JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A man accused of attacking a mother of eight with a pot of boiling water has been arrested, police said on Friday.
Jacksonville police took Joseph Martin, a suspect they've been trying to find for months, into custody.
Martin has been featured on Channel 4's Wheel of Justice since May.

Detectives said Martin poured scalding hot water on his girlfriend, giving her third-degree burns over much of her body.
The victim is expected to be OK.
Martin is charged with aggravated battery.

You've heard of thieves breaking into a home to steal jewellery, money, TVs, collectibles and cars - but a quick rinse?

That's what police in Wichita, Kansas are dealing with, after a bizarre robbery on Friday. A woman came home to find a real mess in her laundry room and went upstairs to call her absent husband. But as she reached for the phone, a stranger appeared from out of nowhere giving her the fright of her life.

Not only was the man an intruder, but he was half naked, wearing only a pair of blue boxer shorts. The streaking crook came upstairs from the basement, grabbed the woman's purse and bolted out the door.

Cops believe he simply needed a place to wash his clothes and broke in a window to get inside.

The breathless victim was shocked but it didn't take her long to recover. She chased the man for a short distance, forcing him to drop the purse and its contents, which she recovered.

And while he was able to sprint away and disappear, cops say the fact he didn't escape with her valuables, apparently took nothing else, and left his pants and a belt behind means only one thing - despite doing his laundry, it wasn't exactly a 'clean' getaway.

JACKSONVILLE, FL -- Someone smashed their way into a gun shop in Arlington and walked out with 21 guns.

The burglary happened at the Bullseye Gun & Pawn at Atlantic and University.

According to the store's owner, Jackie Miller, the thieves broke through the store's steel, roll-down door and smashed the glass front door.

They smashed in four display cases and selectively removed 23 guns. Two weapons were recovered at the scene. They did not steal any cash.

The thieves made off with several 9 mm pistols, a .50-caliber handgun, semiautomatic pistol, a pump action shotgun, two .38-caliber revolvers with pink pearl grips, and a number of other weapons.

The Magnum Research .50 Action Express Desert Eagle pistol was the most expensive taken--retailing above $1400. The .50 AE is a large caliber handgun with a six inch barrel. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms labels the prototype of the pistol as a "destructive device," because of a bore larger than a half-inch, putting it in the same category as hand grenades. Subsequent makes have been below the half-inch barrier.

Miller tells First Coast News that this is the fourth time her gun shop has been burglarized in four years. However, the burglaries have never been this severe.

The store has a security system provided by IDS Alarm, including motion sensors. According to the police report, the alarm did not sound. IDS Alarm employees are working to find the problem.

Bullseye's gun shop has no video surveillance system.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The man who was found guilty of manslaughter in the shooting death of a father of three was sentenced on Friday to life in prison.
At his sentencing hearing, Joshua Charles repeated the same thing he has been saying since his arrest -- that he did not fire the shot that killed Eric Schnoor. He also apologized to the Schnoor family.
Prosecutors said Charles was driving around a Mandarin neighborhood last January, shooting for fun. One of the bullets hit and killed Schnoor, who investigators said he was out collecting old books.

Schnoor's wife, Racquel Schnoor, took the stand and talked about why spending Aug. 15 at Charles' sentencing hearing was especially painful.
"Today would have been my 14th wedding anniversary," Schnoor said. "(Our kids) remember being tucked in and snuggling up to their daddy, but unfortunately, that's all they can do is remember him because they've been robbed of their privilege of access to their father by someone else's recklessness."

Seconds after the judge handed down Charles' life sentence, the courtroom erupted with emotion.
Prosecutors said Charles got what he deserved.
"I think that this case was a total wake-up call to our community, and it was a scary incident for any person who just wants to venture outside of their home," said prosecutor London Hairston.
The trial for Charles' co-defendant, Dean Parker, who investigators said was driving the car at the time of Schnoor's shooting, will be held at a later date.

19 years old Lyons, a graduate of the University College of the Caribbean strafed off  fifteen other contestants to walk away with the crown and will now go on to represent Jamaica in the international leg of the competition later this year in Keiv, Ukraine. Second (2nd) place went to Jade Grant, while third (3rd) was awarded to Marshagay Reynolds who is also a former Miss Jamaica Universe runner up .

This year seventy three (73) hopefuls entered from which  forty four (44) were chosen before eventually being pruned to sixteen (16) at a private screening held at Spartan Health Club to face off for the title. 

