One876 has unconfirmed reports that there is major chaos in the island of Turks and Caicos because dancehall deejay Vybz Kartel failed to turn up at a stage show which was scheduled to unfold tonight.



Vybz Kartel issued a statement through his publicists why he did not attend a dancehall show in the Turks and Caicos on Friday.

"A promoter contracted myself and the artiste known as Papcaan to perform in Turks and he was quoted a price. However, the promoter came with less than half the deposit a few days later and was told in no uncertain terms that the sum was unacceptable! He was warned that by indulging in this questionable manner of doing business, he was at risk of a having a no show and he was given a specific time within which to produce the balance of the deposit. We gave him numerous extensions to accommodate his procrastination and sad story telling until we could no longer do so. And as a result of his breach of contract, we decided not to do the show," Kartel said.

Vybz Kartel said that he regretted that he had had to disappoint the true 'Gaza' fans in the Turks and Caicos.

"When a sensible promoter from the Turks is ready to accommodate the Empire, then link my booking agent, and we will make it happen. The Empire is ready and willing to entertain our Turks and Caicos fans, but they have to understand that this is ultimately a business. Arrangements have already been made to return the deposit to the promoters in question," he said.

Negril was totally transformed into the party capital of the world, over the past weekend(August 5-9, 2009). The eastern city saw droves of party enthusiasts, either supporting their ATI or Dream Weekend events, utilising almost a seven-mile strip, at will to soak sun, sand, sea, liquor and music... The veteran weekend pulled out large numbers of partygoers, which saw patrons entering venues as early as 2pm and leaving as late as 5AM. Even though the weekend had Seven Top Events, our team only made it to five, two of which we had received what is known as the "The Experience".

After battling hours of bumper-to-bumper traffic back and forth, it was worth the frustration as Colours and Stages delivered. These two parties can definitely be dubbed as the weekend's best. Colours - with its difference in musical styling, and authentic beach feel, as well as Stages, an event which surpassed all levels of expectation, in terms of decor, physical settings, and numerous VIPs, upper level DJ VIP Area, Bar on the water, internal club with its own DJ, tremendous dance spaces and numerous bars and booths - not to mention one of the best DJ line ups for the weekend.

Which brings us to "The Experience"- what was it? (Dj Karyzma & Kruddy)... they blew all the patrons and us over the ATI weekend into another dimension. They absolutely took the weekend and their respective events by storm while juggling alongside much respected DJ's such as Kurt Riley, Renaissance, Tony Matterhorn and Black Chiney to name a few.

DJ Karyzma does not want to sing his own praises. But, he is slowly making a name for himself as a hotshot selector.

Born Courtney Chambers, the 22-year-old DJ Karyzma is a student at the University of Technology pursuing business administration. He, however, has intentions of pursuing music as his ultimate goal. Karyzma told The WEEKEND STAR how he started selecting.

"I got started in second form at Wolmer's High. I was just listening to Kurt Riley one day and liked the way he was selecting. I started to download software and mixed songs, but back then I was just practising to be like Kurt Riley."

It is no surprise that when asked which disc jock he admires he was quick to answer, Fame's Kurt Riley. He said "He's just unique, (he) puts together the strangest songs and it just works. He's just amazing."

It wasn't until two years ago that the young disc jock began to take his craft seriously making his debut while at UTech. Since then, he had been getting gigs in some of the more major events such as ATI in Negril last weekend, Karma, Rhythm and Booze, Altitude, Solstice, Rumfest, including shows in Trinidad - just to name a few. According to Karzyma he has been getting a good response from patrons and has been getting more and more bookings. Not calling himself a unique selector Karzyma says he is always energetic which is one of his signature trait. The DJ said what sets him apart from the pack is his natural 'charisma'.

While he said he doesn't have the full support of his family when it comes to his current love, he is confident that they will come around, especially as he sees himself in the business for a long time. "I try to be different which I think will make me endure in the business. I see myself mixing in Dubai one day and hopefully to be on radio as a ZIP jock," he said.

Multi-talented Dancehall exponent Serani is making an appearance on one of America's biggest morning time shows tomorrow (Friday.) Serani, who's current "She Loves Me" single is enjoying heavy rotation on HOT 97 and other stations, will appear on "Good Day New York" show which reaches an audience of over 10 million people. The weekday morning news and feature show airs on FOX 5, the flagship television station of the News Corporation--owned Fox Broadcasting Company. The show airs weekday mornings from 5 AM through 10 AM, with Serani scheduled to perform at approximately 9.30am. "Doing TV shows like this is very important to my own development as an artist, as well as raising the profile of Dancehall in the mainstream," says Serani. "Its pretty rare for a Dancehall act to appear on this type of show so I'm very proud and I intend to represent Jamaica to the fullest." Serani, who shot to crossover attention with his smash hit "No Games," is putting the finishing touches to his album which is now slated for an early November release.

As deejay Ninja Man takes a forced 'absence' away from the business in jail, his daughter Samantha 'Ninja Princess' Liesch Ballentine, is hoping to fill the gap left by her father.

