Let me find out Twitter is being used as a tool for fiend out groupies to link up with their celebrity crushes for a one night quickie! Apparently some groupie out in Cali let Soulja Boys lame ass beat and was ecstatic about it too! GROSS!
Over the weekend me and my girls were in LA for the bet awards. Im originally from the bay area (Oakland to be exact) anyways, I had been working and saving the last few months to get orchestra seats at the bet awards, and a bangin ass Tory Burch dress. (mission accomplished) ANYWAYS Ive been gettin on twitter a lot, twitting with bow wow, yung berg, spec of pretty ricky and last but not least SOULJA BOY. Though before the awards I never met them in person just twitted with them, but thought nothing of it. Everyone whos on twitter, knows all the names I just mentioned wont even give you the time of day if your not a pretty girl. Me myself, Im not conceited but I have heard it a few times or more. Im black and Japanese, and boys usually dig that. So fast forward, I was talking to SB through a DM (direct message) and telling him how I had plans to got to the awards with my girls and live it up like celebs. He told me, to holla at him when I touch down Friday and MAYBE we can hook up if he has some time. So I was juiced. He didnt give me his number, he just expected me to hit him on twitter, since he be on it all the time. So I did, it was around 2:30am when I signed on to twitter me and my cousin just got in from rollin around gettin into sh*t. I sent him a DM at exactly 2:45am and got a reply from him at 3:15, asking me to take a cab to where he was staying. So I obliged.
POP THE HOOD FIND OUT WHAT HAPPENS NEXT!

FAST FORWARD, I get there. One of his boys opens the door, it seems like they had just got in because they were all fully dressed. So SB and me went to his suite, we talked for a minute, it was a little awkward, because he met me off of TWITTER but we made conversation and it was coo. So after all that talkin we finally started kissing. and tasted so sweet. Hes a nibbler. He was kissing my neck my lips and licking my ear! Thats my spot!
So I started kissing him all on his neck, lifted up his t-shirt and started kissing his abs all the way down till I got to his belt buckle. I looked up at him, and he told me we aint gotta do this if you dont want to but I wanted to!! I was horny as f*ck by then. And by the bulge I seen he aint to be played with. So I unbuckled his pants, and took his pretty, smooth caramel d*ck out his pants and got to work. Licking, sucking, slobbering all over it! It tasted damn good too. And I really aint into suckin anybodys d*ck, celeb or not but his was a different story. So after he came on my tits he told me to take my clothes off. He LOVES head so he tells me to suck it while gettin on top in a 69 position.. I couldnt believe he was about to eat the p*ssy. But I hopped on top anyways. and he went to work. Had a b!$%h running. And he likes to talk dirty and make his tongue stiff and stick it deep in your p*ssy hole. I came after like 20 minutes of head. But then he had me beggin for the d*ck. So I got on top, rode him. He loved that. We did it missionary; he hit it from the back. We did it all! Took a shower and I was out of there by 7am the next morning. I havent talk to him on twitter he hasnt DMD me and I havent messaged him. Would I do it again? Hell yeah, I want him to taste this p*ssy again he need to lemme know when he get back to the bay! Lol. But that experience was wonderful, I wouldnt trade it for the world!

I really find this ish hard to believebut its funny as hell!

This is Jason Abdulla being referred to by Norman Brown and this was my response to this piece! I must say that I am Guyanese and i'm a big fan of this website and the information carried here. I love the music, wether Gaza or Gully. But Alliance fi life me seh! Bounty Killer to de flipping world! Gullyside comes next then Gaza!

One Norman Brown is more dangerous to society than ten Mavados.

Dear Editor,

Please allow me to respond to a letter that appeared in the Thursday, 10th September 2009 edition of the Stabroek News, titled Mavado should not be allowed to perform in Guyana and written by Norman Brown.

Despite all the bad that is said, it takes one (1) Norman Brown to incur far more danger than 10 Mavados to any society. This is clearly demonstrated when he stated the governments decision to lift the ban has not been properly spelled out. However, I looked forward to Eric Phillips contribution on the lifting of the ban. It is the Afro-Caribbean youth that is targeted here. This sort of music is given to them as their music. The government seems to be saying it is okay to tell our young men and women that deh dont know da meanin, when meh seh marrow paste on da ceiling, obviously inferring to what he perceives as an attempt by the government to use the negatives in Mavados music in a disadvantageous way to Afro-Guyanese.

This is a photo provided by Horry County Dentition Center of Rodell Vereen, 50, AP  This is a photo provided by Horry County Dentition Center of Rodell Vereen, 50, who was arrested Monday

COLUMBIA, S.C. A South Carolina man was charged with having sex with a horse after the animal's owner caught the act on videotape, then staked out the stable and caught him at shotgun point, authorities said Wednesday.

But this wasn't the first time Rodell Vereen has been charged with buggery. He pleaded guilty last year to having sex with the same horse after owner Barbara Kenley found him in the same stable and was sentenced to probation and placed on the state's sex offender list.

Kenley said she noticed several weeks ago her 21-year-old horse Sugar was acting strange and getting infections again. She noticed things in the barn had been moved around dirt piled up and bales of hay stacked near the horse's stall at her Lazy B Stables in Longs, about 20 miles northeast of Myrtle Beach.

"Police kept telling me it couldn't be the same guy," Kenley said Wednesday. "I couldn't believe that there were two guys going around doing this to the same horse."

She spent several nights at the stables, which are about four miles from her home, but didn't find anything. So she installed surveillance cameras, and when she reviewed the footage from July 19, she couldn't believe she was seeing the same man doing the same thing to her horse.

Kenley didn't call police because she was certain the man would come back to the stable, and she wanted to make sure he was arrested. So she staked out the barn and caught Vereen inside Monday night, chasing him to his truck and holding him with her shotgun until police came.

"He said he wasn't there to do anything, and I said, 'I know you were. I have you on tape.' And then he said he was sorry if he hurt me," Kenley said.

