President Barack Obama will take his economic strategy to Jay Leno's comic couch on Thursday in the first appearance by a sitting U.S. president on a late-night TV talk show.

NBC said in a statement that Obama would sit down before a live audience on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" on March 19 to talk about his economic plan and "other topics."

Obama's visit to the Burbank studio near Los Angeles, where the top-rated late-night TV show is recorded, will come during a visit by the president to Southern California this week.

NBC said it would be Obama's first sit-down talk show appearance in studio with a live audience since his election last year, and the first ever appearance by a U.S. president while in office on a late-night chat show.

Obama appeared on the "The Tonight Show" in October 2007 during a presidential election campaign that broadened the reach of political campaigning into popular television, the Internet and text messaging.

The two-month-old Obama administration has already won passage of a $787 billion economic stimulus package aimed at lifting the U.S. economy out of a deepening recession.

But Obama's record $3.55 trillion budget plan faces opposition from Republicans, and some Democrats, over its high costs and bold moves on healthcare, education and global warming.

Leno announced last week that he would host a free benefit concert on April 7 in Detroit -- one of the cities hit hardest by the recession. A second show has since been added to meet strong demand.

The comic host is leaving the late-night slot on NBC in May after 17 years and launching a new, prime-time chat show at 10 p.m., five nights a week, in the fall of 2009 on the same network.

ROANOKE, Va. - John Markell sat in a blue minivan in the parking lot of his ramshackle gun shop yesterday, agonizing over the Glock 19 he sold to the Virginia Tech killer only a few weeks ago.

Markell, 58, was not there the day Cho Seung-hui bought the 9-mm. handgun from a clerk - but he cashed his check.

"I don't feel I'm responsible, but I just feel terrible he used one of our guns," Markell told the Daily News in a barely audible whisper.

"I was already just torn up over the tragedy," Markell said about first hearing news of the massacre.

But when the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agents showed up at the store Monday night and said a sales receipt from his shop was found on Cho's corpse, Markell said he "was pretty numb."

Markell noted the purchase was legal. The future mass murderer was carefully observed by the clerk who sold the gun and he acted normally.

He showed a Virginia driver's license, his checkbook and his immigration card and was approved by the FBI's instant check crime computer, Markell said.

The Glock came with two magazines and Cho bought one box with 50 rounds of low-velocity "plinker" ammo for shooting paper targets, Markell said.

However, if you listen closely to Rihanna and Jay-Zs words, you might notice that the lyrics do not make any sense. The vocabulary used in this song is not about a relationship between two lovers. The fact is, Umbrella is about a subject matter that is sinister, dark and disturbing: becoming possessed by evil.

Analyzing the song
The first thing that you need to know about the songs lyrics is that Rihanna sings the whole song but she actually takes on two roles. During the first half of the song, she plays the role of an evil entity that is trying to seduce and possess Rihanna. For the purpose of this analysis well call this entity the Devil. The second role she plays is herself. So the song is basically a dialog between the Devil and Rihanna. The video of the song makes this very clear and well explain how later.

We all know that, since September of this year (2008), the Dow Jones has experienced its biggest drops since the great depression. Heres a random quote from todays news (December 11th):

So now that you probably gained another perspective on the songs lyrics, we can proceed to analyze the video, which carry HEAVY symbolism and  confirms the theory of the Devil trying to possess Rihanna. The video also adds a layer of interpretation by depicting the process of possession as a rape.
Analyzing the video

At the beginning we see Jay-Z with six black-clad women. As previously stated, Jay-Z is already possessed in the song. The six women represent Jay-Zs thoughts being controlled.

The we see Rihanna dressed in black and wearing a top-hat, a visual clue to represent the evil entity, which is masculine. The long, claw-like fingernails give a sense of a demonic, ungodly creature. When Rihanna starts singing, she moves in sexually seductive way to reflect the Devils attempt to seduce Rihanna. He wants to possess her not only mentally but physically also.

The picture above is the explosion we see in the video right after the first verse. This explosion of chrome-colored liquid represents something truly disturbing: the rape of Rihanna by the Devil.

