Diego Maradona made stinging comments about fellow soccer greats Pele and Michel Platini on Wednesday after the pair criticized Maradona's performance as Argentina coach.
Maradona said he was not surprised by their comments and that "Pele has to go back to the museum."
As for Platini, "I always had a very distant relationship with him - hello and goodbye. We know how the French are and Platini is French and he thinks of himself as being more than the rest of the world. I've never paid him any attention and I won't do it now."
Earlier, Maradona had criticized Pele, who led Brazil to three World Cup titles, for doubting Africa's ability to organize a World Cup.
Asked about Brazil, Maradona said Argentina's fierce South American rival was not tested by North Korea in the 2-1 win on Tuesday.
"Brazil played a relaxed game, too relaxed," Maradona said. "Korea never challenged them. For (goalkeeper) Julio Cesar, it would have been the same to shower or not after the game.
"Brazil is Brazil ... and Dunga has done a good job. When more will be demanded of them, they will play better for sure."
Maradona said the general lack of scoring so far at the World Cup could be blamed partly on the teams' initial cautiousness.
"The World Cup is something redible and I'm not worried about the lack of goals. The goals will come and there are players here to make that happen," Maradona said. "Of course, in the first matches one is more careful than maybe one should be. The teams are studying their opponents, which is why there are fewer goals."
Maradona also assigned some of the blame to the much-maligned 2010 World Cup ball, saying the Jabulani was having "a large influence" on the low scores. He also asked the sport's authorities to pay more attention to the quality of the ball.

Popular deejay Bling Dawg is singing a happy tune, as he and his long time girlfriend is now expecting their first child.
Rumours had spread online since week that the deejay's girlfriend was spotted sporting a 'baby bump'. When contacted by THE STAR yesterday, Bling Dawg, who is in his 30s, confirmed that his girlfriend is now pregnant.
The deejay has been taunted in songs by former friend and deejay Vybz Kartel about not having children. In the song, When Since, Kartel deejayed, "Bling still cyaan get a pickney" and in Seh Weh Yuh Feel Fi Seh, a diss tune done for the Alliance, its managers and everyone associated with it, the artiste yet again insulted Bling Dawg.
In the song Kartel states, "Dawg gwaan pump iron wid pure ... man inna tights uppa Campion. Rememba seh yuh a 36 year old and yuh nuh have no yute ..."
In the interview Bling Dawg disclosed, "Nobody can't rush my life for me. I had to wait for the appropriate time." He explained that he is in a settled relationship with his girlfriend and deeply loves her. He added, "the fact that it is the first yute for both of us makes it even more special."
cherishes family values
According to the deejay, he grew up in a home that cherishes family values and he believes that men should only have kids when they are mature enough emotionally and financially.
"When mi yute born I will be a great daddy. Maybe if I had a child before I was mature, I probably would not be with the mother of the child now," he said.
Bling Dawg said that it is important that a child grows up with both parents. The deejay also said that because he waited, he was able to pursue his career first and now has time to spend with his child.
"I can't say that everything will go as planned but it will be more organised. I can carry my kid to school and have more time to spend at home," Bling Dawg said.
The artiste is currently busy making preparations for his show 'Bling Dawg Summer Jam', which is set for Saturday, July 10, at Somerset Falls in Portland. The show will feature performances from himself, Bounty Killer, Mavado, Busy Signal, Aidonia, Wayne Marshall, Tarrus Riley, Spice, Stacious, Munga Honourebel, Serani, Bugle, Assassin among others.

Reggae singer Lutan Fyah leaves the island today for a tour of several European countries. He says tours like these provide him with the experience which will help him become a better performer.
The singer, born Anthony Martin, leaves for Amsterdam where he is scheduled to perform in the coming days. The singer, who released his album Phantom War under the Greensleeves Records imprint in 2006, tells THE STAR that he is set to perform at the Summer Jam reggae festival on June 20. From there he has a few more shows on his schedule. However, some of the locations and dates are yet to be confirmed.
Those shows aside the singer, who once harboured thoughts of becoming an architect and who represented his high school St. Andrew Technical high at football, has several other shows lined up for the summer. In August, he says, there are a few festivals in the United Kingdom for which he expects to take the stage. He is also down to perform at Reggae Jam in Germany, on August 2, and Reggae Giel in Belgium, on August 7. However, before those, he performs in Italy on July 4.
full summer
Following those performances, he tells THE STAR, he might return to Jamaica before heading out to Canada for a reggae festival there. From Canada, he flies down to Suriname in South America for a performance on August 28.
