Diddy and pulled a gun on him.

Shyne would respond by pulling out a gun and firing. Natania Reuben, an innocent bystander, would be hit in the face.

Diddy would be cleared of any wrongdoing in the incident via a trial but Shyne would be served a 10 year sentence for possessing a gun and firing it into a crowd. Lopez never testified during the trial and has never spoken publicly about the incident.

Reuben has filed a $120 million lawsuit against Diddy for injuries and damages.

Popular entertainer Barrington Levy is under police investigations following the beating of a man in Carty Hill, Clarendon, on Friday night. The singer is accused of being among a group of men who allegedly attacked and beat Vincent Stewart, a report to the police said. A subofficer at the Frankfield Police Station confirmed that they have received a report about the incident and are investigating. The officer said when Stewart came to the police station to make the report, no bruises were seen on him. He was sent to a doctor and they are awaiting a medical report on him. Several attempts to get in touch with Levy yesterday proved futile. Stewart, who has a child with Levys sister, told police that the alleged beating occurred about 8 p.m. at the singers business place. A year and a half break in Japan and a child that followed may help to explain the absence of recording artiste Terry Linen from the reggae scene in Jamaica.

Terry Linen, whose real name is Kiplin Simpson, says he moved to Japan in 2006 and returned to Jamaica in late 2007.

"I moved to Japan and deh down deh a gwaan chill but mi neva a do no work," Linen told THE STAR.

He said during the time he started dating a 'Japanese daughter' who gave birth to their son, now two years old. He returned to Jamaica at the request of his family and fans urging him to continue doing music as he had tremendous talent.

"You know how de business go, sometimes you have ups and downs. Mi jus' sit back and hold a meditation and come back wid a different vibes," said Linen who is known for hits such as Funny Love, Couldn't Be The Girl For Me, Jah Save Me and Call On A Friend.

He has definitely come back with a different vibe as he no longer sports the dyed blonde hair that he had earlier in his career.

"I've been back to Jamaica since January and di ting jus tek off. Mi come back wid a new image. Dem time deh mi used to have red head, but a big man ting mi deh pon now. De red head a bwoy bwoy ting," he said.

He has definitely come back to claim his prize as he has been getting tremendous airplay for his song Mood For Love, which has reached the number one spot on a couple local charts. His newer songs No Time To Linger and Better Man are also getting rotation.

Currently, Linen is signed to Uplifting Music International through which he will release his next album by December, despite an August schedule. The album will feature some of his recently released tracks, some newer ones and a couple cover songs.

More powerful album

Linen says this will be a more powerful album than his first, which was titled 'Terry Linen', as it has mostly original songs that were written by him.

Gospel songs are also on the agenda as he wants to release a gospel album later this year after the completion of his second secular album.

"Mi a country yute and mi did haffi go Sabbath church when mi a grow up. Music can change the people to. De yutes dem can write bout other things more than de gun lyrics and violence. De people dem caan tek weh a gwaan, it nagging a road," said Terry Linen who grew up in Red Bank, St Elizabeth.

At the end of this week, Linen says he will be off to a two-week tour in the United States, making stops in Florida, New York and Atlanta.

Last night the 71-year old actor was released from a Tennessee hospital after being treated for broken bones and other injuries sustained in a weekend car crash in Mississippi.

New York police say a 24-year-old Queens woman was beaten to death at Lil Kim's birthday celebration held at a Times Square nightclub on Sunday. The body of Ingrid "China" Rivera, who had been missing since the celebrity-filled party, was found stuffed in a rooftop electrical room above Spotlight Live by a maintenance worker on Wednesday. Authorities say the club's bouncers, who have a reputation for being "really heavy-handed", are possible suspects.

"It wouldn't surprise me if it was the bouncers," Josh Johnson, the VIP host at Spotlight, told the New York Daily News. "A lot of the bouncers, if you give them a hard time, they get really tough and rowdy. They're tough guys. You don't want to mess with them. That's actually a problem at the club."

