Rick Ross Responds To Losing iTunes Sales Battle With Lloyd Banks

With Lloyd Banks diss track Officer Down charting above his lead single Magnificent on the iTunes Top Songs Chart last week, Rick Ross spoke to XXLMag.com last night (March 23) to discuss his lukewarm sales reception, despite the glowing reviews for his upcoming album, Deeper Than Rap, at a recent listening party.
I dont really go by iTunes, said Ross, dismissing the value of the retailers figures, though it tracks purchases as opposed to just spins. They just cant really judge the streetsyou gotta judge a c****ination.
Of Banks relative success, Ross countered, Well, I dont know anyone who buys it, adding, My record is a Top 10 record on Billboard a reference to Magnificent holding down the #9 spot on Billboard Hot Rap Tracks chart.
The news of Ross struggling sales seemed to compound his problems, coming on the heels of rival 50 Cent releasing the now-infamous sex clip starring the mother of one of Ross children. In discussing the video, the Miami rapper hit back, I dont think they should release another Lloyd Banks gay tape.
Although the gay tape in question stars adult actor Brian Pumper, who bears a striking resemblance to the G-Unit rapper, Ross went on to say, Google it when you get time. I know if you like me, you dont watch gay tapes. Millions of people wanted to confirm it with him and thats what theyve done.
Other than that, Ross added, Im focusing on the people thats focusing on the music. If you watching the business, you can work for me. And dont argue about working for freemaybe I can pay you one day. I make music for the fans.
Deejay Harry Toddler Charged
Toddler was issued a stern warning after being fined J$1,500 or ten (10) days in jail for his performance at the recently concluded New York/ Miami Link-Up Spring Break showcase at Long Bay Beach Park in Negril, Westmoreland. According to the deejay he was not aware that the profanity had slipped out, due to being so engrossed in the performance. However during the hearing the apologetic entertainer said he would like to apologise to the court and the people of Westmoreland, adding that he will exercise more restraint in the future. Harry Toddler grew up in Waltham Park area of Kingston but spent most of his time hanging out in the Seaview Gardens community, where he would often see deejay Shabba Ranks chatting some of the hardest lyrics he had ever heard. Inspired by the works of his Grammy winning icon, Toddler, who has being deejaying from age nine (9) decided to go professional with his craft. He went to the King Jammys studio, where he subsequently recorded Gal Yuh A Lead in 1990, which did fairly well in the dancehall. After recording numerous songs as a solo act Harry Toddler hooked up with deejays Elephant Man and Boom Dandimite and singer Nitty Kutchie to form the Scare Dem Crew. This dynamic quartet recorded a string of hits, including Bay Gal Want Mi, Many Many, Dont Care For You and their first number one, Badman Nuh Dress Like Girl. |
Barrett was reported missing on Sunday March 15 and his body was found buried in sand at a dump near the airport a week later.
The police say a passerby contacted them after seeing two hands protruding from the sand heap.
The body was dug up and found to be in a decomposing state.
The results of an autopsy showed that Barrett died of suffocation.