His full summer slate, he said, is something he looks forward to. "It's always a good feeling to be on tour," he explains. "You gather new experiences and learn how to relate to audiences because you learn how to perform even better."
He reveals that reggae artistes like himself, Capleton, Luciano and Anthony B, are getting new opportunities from some of the unlikeliest of places. "People are starting to reach out to us from places like Chile, Brazil and Argentina, Slovenia, Poland and Israel," said the man who last year released a 30-track double disc album called Africa.
He also added that several countries from the African continent have also been reaching out to artistes like him. Those countries include Kenya, Gambia and Senegal. These countries he said have a love for Jamaican music.
Meanwhile, Lutan Fyah has been receiving positive responses for his new song Jail, which he said was released about two months ago and which already has an accompanying video. The song, he reveals, speaks about his wrongful arrest and subsequent exoneration after spending four days in jail back in 2007.
Gunmen believed to be from a radical Islamic group in northeast Mogadishu, Somalia, shot two people dead during an impromptu raid on a house where people were watching a World Cup match Saturday night, Reuters reports.
A witness told reporters that masked militants "stormed into the house" and open fired at the World Cup viewers, killing two instantly. The militants rounded up about 10 other fans, but left the bodies in the home, the witness said

LEIGHTON 'Livity' Coke, the brother of most wanted fugitive Christopher 'Dudus' Coke, is set to face an identification parade today despite his objections.
'Livity' yesterday refused to sign papers giving police the go ahead to place him in a line up. He is a suspect in shooting and other offenses committed in West Kingston, Police said.
Yesterday a police source said despite his objection and refusal to sign, the police are still at liberty to have him identified by a witness.
"He can refuse but that can't stop us. It can be done in an informal group setting or a direct confrontation with the witness. The witness can say yes that's the man," the source said.
'Livity' turned himself in to the police on June 1 after he was named as a person of interest. He has been in custody ever since.
A US$20,000 reward has been placed on his elder brother's head. The elder Coke is wanted by the United States authorities for gun and drugs running charge and has been in hiding since the security forces launched an offensive against armed thugs who barricaded themselves inside Tivoli Gardens.
The gunmen were attempting to prevent the security forces from arresting Christopher Coke.
The security forces invaded Fletcher's Land in downtown Kingston yesterday in search of wanted men, illegal weapons and stolen items.
An officer on the operation who refused to give his name told THE STAR that during the search, a piece of furniture was recovered which is alleged to have been an item stolen by looters during the Labour Day uprising.
A large contingent of soldiers and police were seen conducting house-to-house searches and rounding up men while others prevented residents from leaving or entering searched locations.
Soldiers were seen instructing persons to remain inside while they prevented others from entering houses during the search. One woman who claimed she wanted to take a child out of a house was told that she had to wait until they vacated the area.
The media were also barred from some of the areas and were told they had to wait until the security forces had left before they could talk to persons.
The searches covered Mark Lane, Love Lane and Church Street. Almost 40 men were picked up by the police for processing.

The former couple created The Nanny together, still work on entertainment projects, and remain "the best of friends."

"Peter and I feel so blessed to have met each other and to still have a caring, loving relationship. Love is what were all about."

It's been over two months since 23-year-old Philomoy McDonald died in his sleep, and yet, his body still lies in the morgue.
McDonald, who is originally from Trelawny, died in April while visiting his brother in Portland. An autopsy later determined that the young man died from a heart attack.
The shocking news that a man of such youth had died from a heart attack, would be only the first of the trials to face Lourine Brown, McDonald's aunt. Brown, who contacted THE STAR, said her nephew could not be buried because the family was simply unable to afford it.
Brown, whose sister is McDonald's mother, said no one in the family could afford the $130,000 needed to bury her nephew. She said she had just completed college and was in the process of finding a job. She said, "I can't take on that. Trust me. I buried his mother, my mother and my father. I just can't take that on. I went to college thinking I would get a better paying job, but I still have not."
McDonald's father, THE STAR was told, had earlier indicated that he would help to cover the cost. However, Brown said she recently got a call from him to say that he was now overseas on the farm work programme, but had not yet started to work.
Brown continued, "Everyone is looking to me, but I just don't have it. Honestly to God, mi can't do it. If I could, mi woulda bury the boy long time." She said she has fallen ill because of the stress this has caused her and also from the pressure she is facing from the funeral home.
When THE STAR contacted the owner of the funeral home, Jennifer Bennett, she confirmed that the body had indeed been at her parlour since May 4. She said she had offered a discount to the family because of their financial limitations, offering a package of $130,000 down from $170,000. This includes the cost to transport the body back to Trelawny.