The party, which was attended by Missy Elliott, Busta Rhymes, Lamar Odom and Wyclef Jean, reportedly took a turn for the worse after Rivera got into a fight with a club manager who found her drunk in the men's bathroom, sources said. Rivera suffered a fatal blow to the back of the head, but a sexual assault was ruled out. "The truth I don't know," Rivera's mother, Ingrid Estrada, told the Daily News. "All I know is my daughter is not alive, that somebody killed her."

A spokesman for Lil Kim said the rapper did not know Rivera and knew nothing of the attack until yesterday.

Sonys R-rated stoner comedy "Pineapple Express" lit up the box office on Wednesday, grossing $12.1 million from 3,072 theaters to toke on the best Wednesday opening ever for August.

Girl favorite "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2" also enjoyed a sterling midweek bow, grossing $5.7 million from 2,667 runs, according to Rentrak. The Warner Bros. and Alcon Entertainment sequel is well on its way to eclipsing the $9.8 opening weekend gross of the first "Sisterhood."

For the first time in its run, Warners "The Dark Knight" came in No. 3 for the day, behind "Pineapple Express" and "Sisterhood."

The Batman sequel still showed a spectacular hold in its 20th day in release, grossing $5 million from 4,128 theaters for a domestic cume of $410.8 million.

"Pineapple Express" easily blew by the $8.9 million earned by "The Princess Diaries 2," the previous record holdover for best Wednesday opening in August. Whether "Pineapple Express" can roll enough coin to beat "Dark Knight" for the weekend itself is now the question.

"Pineapples" opening-day gross of $12.1 million virtually matches the $12.3 million earned by Judd Apatow-produced "Superbad" on its first day in August 2007; the difference is that Sonys "Superbad" opened on a Friday. "Pineapples" Wednesday performance came in ahead of expectations.

Starring Seth Rogen and James Franco, "Pineapple Express" is the second R-rated comedy produced by Apatow to enter the market in under two weeks, after Sonys Will Ferrell-John C. Reilly starrer "Step Brothers."

"Step Brothers" fell to No. 6 on Wednesday, declining 23% from the day before to $1.9 million from 3,109 runs. Thats a bigger day-over-day decline than the other films in the top 10 saw on Wednesday, suggesting that "Pineapple" is taking a bite out of its aud. Cume on "Step Brothers" is $70.2 million.

Us "Mamma Mia!" dropped only 5% to $2.3 million (cume: $94 million), while "Dark Knight" declined 10%. Us "The Mummy: T**** of the Dragon Emperor" placed No. 4 on Wednesday, grossing $3.2 million from 3,760 for a cume of $51.7 million in its first five days in release.

While "Mamma Mia!" coming in No. 5 on Wednesday continues to benefit from female attention among all age groups, "Sisterhood" appeals to teen girls and tweens. Sequel, also produced by Denise Di Novi, reunited the cast from the original film, America Ferrera, Alexis Bledel, Amber Tamblyn and Blake Lively.

In the time since the first "Sisterhood" was in theaters, both Ferrera and Lively have become stars of hit TV shows.

The first "Sisterhood" pic, released on a Wednesday in early June 2005, grossed $2.1 million on its first day on its way to cuming $39 million domestically.

On the foreign front, "The Mummy:T**** of the Dragon Emporer" should remain the dominant player

following an impressive $61 million launch weekend in 27 markets. The actioner's heading into two dozen additional territories, including France, Germany, Scandinavia, Taiwan and the U.K. Three days of weekday biz gave "Emporer" a foreign cume of $80.6 million, led by $17 million each from Russia and South Korea. "The Dark Knight" will also keep international biz humming after grossing $38 million from 51 holdover territories last weekend to cross the $200 million mark in foreign grosses -- well above the final offshore cumes of the five previous Batpics. "Knight" swoops into South Korea and

Spain this weekend -- the same markets in which Disney's "Wall-E" opens. The Pixar toon's still early in its foreign run with international cume at about $100 million from two dozen territories. Sony's going day-and-date with "Pineapple Express" in Australia, but won't open the stoner comedy in Europe until the fall. U's "Mamma Mia!" continues to impress overseas with foreign cume hitting $155 million from 22 markets as of Wednesday, led by a jaw-dropping $70 million in the U.K. It's launching in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Chris Brown recently spoke about his role in the upcoming movie with rapper T.I.:

Im playing a killer. Im not going to give anything else away! he said. Its a bank-robbing movie, so its one of those action-packed films. You get a little different side of me in that movie.