At only 16 years old, Ninja Princess is more than ready to take on the business, starting with the dancehall and hopefully end up crossing over to R&B. Having spent most of her time growing up in Switzerland with her mother, Ninja Princess has always been in love with music, due in part, to her adventures with her father.

She told Sources "Me and my father we have a good relationship, I don't get to see him much now, but I did growing up. When I was younger he was like my favourite parent. He was always on the road from hotel to hotel, show to show, and he used to come and carry me with him, bare shows and ting and I loved it."

Having wanted to start pursuing music professionally since she was 14, Ballentine waited two years later to gain a little experience and knowledge, voice and piano training before kicking off her career. For the last seven months, the singer/deejay has been in Jamaica with her mother working on her career. With her father in jail, having been charged with murder, conspiracy to murder and illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition after an incident that took place in March, Ninja Princess finds herself on her musical journey without the immediate assistance of her famous father.

Nonetheless, she tries to keep herself busy including the upcoming release of her video for the song, Can't Touch Me. She said, "That song has a very dancehall flavour and everyone is loving it I think this will be the one that really connects with the people." As for her name, Ballentine is trying to keep the memory of her father alive and stating to the world that she is her father's little princess.

Reggae artiste, Little Heros latest album Revelation premiered on Billboards Top Reggae Album Chart at number one.

The album was produced by Inspire Muzik, and features several hit singles including God Alone, Inna Di Ghetto, No More War, and Praise God. 

The compilation was originally released in Japan under Diamond Edge Records in December 2007 and it currently being distributed by Sound Quake Digital out of Germany.
Little Hero is best known for delivering positive and uplifting music as he continues to make major strides in the industry. When asked about his album being on the charts he said

Four Jamaican athletes cleared by doping panel

KINGSTON, USA (Reuters) -- Four Jamaican athletes who tested positive for a stimulant at June's national championships were cleared by a tribunal hearing their cases on Monday.

The panel decided the stimulant methylxanthine found in the test samples of Yohan Blake, Allodin Fothergill, Lansford Spence and Marvin Anderson was not on the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) list of prohibited substances.

"Therefore the athletes were not liable under the WADA code," Kent Gammon, chairman of the disciplinary committee of the Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission, told reporters.

Gammon said the athletes ingested the stimulant in the form of capsules.

"They told the committee that they had done the checks that were necessary with the product and found that it was safe to consume," he said.

Gammon said lawyers for the four had presented "unassailable evidence and added: "We therefore upheld submissions from the attorneys, that the athletes had no case to answer."

The committee earlier had cleared Commonwealth Games 100 metres champion Sheri-Ann Brooks.

She also tested positive for the stimulant but the panel ruled the anti-doping commission had mishandled her second sample.

The world athletics championships begin in Berlin on Aug. 15.

A Pompton Lakes woman trying to break free of an unhappy marriage was stabbed to death Sunday night by her estranged husband, who then slashed his own throat as police confronted him, according to authorities.

As the tragedy unfolded, the couple's 9-year-old daughter had run downstairs to neighbors with *lo** on her clothes and crying hysterically: "Call 911"¦ my father is killing my mother."

The husband, 51-year-old Jitendrab Patel, was still alive last night and was reported by police to be in critical but stable condition at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Paterson.

If he survives, police said, he faces charges of murder and assorted weapons offenses in the stabbing of his wife, Pratixabahen Patel, 35.

Police said neighbors called at 10:07 p.m. Sunday to report a domestic disturbance at the Patel condominium on Mountainside Drive. Sgt. Robert Sutton and patrolmen Peter Kamper and Steven Kouefati responded but found the door locked.

They were about to kick in the door when the victim's father, Pursottamdash Patel, who lived there but had fled with his 9-year-old granddaughter when the attack started, opened the door with a key.

"The officers went in and observed *lo** all over the dining room and the kitchen," police detective Lt. Steve Seifried said. "Then as they rounded the corner, they observed the husband leaning over in the kitchen and stabbing her in the upper chest."

The officers drew their weapons and ordered Patel to drop the knife but it was stuck in her chest, Seifried said.

Patel then grabbed another knife off the counter and "cut across the length of his neck and fell on top of his wife,'' Seifried said.

The Patels' daughter was staying with relatives yesterday, according to police. Information on Pursottamdash Patel was unavailable.

The alleged killing was a nightmarish end to a 13-year marriage that neighbors said had taken a violent turn in the last six months. Police said they had been called to the house several times for domestic disputes.

Toward the end of April, Pratixabahen Patel contacted Pompton Plains divorce attorney Larry Bruce Goodman. A few days later, Goodman alleged yesterday, Jitendrab Patel put sugar in the engine of his wife's car, which could have caused the car to slow down while being driven. That resulted in the husband having to move out of the house at his wife's demand.

Soon after the couple started divorce proceedings, Goodman said.

"He was not happy about the prospect of being divorced,'' he said. "He had inquired about whether there could be a reconciliation, but that was declined.''

