A car belonging to deejay and selector Charly Blacks was reportedly stolen early yesterday morning in St Mary.
The entertainer, who made his breakthrough in the dancehall scene with Buddy Buddy, told THE STAR that he learnt his 1999 Toyota Corolla motorcar was missing close to 5 a.m. after he asked a friend to check on it for him.
Charly Blacks said he had gone to an annual Mother's Day dance in Oracabessa in the parish where he was billed to work as a selector for the Bass Odyssey sound system.
"Mi check pon di vehicle after two (after 2 a.m.) eno and minutes to five, mi send di same person fi check again and him come back and seh him nuh know how fi tell mi. Him hold down him head fi 'bout five seconds and nuh seh nutten and when mi ask him if di car missing him seh yes," Charly Blacks said before adding that a formal report was made to the Oracabessa police.
When THE STAR checked with the Oracabessa police last evening, it was confirmed that a report was submitted. The police also said investigations are ongoing but are yet to pick up any leads.
mistaken identity
Meanwhile, the Trelawny-based artiste said he feels the culprits had no idea they were stealing his vehicle.
"Di man dem weh thief it neva know seh a Charly Blacks vehicle, to how me treat people good it would a be like a suicide dem a commit if dem know seh a mine and still tek it," he said.
Asked if this would affect his career, the artiste, born Desmond Mendize, simply replied,"Mi life cyaa get nuh worse".
He continued" "Dem nuh thief mi voice and a mi voice buy di car. A mi first car to eno. My life cyaa get no worse 'cause mi been through it all already."
Charly Blacks is looking to shoot a medley video for two tracks, My Life Cyaa Get No Worse and Traitor in the next two weeks.

A source, who described herself as a 'concerned parent' and an employee of the school, said it was common knowledge at the institution that the principal was involved with students. She said teachers and other staff members of the school were trying to cover it up.
She told THE STAR of an incident in March this year, in which two female grade-11 students got into a fight, reportedly over the principal. She said the day before the fight, one girl had called the other to tell her that she was involved with the principal and would be dishing out a hearty beating the other day. It is alleged that the principal was made aware of the plans for a fight and reportedly called both girls and told them not to attend school. That warning, however, was not heeded and, as promised, there was a fight in the school library.
parental duty
The source said: "It is my duty not to turn a blind eye to this thing. Back in 2007, there was a girl who was walking and bragging about being with him as well. It was brought to his attention and all he said about it was that he would talk to her."
THE STAR was also told that on one occasion, a female student was caught in a compromising position in the principal's office during sports day. It is alleged that the child was caught "fixing her blouse" when someone walked into his office without knocking.
When THE STAR contacted the principal, he distanced himself from such practices and claims persons may put forward the allegations because he has good relationships with his students. He also claimed the allegations were new to him.
"I am a man of morals and I would never have a relationship with a student of mine. I am not the type of principal who acts as if I'm too much a superior being towards my kids so I always try to be as friendly as possible while maintaining a certain level of professionalism," he said.
He continued: "Furthermore, who is this source? I would love to know who this source is because this is news to me."
When asked about the incidents of girls fighting, he said students fight from time to time but he could not remember any recent incidents of girls fighting over a man.TO TRY a new gaming style, grab some plastic and put a chip on your shoulder.
Zi Ye and Hammad Khalid of the Human Media Lab at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, have devised a way of using a shoulder-mounted projector system to display - and play - a game on a bendy A4-sized sliver of plastic. Sensors in the screen allow gameplay to be controlled by bending, shaking or tapping it.
A prototype of the system, called Cobra, was shown last week at the Computer-Human Interaction meeting in Atlanta, Georgia. It runs games on a computer housed in a shoulder pouch, while the pouch's straps hold a small projector that shines images onto the flexible screen, held by the gamer.
The back of the screen is criss-crossed with flex-sensing wires, and other sensors note when the screen is tapped or shaken - actions which could be used to, say, swing a virtual sword or reload your trusty bazooka. These signals are sent wirelessly to the computer by a small circuit behind the screen.
