Dancehall artiste Konshens and his fast rising prodigy Darrio are currently on an extensive tour of Europe spanning seven countries and 17 cities backed by J.FLO (Upliftment Intl).
The tour which commenced on June 18, and will last for a month, was off to a great start with two sold-out shows in Munich and Hannover.
Konshens had people singing, dancing and waving hands, lighters and flags as he bellowed international hits such as Winner which once again hit close to the heart in the current world cup fever, Good Girl Gone Bad, the witty and emotional Realest Song among others.
monster hit
According to a release, new kid on the block Darrio was also received with open arms as he joined Konshens on stage for the monster hit Do Di Ting on the Go Go Club rhythm as well as Eat Food on the Bomb Drop rhythm. The artistes are currently in Leipzig, Germany for dub sessions and interviews.
Konshens will be back in Jamaica just in time for Reggae Sumfest where he plans to deliver a heart-warming performance dedicated to the life and memory of fallen friend Oneil Edwards from Voicemail. He is also set to perform at ATI and a few other shows before leaving for Japan where his song Out of the Ghetto is currently topping charts.
David Villa had a busy game yesterday. When he wasn't savaging Honduras with goals of absolutely merciless brilliance, he was attacking them in other ways for instance, by covertly slap-punching defender Emilio Izaguirre in the build-up to a free kick at the end of the first half. As you'll see in the video above, which someone has thoughtfully set to the opening strains of "Hey There Delilah," an aggrieved-looking Villa thwacks Izaguirre with a kind of backhanded cuff, like a bear mother disciplining her cub.
Villa said after the match that he wasn't proud of hitting Izaguirre, but that he'd done it instinctively after Izaguirre stepped on his foot. The referee, Yuichi Nishimura, didn't notice, but FIFA aren't ruling out suspending Villa once they read Nishimura's post-match report. I should probably say something about justice and the integrity of the game, but I accidentally started watching this goal again, and now I just want to tell Nishimura to be cool. Be cool, Nishimura!
"Oneil was one who maintained a positive image, an artiste that made music enjoyable to audiences of all ages. The industry has definitely lost a good soul," said Nordia Witter about slain Voicemail member Oneil Edwards.
Touched by the death of her colleague, singer Nordia Witter is offering free downloads of her album track, Hourglass. The news of the slain entertainer has truly disturbed Witter.
Initially, the ideas behind the lyrics of Hourglass were inspired by the passing of her brother that suffered a similar fate at the age of 24, which has given her an insight into the agony it brings.
Witter hopes that the song will console and remind his relatives of the robust support and love that exist within his industry family. Witter also wants to honour Edwards and raise awareness of the anguish that violence can build.
Dale Virgo, who also co-wrote with Dahlia Ashley and Nordia Witter, produced the track.
The free stream of Hourglass is available on Witter's website www.nordiawittermusic.com, where fans can also access her blog to post their own thoughts.
After their physical altercation following the funeral of dancehall artiste Oneil Edwards recently, LA Lewis has released a song hurling insults at Beenie Man.
The song, Rush Mi, surfaced on the Internet late last week. In it LA Lewis sings on the same rhythm as Drake's Find Your Love. It also copies the melody of the R&B song, with Drake's voice being heard at intervals.
In the song, LA Lewis says, "Dem seh dem a Moses but dem a Antichrist/ Dem too Bruce Goldious/ Dem too lie and wicked/ Di ole dog and him fren dem rush mi/ Dem neva know a Father God a protect mi/ See dem all bring dem gun fi shot mi."
The song goes on to explain what LA Lewis claimed happened on the day of the incident.
When THE STAR contacted the self-proclaimed seven-star general, he said his decision to do a song about the incident was triggered by threats he received.
"Mi just do the song fi mek people know how the whole story guh. Yuh have some likkle people a call an' a try intimidate mi but mi just a show dem seh mi nuh fraid of intimidation. Him (Beenie Man) either haffi ansa back but it is in the streets right ya now," he said.
He said he also did the song to show that he actually does songs. "Mi nuh get no help fi write da song deh. It was so easy to write," he told THE STAR.
This comes after the two artistes were involved in a squabble after Edwards' funeral. Reports are that both deejays were leaving the funeral when the vehicle Lewis was driving hit the back of the Audi SUV, driven by Beenie Man. It is alleged that an argument developed between the two, during which Lewis was punched in the face.
Later, Beenie Man and selector Rolexx, who LA Lewis claimed was also involved in the incident, were both charged with assault occasioning bodily harm, after Lewis made a report to the Duhaney Park Police Station.