The picture above represents the rape of Rihanna. Dressed in white and thus embodying the good girl with values, Rihanna dances while performing defensive gestures. She is trying to protect herself from the chrome liquid, which represents the seminal fluid of the Devil. The liquid hits her a total of 6 times.

Popular deejay AdiDja Palmer, more popularly known as Vybz Kartel or Addi di Teacha, has been barred from performing at a show in Grenville, St Andrews, in Grenada scheduled for May 2.

The Star has learnt that the artiste was banned from the event, Rap-it-up, which was to mark the official launching of his Daggerin condoms in that island, after government officials turned down his work permit, stating that his songs were too lewd and violent.

Dexter Tillock, promoter for the event, said he got the news last Friday and is now facing losses amounting to more than US$5,000 (J$445,000). "The ministry told me that they listened to his (Vybz Kartel) lyrics and they don't want him performing in Grenada," Tillock said. "Everybody was looking forward to it because he has a good following here. The people are really not happy because they were looking forward to it, everything else was in place for the show. "

The promoter said he would be seeking an audience with Grenada's Ministry of Labour on Tuesday to see if they could exercise some leniency. He said should this fall through, he will be seeking legal advice as it relates to claiming for losses as neither himself nor the artiste were aware of the government's blacklisting.

Attempts to get in contact with Palmer were unsuccessful as calls to his cellphone went unanswered. Messages were left on his voicemail, however, the calls were not returned. His publicist also could not be reached.

The recent ban brings to three the number of local deejays who have been banned from performing in neighbouring islands.

 Teenager Federico Macheda declared Sunday the "best day of his life'' after scoring a dramatic late goal on his debut to seal a vital 3-2 win over Aston Villa and fire Manchester United back to the top of the Premier League table.

Barcelona midfielder Xavi says the Primera Liga is better than England's Premier League and hopes his side can show it by going all the way in this season's Champions League.

Barca were joined in the semi-finals by three English sides last season, only to be knocked out by eventual champions Manchester United over two legs and this time, three of the last four teams are the same. Like United and Chelsea, Barca have progressed to the semi-final stage once again, while Arsenal are the other side still left in the competition.

The Catalans beat Arsene Wenger's side in the final in 2006 to claim their last major trophy and could set up a repeat performance this time around. Indeed, to win the Champions league for only the third time in their history, Barcelona must overcome two English sides, starting with Chelsea.

Pep Guardiola's side meet the Londoners in the first leg on Tuesday and Xavi hopes his side can show that Spain's top flight is stronger than England's.

''There's not much between the two leagues but I think our league is stronger - it is better technically and there is more tactical order,'' he said on Monday. ''Maybe the Premier League wins in terms of intensity and rhythm.''

''And it's true that there are three English teams in the semi-finals, but we are not here by coincidence.''

After the big marital spat last week where Beenie packed his stuff and moved back into his Wellington Road apartment, it appears that all is well in dancehalls royal family. However, it has been rumoured that Beenie has been relying on marriage counseling advice from his former beau and close friend Carlene, host of the TV programme, Our Voices. He has also been heard badmouthing his wife at other places. Every marriage has problems but it does not benefit you to air your concerns with outsiders who have no vested interest in seeing your marriage work. Will Beenies boyish ways cause the break-up of his marriage to DAngel? Only time will tell.

I read THE STAR today and I found the lead story to be a distasteful bit of. Why should we believe this guy Maury (not his real name) that he was drugged when he committed those lewd, homosexual acts? According to my cousin from Junction who saw the tape, the man who committed those acts seemed to be a pro at what he was doing and jumped into it without any compulsions or coercion. This guy is a bleached-out face, tight pants wearing freaking who was living on the down low with his babymother. It is now clear who he is, everybody can see the freak flag waving now, so he should just shut up, 'tek weh' himself from Jamaica and get on with his life. How can a man allow himself to even get caught up in these sort of situations? Only if he is licky licky', hungry for money and probably because him de pon the borderline in terms of his sexuality. That is the only way, so we cannot give him any pity. We nah go stop bun dem out and dem freaky life. LAVA!