She said, "You know how much storage I have had to pay? I need it to be done as soon as possible." She said she would love to have the funeral by next week, as it has been costing her greatly to store the body.
Anyone willing to help McDonald's family, may contact the funeral home, Bennett's Funeral Home, at 853-9446, or visit them at 26 North Street in KingstonA Facebook page has been created to protest Chris Brown's upcoming performance at Reggae Sumfest in the summer, but the promoters of the event are not deterred.
The page, 'Boycott Reggae Sumfest 2010 Unless They Drop Chris Brown!!!', was created last week after it was announced that the R&B singer would be on the show, which takes place in July. Almost 300 people have joined the page since its creation.
"We understand that people make mistakes and CB (Chris Brown) is probably a better person now. But during these turbulent times in Jamaica, the country needs good influences. There may be a time for CB in Jamaica, its just not right now," the creator of the webpage said about Chris Brown, who was sentenced last year to serve five years probation and to spend more than 1,400 hours in "labour-oriented service" for assaulting his former pop star girlfriend, Rihanna.
disturbing to hear
In another blog, the page creator said it was disturbing to hear that "convicted woman beater Chris Brown" has been added to the show's line up. "Sumfest should be embar****ed to have Chris Brown perform on international night; but instead, they are celebrating violence against women by having him on stage," it said.
After confirming the singer for the show, it seems no change will be coming from Chairman of Summerfest Productions, Robert Russell.
"Everybody is free to say what they want to say. Chris Brown has his fans and I am sure he has some detractors, as well," he told THE STAR, noting that he does not have a Facebook account.
"He has atoned to what he has done, so I think people should give him a chance to prove himself."
But he is not the only one with this view, as other people have made comments on the page defending Chris Brown.
"Who the hell ever started this group must be Dumb, Deaf or Inflatable. Open your ears and listen to the things our local artistes are saying and doing. If you're gonna judge Chris Brown, look at your own island first. Abuse is wrong, but abuse is abuse in any form and there is no question that our local artistes have the most abusive lyrics, without question," one man said.
Another person said, "you people are ridiculous! Boycott a show because of one artiste who already paid the price for his crime? So what about the others? Hypocritical! If you don't wanna attend, don't. No one will miss you!"
Most reporters were barred from watching Wednesday's two practice matches. Team officials said Higuain and Javier Mascherano scored in a 2-0 victory against Argentina's second side. In another match, the second-string side defeated a youth team 1-0 with Sergio Aguero scoring.
Maradona is widely expected to start the following team: Sergio Romero in goal behind defenders Gabriel Heinze, Martin Demichelis and Walter Samuel. The midfield will be Jonas Gutierrez, Angel Di Maria, Mascherano and Juan Sebastian Veron. They will be joined by the three strikers.
Heinze said it's a united Argentina camp with none of the confusion and bickering that existed during qualifying, when the mercurial Maradona used 107 players trying to find a starting 11.
"We're all really good without any problems and fired up to get on the field," said Heinze, who spoke to reporters after they were allowed 15 minutes of access at the end of training. "We've been practicing at a very good level, and you'll see it on Saturday."
Argentina is the favorite to win Group B, which also includes Greece and South Korea. Heinze cautioned against over confidence against a quick Nigerian side.
"Nigeria puts on lots of pressure, it's agressive with players who have pace," he said. "We know many of them from playing them in European clubs."
The two-time champions overwhelmed Canada 5-0 in their last friendly, a sendoff on May 24 in Buenos Aires. After that victory, Maradona promised to run naked around the famed Obelisk in downtown Buenos Aires if Argentina wins its third World Cup title.

ROBBIE Earle, a veteran of Jamaica's 1998 World Cup campaign, has been fired from his job as a pundit for British broadcaster ITV, after allegedly passing on tickets to a third party, against FIFA rules.
The "substantial number" of tickets for Monday's match between the Netherlands and Denmark, allocated to him for family and friends, were reportedly used by a Dutch beer company Bavaria NV.
Robbie Earle celebrates scoring the equaliser for Jamaica against Croatia in the Reggae Boyz's first game of the France 1998 World Cup. Croatia eventually won 3-1In that same match 36 women were ejected from the stadium for allegedly carrying out "ambush marketing" for that company. Several of the women were carrying tickets from Earle's allocation.
"a substantial number of tickets allocated to Robbie Earle for family and friends have been passed to a third party in breach of FIFA rules," said ITV in a statement. "As a result, Robbie Earles contract with ITV has been terminated with immediate effect."
The women were all wearing matching tight dresses in the Netherlands' national colour of orange and attracted significant media attention.
