Singer/producer T-Pain was allegedly involved in a freak golf cart accident on Friday (March 27) that has left him with serious injuries.
According to reports, T-Pain suffered a number of cuts and abrasions on his face and he also lost four teeth in the accident.
As a result, T-Pain missed two high profile appearances this weekend with Lil Wayne and Lil Kim.
He missed his slot on the Lil Wayne I Am Music Tour stop in San Jose, California on Friday.
Dawn Valrose of Morant Bay, St Thomas, says she will never feel the same about patties after a needle pierced her tongue while she ate one recently.
The woman, who said she was still trying to find out how the object made its way into the meaty pastry item, sat down with THE MEDIA and gave her story.
"On February 5 I went to the patty place about 4:15 p.m. and I ordered a patty. I was eating it at the same place and when I reached down to a quarter of the patty I felt something pierce my tongue," Valrose said. "I stick out my tongue and it was bleeding so I rushed to the counter and asked for the person who had served me the patty."
The woman said she showed the metal-bearing patty to an on-duty security guard who came to inquire what was happening, and he removed the object. She claimed it was a needle with a piece of green thread wrapped around it.
Want answers
She said the supervisor at the shop, who later came to the floor, said that the matter would be investigated. Valrose, however, said that she was yet to get word from them, weeks after the incident.
"They need to do better. I never told them that I want money, I told them I want answers," she said. "They can't deal with people like that. I had to go to the doctor and fill a prescription for some pills and a gel for my tongue. They did not even tell me sorry."
A representative from the food outlet, however, said that there was no truth in Valrose's case to begin with, and that the outlet had already informed her accordingly.
The representative said that persons have been trying to "solicit" money from the outlet through such mischievous means. "It's a false claim from the customer," the woman said. "We sent the needle to an independent lab and investigations revealed that it was not a part of the product."
All objects emit terahertz radiation |
The ThruVision system could be deployed at airports, railway stations or other public spaces.
It is based on so-called "terahertz", or T-ray, technology, normally used by astronomers to study dying stars.
Although it is able to see through clothes it does not reveal "body detail" or subject people to "harmful radiation", according to the designers.
"It is totally and utterly passive - it receives only," said a spokesperson for Thruvision.
The portable camera, which has already been sold to the Dubai Mercantile Exchange and Canary Wharf in London, will be shown off at the Home Office scientific development branch's annual exhibition later this week.
Body glow
Unlike current security systems that use X-rays, the ThruVision system exploits terahertz rays, or T-rays.
This electromagnetic radiation is a form of low level energy emitted by all people and objects.
These are able to pass through clothing, paper, ceramics and wood but are blocked by metal and water.
The system works by collecting these waves and processing them to form an image which can reveal concealed objects.
"If I were to look at you in terahertz you would appear to glow like a light bulb and different objects glow less brightly or more brightly," said the firm's spokesperson.
"You see a silhouette of the form but you don't see surface anatomical effects."
In addition, the system does not involve any of the "harmful radiation associated with traditional X-ray security screening", according to the firm.
The company has made previous versions of the camera, but the T5000, as it is known, is the first that works both indoors and out.
The system exploits technology originally developed at the government owned Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL) in Oxfordshire.
"Astronomers use T-ray cameras that can see through dust and clouds in space, revealing what lies beyond," explained Dr Liz Towns-Andrews, of the Science and Technology Facilities Council which runs RAL.
Other terahertz systems, developed by companies such as TeraView, are used to probe the structure of pharmaceutical compounds.

The Department of Correctional Services(DCS) is moving to expand the types of services it offers, under its Inmates Work Programme, to include the skills of both men and women.
At a function held Friday recognising the inmates for giving a facelift to the National Stadium in time for this weekend's Boys' and Girls' Athletics Championships, minister of state in the Ministry of National Security, Senator Arthur Williams, explained that many inmates possess specialised skills that could be utilised by the programme.
"We want to change the thinking of this programme as being mere bushing and cleaning. In the institutions, we have every skill that you can want. We have painters, masons, plumbers, electricians, grille-work men. You name it, it's there," he told guests at the function held at the National Stadium.