Three infrared LEDS mounted on the display are tracked by a camera housed with the projector, enabling the rotation of the screen to be used in, say, driving games. "The projection follows the display automatically. A very wide range of game actions can be supported," says Ye.
The upshot, the pair say, is that Cobra provides the gaming power of a laptop while giving the gamer the freedom of a hand-held.
There is a growing interest in using projectors to enhance displays, says Shahram Izadi of Microsoft Research in Cambridge, UK. They allow programmers "to radically augment the desktop with natural, intuitive user interfaces".

Rastafarian artiste Sizzla Kalonji seems to be setting up a base in Zimbabwe, Africa, having opened a studio in the country.
In a recent article published in Zimbabwe's Sunday Mail newspaper, the singer, born Miguel Collins, told the newspaper that he is here to stay.
According to the article, Kalonji's work permit has been issued by the Zimbabwe's Department of Immigration, making him the biggest name in International music to relocate to Zimbabwe. The singjay is currently in Trinidad and Tobago performing at a number of shows.
He reportedly told The Sunday Mail that he had made up his mind to work from Africa saying, "Zimbabwe is home. I have received tremendous welcome."He added, "In Zimbabwe we have already started recording. I am also looking into areas Judgement Yard can invest in for the upliftment of Zimbabwean youths."
The newspaper reported that among Sizzla's investments are a farm he has been allocated by the Government in Chegutu, on which he plans to set up agro-industries for youths under his Jamaican social responsibility banner, Judgement Yard.
In a previous interview with THE STAR, Sizzla's publicist Olimatta Taal cleared up rumours published in an overseas newspaper which claimed that the artiste had fled from Jamaica to live in Zimbabwe because of gun and murder related charges.
The article in the overseas publication stated, "Mugabe offers Jamaican artiste farm for ZANU-PF public relations", which was published in The Zimdiaspora on Monday, claimed that Sizzla "is on the run from Jamaican authorities for gun related and robbery cases in Kingston and is preparing to set up base in Zimbabwe after he was offered a farm. Indications are that he will not be returning to his native Jamaica where he is under investigation for several violent crimes which include armed robbery and murder."
irresponsible journalism
It continued, "Zanu PF is allocating a farm to Sizzla so that the Jamaican star would do international public relations for the former ruling party whose fortunes are fast waning following its drubbing at the March 2008 harmonised elections by the Movement for Democratic Change."
However, Taal has dismissed the claims and labelled the article as irresponsible journalism. She said that Sizzla was given land for his two performances in Zimbabwe for the country's 30th independence celebration. But the land, she said, was in no way related to politics.
"The allocation of the farmland does not have any relation to any political party. Instead of giving him cash (for the performances) they gave him land. Although they want to discredit and criminalise him, it is very honourable that he would take land instead of cash," she said, noting that the land received is for the Rastafarian community.
The Sunday Mail article also claims that Kalonji is understood to have made inquiries into the local textile industry, expressing strong interest in a clothing factory that will manufacture Rastafarian and African regalia and directly create hundreds of jobs for unemployed youths. Sizzla's commercial concerns will be run along similar lines as his Jamaican enterprise, Judgement Yard in August Town, Jamaica.
According to the story, Sizzla is now in the process of importing high-tech sound equipment for a studio whose doors he has already opened in Borrowdale, in the northern outskirts of Harare. He is currently working with Zimbabwe's reggae artistes, such as Ras I and Transit Crew to put together his debut album from Zimbabwe.THE South Florida Gay News has dubbed Jamaica the Commonwealth of Hate in an article published today.
Citing various international reports, the article said that pervasive homophobia both drives and permeates the former British crown colony including the countrys popular culture, law enforcement apparatus, and much of its health care system.
That bias has for generations put at further risk some of the nations most vulnerable citizens; setting up barriers both external and internal to seeking medical care, and in the process making it extremely difficult to acquire condoms and other items that would help lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender persons combat the spread of STDs, the report said.
The report says not much has changed over the years in Jamaica regarding the countrys treatment of gays.

It is reported that the incident occurred about 4 o'clock, when men from the Umbrella Gang set fire to the house in Hardware Lane. No one was hurt in the incident. It seems the men who have broken into two bars recently in Moneague, St Ann, have developed a new mode of operation - rob and then defecate.