Albert Gerais and his wife, Nida, who live downstairs from the Patels, said the Patels' marriage had been arranged in India. The Patels had worked together at P.N.Y. Technologies Inc., a computer hardware manufacturer in Parsippany. Pratixabahen Patel had been afraid of her husband but didn't believe her life was in danger, the neighbors said.

Nida Gerais said Pratixabahen Patel was "very nice, very friendly, completely the opposite of her husband.''

"He didn't talk much to anyone,'' she said.

One person Jitendrab Patel did talk to was Albert Gerais. They talked about handyman work around the house.

"Personal things he didn't discuss,'' Gerais said.

But he described Patel as "very jealous, controlling and paranoid.''

In addition to the Patels' 9-year-old daughter, whom police did not identified, the husband also has a son who is attending college in Pennsylvania, the neighbors said.

"She took the son in when he was 4 years old,'' Gerais said. "She always said, "I have two kids. I treat them the same.'"

Patel had visitation rights with his daughter after the couple separated, Goodman said. On Sunday night, according to the Geraises, Patel had arrived at the condominium to drop off his daughter after they spent the day together.

Gerais said the daughter told him her father said he needed to get some clothes from the bedroom. That was when violence began -- Nida Gerais said she heard "screaming and stomping'' and both she and husband reached for their phones to call police.

A 26-year-old woman and her 17-year-old lover are now before the court after they were accused of taking turns to sexually molest a 12-year-old girl.

The couple turned up in the Old Harbour Resident Magis-trate's Court on Friday, following investigations by the police. They were both charged with indecent assault and conspiracy to commit indecent assault.

Investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Carey Duncan, in outlining the case, said that in late July, both parties lured the 12-year-old complainant to Old Harbour, St Catherine. He said that the child was taken to their home where the accused persons took turns to sexually assault her. The female accomplice is alleged to have used a dildo to assualt the child, while her lover allegedly had sex with her. The child was also allegedly forced to perform oral sex on both parties.

The court was told that the incident occurred after the 26-year-old woman found out that her teen lover was allegedly involved in a relationship with the child. They are said to have then conspired to molest the child.

Having heard the allegation, the resident magistrate expressed concern about the woman living with the teen as a commom-law couple.

The complainant is currently undergoing counselling as ordered by the court. A bail application was not entertained by the Crown and the accused persons are to return to court August 21.

A charismatic Elephant Man saved the Appleton Temptation Live stage show in Negril from ending on a disappointing note following an onstage altercation between dancehall act Aidonia and a member of Mavado's entourage.

Patrons were enjoying themselves at the signature ATI event before a member of Mavado's entourage went onstage during Aidonia's performance and began to bully the selector to stop playing the tracks. This, however, did not go over well with Aidonia who intervened, but the police were quickly alerted and they successfully restored order.

Following Aidonia's performance, Mavado made his much-anticipated entrance to the stage where he gave a brief but excellent performance, much to the delight of the patrons. He was quick to make amends for the incident and paused to say "nuh worry people, everything good", before reeling off his chart-topping favourites, which included his recently released Mockingbird.

However, it was the 'Energy God' who recaptured the spirit of enjoyment at the capacity-filled venue, as 'Ele' had the entire audience at Wavz Beach dancing the night away throughout his entire performance.

So infectious and entertaining was his performance, that he pleaded with the police to not end his performance prematurely as he wanted patrons to continue enjoying themselves. "Offica, mi a beg unnoo, please nuh lock off di thing yet. Mi know unnoo a do unnoo work but please, mek di people dem enjoy themselves," the entertainer pleaded.

Elephant Man didn't waste a second of the additional time he received and offered the international and local audience a delicious serving of dancehall entertainment with his catalogue of hits before he exited the stage.

Rodney 'Bounty Killer' Pryce made his presence felt and was in command of his fans the entire time he performed. His unlimited archive of hit songs underscored his ability to still rock the crowd.

Among the entertainers who represented themselves well were D'Angel, Demarco, the dynamic trio Voicemail, who created a dancing frenzy as they performed their hit songs, Leftside and Wayne Marshall. Newcomers G-Whizz and Wasp also engaged the crowd throughout their performances.

Australia is far from being a huge commercial success for reggae artist. None the less, the last few years has seen the likes of Luciano & Mikey General  (twice), Chakka Demus & Pliers, Jah Mason (twice), Junior Reid, Mykal Rose, Lady Saw, Bushman tour the counrty, paving the way in one of the few places where the music really has only an underground following.

Anthony B is now set to tour Australia in September. He is playing at a festival in Cairns called 'Reggaetown' & find himself in the unlikely position of being 3rd on the bill behind a New Zealand reggae band called Katchafire & Australian headlining roots, reggae act Blue King Brown (who have played Reggae On The River & SNMF.) He also hits all the major cities headlining his own shows, with other local artist, selectas & bands in support.

I for 1 am excitted about seeing Anthony B perform as he has a BIG repution for dazzeling live shows!!!
