After news broke that D'Angel and Sizzla were both banned from Sting, the greatest one night show on earth, both artistes are speaking out about the ban.

According to D'Angel, Sting has always been about adult entertainment and maturity.

"As a grown woman and an artiste, I am entitled to entertain and perform. I have been watching Sting from I was a child and there is nothing that I did on stage at Sting that was far-fetched from all the things that have happened on that stage over the years," she said.

She added that she has seen artistes splitting, gyrating, and clashing in what could be deemed as an explicit manner over the years without any repercussions.

"I haven't done anything different from what has always been done at Sting. I have never seen it become a problem before, so why is it now that they are making a big mountain out of it? I went on stage with 'The King of the Dancehall' Beenie Man and the fans loved it, I went on stage with 'The King of Sting' Ninja Man and the crowd loved it. The opportunity presented itself to perform for my fans and I did that and they all loved it," she said.

According to D'Angel, she was not the first person to behave in that manner on Sting and she definitely won't be the last.

"I stayed true to the culture of Sting, which is energy-packed entertainment. I think outside the box. I was just having fun. It was just solid and mature entertainment. The patrons enjoyed it and the fans were happy. I represented dancehall on a wider scale. My music and career is not based on one night, my career goes on after this," D'Angel emphasised.

As for Sizzla, his publicist, Olimatta Taal, told THE STAR that they (Sting promoters) should not have tried to censor Sizzla.

"It is Laing's show but he knows the artiste that Sizzla is and he knows what Sizzla represents. If you book him for a show, don't censor him. If you want to fight the issue, then fight the Government," Taal said.

She also said that based on the constitution and the legal system, what Sizzla was denouncing is illegal.

"Sizzla was just expressing the values he was brought up on. Don't censor the artiste for that," she said.

Justice must stop in Vybz Kartels case and Jamaica As a child growing up in Jamaica who saw many of his friends dragged to the police station or roughed up for simply being at a neighbourhood dance wearing a pair of shoes with suede, I felt that abuse by the police and injustice on a whole in Jamaica fell in the so it go category. I remember hearing Peter Toshs interview about his negative experience with police giving a blow by blow account (pun intended,) I read about Agana Barret suffocating in a police lock-up; from the scrimmage field where I played football during lunch at school, I witnessed many beatings and the constant refrain when I inquired why was simply A so it go. However, in recent years, one notices a surge of Justice Watchdogs and individuals that are quick on the scene of any incident that is suspected to be unjust they usually make it in time to have a sound bite on the evening news. If they miss the cameras, they then call a Press Conference and bang on the desk promising to get to the bottom of the situation. Whilst I accept that for many this is a case of something better than nothing, I ask who is going to get to the bottom of the Vybz Kartel situation? Who is going to bang on the desk for him? I tried a few times; visiting Indecom, writing Open letters to the powers that be and tried to reach out to Amnesty International as I felt that the litany of oddities in his cases are quite astonishing. In the summer of 2011, a Senior Police officer came on National TV and insinuated that a very popular St. Catherine Dancehall DJ is tied to 5 murders which he would soon be apprehended for. On several occasions, they have been reports of an overwhelming amount of evidence that would make conviction on these murders rather easy for the Prosecution. With Adidja Palmers arrest, the speculation by many that he was indeed the referenced popular DJ from St. Catherine was confirmed. On the day of this mans arrest he was paraded in handcuffs on National TV going from house to house, something that I never saw before and have never seen again on National TV with any other individual other than Adidja Palmer from the days of JBC until today. Since his arrest, there have been accusations of witness tampering, contraband using, phone hoarding and illicit note writing none of which has even been proven in a Court of law as far as the public has been told, so why are unproven accusations left in the public domain to prejudice a case or is it a case of so it go? According to his attorneys, several of these accusations have been used as evidence to prevent bail and at a minimum prejudice the minds of potential jurors. Where were the justice watchdogs then? Or a so it go. This man, after being incarcerated for a year and four months once showed up to Court only to find that there was no jury to hear his case and told to come back four months later ; again so it go. Note that, come back in 4 months was for a case that the presiding judge had to eventually instruct the jury to return a verdict of Not Guilty for lack of evidence/witnesses and the consequent inability to present a viable case to prove guilt some six months later. Before that case could have started, the accused had to endure trips to Court only to find out that there was no available Courtroom or learn on another day that pertinent documents to start his case were unavailable. Occurrences such as these delayed his exoneration in that case where were the watchdogs then? Who pounded the desks then? One can only draw a singular conclusion so it go. In a few days, this mans legal journey reaches another major intersection as the second murder case (not sure what happened to the other three) is scheduled to start in a matter where the accuseds lawyer said on a You Tube Video, is even weaker than the one that was previously thrown out. If there is no jury, no Court rooms, no documents again will it be so it go again. Will he be told to come back in 4, 5 or 6 months; a year? My view is, it is only because it is Vybz Kartel is so it go. Justice Watchdogs, the judiciary, politicians, prosecutors, - it is time to end so it go Justice for Vybz Kartel and for Jamaica in general. Despite the fact that it appears nobody cares when it is Vybz Kartel; many of us, the children who grew up in a so it go justice system are asking the powers that be to find evidence to convict, assemble a jury, start a trial or send the man home to his children because at some point we have to be able to tell the next generation Anuh so it go justice for one, justice for all whether you sing slack songs or not. KINGSTON, Jamaica (AP) Assault rifles at the ready, police in a speedboat scan the coastline as they slice through the slate-gray water, aware that the rocky shorelines and fishing villages that line parts of southern Jamaica are not always very sleepy these days.