THE WEEKEND STAR has learnt that on at least two recent occasions thieves have broken into bars and stolen portions of liquor.
To add insult to injury, the bartenders have been greeted not only with a diminished stock, but also with a pile of faeces when they turned up for work the following day.
Checks by THE WEEKEND STAR found that word of the 'filthy' robbers have caught the ears of residents and a number of police personnel from the St Ann division.
"Yes, that's what I've been hearing ... At first I thought it was a joke, but I spoke with someone from the Moneague station last week and they said it was a true thing," a constable at the the Steer Town Police Station, also in the parish, said.
latest case
The latest case is said to have occurred last week at a popular bar in the community.
When THE WEEKEND STAR spoke to an inspector at the Moneague Police Station, he said that he was aware of two recent break-ins, but said that he did not know of the thieves subsequent filthy actions, citing he was new to the area. "I'm not saying it did not happen but I have only been here two weeks ... I know of two break-ins though," he said.
A corporal with whom THE WEEKEND STAR later spoke, however, said he too had heard of the situation although such information was not recorded in the crime diary.
"I personally did not see it but I have spoken with persons who went to the bar last week and saw it ... It's bad enough they're robbing the people but to do that to the people's property is just plain nasty," the corporal reasoned.Three illegal firearms were seized in St Catherine and St Ann and five people arrested between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
The identities of the persons arrested are being withheld pending further investigations.
About 8 a.m., a silver Smith and Wesson .38 revolver was handed over to police at Happy Mews, Alexandria, St Ann. No one was arrested.
About three hours later, a Remington shotgun and two 12 gauge cartridges were found at Wallen Lane, Portmore, St Catherine. Four persons have since been arrested.
In another incident, also in St Catherine, a man was arrested about 4:30 p.m. when he was found with a chrome Smith and Wesson pistol at Bell Heights, Gordon Pen.
Investigations are being carried out by detectives from the St Ann and St Catherine North and South Divisions, respectively.Ex-soldier claims his life is in danger
An ex-soldier is now in fear of his life as he claims a group of cops have been threatening him because of his involvement with a woman.
The 40-year-old, St Catherine man, Mr J, related his story to THE STAR and said he is doing so as a means of protecting himself.
"Mi come talk, so if unnu deh a unnu yard and hear seh mi dead, unno know a what," he said.
According to Mr J, for the last four years he has been in a relationship with a woman who has a child for one of the cops. He claims he and the man had no previous issues until last year when they had an argument.
That argument was reportedly sparked over allegations that he disciplined the cop's son.
threatened
Since then, Mr J says he has been threatened by the policeman and even claims colleagues of the cop have also got involved and issued threats too.
In September of last year, Mr J said he was forced to submit a formal report to the police's Complaints division.
Mr J claims he knows the policeman is upset because of the relationship he has with the woman and believes the argument over the child was just an excuse to spark a rift.
He further said he has had frequent run-ins with the cops who he claims are intimidating him. He said he had an encounter with one of them on Thursday night and subsequently lodged another formal complaint.
THE STAR contacted the offices of the Complaints division, and confirmed Mr J's report.
An officer from the division, who spoke on condition of anonymity, further told THE STAR that two of the cops at the centre of the reported situation are attached to the Kingston-based Flying Squad while the other is from the Major Investigations Task Force.
The officer also said investigations are ongoing and the cops have already been contacted.
As for Mr J, he says he hopes the Complaints division will do all they can before the situation takes a violent turn.

Four Chinese nationals were taken into custody yesterday as the Organised Crime Investigation Division (OCID) continues its crackdown on the lucrative counterfeit cigarette trade.
The police say a large amount of cash, counterfeit cigarettes, batteries, knapsacks and bleaching cream were seized during an operation at a premises in the upscale community of Russell Heights in St Andrew.
Head of the Constabulary Communication Network, Inspector Steve Brown, said that those in custody are to face criminal charges.
According to him, the operation which was done around 7 a.m. at Louisville Road in the community, subsequently led the police to two wholesale stores operated by the Chinese nationals in downtown Kingston. At those locations, it is said that another large quantity of counterfeit goods were found.