Under the rules of football's governing body, the tickets were forbidden to be sold on to third parties. FIFA says that it is looking into "all available legal remedies" against Bavaria NV.
Earle has established himself in football journalism following a creditable club career with Port Vale and Wimbledon in England, the country of his birth. He decided to play for Jamaica by virtue of his Jamaican parentage.
The 45-year-old made history when he scored Jamaica's first ever World Cup goal against Croatia. He played 33 times for Jamaica between 1997 and 2000, scoring eight times.
Thugs from communities known to maintain links with Tivoli Gardens are now complaining that too much unwanted attention is being placed on them.
It is speculated that a number of gunmen managed to escape and have sought refuge in other nearby communities while the security forces pounded west Kingston on Labour Day.
Over the past two weeks, at least 25 alleged gang leaders and members have turned themselves in after the police released their names and urged them to do so.
Some of these communities are known to have strong links with west Kingston and even had an upsurge in violence while the security forces moved into Tivoli Gardens.
Featured on the lists were men from east and central Kingston, St Catherine and St Andrew.
When THE STAR visited one such community in central Kingston, a group of men were quick to point out that they were quite uncomfortable with the welcoming of their west Kingston counterparts.
"Wi know seh a reasons why dem deh yah still but mi naw lie nuff a wi nuh too comfortable cause wi know a just a matter of time until di police and soldier dem run in pon wi to and seh a man from west Kingston dem a look fah," one thug reasoned.
massive offensive
Those around him made similar comments and even went on to add that men from west Kingston have the perception that they were 'untouchable' and can do anything they want, this the men say can make matters worse.
They used the reports of an attack on a police station in the community one day before the security forces launched a massive offensive in Tivoli Gardens and its environs as an example.
little edgy
"Yu have some a dem feel like dem untouchable eno and dem bad up demself anyweh dem go, but none a dem naw go diss mi and get weh eno mi promise dat ... A dem come ya come shot up di station eno and a man round ya ago get bad name fi it now," another thug explained.
Over in an east Kingston community, thugs there also admitted to being a little edgy.
"No man naw openly show how dem really feel eno, but if you and a man reason one away him ago show yu di vibes," one man told THE STAR.
Another said, "Wi and dem link of course and wi understand di situation to but wi affi memba seh a same way di police and soldier probably ago waa run in pon wi and do di same ting wah dem do a Tivoli ..."
Meanwhile, the police say they are indeed aware that gunmen from west Kingston have been seeking safe havens in other communities all over the island.
When THE STAR contacted Head of CIB, Assistant Commissioner Les Green, he said the police are appealing to law abiding residents of such communities to assist by passing on information if they see strange faces.
"Yea we have picked up on the situation and we know they are all over the place. We picked up some in Matthews Lane the other day and our operations are ongoing," he said. "We are appealing to persons to contact the police if they see strange faces in their communities..This can help to limit certain risks and so it is very important to us."A large contingent of police and soldiers are now conducting a major operation in the West Kingston community of Fletchers Land.
Head of the Criminal Investigation Bureau Assistant Commissioner Les Green, told the Observer that the security forces will be maintaining a constant presence in the community which is known to have links to the former stronghold of Tivoli Gardens.
"We will be maintaining a presence as we have done on the other operation. We know that a lot of people ran away from Tivoli into Fletchers land," Green told the Observer.
On May 24 police and soldiers launched a major offensive on gunmen who had barricaded themselves inside Tivoli Gardens and took up arms in defense of most wanted fugitive, Christopher 'Dudus' Coke.
The police were met with stiff resistance when they attempted to enter the area to serve an arrest warrant on Coke. The security forces managed to repel the resistance and have occupied the embattled community since.
The security forces have also staged curfews in other sections of West Kingston and South St Andrew as they move to dismantle garrison and break the stranglehold that criminals have on the nationPopular local singer Aisha Davis is now before the court after she was accused of beating up a co-tenant at her house.
Davis appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday after she was charged with unlawful wounding.
Her attorney entered a not guilty plea when her client appeared before Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey.
The complainant told the court that she and Davis are co-tenants and share a kitchen together at their home. She informed the court that she was assaulted after she had a disagreement over the usage of kitchen utensils and the division of kitchen space.
The complainant further told the court that Davis often spoke in a condecending manner, as if she is a child. She alleged that on the day in question, Davis attacked her and knocked her partially unconscious.
The complainant said that she was also dragged along the ground, pinned to the ground and repeatedly punched in the face while she was on the ground.
The complainant said she was later rescued by her boyfriend who was elsewhere in the house, but came to her aid after he heard the uproar. She said when she regained full consciousness, her boyfriend told her that he had to remove a knife from her attacker's grasp.
