Last time we counted down the number 10 6 songs of the summer. Now here are the top five songs that we voted on for the summer. Here goes:
5. Delilah by Mavado Now this song had all the Delilah dem and the Jezebel dem and the poor victims of the Delilah and Jezebel dem singing at the top of their lungs, She she man a wicked but woman a Delilah.ooo. Yes me dear. And even if you are not a Delilah or Jezebel you just cant help but sing along to this one. It has a really nice melody and it is really catchy and has a nice rhythm that you can rock to.
4. One by One by Laza Morgan ft. Mavado I, like many others did not know who Laza Morgan was until this song. Matter of fact I knew the song before I knew him. But nuff respect to him still. This one made every girl feel special this summer. And even after summer we are still feeling like the only girl in the world when we hear this song. I am pretty sure that any girl that this song was played to was weak in her knees. Trus me if yo deh a one party by yo self, wen dah song ya come on yo wish yo did have somebody there with you.

ROSEAU, Dominica, CMC Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit Monday said that extra judicial killings should never be supported or promoted as he denounced the manner in which the former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi was killed last week following his capture by forces loyal to the new interim government in the North African country.
Like any civilised society we will never condone the manner in which a person is killed. We will never tolerate it, irrespective of who the person is, or what the person may have done, or alleged to have done.
Extra judicial killings should never be supported or promoted by any civilised nation, Skerrit said at a news conference here.
The United Nations and international human rights groups have been
calling for an independent investigation into Gaddafis death after members of the transitional government in Libya confirmed that Gaddafi, who had been captured alive, last Thursday, had died later of his wounds.

Mary J. Blidge enlist Drake for Mr. Wrong, a single off her 10th studio album My Life II The Journey Continues (Act I), due November 21.
The familiar phrase of Art imitates life is aptly reflected in the movie world.
Caribbean films often reflect the lifestyle, unique culture and reality of the world often surrounding the main characters. I grew up with a love for movies, enjoying those that leave familiar scenes and great one liners.
I fondly remember one such movie Smile Orange. I first read the book for 7th grade drama class in high school. This play written by outstanding author Trevor Rhone was a satirical view of the tourism industry, set in the late 70s era where afros and bell bottoms were the fashion rage, witty with great comedic moments.
There have been quite a few films that made an impression. All unique with different styles and reflections of life, soundtracks filled with our vibrant reggae music. Movies are an art form, with a vast genre ranging from comedy, drama and suspense, biographies, horror, fiction and science fiction.
There have been several movies and most will remember Jimmy Cliffs famous role as Ivanhoe Ivan Martin in the movie The Harder They Come. This film transcended quite a few generations and with the same titled album from Cliff which has great hits such as Many Rivers to Cross, You can get it if you really want and Sitting here in Limbo.

It is October, almost November and we can safely say that summer is officially over. Actually it has been officially over for a while but I have just come to accept it.
Anyway, the summer is known for bringing out a lot of party songs because summer is the season to party. This is the season when college students have their long break and use this period to de-stress, forget about lectures, finals and assignments.
And what helps us to de-stress, these fun filled, carefree songs that were voiced so we can have a good time. So here is my list of the top ten hottest dancehall/reggae songs of the summer.
Please note, dancehall and reggae are not put in two different categories, it is just one list compiled with both genres. In essence, we are just counting down the top 10 songs coming out of Jamaica for the summer. Here we go:
10. Bruck it dung by Vegas This song by Vegas did not exactly get a good run at all the major parties and many people probably do not know this song but it is a really cool song that the females can get wild to. It is one of those songs that you can be at a party and hearing it for the first time and just fall in love with it right away and start bubble pon it.
9. Ready for the summer by Beenie Man This one was a little late for the summer, being released when summer was winding down, but it still got a good run, being played at major events and so on. Also mega props to the doc for showing these youngsters how to remain relevant.

In our twin island paradise crime, criminal behavior, and gang wars have been escalating over the past decade or so. Recently as a result of a series of homicides the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago has issued a state of emergency.
As of today, eight days after it was put in place nearly 1000 people have been arrested for gang related offences, criminal acts, illegal possession of fire arms, drugs and outstanding warrants.
The state of emergency have place many citizens under serious stress. Some areas of our country have been placed under curfew. On Friday 2nd September, the day after we celebrate our countrys 49th year of independence, the Prime Minister, Mrs. Kamla Persad Bessessar will extend the state of emergency further. For me personally, it affects my Academic studies and my freedom of movement, not withstanding the fact that I do not reside in areas where the curfew exist.

Mavado is being bashed for his performance ..iv not heard it once nor twice but there have been quite a few pockets of complaints about the artiste stage behaviour. In a recent report in the observer news paper about a show in Ocho Rios in St. Ann Jamaica, the reporter pointed out that the show was marred by violence in the later stages.. but no indication as to whether it was triggered by what took place on stage.. which was headlined by Alliance top guns- Mavado, Elephant man and Wayne Marshall.
The reporter did indicated in report that in Mavado's he "rarely sang the choruses of his songs. He relied on the introduction many times only to elicit crowd whistles and verbal gun salutes. "Dash weh that," he constantly told the selector indicating his need for the next track.
It took him 12 songs before he would sing a full song.
A maximum of three lines was given to each preceding song and many subsequent songs. It indicated his heavy reliance on allusion as a performance style. It's not surprising that Real Killer speaks to this very issue of defeating a rival with "no chorus"."
It was just recently that Mavado completed a stint at Studio 38 where the SingJ was commended for his performance there. His performance was described as "the epitome of brilliance"... so what happened since then as well as before that Studio 38 make belief.... come on gully god please take it to the next level. You need to put out 100% performance for the people dem ..or just dont do any cheap shows.