Beenie Man was still able to leave the island for a 22-show European tour, after being granted $100,000 station bail. However, he will break the tour to attend court.
Meanwhile, some of the more than 800 persons who listened to the song on YouTube were far from pleased with its quality and even questioned its relevance.
"Me jus a wonda how me siddung and waste mi 1:38 minutes. Da man yah a fool," one viewer said.
Another said, "Jah know if mi did have one wish and mi affi choose either fi end world war or get back mi 2:41 minutes weh mi just waste a listen to da bredda ya, mi woulda wish back fi mi minutes de

The video is being shot for the yet-to-be-released song, Find Your Love and is being directed by one of the top commercial and music video directors in the United States, Anthony Mandler.
Mandler has shot mainstream videos including Rihanna's Russian Roulette, John Mayer's Who Says, Jay-Z's Run This Town, and for the likes of Mary J. Blige, John Legend, T.I. and Beyoncé.
The video and its production is being kept tightly under wraps from foreign and local media. However, a source close to the production revealed that the video was a three-day shoot being filmed throughout Kingston, starting yesterday and ending on Wednesday.

Mavado - File
Mavado will be doing his filming today and tomorrow. Drake arrived in the island yesterday and started filming by Sandy Beach in Port Royal.
When THE STAR visited the set yesterday, Drake and crew had taken over the beach and was filming on the hillside, alongside bikini-clad females, overlooking the sea.
According to persons working on the shoot, a bonfire was to be set up on the beach in the night for further filming and later the crew was set to move to Cassava Piece for more scenes.
The source said, "Mavado has a major role in the video. He and Drake are good friends and when Drake came here the last time he saw some scenes he wanted to have in his next video and thought that Mavado fit the role well." According to the source, on Drake's last visit here, he had also recorded some material and he and Mavado are expected to do work together in the future.
first studio album
Drake is a popular Canadian actor and recording artist, who burst unto the scene in 2009 and having already worked with acts such as Lil' Wayne, Birdman, Kanye West, Eminem, and Jay-Z. The rapper is known for songs Best I Ever Had and Say Something with Timbaland. He is expected to release his first studio album Thank Me Later sometime this year.
When contacted, Mavado's manager Julian Jones-Griffith was tight-lipped about the video. Jones-Griffith told THE STAR however, that the singjay had debuted his latest single 9 Life on New York's Hot 97 on Sunday night. The song is produced by Stephen 'Di Genius' McGregor and will be officially released on iTunes shortly.
According to Jones-Griffith, the song was recorded the day after Mavado was involved in a bike accident last week. The artiste suffered cuts and bruises after colliding into a car in the Manor Park area.
Jones-Griffith said, "He (Mavado) has a lot of music working on. We're doing some work with a big European producer, Alliance is changing up the game and setting the trends, taking it to a new dimension. We also have another big song coming out soon with Stephen, a cross-over love song called For You."
Turns out he lost all that weight for a movie where he plays a cancer patient....phew!!!!

Fishermen from the fishing village located on Port Henderson Road in Portmore with the head of the 300lb jewfish which was caught on Friday. - Ricardo Makyn
André Hall is the smallest fisherman at the Port Henderson fishing village in Portmore, St Catherine. But, on Friday, he made the largest catch on the beach when he snared a behemoth.
The fish, a jewfish or Atlantic Goliath Grouper, is known to reach extremely large sizes and can weigh up to 800lb. They average about 400lb when they mature and are found in tropical waters across most of the Caribbean. They are said to prey on crabs and other shelled creatures and reach lengths of at least eight feet.
The one which Hall caught is up there in terms of size and weight.
"Three hundred pounds it weigh, boss," said Hall. "A di biggest one mi ever see pon di beach fi di all the years mi out yah," Hall said.
When the Star visited the beach, a number of persons were observed cutting up the monstrous fish. There was also brisk sales on the spot at $250 per pound.
"Come buy the fish as it fresh. It very fleshy and you can't lose; nuh lef di deal," a man shouted, while chopping the fish.
shark
Hall, 25, told The Star that when he saw the large fish he thought it was a shark.
"When mi see it, mi think a shark. But when mi realise that a Jewfish, mi start shoot it," Hall said.
The consensus was that this was the biggest catch and largest on the beach, in recent memory.
"A 20 years mi de bout ya a catch and neva si nutten so big yet," a senior fisherman said.
Hall's colleagues believe that he and his associates have received an extremely early Christmas present. The animated sequel about toys that come to life leaped to the No. 1 spot with a $109 million opening weekend, according to studio estimates yesterday.