Yesterday's operation follows one of a similar nature last week in which the OCID raided a home on Shenstone Drive in Beverly Hills, St Andrew, and seized over $15 million in cash and counterfeit items.
Two men are currently facing the courts in connection with that incident.
CASTRIES, St Lucia, CMC The Stephenson King administration is moving to establish a programme to monitor the movement of criminal deportees who are being returned to the island from the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada.
National Security Minister Guy Mayers said that most of these individuals, having migrated from St Lucia several years ago, were being sent back to the island after serving time for crimes committed abroad.
Mayers said criminal deportees were contributing to the level of criminality here hence the decision to set up a system to monitor them.
"We must develop a system to deal with the criminal deportees who are coming back to our shores, because some of these people are well schooled in crime," Mayers said.
"In some cases even with the best intentions they come back to find that they do not have the family ties and structures in place here to support them and they inevitably end up right back into a life of crime.
"We are now discovering that the sophistication of the level of crime by these deportees present many challenges to the police," Mayers added.
He said that his ministry would be proposing a monitoring programme for deportees and made reference to the possible adoption of laws currently in place in the US which allows for convicted sex offenders to be registered and make selected information public.
The law already allows for a degree of monitoring and Mayers said Government looking into the adoption of a similar programme.
Meantime, the national security minister issued a strong caution to St. Lucian migrating to the US, Canada, and the UK to abide by the laws of those countries.
"St Lucians must understand that they have the reputation of their country to protect and reports coming out of Canada where a gang comprising mainly St Lucian youth are engaging in serious criminal activity must be of paramount concern to all, as this will have a negative impact on St Lucians seeking to go to Canada and the UK to better themselves," Mayers added.
Pastor Thomas Pearson and Sanguanetti Bryan, both accused of conspiring to export 4.5kg (10lb) of ganja to Trinidad, were remanded in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Friday.
Both are charged with possession, dealing in and taking steps to export ganja.
It is alleged that Pearson was preparing to board a flight to Trinidad when he was stopped and searched by airport security and four rectangular parcels containing compressed ganja were found strapped to his thighs.
The allegations indicated that Bryan transported Pearson to the airport and knew of the ganja being in the pastor's possession but denied the claim. Bryan was caught during a sting operation.

LONDON, (UK) British Prime Minister Gordon Brown announced today that he will resign by September a dramatic move that eases the way for his Labour Party to stay in power in a possible coalition government with the third-place Liberal Democrats.
Brown said the Labour Party, which came a distant second to the Conservatives in Thursday's national election, would begin a leadership contest to replace him while he focused on talks aimed at breaking Britain's election deadlock.
"As leader of my party I must accept that as a judgment on me," Brown said, referring to Labour's poor showing in the election.
Brown's startling news conference came as the Conservatives, who won the most seats in the election but not a majority in Parliament, were already holding talks with the Liberal Democrats. Lawmakers had said those talks stalled over differences on key issues, including reform of the voting system, a Liberal Democrat demand.
In a statement outside his office at 10 Downing Street, Brown said Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg had asked to begin formal coalition talks with the Labour Party and the two could form a centre-left alliance.
Clegg had previously said Brown's departure would likely be a condition of any deal with Labour.
"There is a progressive majority in Britain, and I believe it could be in the interests of the whole country to form a progressive coalition government," Brown said.
Cameron's centre-right Conservatives won 306 of the 650 seats in the House of Commons, 20 short of a majority. Brown's centre-left Labour won 258 and the centre-left Liberal Democrats took 57 seats. Other smaller parties took the rest.
Brown said he hoped a new Labour leader would be appointed at the party's annual convention in September. Foreign Secretary David Miliband and Education Secretary Ed Balls will likely be leading contenders to succeed Brown as party leader.

Overall the night belongs to the Gaza crew which saw Jah Vinci, Popcaan and Vybz Kartel delivering short but brilliant performances. Both Jah Vinci and Gaza's newest upcoming star Popcaan had the ladies screaming while the thugs beat "dung di walls".