The 16 finalists were: (in alphabetical order) Arcadia Brown, Brittany Lyons, Chaka Lagurre, Danielle Brown, Danielle Bazzoni, Jade Grant, Jodion Henry, Marshagay Reynolds, Monique Daley, Nikita Byfield, Raecine Williams, Shaneka Sherise Simpson, Sian Watts, Staci-Lee Peart, Sydonie McBayne and Yanique Marie-Ann Levy.

The Miss Jamaica World competition is a production of Spartan Health Club and was produced by renown fashion director Weston Haught

BEIJING Usain Bolt, the Jamaican sprinter who has crashed the international sprint scene this year, obliterated his own world record by winning the gold medal in the 100 meters in theatrical fashion Saturday night at the Beijing Olympics.

Starting in Lane 4, Bolt had an average start but blew away the field in the final 50 meters, spreading his arms with three strides to go and pounding his chest before crossing the line in 9.69 seconds. If he had held his form through the tape, he might have run under 9.6.

Richard Thompson, the N.C.A.A. champion from Louisiana State who competes for Trinidad and Tobago, finished second in 9.89 seconds. The American Walter Dix, who competed at Florida State, won bronze in 9.91.

Next for Bolt is the 200 meters, in which he will be even more of a prohibitive favorite. Carl Lewis was the last sprinter to win both the 100 and 200 in the same Games, at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics.

Bolt had run the most impressive preliminary rounds and seemed the most relaxed and confident among the sprinters before the race, dancing around near the starting blocks.

With a body seemingly ill-suited for the blink-and-its-over 100-meter dash, the 6-foot-5 Bolt won track and fields marquee event in front of more than 90,000 fans at the Birds Nest, just 10 weeks removed from his breakthrough performance in New York City. On May 31, competing in the Reebok Grand Prix on Randalls Island, Bolt ran a 9.72, breaking Asafa Powells record of 9.74. Powell, also from Jamaica, was fifth Saturday night, in 9.95.

The mens 100 final was missing one of the top contenders, the American record holder and defending world champion Tyson Gay. He failed to advance out of his semifinal heat Saturday night, finishing fifth in 10.05 seconds and stealing the final of some of its anticipated luster. Gay finished behind Powell, Richard Thompson and Darvis Patton in the semifinal heat. Gays only chance at Olympic medals will be in the relays.

I dont really have any excuses, I just didnt make it, Gay said. My hamstring felt good. It didnt bother me. I wasnt too overwhelmed with this being the Olympics. Maybe I could have used some more training or more races but besides that, I was just trying to get my rhythm through each round.

Powell, 25, who held the world record from June 2005 until May, won his semifinal heat in 9.91. Bolt, 21, ran a 9.85 seconds despite slowing toward the end.

Bolts height makes him somewhat of an unlikely success in the 100, a burst that typically favors shorter, stockier runners. But he manages to reach blazing speed with unusual stride length and stride frequency.

The meet in New York in May was only the fifth time Bolt had run the 100 professionally, but he could boast two of the three fastest times ever. Although he was not yet an international star before 2008, Bolt has long been highly regarded in the track community. He won the world junior championship at 200 meters at age 15. He later was the first junior sprinter to break 20 seconds for the 200.

Last Saturday when 876radio.com interviewed Chimney Record Executive Jordon McClure aka 'Jordan' he gave us the low down on the project.

According to Jordan the album will be called "Trailer Load A Money" and will feature fifteen (15) solid tracks executively produced by him. He said the tracks are all exclusive never before heard material and is sure to take the market by storm on it's released. The release date is set for October.

Jordan and Hizzle two of the fastest rising producers in the industry are responsible for some of the biggest hits presently gracing the local and international airwaves including the Shooter Riddim, Soul Seeka Riddim and the most recent Heat Stroke Riddim one of their biggest singles to date is Vybz Kartels' 'Trailer Load A Money',  when played garners some of the biggest forwards on the entertainment circuit.

Chimney records is a joint venture between Jordan McClure and David Hayle both music lovers from a tender age who decided to pursue their dreams of becoming music producers.

Last night I watched Usain Bolt do the most remarkable thing I have ever witnessed.

I, like many around me, could only laugh when I saw Bolt's new 100m world record flash up on the scoreboard. I was laughing at the words-fail-me joy of it all.