Senator Williams said the Department of Correctional Services wants to use these skills to positively enhance public institutions, especially in light of the current economic downturn.
Commissioner of Corrections, June Spence-Jarrett, said the department has 10 projects planned up to July. Among the institutions to receive attention are the Trelawny Multi-purpose Stadium and the Bellevue Hospital in Kingston.
40 inmates
Spence-Jarrett also disclosed that women will be included in the programme this year.
"We are going to be taking on the infirmary, doing softer skills, c****ing (hair), bathing the inmates at the infirmary, teaching them a skill," she said. About 40 inmates are part of the programme this year.
Senator Williams explained that the work done at the National Stadium under the programme is part of the thrust, this year, to focus on important national institutions.
Wonderful opportunity
Chairman of Independence Park Limited, which manages the National Stadium, Mike Fennell thanked the department for including the stadium in its roster this year.
"We had this need of how to clean up the stadium, and we recognised that the Correctional Services also had a programme and a need for outreach services for their inmates, and we thought this was a wonderful opportunity to converge those two needs," he stated.
Although the bushing of the stadium was done in time for the Boys' and Girls' Championships, Independence Park Limited said that routine maintenance will continue after the event.
Meanwhile, the inmates also shared the positive impact participation in the programme has had on their lives. One inmate, Lukel Young, disclosed that he uses the money he earns to support his children.
"We will always be there to do the work as long as we're in the institutions, and when we leave," he added.
This year's phase of the Inmates Work Programme began last week with a two-day clean-up in Portmore Pines.
The programme began in 2007 as one of the major undertakings of the Ministry National Security since the change of administration. It engages moderate- to low-risk inmates from adult correctional institutions in the clean-up and beautification of public places.
The participants are carefully screened and selected. The programme prepares them for the world of work, once they are released from prison, and they also earn a stipend for their efforts.A man who pointed a gun at a team of policemen at Whitney Turn district, Porus, Manchester last night was fatally wounded and the firearm taken from him.
The dead man, who is unidentified, is in his late 20s. He is of slim build, about 5'11", dark complexion and of Indian descent. He was clad in a pair of blue jeans and a blue shirt.
Reports say about 8 p.m., police were on patrol in Whitney Park when the man was seen acting suspiciously.
When accosted he pulled a firearm and pointed it at the lawmen who took evasive action and fired at the man. He received gunshot injuries and was taken to the Mandeville Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators reported that a tax-payer registration identification card bearing the name Don Nicholas Devardo Thomas was taken from his pocket.
The Bureau of Special Investigation is probing the incident.Assassin took the stage at approximately 11:30 p.m. and instantly had the small crowd on hand moving - particularly the females. He deejayed about everything from societys ills to girls, but soon after he reportedly used the questionable lyrics, MC Jerry D sprang on stage, hugged him and escorted him off in a friendly manner. The crowd was none too pleased, and Jerry D later apologized to the crowd for statements made by Assassin which were reportedly inappropriate.
Organizers of the event - Red Stripe Beer - have had a rocky relationship with Jamaicas dancehall industry since last year when they withdrew all sponsorship of live music events in Jamaica. It seems now however that they are attempting to be involved with dancehall at some level - particularly where they can pull the strings completely by organizing the event(s) themselves.
Despite the confusion with Assassins performance, Red Stripe Live was an overall good experience with good performances by artistes who are seen as the present and future of Jamaicas music - Etana, Konshens, Laden, Chris Martin and Duane Stephenson all gave memorable performances. Veterans Chalice, Leroy Sibbles, Toots and Mykal Rose were all well received, particularly Mykal Rose who caused an eruption of fireworks and lighters as he sang hit after hit after hit.

Jimmy Carter came to Notre Dame in 1977. So did Ronald Reagan in 1981 and George W. Bush in 2001.
The University of Notre Dame has a tradition of inviting new presidents to speak at graduation. But this years selection of President Barack Obama has been met by a barrage of criticism that has left some students fearing their commencement ceremony will turn into a circus.
