876radio.com has just received some breaking news that Portmore Empire's front man Vybz Kartel and his bodyguard were arrested minutes ago at a popular recording studio in upper St. Andrew. It's alleged that the two were picked up by the Police and taken to an undisclosed location after an illegal firearm with ammunition was found in their possession. Details surrounding the arrest are sketchy at this time and we're not sure if any formal charges have been laid against them. However efforts by our team to contact sources close to the deejay proved futile but we will keep you posted as the story unveils. |
R&B superstar Beyonce is returning to the studio for her upcoming third solo album set for release this fall.
According to her label, Music World Music/Columbia Records, the multi-platinum selling singers latest untitled effort has been confirmed and will place her alongside hitmaker Justin Timberlake. Details are scarce as of now, but Timberlakes roles with the project should be released soon.
In addition to the soulful male singer, Beyonce has also tagged producer Jim Jonsin to help with the album from the recently leaked track Beautiful Nightmare. The Atlantic Records producer/songwriter was responsible for Lil Waynes record breaking single Lollipop.
The first two official singles, If I Were a Boy and Single Ladies are both set to hit the airwaves on Tuesday, October 7.
The untitled album is currently scheduled to hit stores on Tuesday, November 18.
As previoulsy reported, Beyonce recently joined a star-studded lineup including Mariah Carey, Mary J. Blige, Keyshia Cole, Rihanna and others for the single Just Stand Up to help support a cancer fundraising campaign.
The charitable song, which is currently available on iTunes, featured over 15 of the most popular female singers coming together to generate funds to support cancer research. The record, produced by Kenny Babyface Edmonds and Antonio L.A. Reid, also included vocals from Ashanti, Ciara, Fergie, Leona Lewis, Miley Cyrus, Natasha Bedingfield, Sheryl Crow, Melissa Etheridge, LeAnn Rimes and Carrie Underwood.
The single was performed live on the Stand Up to Cancer telethon last Friday (September 5), which aired on ABC, CBS and NBC and raised over $100 million in donations.
I have been with a man for four years. The problem that I have is with his mother. She came to New York for my husband's college graduation and took over my home. She also would touch him the way a mother does not touch a child. She would rub his chest, leg and kiss his neck. I explained that that is not normal. My husband and I would fight until the day she left. We had our first and only baby together. I cannot have another. We travelled to Florida to see her. She bought very little for the baby.
She spent about US$50 on the baby but, for my husband, she spent over US$1,000. She bought him a new cell phone because I gave him the one he had. She bought him a whole new wardrobe because the one he had was not good enough.
For Christmas, she only bought the baby one thing. His father lives in New York. And he is not with the mother. He spent tons on the baby. She has money. So to treat the baby the way she does is just not right. In what way can I show my husband that the one suffering is our child? I am afraid that, as the baby gets older, there will be problems between my baby and my husband.
C.E., New York, USA
Dear C.E.,
You must not come between a mother and her son. Have you considered that perhaps this woman loves her son more than anybody else in the world? Have you also checked up on yourself? Do you consider that you are very jealous and you are reading into every little thing that is happening with your husband and his mother?
Your baby is all right. If the woman wants to shower gifts on her son, say nothing about it. It is her son. Don't allow jealousy to destroy your marriage.

Since the independent release of his 2006 debut album "Step Out" on his own Network Records, Busy Signal has been working tirelessly to reclaim the top spot and etch his name in the scrolls of dancehall history. Two years later and only two days away Busy is once again getting ready to release his second album "Loaded" which is scheduled to officially hit the streets on Tuesday, September 9th , 2008. According to the versatile entertainer, fans can expect a lot of creativity of this album, a cadre of new and exclusive material coupled with some of the popular hits such as, 'Unknown Number', 'These Are The Days', 'Jail' and the female dancehall anthem 'Wine Pon Di Edge'. In the meantime, 876radio.com understands that the Signal is busy in the studios, recording new material while trying to help some of his compatriots such as DeMarco and others, as he strives to follow in the footsteps of his mentor Bounty Killer. Busy recently shot a new video entitled 'Tic Toc', his first with acclaimed Jamaican director Ras Kassa. The single will also be featured on his upcoming album. |
$37,000 party entry fee - LA Lewis plans extravagant launch for new song
Dancehall enigma LA Lewis is at it again. The self proclaimed seven-star general is planning an extravagant launch party for his new single Greatest Queen.