This morning, I have just seen Michael Phelps claim his eighth gold medal of these Games and 14th of his career.

So which performance was better?

Stupid question, right? Yes, of course it is. But it's not going to stop me from posing it, just as it won't stop sports fans all over the world from debating it.

Comparisons may well be odious but they're also addictive and inevitable. We simply can't help it and, like Pringles, once you've popped 'em you just can't stop.

While the "Baltimore Bullet" lacks "Lightning Bolt's" sense of theatre, Phelps' record-breaking display was undeniably magnificent. And it's not his fault he couldn't coast to the wall, while smiling for the cameras and beating his chest - he was swimming the third leg.

But for me, Bolt's performance was the pick of the two. It had everything. I won't go over ground my colleague Tom has already covered, but I have never seen anything like that before.

Of course, it's not just one performance with Phelps, is it? You are really looking at the body of his work, in every sense.

Gold number eight - a lucky number here, in case you missed that - came in the 4x100m medley relay. The US has won this race at every Olympics it has contested, so for many pundits this gold was a "gimme".

But that was always being a tad dismissive of the Australians and Japanese, and Phelps himself never talks about a gold until it is around his neck.

As it happened, the race was a classic, and the 23-year-old phenomenon's part in it was decisive.

Swimming the butterfly leg, Phelps took off from the blocks in third place after superb breaststroke shifts from Japan's Kosuke Kitajima and Australian Brenton Rickard.

No matter. Phelps simply steamrollered the field as he did in all five of his individual wins apart, ironically, from the 100m butterfly.

His split was three-quarters of a second faster than the next best swimmer and a US victory was now in the capable hands of Jason Lezak, the man who kept the Phelps' record bid on track with a stunning final leg in the 4x100m freestyle.

And that was that. Cue richly deserved celebrations, massive grins and the Stars and Stripes for the 12th time in the Water Cube this week.

Did this, though, elevate Phelps to a new level? In beating Mark Spitz's 36-year-old record of seven golds from a single Games, was he now more than just the greatest swimmer of his generation?

For Spitz he is. The American legend had already crowned his successor before number eight was in the bag.

"He is the single greatest Olympic athlete of all time now," said Spitz, speaking to US television on Saturday.

"He will probably be the single greatest athlete compared to anybody in any century - the 20th, the 21st, whatever."

That's a big claim, as "whatever" is a very long time.

Phelps is certainly the greatest swimmer of all time. And he would be justified in being miffed if he doesn't get the world athlete of the year accolade when those gongs are handed out.

But is he really what Maurice Greene has tattooed on his shoulder - the Greatest Of All Time? How can you possibly define that? How can you compare the apples and pears of so many different sports and eras?

You can't. But it's not going to stop people trying.

I'm not going to attempt to come up with definitive criteria for judging this or suggest a list of candidates - I'll only forget something or somebody. I'll leave that to you.

What I will do, however, is suggest where the biggest problems will come in really nailing this down.

The first major head-scratcher is the barriers to entry for each sport. To put things crudely, far more people can aspire to running fast than swimming fast.

Rightly or wrongly, swimming is still, by and large, a middle-class sport done well by a few wealthy countries. Yes, there are exceptions to this and 21 different countries that did win medals in the pool in Beijing.

But the fact remains over half of the 96 medals on offer were won by Australia and the US. Throw in China, the rest of the G7 and Russia, and you're up to more than three-quarters.

There will be a far greater spread of medals in athletics.

Another way of looking at this is the availability of opportunities. Even in a wealthy country like the UK, there is a postcode lottery element to swimming success due to our shortage of 50m pools and the concentration of top-notch coaching around those pools.

And perhaps another way of looking at this is to compare Phelps' achievements to other dominant sportsmen and women in fields that require a high degree of coaching expertise and technical input.

Putting aside the inevitable "are they really sportsmen, though?" claims, Tiger Woods is as dominant in his sport as Phelps is in his (and will break all of golf's records before he's done), and Michael Schumacher was one helluva driver.

But can "athletes" like that ever really claim to the "greatest"? What they are doing is such a specific thing and is only open to a minority of the global population.

It's a tricky one, however, because you cannot completely dismiss the achievements of somebody from one of these more esoteric disciplines just because not everybody has had a turn. Phelps, Schumacher, Woods and many more besides could all still be the greatest.

But it's a difficult argument to make stick for most people, which is why the majority inevitably come back to more accessible sports.