Many Catholics are angered by Obamas planned appearance at the May 17 ceremony because of his decisions to provide federal funding for embryonic stem cell research and international family planning groups that provide abortions or educate about the procedure.
The consensus Thursday on the campus of the nations largest Catholic university was that any president should be welcomed at Notre Dame.
People are definitely entitled to their outrage, but I think the main thing is to see that its an honor to have the president of the United States come to speak here whether you agree with him or not, said Katie Woodward, a political science junior from Philadelphia.
Justin Mack, a senior film major from Dallas, agreed.
I didnt vote for him and there are a lot of things I dont agree with him or support. But I feel like for this event people need to put that aside, said Mack, a senior film major from Dallas. My hope is that doesnt distract too much from what the weekend is about, which is the graduation.
But the distractions have been mounting, including sharply worded letters from two bishops. Bishop Thomas J. Olmsted of the Phoenix Diocese on Wednesday called Obamas selection a public act of disobedience and a grave mistake. On Tuesday, Bishop John DArcy of the Fort Wayne-South Bend Diocese, which includes Notre Dame, said he would not attend the ceremony because of Obamas policies.
Hundreds of people on both sides of the issue have sent letters to the student newspaper, and a coalition of conservative student groups has announced its opposition.
University spokesman Dennis Brown says Notre Dame does not plan to rescind the invitation. Anyone associated with the university can recommend a commencement speaker, he said, and the president consults with university officers to see who would be most appropriate.
Notre Dame President Rev. John Jenkins has said the university does not condone all of Obamas policies but that its important to engage in conversation.
White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said Thursday that Obama believes everyone has the right to express their opinion, saying the president met last week with Chicago Cardinal Francis George and others to discuss topics Obama and the Catholic church are interested in.
He looks forward to continuing that dialogue in the leadup to the commencement, and looks forward to delivering the address in May, Gibbs said.
Bob Reish, the student body president and a graduating senior, said there is a general excitement about Obamas visit, although he is aware there are people on both sides of the issue.
As of 2 p.m. Thursday, The Observer, the student newspaper, had received 612 letters about Obamas appearance 313 from alumni and 299 from current students.
Seventy percent of the alumni letters opposed having Obama giving the speech, while 73 percent of student letters supported his appearance. Among the 95 seniors who wrote letters, 97 percent supported the presidents invitation.
Sophomore Kelsey Fletcher, a Japanese major from nearby Elkhart, said she doesnt think the university should have invited Obama to speak.
He shouldnt be giving the commencement address because of his policies, but once you invite him you cant disinvite him, she said. That would be rude.
Others noted that Obama is only speaking at three universities this year.
We cant just forgive his viewpoints, we cant just let it go without expressing our thoughts on it, said Thomas Heitker, a freshman biology major from Columbus, Ohio. But hes only speaking at three universities this year and to be one out of so many is something we should be proud about.
Chris Carrington, a political science major from the Chicago area, said he doesnt see how Obamas appearance at Notre Dame contradicts Catholic values.
To not allow someone here because of their beliefs seems a little hypocritical and contradictory to what the mission of the university and church should be, he said.

Innocent Kru has been deeply missed since they faded from the spotlight after gaining much popularity with hits like, "Impossible Train" and "If I Could Rule The World". For 2009 however, they will be making a big comeback as the main characters in a television sitcom titled, "Me and Mi Kru".
Scheduled to premiere on February 2, 2009 on CVM TV, the show has been described by Innocent Kru member, Benzly-Hype, as a reflection of the group's experiences as they delved into the business of music. It is fictitious, but is based on their career path.
Originally a group of four, Innocent Kru lost a member to tragic circumstances just before the sitcom began shooting. Clumsy Daps, whose real name was Courtney Morris, died at his home at Seaview Gardens following a fight and stabbing. His character will be represented by actor Everaldo Creary.
It has been difficult for the group to continue without their partner, Daps, but they are still eager to see this production come to fruition. Remaining Kru members, Macka Head, Copper Kid and Benzly-Hype will forge on, despite the emotional barrier.