But don't think for a second that this is a free-for-all kind of event. Without an invitation, media or VIP pass, it will cost $37,000 to get in. That's right, $37,000.
To the average person, this will seem absurd, but Lewis, who describes himself as anything but average, believes it will be well worth it. After all, the deejay claims that the queen of England, Her Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth II, is expected to send a representative, legendary opera singer Curtis Watson will perform and the finest wines and Jamaican cuisine will be available.
The calibre of the event, he says, justifies the outrageous price tag. He said: "The kind of people that we're inviting and the people that are coming, dat is likkle bit a money."
Lewis, who gained popularity after his name was plastered on several walls islandwide, told THE STAR that the single will be a 'historic' one as being so 'close' to the queen, he managed to achieve a feat that no one has ever accomplished. "This is the first time ever the queen's voice will be on a song. We used her voice to do the intro," he said.
Constant dialogue
But Lewis' alleged reach does not stop there. He confidently and proudly told THE STAR that he was in constant dialogue with the queen herself and she was well aware of the event and the single being promoted in her honour.
While residents of her own country can only walk by Buckingham Palace and pose for pictures or read about her in the local papers, Lewis says that he can stay in Jamaica, pick up his phone and call the queen's office directly. He added: "We just call straight a Buckingham Palace. Time magazine, the British High Commission and everybody is aware of the party."
In spite of the incredibly exorbitant price tag, Lewis told THE STAR that the event has over 200 confirmed guests who have already collected their passes.
All guests will receive a complimentary copy of the single which was recorded by himself, Movie Star Gabrilliant and Lady EQ, as well as a one-of-a-kind token - a miniature British flag.
Those planning to stop by are encouraged to go early unless they don't mind watching the action on a screen downstairs, while the event takes place in the ballroom of the Olympia Crown Hotel. The event is set for September 12 at 7 p.m.
I've been living in the United States for four years. I have two beautiful kids and a wonderful husband or so I thought. After we got married, everything was ok. He took care of his kids. He worked and was able to take care of the bills. About a month ago, he started to act strange. When I asked him for money, he would tell me to get my own. I started to suspect that he was cheating on me. I decided to follow him one day after he came off from work. I saw him enter a bar. When he entered the bar, he was greeted by a man. At first I thought this might be one of his partners, but when the both of them left together, I thought this was a bit too strange. I confronted him about what I saw, but he denied it.
My best friend told me he saw my husband kissing another guy, but I was still in denial. On my daughter's third birthday we got into an argument. He told me he hated me and that's why he was turned off from women. I started crying as I realised that the man whom I have loved for 10 years is gay. I love him and don't want to lose him, but I grew up in a Christian home and was told not to judge. But how can I love someone who is in love with a man?
Pastor, I need your fatherly advice.
K.W., New York, USA
Dear K. W.,
This man has stopped supporting the family. And you have come to realise that he is having a sexual relationship with a man. He eventually admitted that he is "turned off from women". How can you stay with a man who is your husband and be in competition with his male lover? Madam, it is time to see a lawyer and bring an end to this relationship.

To the world, was the first thing Usain Lightening Bolt said as he returned to Jamaica yesterday to a welcome fit for the hero he has become. Bringing home his world record gold medals earned at this summers Olympic Games in Beijing, Bolt triggered an eruption of love, pride and immense joy amongst Jamaicans at home and abroad.
Throngs of people waited for him to arrive at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston yesterday afternoon.
As the man who made history in Beijing by winning the 100 and 200 meters in world record time descended from the aircraft, he struck the famous lightening pose. From the slight lean of the body, finger in the air to one side and the other arm outstretched Bolt paused for a moment before going into a few moves of the Usain Bolt dance; completely thrilling the enormous crowd.
Prime Minister Bruce Golding, Opposition Leader Portia Simpson Miller and Sports Minister Olivia Grange met Bolt as he stepped off the Virgin Atlantic flight yesterday afternoon. A celebration ceremony was held that evening at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel, where Bolt got a chance to meet with international press.