And why whenever I'm asked for my greatest sportsman of all time, I usually say Diego Maradona. Who, strangely enough, is rumoured to be in town and desperate to meet Bolt.

Fair play to Phelps, though. Perhaps we should postpone this debate until he's done. He's not finished winning Olympic medals yet, and neither is Bolt.

MANDEVILLE, Manchester - For years, the section of Mandeville Market known as 'the Bronx' at the entrance of the arcade has been viewed by Manchester Parish Council representatives as somewhat of an 'eyesore' and a haven for criminal activity. It is against that backdrop that the Manchester Parish Council began demolishing the entire area early Sunday, leaving many vendors totally incensed.

"I can't believe they come do this because right now is whole heap of stress dem put we under, for today we cyan work and mek a living we honestly nuh know weh fi do," a vendor known as 'Sleepy' of the 'Bronx' area, told the Observer.

"Me feel angry right now cause the (Manchester Parish) Council a tell we bout true couple man dead we haffi suffer fi man weh cause dem own death," he added.

According to the Parish Council, those sellers who worked in the 'Bronx' illegally will have to become registered vendors and provide personal details, including a police record and address, if they are to continue working in the town's arcade. However, one vendor said he intends to neither register nor disclose his particulars and with many of his fellow vendors, and was hard at work building new stalls in a vacant area at the back of the arcade, which adjoins Willow Gate Plaza.

"Me nah register with no Council because a jus' more money dem a look fi tek outta wi pocket," Mike, a clothing vendor, told the Observer. "That's why yuh see we building up new stall inside now so dem cyan tell we seh a we cause the crime."

The 'Bronx' section of the arcade, which has now been flattened, is closed for a week to facilitate registration of vendors and collection of their personal details.

"Operation Zero Tolerance" culminated Tuesday with the execution of four search warrants and the arrest of Robert Adams, 34, of Bunnell, who authorities said was the kingpin of the drug operation. Adams was charged with trafficking more than 400 grams of cocaine, conspiracy to traffic more than 600 grams of cocaine, continuing a criminal enterprise and money laundering. He was being held without bond in the Volusia County jail. The sheriff's office said other suspects are being sought and more arrests are expected. "Operation Zero Tolerance" began in 2006, with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement's Tri-County Narcotics Task Force joining the investigation when evidence was found that drug trafficking extended to Orlando and Miami. "The intelligence they collected at the beginning of this operation proved to be the stimulus to bring in state and federal agents," Flagler County Sheriff Donald Fleming said. "This has significantly impacted large scale drug trafficking and especially the street level dealers here in Flagler County."

A WOMAN cop has been suspended after colleagues discovered she was working as a hooker.

The WPC, 28, offers her services as a Ł100-an-hour escort on a website.

She was one of eight women and six men arrested by officers investigating prostitution and police corruption across Greater Manchester, Northumberland, Cleveland, Co Durham and the Scottish Borders.

OK, so the Democratic presidential nomination race is drawing towards a close, and by the end of the week, Obama should wrap up this thing and turn his attention towards McCain. But what I cant get over is all the animosity from women. I had a big argument with my girlfriends last night about this, they are saying how could I support a black man over Hillary. I am like, bitch, shes WHITE. And furthermore, I feel it is kinda insulting for women and the media to believe I will automatically line up behind Hillary just because she happens to have two X chromosomes. That is not only insulting, it is sexist, too. Personally, I think Obama is the better candidate, Hillary just sounds a lot like the female version of George Bush with all her warmongering and promises to obliterate Iran. She could make a good vice  president though but Obama would have to watch his back. A lot.

BEIJING, China

Usain Bolt, Jamaica's 100 metres world record holder, says despite the hype surrounding track and field's glamour event - the 100 metres - at the Beijing Olympics, his focus is not lost.

Bolt, who mixed patois (Jamaican Creole) with English while speaking to journalists after a training session at the stadium warm-up track yesterday, said he is just enjoying himself.

Asked about his preparation, Bolt replied: "Good so far, 'yu si weh mi a seh, mi just a train and a gwaan enjoy di thing'."

Regarding the conditions Bolt, who is the world record holder for the men's 100m at 9.72 seconds, said: "It is all right, the condition is neither hot nor humid, so it's all right for me."

Asked if he considered himself in top shape, Bolt smiled before saying: "I'd better be ... well, I am in good shape still."