Toy Story 3 became the third animated film to top US$100 million in the first weekend, joining Shrek the Third at US$121.6 million and Shrek 2 at US$108 million.
It was by far the best debut for a film from Disney's Pixar Animation, topping The Incredibles at US$70.5 million.
Reuniting voice stars Tom Hanks and Tim Allen, the movie has Woody the cowboy, Buzz Lightyear and their toy pals facing their mortality, worried they will end up on the scrap heap now that their kid has grown up.
"Whether you're a kid or a parent, you always come to a fork in the road where you make the decision of what to do about your toys. Therein lies the appeal of the movie," said Chuck Viane, head of distribution for Disney.
That, and the fact that Woody, Buzz and the gang have become like family to Toy Story fans, he said. "Somehow these characters have worked their way in. When you go there, you can see the audience is vested in the movie from the start. It doesn't take any time to warm up. The minute it hits the screen, they're in," Viane said.
Toy Story 3 took over the No. 1 spot from Sony's The Karate Kid, which pulled in US$29 million to raise its 10-day total to US$106.3 million.
The weekend's other new wide release, the Warner Bros. action tale Jonah Hex, bombed with just US$5.1 million. Adapted from the comic book series, Jonah Hex stars Josh Brolin as a disfigured 19th-century bounty hunter tracking a villain who aims to unleash a doomsday weapon.
Toy Story 3 took in an additional US$44.8 million overseas, giving it a world-wide total of US$153.8 million. The movie has opened in such countries as Mexico, Argentina and China but will not debut in most major foreign markets until July and August.
The film also maintains the perfect track record of Pixar, whose 11 films all have opened at No. 1, starting with the original Toy Story in 1995 and continuing with such hits as Finding Nemo, Ratatouille, WALL-E and last year's Up.
"Disney-Pixar is the best box-office insurance policy you can have," said Paul Dergarabedian, box-office analyst for Hollywood.com. "It's a brand that just resonates with audiences. If they go to a Pixar movie, they know they're going to be entertained. They're going to have a great time and also get a message. There's always a positive lesson you walk away with."
The film gave a nice boost to Hollywood, whose overall receipts had lagged in May. Domestic revenues totalled US$198 million, up 31 percent from the same weekend last year, when The Proposal led with US$33.6 million.
Toy Story 3 continued Hollywood's streak of 3-D hits. The 3-D version of the film accounted for 60 per cent of revenues, though it played on more 2-D than 3-D screens, according to Disney.
Tickets for 3-D movies typically cost a few dollars more than 2-D versions.
Toy Story 3 took in US$8.4 million in 3-D showings at huge-screen IMAX theatres. That beat the IMAX record for an animated film previously held by Monsters vs. Aliens with US$5.1 million. The University of the West Indies (UWI) will allow 200 Haitian university students whose schooling has have been affected by the January 12 earthquake, to complete their degrees at its three campuses.
This is a part of CARICOM's efforts to provide aid to the French-speaking nation following the quake. The initiative was announced by Vice Chancellor of the UWI, Professor E. Nigel Harris, at a recent media clinic hosted by CARICOM.
Professor Harris said the Mona Campus in Jamaica, would accept 100 students, St Augustine in Trinidad and Tobago, 75, while the Cave Hill Campus in Barbados would accept 25.
"The idea is that we will concentrate our efforts on those students who are in their last year of their degree programmes and in areas of need, in terms of what they can contribute to Haiti," Professor Harris explained.
Some of the areas of study which, he said, are critical, are agricultural sciences, engineering and library sciences.
The UWI Vice Chancellor disclosed that the regional university would also be looking at ways it could help to frame a broad education policy for Haiti as it seeks to rebuild.
He also made an appeal for other universities in the Spanish and French-speaking Caribbean to accept students wherever possible.
The media clinic was held ahead of the 31st Meeting of the CARICOM Heads of Government, from July 4 to 7, at the Rose Hall Resort and Spa, in Montego Bay, St James.
Haiti's reconstruction, climate change, the global economic recession and regional trade are the topics expected to feature prominently at the meeting.Police said they have still not identified a man who they killed during an operation on the Coopers Hill Road in St James on Friday.
The man, believed to be about 27 years old, was shot dead and two of his cronies are on the run.
Detectives from the Montego Bay CIB had reported that about 8:30 p.m., the operation was carried out in the Coopers Hill Road area, when the police approached three men who were walking along the roadway.