Returning ahead of his team mates, the 22 year-olds welcome acted also as the launching of many activities being arranged by the Ministry of Information, Culture, Youth and Sports. Prime Minister Golding announced a celebration is slated for October 3rd when all the other Jamaica Olympic team members will return home. It is expected to an elaborate affair with floats, a rally and so on.
The airport yesterday was overly packed with well-wishers and the Prime Minister said he hadnt seen a motorcade of this type since Nelson Mandela landed in Jamaica.
There were some requests from Bolts entourage for increased security at one point, as people were banging on his car. The Prime Minister said Bolt was not in need of security and the gestures were all acts of love. Jamaica is proud of you as you have proven that we are the best in the world, the Prime Minster stated. He further said that Usain Bolt was at this moment in greater demand that Barack Obama.
Urging all the athletes to make every effort to go back to their respective regions of Jamaica, the Prime Minister said they should spend time with community members, especially the children in schools.
Thanks to everyone for your support; I cant begin to tell you how I feel, Bolt told reporters and others. I am happy to come home and was really looking forward to it. Bolt vowed to keep Jamaica on top saying he is looking forward to dealing with the challenges involved.
On questions of his intention to donate to any Jamaican charities, Bolt said that his management is working with him to sort all that out and they have not yet made any final plans. His influence on the murderers in the garrisons where crime rates decreased during the Olympics, was questioned and Bolt said - they know it is all about unity now. I hope they keep the unity and what I want is for everyone to keep everything coolhold down the war and mek we just deal wid the unity right now.
Jamaicas oldest Olympian, Cynthia Thompson, who ran in the 1948 games was on hand along with two other former Olympians to greet Bolt.
Stewarts added a brand new BMW to the list of well-deserved gifts being showered on the Bolt.
I would like to tell you about my husband. He is a wonderful man. People have this bad perception about Jamaican men, but I have been blessed with a good one. He takes care of me and he respects me. I have never had someone love me the way he does. I just want to encourage everyone to first love the Lord and take Him at His word and accept His salvation and the Lord will give them the desires of their hearts. When you put God first, all falls into place. I never thought I would find someone to love me and accept me the way this man has. When I began to see myself the way God sees me, then he sent my husband into my life.
It has been five years now since we have been together. We have been married for two years. God says what He has for me is not to hurt me, but to bless me. This was a long-distance relationship too. The Lord kept us. I always pray and declare God's word over our relationship. Be encouraged those of you who are searching for true love. Love the Lord first. God is forever faithful.
Thank you for your time, Pastor.

I read recently that the Jamaica Constabulary Force 'inadvertently' purchased guns and ammunitions from an unauthorised - aka illegal - source. 'Wow', I said to myself. Look how our athletes performed so well at the Beijing Olympics eeh! And while these young people are lifting our national spirit and doing wonders for our international image, here comes another major embarra**ment pon wi little country, caused by incompetence.
Then, brapps, along comes another story in Monday's STAR about a police officer being physically assaulted by his colleagues. According to the story, the ISCF officers (we know dem as blue seam police) were conducting a traffic spot check and stopped the off-duty cop. They were allegedly far from polite in their request that he exit the vehicle, and, from my personal experience and observation, that's a regular thing. Some of those young fellows in the government uniform don't really represent the 'Jamaica' or the 'Constabulary'. They just bring on the 'Force', and it's usually brutish.
Well this officer made the mistake of expressing his displeasure about the manner in which they addressed him. So dem call di big man bwoy and gave him a proper beating, hand bruck, mout' buss up, face swell up, and clothes *lo** up. And, they did this to one of their own. Clearly, when it comes to the matter of brutality our police nuh partial! It nuh pretty at all.
I try hard though, to focus on and spread the really inspiring stories that make us feel proud to be who we are, like the story of a lady I met last week in the Washington DC area.
She is a very private lady, so I graciously agreed not to publicise her name, but look here nuh. This beautiful Jamaican lady was celebrating her 60th birthday and it was one of the best parties I have ever been to. When you see people in the 50-and-over age group drop legs, it is a joy to behold. Like I said, the birthday girl is 60 but, trust me, she looked more like 26 and exemplifies the phrase 'sexy at sixty'. She came from humble beginnings, in what her cousin calls Green Island DC (DC as in deep country) but she's made a good life for herself through dint of hard work and sacrifice. I travelled from Toronto to buss two jokes at her party, and, as I listened to the tributes, and observed the high esteem in which she is held by a clearly dignified and decent bunch of Jamericans, I said to myself: "This is one great Jamaican, and when I grow big I want to be like her".