Thousands of fans streamed out of the Jamalco Sports Club disappointed this morning after the Doctor only performed for about 10 minutes for the fans who had stayed until daylight to see their favourite artiste on his last performance in Jamaica before the start of a four-week European tour.

The Doctor did a highly charged set that was marked by a huge roar when he entered the stage at a few minutes after six. Even though they had seen him at least three times before, each time sporting a different outfit, they almost lost their mind as shown by the frenetic flag-waving. He launched into a medley that included the hits No Gal Caan Siddown Inna Mi Head and Chakka Chakka.

I have been doing this for 29 years, next year ah go mi 30 year anniversary, he said, before doing All man Fi Dead and then whipped up the crowd with his signature phrase dem get mi mad-ma-ma-mad-mad.

He then suggested that the head honchos at Red Stripe need to before yu clean up the business, clean up yu life and then did his popular song Mi No Lick Balls.

Mi drink outta Red Stripe, he shouted and the crowd roared.

However, Beenie Mans performance was cut short when the police arrived to close it down. Upon seeing that, Beenie told the crowd one more song and then yu go ah oonu yard. The crowd shouted no!. Then he did Gimme Lickle and brought down the curtain of Beenie Sizzle 08: The Return.

Earlier, Vybz Kartel, who hit the stage in what looked like a white naval suit with medals et al over his left breast, had performed well, earning a huge opening forward with Empire Army when he hit the stage at 5:45 a.m. before seguing into girl material such as Missing You a Lot, Wine Pon You and Touch It. He showed his versatility deejaying Trailer Load A Money on a one-drop riddim and My Scheme on the Stagalag riddim. Aidonia also locked the place with a seven minute barrage of gun songs such as Breeze Off, ra** It Up, Bushkash and straight-up dissed Munga, calling him a dutty dread and intimating that Munga had oral-carnal relations with women. Assassin also performed admirably and the Doctor in particular enjoyed his rendition of Wah Do Dem Guy De?, dancing the No Linga to it backstage. 

A list of the nights top performers include Chuck Fender, Gyptian, Harry Toddler, Anthony B, Nina Sparkles, Pamputtae, Stacious and of course Macka Diamond, who gave a command performance showing why she has been the leading female deejay in the last three years.

Emcee Richie B also called attention to the fact that Beenie Man had stuck to his guns and had forbidden the sale of all products affiliated with Red Stripe at his show to reinforce his stance against the companys withdrawal of sponsorship for dancehall events. He asked the crowd if they were in agreement with Beenies stance and there was a loud No to which Richie added a diplomatic no need to comment.

According to the cops, at least 14,000 people were in attendance at the show. The one876 team will have more reviews later when Phlex and Abena have recharged their batteries.

"A nightclub worker has confessed to the brutal murder of a 24-year-old woman during Lil Kims birthday party last weekend.

Rahman Syed, also 24, worked as a bartenders assistant at Spotlight Live nightclub in Times Square. He confessed to killing Ingrid Rivera on Sunday night and stuffing her body in a utility shed on the roof of the nightclub.

Riveras body was found by a maintenance worker on Wednesday - 2 days after she had been reported missing by her mother.

The murdered woman was one of 500 guests at rapper Lil Kims birthday party held at Spotlight Live on Sunday night. Rivera was tossed out of the nightclub because she was drunk. She later crossed paths with Syed who told her he would take her to her friend inside the club.

Syed told police he lured Rivera to the rooftop shed where he beat Rivera in the head with a metal pipe after she refused his sexual advances.