Vereen, 50, was first charged with trespassing, but police added a buggery charge after watching the surveillance tape. He faces up to five years if convicted. Vereen was already on probation after pleading guilty to buggery last year and was sentenced to three years of probation, ordered to stay away from the Lazy B Stables and declared a sex offender. He remains in jail, awaiting a hearing Monday to determine if he violated his probation.

Officials said they did not know if he has an attorney.

Vereen has had mental problems for several years, but seemed to get better after getting court-ordered treatment last year, said his brother, the Rev. James Vereen, who lives just down the street from his brother and the stables.

"He's done all right when he was on the medicine. I don't know if he is still taking it," said James Vereen, who added his brother has kept to himself a lot in the last few months.

Horry County police don't often investigate animal sex allegations, spokesman Sgt. Robert Kegler said. In fact, he said the last person charged with buggery in the county was Rodell Vereen in late 2007.

Kenley said she caught him then too. She stopped by her stable on Thanksgiving Day and found a man asleep in the hay by her horse, who had been locked in her stall, a mound of dirt and a stool behind her.

She said she thought about shooting Vereen both times, but didn't want to go to prison.

"Everyone around here has horses," Kenley said. "And they all said the same thing. You should have shot him."

Okay so I just noticed I left the "r" out of "your" in that Facebook update but that's what happens when you stay up till 5 am binge drinking, you know? Also, waking up with strange bruises and an even stranger man in your bed (seriously brah, it's 10:30 -- time for you to go). Anyway, worst burglar ever:

The popular online social networking site Facebook helped lead to an alleged burglar's arrest after he stopped check his account on the victim's computer, but forgot to log out before leaving the home with two diamond rings.

[The victim] told police that someone had broken into her home through a bedroom window.

There were open cabinets in her garage, and other signs of a burglar.

The victim later noticed that the intruder also used her computer to check his Facebook status, and his account was still open when she checked the computer.

Wow, that's almost as bad as the time I broke into a house and accidentally spelled my name out on the fridge in alphabet magnets. Almost -- but this guy is way stupider.

lol

The music world is in mourning after it was announced by hip hop artist Busta Rhymes that his personal DJ, Roc Raida, is dead aged 37.

Raida, an avid mixed martial arts devotee, had injured his back while training at a gym, and had received back surgery twice in the time since to correct the injury.

He was recovering from the surgery when complications saw his health take a turn for the worst, and he died Saturday Sept. 19. at 2:05 p.m.

Born Anthony Williams, Raid won the 1995 DMC World DJ Championship, earning a spot in the DMC Hall of Fame four years later. The turntable spinner worked with some of the biggest names in music, including Ghostface Killah, Jungle Brothers, Busta Rhymes, Big L and Linkin Park.

He had released six solo albums and seven more with his group, the X-Ecutioners.

Williams had trained in mixed martial arts for several years. He was recovering at an "inpatient physical therapy facility" at the time of his death, according to a statement from his family.

"Family and friends will miss him dearly. Please give the family their privacy," the statement continued.

Busta Rhymes said on his Twitter stream, "I never met a more humble man in the industry...So unbelievably talented and most importantly such beautiful spirit...I LOVE U MY BROTHER..." before talking about how "We r loosing all of these great people this year as a result of God calling his army because something is about 2 go down!!"

"To me, he was the best DJ on the planet--nobody can tell me different," his friend Lord Finesse told StreetHop.com. "Until they do what Roc Raida has done, from body tricks to beat juggling to speed scratching. I mean, everything ... he made that %&%* look easy."

A post on Williams' MySpace page had previously warned fans that "rumors and chatter are not accurate." His family called the death "unexpected."

Williams is survived by his wife and three daughters.

Spanking May Lower Kids' IQs

FRIDAY, Sept. 25 (HealthDay News) -- The bad news is that youngsters who are spanked might lose IQ points.

The good news is that it appears that children's IQs are on the rise -- and at least one expert believes that part of the reason why is that corporal punishment is falling out of favor in the United States and elsewhere.

That's the view of discipline and domestic violence expert Murray Straus, a professor of sociology and co-director of the Family Research Laboratory at the University of New Hampshire. Straus was scheduled to present the findings from recent research on spanking on Friday at the International Conference on Violence, Abuse and Trauma in San Diego.

The results of a survey of more than 17,000 university students from 32 countries "show that the higher the percent of parents who used corporal punishment, the lower the national average IQ," Straus wrote in his presentation.

http://dept.ca.uky.edu/sgaworsk/blogpictures/spanking.jpg

In looking at spanking just in the United States, Straus and a fellow researcher reviewed data on IQ scores from 806 children between 2 and 4 years old and another 704 kids aged 5 to 9.

When their IQs were tested again four years later, children in the younger group who were not spanked scored five points higher, on average, than did children who had been spanked. In the group of older children, spanking resulted in an average loss of 2.8 points.

Kidnap fear grips the wealthy

September 27, 2009
Started By STUWY771 Comments

The kidnapping of the son of Manchester businessman and aspiring politician Paul Lyn has pushed some of the island's rich into defensive mode amid reports that other families with financial clout were being targeted by criminals wanting to make big money from ransom.

Members of five Jamaican families interviewed by the Sunday Observer all said that they had already started the process of applying sharper protection for their families in the face of 17 reported kidnappings here since January 1, according to police statistics. All declined to be identified, obviously not wanting to be placed in the spotlight.

"I don't know about anybody else, but my family is dear to me and I will spend every cent to ensure that they are protected," said one of Jamaica's leading manufacturers, who lives in the capital city.

The abduction of 12-year-old Lyn forced his family to fork out $4 million in ransom payment to the kidnappers whom a high-ranking police source described as being "very smooth and very well-organised with an obviously fledgling business".

The boy was grabbed on his way to school by men who travelled in two vehicles Wednesday morning and taken to a still undetermined location. He was released after the money was dropped off along a section of a Central Jamaica highway late Thursday night.

The boy was left close to a food outlet in the Clarendon capital of May Pen around 12:30 Friday morning, police confirmed. He was not harmed.