So, although storms keep threatening, rain pelting the country and a few bad eggs continue to shoot the image of our police in the foot, I just think 'bout people like the Olympians and that hot, and successful lady, whose party I had the honour of attending. And, I remind myself that, yes, things rough, but Jamaicans great!
After almost two years of waiting the once popular Dutty Wine dance has been cleared of all charges and has been found not guilty.
Forensic test has revealed that a woman who was said to have died in 2006 because she was doing the dance in fact died from a heart disease.
THE STAR was shown a document from the police Forensic Laboratory on Monday that revealed that the dance was not the cause of death for Tanisha Henry. Henry in fact died as a result of Acute Coronary Insufficiency and Cardiomyopathy, a heart disease.
Allegations had been that on October 29 of that year, at a dance in the Thompson Pen community, Henry collapsed and died while doing the then popular dance. The woman's death was followed by several calls for the accused dance to be banned. There were several discussions and forums and even the creators of the dance were chastised.
However after the forensic tests were done the results were returned to the police earlier this week.
When THE STAR contacted a relative of Henry he said that the wait for the results had been long and tedious. He said that they were glad that the family had some closure on the matter.
Dancehall's most loved diva, Lady Saw, is in 'walk out' mode, and she's proclaiming it to the world. The lady has delivered the singles Sunday to Sunday and Your Man, songs which have surely found a groove within the dancehall and are getting love from radio. "The women just love the vibe and the lyrics of the songs and they go wild when they hear it, when I perform the songs live, it's just mad, If you know whe you man deh from Sunday to Sunday, gal walk up inna di video gal and just talk up ...." Lady Saw says, quoting a line from her hit single Sunday to Sunday that is currently in the number three spot on HYPE TV TOP 20 SINGLE CHART. The singles have been making such an impact that Saw will be making a medley video, a popular and creative way of getting two or more songs in video rotation at the same time. She explained that the passage of tropical storm Gustav caused her to postpone the original video shoot, however, as soon as it is rescheduled she will give out the new date. Video director, Nordia Rose and I are trying to find a suitable date," Saw said. On these two songs, Lady Saw chose producers she likes to work with Christopher Birch and Stephen McGregor. Undeniably, two of dancehall's most talented and prolific producers, McGregor and Birch seem to have a magic touch when it comes to building riddims that have huge dancehall appeal and their projects are straight from the hit factory. So, it should come as no surprise that when the top producers collaborate with the top female act the production is one that is headed for the top of the chart. Lady Saw, who recently returned from a highly successful European tour, says she is looking forward to returning to that continent in December for a series of shows with fellow dancehall act, Cecile. |
Dancehall powerhouse the Alliance has created history by having two of its Artiste's songs added to rotation on America's most important urban radio station, New York's HOT 97. Mavado's "So Special" and Serani's "No Games," both on the popular Unfinished Business riddim produced by TJ Records, have been added to daytime rotation by the station's Program Director. "Its been a while since Dancehall has had a song in rotation on commercial radio in the US," said Julian Jones-Griffith who manages both artistes. "So to have both records added at the same time endorses that Dancehall is still as strong as ever. We put in a lot of hard work to make this happen and if it wasn't for people like Jabba and Mister Cee up at HOT 97, and Johnny Wonder, this wouldn't have happened." Since both tracks are on the same beat, the station has mixed the two together. Serani and Mavado got rave reviews for their appearances at the HOT 97 On da Reggae Tip event held recently in New York. Mavado will be dropping his sophomore set, "Mr Brooks - a Better Tomorrow" on VP Records in November and will be making a triumphant return to New York on October 25 at Club Amazura. |

I moved to Miami nine years ago and met up with a guy I knew in Jamaica. He was the first guy I ever kissed and I thought I was in love with him. I gave him my virginity when I was 18. Things were good at first. He had a friend who was in jail. When he called the house he would talk to me and my sisters and we became friends. My boyfriend treated me very badly. He even brought a girl to the house to have sex because I wouldn't give it to him. When his friend got out of jail and started to visit the house we hung out a lot and had fun. I would talk to him about my feelings and he talked to me about his.