Seizures of South American cocaine in Jamaica have doubled since last year, and that has prompted island authorities to step up their game, dispatching more patrols to locations that haven't seen such sustained law enforcement activity in years.

"All these areas are constantly monitored for illegal contraband. We keep our ears close to the ground," said Det. Cpl. Orville Welsh, the lead officer in the patrol boat, after his team searched a fisherman's canoe and a village of wooden shacks for drugs and guns.

Legal marijuana is the fastest-growing market in the United States, and it's growing at a rate poised to outpace the expansion of the global smartphone market, according to a new report obtained exclusively by The Huffington Post.

Researchers surveyed hundreds of medical cannabis retailers, processors, dispensary owners and industry leaders over the course of six months this year, and estimated that more than $1.43 billion worth of legal marijuana will be sold in 2013. The report also predicts that figure to grow by 64 percent to $2.34 billion next year. By comparison, recent figures show the U.S. smartphone market expanded by 46 percentfrom 2012 to 2013.

JAMAICAS CORRUPT PAYOLA SYSTEM PREVENTED THIS SONG FROM BEING PLACED IN THE FESTIVAL COMPETITION LAST YEAR

After hearing his song for the first time, several persons are enquiring as to why it was not among the top three festival songs last year. The performer and writer, Redeem approached MJE and asked that we tell his story as he believes that it is a corrupt music system that is crippling young artists like himself.

Redeem states that last year he wrote two songs, one for the gospel competition and one for the cultural competition. He gave the gospel song to his brother to record, while he focused on the cultural song. He said that a gentleman from Old Harbor (who is a teacher by profession but someone who also had connections with persons at the festivals office) was really impressed with his cultural song and told him that he should pay him the entry fee of $1000 JMD (which he did) and he would ensure that the song gets in.

A few days later, Redeem got a phone call at approximately 6am from the gentleman from Old Harbor telling him that he spoke with someone at the festival office and they are saying that the song is good but a ting affi gwaan, meaning monies needs to be paid in order for his song to go any further.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Domestic Violence Awareness Month evolved from the first Day of Unity observed in October, 1981 by the National Coalition against Domestic Violence in the United States. In October 1987, the first Domestic Violence Awareness Month was observed.