Benzly and Paul Beale have co-written the sitcom that was born from an inspiration gleaned while on the set of "One Love" where the Innocent Kru were working. The idea came to Benzly, he told "One Love" director, Rick Elwood about his thoughts and the rest is history.
Elwood, who also directed,"Dancehall Queen", is the director of the upcoming "Me and Mi Kru", that began filming a week ago at locations in Cherry Gardens and Rose Town.
Many stellar actors and entertainers will be featured in the sitcom, including, Leonie Forbes, Audrey Reid, Ronald Goshop, Professor Nuts, Candace Buchanan, Sly and Robbie and Spragga Benz.
Benzly has likened the sitcom to a cross between "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" and the "Beverly Hillbillies", saying the story centres around a similar rags to riches storyline.

Creative People Incorporated are the latest members of the Portmore Empire generating buzz in the Dancehall Game. The talented duo first came to attention with Gun Thing featuring the enigmatic Bushman and Ras Goudie, a real gem of a song decrying the countrys incredibly high murder rate.
But now, they have raised the stakes with their latest song, a hardcore dancehall track called Ah Your P--y, F--k Who You Waan that touts female sexual liberation to realize that these guys have a hell of a career ahead of them
The duo consists of Wayne Meanis Rose and Shawn Wanted Reynolds, who both both hail from a tough section of Seaview Gardens called Vietnam located in phase one of that community. They were both members of the Wanted Squad, which originally had seven members, but has been winnowed down to two.
Some of the man dem gone foreign, some get nine to five jobs, others get families they have to support, but we ah stick it out, Meanis explained.
The two men have known each there for several years and they both used to shoot fish in Lime Cay, Morant Cay and even Honduras before they decided to take on music full time. Its a good thing they did because this talented singer/dj c****ination are also skilled songwriters who have a bright future in dancehall and reggae music.
After the Wanted Squad disintegrated, Meanis and Wanted met Mr. Lex and changed their name to CP Inc. in 2002, and recorded their first single, Sunday to Sunday for Stone Love on the Rooster Riddim, but which never really took off. They continued to hone their songwriting abilities and train their voices and they got their first big break when they recorded Gun Thing with Bushman and Ras Goudie in 2005. The song gave them some buzz in the streets and did well overseas, hitting the #1 spot on the reggae charts in Hawaii.
That song was also very popular in Europe, Wanted said.
The duo has continued to record and began to make some noise with No Little Gal Caan Trick Me for producer Tristan Palmer on the Have Mercy Riddim on Star Creation Label.
Now, CP Inc. is under the astute management of Gary Exodus the duo is poised for greatness.
Before, we never really had the backative to get our music out and promote it the right way, we just never got the attention we needed but we never get boo on a stage show yet, we always represent, Meanis said.
They performed once in Antigua in 2004 where they wowed their audience with a high-energy performance. The duo graced the stage at Sting in 2003 working a c****ination with Lexus, and have made appearances at Spring Break in 2004 and has been a fixture at the St. Bess Festival, working there for three consecutive years since 2004.
Other standout songs of CP Inc. are Tired ah the Killing in the Ghetto for the Star Creation label, and their latest mixtape and street dance hit, Ah Your Love Gal, Give Who Yu Waan Give.
That song is in heavy rotation in the street dances, ah crazy dubplates we ah do for it. We know it is a hardcore song, but CP Inc. is many things, we are versatile but we can do the hardcore dancehall as well as the cultural, conscious songs like the latest Bigger Heads on the Magical riddim, Wanted explained.
With the buzz from their singles, the demand for CP Inc.s services has escalated and the dup is booked to appear on Teflons Yard-a-Love show on Emancipation Day, August 1; Summer Swing in Clarendon on August 2; Beenie Man Sizzle on August 6th in Clarendon; a show called Dem No Posh Like We in Rock Hall, St. Andrew on August 9 and on Champions in Action on August 16th.
Were ready fi take on the road wicked and get our career to the next level, the whole ah Seaview believe inna we, and it is going to happen, Meanis said.
Under the guidance of Gary Exodus since 2006, the duo may have to rechristen themselves with a new tagline for their names, just call them Cash Printed in Ink.