The Miami Herald reported that T-Pain had received a $75,000 advance for his appearance, which Chase Entertainment offered to return.
''We feel horrible about not being able to play the concert,'' Chase Entertainment's David Abram told The Miami Herald. "We are going to do what needs to be done to make this right with the promoters They're a good company. We're a good company.''
In addition to being sued for breach of contract, Hits and Jams is suing or libel, defamation and court costs.
American hip-hop star T-Pain is being sued Hits and Jams (H&J for his non appearance at a show in Guyana.
According to a story carried in the Guyana Chronicle the company filed an action on Monday, in the 17th Judicial Circuit Court, Broward County, Florida, United States (U.S.), against hip hop superstar T-Pain and Company.
The US$5M claim is for breach of a written contract, libel, defamation and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
A release from the plaintiff said T-Pain was scheduled to perform at Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) February 23 last, but cancelled the appearance after what his camp described as credible kidnapping and death threats to the singers life.
H&J said, despite several requests, the American superstar and his management team refused to provide the source of the alleged threats to the promoters and their attorney, law enforcement, the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) and the U.S. Consulate in Guyana, to facilitate a probe.
H&J said the R&B artiste and his team merely informed them and their attorney that the threats came from a credible source that T-Pains camp trusted and who they have been dealing with in Guyana and that T-Pain has dealt with the source in the past.
After T-Pain cancelled the Guyana show, several false and incorrect reports in the international media attributed the cancellation of T-Pains appearance in Georgetown, to the promoters, Hits and Jams Entertainment.
The press releases also falsely attributed personal knowledge of the alleged telephone and e-mail threats to the promoters. The promoters do not possess any personal knowledge of the alleged threat or the credibility of the alleged threats, H&J said.
The statement said, according to the first clause of the action, for breach of contract, obtained from the local promoters, they are seeking an award of general and special damages in the above quoted amount, which is in excess of the jurisdictional limits of the Circuit Court, attorneys and Court fees, pre-judgement interest and such other relief the Court deems just and proper, against the defendants.
It added that the plaintiffs, respectfully, reserve the right to seek and assert a claim of punitive damages pursuant to the requirements of Florida Statute 768.72.
Three other causes of action, filed against the defendant, are for libel, defamation and intentional infliction of emotional distress, each seeking US$15,000 awards.

This woman has eaten you out and now you are going with her friend. What's wrong with you? Tell this married woman the relationship is over. If you don't, the day will come when you will walk and talk to yourself and you will come down to nothing. Stay away from her. I gave him the example of the dog walker I had run into a couple of weeks ago. While I was eating lunch, the dog walker came down the street with six dogs, let them all free to run around in the gra** area, put them all back on their chains and started walking them home in the hour I was sitting there. What are the costs to starting a dog walking business? Very little.
I approached him and asked how much he charged to walk the dogs. He said he charged $20 to $25. Multiply that by 6 dogs and that comes to $120 - $150. Even with taking the dogs to the park and taking them back, I would estimate it would take him 2 hours round trip, maybe three at the very most. I figure he can make 2 trips a day at the minimum ($240 - $300) and possible three trips ($360 - $450) a day. That is certainly a decent income for a job that costs practically nothing to begin.
As I talked with my friend more, it seemed that is wasnt the fact that businesses can be started with little money (Im another example of that), but that money isnt instantaneous. If youre hired with a base salary, you get a paycheck a few weeks later and that certainly isnt the case when you start a business. It probably took the dog walker a fair amount of time (most likely a lot longer than a few weeks) to find the customers he has.
What I finally figured out was that he felt if you have a lot of money to start a business, then you have extra money to pay yourself a salary while the business is getting off the ground. This gives you security while the business is getting off the ground so you can do it full time instead of part-time as you grow it. While I understand his thinking, it doesnt change the fact that there are a lot of opportunities out there that cost little money to get the enterprise going