Paul Lyn ran unsuccessfully for the People's National Party against Finance and the Public Service Minister Audley Shaw in Manchester North East during the 2007 general election.

The kidnapping is almost certain to put his family and himself under more pressure as the action comes close to the third anniversary of the kidnapping of his relatives, elderly couple Richard and Julia Lyn, on December 10, 2006 from their residence in Manchester. Their decomposed bodies were later found in a dump in the parish.

Elderly couple Richard and Julia Lyn were kidnapped on December 10, 2006 from their residence in Manchester

The men who were charged with their murder will appear in the Home Circuit Court tomorrow.

Close friend of the Lyns, attorney-at-law K Churchill Neita, is urging Jamaicans to be more alert and aware now than before.

"People definitely have to be more alert. The kidnappers seem to be targeting people who are paralysed with fear," said Neita. "They target the most vulnerable and that includes the children, who will hardly put up a fight, or take note of a licence plate or pay attention to other details.

"The whole society has reached a stage where we have to be more on our Ps and Qs, because of the state of the economy and the inability of the Government to address the problems. We all have to be more vigilant," Neita added.

Since the young Lyn's kidnapping, reports have surfaced that the kidnappers had mentioned in telephone conversations with negotiators that there was a list that contained the names of prominent Jamaicans who would also be targeted.

"This thing is really getting serious and it appears that our local police don't have an answer to it," a leading western Jamaica businesswoman said.

"Families like ours, who are thought to be rich, are really at the mercy of these people. I have been talking to my husband and he is convinced, just as I was when I heard of this incident, that we should hire private security personnel to ensure that at least our two high school children have some amount of protection," said the woman.

"This may be too bad for the children, who may not get much breathing space and their friends may be turned off, but it seems like that is what we have to resort to, until the people who swore to protect and serve us can do just that," the businesswoman said, in obvious reference to the police.

Last week's kidnapping was not the first in Central Jamaica since the year began. There have been four others. While the organised crime division of the constabulary continues to operate with sealed lips regarding details about the Lyn kidnapping, two senior operatives of the police force, who spoke with the Sunday Observer on condition that their names do not appear in print, said that it was difficult to stop what seems to be an increasing trend in kidnappings.

One admitted that the police did not have enough training and resources within its ranks.

"Our men and women in the force are not exposed to enough training in kidnapping situations," said the senior cop. "But that is one issue. Even if they are trained sufficiently, they cannot prevent kidnappings. People will have to be more proactive and not expose themselves to unnecessary risks."

Kidnappings are frequent in the south Caribbean island of Trinidad & Tobago, raising speculation of a connection to the Lyn abduction.

However, the other senior police officer who spoke with this newspaper, while not ruling out a relationship with the twin-island republic, suggested that there could be a broader link.

"This thing is obviously big business," he said. "Our police personnel will have to be extra smart to stop what appears on the surface to be a well-orchestrated plan that, in my opinion, has far-reaching links that go beyond the Caribbean. Based upon what I have noticed, I would not be surprised if there is a Mexican connection here too, because some of the kidnappings in Jamaica pan out just like some of those in Mexico, as also, in Mexico, there has been a lot of kidnapping of children because they are physically easier to manage and parents seem more concerned about paying for them quicker than they would find the money to release adults who have been kidnapped."

Meanwhile, other members of other families whose asset base by their own reckoning surpasses $250 million, are resorting to means that they did not want to disclose.

"We are taking the necessary measures to ensure that we are safe. You cannot ask us to tell you what those measures are. It would not be wise," said the head of the household of a prominent Indian family involved in the import and export business.

Still another businessman from Central Jamaica, who has a range of business enterprises, said that while he saw the need to make sure that his family had protection, it was important that other families do not panic, what with increased or newly introduced security measures.

"You don't want a situation whereby your children get the feeling that they are like the children of the president of the United States, where there is security all over the place," he said. "Children need to have their space too, so we have to be careful how we go about changing our lives all at one go. There must be an education programme in place to alert children, and women in particular, about the possibilities of kidnapping."

WASHINGTON Students beware: The summer vacation you just enjoyed could be sharply curtailed if President Barack Obama gets his way.

Obama says American kids spend too little time in school, putting them at a disadvantage with other students around the globe.

"Now, I know longer school days and school years are not wildly popular ideas," the president said earlier this year. "Not with Malia and Sasha, not in my family, and probably not in yours. But the challenges of a new century demand more time in the classroom."

The president, who has a sixth-grader and a third-grader, wants schools to add time to classes, to stay open late and to let kids in on weekends so they have a safe place to go.

"Our school calendar is based upon the agrarian economy and not too many of our kids are working the fields today," Education Secretary Arne Duncan said in a recent interview with The Associated Press.

Fifth-grader Nakany Camara is of two minds. She likes the four-week summer program at her school, Brookhaven Elementary School in Rockville, Md. Nakany enjoys seeing her friends there and thinks summer school helped boost her grades from two Cs to the honor roll.

But she doesn't want a longer school day. "I would walk straight out the door," she said.

Domonique To****s felt the same way when she learned she would stay for an extra three hours each day in sixth grade at Boston's Clarence R. Edwards Middle School.

"I was like, `Wow, are you serious?'" she said. "That's three more hours I won't be able to chill with my friends after school."

Her school is part of a 3-year-old state initiative to add 300 hours of school time in nearly two dozen schools. Early results are positive. Even reluctant Domonique, who just started ninth grade, feels differently now. "I've learned a lot," she said.

Does Obama want every kid to do these things? School until dinnertime? Summer school? And what about the idea that kids today are overscheduled and need more time to play?

___

Obama and Duncan say kids in the United States need more school because kids in other nations have more school.

"Young people in other countries are going to school 25, 30 percent longer than our students here," Duncan told the AP. "I want to just level the playing field."

While it is true that kids in many other countries have more school days, it's not true they all spend more time in school.

Kids in the U.S. spend more hours in school (1,146 instructional hours per year) than do kids in the Asian countries that persistently outscore the U.S. on math and science tests Singapore (903), Taiwan (1,050), Japan (1,005) and Hong Kong (1,013). That is despite the fact that Taiwan, Japan and Hong Kong have longer school years (190 to 201 days) than does the U.S. (180 days).