Some entertainers have released projects in time for Domestic Violence Awareness Month hoping to bring light to a very sensitive subject. Music Critiques says Beenie Mans Latest Single has Billboard and Grammy Potential

International recording artist Beenie Man, the current crowned king of the Dancehall, has just released a single with LAs princess of world pop Orisha Sound. The song which is called world war three racked up over 5,000 views on sound-cloud literally hours after it was posted. Based on the rapid, positive feedback the producers decided to place the track in a listening session amongst some very harsh music critiques who all overwhelmingly said that this song has both Billboard and Grammy potential.

World war three was produced by Shel K of Springwata Productions for Black and Yellow Entertainment with distribution by Zojak Worldwide. The song was remixed twice, one mix aimed at the North American market, was done by Josh Stevens who has done work for established acts such as Sean Kingston, Robin Thick and Kanye West. And the European mix was done by Ryan Otter who is known for his works with Skrillex and David Guetta.

Dancehall star Flippa Mafia, aka Flippa Moggela, was arrested in a massive drug ring spanning California, New Jersey, and Jamaica.

The US Drug Enforcement Agency, DEA, say Flippa Mafia, whose real name is Andrew Davis, is the mastermind behind a massive drug operation based in Jamaica, with distribution from California to waypoints in New Jersey.

The 34-year-old dancehall star along with 8 others are currently in federal custody awaiting court appearance.

DEA Agents have been investigating the drug ring since 2011. According to CBS news, Davis would direct his brother Kemar in Hollywood, California, to ship the drugs to Marsha Bernard of Cherry Hill, New Jersey.

Bernard would distribute the drugs in New Jersey and send back the proceeds to Kemar in Los Angeles and to Andrew Davis in Kingston, Jamaica.

Flippa Mafia has been in custody since September after he was arrested in Californa. Most of the other suspects were arrested between March and May, 2013.

During his arrest, police say they recovered two handguns, US$600,000 cash, and 26 kilograms of cocains worth an estimated US$780,000. Police say that is just a small percentage of the total operation.

According to DEA agents, Andrew Davis and the other suspects used courier services to transport the drugs across the country.

Flippa Mafia is facing several charges including narcotics trafficking, conspiracy, and money laundering.

The charges carry up to 20 years in federal prison.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) A 71-year-old Louisiana prisoner who spent 41 years in solitary confinement and is now dying of cancer was released late Tuesday from prison, his attorneys said.

Late Tuesday, U.S. District Chief Judge Brian Jackson in Baton Rouge denied the state's motion seeking to block his earlier order overturning Herman Wallace's 1974 murder conviction in the death of Angola guard Brent Miller.

Jackson had also ordered a new trial because women were unconstitutionally excluded from the grand jury that indicted Wallace in the guard's death. And, he ordered him immediately released.

Wallace's attorneys said the freed prisoner left a correctional center in St. Gabriel by ambulance Tuesday evening and was expected to go to LSU Interim Hospital in New Orleans for treatment of advanced terminal liver cancer.

"Tonight, Herman Wallace has left the walls of Louisiana prisons and will be able to receive the medical care that his advanced liver cancer requires," his legal team said in a statement.

Earlier Tuesday, Jackson overturned Wallace's 1974 murder conviction in Miller's death.

"The record in this case makes clear that Mr. Wallace's grand jury was improperly chosen in violation of the Fourteenth Amendment's guarantee of 'the equal protection of the laws' ... and that the Louisiana courts, when presented with the opportunity to correct this error, failed to do so," Jackson wrote.

He added, "Our Constitution requires this result even where, as here, it means overturning Mr. Wallace's conviction nearly forty years after it was entered."

George Kendall, one of Wallace's attorneys, told The Associated Press in an earlier telephone interview the decision gives his client "some measure of justice after a lifetime of injustice," but his response was tempered by the grim outlook for Wallace's health.

"He's pleased," Kendall said of Wallace's reaction after hearing of Tuesday's ruling, "but he's quite ill."

Wallace, whose birthday is Oct. 13, has been diagnosed with terminal liver cancer. Kendall said he "ceased receiving treatment a couple of weeks ago."