No charges have been filed in the case. Rivera had worked as a ticket agent for Delta Airlines at Kennedy airport"

Gone are the days when prostitutes only 'worked' at nights. A trend where sex workers ply their trade in broad daylight is quickly developing in St Catherine and St. Andrew. On at least two streets in the parishes the prostitutes can be seen lining the sidewalks during the days. At the Port Henderson Road in Portmore, more popularly called 'Back Road', it does not matter what time of day it is, the area is a 'hot bed' for the sex trade. At 7 a.m., women who ply their wares during the night are normally relieved by a new set who take over for the day shift. This is a practice that the police say they are aware of. When The WEEKEND STAR visited the location about 1 p.m. yesterday, skimpily clad young ladies were seen operating their trade. Attempt at a sale While the team walked by, one young lady took the opportunity to attempt to make a sale; "Wah happen boss yu naw buy nuh flesh today? Things really tough today, a only 15 bills ($1,500) fi sample di ting ya." She pointed out secluded areas, including an unfinished building, where the act could take place. The police say that they have been trying their best to curtail the daytime sale practice but as soon as they get to the strip the women run and hide, and often times if they are not caught in the act, it is difficult to even arrest them. Deputy Superintendent Clive Blair, the operations officer for the St. Catherine South division, however says they will be continuing to work against these sex workers. Meanwhile, president of the Portmore Joint Citizens' Association, Curn Harding expressed that while he has only heard reports of the happenings, such actions would definitely be againt the ideals of the body. "I have only heard reports about it, and of course it would raise some concern...We figure that any illegal act will send the wrong signal and prostitution would be against what we stand for," Harding said. In St Andrew, at the intersection of Seymour Avenue and Old Hope Road in St. Andrew, a number of also skimpily clad prostitutes, make the spot their place of daily operation. They sit, stand, and even sleep while waiting, sometimes even exposing themselves in an attempt to attract men. "A our spot dis, a long time wi deh yah so and try mek life," said Cherry, a 36-year-old mother of two. For as little as $500, desirous men can indulge in a 20 minute sex session with her. Cherry is just one of about eight other prostitutes who operate there, who all work for one 'pimp', it was learnt. Though the WEEKEND STAR did not get a chance to speak with the girls' boss, they said enough to explain their reasons for selling sex throughout the day. "Afta a nuh night alone money can spend, none a wi nuh have a 9 to 5 work suh wi nuh have nuttin fi do...So wi jus sell a daytime to," Chocolate said. As far as their 'business' activities go, these sex workers claim to get at least two customers on a bad day, and at least five on a 'fast' day. "Yu done know seh a day suh most man nuh want nobody see dem a chat to wi suh business nuh as good as inna di night, but pon a fast day all five man one a wi get each," Cherry explained. When asked why their price was so low compared to that of the prostitutes in Portmore, the sex workers explained that their spot is not as well known. Like in Portmore the police say they are aware of the practice but they say that despite their efforts to rid the corner of the prostitutes they keep returning. Detective Constable Phillip Lawrence of the Area Four police said that because there are also a few drug dens in a neighbouring community, it provides a 'comfort zone'. "As soon as we get them off they come back...There are some drug spots nearby and this is where they find their comfort zone. So as soon as we take them away, once they visit those spots, they'll be back," the detective said before adding that the police will continue in their efforts to clean the streets.

DARK Knight actor MORGAN FREEMAN left hospital yesterday after his horror car smash.

The Asylum Night Club has thrown its support behind the event and will open its doors tonight (Friday, August 8, 2008) to host the FACE TO FACE Pre-Party. Admission will only be $700. All the artistes scheduled to be on the show (Trey Songz, Yung Joc, Playaz Circle, Assassin, Spice, Chino, Konshens, Bugle, Leftside aka Dr Evil) will party in fine style with their fans. Patrons at the Beenie Man Summer Sizzle, held at Jamalco Sports complex on Wednesday night, were treated to an entertaining line-up.

The event, which was slated to start at 9 p.m., did not begin until 11p.m. when the comical MC, Sample Man, took the stage before a venue which was almost filled to capacity. He invited the only gospel artiste for the night, J Cee, to grace the stage with songs titled Nah Fi Run and No. Alfray, Massie Pearl and GB also performed and made their presence felt. However, Sparkles was the first artiste for the night to get the crowd roaring with Inna Mi Thing and Money Bag.

Mixing Lab captivated the crowd with his talent, using his mouth to mix several popular rhythms. Versatile, with Dem Can't Cross De Line, preceded Junie Platinum, who had a very energetic set with Judgement Yard, Politician A Liad and Thief and Forty and Over.

Pamputtae and Stacious also created a hype while onstage.