American Tyson Gay, who along with Jamaica's Asafa Powell rank among Bolt's top contenders, told a press conference on Monday that "there is pressure on Bolt".

Gay noted: "He's a young guy and he likes to have fun. People are expecting him to win the gold medal. I'm in the (background), but I've had some good practices."

Gay also said it will take a timing inside the 9.7s to win, as he predicted a very fast 100m final.

Asked about Gay's thoughts, Bolt replied: "Mi nuh know. Pretty much ... I don't know, I can't tell. Hopefully I am in the best form of my life and just go out there, stay focused and run."

Bolt, who chases the sprint double - a feat if accomplished would be the first in Jamaica's history - says he is not worried.

"I don't put myself under pressure ... I am not worried (about anything)," said Bolt, who aims to become the first sprinter to achieve the Olympic double since American Carl Lewis in Los Angeles in 1984.

The 100m heats start on Friday with the final set for the following day (9:30 a.m. Saturday morning Ja time).

She can bring any subject up, lead any discussion, and determine how its cut and edited for TV. She dismisses the comments of individuals who disagree with her perspective & she talks in circles around subjects she doesn't want the facts about. All this tells me is that her show is...

Fluff, not Stuff.
Her show is for entertainment purposes only. It doesn't get to the meat or the reality of any of the subjects she purports to discuss on her show. Every time I've watched I've felt cheated out of my 30 minutes or my hour because the 'good stuff' is never dealt with.

Do we really need an, "I'm okay, you're okay" advocate?
'Cause that's all she seems to get to at the end of the show. Everything's okay, every belief is okay, every diet is okay, everyone's body and health and lifestyle and religion and...need I go on? is okay. We get it. The entire world is now as politically correct as its ever been. Everyone is great by Oprah...I'm glad to hear it.

Her book club. Now don't get me wrong, I love reading & I'm glad that reading is being promoted, but really, everytime Oprah chooses a book to read, no matter what it's about, it instantly becomes a best seller & you see book covers plastered with "Oprah's Book Club" on it. Brittany Lyons Wins Miss Jam. World 2008


Congratulation to Brittany Lyons (Miss Logo Stitch) on winning the Miss Jamaica World 2008 competition held earlier tonight at the Jamaica Pegasus hotel in New Kingston.

19 years old Lyons, a graduate of the University College of the Caribbean strafed off fifteen other contestants to walk away with the crown and now will go on to represent Jamaica in the international leg of the competition later this year in Keiv, Ukraine.

This year seventy three (73) hopefuls entered from which forty four (44) were chosen before eventually being pruned to sixteen (16) at a private screening held at Spartan Health Club to face off for the title.

The 16 finalists were: (in alphabetical order) Arcadia Brown, Brittany Lyons, Chaka Lagurre, Danielle Brown, Danielle Bazzoni, Jade Grant, Jodion Henry, Marshagay Reynolds, Monique Daley, Nikita Byfield, Raecine Williams, Shaneka Sherise Simpson, Sian Watts, Staci-Lee Peart, Sydonie McBayne and Yanique Marie-Ann Levy.

Last night in Hong Kong, the police received a disturbing call from a man in trouble.

Xing, a 41 year-old man, was calling from LanTian park in the middle of the night. The lonely and disturbed man had apparently thought it would be fun to have sex with one of the steel sit-up benches around the park.

The bench has numerous small holes in it, which Xing used to attempt to satisfy himself. However, once he became aroused he found that he was stuck and could not get his penis out of the small hole.

He panicked and called the police to help him.

When doctors arrived on the scene they tried to release some of the pressure by removing some of his *lo**, but the penis was so swollen that they ended up having to cut the entire bench free and take it, with Xian attached, to the hospital.

4 painful hours later, Doctors finally separated Xian from his bench.

Doctors stated that if he had been stuck for even an hour longer, they would have had to remove his penis.

Lets just say this is probably one bad date that Xing will never forget.

Former world-record holder, Asafa Powell will never beat the new holder - Usain Bolt.

At least that's what Bolt's mother Jennifer says. And as they say, mom knows best.

Mrs Bolt said her son is too focused and can manage the crowd, the criticism, the big occasions and, unlike Asafa, can never be intimidated by anyone.

"Bolt will beat him, there is no way Asafa can win," she said when THE STAR visited Bolt's family in Sherwood Content, Trelawny, yesterday. "Asafa (is) too nervous and that is what is failing him now."