The Grants Pen police are said to have been called to the location.
When the matter appeared in court yesterday, the complainant's medical was not yet available so the matter was postponed.
Davis had her bail extended and is to return to court on July 8. She also had to have her fingerprints taken by the police.
Davis was a member of the Ashe Performing Arts Ensemble, however, she is better known for her collaboration hit with Anthony B in 2003, Someone Loves You Honey. She also has a current single with Aidonia called My Heart is Hers.
Soldiers stand outside a house on Kirkland Avenue during their operation yesterday.
Members of the security forces yesterday carried out another operation in the St Andrew community of Kirkland Heights.
Two houses along Kirkland Avenue were reportedly searched as the hunt for west Kingston fugitive Christopher 'Dudus' Coke continues. Sources say nothing of interest was found at the homes.
The operation took place near the house in which Keith Clarke, businessman and brother of former government minister Claude Clarke, was killed during one such operation on May 27.
The police also conducted another operation three days later during which several persons were taken into custody. Two of the men who were taken in are said to be very close associates of Dudus.
Clarke was laid to rest last Thursday and the circumstances surrounding his death has led to a high-level probe.
Speaking at the launching ceremony at the University of the West Indies (UWI) Mona Lions Centre for Students with Special Needs at the Mona Campus last Thursday, Fuller said the initiative is to ensure that the visually impaired have the help that they need to obliterate the misery that might otherwise have been associated with their condition.
"This spirit of seeing to the needs of others is one that is to be encouraged and practised across the length and breadth of Jamaica," he said.
The initiative, which seeks to raise money for the Jamaica Society for the Blind, is a partnership involving the National Health Fund, UWI, and Jamaica National Building Society, among others. It will focus on selling paraphernalia such as armbands, key rings and whistles to members of the public, particularly through schools.
Coordinator/Head of the Centre for disability Studies, Floyd Morris, said that the initiative is part of the UWI's response to the needs of various disability groups, through a range of projects.
'This spirit of seeing to the needs of others is one that is to be encouraged and practised across the lenghth and breath of JamaicaDuring a recent trip to the area, residents told tales of what they have been through the last few weeks but afterwards spoke of the actions of some of the women while describing it as shocking, but understandable.
"A di same man dem weh dem did a seh a bomb dem up eno ...Yes mi dear, dem woman yah nuh easy, dem dung yah all a pop big fight ova di soldier dem now," one resident, who claimed to have witnessed one of the recent encounters, said.
THE STAR heard there were at least two fights in the last two weeks but nobody has been seriously injured.
In the last incident, one female reportedly got jealous after seeing an 'enemy' of hers sitting and chatting with a soldier.
There was reportedly a subsequent altercation and both women argued openly as to who the soldier wanted, and even threw blows at each other. The soldier over who they were fighting reportedly had to step in to quell the fracas.
While in the company of a group of at least six women, THE STAR was told that those who have resorted to having relations with members of the security forces have done so because their lovers are gangsters who have fled the community, leaving them behind.
"Yuh a laugh like a joke thing, mi have fren weh deh wid soldier and mi ask har how she do it and she seh har man gone and she need har fix up," another resident claimed, as those around her began laughing at her subsequent comments.
"Bway, to some extent yu can't even wrong dem because a pure woman deh a west Kingston now, most a di man dem run weh and dem probably naw come back, suh di woman dem affi fight fi wah dem want," she continued.
When contacted by THE STAR, senior members of the security forces said that they were unaware of such reports. However, a STAR reporter who pretended to be a resident was told over the weekend by a soldier that he was aware of such acts.
The soldier even requested that he be given a 'link' to a girl.
"Bway, a nuff sexy gyal deh bout ya eeh hothead. Buss mi pon a link nuh? Yu look like a gallis," he said during a short conversation.
On Labour Day, the security forces launched a massive offensive on the community and are still carrying out operations there.

Raine Seville and Wasp take some timeout from shooting to pose for our lens.

On Sunday, Daseca's first lady Raine Seville and Wasp shot the video for their lyrically conscious single entitled Nutten Nah Gwaan. The video was shot at four different locations across the Corporate Area: Park Lane off Red Hills Road; UWI, Mona; DASECA studio as well as a house in Upper St Andrew.
Raine played the uptown rich girl whose family was devastatingly hit by the recession; Wasp was the poor ghetto boy who struggled to get by daily. According to Seville, "I'm very happy about the video because I think it should bring out the point that we are trying to bring out in the song, which is that everybody reaches some point in their lives when Nutten nah gwaan fi dem. It shows both sides of the story, so everyone should be able to relate."