Friendly kiss
He is a nice person, and he never made a pass at me. I set him up with my little sister and they talked for a month. He would come to me and ask me questions about her and if she liked him, and I would say yes. Nothing really happened between them. They only kissed once. A friendly kiss on the lip, no tongue.
He and my sister stopped talking and my boyfriend and I broke up. We remained good friends. It turned out that he always had a crush on me and I had a crush on him too. As a matter of fact, we are in love with each other. He talked to my ex about it, and he said that he knew from a long time that he liked me and he had no problem with it. We still haven't acted on our feelings for each other.
Better man
My sister is married and has a child and she never liked him. I once told her that I had a crush on him, but she didn't say anything. He is in prison now because they found him guilty of the charges that he was locked up for. My sister knows that we write to each other. He is getting out soon and he said he wants us to be together because he made a lot of mistakes in his life and he wants to be a better man.
He is a nice guy, and I love him, but I don't know if I should just forget about our love or tell my sister that all these years I have been in love with him and the only reason I set them up was because I was in a relationship. Please, tell me what to do.
K. B., Florida, USA
Dear K. B.,
I will not encourage you to go any further with this man. He is a close friend of your ex boyfriend and he was dating your sister. I understand you have 'feelings' for him, but a good relationship has to appear clean from the very beginning. Your ex boyfriend was suspicious of both of you during the time your ex boyfriend and you were going together.
A good man does not become emotionally involved with his friend's girlfriend. And, if the girlfriend shows interest in him, he should stop her in her tracks. Therefore, both of you should be blamed for your closeness.
Then there is your sister. She will not be pleased if the relationship goes further. No explanation from you will be good enough.
The man is in prison. Write and tell him that it is over. Don't wait until he has served his time. Tell him now.

A startling crime has crippled traffic and sparked a city-wide hunt for a suspect after a man was shot several times before being tossed onto Highway 401 from a moving vehicle Tuesday.
The bullet-ridden body tumbled onto the busy eastbound collector lanes near Keele St. around 2:45pm. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, but it's not yet clear if he was killed by the gunshots, or was hit by oncoming traffic. The end result was the same however, and his body was covered by a blue tarp in the middle of the highway, where it remains.
As a result, the O.P.P. have completely closed all the eastbound collector lanes in the area.
It's believed the suspect's car, possibly a champagne-coloured Lexus, was seen racing away from the scene. Police believe that same vehicle was later found on fire at 2 Armel Court near Albion and Weston. That's directly in front of the Humber Valley Golf Course, which was subsequently cleared while police c****ed the area. The K-9 unit is on scene and police have set up a perimeter in the area.
There are reports the person who owns the car may be a woman. She may also be the main suspect. Torching a car is a classic way of destroying evidence, but it's not yet clear how the blaze was started. If the suspect was indeed trying to burn evidence, they may not have succeeded. Toronto Fire was on the scene quickly and it doesn't appear that the car was badly damaged.
In the meantime, fire trucks, ambulances and police continue to block all lanes of the highway where the body remains covered by a blue tarp. Traffic stuck behind the probe has been diverted, but the entire area remains clogged and chaotic. Drivers have been directed towards alternate routes like Lawrence, Wilson and Sheppard - and they too have quickly become plugged with traffic.
The closure is expected to last for several hours, since police have a large amount of evidence to process. Motorists are being advised to avoid the affected area if possible.
It means more highway havoc during the afternoon rush, and aggravates an already existing and unrelated mess near Avenue Road, after a truck spilled a load of wood in the westbound collector lanes, stopping traffic there, as well.

Usain Bolt ... has had a whirlwind summer. - Ricardo Makyn
Life in the fast lane slows down for Olympic champion Usain Bolt as he enters his off season and returns home this afternoon following a dream summer for the Jamaican sprinter.
When his plane lands at the Norman Manley International Airport at 1:15 p.m., Bolt will be greeted by a number of dig-nitaries, including Prime Minister Bruce Golding and Sports Minister Olivia 'Babsy' Grange.
Unlike the pace he used to win three gold medals, all in world record time in Beijing last month, Bolt will be leisurely escorted in a motorcade in a convertible car from the airport to The Jamaica Pegasus hotel where a press con-ference is scheduled for 3 p.m.