10 Certificate Programs Than Can Add Dollar Signs to Your Resume
1. Financial Planning: With a nationwide focus on retirement savings, investing options, and other financial issues, Certified Financial Planners (CFP) are a hot commodity, and schools such as the University of Texas, Austin are meeting the demand with certificate programs. "About half of the students in the program already work in the field, while the other half are changing careers," says Kenneth Price, director of the school's financial planning certificate program, and a CFP and ChFC (Chartered Financial Consultant) with Austin Asset Management. The University or Texas program, like that of other schools, is short term, comprised of just seven courses.
"For career switchers who become CFP practitioners, starting salaries can range from $40,000-$50,000," adds Price. Salaries in 2007 for those with a CFP averaged $97,000, according to the College for Financial Planning's Survey of Trends in Financial Planning. Personal Financial advisor ranks among the top three best jobs in surveys by Salary.com, CNN, and Fast Company magazine.
2. Database Administrator: According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), database administrators in May of 2006 were earning anywhere from $62,000 to over $100,000 annually. The University of Denver is among the many institutions at which you can earn a certificate to break into the field in less than a year, says Mike Whitford, enrollment manager. All six courses (24 credits) are offered online in this graduate level program.
"Eighty percent of our students are working professionals. They are interested in becoming database analysts, architects, and engineers," says Whitford. While the program is new, one recent graduate scored a job as a database management advisor making $95,000 annually, he explains.
3. Oracle: The largest vendor of database systems and the second largest independent software company in the world, Oracle is one of the most sought after certifications at the post secondary level. At Penn State Great Valley campus, you can earn a certificate in an Oracle workforce development program using textbooks and taking just three courses. "This is a learn-it-tonight, use-it-tomorrow kind of program," says Jay Polakoff, program manager of continuing education at Penn State's graduate-level-only satellite campus. "Most students who enroll are already in the IT field and are looking to upgrade their career to go into software development," he says. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics in 2006, the national average salary for a software engineer was $87,250.
4. Information Security Management: In a post 9/11 world, more and more professionals are needed to manage and safeguard complex technical security for companies and government agencies. Syracuse University is among the many schools with coursework to help meet this societal demand. Syracuse's five-course (15 credit) certificate has been popular since 2003.
"Students can get positions related to information security in industry or government agencies," says Joon Park, Ph.D., director of the Certificate of Advanced Study (CAS) in Information Security Management at the university. "I expect starting salaries to be $50,000-$80,000 annually," she adds.
5. Negotiation or Leadership and Management: "Certificates [in these areas] can make an executive more marketable, or a CEO gain the knowledge they may not have to lead the company," says Peter Schatschneider of University Alliance, a group of online universities. "Professionals can learn soft skills or hard skills like project management."
The University of Notre Dames Mendoza School of Business in conjunction with University Alliance offers these two executive certificates each consisting of three, eight-week courses. Taught by Notre Dame professors in streaming video lectures, voiceover IP and interactive chat rooms, e-mail and whiteboards, for many executives it's a chance to learn specific skills that will further their careers. One recent certificate graduate, Richard Multack, used his Notre Dame certificate to get a promotion of Chief Medical Officer for an 80-physician medical group in the suburbs of Chicago.
6. Entrepreneurship: When students at the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania asked for courses in entrepreneurship two years ago, a new certificate was created to fulfill their needs. Under the executive education umbrella and Wharton Programs for Working Professionals, many students who take this six-course certificate are working in other industries or are in middle management and want to launch a business, a new department, or help others do so.
"Some students have established businesses and want to step it up, branch out globally, or add e-commerce," says Wendy B. McGeehan, program director. "We get doctors and lawyers who would like business fundamentals." Course credits can be applied toward an MBA if students choose to further their studies. Additionally, students can put their courses to work in the Wharton Small Business Development office, which assists Philadelphia small business owners who need help growing their businesses.
7. Legal Nurse Consulting: Legal nurse consultants are the liaison between lawyers and the health care community, often giving testimony in the courtroom during cases related to medical litigation. These professionals even have their own American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants. (AALNP).
With many certificates taking less than one year to earn, such as the University of Delaware's program, becoming certified often brings an excellent return on investment. There, registered nurses with three years of experience can earn a certificate in this emerging field in just 36 Saturdays. Graduates often end up going into business for themselves, and with experience can earn up to $150 per hour.
8. Forensic Nursing: "There is such a curiosity about this area now," says Jennifer Campbell, program coordinator of the University of California at Riversides online program in forensic nursing, which focuses on providing services to victims of violence. The 10-course program, which can be completed in a year, requires an LVN (licensed vocational nurse), LPN, RN or paramedic background.
"Most of the graduates use the applications in their current jobs or create a niche in the hospitals they work in," says Campbell. Some become sexual assault nurse examiners, crime scene and death investigators working in medical examiners offices, or emergency rooms. Kaplan University, which also offers the one-year program, cites salary ranges from the International Association of Forensic Nurses at $55 to $300 per hour.
9. Commercial Real Estate: Nicholas Anderson completed his commercial real estate certificate (a total of eight courses) at Boston University in one year taking classes three nights a week. "I didnt switch careers after I finished," explains the commercial real estate debt products underwriter at Bank of America. "For me, it was a chance to differentiate myself for graduate school, and to keep building my network of other young real estate professionals."