___

Regardless, there is a strong case for adding time to the school day.

Researcher Tom Loveless of the Brookings Institution looked at math scores in countries that added math instruction time. Scores rose significantly, especially in countries that added minutes to the day, rather than days to the year.

"Ten minutes sounds trivial to a school day, but don't forget, these math periods in the U.S. average 45 minutes," Loveless said. "Percentage-wise, that's a pretty healthy increase."

In the U.S., there are many examples of gains when time is added to the school day.

Charter schools are known for having longer school days or weeks or years. For example, kids in the KIPP network of 82 charter schools across the country go to school from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., more than three hours longer than the typical day. They go to school every other Saturday and for three weeks in the summer. KIPP eighth-grade classes exceed their school district averages on state tests.

In Massachusetts' expanded learning time initiative, early results indicate that kids in some schools do better on state tests than do kids at regular public schools. The extra time, which schools can add as hours or days, is for three things: core academics kids struggling in English, for example, get an extra English class; more time for teachers; and enrichment time for kids.

Regular public schools are adding time, too, though it is optional and not usually part of the regular school day. Their calendar is pretty much set in stone. Most states set the minimum number of school days at 180 days, though a few require 175 to 179 days.

Several schools are going year-round by shortening summer vacation and lengthening other breaks.

Many schools are going beyond the traditional summer school model, in which schools give remedial help to kids who flunked or fell behind.

Summer is a crucial time for kids, especially poorer kids, because poverty is linked to problems that interfere with learning, such as hunger and less involvement by their parents.

That makes poor children almost totally dependent on their learning experience at school, said Karl Alexander, a sociology professor at Baltimore's Johns Hopkins University, home of the National Center for Summer Learning.

Disadvantaged kids, on the whole, make no progress in the summer, Alexander said. Some studies suggest they actually fall back. Wealthier kids have parents who read to them, have strong language skills and go to great lengths to give them learning opportunities such as computers, summer camp, vacations, music lessons, or playing on sports teams.

"If your parents are high school dropouts with low literacy levels and reading for pleasure is not hard-wired, it's hard to be a good role model for your children, even if you really want to be," Alexander said.

Extra time is not cheap. The Massachusetts program costs an extra $1,300 per student, or 12 percent to 15 percent more than regular per-student spending, said Jennifer Davis, a founder of the program. It received more than $17.5 million from the state Legislature last year.

The Montgomery County, Md., summer program, which includes Brookhaven, received $1.6 million in federal stimulus dollars to operate this year and next, but it runs for only 20 days.

Aside from improving academic performance, Education Secretary Duncan has a vision of schools as the heart of the community. Duncan, who was Chicago's schools chief, grew up studying alongside poor kids on the city's South Side as part of the tutoring program his mother still runs.

"Those hours from 3 o'clock to 7 o'clock are times of high anxiety for parents," Duncan said. "They want their children safe. Families are working one and two and three jobs now to make ends meet and to keep food on the table."

For the last four weeks, residents of Flint River in St Mary, have been waging a war. They have being fighting against duppies that have invaded their community, terrorising residents and possessing children.

An army of ghosts, THE STAR was told, has been accused of possessing a number of students from the area. One resident, Michael, said; "Sometime di pickney dem a talk, dem mouth nah open or move, but yu hear sound a come out a dem. Di duppy dem a talk all kinda tings."

So determined are the residents to get rid of the unwanted guests, that a band of 'duppy conquerors' made up of community members and persons from two local churches, have taken to marching the community's streets at nights, searching for and beating any duppy that is so brave as to reveal him or herself.

black out

One church member, who sought anonymity, explained the reason for their action. "When dem go inna di pickney dem, is like dem 'black' out. Dem cyaan walk, dem cyaan see, is like dem blind," she said.

She told THE STAR that when the invasion started, there were just a few of the supernatural beings. Over time, however, more have turned up, bringing the number of them to about seven, six females and one male.

"The first time it happened, one a dem just walked into the church and started talking to the pastor," she said. She said she could not see the being, but heard its voice clearly. She said the ghost refused to reveal who had sent it, but said it came for the children in the area and wanted to ensure that they did not do well in school or attend college. She said, "Some a dem seh dem come from Port Maria, Ochi, Annotto Bay, all bout di place."

With the evident threat, the residents decided to fight back. On Tuesday, for example, Michael said that a group of residents marched for about a mile, chanting and searching for the ghosts. He said he watched as they claimed to have finally caught one and gave her a fine beating.

beat di bush

"Mi see dem a beat sumting inna di bush, mi neva see nuttin, mi jus' see dem a beat di bush wid some stick and iron, an dem seh a di duppy dem a beat," he said.

He said he also saw the residents running around a church, claiming that one of the duppies had gone there to hide.

The church woman with whom THE STAR spoke said that Tuesday's search was organised because they had heard that the ghosts were planning to attack a little boy. "Wi anoint di stick wid olive oil and beat dem," she said

With more marches and beatings planned for the coming days the residents said that they expect to be able to chase out the remaining ghosts from the community.

A police officer from the Richmond Police Station, told THE STAR yesterday, through chuckles, that he had heard of the residents' actions. He, however, said it was not a matter for the police.

Taylor Swift owes Kanye West an apology. Last night at the MTV Video Music Awards Taylor Swift was given Beyonces award for Best Female Video, and refused to acknowledge the mistake. Courageously Kanye West jumped on stage and heroically wrestled the mic away from the 19-year-old hellcat.

Kanye decried MTVs horrible mistake saying, Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time one of the best videos of all time!

Sorry Kanye but to say Beyonces Single Ladies is one of the best videos of all time is a gross understatement. That video is the single greatest achievement in the history of the world (and probably the whole universe).