Organiser of the welcome party, the Ministry of Information, Culture, Youth and Sports, re-leased a statement saying: "Bolt's welcome will launch the start of several activities planned by the Ministry of Information, Culture, Youth and Sports to commence in October when all the members of Jamaica's Beijing Olympic team will return to the island on a special flight. They will lead a motorcade through the streets of Kingston, accompanied by spe-cially designed floats and effigies of the medal winners."
WORLD'S ATTENTION
From May 31 when Bolt sup-planted fellow Jamaican Asafa Powell (Bolt ran 9.72 to better Powell's 9.74 record) as the world's fastest man in New York to his season-ending duel with his compatriot in Belgium on Friday, Bolt has held the world's att-ention. Bolt mania peaked during the Beijing Olympics when he won the 100m (9.69), 200m (19.30) and sprint relay (37.10) and popularised a few of Jamaica's dance moves in his celebrations. He also ensured the world saw which spikes donned the feet of this Olympic champion.
Bolt's fine form continued after the Olympics. Days after leaving Beijing, he competed in the 100m at the Zurich Golden League on August 29 and posted 9.83 seconds. He then ran a comfortable 19.63 in the 200m in Switzerland last Tuesday (the fourth-fastest time ever) before coming from behind to beat Powell on Friday - 9.77 to 9.83.
Bolt, Powell and the other 52 Olympians will be duly recognised by the Government next month.
Commenting on plans for the Olympic celebrations, Grange said: "We have had short notice, but we are pulling out all the stops to make this celebration a fitting tribute to the glory our Olympic athletes have brought to Jamaica. We want to show our pride and our gratitude to these young men and women of Jamaica, and to showcase them as role models for our youth and symbols of excellence for our entire population at home and abroad."
MOTORCADE ROUTE FOR USAIN BOLT
1. Depart tarmac at Norman Manley International Airport - escorted through gate one.
2. Drive along departure and arrival route to exit airport.
3. Travel to Harbour View roundabout.
4. East to Mountain View Avenue.
5. Left on Arthur Wint Drive.
6. Right on Tom Redcam Avenue.
7. Across traffic light on to Oxford Road.
8. Right on Knutsford Boulevard.
9. Right into Jamaica Pegasus.
A man who robbed a woman of her breakfast was recently arrested and brought before the court to answer to the offence, which took place in Manor Park, St. Andrew, last month.
Michael Evans, the accused, yesterday had his bail extended until October 28, when the matter will come back to the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court.
Allegations are that the woman had just purchased breakfast at a restaurant in Manor Park and was putting her change, from the purchase in her pocket. It was at this point, the court was told, that Evans, came up to her and grabbed her $500 change.
A light tussle then developed between both parties during which the complainant turned away and called for help. Evans then grabbed the breakfast that the woman had just bought before bolting off.
The matter was reported to the police who subsequently apprehended Evans and slapped him with charges of larceny of the person and simple larceny.
Fifty-four-year-old Don Gorske says he hit the milestone last month, continuing a pleasurable obsession that began May 17, 1972 when he got his first car."

Usain Bolt, Beijing's triple Olympic gold medallist, has warned main rivals Asafa Powell and American Tyson Gay that he is ready for another battle next season.
Bolt, who has only lost once to Powell over the 100m distance this season, ended as the top man in the event.
Apart from winning the Olympic title, Bolt broke the world record twice. He lowered his world-record mark of 9.72, achieved in May, by running 9.69 to take the Olympic gold.
"I told the two best guys, Asafa (Powell) and Tyson (Gay), that I am looking forward to them (next season)," Bolt said.
Promise
Bolt said he told them, "I know you guys are coming next season, but I will be ready."
Bolt, who also broke the 200m record by running 19.30 for his second Olympic title and helped Jamaica to the 4x100m title, also in a world record of 37.10, admitted: "It's hard to get to the top, but it's harder to stay on top.
"I know they are also looking forward to the competition," continued Bolt, who became the first man since Carl Lewis in 1984 to win the sprint double.
Bolt added: "If you see somebody beating you, you know the only way you can beat that person is to run faster. So, I know they are coming faster next year ... but a lot of people know that I have a lot more in me, so I am looking forward to it."