Upon their advance, the men pulled guns and opened fire at them. The police responded by returning fire, hitting one of the men, while the other two managed to escape.
The injured man was taken to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where he died. None of the lawmen was injured in the operation.
Since then, the Montego Bay CIB have processed the scene and the hands of the officers involved in the shooting were swabbed.Digicel has launched a new online game - the Digicel BlackBerry Bonanza - for the over 184,000 fans on the Digicel Facebook fan page.

Area Three comprises St Eliza-beth, Manchester and Clarendon, with the lock-ups being in Black River, Mandeville and May Pen, respectively.
One source from the Mandeville police said cells from that division which are to house about 30 persons have in recent weeks been accommodating two times that amount and more.
"All 78 dem have in one cell, and cells like those suppose to accommodate like 30 people," the source claimed.
Another source also pointed to a recent incident in which five prisoners escaped from the Mandeville lock-up. Two of the five have since been recaptured.
"When the cells are too full, persons can escape and it can go unnoticed for a while because of the amount of persons in there," that source said.
When contacted last week, Assistant Commissioner, Kingsley Robinson, in charge of the Area Three said he was aware of the matter. While not giving numbers he pointed to the situation at the May Pen lock-up which he says is much more overcrowded when compared to the facilities in Manchester.
In an effort to get help from the police hierachy, ACP Robinson said a letter has been sent to the Commissioner of Police Owen Ellington.
I have sent a letter to the commissioner seeking intervention hoping we can come up with some sort of plan as we move forward ... The situation with the accommodating of prisoners needs to be discussed," ACP Robinson said.
Commissioner Ellington could not be reached for comment.
A hearing on the release application of reputed Clansman boss Tesha Miller is expected to be brought up in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court today.
His attorney, Valerie Neita Robertson, who filed a writ in court demanding Miller's release, appeared in court last Thursday and brought up the issue for the third time. Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey was to rule on whether or not she had the power to grant the alleged gang boss release from custody but it was postponed until today.
postponed three times
The matter has so far been postponed three times since Miller surrendered to the police on May 31 after the police released a list of alleged gang leaders and members from various communities in the Corporate Area and St Catherine.
Miller is being held under the Emergency Powers Act which is being enforced as part of the state of emergency.
Police sources say under the State of Emergency Act, detainees can be held indefinitely without charge but Neita Robertson argued in court that her client is from St Catherine and as such is not affected by the limited state of emergency which has been imposed for just about a month in Kingston and St Andrew.A policeman accused of trying to rape a civilian who works at the police station he is attached, was granted bail in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Friday.
The cop, attached to the Area Five police, was granted $250,000 bail with a surety. He should return to court on September 9 for trial.
Allegations are on April 9, the officer offered the woman a drive home. During their journey, it is alleged that the officer attempted to rape her. It is reported that they were coming from a nine night of a colleague.
The accused man appeared in court shortly after his arrest on Friday morning.
After having interest in music for a while, it was meeting Alliance-leader Bounty Killer that got Splinta his start in the music industry.
"I was introduced to Bounty Killer in 2005 by Galdiez. That's when my career really got acknowledged. That is when it originally took off," said the 22-year-old artiste, whose real name is Lancelot Bissick.
However, his interest in music increased as a child growing up in Banbury District, Linstead, St Catherine.
"Mi have a uncle weh used to do music weh name Crystal Champagne. Mi used to watch him deejay and sing, so I guess that's where it come from," Splinta told THE STAR.
To date, he has performed at shows like Galiday bounce, Star Jam and Reggae Campfire. Splinta has also released several songs like Caan Believe Dem, So Clean, The Journey, Money Haffi Mek and From Yuh Gone.
However, "Money Haffi Mek was the most successful. That a shell down the place; radio, CD a burn, it deh pon mix tape, Internet. A just the video lef fi shoot. That's the one that I am promoting now," he said, noting that the music video will be ready by summer.
Splinta also has plans of releasing No Don, which he recorded recently.
God Bless Rihannas body. The more I look at her the more I understand why Drake was so distraught about her sleeping with him once and leaving him. In music news Rihanna tapped Alex The Kid for her new album. Rap Up reports:
In the past, the London native made beats specifically thinking about the pop stars tastes. When I first started working with [Rihanna], I was doing that, reveals Alex, who produced Love the Way You Lie, her collaboration with Eminem.
As time progressed, the Airplanes producer took a more organic approach. I dont try to directly mold [a record] to her cause you never really know what shes thinking, he tells Rap-Up.com. She wants input from other people . She doesnt always want to come up with the ideas. She wants talented people to help come up with ideas. I just do what feels natural.