Styled by Georgette Smith, the video was directed by Janelle Dyer, formerly of Scorpio 21. In the words of Dyer, "Quite a number of these uplifting songs are out now, and I didn't want the typical video to be showing poverty. As a matter of fact, I didn't want them to be seen together at all. I just wanted to show the hardships of poverty in both worlds. So, basically, it was a day in the life of each; a rich girl and a poor boy from the inner city." She added that people can expect something different because, "although it is a collab, not a single scene was shot with both of them together."
Cameos will also be made by Tami Chyn,Wayne Marshall, D'Angel and Zj Liquid.
Two West Kingston-based labels, Liv Up Records and Yardlife Records, will release the 'Grind' rhythm as a tribute to those who lost their lives during the unrest in the Corporate Area and St Catherine last month.
The rhythm was created earlier this year by both labels and is scheduled for release this week. However, it will not be available for downloads until next month.
Speaking with THE STAR yesterday, producer Oneil 'Coco' Coke from Liv Up Records, said, "it is a tribute to the people weh lose dem life during the unrest, not just people from Tivoli."
He said it was only appropriate to use this song as a tribute to the deceased and those mourning.
"Some of the songs kinda speak to that. It a relate to this whole thing that has happened. The loss of one life is too much, so just imagine so many," he told THE STAR.
"And being that our music originate from west Kingston and a desso wi come from, we see it fit to offer it as a tribute."
He said the medley video for the rhythm will be ready by next week and will show clips of what took place during the unrest.
"It is not a high-budget video, but something to complement the nice songs from the rhythm," Coke said.
Unlike previous rhythms, Coke said 'Grind' does not have many songs on it. There is Delus' Unruly, Munga's Gone So Soon, Angele Smith's Come Over Now, Kiprich's Maama Man and Fyakin's In These Streets.
"We only did five songs 'cause we have 'Money Tree' rhythm wi have dis bag of songs, so wi did a pree a much smaller catalogue and wi did a pree some artistes weh wi nuh really work with," he told THE STAR.
However, Coke said there is a possibility that about two more tracks will be put on the rhythm.
In the meantime, Coke said he is yet to return to the studio for work, as the vibe is different and people are still mourning.
JOHANNESBURG, South Africa (AFP) North Korean coach Kim Jong-Hun said yesterday he is plotting one of the biggest shocks in World Cup history when his side take on five-time champions Brazil in their opener.
The reclusive North Koreans are the overwhelming underdogs heading into today's clash with the South American giants in Johannesburg, but Kim is unfazed by the enormity of the task in the "Group of Death".
"Our Group G opponents are very strong," the 53-year-old told FIFA's website. The other two sides in the group are Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal and Didier Drogba's Ivory Coast.
"But in football, the best teams don't necessarily win. We will give it our best. We know we need to win to reach the knockout phase, so no matter who we're up against, we'll target the three points."
The North Koreans, ranked 105 in the world, are no stranger to shock wins, causing a colossal upset in their only previous World Cup in 1966 when they shocked mighty Italy 1-0 to reach the quarter-finals in England.
The "Chollima" are renowned for their solid defence but Kim said the team can also be a threat going forward.
"Our rivals are expecting to see us focus on defence because we actually played quite defensively during qualification," he said.
"But our game is not all about playing cautiously -- we can also play good attacking football when we need to."
The spearhead of North Korea's attack is Jong Tae-Se, who plays in Japan's J-League. Jong scored twice in a recent 2-2 draw with Greece and also netted during a 1-3 loss to Nigeria in the run-up to the South African showpiece.
But Kim hopes the focus on Jong will allow others to get into goalscoring positions in the match against top-ranked Brazil at Ellis Park.
"Brazil are indeed a stronger team than us, but we can use our tactics to counter them," said captain Hong Yong-Jo, who finished as his side's joint leading marksman in qualifying.
"You never know what will happen until the match is over. I have set a personal goal for myself, which is to motivate my team-mates and help my country reach the last 16," said Hong.
Kim also has the option to summon Choe Kum-Chol from the bench. He has been compared to the legendary Pak Doo-Ik, who netted that famous goal against Italy 44 years ago.
"When people compare me with our legend I can only smile," said Choe. "But we know we can all become legends in this World Cup, and this is our dream."
FACED with the threat of a law suit former Prime Minster Edward Seaga has apologised to Joseph Matalon, President of the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica, (PSOJ).
Matalon threatened to sue Seaga following radio and television interviews in which he criticised Matalon for a statement he made that loss of profits was 'a small price to pay for the disturbances' in Tivoli Gardens which caused 76 deaths.