Residents of the Clark's Town community, on the outskirts of Mandeville, Manchester, have joined forces to identify, capture or kill a phantom creature which has been destroying their banana plants at nights.
The elusive creature, which began destroying the banana plants and tearing the roots to shreds about a year ago, the residents say, was absent for some time but returned on Friday night.
"About 1 o' clock Friday before day, mi hear a sound outside and di dog barking and then squeal out like someting attack it," said a neighbour of Ann-Marie Sinclair whose banana roots were destroyed. The dog was not injured in the attack.
Mark Stevens, another resident, said only one person reported seeing the primate-looking creature which appears to have four hands and a furry body like a monkey. It moves very fast, he revealed.
Following the attack on the dog, the residents are taking great care to ensure the safety of their children at nights.
The Mandeville police say they have heard of the creature and, just like residents, are anxiously awaiting an encounter.Another anti-terror lingerie product may also surface someday, based on a 2007 U.S. patent, issued to a Plainfield, Ill., company for a bra whose cups could also function as air-filtration systems in case of chemical attacks. Police in Brazil have finally caught up with a serial speeder who owed $1.9m (Ł1m) in traffic fines.
Sao Paolo police who pulled over Armando Clemente da Silva were shocked to discover he had clocked up nearly 1,000 violations, local media report.
Mr da Silva had accumulated the fines for speeding and running red lights over a seven-year period.
The driver, 36, said he had not received any penalty tickets because he had been too busy to register his car.
Mr da Silva was pulled over by traffic police on Wednesday for a routine document check, the Brazilian news website Folha OnLine reports.
The offending vehicle - which was not identified but is said to be 12 years old and worth around $6,500 - has been impounded.
It will be returned to Mr da Silva if he pays off his outstanding fines within 90 days.
Otherwise it will be auctioned off, O Globo daily newspaper reported.

The Montego Bay and the the Warsop police in Trelawny are investigating the incidents, respectively.
SAO PAULO, Brazil Soccer legend Pele was held at gunpoint by a band of youths who robbed his gold necklace, cell phone and a watch, Brazilian news media reported Sunday.
The robbery which took place on June 13 but was not made public until now occurred near the city of Santos in southern Sao Paulo state, the respected news magazine Veja reported on its Web site.
Pele was riding in the passenger seat of a car when it was stopped near a slum by at least 10 young men armed with pistols and knives, the report said. Veja said Pele did not report the crime to police. The robbery also was reported by the Estado de S. Paulo newspaper.
No one answered repeated telephone calls to Pele's office Sunday.
Pele, 67, whose real name is Edson Arantes do Nascimento, helped Brazil win three of its five World Cup titles. He was legally declared a national treasure by the Brazilian government and in 1999 was voted Athlete of the Century by the world's national Olympic committees.
Kobe Bryant and his wife Vanessa are being sued by their former housekeeper, who claims Vanessa was incredibly abusive even demanding that she put her hand in a bag of dog feces to retrieve a tag from her blouse.
Maria Jimenez claims Vanessa called her lazy, slow, dumb, a fing liar, and fing sh-t.
In the lawsuit filed in Superior Court in Orange County, Jimenez claims Vanessa accused her of stealing her (mouth) retainer.
Jimenez says it got so bad Vanessa allegedly badgered, hara**ed and humiliated Maria by yelling and screaming at Maria and criticizing her in front of Kobe, the Bryants children, employees and other people in the household she threatened to quit but Kobe talked her out of it.
The final straw: When Vanessa went nuclear because Maria put an expensive blouse in the washer. Vanessa demanded that Maria put her hand in a bag of dog feces to retrieve the price tag for the blouse.
Maria says she wanted to quit and Vanessa responded that she had to work until payday to pay for the $690 blouse, which she did.
Maria is suing for wrongful discharge, invasion of privacy and emotional distress and unpaid wages.
In a JIS release, corporate communications manager at JUTC, Reginald Allen, said passengers who pay $60, $80 or $100 to utilise the bus services will now pay an additional $20; routes that previously cost $120 will go to $150 while some routes will be increased from $170 to $250.