However, Kashew Man got several forwards performing in front of his home crowd, as he did Mama Love, Nothing Naa Gwan, Double Love and Confuse Love.

When Nesbeth touched the stage at 12:49 a.m., he ignited the crowd with Board House. The ladies screamed louder when Empress joined him for Real Love. Captain Barky and Wickerman did their regular high-energy performance before Paul Elliot took things down on a conscious note.

Lady G, Shane O and Chuck Fender also the delighted the crowd before Beenie Man made a cameo appearance at 2 a.m. and called on Beetle Bailey, who had the audience cheering as he showed off his dancing skills while performing Ital Stew, When You Ras and Hail Up.

Ginjah made his entry on stage at 2:10 a.m. while calling his brother Singer Jah to the stage after which they performed Never Lost My Way and Rough Times which had the crowd in frenzy.

MC Nuffy took over at 2:20 a.m. and introduced I-Octane, who was in a fiery mood. Natural Black and Lutan Fire continued to ignite the flames.

Monster Shack's performance which started at 3 a.m. had the crowd cheering as they did Beenie Bigger than Bounty before doing Mr Tek it Back and Duppy Know Who fi Frighten" while lashing out at Bounty Killer.

Scare Dem also made their presence felt with songs like No Men To Mi Ears, More Money and Don't Run In.

It was Serious Times for Gyptian as he pleaded for No More *lo**shed before he was joined by Fantan Mojah, who lashed out against corruption during his performance.

RDX followed a 30-minute band change and had the crowd dancing with several dancing anthems.

Beenie Man introduced D'Angel at 4:10 a.m. and her stint included Blaze, Baby Daddy, Downtown Girl and Don't Hate which had the ladies shouting.

At 6:10 a.m., promoter Beenie Man appeared on stage for his performance with the venue still packed. His performance was however cut short by the police who ended his set after 14 minutes.

Most if not all of the patrons were disappointed with Beenie Man's short set although they were treated with an entertaining line-up.

This is following Beenie's surprise appearance at Spice's birthday party, held last Monday night at Port Royal Street, Kingston. It came as a surprise to the public, and to Spice herself, when 'The Doctor' showed up, decked out in matching red and white, at her birthday party, held aboard the Caribbean Queen. Spice told The STAR yesterday, "To be honest, it was a surprise for me, I knew nothing about it, I had no idea he would come." According to Spice, the two haven't been exactly on speaking terms, but they 'bucked up' at dances while she was promoting her birthday party. "I guess he decided to come and show some love. The music needs this right now, to bury the hatchet and move on. I'm happy to see him come out and support me. It was my party and it felt great," she said. The two deejays have been at odds since the GT Taylor 'Extravaganza' show in St Elizabeth in December of 2006, when Beenie Man reportedly boxed Spice backstage. She was dressed in a sexy lavender outfit complimented by knee-high lavender chaps, and a pair screw-me-hard red high heels. She worked hard for another forward in her stage show tune, a cute take-off of an 80s hit, Jamaican Woman ah Sugar and Salt where the punchline Clarendon man give yu money and tek it back got a huge roar from the females in the crowd. The ovation was so loud, Macka pulled up the song and gave her signature phrase, Dont disturb me. She deejayed another piece and earned a forward for a line to the effect that with St. Elizabeth man, if you ramp wid dem catty, dem draw dem lass. After that, she bussed the place with Bun Him, and when she got to the chorus, it appeared that all the females in the 15,000 strong audience were singing along with her. She closed her set by dancing to her own song, Hula Hoop while dancer Latiesha deejayed. It made for a nice bit of comedic banter as he contemplated just what Sparkles had planned for him. Who knew that the diminutive Sophia Brown was such a dynamo on stage? She was a whirling dervish of energy onstage during her set interacting with the audience and wishing them a great Independence day. She hit the stage singing her top ten hit, Love You Pure, and had the audience rocking as she belted out her rafter-swinging vocals. She then did a song called Fearless with a preamble about Jamaica just having two classes, the rich and the poor. She closed her set with a new song called Jerome, a sexed-up dancehall song that suggests a womans frustrated threat to commit infidelity if her man does not come home on time. Alibra did well but came on stage singing a bad fake-Rihanna break-up jam, Take a Bow, but her voice is not suited to replicate Rihannas soulless icepick sharp vocal delivery. Alibra closed her set with her current chart-burner Clearly. Junie Platinum and Lady G also got great responses from the crowd during their performances.