In a statement to the media, Seaga said he met with Matalon and was convinced that he misunderstood and misrepresented the statement.
"My statement was made innocently made and without malice in reaction to the media coverage of this matter of great public interest which helped create the misunderstanding and misrepresentation of Mr Joseph Matalon's statement which greatly distressed me. I regret any embar****ment, trauma or inconvenience caused by my remarks and unhesitatingly retract them," he said.
Damian 'Jr Gong' Marley has usurped deejays Matisyahu and Vybz Kartel to become third most popular deejay online, following the May release of his charting album.
Marley's search volume has been steadily climbing since 2010 which allowed him to beat Kartel in April and Matisyahu in May, according to data from US-based search engine Google analysed by the Observer. It indicates that more persons world-wide are searching for news and music from Marley--the son of reggae legend Bob Marley.
He was expected to receive a boost in Internet searches following his album release; in fact during the week of its release Marley actually beat Shaggy for a short time. Marley however still towers over Matisyahu so far, but may fade as his album ages. Last week, Distant Relatives, the joint album by rapper Nas and Marley out-charted the Rolling Stones to debut at five on the Billboard 200 album chart whilst also topping the Hip Hop and Reggae album charts.
During May, every 100 searches for Damian Marley saw a corresponding 54 searches for Matisyahu and 30 searches for Kartel; Marley however is far below the search activity of Sean Paul and Shaggy at 208 and 114 respectively. Contextually, trend data over a 12 month period shows that Kartel and Marley are statistically tied with Matisyahu receiving 50 per cent more hits than either artiste.
Google Trends analyses a portion of Google web searches to compute the quantity of searches for terms relative to the total number of searches done on Google over time. Online search volume has significance as it reflects, in part, the fluctuations in online popularity of an artiste. The most popular Jamaican entertainers have the most online traffic -- these are Bob Marley, Sean Paul and Shaggy.
Over time online traffic can gauge the popularity of artistes. For instance, Mavado in 2008 was more searched for than rival deejay Vybz Kartel, reflecting the rise of the Gully God. Since 2009, however, Kartel has usurped Mavado, reflecting a barrage of singles, strong performances and a slew of controversial publicity stunts.
An artiste's online traffic usually jumps leading up to an album launch but also is affected by the release of news.
Artiste Buju Banton online presence spiked following his December 10 arrest in Florida, which also led him to re-chart on Billboard's Reggae Albums. Banton became the second most searched for Jamaican artiste, following Bob Marley, but prior to his arrest, Banton was less searched for than many of his peers. His trend data from Google had risen so fast that between December 13 to 18 he was twice as popular as Shaggy, four times more popular than Vybz Kartel and six times more popular than Sizzla and Mavado. By New Year's Eve, Banton's presence had waned.
Banton, born Mark Myrie, along with Ian Thomas, also called 'Yush' and Jason Mack, was held December 10 by Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agents and charged with conspiracy and intent to distribute at least five kilogrammes of cocaine.

A man accused of severely biting his daughter's finger after she disapproved of his actions towards her son appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Friday to answer to a wounding charge.
The court was informed that the accused, Courtney James, bit his daughter on her left ring finger resulting in a wound which bled. The complainant told Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey that the incident occurred after she expressed disapproval at the manner in which her father was 'handling' her four-year-old son.
James pleaded guilty to the charge of unlawful wounding.
The court also heard that earlier when James apparently resented his daughter's disapproval of his actions, she was attacked from behind and her neck squeezed with both hands. Her brother came to her assistance and rescued her from her father's attack.
She was later attacked again and her finger bitten. James was fined $6,000.After an unsuccessful attempt at killing a slave trader, Mansong was captured, jailed, and sentenced to death.
But on the night before his execution he escaped and kidnapped the slave trader and held him captive in a cave in the hills of St Thomas.
Mansong was killed by the Maroon leader named Quashie who tracked him down and shot him.
Three Finger Jack was the first wanted man in Jamaica and since his death over 200 years ago, hundreds of criminals have made Jamaica's most wanted list.
It was not so easy to define who the most infamous of the criminals were.
Deputy Superintendent Delroy Hewitt, head of operations at the Kingston West police division, who has over 30 years of policing experience, posited that the most dangerous man to have ever made the police wanted list was 'Copper'.
The National Intelligence Bureau chief Albert Edwards agrees, saying Copper would be his best bet.
Dennis 'Copper' Barth was the leader of the East Kingston-based 'Hot Steppers' gang which staged a number of successful bank robberies in the latter half of the 1970s.
Police say Copper was a cold-*lo**ed killer who mastered the art of disguise.