The recently established Adidja Palmer Education Foundation Ltd. donated $30,000 to the effort to construct the Leonard Howell Guidance Counselling room at a location in Chedwin Park, St. Catherine.

The drive was spearheaded by IRIE FM and will see the construction of the room in memory of the Rastafarian prophet's life. DJ Vybz Kartel --an avid reader who knew about Howell's life as the founder of the rastafarian movement and his struggle for self-empowerment of the black race under colonial Britain --opened his pocketbook to assist the worthy cause.

"The philosophies that encourage self-empowerment and self-reliance must be encouraged and Howell who was the father of the Rasta movement, and I wholly support any cause that can enlighten or assist our youths in any way," he said in a release.

Mischief Entertainment in association with Wickerman Promotions, held Mischief 2007 on April 29th in Clarendon at the Jamalco Sports Club. It was a night full of excitement, excitement , and fun mischief. The decor and ambiance was incredible as gold and black beautified the artist and V.I.P. area creating a buzz backstage.

Many Reggae favourites graced the stage giving the audience lots of enjoyable moments. Freddy McGregor wooed the audience with many classic and current tunes. He then introduced some of the talent coming out of the Big Ship Camp he is working with like Delly Ranks, producer and artist extraordinaire.

New Artist, Teflon made an impression on the audience as he proved to be the next upcoming artist to look out for. He called up Lutan Fyah, who excited the crowd into a pure musical bliss. Even through his recent controversy in the press, he prevails.

Munga Honorable was in high demand as ladies screamed and fire torches blazed the night as he performed hit after hit. L.U.S.T. comprised of Lukie D, Thriller U, Singing Melody, and Tony Curtis, serenaded the ladies with harmonious melodies. Each artist displayed their solo abilities as well.

Turbulence gave the fans a quick fix as he came on stage with something more of a barrage instead of an entourage. Fresh from his European tour, he barely did two songs and rushed off the stage, leaving everyone hungry for more.

The women went absolutely crazy when Monster Shack Crew delivered an energetic yet romantic set. Ghost, Roundhead, and General B brought some of their tunes from the past back and couldn't give the ladies enough. As Ghost sang his last love song, the night took a turn towards mischief when Ninja Man walked on stage. The audience went into an immediate frenzy as he showed them why he is the original Gorgon. He then called up 'his daughter' Spice, who appeared to be a couple months pregnant. That's when the real mischief began; Spice addressed the controversy over the questions surrounding the potential father of her child.

She made it absolutely clear that none of the entertainers that people had speculated could hold that position. She never revealed who the father was and bounced along the stage performing. Things went up another notch as Cobra appeared, wearing a complete Spider Man suit from head to toe. He performed a number of tunes.

Macka Diamond heated things up with her new song celebrating the union of Beenie Man and Angel. She congratulated Angel from leaving one 'money man' and going to the 'next money man'. She concluded asking Bounty Killa to marry her so they could be a 'money couple' in satire of course.

The night reached a climax with the Alliance, which included performance from Bounty Killa, Wayne Wonder, and K-Queens. Bounty Killa was in a very jovial, pleasant, yet commanding mood. He delivered a great set. It was evident that Wayne Marshall had made tremendous strides over the years, as his delivery and charm with the audience was impeccable. The K-Queens gave us double trouble, as this set of twins showed us why Killa is bussing them in the reggae fraternity.

The finale came with Vybz Kartel and Aidonia mashing up the place. It was obvious that regardless of the passa between many camps, the audience enjoyed them all. As Kartel and Aidonia released song after song, the show closed with a bang. Get set for Mischief 2008 from now.

Hundreds of students in NY fell sick to SWINE FLU as they came back from a trip to Cancun Mexico.  It's the largest Roman Catholic School in the US, with 2,700 students.

"Swine flu is believed to have killed more than 150 people in Mexico, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said the U.S. has 68 confirmed cases in five states, with 45 in New York, one in Ohio, one in Indiana, two in Kansas, six in Texas and 13 in California.

"I fully expect we will see deaths from this infection," said Richard Besser, acting director of the CDC.

That was echoed by Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano.

"It is very likely that we will see more serious presentations of illness and some deaths as we go through this flu cycle," she said."

KINGSTON, Jamaica - Olympic champion sprinter Usain Bolt was in a car crash Wednesday in Jamaica, but police and his manager said he was not seriously injured.

Bolt and an unidentified female passenger were taken to a hospital in Spanish Town. Neither was seriously hurt, police Sgt. David Sheriff said.

Bolt was apparently speeding on a rain-slicked highway when he lost control of the BMW M3 and it went off the road, Sheriff told The Associated Press. Sheriff was the first officer to arrive at the scene in St. Catherine parish, and found the car heavily damaged.

The track star's manager, Norman Peart, said Bolt sustained nothing more than scratches from thorn bushes when he stepped out of the car on the side of the road.

"We are very relieved he's OK," Peart told the AP. "Everybody is fine."

The 22-year-old sprinter won the 100 and 200 meters at the Beijing Olympics and was part of the Jamaica team which won the 4x100 relay. All three gold medals were earned in world record times.

Bolt was given the BMW by his sponsor Puma as a reward for his outstanding performance in the Olympics.

Popular selector turn artiste Charly Blacks from Bass Odyssey Sound System (original) unveiled a surprise that caught a lot of patrons off guard at the recent staging of 100 Degreez - Temperature Rising held at Reggae Beach Ocho Rios over the Easter weekend and 876radio.com was in the house to witness it all.

The selector/artiste who was responsible for musical duties for Bass Odyssey on the night was playing Stephen 'Di Genius' McGregor's 'Chiney K Riddim. First he played the Mavado and Aidonia much to the delights of the fans, at this point the very charged crowd started shouting "Kartel , play di Kartel", what happened next had everyone in awe, he stopped the music took the microphone and gave the patrons a piece of his mind, he said.

"Kartel diss, him arite, mi nuh play Kartel, Alliance mi ting deh", this comment was greeting by a series of boos from the crowd showing their disapproval for his utterances, un-phased by their reaction he quickly continued his set turning up the music in an effort to drown out the boos coming mainly from the front of the stage.

The night's proceedings continued and no songs from Vybz Kartel was played during his set, which shows that their is some underlying feud happen between the two.

Black who is no stranger to the entertainment fraternity is also an artiste on the rise, with his last summer girls anthem "Nuff Nuff Love" and "Wining Time", both of which have gotten a lot of love on the local airwaves.

Vela, 20, was told to stay away from the Gunners' training session following a visit by some friends from Mexico, where more than 150 deaths have been blamed on the virus.

Mexico is the centre of the outbreak of the disease and Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said: "It looked to be a massive problem because we were asked yesterday to keep him at home and not get him to the training ground."

"Now he has the all-clear and today he was free again to attend training."

Wenger added: "It was basically down to the fact he had visitors from Mexico, friends who came to visit him last week."

With strikers Robin Van Persie and Eduardo both injured Vela could well find himself on the bench for the European clash.

However, the global recession's bite into other British millionaires and billionaires' wealth has caused Blackwell to rise almost 100 places up the Rich List ladder, from 784th last year.

Blackwell has a wide spread of investments, which include Strawberry Hill, Goldeneye and The Caves hotel in Jamaica.

Ex-boxer Lewis is richer than Blackwell, according to The Sunday Times list, ranking 600th with a net worth of £90 million. He has, however, lost £10 million.

Steel tycoon tops list

Indian steel tycoon Lakshmi Mittal is still top of the pile with £10.8 billion, but he has lost more than half his wealth - £16.9 billion - largely because of the manufacturing slump across the world. Russian oil magnate and Chelsea Football Club boss Roman Abramovich is still No. 2, but he is down to his last £7 billion, bleeding £4.7 billion.

Not all has been doom and gloom. While Virgin Atlantic boss Sir Richard Branson has lost half his wealth, other entrepreneurs such as Simon Cowell of American Idol fame have got richer.

Aww when friendships go bad.  Max B and Jim Jones used to be tighter than super glue however that was a long time ago. The two have been warring over the internet through Youtube style video clips for the past year or so. They accuse each other of everything from swagger jacking to industry blackballing to just plain out being drunk and calling each other faggots. Now though it looks like Max B is trying to pull out his ace card on Jimmy.

Max just released a video with him announcing that soon we will be seeing a sex tape of him and Jim Jones fiancé together. Max says the video was recorded while the unknown woman and Jones were together and that he has it on his camera phone. In the video Max appears to be highly intoxicated and is surrounded by goonies such as French Montana and Philly repper Young Chris.

I dont know about this one. Could Max just have been inspired by the recent 50 Cent chess move of the Brooke tape and wants a little shine or do you think this supposed tape is legit? Check out the vid below and decide for yourself.

CAIRO An 8-year-old Saudi girl has divorced her middle-aged husband after her father forced her to marry him last year in exchange for about $13,000, her lawyer said Thursday.

Saudi Arabia has come under increasing criticism at home and abroad for permitting child marriages. The United States, a close ally of the conservative Muslim kingdom, has called child marriage a "clear and unacceptable" violation of human rights.

The girl was allowed to divorce the 50-year-old man who she married in August after an out-of-court settlement had been reached in the case, said her lawyer, Abdulla al-Jeteli. The exact date of the divorce was not immediately known.

A court in the central Oneiza region previously rejected a request by the girl's mother for a divorce and ruled that the girl would have to wait until she reached puberty to file a petition then.

Barcode promoter Ibrahim 'IB' Konteh


Promoter of the party Barcode, Ibrahim 'IB' Konteh, was shot and injured on Tuesday night along Windward Road, Kingston.

Konteh said he was on his way from Harbour View, on business, when his car dropped into a pothole about 10 p.m. Upon noticing a problem with the vehicle, he decided to stop at a Shell gas station on Windward Road.

"I pulled over at the gas station and somebody ask me if everything all right and then seh him want everything," said Konteh, who is also

the new CEAC (Cultural and Entertainment Affairs Chairperson) on the University of the West Indies (Mona) Guild executive body.

Will Recover

He did not have any money on him but the robber took $15,000 from one of his friends and a 'cheap' Nokia phone from the other.

Afterwards, they began to pull Konteh but he resisted and was shot in his leg below the knee. His friends took him to the University Hospital of the West Indies where he was treated and released.

"I can't walk on it (the leg), I am bedridden but the doctor said I will recover in probably a week or two. I missed my exam (yesterday) and I will miss the one tomorrow (Thursday) and some Barcode promotions - but mi give thanks fi life," Konteh said.

In addition to Barcode, Konteh promotes the New Year's Eve party 11:59. He also helps in the managing and coordinating of other parties like French Kiss, Drinkers' Paradise, May Daze, Rum Mania and Russian Roulette.

The next staging of Barcode is on June 27 at The Rum Capitol, St Andrew.

Singer is seven months' pregnant with couple's first child.

One of hip-hop's premiere couples is reportedly splitting: Kelis has filed for divorce from Nas, according to Vibe.com. She is seven months' pregnant with the couple's first child.

"I can confirm that she has filed for divorce," a spokesperson for Kelis reportedly told the site on Thursday (April 30). "We request the media to respect her privacy during this very difficult time."


On Thursday afternoon, attorney Laura Wasser (who has also represented Britney Spears) filed a divorce petition on behalf of Kelis, citing irreconciable differences.

The news comes mere weeks after Nas spoke excitedly with MTV News about the baby. When asked earlier this month how Kelis was doing, he said, "She's great, man. She's doing good. [We are deciding between] a few baby names. It's kinda hard. I've been thinking about kinda putting something online: 'Choose his name.' You get a couple stacks for that. We take care of you for that. You win something real. But we're thinking now."

The couple dated for two years and were married in Atlanta in January 2005.