Just days after injuring himself in a serious car accident with a mystery woman, actor Morgan Freeman has announced he is divorcing his wife after 24 years of marriage.

A spokesman for Freeman - who is in hospital recovering from a broken arm, a broken elbow and minor shoulder damage - told Access Hollywood he is seeking a divorce from his wife, costumer Myrna Colley-Lee.

(They) are involved in a divorce action, the actors Mississippi-based attorney and business partner Bill Luckett said.

"And for legal and practical purposes, (Freeman and Colley-Lee) have been separated since December of 2007."

The mystery woman in Freeman's car at the time it rolled has been identified as Demaris Meyer, a friend of Freeman's.

The jaws of life were required to cut both passengers from the wreckage when the car swerved off the road and rolled end-over-end on Sunday night, on a highway near a home Freeman has in Charleston, Mississippi.

The NYPD has nabbed a suspect in connection with the death of a young woman found on the roof at the Times Square club Spotlight Live after a birthday party for Lil' Kim.

The cops say they've arrested an employee of the club who was working at the bar at the time. Charges have yet to be filed and the man has yet to be arraigned.

The body of Ingrid Rivera was found in a shed on the roof of the building yesterday.

Buju Banton, one of Reggae/Dancehall's most celebrated artists was recently invited to be a part of Rock legend, Dave Stewart's new video, "American Prayer." The song, which was written by Stewart and U2 frontman Bono in support of Democratic Presidential hopeful, Senator Barack Obama, also features the likes of Whoopi Goldberg, Oprah Winfrey, Macy Gray, Beyonce, Cyndi Lauper, Kareem Abdul- Jabbar, Joan Baez among others. Accoring to Stewart - who has written for Shakira, Gwen Stefani, and others - the inspiration behind the "American Prayer" clip came from the lyrics: "Bono crafting the words in a way that would make people think about the fact that ' America ' as a concept was a truly great idea, based on the bedrock of equality - yet something had gotten lost along the way, something had gone awry. The "American Prayer" music video will launch virally on August 14th and later air on the ABC's, The View, Thursday, September 18th, during Stewart's guest appearance on the popular morning talkshow.

Godfather II Details Emerge

UK, August 7, 2008 - First concrete details have emerged around EA's Godfather II, the sequel to the movie-based game that's currently in development, revealing it will take place in Miami, Havana and New York.

Featured in this month's Xbox World 360 Magazine, which has been thumbed by the literate types at CVG, John Riccitello's previous announcement that the game would include RTS elements are confirmed, with it earning the description of "Scarface meets Total War."

Character classes have been expanded also, now encompassing bruiser, demolitions expert, arsonist, medic, safe cracker and engineer, and while a multiplayer mode is expected, EA is yet to reveal what it will entail. The game's due out in 2009, and expect to see more coverage here over the next few weeks.

APPROXIMATELY 150 Rastafarians yesterday marched to the gates of King's House in Kingston, seeking audience with Governor General Sir Kenneth Hall, to ask him to lobby the Queen of England on their behalf for their repatriation to Africa.

The march, which was organised by members of the Ethiopia Africa Black International Congress, began in downtown Kingston. The Rastafarians - who were dressed mostly in white head wraps, and white shirts and pants as well as long, black capes - marched around Parade, downtown Kingston, seven times before they travelled to King's House on Hope Road.

"It's something we do every year. It's on this day, Emancipation Day, that they took the shackles off our feet. And emancipation really means to send us home, so we trod to King's House to ask the governor general to deliver a letter from us to the Queen," a Rastafarian, who identified himself as His Honourable Priest Earl, told the Observer yesterday.
"It's an every year thing, but we really wouldn't like to come back again next year," he added.

Earl admitted, however, that the march did not yield the kind of response the contingent desired.

"What they are telling us is nothing new, but we have to come and try still," Earl said.

Though the march prompted the calling of the police to the scene, no incidence of violence was reported.