He was shot and injured by police during a shoot-out in West Kingston. Several rounds of ammunition were taken from him but Copper managed to escape custody soon after.
In May 1978, Copper was killed by police after he and his cronies failed in their bid to rob the Caymanas Park race track in St Catherine. A $5,000 bounty was on his head at the time of his death.
According to Hewitt, Copper was not afraid to challenge the police in a shoot-out.
"I was a young policeman at the time. Copper always took on the police. There were many clashes. I was among the police patrol that captured him in Tivoli Gardens," Hewitt said.
More than a decade after Copper's demise, Wayne 'Sandokan' Smith, became public enemy number one after he masterminded and executed a brazen evening attack on the Olympic Gardens police station.
Three policemen were shot and killed during the attack and weapons and ammunition were stolen from the station armoury.
The incident caused national concern and police and soldiers launched a manhunt for Smith in Waterhouse, Tower Hill and other areas of Kingston where the gangster was believed to frequent.
Despite constant curfews and raids to nab the cop killer, police never got their hands on Sandokan as he was cut down by gunmen in Tower Hill in 1989.
The same year Sandokan was killed, another dangerous criminal arose from the criminal underworld. His name was Nathaniel 'Natty' Morgan, the leader of a ruthless gang which used as its base the Riverton City dump.
Morgan was wanted by cops for murder, shooting with intent, car-jacking and other crimes.
Police say Morgan and his gang invaded a wake in Seaview Gardens which was being held for one of his victims and executed at least six men who were in attendance.
The gangster escaped from the gun court in 1990 and remained at large until he was cut down in a hail of police bullets after the cops had cornered the gang in Lakes Pen, St Catherine, eight months after.
According to head of crime in the South St Andrew police division, Deputy Superintendent Oswald Eyre, Sandokan and Natty Morgan were two of the most dangerous criminals.
"These gunmen nowadays are community criminals who sneak up on innocent people, but Sandokan and Natty Morgan were national criminals who went all over the island and robbed and killed. Many times they managed to escape police dragnets," Eyre said.
Deputy Superintendent Hugh Bish of the Denham Town Police agrees with his colleagues that Copper, Sandokan and Natty Morgan were three of the most dangerous criminals in Jamaican history.
"There is a long chronicle of dangerous wanted men over the years and it would be really hard to say which one was the most infamous. There was Copper, Sandokan, Natty Morgan and Joel Andem. But the list is long, as some dangerous criminals have been produced by this country," Bish said.
Joel Andem had been at the top of the most wanted list for four years before he was captured in the rustic district of Clarksonville.
Andem has been charged with two murders, conspiracy to murder, 10 counts of shooting with intent, 12 counts of illegal possession of a firearm, kidnapping and robbery with aggravation.
Even though the names of Copper, Natty Morgan, Sandokan and more recently Joel Andem are easily recalled by seasoned cops, the list of dangerous criminals is long.
Anthony 'Starkey' Tingle was the most wanted man in 1980 and 1981. Tingle was the leader of an Arnett Gardens-based gang and was killed in a house in Jones Town during an alleged gun battle with police in 1981.
Conrad Levy, better known as the 'Phantom Killer', was suspected of killing close to a dozen people in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
He acted alone and dressed in women's dresses and wigs before stalking and killing bad men and others who were terrorising his east Kingston community.
He was caught by the police in 1991 and was sentenced to death, had his sentence reduced to life, but escaped prison 11 years after.
Levy was killed on Christmas morning 2002 during a shoot-out with members of the now defunct Crime Management Unit, which was led by Senior Superintendent Reneto Adams.
Winston McCarty, also called 'John Crow" whose stomping ground was the hills of west rural St Andrew, was the leader of the John Crow gang who the police had blamed for a number of murders, shootings and robberies.
John Crow was killed by police after he was seen firing a gun salute at a dance along the Essex Hall main road in St Andrew in 1996.
He was challenged by a member of a police party who were travelling in an unmarked Toyota Hiace minibus and lost the ensuing gunfight. A Glock 19 pistol was taken from his body, police say.
The Kingdom of Cambodia lies in Southeast Asia, cramped between Thailand to the west and Vietnam to the East. Within its confines are countless jungles that house ancient temples and villages long abandoned, save for the occasional band of hungry macaque monkeys hunting for grub.
Among these monkeys was Rochom, a half animal girl who in January 2007 stumbled into a Cambodianvillage in Rattanakiri province naked and hunched over like a macaque. Her conspicuous activities, like scavenging for food like a lost puppy, soon caught the attention of local villagers like Sal Lou, a local police officer who came forward to claim her as his daughter after identifying a scar on her face.