She believes that when it comes to the big occasion, Asafa will crack under the pressure, but says her son is a survivor.

"He has gone through it before, so he knows what it feels like," Mrs Bolt explained.

Usain Bolt knocked 0.02 seconds off Powell's 9.74s to set his name in the record books Saturday night as the fastest man in the world.

His parents, and literally everyone in Sherwood Content, were elated.

Powell hailed Bolt's historic achievement yesterday but vowed that he would reclaim the world record. "I know I can run in the 9.6s," Powell said in a statement.

But Mrs Bolt advises that if Powell is harbouring thoughts of taking back the spotlight, it would be best for him to keep those thoughts to himself.

"Him must tek time and talk and don't say so mek anybody hear," she warns Powell. "Him have to keep it a secret, 'cause if Bolt know, Bolt will prepare for him."

The dressmaker says she is confident her son will win gold in the sprint double in the Beijing Olympics in August and at the World Championships next year.

Bolt's father, Wellesley, recalls the final moments before his son's record-breaking run.

"When the race false-start, I began to fret 'cause I know the weather condition was not one he was very comfortable with. When it started the second time, I heard that he had a good start then I hear, 'Gay is gaining', then 'Bolt is moving away'. I didn't hear the end of the race because I started screaming because I know he couldn't be caught."

William Knibb Memorial High School (WKMHS) Class Two 200m boys' finalist Davion Wint, who lives in the Trelawny district, said, "I am going to work harder knowing that my community member is the world record holder. It will make all of us at his past school work harder."

Usain's neighbour, George Lewin, said, "From he was growing I knew he had the spirit in him to do anything. We are proud of him."

Another neighbour, Beverley Farquharson, said: "From he was small him used to train, him used to run from here to Windsor and back (about a two-kilometre distance), the mountain and the breeze help him, we proud of him."

Trelawny Custos Roylan Barrett added to the avalanche of tributes.

"I was not feeling well and remembered about the race and turned to the BBC. Immediately I heard the news, I felt better, knowing that a young person from my parish can perform such a fantastic feat," Barrett said.

DANCEHALL MUSIC

Dancehall is a type of Jamaican popular music which developed in the late 1970s, with exponents such as Yellowman and Shabba Ranks. It is also known as bashment.

The style is characterized by a deejay singing and toasting (or rapping) over raw and danceable music riddims. The rhythm in dancehall is much faster than in reggae, usually with drum machines replacing acoustic sets. In the early years of dancehall, some found its lyrics crude or "slack", particularly because of its sexual tones, popular among youths in Jamaica. Like its reggae predecessor, dancehall eventually made inroads onto the world music scene. It is the predecessor of hip hop music.

This deejay-led, largely synthesized chanting with musical accompaniment departed from traditional conceptions of Jamaican popular musical entertainment. Dub poet Mutabaruka maintained, "if 1970s reggae was red, green and gold, then in the next decade it was gold chains". It was far removed from its gentle roots and culture, and there was furious debate among purists as to whether it should be considered some sort of extension of reggae music.

JONESBORO, Ga. -- A choir director for a Catholic church in Jonesboro has been arrested and charged with multiple counts of sex-related crimes involving children.
Clayton County Police said 40-year-old Rafael Rojas-Lopez Garcia faces molestation and other offenses after he was accused of taking pornographic photos of a 6-year-old boy.
A spokesman for the Archdiocese of Atlanta said following Garcia's arrest, he was removed as the Hispanic adult choir director at Saint Phillip Benizi Church.

Garcia was placed in the county jail under no bond.
Police said there could be more victims and the investigation continues.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A Jacksonville man who admitted to police that he strangled and killed a puppy he had been asked to watch for the night was recently arrested.


Investigators with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said Jacob Lee strangled a dog to death because it had an accident in the house.


"The suspect lost it. He grabbed the dog and squeezed the life out of it -- literally," said JSO spokesman Ken Jefferson.


Police said the puppy didn't even belong to Lee. The pet's owner, who is on vacation, told Channel 4 by phone that her friend was watching the dog and it was that friend who left the dog with Lee.


The owner said the puppy was a female red-nosed pit bull that she only had for one week.


According to a police report, Lee admitted "the dog p***** on my bed," and then he went "ballistic killed the dog snapped its neck."


Police said Lee admitted he messed up and that he killed the dog in anger. They said he did so by squeezing its body.


"He literally just crushed the life out of the little puppy," Jefferson said.