About half of Andersons classmates were people looking to break into the real estate industry, who needed an introduction to basic skills. According to Salary.com, commercial real estate managers earn an average of $120,000 to $162,000 annually. Boston also offers a certificate in real estate finance and property management.
10. Computer Forensics: "The industry is clamoring for techs right now because there are many people in the next 10 years who will be retiring from the field," says Deb Geoghan, computer and information science coordinator for Bucks County Community College (BCCC) in Newtown, PA. "There will be a greater need for programmers, database managers, and networking and security specialists in the next decade, but one of the hot commodity predictions is in computer forensics." A new 32-credit certificate at BCCC in computer forensics includes a former FBI agent as an instructor. The program presents an examination of computer science, criminal justice, and computer forensicsrecovering deleted filesand jobs can be found working in regional computer forensics labs or in homeland security. Because it's a fairly new and fast-growing field, the job outlook is favorable, as is the possibility of a hefty salary.
Shootout At Entertainer's Home
According to an alleged eyewitness they told 876radio.com that the residence of the entertainer became the battleground for a *lo**y shootout between a Police party who was on patrol in the Westminister area early this morning after being tipped that several men wanted in connection with various crimes were spotted in the area. The police who quarantined the apartment complex searched several homes before eventually finding and engaging the men in a shootout. It's understood that a woman aligned to the entertainer was tied up and taken hostage but luckily the entertainer and his son escaped unharmed. When 876radio.com visited the area there was a heavy police presence and several roadways were blocked as the lawmen engaged the men in a stand off. Man accused of impregnating daughter pleads guilty to incest
AP Defendant Josef Fritzl covers his face prior to the start of his trial for incest on Monday, March 16, ST. POELTEN, Austria A man accused of imprisoning his daughter for nearly a quarter of a century and fathering her seven children repeatedly raped her in front of the youngsters, prosecutors said Monday as his trial opened in Austria.
Josef Fritzl hid his face behind a blue file folder as a judge began the proceedings under heavy security in St. Poelten, 65 kilometers (40 miles) west of Vienna. Fritzl pleaded guilty to incest and false imprisonment, but only partially guilty to charges of coercion and rape. He pleaded not guilty to murder and enslavement.
Police say the 73-year-old has confessed to holding his daughter for 24 years in a cell he built beneath his home. Investigators say DNA tests show he fathered her six surviving children.
One of the children died in infancy, and prosecutors charged Fritzl with murder, contending the baby might have survived if Fritzl had arranged for medical care.
In her opening statement, prosecutor Christiane Burkheiser accused Fritzl of raping his daughter in front of the children.
Burkheiser said Fritzl didn't talk to his daughter during her first few years in captivity. She alleged that Fritzl once punished the young woman by shutting off electricity to the dungeon.
Defense lawyer Rudolf Mayer appealed to the jury to be objective and not swayed by emotions. He insisted Fritzl was "not a monster."
Fritzl faces up to life imprisonment. A verdict is expected by Friday.
Fritzl's voice was weak and soft as he gave the judge his name and other personal details Monday.
Before the trial got under way, Mayer told The Associated Press his client was nervous.
"He told me, 'I'm scared, Mr. Mayer,'" the lawyer said.
Fritzl eventually removed the folder, but sat still in the dock and stared straight ahead.
Mayer said he had no particular strategy for Fritzl's defense.
Authorities say Fritzl imprisoned and repeatedly raped his daughter, Elisabeth, in the cramped and windowless dungeon he built beneath the family's home in the western town of Amstetten. The crime stunned people worldwide when it came to light last April.
Security was tight in St. Poelten. Police imposed a no-fly zone above the courthouse to dissuade reporters from renting helicopters for aerial shots and to prevent prison breaks from the jail next door where Fritzl has been in pretrial detention.
Mayer welcomed the security, saying both he and Fritzl had received threats over the past year.
Three of the children grew up underground in Amstetten, never seeing the light of day. The other three were brought upstairs to be raised by Fritzl and his wife, Rosemarie, who apparently believed they had been abandoned.
The children, together with Elisabeth, initially recovered from their ordeal in a psychiatric clinic and then were moved to a secret location. Seeking refuge from reporters, they have since returned to the clinic, where security guards are on high alert.
It is the normal policy of The Associated Press to withhold the names of victims of sexual assault, but the identities of two of Fritzl victims have become known. In this case, withholding of the names by the AP became impractical when their first names and the full name of their father were announced publicly by police and details about them became the subject of massive publicity both in their home country and around the world.
None of the victims is expected to testify in court. Instead, the eight-member jury will see prerecorded video testimony from both Elisabeth and one of her brothers, Harald.
In Austria, which does not have the death penalty, murder carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment. If convicted of enslavement, Fritzl could face up to 20 years behind bars. For rape, he could get up to 15. Incest is punishable by up to one year in prison.
The conviction with the highest penalty will determine the length of the sentence.
Police in Michigan say a 15-year-old boy has died after being Tasered by officers who were trying to break up a fight.
Police didnt release his name and say state police are investigating.
A Bay City police news release says officers answered a report of an early morning fight on Sunday. The statement says two males were arguing in an apartment, and one of them attempted to fight the officers.Police say officers Tasered him, and his reaction led them to immediately call for emergency medical help. He was pronounced dead at Bay Regional Medical Center.
An Amnesty Internationalreport claims that more than 300 people have been killed after being Tasered since 2001 in the US.