Beyonce in a leotard doing a dance created by someone else back in the 70s touched my soul like nothing ever has before! Not to mention the video is shot in black and white! Everyone knows anything shot in black and white is super artistic. Oh and dont even get me started on the song! The repeated shouting of All my single ladies! is one of the most moving bits of music ever made period!

Beyonce not winning for Best Female Video was like 9/11ing the Holocaust. Kanye was the only person brave enough to take a stand, and for this he should be praised. Not only that but Taylor Swift was totally calling Kanye the N-word with her eyes. I dem

TIVOLI Gardens strongman Christopher 'Dudus' Coke, who the US Department of State last week branded one of the world's most dangerous narco criminals, is the latest member of the Coke family to have made headlines for the wrong reasons.

The US Drug Enforcement Agency says Coke has inherited the reins of the notorious Shower Posse and has accused him of trafficking in cocaine, marijuana and arms.

Coke, also known as 'The President' and 'Shortman', has lost his father, two brothers and a sister violently and now faces life imprisonment in a US penal facility. He is the adopted son of the late Jamaica Labour Party political enforcer and accused drug dealer, Lester Lloyd Coke, more popularly known as 'Jim Brown'.

Lester Coke rose to prominence following the deaths of his mentor and predecessors, Claudius Massop and Carl 'Byah' Mitchell.

Massop; racehorse trainer Lloyd Fraser, 21; and Canadian resident Trevor Tinson, were cut down by police bullets in February 1979 in what lawmen described as a shoot-out at the corner of Industrial Terrace and Marcus Garvey Drive. Mitchell died from a brain haemorrhage brought on by a narcotic overdose in May 1988.

Mitchell was second in command to Massop; his death opened the way for Lester Coke to step up and fill the breach of political enforcer, who was key in the fight for political spoils during the turbulent era of the 1970s.

The timing of Lester Coke's ascension to the top rung of the Tivoli Gardens garrison was perfect as a year before, the party he fought tooth and nail for - the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) - swept the national elections.

The party was led by a fiery Edward Seaga who was also the member of parliament for West Kingston in which Tivoli Gardens was the central lynch pin.

The JLP was assisted by the US to oust Michael Manley's People's National Party which, at the time, seemed to be in cahoots with America's arch rival and political enemy, Cuba's Fidel Castro.

In return for the US support, the JLP Government embarked on a ganja eradication campaign. Ganja was at the time a major cash crop for some Jamaicans, and the destruction of acres of the seedlings, sometimes with deadly chemicals which destroyed other legal crops, paved the way for the island to become the major trans-shipment port for the deadly drug, cocaine.

The opportunity was ripe for Lester Coke and his cronies who formed themselves into the Shower Posse and exploited the cocaine trade to amass great wealth and opulence. The gang got its name from the JLP election slogan 'Shower', which was a response to the PNP's 'Power' that was coined from Manley's 'Power for the people' slogan in the 1970s.

They took on the name after a speech by Seaga in which he promised that: "Blessings will shower from the sky and money going jingle in your pockets."

Lester Coke, along with his confidante Vivian Blake, were the two leading figures in the Shower Posse. Blake was responsible for the US-based operations of the gang, while Lester Coke held things together on local soil before he made his foray into the US and helped to set up cells of the Shower Posse in New York, Miami, Kansas City, Chicago, Philadelphia, Los Angeles and other cities.

As the Shower Posse extended its reach, it became an increasing annoyance to the US federal authorities because of its blatant disregard for life. Several gruesome murders related to drug deals gone sour were blamed on the Shower Posse and soon the US Government were determined to stamp out the gang.

The largesse garnered from the illegal drug trade brought Lester Coke a new found power, and coupled with his ruthless enforcer style, resulted in a new breed of political thugs who no longer looked to politicians for handouts.

The power that came with the ill-gotten gains soon began to play out in the streets of Kingston. In the early 1980s, Lester Coke was virtually untouchable.

The brutal slaying of a bus driver, who allegedly bad-mouthed Lester Coke in the aftermath of a traffic incident, showed that he wielded considerable power.

The driver had apparently realised too late who he was bad-mouthing and made a mad rush for the Denham Town Police Station where he sought protection from police officers. But the cops could not save him; he was dragged from the police station by Jim Brown and his cronies who shot and stabbed him to death.

Lester Coke was eventually charged for the murder but was acquitted after no witnesses turned up in court.

In 1984, Lester Coke reportedly led a large gang of armed thugs from Tivoli Gardens into the nearby community of Wilton Gardens, popularly known as Rema, and laid siege. In the end, 12 residents were killed in what was dubbed at the time, 'The Rema Killings'.

The attack was reportedly launched because factions in Rema were upset that the community, which was the JLP enclave's first line of defence against PNP gunmen who often launched attacks from nearby Arnett Gardens, was being neglected by the political leader.

Soon after, an arrest warrant was issued for Lester Coke, but he fled the island for the United States. Still, the Shower Posse was coming under increasing pressure from the US Government and in 1987 Lester Coke, forced to flee that country, slipped back into Jamaica and was arrested on the outstanding warrant.

Again, the case against him was weak; the alleged eyewitness changed her statement and was eventually charged with perverting the course of justice.

When it was announced in the Supreme Court that Lester Coke was freed, dozens of supporters gave a prolonged gun salute in front of the court, leaving cops, judges, lawyers and members of the public cowering in fear. The crowd then lifted Coke on their shoulders and carried him triumphantly into Tivoli Gardens.

But Jim Brown's troubles were just beginning. Months later, tragedy would strike in his family. Lester Coke's daughter, known as 'Mumpi', was shot and killed during a gunfight in which her man was also killed. Mumpi was reportedly crouched over his body crying when his killers walked up to her and ended her life.

In 1990, Lester Coke, who, along with Blake and several other leading members of the Shower Posse, was indicted by the US Department of Justice, was again arrested by the Jamaican Government. This time he would have a harder time walking free as the US Government had racked up a series of federal charges against him.

Despite running the legal gauntlet, Lester Coke was ordered extradited.