Kendall said the state had filed notice it would appeal Jackson's ruling. A telephone message left with East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney Hillar C. Moore III's office was not immediately returned. The state Department of Public Safety and Corrections referred all questions to Moore's office.

Wallace and two other inmates convicted in the 23-year-old guard's slaying came to be known as the "Angola 3."

Wallace, of New Orleans, was serving a 50-year armed robbery sentence when Miller was fatally stabbed in 1972. Wallace and the two others convicted in Miller's death were moved to isolation at the Louisiana State Penitentiary in Angola. In 2009, Wallace was moved to "closed-cell restriction" at Hunt Correctional in St. Gabriel and recently was taken to the prison's hospital unit.

Kendall said his client has asked that, after his demise, they continue to press the lawsuit challenging Wallace's "unconstitutional confinement in solitary confinement for four decades."

"It is Mr. Wallace's hope that this litigation will help ensure that others, including his lifelong friend and fellow 'Angola 3' member, Albert Woodfox, do not continue to suffer such cruel and unusual confinement even after Mr. Wallace is gone," his legal team said in a written statement.

Kendall said Woodfox won full habeas relief last year but the state has appealed that as well. The case is pending before the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

In 2010, Woodfox was moved to the David Wade Correctional Center in Homer, where he remains in custody.

Woodfox and Wallace have continued to deny involvement in Miller's killing and say they were targeted because they helped establish a prison chapter of the Black Panther Party at the Angola prison in 1971, set up demonstrations and organized strikes for better conditions in the prison.

Amnesty International USA last year delivered a petition to Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal's office, containing 65,000 signatures from people around the world who called the men's solitary confinement inhuman and degrading.

The group's executive director, Steven W. Hawkins, welcomed the court's ruling involving Wallace. "Tragically, this step toward justice has come as Herman is dying from cancer with only days or hours left to live," he said in a statement. "No ruling can erase the cruel, inhuman and degrading prison conditions he endured for more than 41 years."

The third man, Robert King, was released after 29 years in solitary confinement. King, convicted of killing a fellow inmate in 1973, was released in 2001 after his conviction was reversed and he pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of conspiracy to commit murder.

Video has emerged showing the shocking moment a Range Rover driver apparently drove through a crowd of motorbikes as it fled with its family inside for fear of being attacked.

Police have revealed the bikers started to damage the vehicle after the driver, 33-year-old Alexian Lien, hit a motorcyclist.

Fearing for the safety of his wife Roslyn Ng and young child, aged five months, the SUV driver then sped off, hitting several bikers in its path.

The six-minute film shows the SUV hit another motorcyclist after it was chased by the pack of bikers.

The family are eventually brought to a standstill in Manhattan traffic and immediately bikers run to attack the vehicle, smashing the driver's window and attempting to smash the rear door window.

The five-month-old child was in the back and Ng was in the front passenger seat.

An NYPD spokesman told MailOnline the Lien was taken to hospital and treated for lacerations to his face and body.

He said there were no other injuries reported from the incident.

No one has been arrested and police are still investigating and examining the evidence, he said.

The spokesman said, according to Lien, a large number of motorcyclists were driving 'erratically' and he 'accidentally collided with one'. 

The footage shows one motorcyclist brake hard in front the the car and seems to get bumped by it.

He pulled over but some of the bikers started to damage the vehicle. The NYPD spokesman told  MailOnline the driver drove off 'to avoid an impending assault'.

The video shows the Range Rover accelerate suddenly knocking over bikes and motorcyclists, driving over the top of them.

The footage was captured on a helmet camera of a motorcyclist during an annual bikers' event in New York City, at around 2pm yesterday.

Lien speeds away, but immediately the angry bikers follow and it takes a matter of seconds for them to catch up.

The footage shows them following the vehicle for several minutes, at times getting close and intimidating the driver.

The group of bikers take Exit 14, on route 95, following signs for the Cross Bronx Expressway and passing the sign for Henry Hudson Parkway, before they traffic begins to slow.

The bikers again surround the vehicle, blocking its path and it's forced to stop.