Popular dancer, Colo Colo and his girlfriend were both attacked during a video shoot.
According to news report, the incident took place Wednesday night in Half Way Tree. It's alleged that during the video shoot they were attacked by a group of conductors. According to the dancer, the men approached them and asked if they could be apart of the video shoot, an altercation aroused between his girlfriend Lisa Brown and the men. The men then left the scene and return with weapons which were used to inflict wound on Colo Colo, his girlfriend got her mouth busted.
The matter was reported to the Half Way Tree police by Colo Colo who managed to escape from the men.

After 20 years the Simpsons have changed their opening sequence. Lastnight the show had its premier in HD and with it brought the first revamp of the main titles since 1989.
While some of the old parts remain (Bart still writes on the chalk board, Lisa still saxes her way out of music class, and Homer still throws radioactive material down his shirt) most of it has changed to catch up on 20-seasons worth of character additions. Apu's octuplets now appear in the opening as do Maggie's nemesis, the unibrow baby, and the crazy Texan millionaire, all added since the original sequence was created.

Programmer replaces missing finger with thumb drive

A computer programmer who lost half his finger after his motorbike crashed into a deer has had the finger replaced with a USB drive.
Jerry Jalava, from Finland, says the two-gigabyte prosthetic finger is not permanently attached to his hand, allowing him to leave his finger in the computer slot and "pick it up after I'm ready".
The silicon prosthetic looks like a normal finger, but can be peeled back at the tip to reveal the USB drive.
Mr Jalava uses the drive as storage for "photos, movies and other useful files", The Telegraph said.
"When Jerry told doctors what he did for a living they joked he should have a USB 'finger drive' but that was good enough for him, and he set about making one," the paper said.
Mr Jalava said he had been flooded with questions about the finger after a friend blogged about his unique prosthetic.
He set about answering some of those questions on his own blog.
"First of all it is not attached permanently in to my body, it is [a] removable prosthetic which has [a] USB memorystick inside it," he wrote.
"Secondly when I'm using the USB, I just leave my finger inside the slot and pick it up after I'm ready."
He also described the crash, which happened last July.

"Last Wednesday while I was driving my one week old Ducati Monster 696 from work to home, I crashed into a deer," he wrote.
"I slided approximately eight metres with the deer on front and after that bounced from side to side 11 metres with the bike.
"Last slide was approximately 58 metres with my left hand under the bike.
"After the bike stopped I got up and took my helmet and gloves off ... that's when I realised that half of my finger was missing."
Mr Jalava said he had installed a number of programs on the USB finger that allowed him to do programming.
He was also working on a more advanced USB finger that would feature wireless tracking.
"I'm planning to use the other prosthetic as a shell for the next version, which will have removable fingertip and RFID [radio frequency identification] tag," he wrote.