After a few minutes of shine for the two all hell broke loose when the Gaza General Vybz Kartel took centre stage.
The ladies didn't hesitate to scream when Vybz Kartel echoed his new stage signature "Oooooh". Vybz Kartel sang a slew of hits before jumping into the "hotskulls" street anthem Clarks.
After a heated performance from the Gaza Crew the night's vibes even got stronger when the Arif 'Supa Coop' Cooper (Fresh Team) gang Krazy Dean, Dr. Cee and Scientist took controlled of the turn-table to continue the Fresh Fridays experience.
Officials at Egypt's Music Union have banned the gay British singer, Elton John, from performing in the Middle East.
The Communists of Saint Petersburg and Leningrad Region have demanded a ban of James Camerons movies in Russia based on a somewhat unorthodox interpretation of recent blockbuster Avatar.
It should be noted that the production of Avatar began four years ago when Obama wasnt even in office. In the recently issued statement they claim that the sci-fi blockbuster is trying to justify the Nobel Prize award given to Barack Obama, but fails in its task as no one would believe that a US marine in the film (who the Communists describe as a murderer and oppressor of Iraq, Yugoslavia, Afghanistan, Haiti and Somalia) can stand for good.
It is quite funny to watch how the activists of the national liberation movement of Pandora accept a Pentagon-made mutant instead of judging him by the laws of the revolutionary time, the communists noted.
According to the plot of Camerons blockbuster, handicapped marine Jack Sully (played by actor Sam Worthington) arrives on the remote moon of Pandora, where humans are mining valuable minerals despite the resistance of the local population of Navi. Sully arives there to take part in the Avatar program, aimed at spying on the aboriginals using genetically-engineered human-Navi bodies.
However, he ends up switching sides having seen that the locals are far from savages.
The authors of the statement were inspired by the recent interview of Russian sci-fi classic Boris Strugatsky, in which he reminded the public that the jungle covered planet called Pandora has already appeared in his novel Noon: 22nd Century, which was released in the mid 1960s.
Being ready to give all he has on the order of the White House, Cameron secretly penetrated the mysterious and romantic world of Soviet science fiction and transferred the action of his senseless propaganda film into the world of Pandora created by the Strugatsky brothers This planet was discovered and drenched with the *lo** of Soviet cosmonauts, but Cameron is, of course, silent about it.
The action of Avatar takes place in 2154, and the imaginative communists of St. Petersburg have come up with some conclusions of the way international relations developed in the universe created by Cameron till that period.
The carefully concealed nature of an aggressor, traitor and maniac quickly discerned itself in Cameron's film according to the plot, Venezuela has already been invaded, Chavez is killed, and the hordes of G.I. break out into the Solar System, burning everything in their path. Conditionally separating the films heroes from the bad ones Republicans (the head of the humans colony and the marines), and good ones Democrats, led by Jake Sully and fanatical botany professor (Sigourney Weaver), Cameron comes to the absurd taking the side on of an extraterrestrial civilization in conflict with humanity.
At the end of the statement is the demand to ban the presentation of all Camerons films in Russia until he recognizes the plagiarism and robbing of Soviet science fiction in order to create his low-grade blockbuster.
The communists assault will likely not do anything to dampen Avatars ongoing commercial success. According to box office data on January 7, it has already earned $64.2 million in cinemas around the country.
The Communists of St Pete and Leningrad Region are known for their strange statements on all important Russian and international events. The Communist party of Russian Federation does every thing to distant itself from this organization.

( l - r ) Chris Martin, Gentleman - Contributed photo
With his collaboration with German reggae star Gentleman doing well on the charts in sections of Europe, Chris Martin is now even more eager for June to arrive as that's when he leaves for Germany to shoot the accompanying video for 'To The Top'.
As of late last week, To The Top sat at number seven on the iTunes Reggae Singles Charts in Switzerland. The song is also on Gentleman's latest album, Diversity, which was released in early April.
"I am more than happy. I am very excited about the prospects of my career and not only as it relates to doing more songs with Gentleman only but also breaking new ground in Europe, tearing down walls and opening a whole new base for my music," Martin said in response to the news of the song's success.