I couldnt help but laugh when I read this story on the Jamaica Observer website. Mexican journalists ejected from Jas training session
It turns out that the two camera men who were asked not to film the Reggae Boyz during their training decided to get the footage anyway. This outraged technical director Rene Simoes and others who insist that both men leave immediately after they were saw taping. Others agreed and it was adios senor to both spies journalists.
There has been reports that our Mexican amigos are worried or concern that Jamaica might make them fight in this group to qualify for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. The Mexican coach Mr Sven-Goran Ericksson is quoted as saying:
I am a bit worried about them (Jamaica)They are strong, tall, robust and powerful. I believe they proved themselves in the draw against Canada. I respect them a lot.I dont know how prepared they are But whatever shape they turn up in, we have to win.
Frankly I dont know if he is just trying to lower expectations in his own country or maybe he really is worried.Mexico is a top ranking country on the FIFA tables and there is no doubt that Jamaica is the underdog . After Beijing however the world is sitting up and taking notice as we emerge as stronger sports nation.
Yes siree, Jamaica is ready to kick ass and take names.
Make no mistake Mexico is a football powerhouse in the world. We can expect a really good game tomorrow which by the way will be played at, as the Jamaica Observer puts it the feared Azteca Stadium in Mexico City . The game was supposed to be played at the National Stadium aka the office but Hurricane Gustav decided spoil our plans. Gustav inflected damage on the stadium so FIFA changed the game to the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City. Because they had to change this home game for Jamaica to an away game for us. The match scheduled for October 11th,2008 in Mexico City, will now be played in Kingston, Jamaica.
So the boys head off to the big and scary Azteca Stadium in Mexico City tomorrow. If my memory serves me right wasnt this the venue of the football brawl Jamaica had with Mexico when we were on the road to France in 1998. We are not afraid the ball is round.

Mavado who will be bringing his hard-edged Gangsta Fi Life persona to the film will play the role of a sinister character known only as "Gully God". The film will also feature other Dancehall Recording artists such as KC Jockey, the late Rraw Dawg, who was gunned down in front of a D.C. Night Club earlier this year and Flippa Mafia who with popular New York sound system selector Nohard "Noah" Grant ("Son-Son" in Bashment: The Fork in the Road) encumber lead roles alongside Sakina Samuda and Kim Goss.
Just last week the news that sports manufacturing giants Nike will be including Mavado in a promotional campaign to support the 2008 summer Olympics in Beijing China this alongside the now second fastest man in the world Asafa Powell. Hailed in a recent Rolling Stone Magazine article as the best reggae artist since Bob Marley and Peter Tosh Mavado continues to make history and so we should salutes this achievement.

A few months ago 876radio.com told you that Portmore Empires' frontman Vybz Kartel had once again teamed up with his business partner Corey Todd on another Corporate venture. First it was Vybz Rum, now it's a new contraceptive to promote safer sex. Three months ago the duo had issued a challenge to the public to assist in finding a name for the product (a condom) in return for a handsome reward. From the scores of submissions received a consensus was reached on the name "Daggerin". Initially the official release date for the "Daggerin" condom which sports the tag line "Playsafe Ramp Ruff Till Game Ova" was set for August 20th, 2008, but due to some unforeseen circumstances it has been pushed back to the second week in September. 876radio.com was told that he condom will be distributed islandwide starting this week and will be available at all Super Plus supermarkets and Total gas station throughout the country. Daggerin Unlimited the company responsible for the condom is set to launch a series of event across the island to increase awareness and in the process a search will be conducted for an official spokeswoman for the brand. Here is a sample of the actually product for your viewing pleasure (see image below) |
In recent tunes from dancehall deejays, vybz kartel and movado, i have seen lyrics from both parties which would suggest that the two are at a lyrical war again. This started with the release of the Daybreak Riddim. Movado's song says "Shatta nuh bleach wid cream, we bleach wid we M16," While Kartels lyrics say " 3'o clock inna di morning when dem a walk up and dung wid dem tall ting, we have dem woman pan wi c*cky head balling".
Now, on a newer riddim, Day rave riddim, if you listen to both artistes' song you might get the impression that they are talking about each other..