A dispute between two teenagers in Catherine Hall, Montego Bay, St James, on Saturday night left one dead. The other has been taken into police custody.
Dead is Francis McDaniel, 17, while a 19-year-old has been arrested.
Police say about 11:50 p.m., the teens were involved in a dispute. The fracas escalated into a fight during which a knife was brought into play and both received injuries.
They were taken to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where McDaniel was pronounced dead. The other was treated and released into police custody.
A baby boy has undergone surgery after being born with two penises.
The two-week-old boy from Russia, named only as Artyom G, has had an operation to join the two penises.
Doctors say his mother had a normal pregnancy and no problems were detected.
"The surgery was complicated. We had to form one penis out of two, make the abdominal wall and create a bladder," said a doctor involved in the five hour operation.
According the The Sun, St Vladimir's Children's Clinical Hospital said that the baby is now in good health and the surgery a complete success.
"He will grow into a normal man and be able to have kids," the doctor added.
SIBBLES' SON GETS SIX YEARS - Sentenced for baby's death in Canada
Garfield Anthony Sibbles, son of popular reggae singer Leroy Sibbles, was yesterday given a six-and-a-half-year sentence for killing a child that had been left in his care.
According to a story published yesterday on the Toronto STAR's website, thestar.com, 40-year-old Sibbles will only spend six months or less in jail because of "credit earned while awaiting sentencing". Sibbles has been in custody since his arrest nearly three years ago. He pleaded guilty last November to manslaughter, after the March 22, 2006, death of a baby who was just a few days shy of his first birthday.
Sibbles denied beating the child, but admitted that on that day, he took out his frustration and anger on him. He admitted that he slapped him on the side of the head when he refused to swallow his food and later shook him when he fell and became unconscious.
Its believed the two men were passengers in a trailer cab which was travelling along the highway and crashed into a section of the overhead pass.
The incident occurred just after 5p.m.
The police believe the driver may have been speeding when he lost control of the vehicle.

Robbers robbed by other robbers while leaving robbery
Two robbers leaving a Milwaukee jewelry store with cash and gems didn't get far with the loot - because they were robbed by a different group of robbers on the way out.
According to police Lt. Thomas Welch, a fight broke out in the street before the groups got in vehicles and a chase ensued.
Welch said officers pulled over both vehicles and arrested four people, including the original two robbers, ages 40 and 31, and two robbers from the second group, of ages 22 and 27. All four are from Illinois.
But he said police didn't recover any cash or jewelry and are searching for more suspects in Wednesday's incident.

Police said that at 1:45 pm, residents found Lees body in bushes near his home and called the police. Police found the body with multiple stab wounds.

Days after the police force was rocked with the embarra**ing revelation of having a fake cop on staff, news has emerged that three of its members robbed a customer at a Western Union office in Montego Bay on Saturday afternoon.
Reports are that two men attached to the Island Special Constabulary Force (ISCF) and a district constable held up a customer at gunpoint in the money-transfer store on Market Street. They escaped with hundreds of thousands of dollars, gun-butting the customer before leaving with the loot.
The robbery has been reportedly linked to the lottery scam, which has been blamed for Montego Bay's crime surge.
Manhunt launched
Following investigations, the police reportedly set up a sting operation and the men were identified. However, only one was held. The other two escaped.
Their colleagues have since launched a manhunt for them. It is believed that they have been the masterminds behind several major robberies in the parish of St James.
Since the start of the year, five policemen in the parish have been placed behind bars for corruption-related incidents while several others are being investigated.
When The Gleaner sought to confirm the story on Sunday night, commander in charge of the ISCF in St James, Commander Leonard Mason, said he had "no knowledge of any Western Union being robbed by any of my men".
Superintendent Maurice Robinson, head of the St James Police Division, said he could comment on the matter Monday.

More organisations have come on-board to assist the children of Martha's House who lost their belongings in a fire last Monday.
Martha's House, located on North Street, Kingston, was home to 30 children until it was destroyed by the blaze.

Winsome Halliman, CEO of WYNLEE, said that, being part of the community, the members of the organisation did not hesitate to assist.