While languishing in prison awaiting his day in the US courts, his eldest son, Mark 'Jah T' Coke, was shot off his motorbike near the intersection of Maxfield Avenue and Spanish Town Road. Mark Coke was returning from his mother's liquor store when he met his demise. He was reportedly organising a memorial dance for his father's mentor, Claudius Massop.

The incident happened on February 2, 1992, almost two years after Lester Coke was held for extradition.

Weeks later, on the day that his son Mark was being buried, Lester Coke died in a mysterious fire inside his cell at the General Penitentiary, now called the Tower Street Adult Correctional Centre.

Mark Coke's murder triggered a vicious gang war in West Kingston, prompting then Prime Minister Michael Manley to call for dialogue with the JLP and forced a peace march by church and civic leaders through the war-torn communities.

The violence even spread to Florida where several drive-by and club shootings left dozens dead and injured.

The death of Christopher Coke's brother and father created an opening for him to step up and rule the roost in Tivoli Gardens and by extension, the Shower Posse.

On the night of May 4, 2005 Coke's younger brother, also named Christopher but who was popularly called 'Chris Royal' or 'Royal Blend', was also a victim of the gun.

Chris Royal and his crony 'Jello', angered at the killing of Tivoli Gardens elder Donovan Griffiths, also called 'Zion Train', by the security forces, left a wake for Griffiths in Tivoli Gardens with one intention - to avenge his death by taking the life of a policeman.

They succeeded in their bid as both rode up on a black motorcycle to Corporal Hewitt Chandler of the Protective Services as he waited in a marked police car at a stoplight at the intersection of West King's House and Waterloo roads in St Andrew and shot him dead.

However, they did not live much longer as members of the security forces who were early on the scene challenged them both. When the shooting ended, Chris Royal and Jello lay in pools of *la*hd beside the toppled motorbike. Their killing triggered a gun attack on the Cross Road Police Station and the murder of policeman inspector Lascelles Walsh downtown Kingston the following morning.

Now Dudus finds himself in the headlines as the US awaits a decision from the Jamaican Government for his extradition, similar to his father who took that route 17 years before him.

A senior cop who wished to remain unidentified, had a word of advice for 'Dudus'.

"I suggest he makes arrangements to hand himself over to the US authorities and waive his right to an extradition hearing. It would probably be safer for him. He should then tell all he knows and sink some of the high-ranking people who are linked to drugs and arms dealing," the cop said.

Leader of the Portmore Empire, Vybz Kartel has signed a new talent to his label, a teenaged singing sensation who hails from Christian Pen and who goes by the name Gaza Kim.

"The girl is talented and a good singer and we believe that she has a great future in dancehall. We chose this song, Teenage Pregnancy, because it reflects a common social problem we have in Jamaica with young teenage girls becoming pregnant early and the ramifications for the family unit when it happens. So this song addresses that situation and we have printed several thousand posters advocating safe sex, and with slogans like 'Stay in School' and 'Wait for the Right Time' trying to get young people to make informed decisions about sexual activity," he told one876entertainment.com.

Kartel also signed other artistes such as Sheba from Spanish Town and Merrital from Montego Bay recently.

Dancehall artiste Vybz Kartel says Queen Ifrica is a hypocrite for having a problem with his song 'Virginity'.

In a release Vybz Kartel bashed Queen Ifrica for what she said about his song in a story published earlier this week.

In the story 'Ifrica disapproves of Virginity', published in the Wednesday STAR, Queen Ifrica said: "Mi hear Kartel with a song name Virginity weh mi nuh too like. The fact that him a talk bout a likkle girl weh him tek her virginity. Him a talk bout two drop a *lo** pon her frock and madda ago beat her fi dat. Mi nuh hear no big woman weh a mek dem talk deh. Mi nuh too waan talk bout it (Kartel's song), fi promote it neither."

However, Vybz Kartel said the song is about him and a girl reminiscing about their teenage years, and not of an older man seducing an underage girl.

He further stated: "They think they are the police force of morality when they're just hypocrites. If you, Ifrica, don't like my song, so what? The fans love it. Queen Ifrica and others like her are all hypocrites and acting like they are paragons of virtue."

Kartel said in the release: "People should understand their perspective of the issue and ignore everything else, but they don't offer the same to other artistes."

He said the music he creates was not intended for other artistes to critique, as they are for his fans.

"The ladies love it bad, bad," he said.

DMX Officially Ends Feud With Ja Rule | SUPERR GREAT

New York rappers Ja Rule and DMX ended a long running feud last nightduring the 6th Annual "VH1 Hip Hop Honors" taping, which commemoratedDef Jam Records 25th anniversary.

DMX and Ja Rule stood together last night at the Brooklyn Academy ofMusic and took pictures with fellow Def Jam alumni Ludacris and FoxyBrown.

Today (September 24), DMXs manager confirmed that the picture was notjust a promotional opportunity, ending years of speculation about hisrelationship with Ja Rule.

He has a new attitude , a new team. He looks good and [now] he issquashing beefs. [And] his performances are breathtaking, DMXsmanager Nakia Walker told AllHipHop.com.

Great to see DMX and Ja Rule squash their beef after all this time,Ludacris Tweeted. Vh1 hip hop honors. A historic night indeed.

DMX and Ja Rules feud goes back to 2000, when DMX recorded the trackDo You, which took shots at Ja Rule, claiming the rapper had copiedhis signature, gruff style of rapping.

The track set off years of bickering via radio interviews and disstracks like DMXs Ruled Out and They Want War, as well as Ja Rulestrack Judas.

Both rappers were produced by Irv Gotti, who met DMX during his days as an artist on Ruffhouse Records around 1989.

A few years later, Irv Gotti befriended Ja Rule, who was a member Cash Money Clique.

After a stint as an A&R with Blunt/TVT Records, Gotti landed anA&R job with Def Jam and helped sign Jay-Z, DMX and Ja Rule to thelabel in 1998.

He's always had a [problem] with me. Since the beginning of my career,I ignored it. I felt my way of answering him was to be very successfuland that would hurt him the most, Ja Rule said of DMX in 2002.