Operating costs
Regular JUTC bus fares will not be affected. Allen explained that the new fares reflect increased operating costs. However, other fares, such as that those charged for the regular service which are set based on other social considerations, will not be affected.
Express routes to destinations such as Half-Way Tree, Spanish Town, Greater Portmore, Papine, Cross Roads, Harbour View, Constant Spring and City and Premium routes to locations, such as Longville Park, are among those to experience the increases.
"The Express and Premium bus service is entirely operated on a market-driven basis and are not subject to the act which governs the JUTC, in its core function, to serve the general basic community needs of the Kingston Metropolitan Transport Region," Allen said."She just had an attachment to justice and doing what's right by people. She was always very serious about that," said Crawford, a teacher and community organizer in Chicago, Illinois.
But Tate, described by colleagues as a tenacious defense attorney who fought for her clients, could not save herself.
Family members and friends in Chicago; Atlanta, Georgia, and Tate's adopted home -- tiny Baker, Louisiana -- are reeling from the grisly details of Tate's slaying, and police say it was at the hands of her husband, Greg Harris. They had been married about 14˝ months.
Harris, 37, is in custody, accused of stabbing Tate to death. He is charged with second-degree murder and the illegal use of a dangerous weapon. A judge last week set his bond at $500,000.
In a phone interview with CNN, Harris' attorney, Lewis Unglesby, said police have the wrong man.
"Greg Harris by all accounts ... is innocent. I don't know anybody that thinks he did it, except the police," Uglesby said. "There's nothing in his background. He has cooperated completely with the police; he's signed everything they've asked him to sign. He's let them search his house, his car."
Tate, 34, had started her own law firm in downtown Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and was doing well, family and acquaintances said.
"She was up and coming," said Cpl. L'Jean McKneely, a police spokesman in Baton Rouge.
Tate was representing a defendant in a high-profile murder trial when, police say, she became a homicide victim herself. Her body was found inside her law office on February 20. Tate was stabbed 38 times, according to a police warrant for Harris' arrest obtained by CNN.
While questioning Harris about Tate's death, police discovered an outstanding warrant for him in connection with a battery-domestic violence case. It stemmed from a December 22, 2007, incident at the couple's home.
Harris was accused of using "force and violence" against Tate, according to Baker City Court records. The court said Harris entered a not guilty plea on March 6, 2008, but did not appear for a May 8 pretrial conference. A warrant was issued for his arrest for contempt of court.
When Tate met Harris in late 2007, she fell for him, head over heels, said East Baton Rouge Parish Juvenile Court Judge Pam Taylor Johnson, Tate's mentor and former boss.
"She came in my office one day: 'I met the most wonderful guy! I need you to perform our marriage -- tomorrow,'" Johnson recalled Tate gleefully telling her.
"I told her she had to wait three days," as required by Louisiana law, Johnson added.
Tate did wait a bit. The couple's marriage license is dated January 10, 2008, just two and a half weeks after the domestic violence report from Baker police. They married on February 8, their marriage license shows.
Only the couple's immediate family members and two friends attended the ceremony at Green Chapel in Baton Rouge, said Tate's friend Shawn Collins, who was one of those on hand for the wedding.
Lord Coe who himself set three world records in 1979, one in the 800 metres after only emerging the year before at the European championships, says Bolt is a much more talented athlete than Ben Johnson. According to him, the Jamaican was destined for greatness from his years as a junior. Bolt became a world junior record holder at the age of 15 after capturing the 200 metres in the 2002 edition in Kingston. In noting that it was only fair for persons to doubt the super fast times being set in track field because of scandals that have rocked the sport over the years, Lord Coe said Bolt's performances in summer Olympics in Beijing last year, came about after years of promise and hard work. |
It does not seem as if Beenie Man is going to get his wish to have Bounty Killer perform at Beenie Man Sizzle '08 on Independence Day.
The show that is to feature a multitude of Jamaica's top dancehall and reggae acts including Beenie Man's estranged wife D'Angel, Macka Diamond, Mr Vegas, Capleton, Voice Mail, Assassin and Queen Ifrica, among others, is to be to held at the Jamalco Sports Club in Clarendon on August 6.