*la*hMFIELD, Ind. Three male and three female inmates at a southern Indiana jail face charges that they devised a way to sneak between cell blocks to help pass their time behind bars by having sex.
The inmates figured out how to remove metal ceiling panels in the Greene County Jail and used the passageway more than a dozen times in September and October, according to court documents.
The men ages 44, 38 and 17 and the women ages 27, 26 and 21 crawled through the ceiling after midnight, having sexual encounters and drinking homemade alcohol that was found hidden in the male cell block, a police affidavit said.
One male inmate who was not charged said the female inmates would "hang-out, play cards or have sex with some of the male inmates" in their cell block, the affidavit said.
The inmates were able to find a security camera "blind spot" where they could remove ceiling tiles and create a passage between the cell blocks, Sheriff Terry Pierce said Tuesday.
The inmates used a shower drain as a tool to loosen security screws and the ceiling tiles were carefully replaced so they did not appear to be disturbed, Pierce said.
"We could not see it," he said.
The ceiling panels have since been secured, and Pierce said he was seeking funding to improve security at the jail, which was built in 1994 in the city about 25 miles southeast of *la*hmington.
Pierce called the inmates' activities "embarra**ing" to himself and his staff.
"If your facility has a flaw, if you house prisoners in it, they will show you. They will find it," he said. "We're going to have to find a way to have a better security system."
Prosecutors have filed felony escape charges against the six inmates, who were awaiting trial on a variety of charges. Five of the inmates remain in the Greene County Jail, while one has been transferred to the Monroe County Jail in *la*hmington.

"Rihanna's priority is to rehabilitate Chris' terrible public image and she'll stop at nothing," a source says. "She's convinced that he's now learned his lesson and with her support and commitment will become a changed man."
The source then reveals, "She went with him to see a trusted pastor recommended by his mom Joyce," while adding, "At some point over the next two weeks she'll also be going with Chris to see a therapist who specializes in anger management and couples therapy." Rihanna reportedly also told Chris that she'll play the supportive girlfriend if he agrees to do a TV interview.
"Chris is surrounding himself with people who are reinforcing what a good person he is and telling him what he wants to hear," the source tells Britain's Now magazine. "There's no one in his camp telling him any home truths. Everyone in his circle knows that it's in his best interests career-wise to stay with Rihanna," the source continues. "The pastor told them about the power of forgiveness and Rihanna has really latched on to that. Monica is also God-fearing, but she just can't bring herself to forgive Chris."

The assembly at the Mile Gully High School was in awe watching the number one scout troupe in Manchester - The Mile Gully High School Scouts. The troupe was on parade at the ceremonial raising of the Jamaican flag at the Jamaica day celebration. Mile Gully High School is one of the schools selected as a centre of excellence by the Mutual Building Societies Foundation, a collaboration between Jamaica National and Victoria Mutual Building Societies.

Police said that at 12:50 pm, an occupant of the house saw smoke coming from one of the rooms and raised an alarm. The Police and the fire brigade were summoned and one unit from the Mandeville Fire Department put out the blaze.
Loss is estimated at $2.5 million. The house was uninsured.

A vehicular accident along the Ewarton main road in St Catherine yesterday has left one man dead and four others injured.
The Ewarton police identified the dead man as Patrick Clunis of Angel Estate in St Catherine. Those injured are Donald Deam of Ocho Rios, St Ann, and Clement Powell of Worchester Road, Sydenham, Spanish Town, St Catherine. The other two passengers have not yet been identified.
Reports are that about 5:30 yesterday morning, Clunis was a passenger in a Toyota Corolla motor car travelling in a northerly direction. On reaching an area known as High House, the car collided with a Toyota Hiace which was heading in the opposite direction.
The payments are owed for the 2009 to 2010 period.
Director of Public Relations at the Tax Department, Meris Haughton, said failure to meet the deadline will result in a penalty of 10 percent being added to defaulters balances.
She said the department will be extending its opening hours in anticipation of large crowds.
The tax department provides an option for quarterly payments of property taxes.

Fire Destroys Sizzla Studio
The fire which occurred about 9:45 Sunday morning destroyed the seven-apartment building on Richings Avenue in Liguanea, St. Andrew. Sizzla reportedly left home to attend a meeting when he received a call that the house was on fire. Sizzla's grandfather, who was reportedly at the premises at the time, sustained minor injuries. It is not yet clear what started the fire which caused extensive damage. |