For the final-year finance major at the University of Technology, the song's success was the accomplishment of yet another of his goals. "Well, from I was much younger, I always wanted to do a song with Gentleman," he said. Martin got his chance when Gentleman's manager, Stephan Schulmeister, visited Jamaica about three years ago. Martin met Schulmeister and expressed his desire.
perfect duo
On his next trip to the island, Schulmeister revealed to Martin that they liked his music and the tone of his voice and would love to do a song with him. Both entertainers met for the first time in March this year and according to Martin there was an immediate connection. That was when they recorded To The Top.
Now that the song is doing well, Martin believes the video will help him break through into bigger markets.
"Visuals do so much more for a song as the fans are able to put a face to the voice," said the savvy singer. "That's why I am eager and excited to go to Germany to shoot the video."
Martin said he owes all the good feelings he has about the song to Gentleman and his management for the opportunity they afforded him.
The deejay, was shot as he attempted to enter his home in Duhaney Park, St Andrew.

FIVE gruesome murders over two days have heightened fear among residents in some Spanish Town communities that gunmen are opting to butcher their victims in what the residents believe is a new trend of brutality emerging from the criminal underworld.
The residents shared this view with the Observer at the weekend after bus conductor Annil Hassock was stabbed and his throat slashed on March Pen Road last Friday.
The father of David Tete Williams, one of the four murder victims at Jones Avenue, Spanish Town, grieves after hearing the tragic news of his sons brutal killing.
The day before, while the community of Back Land, Jones Avenue slept, seven gunmen sneaked into the area where they dragged David Tete Williams, 37, and his common-law wife Sandra Wint, 45 from their house into nearby bushes, stabbed them and slashed their throats.
Afterwards, the gunmen abducted Clayton Simpson, 29, and Garnet Greg, 45, and pulled them into in the bushes where they were also stabbed and their throats slashed.
Police yesterday said they believed the two incidents could be linked.
A something new the man them a start; them nah shoot and kill again, them just a come take away the people them, stab them up and slash them throat, a family member of one of the victims in Jones Avenue told the Observer.
His view was supported by other persons in the community.
Them never want nobody hear them, and if them did use the gun it would make too much noise, said another man who was too afraid to give his name.
Other residents on March Pen Road shared similar sentiments, explaining that they were living in fear of being butchered.
Superintendent Assan Thompson, head of the St Catherine North Police Division, said the murders shared a similar, worrying pattern.
The reports of the gruesome murders are cause for concern, Thompson said, even while admitting that he was not able to make a determination that the criminals were turning to knives.
Police also said they have held two suspects for questioning in connection with the four murders on Jones Avenue.
A man was arrested yesterday after he killed his sister during a dispute between the two in Peggy Barry district, Westmoreland yesterday.
The brother, 29, is now in police custody.
Police reports are that at about 11:45 am, the siblings were at their home when a quarrel started over the ownership of a house. During the fight the brother said to be of unsound mind used a piece of stick to hit his 35-year-old sister, Annette Daley, in the head. She was taken to the Savanna-La-Mar Hospital where she died.
THE gloom on the faces of the residents of Belloc Avenue in Duhaney Park told a grim story.
The residents are neighbours of O'Neil Edwards part of the dancehall trio Voice Mail who is now in hospital battling for life.
Edwards was ambushed and shot repeatedly as he attempted to open his gate after returning home about 1:00 this morning.
Neighbours said they hoped Edwards would survive the ordeal.
"I just really hope that he makes it, trust me," said one of a group of persons who had gathered outside Edwards home this morning.
Residents say two gunmen were seen running away from the scene. Edwards was found lying on his back in a pool of *lo** in his backyard. He was shot at least seven times.

Mr Lexx
Troubled dancehall deejay, Mr Lexx was robbed of his gold chain, valued at US $4,500, on Friday in New York.
The deejay, whose real name is Christopher Palmer, said that he was robbed in a Brooklyn barber shop, where he was waiting to get a haircut.
Palmer was freed of rape charges last week; however he was required to serve three days of community service.
He will be returning to Jamaica sometime in the summer after fulfilling some previous agreements.