Seizing an opportunity to confront the driver, one biker dismounts and tries to open the door, but the SUV speeds off again, knocking down at least one more motorcyclist.

The driver heads off on route 95 heading north towards the Cross Bronx Expressway, then taking the W 176 SI which leads into a built-up area with heavy traffic.

Forced to stop at traffic lights, the Range Rover comes to a standstill, and within seconds two bikers are off their vehicles and attacking the driver's side windows.

The first takes off his helmet and throws it against the driver's door window, smashing it; the second tries to punch through the rear door window, where the child was sat.

The footage then stops.

The video was posted by a biker, under the name GIXXARDR on Liveleaks, from Melbourne, Australia, this morning. He claims one biker was killed, which the police said was not true.

Already it has received numerous comments, most are in support of Lien.

One person, whose profile name is Sgt Pepper, says:  'I would do exactly the same thing. They're intimidating him and he's probably fearing for his life.'

Another, known as 'zacarra' says the driver acted in 'self defense'.

'Did you see the biker break (sic) check him in the beginning. This poor guy was running for his life from the start,' zacarra writes.

According to 'meathead12' it was 'justifiable': 'Only a fool would stick around to be pulled out of his car and lynched by 100 bikers.'

'charlesferg' says the NYC has now banned the riders' annual event.

Before 19 seconds into the video, the controversial DJ made his appearance by running on to a stage chasing off patrons. "Hol' on deh! Mi a do sumn yah suh! Sorry deh! Sorry deh," he said while pushing three men off the stage to create enough room.

Clad in créme pants, with grey T-shirt and matching turban, the DJ began jumping to the beat of Konshen's Walk And Whine and yelling, "whoiiiiii!! dis a nuh boring time!!" Fuelling the energy of the gyrating male patrons.

At that point, a particularly passionate male couple took the spotlight grinding on each other with one man on his head top, while his partner held him firmly by the hips 'daggering' him from behind, much to the delight of the other patrons and the spirited ras.

Men dressed in full female apparel made their presence known when Gaza Slim's Independent Ladies blared through the speakers.

The dynamic DJ, feeding off the vibes of the crowd yelled, "Weh all a di independent ladies!!" and the more effeminate patrons could be seen showing their appreciation for the hit song by bussing a whine and strutting to the middle of the dance floor.

As the video concluded, the Ras could be seen jumping on stage and yelling "All who waa party sehh party!! Party mi sehh!!" to cheers of approval from patrons.

Unlike the patrons in the video who were appreciative of the Rastaman's efforts, some viewers were not as kind. One commented, "I aint mad at nobody in this video but the Rasta. He don't need to be proclaiming that anymore."

Another commented, "Fire, fire, fire, an look pon di style dread. Shame to di Rasta community."

"Mi nuh kno weh mi really ah watch to neck back ... but mi kno one ting ... juss true ah man locks him hair don't mean him ah Rasta.. Meck mi tell yuh real Rasta nuh inna dem ting, no time ah tall ...," another user added.

But to the displeasure of some viewers, others were supportive of the Rastaman stating that he was only doing his job.

"The dread in the far background, leave him alone, Rasta community doesn't care, he's dancing with nobody, the man is a MC and doing his work," a user commented.

While another stated, "It's his job to make sure that people having a good time, free country dis!"

BlackBerry trumpeted its intention to deliver the long-awaited Android and iOS versions of its BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) service this weekend, and so fans around the world eagerly awaited the mobile softwares debut. But debut the apps didnt, at least not as intended and not for the vast majority of expectant fans.

As of right now, BlackBerrys BBM apps for iOS and Android are nowhere to be seen, after the iOS versions staged rollout of midnight local time at each country around the world got put on hold somewhere around India, and the Android version was a no-show altogether. The Android BBM app was originally slated for a Saturday launched, but the iOS version beat it out the gate, and both got paused after a leaked version of the official Android .apk decimated BlackBerrys servers.