Alex has teamed up with Rihanna on several records, none of which he can name nor describe yet. Weve done a couple, he admits. Weve got a few good ones that will probably end up on the album.
KINGSTON, Jamaica -- Jamaica has ordered people to stay off the streets for two days in several slums in the capital while authorities continue a gang crackdown and hunt a reputed drug lord wanted in the U.S.
Police say the 48-hour curfew in place until Friday is necessary to keep patrols safe.
Assistant Commissioner Leon Rose said Wednesday that security forces are "looking for wanted men, weapons and ammunition."
A handful of short curfews have been imposed since a raid last month by police and soldiers hunting for Christopher "Dudus" Coke.
During four days of street battles, authorities say 73 civilians and three security officers were killed.
Coke remains at large.
London's Sunday Times reported that BP plans to raise $10 billion from a bond

KINGSTON, Jamaica -- As the manhunt for alleged drug kingpin Christopher "Dudus" Coke drags into a third week and the government takes its anti-gang crusade nationwide, this nation of 2.6 million is fretting about the strength of its economic backbone: the event and tourism industries.
As scenes of firefights between government forces and gunmen loyal to Coke spooked tourists, airlines canceled flights, event planners pulled the plug and the government suspended its promotional ads.
The only comparable event is a hurricane, said Wayne Cummings, the president of the Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association.
Arsenal appear adamant they will stave off Barcelona's persistent efforts to sign Cesc Fabregas this summer after releasing images of him in their 2010-11 away strip.
Barcelona have not been shy in their pursuit of the 23-year-old midfielder, but the Catalan club have so far failed to convince the Arsenal board to sell, having already had a £30 million bid rejected.
However, Barcelona's incoming president Sandro Rosell has said he will work closely with the departing Joan Laporta in a bid to add Fabregas to the club's list of summer signings, which already includes David Villa.
Fabregas himself has said he will not discuss his future until after completing his international duties with Spain at the World Cup, but Rosell is keen to see what stage discussions have reached between the two clubs.
"When we get together, Laporta will explain at what stage the Cesc situation is at," Rosell said. "If negotiations are advanced and the coaching staff want the player, we will continue with the negotiations, without doubt."
Laporta will stay in charge until the end of the month, and Rosell believes the pair can put their differences to one side in order to land Fabregas.
"Until July 1 we can't do anything, but if they need help then we will be the first to give it," Rosell added.
Although he does not officially take control until the beginning of next month, Rosell will speak to coach Pep Guardiola in the coming days to discuss how the club can strengthen the squad for next season.
"I have spoken to Pep and before he goes away on holiday we will speak again to try to help improve the team in these days before our mandate starts," he continued.
"If Pep thinks we can lend a hand in terms of making signings, we will. They have the last word. We don't have any 'top player' lined up, but we will make our contacts and knowledge available," Rosell said.

Louisiana rapper Lil Boosie or Torrence Hatch, mostly known for his hit single "Wipe Me Down" was indicted for first degree murder, along with 2 other men, Michael Louding and Adrian Pittman. The rapper is suspected to be a part of an incident that left one man, Terry Boyd dead when shots were fired into Boyd's home in October of last year. The men are also facing multiple felony drug-possesion charges as well.
Boosie is currently in Dixon Correctional Facility serving a 4 year prision sentence for drug and gun possesion.
Jamaican singer and rapper Buju Banton is going to have to wait a bit longer before heading to court. The performer was denied a quicker trial on federal drug trafficking charges on June 3.
Banton was arrested in Sarasota late last year when he attempted to buy drugs from an undercover Sarasota police officer. U.S. District Judge James S. Moody set Bantons trial for September, denying a motion for a speedy trial filed by David Markus, who is Bantons attorney.
This marks the second time the case has been postponed. The trial was initially set for April, and then changed to June. No reasons for the delay were given.
Banton made headlines locally when he was bookedand then droppedby several music venues in Tampa and St. Petersburg. The controversial performer has several songs calling for the murder of gay men. He eventually performed at the Cuban Club in Ybor City. That venue said it was unaware of Bantons stance on murdering gay men before he was booked and that it could not undo his contract. The club also said he was not permitted to perform his song, Boom, Bye, Bye, which details the killing of a gay man, during his stop.
Marcus argued that his client should be tried sooner than September.
[He] wants his day in court. Hes understandably frustrated, Markus said. All we want is to present his case to a jury.
Banton, who was nominated for a Grammy this year, has been in jail since December.