Tension between the two rappers remained high until this week, when JaRule tweeted: "I'm not going to start trouble I'm bringing my daughterbut I promise if a n***a get outta line they won't make it out ofBrooklyn lmao."

DMX was released from an Arizona prison in April of 2009 after serving90 days for fraud, drug and animal cruelty charges and has startedrebuilding his career.

Last night, he took to the stage in a collaboration with Gym ClassHeroes for his 1999 hit single "Party Up, while Ja Rule and Ashanti asthey performed their hits "Down for You" and "Always On Time."

Other performers included KRS-One, Onyx, Rick Ross, Method Man, Redman,Warren G., The Roots, Jazzy Jeff, Erick Sermon and others.

"VH1 Hip Hop Honors" will premiere on Tuesday, October 13 at 9 PM ET/PT.

Boom Boom claims sabotage - Promoter denies wanting him to clash

Sound system selector Boom Boom. - Contributed

The 'Gaza/Gully Fans Unity Party' held at the Building (formerly Asylum) in New Kingston last Tuesday night seemed to have sparked some controversy, instead of the peace that was intended.

Alliance selector, Boom Boom, who was expected to have passed through the event, is claiming that he was "set up" to perform at the event, which he believes was billed as 'Gaza versus Gully.'

When THE STAR spoke to the selector yesterday he said he believed he had been deceived to play at an event he didn't know was to be a selector clash between himself representing the Mavado-led 'Gully' and Chris Diamond from Code Red representing the Vybz Kartel-led 'Gaza.'

When contacted however, Andrew Richards, who works with the Building, disputed all claims that Boom Boom was set up, saying the event was billed for peace between the two warring musical sides.

Boom Boom told THE STAR, "me get a call Monday around 4:30 p.m. from Andrew who book the sounds and things at 'Sylum' asking me to pass through some Gully/Gaza ting in the club." According to Boom Boom, he agreed to 'pass through' the event as Asylum has always supported him throughout his career.

While he says he wasn't told a sum in which he would be paid, he was told that he would be "getting something" for playing. He continued,"five minutes afta Andrew call me, one Uptown Mondays selector sey dem hear sey me confirm for a Gully/Gaza clash. Nobody don't confirm and call me back and me all hear ads on radio for it. Nobody don't confront my manager or Bounty Killer bout it. Dat a sumting weh plan."

pass through

For Boom Boom, he says he has no fear of selecting at a Gully/Gaza clash but, not unless he is getting paid to do so. "Mi did plan to pass through still although mi have two other dates that night. Me get a call from smaddy dere who sey di selector dem (Code Red) had portion of Gaza songs dissing me and call up my name. Bounty haffi tek di mic and talk to di people sey we neva know nutten bout dat," Boom Boom said.

Richards however, tells a different story saying, "I spoke to him (Boom Boom) and it was never promoted as a war event. It's 'Gaza/Gully Fans Unity Party' where Gaza people were to wear white and Gully wear black. We were excited about the whole event where people was just there to enjoy demselves. Even Bounty said he liked the idea and so did Kartel."

According to Richards, the event was promoted via radio stations and the Internet as a peace event and that the selectors who were to play were not promoted at all. Richards did admit that he had heard persons saying it was a 'Gully versus Gaza' event but had always set them straight on the matter.

While Boom Boom did not pass through the event, Chris Diamond from Code Red played for most of the event, which Richards says was enjoyable and tension free.

KINGSTON, Jamaica - The Bank of Jamaica (BoJ), has issued new shaped $1 and $10 coins into circulation.

Both coins, which were issued last week, bear the images of NationalHeroes, the Rt. Excellent Sir Alexander Bustamante, and the Rt.Excellent George William Gordon, respectively, on one side, and theNational Coat of Arms on the other. The original $1 coin has aheptagonal (seven-sided) shape, while the $10 has a scallop design.

Outlining the changes, Head of the BoJ's Currency Department, Mr.Norbert Bryan, told JIS News that: "What we have done is to put [thoseheptagonal and scallop] shapes within a circle. So, both coins are nowcircular, but the designs are the same...they look the same."

He informed that the original coins, which will remain in circulation along with the new versions, will be gradually withdrawn.

"They remain legal tender, so there's no need not to accept them, there's no need to bring them in. They will be used until theygradually disappear," he advised, pointing to a marginal difference inthe weights, which he described as "inconsequential.

Outlining the rationale for the changes, the BoJ Executive explainedthat the institution revamped the processing mechanism for the coins, which made the undertaking of producing the "irregularly-shaped" $1 and$10 challenging. He also highlighted the financial implications.

"If we are able to re-circulate these coins at a faster rate, then theBank will save taxpayers' money, because a coin is designed to servebetween 20 and 25 years. If you can't put back your used coins intocirculation, then you have to issue new coins, and new coins come at acost. So, it's all about efficiency and cost saving," he said.

Mr. Bryan said that no alteration would be made to any of the othercoins, which are already circular in shape, including the 10 cent, 25cent, $5.00 and $20.00 coins. The images of National Heroes, the Rt.Excellent Paul Bogle and the Rt. Excellent Norman Manley are on the 10cent and $5 coins, respectively, while the image of another NationalHero, the Rt. Excellent Marcus Garvey is on the 25 cent and $20.00coins.

Mixed reaction to Bolt honours

THERE have been mixed reactions to yesterday's announcement by PrimeMinister Bruce Golding that one of the major highways in the countrydubbed Highway 2000 is to be named in honour of track star Usain Bolt.

Speaking in Parliament, Golding said Bolt will also be given thecountry's fourth highest honour, the Order of Jamaica (OJ) andappointed Ambassador at Large with full diplomatic status.

While many have lauded the news, lecturer in Communication Studies atthe University of Technology (UTech), Martin Henry stated that some ofthe honours being bestowed on Bolt should be reserved for someone whohas delivered a lifetime of distinction.

"Bolt is 23 years old, (anything can) happen over the next 40 years ofhis life in terms of future accomplishments which he may or may nothave ..... certainly when you name outstanding things after outstandingpeople, you'll want this kind of high credibility factor to beretained," he said.