Investigators said the dead puppy was discarded like trash. They said Lee put the puppy in a plastic bag, and then left it behind his house.


That's where investigators said they found the evidence to arrest Lee.


"Animal cruelty is a serious offense, up to the point where it's a third-degree felony. He could really spend sometime in jail," Jefferson said.


Lee remains in jail on animal cruelty charges. His bond has been set at $25,000.

Nine alleged murderers are among 21 policemen wanted for various criminal offences, who are on the run.

Warrants for the arrest of the fugitives are ready for execution, following intensive investigation by the Bureau of Special Investigations (BSI), the police unit, which was established nine years ago to investigate all fatal and non-fatal police shootings and allegations of police corruption.

We believe most of them have fled the country; one was recently held in New York and we are in the process of initiating extradition proceedings to bring him to justice, head of the BSI, Assistant Commissioner Granville Gause, told the Sunday Herald. 

The investigations, ACP Gause said, covered fatal and non-fatal shootings of civilians by policemen, along with cases of corruption between 1999 and 2007.

The nine alleged murderers include Constable Robert Oriley Coley, wanted on two counts of murder, two counts of illegal possession of firearm, and two counts of wounding with intent.  

Constable Coley, who was stationed at the Old Harbour Police Station, is wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of Omar Campbell and Clifton Knight on June 18, 2000, at Robin Red Breast Way, Phase I Seaview Gardens.

Hunts Bay
 Constable Walter Spike, who was stationed at the Hunts Bay Police Station, is wanted for the fatal shooting of Rene Lyons in July 2003, in Majestic Gardens, St. Andrew.

District Constable Clement Rose Green is wanted for the fatal shooting of Everton Stewart in March 2003, in Cambridge, St James. Constable Winston Graham, who was stationed at Half-Way Tree Police Station, has been on the run since he was implicated in the fatal shooting of Kemar Bryan at Twin Gates Plaza, Constant Spring Road, St. Andrew, in September 2001.

Also wanted by the law is Constable Mark Russell, for the fatal shooting of Ravain Thompson along Alexander Road in Kingston in July 2007. Constable Russell was stationed at the Hunts Bay Police Station. A colleague of Russell, Mark Lee, is also wanted for murder in connection with the same incident. 

Also on the run is Constable Lloyd Campbell of the Motorised Patrol team in St. James, for the fatal shooting of George McFarlane in December 2002.  

The incident occurred at Great River in the parish.
 Sergeant Derrick Bailey, who was also stationed at the Hunts Bay Police Station, is the highest-ranking force member on the run. He is wanted for the fatal shooting of Richard Williams in December 2002. The offence was allegedly committed along Spanish Town Road.

Another Hunts Bay cop, Constable Fidel Fletcher, is wanted for the fatal shooting of Kenneth Smith of Bell Rock in St. Andrew. 

Eleven of the other 12 fugitives are facing unlawful wounding, wounding with intent or assault occasioning grievous bodily harm charges, arising from shooting incidents in which civilians were injured. Two members are wanted on corruption charges. 

Since its inception in July 1999, the BSI has investigated 3,551 reports, ranging from murder to cases where policemen allegedly fired their weapons indiscriminately. The BSI investigators have completed 2,165 of these reports. 

Based on BSI data, 1,761 completed files were sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions and 384 to the Commissioner of Police. The DPP has ruled on 1,521 of these cases, resulting in 185 criminal prosecutions for murder and other gun-related charges. Some 116 of those charged were acquitted, 12 were convicted and 57 cases are still pending. 

The data showed that an average of 20.5 policemen have been charged annually as a result of BSI investigations. In 2004, a total of 50 cops were charged, the highest number since the unit was formed. weirdlc

NEW YORK -- Horrified bystanders banded together to lift a 5-ton school bus off a pregnant woman pinned underneath, enabling doctors to save her son.


Donnette Sanz, 33, a traffic agent for the city police department, was pronounced dead Thursday, shortly after her baby's birth by an emergency Caesarean section. The 3-pound, 6-ounce boy was in critical condition.


Sanz was walking across a Bronx street around lunchtime Thursday when she was struck by a van that pushed her in front of the bus.


"I ran out of my house to join 10 people trying to lift up the bus," said Cheryl Brown, 47. "At first, we couldn't get it up, so then another 10 people ran over to help, and we got the bus up and the lady out."