Movado now has a new tune entitled "dem a fag" in which it is quite obvious as to who he is talking about. A line from Vybz's counteraction to this song says "mi nuh waah be nuh gully god, bare fish inna di gully and daag shit and dutty pad!"
Now the question that many are asking is " What's going on with both artistes?" Was going on TV and and having this big press conference a waste of time? or are they 'making up' a feud to make money? hmmm
Dear Pastor,
I am a 15-year-old girl who's in a bad situation. I am pregnant for my cousin. He's my aunt's son. I am so ashamed. I ran away from home. The worst thing is I don't know if it's my uncle's child or my cousin's because I was having sex with both of them before I missed my period.
My mother doesn't want me in her home because she thinks I will have sex with her man, so I was living with my grandmother when it happened. My other boyfriend is 55 years old and it could be his too. I am not sure. He's not really my boyfriend. He's just a guy who I have sex with for money.
My real boyfriend attends high school and he could be the father too. I used to have sex with my aunt's boyfriend until one night she found him on top of me. She kicked me outside naked as the day I was born. We began to fight and she was the one who won the fight. Her boyfriend is still having sex with me so that means I could be pregnant for my cousin, my uncle, my 55-year-old man, my aunt's boyfriend or my boyfriend who attends high school.
K.M., St James, Jamaica
A 23-year-old man was arrested last week following the alleged raping of a woman at a bank in Red Hills, St. Andrew.
Sean Williams, 23, from Mickleton district in Linstead, St. Catherine, was charged with rape following the alleged incident at the National People's Coope-rative Bank of Jamaica. Williams, a customer service representative at the bank, was granted $50,000 bail in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday. He returns to court on October 3.
Holiday job
It is alleged that about 1:30 p.m., the woman, who is a sixth form student at a high school, but was doing a holiday job at the bank, was locked in an office.
It is further alleged that a hand was forced into her pants and her zipper was burst open and a finger forced into her vagina. She reportedly tried to escape but was pushed on a desktop where she was allegedly raped.
The matter was reported to the police and following investigations by detectives from the Centre for the Investigations of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse, Williams was taken into police custody and later charged.
lol.... some man really thirsty star.....
Just a day into the new school year, five students were injured in an accident.
As the lead story in Thursday's STAR indicated, the accident occurred in Moneague, St Ann, and involved three vehicles. This is a very bad way to begin the academic year and it emphasises the need for caution on our roads.
In any given school year, several students are injured and sometimes, regrettably, killed in motor vehicle accidents. In this case, thankfully, no one was killed, but it could have been much worse.
Though the police will argue that they are trying their best, we believe that much more can be done to deter motorists from unsafe driving habits. While the police could not confirm the allegations, it is believed that speeding, as it is in many cases, was the cause of this accident.
Stronger means of punishment should be meted out to motorists who break the law and this needs to be done in such a way that they are always aware and conscious of the penalties they will face if they are caught.
Whether we like to believe it or not, many motorists think that they can argue their way out of punishment and, therefore, make no real effort to stay within the boundaries of the law or the speed limit, for that matter.
Motorists who are reckless on our roads should not be allowed to escape punishment, and a strong message along this line needs to be sent.
Freehold, IA Official Press Release: This month, Landover Baptist Community College Computer Science instructor, Pastor Isaac Peters, along with ten of his hard-working male students, unveiled the results of a six-month Christian Service Project that is sure to take the computer world by storm. They have developed the first known True Christian Operating System: JesOS. The system is being released to the Christian public, although the log-in sound effect still needs some work.
The project was initiated out of Godly concern that Christians are persecuted daily by being forced to use Godless, secular humanist operating systems. Apple uses its corporate logo as a clear allusion to the fall of mankind, says Mr. Peters, and Windows funds a foundation set up by notorious atheist 'do-gooder,' Bill Gates, which seeks to help people in this life while paying no attention to their eternal destinies. And of course Linux is the handiwork of America-hating Europeans. Quite frankly, knowing this, the response of any Christian should be, I plead the power and blood of Jesus Christ over my keyboard! Demons out! Peters assures potential buyers that JesOS is made by Christians, for Christians! And the coding will never be outsourced to a country where they worship cows.
JesOS Sanctifies and Enhances a Christ-like, Comfortable, and (Lord Willing) an Unsaved-Free Computing Experience for True Christians by Providing the Following Features:
