United States-based artiste Flippa Mafia yesterday put to rest rumours that he was referring to Bounty Killer in his single, Unfinished House.

After four jam-packed shows in the UK, that also featured Serani, Bugle, Chase Cross and Alliance selector Boom Boom, Mavado moved on to his first-ever European tour last week.

Visiting six countries for nine shows in 10 days across the continent, Mavado has been met with nothing but love, underlining the international appeal of his music and message.

"The response everywhere we've been has been mad," said Mavado. "Paris was the first show and it was crazy. The venue was packed and the crowd sang every word. It set the tone for the rest of the tour which has just been more of the same."

Travelling by day and performing night after night, Mavado has so far blazed through France, Belgium, North and South Italy and across Switzerland. He will finish up with shows in Germany and Holland.

 Manchester City have denied making an audacious 150m bid to sign 21-year-old Barcelona and Argentina playmaker Lionel Messi.

 

 

Reports in Spain on Wednesday claimed that the Premier League club's bid, which would smash the current world transfer record of 66m set in 2001 when Real Madrid signed Zinedine Zidane from Juventus, included personal terms that would see Messi paid 10m a year.

However, in line with comments from Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak who on Tuesday insisted the club would not overreach in the transfer market this summer, City issued a statement denying that an approach for Messi had been made.

''Manchester City Football Club note with interest the reports circulating in the Spanish media that the club has made an offer to the Barcelona player Lionel Messi and that he has turned down the chance to join the club,'' the statement said.

''While acknowledging that Lionel Messi is a world-class player of the highest calibre, Manchester City would like to make it clear that the club has at no time made an approach to Mr Messi or his representatives.''

Earlier this month, City manager Mark Hughes hit out at the number of reports linking the club with players around the world - a consequence of the Abu Dhabi United Group's takeover last summer which installed City as the richest club in the world.

Iran appears to have successfully test-fired a missile that military experts say is capable of hitting Israel, dramatically raising tensions in the Middle East over the country's nuclear ambitions.

The launch has also raised renewed questions about US President Barack Obama's strategy of using diplomacy to wring concessions out of Iran.

After the medium-range missile was launched from Semnan province in northern Iran, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad told a cheering crowd the launch was a resounding success.

"With the help of God the Sajjil-2 missile, which has very advanced technology, was launched in Semnan and it landed precisely on target," he said.

"The missile will have a range of approximately 2,000 to 2,500 kilometres.

"Because of some of the problems they've had with their engines, we think at least at this stage of the testing it's probably closer to the lower end of that range."

Still, a lower range of 2,000 kilometres takes in Israel and a number of US military bases in the Gulf.

The launch probably was not a coincidence. It came on the first day of Iran's presidential election campaign.

This show of strength will not hurt Mr Ahmadinejad's electoral chances.

The test-firing also came just two days after the meeting at the White House between US President Barack Obama and Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Iran's nuclear ambitions were the subject of intense discussion.

The Israeli leader says he will take military action against Iran if he feels his country is under threat of an Iranian missile strike.

But Mr Obama favours the use of diplomacy to bring an end to Iran's nuclear program.

In the light of the overnight launch, critics like former Bush administration official John Hannah are urging Mr Obama to re-think this approach.

"I just think there's very little evidence historically that simply through negotiations, through offering positive diplomatic incentives and through essentially taking a military threat off the table, that you can convince hostile anti-American states to give up their nuclear weapons program," he said.

"So I'm very sceptical."

The Obama Administration is deeply concerned about developments in Iran.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is worried about the consequences of Iran obtaining a nuclear weapon.

"A nuclear-armed Iran with a deliverable weapons system is going to spark an arms race in the Middle East and the greater region," she said.

Earlier this week Mr Obama said he was not willing to talk forever to Iran. This missile launch has probably reduced his timeframe even further.

An official, speaking on condition of anonymity because the person was not authorized to disclose the decision, told The Associated Press the administration has decided to bring Ghailani to trial in New York. He was indicted there for the 1998 b****ings of U.S. embassies in Africa -- attacks that killed 224 people, including 12 Americans.

Ghailani, a Tanzanian, is a high-value detainee captured in Pakistan in 2004 and transferred to the U.S. detention at the U.S. naval base in Cuba two years later.

The official said the administration plans to announce Thursday morning that Ghailani will be brought to trial for the embassy attacks.

The decision on the first U.S. trial of a Guantanamo detainee comes as President Obama faces pressure from across the political spectrum on his plan to close the detention center by January 2010. Democrats have said they want to see the president's plan for closing the base before it funds the effort, and Republicans are fighting to keep Guantanamo open.

Some lawmakers have already voice opposition to bringing Guantanamo detainees to the U.S. for trial, even in heavily guarded settings.

Obama is scheduled to give a major speech addressing Guantanamo and national security Thursday morning.

The AP reported in March that Ghailani was among a handful of high-value suspects prosecutors were considering bringing to trial on charges that predate the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks.

Trying Ghailani for the embassy attacks may help prosecutors avoid legal challenges surrounding Ghailani's detention and treatment.

U.S. authorities say he helped plan and deliver the explosives in the embassy attack, and after that rose up through the Al Qaeda ranks.

Last year, military prosecutors charged that after the 1998 b****ings, Ghailani worked for Al Qaeda as a document forger, trainer at a terror camp and bodyguard to Usama bin Laden.

Rapper T.I. will be coming to Arkansas to serve a federal prison sentence.

T.I., whose real name is Clifford J. Harris Jr., must report to Forrest City's low-security federal prison by noon on May 26, according to court filings. There, Harris will join 1,500 other inmates as he serves a year-and-one-day prison sentence after pleading guilty in March to federal weapons charges in Atlanta.

The rapper, the self-proclaimed "King of the South," had faced a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine for each charge in his three-count indictment.

Harris will be credited for 305 days of home detention he already has served after being charged, so his stay at the Forrest City prison likely will be only two months.

R.D. Weeks, a spokesman for the prison, said Harris likely would be treated like any other prisoner coming into the facility.

"Unless there are custody or security concerns, all incoming inmates are placed in general population," Weeks told The Associated Press.

Weeks said each cell at the prison is double-bunked. Harris also will have the opportunity to use the recreation yard, as well as take part in counseling or participate in the one of the facility's 14 religious groups, Week said.

Harris, 28, was arrested after trying to buy unregistered machine guns and silencers from undercover federal agents in 2007. That came after Harris' best friend was killed following a post-performance party in Cincinnati in 2006. The rapper has said the bullets that killed his friend were meant for him.

Upon his release, Harris will be on probation for three years. He also must pay a $100,000 fine as part of his sentence.

Harris' sixth album, "Paper Trail," has sold about 2 million copies and the rapper earned a Grammy for the song "Swagga Like Us" that he performed with Jay-Z. Harris wrote the lyrics for the album while awaiting trial.

RICHMOND, Va. An attorney for Michael Vick says the suspended NFL star has left a Kansas prison and is on his way back to Virginia to meet the next challenges he'll face.

Larry Woodward, a member of Vick's legal team, says Vick left the federal penitentiary at Leavenworth overnight. Woodward says Vick is happy to be starting this part of the process. He's due to return to Virginia later this week to begin serving the final two months of his sentence under home confinement at a home he owns in Hampton.

Vick had been serving a 23-month sentence for financing a dogfighting ring.

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) _ A person familiar with the release details said suspended NFL star Michael Vick left a Kansas prison Wednesday for home confinement in Virginia, the latest step on a journey that he hopes will lead to his return to the NFL.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity because no public announcement has been made. The person said Vick left the federal penitentiary at Leavenworth before dawn, evading cameras and reporters who had staked out the building ahead of his expected released this week.

Vick had been serving a 23-month sentence for financing a dogfighting ring. He will spend the last two months of the term on electronic monitoring at his five-bedroom home in Hampton, Va.

The former Atlanta Falcons quarterback is expected to be released from federal custody July 20, but he will be on probation for three years. He hopes to persuade NFL commissioner Roger Goodell to reinstate him.

Vick, once the NFL's highest-paid player, will be allowed to leave his house to work a $10-an-hour job as a laborer for a construction company and for other limited purposes approved by his probation officer. He will be handed a new set of rules when he begins serving three years of probation after his expected July 20 release from federal custody.

The transfer from the federal penitentiary in Leavenworth, Kan., will allow Vick to begin rebuilding his life, repairing his image and working toward his goal of reinstatement to the NFL.

Vick wants to work with the Humane Society of the United States on a program aimed at eradicating dogfighting among urban teens, society president Wayne Pacelle said Tuesday. Pacelle said he recently met with Vick at the federal prison in Leavenworth.

Goodell has said he will review Vick's status after his criminal case is concluded. He has said Vick will have to persuade him and the public that he is genuinely sorry for his crime, that he has been changed by his experience and that he is committed to leading a different life.

Even if he is reinstated, Vick's future in the league is uncertain. He and the Falcons have parted ways, agreeing to a contract settlement that will allow Vick to sign with another team _ if there is one willing to endure the wrath of some fans in exchange for the services of a player who was perhaps the NFL's most electrifying performer.

A public backlash isn't the only risk. By all accounts, Vick has tried to stay in good physical shape, but there's no telling how much his skills have eroded after two missed seasons.

Vick, who turns 29 in June, said in bankruptcy court last month that he believes he can play another 10-12 years. The NFL career average is only 3.2 years and Vick already has played seven.

LONDON (Reuters) A man who tried to hire a prostitute to take his 14-year-old son's virginity as a present was spared jail by a court on Friday.

The Polish national took the boy out in his car and allowed him to pick out the prostitute, who was standing at the side of the road in the red-light district of Nottingham.

But the 42-year-old father was arrested because the teenager had chosen an undercover police officer, Nottingham Crown Court heard.

The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was handed a 10-month prison sentence, suspended for a year, after he admitted a charge of trying to solicit a woman to have sex with a child, the Press Association reported.

The court heard that the father, who came to Britain eight years ago, was arrested last July during an undercover operation by the city's vice squad.

Prosecutor Adrian Harris said the man and his son had approached the undercover officer whose code name was Sarah and beckoned her over .

He asked "Sarah" how much it would cost for her to have sex with his son and they agreed on a 20 pound fee. However, when the car pulled over, the man was arrested by plainclothes police officers.

"The boy said that they had driven past the girl and his dad pointed to her and said 'will she do?'" Harris said.

"He said 'yes' and they had turned round. He said his dad did this because he was still a virgin and he was taking care of that for him."

Judge Jonathan Teare said he would spare the father jail because of his excellent character and that he believed he did not mean any harm to his son.

"You have a duty of care to your son and that is to look after his moral welfare, not as you might think to break him in to the ways of sex through a prostitute," he said.

The court was told the boy would continue to live with his father.

After being accused of beating a 14-year-old, Toledo police say they are reviewing a video taken of the incident. Video posted on YouTube shows part of what happened next.

The video was recorded by Shari Weems, who lives in the Brand Whitlock Homes in Central Toledo.

Shari runs up to the scene in front of one of the homes, where Toledo Police Department Patrolmen Byron Daniels and Andre Bills are trying to subdue 14-year-old Trevor Casey.

The police report states the officers asked Casey to stop loitering and leave, but they say he refused and it then turned into a full fight.

The report says the 14-year-old struck officer Daniels in the chest and was kicking and trying to break free.

The video shows a *lo**y Trevor Casey, after being struck by police in the head while trying to subdue him.

The man killed during a high-profile shooting at the Beverley Center in Beverley Hills, California today was Atlanta rapper Dolla, sources have confirmed with AllHipHop.com.

Dolla, born Roderick Anthony Burton II, hailed from East Atlanta and Los Angeles. He was signed to Akons Konvict Muzik imprint.

Los Angeles police have charged 23-year-old Aubrey Berry with the murder of 21-year-old Atlanta rap artist Dolla (real name Roderick Anthony Burton II. The promising young rapper was shot was shot in the head Monday afternoon in the parking garage of the popular Beverly Center while dozens of shoppers ran for cover, according to a report in the Los Angeles Times. He died at nearby Cedars Sinai hospital.

Police arrested Berry at Los Angeles International Airport, where he was trying to board a flight out of town, authorities said. He was one of two suspects who allegedly fled from the shopping mall in a silver Mercedes-Benz SUV after the shooting. TMZ reported that Berry told police he knew why they were there at LAX, "and then raised his hands and told them he had a 9 millimeter handgun in his waistband."

He was charged with murder and bail was set at $1 million. Police have another "person of interest" in custody, according to a report in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Dolla's rep said a man and woman had been trailing the rapper before the shooting. It is also alleged that Dolla had gotten into an altercation with other passengers on a flight from Atlanta to Los Angeles, but its unclear if that was related to the violence.

He was in LA to work on his new album, "A Dolla & A Dream," according to Rolling Stone. He was in the mall with rappers DJ Shabbazz and Scrapp DeLeon.

It's unspeakably sad that so many young men are gunned down this way. Our hearts and prayers are with the families and friends of all who have lost their young this way.

Columbia (WLTX) -- Richland County deputies seized two guns and over $21,000 in drugs on Saturday in Northeast Columbia.

Deputies say a Crimstoppers tip led Narcotic Agents to 540 Halleck Lane in the Brookehaven Subdivision where the seized the weapons and illegal drugs.

Around 7:00 a.m. Saturday morning, agents conducted a search warrant of the home and discovered a plastic bag of marijuana, a bag of crack cocaine, powder cocaine and cigars filled with marijuana sitting in an ashtray.

Sheriff Leon Lott says a .357 revolver and a .38 caliber pistol were also found in the home.

Deputies arrested 35-year-old James Fulks and 23-year-old Vanichia Cox. Both have been charged with trafficking cocaine over 200 grams, possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, simple possession of marijuana, and possession of a pistol during a violent crime.

Both were transported to the Richland County Jail and have since been released.

Lott encourages citizens to continue to utilize Crimestoppers by texting, calling or Emailing even with the smallest tip.

Bahamian immigration officers received a tongue-lashing from the country's prime minister on Monday for what he described as their often "offensive behaviour" towards Jamaicans entering the country through its various ports of entry. 

The officers, gathered for the opening ceremony of the Immigration Department's 'First Annual Public Service Conference', were admonished by Prime Minister Hubert Ingraham to put an end to their 'unacceptable' behaviour.

Running through a veritable laundry list of complaints about the department, including the development of an informal 'pay-to-play' culture of corruption, where officers "look the other way for a price", Ingraham went on to express his grievances about the treatment of many Jamaicans coming to The Bahamas.

The prime minister acknowledged that Jamaicans were "frequently exposed" to "insolent and rude" behaviour by immigration staff in The Bahamas upon arrival at ports of entry and "very particularly" at Nassau's Lynden Pindling International Airport.

"Not all Jamaican nationals arriving in The Bahamas intend to overstay their allotted time. Not all Jamaican nationals arriving in The Bahamas have police records, nor are they engaged in illegal activity," he said.

"Yet, far too many Bahamian immigration officers greet Jamaican nationals arriving in The Bahamas as if they were known criminals. This is not acceptable; it must stop, regardless of the nationality of the arriving passenger," said Ingraham.

He urged officers to treat even those who "do not appear tosatisfy entry requirements for The Bahamas in a courteous and respectful manner."

Meanwhile, the prime minister suggested that people who sponsor visits by Jamaicans for "other than bona fide purposes" must be similarly warned.

"You must know that all immigration officers operate from the same remit - no facilitation, no accommodation, no tip, no bribe to permit persons to enter The Bahamas who are reasonably suspected of coming here to work legitimately or illegitimately! Understood!" declared the prime minister.

A Clarendon County waitress is accused of shooting a customer at the restaurant after the two had a dispute.

Yakeisha Ward, 29, is charged with assault and battery with intent to kill.

An early morning run for breakfast at the Waffle House on Paxville Highway in Manning turned terribly wrong for Crystal Samuel.

I thought I was gonna get me an All-Star, says Samuel. A popular meal on the menu. Grits, sausage, toast, eggs and a waffle, says Samuel.

She didnt get what she came for. Instead, she says while she waited for her order, her friends started eating. Thats when Samuel says she was told they couldnt eat from carryout trays inside the restaurant.

I said what is your fuss about. I said we havent paid for our food. She (Ward) said well you all got to leave. How you want us to leave and we aint paid for the food yet, says Samuel.

Thats when it got ugly. Samuel says she threw a waffle at the waitress. I did actually throw some food but it didnt hit her, says Samuel. Thats when she (Ward) jumped across the counter and we got into it, says Samuel.

Clarendon County Sheriff Randy Garrett says the altercation continued outside where he says Ward got a gun from her car and a gun magazine from her trunk.

Its poor judgment on her part trying to settle this matter with a weapon. either way she had time to think about what she was doing when she was walking to her car, says Garrett.

Investigators say Wards gun discharged during the altercation. They say a bullet fragment struck Samuel in the arm.

According to Fox News a Georgia man by the name of Aubrey Lois Berry was arrested in the shooting and is currently being held on $1 million bail. He was obtained at the Los Angeles International Airport last night after the incident with a gun in his possession.

Dolla, 21, was shot dead yesterday afternoon outside the Beverly Center. He was in L.A. recording his debut, Another Day, Another Dolla. As of press time a possible motivation for the murder is not clear.

The Navy will christen the newest Arleigh Burke class guided-missile destroyer, Gravely, May 16 during a ceremony at Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding, Pascagoula, Miss.

The new destroyer honors the late Vice Adm. Samuel L. Gravely Jr. He was born in Richmond, Va., June 4, 1922. After attending Virginia Union University, he enlisted in the Naval Reserve in September 1942.

In 1943 he participated in a Navy program (V-12) designed to select and train highly qualified men for commissioning as officers in the Navy. On Dec. 14, 1944, Gravely successfully completed midshipman training, becoming the first African American commissioned as an officer from the Navy Reserve Officer Training Course. He was released from active duty in April 1946 but remained in the Naval Reserve.

Dollas rep, Sue Vannasing, said Dolla (Roderick Anthony Burton II) was involved in an altercation with other passengers on a flight from Atlanta to Los Angeles.

Burton, 21, had arrived at LAX from his home in Atlanta earlier in the day and went to the Beverly Center to shop, Vannasing said.

LAPD officers were called to the mall on a report of a group fight, possibly involving a knife. Authorities said two suspects - one believed to be Aubrey Berry - were seen fleeing in a silver Mercedes SUV before officers arrived.

After the shooting, Burton was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center a few blocks from the mall, where he died, police said.

A high-speed police chase through suburban Los Angeles County on Wednesday ended with a police officer kicking a suspect in the head or neck after the man gave up and laid down.

Video from TV news helicopters showed the driver speed the wrong way down a street in an eastern area of the county. He then crashed into an oncoming vehicle, got out of the car and ran into a residential back yard. Surrounded by high garden walls and apparently realizing he had nowhere to go, the suspect got face down on the gra** with his arms outstretched.

Moments later, an El Monte Police Department officer ran up to the suspect and gave him one sharp kick to the head or neck. The scene was broadcast by KNBC-TV and KTTV. A second officer arrived soon after and used what appeared to be his baton or a flashlight to deliver several blows to the suspects side.

After the suspect was handcuffed, the officer who kicked him high-fived a colleague who was tending to a police dog.

El Monte police Chief Tom Armstrong said he had not yet seen the video and could not comment.

Before coming to any conclusion, I want to look at all the facts, Armstrong said. I dont know what was in the mind of the officer.

Police identified the driver as Richard Rodriguez, 23, of El Monte. He was on parole and is a member of an El Monte street gang, Lt. Chuck Carlson said. He was booked for parole violation and for investigation of felony evading and obstructing a police officer in the performance of his duties. He was being held in the El Monte jail before being transferred to a county jail.

The foot pursuit came at the culmination of a high-speed car chase that lasted more than 30 minutes and saw the suspect lead a chaotic drive through El Monte, Whittier and other parts of eastern Los Angeles County.

On several occasions, the car sped through intersections without stopping and at one point drove along a short stretch of sidewalk when it was hemmed in at a junction.

Carlson said the occupants of the car flashed gang signs at pursuing officers.

The chase started in El Monte around 1:30 p.m. after the driver failed to stop for an officer, Carlson said.

The sedan drove away at speeds of up to 80 mph in a 30 mph zone.

The car had two passengers, Carlson said, and someone threw items from the car on a freeway onramp. Officers were unable to locate the jettisoned objects.

Toward the end of the chase, the car briefly was forced to stop in traffic, at which point one passenger leaped out. He was immediately detained.

The car went on to speed the wrong way down a three-lane street. It spun out of control after swerving to avoid an oncoming car, then crashed into another vehicle. At that point, Rodriguez got out and ran from officers. The cars remaining passenger was arrested, Carlson said.

No one was seriously injured, he said.

Sandi Gibbons, a spokeswoman at the Los Angeles County district attorneys office, had not seen the video and did not know if her office would conduct an independent review.

The kick came during a hectic day of police pursuits, with two other dramatic chases unfolding along Southern California freeways and streets in a period of just five hours.

The first chase occurred around 9 a.m. when undercover Los Angeles Police Department officers briefly followed a pickup truck on the Interstate 10 west of downtown Los Angeles, Officer Karen Rayner said. Officers briefly shut down the eastbound freeway lanes during the morning commuter rush.

Three suspects were arrested at gunpoint, Rayner said. The undercover agents had not provided her with additional information.

Around 12:20 p.m., LAPD officers responded to reports of a suspect fleeing the location of a shooting. Rayner said a man had shot a woman in her 20s several times. Rayner said the woman died at a hospital at 12:50 p.m.

The suspect fled in a red pickup truck, which was seen weaving in and out of traffic at speeds up to 100 mph on an eastbound freeway to the Riverside County city of Corona, where the driver eventually surrendered.

Officials say a suspected drug dealer who led police on a 90 mph chase in Indiana was arrested after he stopped suddenly at a Taco Bell parking lot.

Fort Wayne police Sgt. Mark Walters says 36-year-old Jermaine Askia Cooper told officers he knew he was going to jail for a while and wanted to get one last burrito.

Cooper was held without bail on four counts of dealing cocaine and other charges. And he never got the burrito he craved.

A voicemail mailbox for a listing for a Jermaine Cooper in Fort Wayne was full and not accepting messages.

Police say the chase began Tuesday after Fort Wayne officers spotted Cooper, who was wanted on other charges, and started the chase that ended in the nearby city of Decatur.

Rescuers were searching the ocean off Florida Thursday for survivors after a boat carrying about 30 people many of them Haitian immigrants seeking to escape their countrys crushing poverty capsized and sank.

At least nine people were killed, including an infant, in the Wednesday accident, U.S. Coast Guard officials said. Sixteen more people were pulled out of the rough waters.

Although the Coast Guard hadnt figured out exactly how many people were aboard or how many might still be lost at sea, it appeared most of the passengers were from Haiti and the trip fit the profile of migrant smuggling.

The boat was obviously overloaded, Capt. James Fitton said. Its a tragedy that someone would be so callous with human life.

Since October, the Coast Guard had stopped 1,377 Haitians from trying to get to the U.S., an increase over the 972 during the same seven-month period last year. Four tropical storms and hurricanes battered the Western Hemispheres poorest country during last years harvest season, killing 793 people, crippling agriculture and causing $1 billion in damage to irrigation, bridges and roads.

In January, United Nations-sponsored groups said more aid was urgently needed to stave off famine in several areas of the country. For those familiar with the plight of Haitians, the escape attempt was no surprise.

The economic conditions in Haiti are deplorable, and I dont see them getting any better any time soon, said Andy Gomez, a University of Miami expert on Caribbean migration. And the Haitian-American community has developed a pretty good network here in the last five or 10 years, just as the Cuban-Americans have done, so theres more of a reason to come.

Fitton said the boat apparently left Bimini in the Bahamas on Tuesday night and was believed to have capsized or collided with something at about 2 a.m. Wednesday. Many Caribbean migrants who try to reach the U.S. arrange trips leaving from the Bahamas.

Officials didnt learn about the accident until another boater who spotted swimmers called more than 10 hours later about 15 miles off the shore of Boynton Beach, where water temperatures by the afternoon were in the high 70s.

The boat has not been found, and rescuers believed it sank because it hasnt been spotted from the air. Besides children, women also were aboard, including a pregnant woman.

Several of the bodies recovered were taken from Coast Guard boats onto land in Riviera Beach, where dozens of emergency vehicles were waiting. Three of the survivors were taken to hospitals. The Palm Beach Post reported that one woman was in critical condition, but the Coast Guard said all the rescued people were expected to survive.

The ships sinking came as Haitian-American leaders met in Washington on Wednesday to lobby for temporary protective status, or TPS, for those from the country who make it to the U.S.

It would be an emergency measure to keep people from being deported to their homeland while it recovers from a natural disaster or major political upheaval. It has been granted to countries including El Salvador and Nicaragua but never to Haiti.

If not now, when? Cheryl Little, executive director of the Florida Immigrant Advocacy Center, asked of potentially granting Haitians protective status. The longer it takes the administration to decide whether to grant TPS, the more people may decide to attempt to make it to our shores.

Lil Kim has revealed plans to write a book about her time in a Philadelphia federal prison on charges of perjury, stemming from an infamous 2001 shooting at New York radio station Hot 97. The rapper will title the book Price of Loyalty, according to reports. "It's about the things I learned and went through...You don't think about things until it happens to you, Lil Kim said. The book is going to give people who have been in those situations a bright outlook on life." The rapper has been searching for a publishing deal for the book. Just last year, Lil Kim was sued by Simon & Schuster for not delivering on a book deal. In 2005 BET aired a reality tv show detailing the days leading up to Kim's prison sentence.Having recently been voted off of Dancing with The Stars, the rapper is said to be at work on her next studio album, which will be her first full length studio album since being released from prison in June of 2006. Lil Kim's last album The Naked Truth was awarded five mics from The Source. At press time there has been no release date set for the book.

Akon's Konvict Music recording artist Roderick "Dolla" Burton was fatally shot Monday (May 18) afternoon after an altercation took place in a California shopping center.

Dolla was reportedly with another artist when the incident took place.

According to his publicist, Sue Vannasing, she said Dolla was shot in the head around 3:10 p.m. while he and another rapper, DJ Shabbazz, waited in the Beverly Center mall area after shopping. About two hours later, Los Angeles police detained a "person of interest" as he attempted to board a plane out of Los Angeles International Airport. The man allegedly drove his silver Mercedes SUV from Beverly Center to the airport. Vannasing said Dolla had gotten into an altercation with other passengers on a flight from Atlanta to Los Angeles, but it's unclear if that was related to the violence. (Sun Sentinel)

Employees around the area have commented on the shooting.

At a Chipotle restaurant in the mall, several people were eating when the shots rang out. "The customers were yelling 'close the store, close the store, because somebody is shooting,'" said Elsa Hernandez, general manager of the restaurant. An employee who was behind the restaurant, near the mall's valet parking service, saw the tail end of the dispute, Hernandez said. He saw a lady ... shooting a handgun, Hernandez said. The murder suspect's name was revealed shortly afterward.

The suspect goes by the name Aubery Berry. Here's what went down. Sources say after the shooting, the LAPD put out an alert that the suspect may have fled to the Los Angeles International Airport and the LAX police spotted a man who matched the description, sitting in the lobby area of Terminal 1. Cops approached Berry and almost immediately he said he knew why cops were there and then raised his hands and told them he had a 9 millimeter handgun in his waistband. Berry (we have not confirmed if this is his legal name or an alias) -- a 20-year-old African American male -- was taken into custody. (TMZ)