Late yesterday BlackBerry was forced to put its rollout on hold, which it says is due to overwhelming demand.

Tom Tavares Finson, the lawyer for popular entertainer Vybz Kartel says his client was given legal permission by the Superintendent of Prisons to keep a a DVD player and an Apple iPod which were seized from his cell during a searches on September 15 and 16. 

The disclosure was made today by Kartel's lawyers Tom Tavares Finson and Christian Tavares Finson. 

The lawyers have submitted a copy of the permission granted to Kartel, whose real name is Adijah Palmer, to keep the items in his possession.

Before I begin to talk about the real issues as to why the police are taking a set on me. I must first say that the Jamaican police are the worst inefficient set of police in the world. Who say they act on intelligence when it is completely the opposite . If roach was killed on Mannings hill road Sunday morning. What kind of intelligence could have led the police to horizon remand centre Sunday at mid day, I have never spoken to roach or anyone associated with him nor do I have any altercation with him. I was laying on my bed on Sunday at about midday when I heard my cell door shaking. It was the police without giving me a reason for the search about to be conducted. They ask me to step out of my cell. During the search a hammer was used to tear apart a section of the wall between my cell and a cell occupied by "zebra". They took two cell phones out of the wall which was immediately claimed by "zebra" as his cell phones. A subsequent search on Monday led to the officers finding a SIM card from said zebra. In the initial search on Sunday the police and a high ranking officer from the department of corrections asked "Shawn storm" and myself if we had a permit for the D.V.D & mp3 to which we replied yes and furnished the documents. We immediately got back the items. On Monday they came back (the police) and told us that they were going to check out the items but we should have our lawyers called them back. This was relayed to us by the woman from M.I.T in that instant , a police called "brooks" took a paper from cell containing instructions .... Instructions to one of my banks saying that I hereby authorize my baby mother to withdraw five thousand pound sterling. Which would then be given to my lawyer for his stamp. G.P Spanish Town , Tamarind Farm, Richmond Farm, and Horizon are institutions where hundreds of inmates accused & sentenced, have permits for various gadgets such as DVD MP3 etc and I like the others have a permit. This is not the first time the police have told lies on me since I've been here and like the last time when four cell phones were "found in my cell", I will be contacting INDECOM . Canada withdraws work permit for Jamaican singer

KINGSTON, Jamaica CMC Canada Friday withdrew the work permit for Jamaican Reggae artiste, Queen Ifrica following complaints from the Canada-based Jamaica Association of Gays and Lesbians Abroad (JAGLA). The activists had complained that the dancehall performer was notorious for her homophobic lyrics and the coordinator of the Rastafest, Masani Montague confirmed that the singer would not be performing due to circumstances beyond our control. JAGLA spokesman, Kerron Orlando, welcomed the group decision noting the decision has sent a clear message that persons who make comments that jeopardize the well-being of members of the LGBT community in Jamaica, will not be welcomed in Canada. He said he hoped that other homophobic persons will remember that performers will be condemned and called on the Jamaica government to  immediately put in place measures to protect members of the LGBT community.

On Thursday, the Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, which had given the festival Can$4,200 (One Canada Dollar =US$0.95 cents)  said it was disappointed to hear that an artist using homophobic language is being featured at this event. While it is Rastafest, not the federal government who is responsible for programming decisions, we will ensure that future funding requests from them are very carefully reviewed, the group said. Rastafest is sponsored in part by the Toronto Public Library and Service Canada. Earlier this month, the Jamaica government expressed regret at the statements made by Queen Ifrica, during the Grand Gala. In a statement, the Ministry of Youth and Culture said the event was used by the singer as a platform to express her personal opinions and views on matters that may be considered controversial, rather than to perform in the agreed scripted and rehearsed manner consistent with the thematic production. Furthermore, the comments by the artiste were inappropriate in the setting of a national, state-funded event with more than 20,000 persons, including children, who were in the National Stadium and thousands more watching on television and online. During her performance, statements glorifying male straightness, heterosexual marriage and the legalisation of marijuana were among those made on stage.