Last week, 'The Doctor' had extended an invitation to Bounty Killer and Mavado to attend and perform. "Mi really want Mavado on the show and it woulda nice if Killer come too," he said then.
Yesterday, Bounty Killer's manager, Julian Jones-Griffith, shot down any chance of both invitees attending Beenie Man's Sizzle. "He's got another engagement that same night," Jones-Griffth told THE STAR. When pressed for details on where Bounty Killer would be performing on the night of August 6, Jones-Griffith would only offer that his artiste would be performing "overseas".
He also declined to comment on whether Bounty Killer would ever consider performing on a subsequent staging of the show that Beenie Man last week described as a celebration of his achievements.
Beenie Man also said last week that he had attended Bounty Killer's Saddle to the East on four occasions and it would have been nice of the Killer to reciprocate. "A four love mi gone pan him," he said.
Cabel Jeffrey Stephenson of Free People Entertainment, promoters of the show, had said last week that if Bounty or any other member of the Bounty Killer-led Alliance - which includes Mavado, Busy Signal, Wayne Marshall and other artistes - showed up, they would be well catered for.
"We are working around the clock to take this to that coveted next level," said Jones-Griffith. "Space is very limited on radio playlists and charts etc for Dancehall so to have two artistes with that crossover potential at the same time is very positive but very challenging. Because of that limited space the general feeling in the US music industry is that Serani and Mavado are somehow competing against each other. We are trying to change that conception so that in the future Dancehall has more room to breathe. Both have their own lanes and so far we've been successful in ensuring both acts continue to rise. With sales in the industry at an all-time low and with many of the top radio stations in dire financial trouble in the US its a new battle field so we have to adjust the game plan constantly. Dancehall is still not accepted by mainstream radio on the whole, by advertisers and music consumers, but we are trying to make having a Dancehall act on the radio everyday or on Billboard or on TV shows like BET's Rip the Runway or a Metro PCS Tour an automatic choice, just like it is to have a rapper or an R'n'B star. We want to spread this to endorsements, movies, the whole nine. It might sound a long way off but they said that about Hip Hop once too." Mavado and Serani are in the midst of numerous public appearances across the US, with both acts giving great performances at the "Wild Splash" show held in Tampa on Saturday. Performing alongside Yung LA, Slim Thug, Sean Kingston, Souljah Boy and Busta Rhymes, it was once again a first to have two Dancehall acts in the mix. "The crowd response was great," said Serani, who opened the show. "The audience was extremely different from the traditional Dancehall crowd so I just ensured I put out a lot of energy in my performance to inject that unique Jamaican vibe into the crowd. i came off feeling very good about my performance as the crowd response was very positive. Hearing thousands of people of different cultures sing No Games was a great and inspirational feeling." "You have to know how to work a crowd like that," added Mavado. "You have to know what songs to sing, how to get the audience involved and I think we did a very good job of that. If we don't do shows like this we are not going to break into those new markets that we need to get to the next level. I think we won some new fans at the show, not just for us, but for Dancehall on the whole." The Alliance roadshow rolls into Newark, New Jersey on Wednesday night at the Prudential Centre in Newark. The final installment of the Metro PCS 5 Boro Takeover Tour stars Mavado and Serani alongside Estelle, Busta Rhymes, Akon, with superstar rapper T.I added to the bill recently, reportedly his last public performance before he surrenders himself to the authorities to begin his one year prison sentence. "We've already confirmed Serani and Mavado for HOT 97's Summer Jam in the Summer," added Jones-Griffith. "That's June 7 at Giants Stadium in front of 50,000 fans with the biggest icons in urban music. We're also doing a similar show in Hartford on the 5th of June and in Boston at the end of that month." This is a very old pic of Shawty Lo. Clearly this is before the lure of the Trap made him a hood star. He looks more like a serial killer or a janitor that just missed the "Janitor of the Year" award. He's official and caked up now - no worries. They are saying TI released this as revenge for his lil' high school pic Shawty found.