According to Henry, the highway should be named in honour of former Prime Minister PJ Patterson.

".....If anybody deserves to have their name attached to the highway itshould be the retired politician, (who's) still fit and able but has along track record of political accomplishments and who was theprincipal architect of this system," Henry said.Concerning the national award, Henry believes that the National AwardsCommittee should look at a new category to honour achievers such asBolt.

Meanwhile, it is being reported that questions have been asked aboutthe government?s authority to rename Highway 2000 as the highway isstill under the control of the French firm Bouygues and permission mayhave to be sought in order for the name to be changed.

Bouygues is part owner of the highway and has a 35-year concession on its development.

PHILADELPHIA - To get booted off the street, a police officer has to do something pretty serious - like shoot a suspect or be accused of brutality.

But in the 35th District, which covers Logan, Olney and adjacent neighborhoods, apparently a hairdo will do it.

A cop who got cornrows was ordered off the street and kept on desk duty for two days until he cut his braids off, sources said.

While dozens of black officers across the city wear cornrows, Officer Thomas Strain is white. So when the five-year veteran showed up for work Sept. 3 with the traditionally black hairstyle, it didn't take long for his colleagues - or his bosses - to notice.

"They pulled him out of roll call and took him right up to the inspector's office," said an officer who asked to remain anonymous.

Reached last week, Strain declined to comment about the hair hubbub.

But multiple officers in the 35th say it's been hot gossip, overshadowed only by worries of potential police layoffs, which were averted Thursday when the state agreed to help alleviate the city's budget woes.

Staten Islander Anthony Taylor was arrested Wednesday for traveling to Pennsylvania with the intent of having sex with a woman and her 14-month-old child.

Taylor allegedly arranged the pedophiliac tryst over the Internet in a chat room called "Start them Early."

According to local news channel CBS 3:

Investigators allege that since June, Taylor was under the impression that he was talking to a mom who was willing to include her 14-month-old daughter in numerous sex acts with him.

The criminal complaint filed against Taylor alleges that he told the undercover cop, in respect to the toddler, "I liked control... how far you want me to go with her."

On another occasion he is alleged to have written, "We can lay around in bed all day playing and having fun... all three of us... What will you two girls do for me?"

Taylor was taken into custody at a Dunkin' Donuts where he was supposed to rendezvous with the mother and child.

This family photo released by Carl Probyn on Thursday, Aug. 27, 2009, shows his

PLACERVILLE, Calif. A girl snatched on her way to school was hidden for nearly two decades behind a series of fences, sheds and tents, even giving birth to her suspected abductor's children in the suburban backyard compound less than 200 miles from her childhood home.

Jaycee Lee Dugard, who was 11 when she was abducted from a South Lake Tahoe street in 1991, was taken directly to the house and sheltered from the world in a secret, leafy backyard, investigators said Thursday.

Her abductor, investigators said, raped her and fathered two children with her, the first when Jaycee was about 14. Those girls, now 11 and 15, also were kept hidden away in the backyard compound behind the Antioch home.

"None of the children have ever been to school, they've never been to a doctor," El Dorado County Undersheriff Fred Kollar said. "They were kept in complete isolation in this compound."

Bounty Killer - File

IN everyone's persona there is always a soft side.

And while it was a difficult task to get dancehall's 'cross, angry and miserable' musical giant, Bounty Killer, talking about his softer side, it was a totally different response when THE STAR contacted the person he has always kept closest to his heart - 'Miss Ivy'.

Both Bounty Killer and his mother sat together at the luxurious Rib Cage restaurant, in Constant Spring, St Andrew, as she shared information about her son, who has remained a dominant figure in dancehall since his emergence in 1992.

Bounty Killer grew up in several tough inner city communities, where many people have fallen victims to the onslaught of strong political warfare. As with most artistes, Bounty Killer used music as a tool to escape the rigours of society.

Recalling the early years of young Killer, Miss Ivy said, "To tell the truth, he's my best boy. Never gives me any trouble. I love him. He is very responsible, he always speaks the truth and if there is anything to do around the house, he's the first to do it."

Dancehall music, a rebellious offspring of reggae, has always had a stigma attached to it. Bounty Killer, for one, has endured a lot of stigma, as he and several other artistes, during the '90s were vilified for their plethora of 'gun anthems'.

Ironically though, according to 'Miss Ivy', "I grew all my children (eight) in church. Yes man, every Sunday we are at church." Bounty Killer's mother currently attends G.W.F. Church of God, which is near Red Hills Mall in St Andrew.

he touches your heart

Even though most people would perceive Bounty Killer as a hard-core, stone-faced character, his mother, thinks otherwise.

"Rodney is always fun. He's jovial. When he smiles he touches your heart. He's very helpful and I can't say that I had any problem with him when he was young. The only real problem I had was when he and his brother (Ballie Ballie) used to sneak out to go to the studios. I thank God because I could see that he was blessed," Miss Ivy said.

Those times sneaking around at studios and street dances, especially as his father (Breezer) was a sound systems operator, started Bounty Killer's inevitable journey to stardom. But it was still a surprise to Miss Ivy, to say the least.

"He surprised me a lot, because when Rodney was writing his music he didn't tell us anything. He kept it quiet. People would normally come to me and say 'Mi jus si yuh son a Jammy's'. One day I asked him about it and he said to me that 'mommy easy mi nuh buss yet," she laughed.

Veteran deejay Shabba Ranks in 1991, saw Miss Ivy and made a bold prediction. "He said to me, 'Miss Ivy, yuh si Bounty, yow a gold mine inna im. Next year dis time is a golden son yuh ago av."

One year later, Bounty Killer famously rose to stardom with Coppershot, which was released on King Jammy's record label, by his brother Uncle T. From there, he was confirmed as the heir of dancehall music with songs like Book Book, Down In The Ghetto and Mama.

"From he entered music he never leaves mama. He will tell you that. If you have a son that takes care of his mother like Rodney does, then he's a blessed one," Miss Ivy added.