The van's driver, Walter Walker, was arrested on charges of criminally negligent homicide and driving without a license, police said.


"My brakes went out," said Walker, 72. "The light turned red, and I couldn't stop. ... I tried to miss her."


Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly said Walker had 20 suspensions to his driver's license.


Mayor Michael Blo****erg met with Sanz's husband, Rafael, at nearby St. Barnabas Hospital.


"It's a terrible poignancy that Donnette's son's birthday will now coincide with the day his mother died," Blo****erg said in a statement.


Sanz's sister, Beverly, said the baby was named Sean Michael.


St. Barnabas Hospital spokesman Fred Winters said Friday that the baby, while still in critical condition, "shows some signs of improvement and is basically healthy."

A man is being divorced by his wife after his penis extension snapped off during sex.

Doctors in Voronezh, southern Russia, had fitted the special prosthetic when Grigory Toporov, 47, told them he didn't measure up to his wife's expectations in the bedroom.

But she was horrified when the extension broke off during a wild sex session.

Police are trying to find a man who they say attacked a DJ after an altercation at a bar in Five Points, cutting out

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A man police said they believe attacked a disc jockey during an altercation near a Riverside bar last month has been arrested in New Orleans.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said the DJ was attacked in the early-morning hours of July near the Starlite Café. Police said the attacker gouged the man's eyes out.
The victim, 39-year-old Anthony Blakely, was found lying in the street just blocks from the bar. According to a police report, the DJ had life-threatening injuries and both of his eyes were protruding from his face.

"(It's) heartbreaking to think something like that would happen here," said one of the DJ's co-workers, Kir Kay.
Police identified Foster Leon, 30, as a suspect and obtained an arrest warrant charging him with aggravated battery.
Police got word Friday that Leon was picked up in New Orleans. They said a tip led U.S. Marshals to where Leon was hiding.
Investigators said Leon should be returned to Jacksonville in the next two or three weeks.
"We get the support from the community, we're going to get our man," said Jacksonville Sheriff's Office spokesman Ken Jefferson.
Friends of the victim told Channel 4 the man who loved playing music in the bar now has to rely on his hearing because the attack left him blind. They said he worked part-time as a DJ, and he may have got into a dispute with Leon over a girl.
"I cannot image what would drive somebody to do that," Kay said.
"Every now and then, something will come up that just takes us aback, that we've not seen or heard of or wouldn't ever think of happening -- this is such as case," Jefferson said.
Friends said Blakely moved out of state after the attack, but before he left they said he stopped by the bar to say goodbye.
"Very strong, very determined. I don't know what I'd do in his position. I'm proud of him. I can tell you that I'm proud of him," Kay said.
Blakely continues to recover from his injuries. A benefit concert to help defray his medical bills is scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday at the Starlite Café on Park Street.

24-Year-Old Charged With Lewd Or Lascivious Molestation

ORLANDO, Fla. -- A registered sex offender was arrested on suspicion of grabbing an 11-year-old girl's buttocks at Downtown Disney.
Jose Angel Pamblanco Morales, 24, of Orlando, was arrested Wednesday on a charge of lewd or lascivious molestation, WKMG-TV reported
According to the Orange County Sheriff's Office, a complaint about the incident was filed, and a man matching the description of the suspect was located in front of the BET Soundstage Club at Pleasure Island.

The girl positively identified Morales, and he was arrested.

AN East Kingston house belonging to an attorney representing Superintendent Harry 'Bungles' Daley was searched over the weekend by a joint police/military team.

The lawyer, Carolyn Reid, told the Observer yesterday that the search was conducted at her house approximately 5:30 am on Saturday while her mother was home alone. Reid said that she believed she was targeted by the police because of her involvement in the case involving Daley.

She said no warrant was presented and a reason was not given for the search.

"The possibilities are endless, certainly this possibility [her involvement in the Harry Daley case] is identifiable," Reid said when asked why her house was searched.
She said she has since sent off letters to the police high command, seeking an explanation as to why her house was searched.

Reid's colleague, Valerie Neita-Robertson, who appears with her in the Harry Daley case, yesterday said that the manner in which the search was conducted was a reflection of the police's disregard for the rights of citizens.

Yesterday, the constabulary's communication director, Karl Angell, was unable to confirm whether a search was conducted at the attorney's house.

Superintendent Daley was arrested on July 31 and several days later slapped with six counts of extortion and six counts of breaching the Corruption Prevention Act.
